morning ladies :) That sounds interesting bellarose, hopefully someone will have it for you. Ironing today... sigh... not my favourite job to do but I like it when it's all finished and dad is visiting this afternoon. And there are more dead flies to vacuum. We could use a good frost to kill them all off. Crafting later on if all goes to plan. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-02-28 07:50:00
Morning Everyone That book does sound interesting. Have you tried Amazon or Book Depository Bellarose? I have a few more peaches to do this morning and freeze the beans I picked yesterday. They are really producing now. Yay. Then a general tidy up of the kitchen and table which has become a dumping ground with all the cooking and medical stuff etc. Didnt get the last maroon square done yesterday.. but will make sure I do it tonight.. Then thats the worst hurdle done. Going to try and get MrP to do a little more now. He has to if hes going to live while Im gone.. So he can help with the dishes later. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-02-28 09:20:00
morning ladies :) Blimmen flies! They just don't give up. I'm thinking of buying a small dustbuster type vacuum to save me dragging the big vacuum out every day just for the dead flies. Dad visted yesterday and told us he is looking forward to moving in with us. Am pleased about that as he was so reluctant to move originally. A few things to tidy up in the garden, the bins are empty now so I can refill them with the weeds and prunings from the other day. Then some crafting time. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-01 08:13:00
Morning everyone The flies and I dont think we have a huge amount, annoy MrP.. yet he will sit there and wont even throw a sarong over his legs to prevent them landing on him.. So im afraid he doesnt get alot of sympathy.. I will be glad when they are gone tho. Thats good re your dad Kiwimade.. I guess theres alot of stuff to be sorted now. I finally finished the maroon squares and have done 3 of the Navy. Its dark but not too bad.. Only 36 of the navy and grey ones. Froze beans and did another jar of peaches yesterday, boiled the stones too, so have 3 cups of peach juice to turn into jelly at some stage. Its in the freezer. Shopping this morning and then waiting for the courier for MrPs Antibiotics. Im getting a collection of ice packs, which I will share around and the silver backed Bubble wrap will come in handy. The largest piece will become a windscreen cover for our car at some stage. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-01 09:21:00
bellarose - the book Knit a Square and make a Toy is for sale on here - listing 1556035636. tinybaldone - 2018-03-01 09:45:00
morning ladies :) Nice to 'see' you tinybaldone. Windows to clean today as our daughter wants to borrow my Karcher window thingy - she really should get her own lol. I'll give it to her Sunday when we see her at the National horse show we are all going to. Our granddaughter (four and a half years old!) is riding in it and we can't miss that! I had the best nights sleep for ages last night couldn't believe it. I think my stress levels are going down and we've also had a very serious family issue resolved yesterday which helped. Better get moving or nothing will be done today. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-02 08:32:00
Morning everyone Yay they have finally said Mid march to the third week for my opp. Will get a letter 3 weeks before, so Im excited all over again lol Sure helps when stuff is sorted out eh Kiwimade, Ohh exciting aboout your grandgirl and the horse show.. Have fun and lots of photos of course. The nurse comes this morning and then our house lady this afternoon.. Poor MrP asked last night cold we go out today.. But its not an easy day to do it as we dont know what time the nurse comes. So Ive told him we can go out in the morning. Im loving the navy yarn even tho its dark, its soo much softer to work with. Got the powerbill this morning, with the extra freezer and all the baking preserving etc Ive done, its only an extra $20 So Well worth it. I trying to decide, Sit and crochet, or attack the spare room... Im thinking crochet will win out. I should be able to bet all the squares done, if not connected before my opp.. The next one is bright colours.. and not needed till August / Septemeber I think it is. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-02 09:28:00
Afternoon ladies, I'm pleased to report that I had a much better day at the market yesterday, and sold this little cutie which I only finished the night before: https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/740288020.jpg Now I am inspired to make some more. Another market on Sunday but the Monday and Wednesday ones have been cancelled. It's only a very small ship in and the boss thinks it will be a waste of time. Means I'll be able to go out to lunch on Wednesday with the girls. We try to go somewhere different for lunch on the first Wednesday of the month - we don't bother in January as people are busy or away, and I missed December and February because of the markets. This time we are going to the Chinese which is usually good. The weather has finally turned to rain, so hopefully the humidity will drop. I must not fall asleep in the chair tonight, I need to catch up on some crochet. Enjoy the rest of your day kuaka - 2018-03-02 16:04:00
morning ladies :) That is cute kuaka! I bet it was fiddle to make though :) Was hot and humid last night so the mozzies were out in force and this morning I'm covered in bites. Really bugs me MrK isn't even sniffed at! I didn't get the windows done so will do that today and start packing a bag of things to give to our daughter tomorrow. Things that were forgotten when we had our grandson stay last month and a few other bits and pieces. Crafting this afternoon, I'm getting there Popeye lol, almost halfway. haven't forgotten to take a pic when I get there for you. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-03 08:03:00
Morning everyone He is a little cutie Kuaka.. not surprised he sold fast. Luckily Im not the one the Mozzies hit Kiwimade. Its MrP.. But I do hear about it all the time lol.. Wow your working fast on the cross stitch too... Thank you.. Are you enjoying it? Im a third of the way on the Navy squares already.. Totally different and more enjoyable working with a better yarn. Taking MrP out for a wee while this morning. Will get a couple of things from the supermarket before we come home. Have beans to pick later , may decide to eat a few instead of freezing them all, this time. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-03 09:33:00
Morning everyone Had a lazy day yesterday. But will be busier today.. Ive got a bag of carrots to slice and freeze and the beans from last night. Was a good pick last night. Ohh Kiwimade the Rose that I put in a pot has 4 buds on it.. Im soo pleased I took your advice. Its a white one so Im looking forward to seeing it flower. Hopefully crochet for the afternoon Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-04 09:29:00
Morning ladies, I'm feeling a bit better today having had a reasonable nights sleep. Yesterday I woke at 2.30am and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up at 5 and halfway through the morning I was ready to go back to bed again, but I couldn't because I was at the craft market. That was a complete waste of time. It bucketed down all morning and hardly anyone came in. The rain stopped about midday and a few people came in, but nobody had a good day. I was the only one who sold nothing at all, but most people only managed to sell a couple of things. Came home and had a nap, and went out like a light. Cooked spag bol for tea, and have enough of the meat mixture for tonight, so will just cook more spaghetti - plan to go to the club for a couple of games of snooker, so it's good to not have to cook a full meal when I get home. Plan to tidy up the sewing room somewhat today - and go to the supermarket for the kitty litter which I forgot to get on Saturday (that was the main thing I went for!!!!) Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-03-05 08:10:00
morning ladies :) I will hot the half way mark today popeye, and yes, I'm enjoying the stitching. That's awesome about the rose, they are pretty tough and can take a lot. We didn't go to the horse riding event yesterday as our granddaughter's other nana who was doing it with her, was kicked in the thigh by a horse and has a massive hematoma on her thigh. I can only imagine how that hurt! There will be other events this year for our granddaughter to compete in so looking forward to those. Ahhh lol, so I'm not the only one who goes to the supermarket and comes home with everything but what I went there for! Will do some cross stitch this afternoon, I have some more bits of concrete to move this morning. Not waiting for the digger lol, will move the smaller more manageable bits myself. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-05 08:17:00
Yes kiwimade, but normally I am meticulous about making a list but this time because I only need 5 things, I didn't bother. Came home with a dozen or more things ($72 later) but not the kitty litter! kuaka - 2018-03-05 09:13:00
Morning Everyone, Ouchies Kiwimade re Maddys other grandmother.. hope she gets it checked if need be. On one of the warfarin groups Im in on FB it was a bit of show and tell with bruising yesterday. lol Impressive too A friend asked me yesterday if I knew anyoone with an abundance of beetroot. So I asked one friend, she said she would ask another cos she knew they grewa big garden. She rings me back not 30 minutes later and asked me, Was it Rhubarb or Silverbeet I was looking for.. And she thinks Im joking about her getting dementia.. Even my dr agrees with me. I feel very flat today so will bag up the frozen veges and do some crochet and thats about it.. Be careful lifting the concrete Kiwimade Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-05 09:34:00
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/742022698.jpg Half way popeye :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-05 17:55:00
morning ladies :) Have a bit to do this morning, dropping a suitcase off to dad so he can start packing and while in Cambridge I need to call into Bunnings and buy some glue for the porch floorboards and MrK also needs some timber. Once the floor board is down the skirting boards can go on and we can tile. Only had the tiles two and a half years lol. Hopefully I can cross stitch this afternoon. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-06 08:20:00
Morning everyone Kiwimade its beautiful. Id have mucked it up and thrown it in the norty corner by now. Bloods for both of us today.. Then back to my crochet. ive done 20 of the 36 Navy squares. such a nice wool to use. Will have to wind another one tho. Much easier working from a cake. We have fog this morning, so Autumn is here for sure. Bound to be some idiots driving without lights on. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-06 09:21:00
morning ladies :) Forgot dad's suitcase lol, oh well, I'm sure he has one or two. Dad also told me he can show me how to put the glass in the new porch door. So that's a new skill I'll be learning. It's raining today, so much for getting the lawn mowed. Yoga this evening though and I look forward to that. Cross stich later this afternoon for me. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-07 08:13:00
Morning everyone A wet humid one for sure. Only need snow and we would have had it all this week lol. That will be a neat skill Kiwimade. Ive watched it being done, enough that I think I could do it. Only small tho. Years ago we brought a doer-upper house. it had 13 broken windows, by the time to Glazier had finished he had replaced 17.. I think he was just rushing it too much. My INR is still a little high, so Im going to try and bring it down some with food. Crochet today. Theres not much else I have to do in any hurry. Will blanch some beans when I cook tea. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2018-03-07 09:51:00
Afternoon ladies, had a lazy morning and then went to knit and natter, wasn't there all that long as I was late arriving and had to leave promptly to get to the "bunny club lunch" which today was at the local Chinese restaurant. When I went to pay for my coffee, the chap behind the counter (new) said "here's your bill" and I wasn't going to take it but thought I might as well - $37. He had charged me for the entire table. Err, thanks but no thanks. $5 is enough for a cup of coffee. Nice meal at the Chinese but we hadn't been there long and a tour bus of Indians arrived and the whole place suddenly became very noisy. Despite the 27 deg they must have thought it was cold because most of them were wearing jackets and scarves. I am going to sit and put my feet up and have a cup of tea even though I haven't done anything today - I don't feel like doing much, so I won't. Will sit and crochet instead. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-03-07 14:03:00
morning ladies :) I've seen tourists in warm clothing here too even in our heat. They must come from somewhere warmer but if they are northern hemisphere people, surely it's winter there? We have three students arriving today and they are staying four days so it's going to be busy. So housework for me today, lawns were mowed yesterday in between the showers and sometimes during the showers lol. The neighbours think I'm nuts but I like everything to be tickety-boo especially when the students are here. I was at Yoga last evening and there were a few new guys starting which is great! We did one asana called 'open hearts' and I could never get my face completely on the ground without using props but last night just slid into the pose as if it was meant to be. So I must be becoming more flexible which must be better for my back. I'll try and cross stitch later before I pick the students up. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-08 07:29:00
Morning everyone I have a friend who wears far too much in the heat and then wonders why she gets hot. Same with her beddiing, she likes the weight of blankets. Told her she should get weights, like the ones you hold tableclothes down on a picnic table. And have less layers.. Then she wonders why she has a disturbed heat. MrP off to the infectious Diseases clinic this morning. but have to be home in time to change his bottle. Only did 3 squares yesterday, but thats better than none I suppose. so 13 more and the navy is done. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-08 08:01:00
Morning ladies, went to a friends last night for tea and tried paua for the very first (and last) time ever. Can't say I enjoyed it - only had one tiny piece and that was enough. I said "well if I was starving and it was the only thing to eat, then I would eat it, but I'd prefer not to, I'd prefer someone who enjoys it to eat it." We also had fish which was lovely and salads. So no crochet last night. I've started on a turtle puzzle ball, would like to get it done for Saturday's market, but doubt very much that I will. Have to go to Kerikeri this afternoon to get the new windscreen fitted on the car, so have 3 hours to kill there. Luckily all the shops are within walking distance. I'll have some lunch and do the op shops, the emporium, Bunnings and there's a nice little dress shop which sells both new and good quality second hand stuff, so I will check that out too. I will also take my crochet and find somewhere to sit and do some if I run out of shops to browse. Then on the way home I'm picking up a secondhand electric lawnmower which was advertised on the local noticeboard on fb. I am sick of having to lug the other one up and down the steps because the original one has a problem with the switch. I should just take it in and get it fixed, but $40 for this one is probably cheaper. Paul can fix the other one when he's here. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-03-08 09:09:00
Made it home in time to do MrP's Bottle change, Just.. Waited over an hour for his appointment. And then we were only there a few minutes. Is on the bottle for two more weeks, then oral antibiotics for Life. 10-20% chance that it will flare up again. So having Antibiotics on board will hopefully help keep it down. At least we will notice the change if it flares up again. They wont change his valve they dont think he would handle the surgery etc So badly need a good nights sleep. One to get through before I can take a pill.. I dont want to risk sleeping late tomorrow incase the nurse comes early. Makes it hard when we dont know what time they are coming. Anyway enough of my tried grumbles.. HAve a good night everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-08 15:50:00
Morning everyone Sorted some wool out for a shawl a kind lady is going to knit for me. She loved knitting shawls, but doesnt like wearing them. And shes already knitting grandies clothes for Next winter lol. So Ive got a nice deep red colour. Which will go nicely with some of my black clothes. Have a few things to do up the road this morning. And also have the nurse and home help coming. So a busy day Hope everyone is well Have fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-09 08:29:00
Morning everyone Nurse came yesterday to change MrP's dressings.. It will all be over on the 21st of March. So only 11 days to go. Only have 11 blue squares to go now, so Im getting through it much faster than the maroon. Grey and cream to do after that. Im thinking as much as I dont like the maroon, it would be good and strong to join the blanket up with. And one way of using a bit more of it. I might get into the spare room this morning before everything falls off the table lol. Its been sadly lacking attention for a while. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-10 10:00:00
Good Morning Everyone from sunny Napier. Yes the out sunny and there a wind to dry the washing. Good news Mr P is doing so well. This will help you when you head off to hospital popeye. Will I need to move as we have to pop out for a couple of bedside lamps as one no longer working. Put the good one in share bedroom. sunflowers28 - 2018-03-10 11:43:00
I remember cyclone Bola well. We were living between Kawakawa Bay and Orere Point, on the east side of Papakura My Parents had been down to Mangakino to buy a house. Its inbetween Tokoroa and Taupo. when they moved me down aftet Bola had been through they were shocked to see most of the forrest flattened. We were on a farm when it happened, so no power, no water, no toilet. But we caught rain water and used a solar shower for the bathroom. One flash of lihgtening hit my 21st key mirror and split it down the middle. Its a simple way of remembering when I moved to Mangakino and met MrP's niece then sister and family and then I met him lol. popeye333 - 2018-03-10 12:45:00
morning ladies :) I remember Bola well, I was working for an insurance company so was dealing with a lot of insurance claims. Our students have settled in, two more days before they leave. They're good kids and no trouble. I've been picking away at your cross stitch popeye, but haven't done much as I'm pretty tired by the end of the day. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-11 07:42:00
Morning everyone The farm we were living on was owned by the Cashmore Family. Of whome Bill Cashmore is now the Deputy mayor of Auckland. Hasnt done to bad for a farmer boy lol What country are your students from this time Kiwimade? Thats something I would like to do in the future. I picked and froze more beans yesterday and then sort of pottered about.. Cooked savoury mince for MrP. And got enough for last night, another night maybe on toast and I threw a cottage pie ina small casserole, all for $3-16 of mince. I onpurposely did extra potatoes to mash. And we will have fried mashed tatty with sausage in it. I have also put the last piece of hogget in the crockpot this morning. I will make heaps of gravy and then freeze that into meal size too. Im not going to have to do too much cooking while I mend in the early days, but we will eat well. Have to go up the road for a battery, one of the smoke alarms is beeping its head off.. Thankfully its not as bad as some we have had lol.. will ask a friend if she has someone tall to change it for us. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-11 09:44:00
Morning ladies, well I have sewing to do today and some lettuce and broccoli plants to put in, but I can't decide whether I should or wait till the awful weather has fizzled out. Stall at the market yesterday, managed to sell a few things so all good. Spoke to a lovely couple from Cumbria, England who said they were enjoying their stay but having trouble with some of the Maori place names. I said "we all do". Anyway they went on to say they thought one of our ferries had a funny name "Waitere" and they thought it was "wait 'ere". I absolutely cracked up. Out to one of the neighbours tonight for a pot luck dinner. Think I might make a plum crumble using a can of plums that I've had for a while and probably won't use otherwise. Last night I was down the club for a meal as a friend was celebrating her birthday. I've been out every night since last Monday and plan to be out again tomorrow night. No wonder I'm not getting much crafting done. Just going to check the forecast and see what I can expect from the weather. Tomorrow's market is cancelled because the cruise ship has cancelled it's visit to us and to Auckland. Wonder what they do instead??? Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-03-11 11:25:00

Hi Popeye, I am just a watcher on this thread but saw you lived on the farm of Bill Cashmore. I grew up at Orere Point on Deery Rd and went to School with Bill, spent many a time in the big house. Our farm is now the Tapakanga Park joberri - 2018-03-11 20:29:00 |
oh wow joberri, small world isn't it. Welcome to the thread :) The house has shaken and the crockery rattled so I guess we've had an earthquake. Our students are from Japan so they are used to earthquakes, didn't faze them a bit. kiwimade64 - 2018-03-11 22:19:00
morning ladies :) We're out and about today, want to beat the wind and rain if it comes. We noticed a cruise ship wasn't berthed at Mt Maunganui the other day kuaka and it was scheduled to be there. Does make you wonder where they go. The Furry One turned seven years old yesterday, you wouldn't think he was getting older by the way he behaves. I still remember holding him when he was only an hour old. Such a tiny roly poly ball. I wonder if that's why he's so close to me as we 'bonded' so early. I have a small bit of unpicking to do today :(, mucked up the placement of some leaves on the cross stitch. I know I shouldn't stitch when I'm tired but I still do it. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-12 08:10:00
Morning ladies, well it looks as though we are copping the tail end of cyclone Hola - we had strong winds yesterday but today the wind doesn't seem so bad, but we have rain - looks like we will have it all day. Went up to one of the neighbours last night for a pot luck dinner. We had a lovely spread of food, good conversation, laughs and music. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening. We had baked potatoes, salad, vegetarian lasagne and braised beef and potatoes, followed by plum crumble and cream (my contribution), apple cake and brownies. Not sure how come we don't end up with 6 bowls of coleslaw or something stupid because it wasn't co-ordinated in any way. Yes kiwimade, I don't know where the ship due in today was coming from apart from Auckland yesterday. Maybe if it was coming from Sydney it would just stay out at sea - there's always a chance that the scheduled stops won't happen, it's always down to the captain to make that decision with the safety of the ship, passengers and crew his first responsibility. It will be disappointing if that happens on the cruise I'm going on next month, but at the end of the day I will still enjoy it, being with friends and not having to do any cooking or dishes for 10 days, it won't bother me too much if our stops are changed or cancelled. Well seeing as the weather is so miserable, I will do some sewing and crochet today (I'm doing a turtle puzzle ball hoping to get it finished for Wednesdays market - if there is one), and maybe some of that dreaded housework. If it's too miserable I might not even bother going to the club this evening to play snooker. See how I go. Have a super day everyone despite the weather. kuaka - 2018-03-12 08:56:00

Wow Joberri it is a small world. We were in the little cottage close to the road between the New House and the Bigger one that John was in. With Bill being in the one right on the edge of the bush/hill. Would have been 87/88. We havent had any bad weather re the cyclone, but it is overcast this morning. not humid tho Yay. Did some extra meals yesterday, so now even if I wanted to do anything, I dont have the room lol. Starting to realise things I wont be able to do straight after my opp. Like carrying clothes baskets of washing down the hall, cos I hold it on my tummy. When I had my heart done. I was changing pillowcases and went to put the pillow under my chin to put the new one on. Didnt realise all those muscles in the chest neck area were on strike lol.. 6 squares to go on the navy. | 13288 | Popeye, my Aunty and Uncle lived in that little house back in the 50s, we left in 1964 to move to Rotorua after my dad was injured working in the Bush up behind Cashmores. I started school in Orere in 1954 and my sisters followed after, at that time there were only about 15 pupils. I go back every year for a walk around the farm as my Dads ashes are scattered there. Must look at listing for Camp, did not know about the sale. joberri - 2018-03-12 09:50:00 |
Ohh wow Joberri.. I cant remember where I saw the listing, I dont think it was on here. But Ill think about it and hopefully will come back to me. I used to love going up the back of the farm, up past the little wee shack by the river. There was a nice area of lush grass surrounded by trees by the creek.. Loved having time in the quiet up there. What a lovely place to have your dads ashes sprinkled. Clive always said he wanted to be buried on the hill that the new house was on, I hope he got his wish. Loved the little house. Do you know if there was a coal range in the large dining room area? I dont know if I ever asked. but there was a closed in fire of some sort. And by the age I think there might have been. And I always loved the bathroom being in the middle of the house lol. Thank you for sharing the memories. I would love to go back and have a wander around. popeye333 - 2018-03-12 12:30:00
Yes I think there was a coal range, I was still very young when I visited them, they worked for Clive and we lived with my Grandparents down Deery Rd, grandparents lived in the old house overlooking the beach at end of road. Lots of good memories living there and wandering around the farm. joberri - 2018-03-12 13:43:00
Oops - I just ordered $100 worth from loveknitting. No idea why I did that - hehe! kuaka - 2018-03-12 14:36:00
morning ladies :) lol kuaka, sometimes we just have to order more wool! Hola is here, lots of wind overnight and this morning. It's cold too, I have the heat pump on 'heat' for the first time. Our students leave us this morning so I'll blat round and change all the sheets and so on. Will put the electric blanket on dad's bed and start making space for him in the bathroom. Our granddaughter is staying this weekend too so it's going to be busy. Dad isn't going to know what struck him lol. I'll find some time today to cross stitch, just want a few quiet hours for me without feeling guilty. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-13 06:43:00
Morning everyone. Oops Kuaka, I like oops like that.. Manhandling all mine yesterday I have come to the conclusion, I have enough wool for now lol.. Thanks Joberri, I always thought there must have been a coalrange there. Its nice when we have fond memories of a place. My stepfather worked for rent while we were there. I remember one particulalry dry summer so Jimmy (my stepfather) would take his truck and some 44 gallon drums up to the creek to fill up for the garden. It was cooler last night Kiwimade. I nearly got my socks to put on but was sitting comfortably so didnt. But I didnt put the fan on last night, well not until 6-30am. Make time for you too, it makes a difference. My time is the hour I read at night. Id go crazy without that. Only did 2 squares yesterday. So Ill get the last 4 navy ones done today. Taking MrP for his bloods this morning. He doesnt know it but Im thinking of carrying on and going to the warehouse. Sometimes you just need to be out, for something other than a medical appointment. Will see how he behaves lol. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-13 09:29:00
Morning everyone HAd a nice time out yesterday.. Strangely tho Id pointed out the rest home one of my "School Mums" was in to MrP. Only to learn later in the afternoon that she had died early in the morning. And Oddly my friend and I were just sayin a week ago we needed to visit, cos its years since we have seen each other.. Sadly a funeral is not the best place to do that. The blessiing is that she is with her darling hubby. They were an awesome couple. So a rather reflective time. Finished the navy squares so Im basically half way on the blanket. May not get to work on it till later. I have beans to pick and blanch, mountains of washing to put away and our pill trays to fill. | 13295 | morning ladies :) I have a few things to tidy outside thanks to Hola, you would think there was nothing left to flatten after two cyclones but nope, there's more. Our students have gone so I've been busy sorting out space in the bathroom for dad - there were so many half used bottles! And stuff we hadn't used for years so out it all went. Old makeup I no longer wear is all gone but I kept the brushes as they are handy to have. And I've remade dad's bed the way he likes it and cleared space in the wardrobe for him. So I think we are ready for his move. Crafting this afternoon I think. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-14 10:09:00
Morning everyone Im off shopping in a few minutes, new world has some awesome specials, like a kilo of cheese for $6. So I want to be there early. Plus i can get the lawnmowing money while Im there. Did three squares yesterday in the grey. im not quite halfway on the blanket. another 3 to go. Cos theres more grey than the others. But Im pleased with my progress. Crochet is my plan for the day, cos I seemed to have picked up a lung full or pollen or fertilisor from the market gardens, when we went through on Tuesday. Kiwimade would it be safe to prune the roses now? Im hoping to have a clean up in the garden on the weekend, and it will look as bad as it does now if I leave the roses like they are lol. Right Ill get up the road before it gets too busy. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2018-03-15 08:25:00
morning ladies :) It might be a tad early to prune popeye, I usually prune around July. I stop de-heading them after this flush of flowers and let them go to hip so they can 'rest'. Some people let their roses have four flowerings a season but I have three. But you could prune now if you absolutely had too, just wait until they are dry to do it. Throw the prunings out or burn, don't compost. Roses are pretty tough. Just a wee tip, when you pick your roses, look at the shape of your bush and pick as if you are lightly pruning, then when it comes time to do it in July, it's not such a big thing to do. Lawn mowing to day, the grass is finally starting to slow down. And maybe some weeding too, the convolvulus is relentless. Crafting this afternoon. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2018-03-15 08:38:00
Morning ladies, a better day at the market yesterday, sold a few things, but I was tired, as I honestly didn't sleep a wink Tuesday night, I was just drifting off to sleep when the alarm went off. I could have thrown it out the window! No real plans for today. The lawns need mowing and I think a friend wants to go out to the boat. We went out there last week, and she went out there herself on Tuesday and did a massive clean up. The inside now is all clean and sparkling. I need to sew some more knitting needle cases and crochet hook pouches and I have a couple of small sewing jobs for a lady I know. Not sure what the weather has in store for us, there is no wind but it is very overcast. I should spray the weeds on the metal driveway at the side of the house before it looks like another lawn! Went for a 6.5km walk last night and the night before and my legs are feeling it this morning. We have only done it a couple of times since Christmas, up till the beginning of December we were doing it nearly every day and it wasn't a problem but I struggled coming back up the hill to home yesterday. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2018-03-15 09:42:00

She should do it weekley, and Im sure customers that stopped going there will come back. I wont be shopping out of town until I can drive again. Have to go back up and get our pills. The text reminders havent come in so Id lost track. We will try and sort that out while Im there. popeye333 - 2018-03-15 12:50:00 |
