morning ladies :) Another beautiful day here, I'm hoping for the promised rain this afternoon though. The birds are slowly becoming confident enough to use my bird feeding station. I haven't put much food out but have filled a dish with water. Once there are a few using it, I'll take pics.

Housework for me today and I need to do the windows. Flies and flyspray make a heck of a mess. Thank goodness for the Karcher window thingy. I've run our of antihistamines so I'll have to go into town today. Town was packed the other day as we are a good stopping point or halfway point for lots of travellers. Add the tourists here to see Hobbiton and it's just madness.

I'll try and get some stitching done today.

Morning everyone
Yep my nose is on the horrible side of seasonal trouble Kiwimade. Its that horrible dry annoying stage.
I have to fill our birdbath daily, the thrush especially like it.

I was hoping not to have to get much shopping this week. I didnt even bother going yesterday, and now have quite a list. Not alot of food on it tho, its all the other stuff lol.

Got the spare room tidied. The carpet is still on the floor lol... Happier with it now.

Also have to go and buy some cartridges for our water filter, thats the most likely cause of my horrible tummy etc. Didnt think about it till last night. Been up here 13.5 years and still cannot drink the water unless its filtered. And I drink alot.

Feel like there will be news today, not sure if it will be the hospital or what but just a feeling in my bones. Maybe Ill get back from shopping to find our visitors finally here lol.

morning ladies :) Another fine sunny day here and no rain yesterday as promised. Didn't expect it so had the hose on the garden. Thank goodness for our pump. Our rain water tank (small one) is still full from spring so I can use that if needed.

I thought we might check out the wetlands in Te Aroha, there is a boardwalk and lots of bird life. Even MrK could cope with this walk as it is listed as an 'easy' walk.

I have the shady part of the garden to weed and a couple of plants to plant and that's me done for another week in the garden. The weeds took over while I was shifting the concrete. Not sure when our friend can bring his digger in as he is on a well deserved break at the moment.

I'll do some more stitching this afternoon when it becomes too hot to be outside.

Morning
have had a few days of rather unsettled weather so all planned picnics etc while guests here had to be cancelled now they are heading home it is a beautiful day! Its been a very pleasant visit though and we managed to fill in the time very well - they even came and helped out at the factory a couple of days and really seemed to enjoy it. Learnt a new fun card game and a lot of catching up, have knitted 3 little tops while sitting and chatting so not wasted time at all.

Have some wool in soaking ready to dye this am as a good drying day.

A bright warm day here too. The lovely cool wind has vanished so this afternoon will be a stinker Im sure.

Time to catch up on big washing againt today. Will hang it outside tho since its warm.

I aim to get the weeds out the front today. I dont want them to get away on me like last time.

Morning ladies, an early start for me as I have a craft market today, so here's hoping for some sales.

Son and his mate are still here and have managed to get my old truck going but it needs a lot of work doing to it, mostly rust but some mechanical. Son is going to take it back to Auckland. While he's here he has managed to do a few jobs for me around the house, but there are a few more still on the "to do" list. I'm hoping he will get a few more done but I also want him to have time to go fishing.

What's the card game called jayemtoo?

We didn't get to go on our walk yesterday so we're going to see if we can go today. I've got to find the Furry One's drink bottle, it has a wee dish attached to it so he can have a drink of water while we are out and about with him. And stops him from trying to drink out of my bottle lol.

I ended up going out shopping with a sista yesterday. My main mission was tp get a plastic crate for a couple of the new christmas ornaments we got that didnt have boxes. Got those and a couple of things at Pak n Save.

I was going to hang out washing this morning but its clouded over.

Afternoon ladies, I had a reasonable sort of day at the market yesterday and again today (not quite as much as yesterday but worth going). I started the New Year off by whacking my finger with a hammer while putting some studs in something. Forgot all about it last night so was in a hurry to do it this morning and get to the market. Telling myself to be careful, I went "whack" and oh my gosh it hurt. The nail is starting to discolour but I expect I will live.

Market again tomorrow but we didn't need to pack up this afternoon as nobody is using the hall tonight. Yesterday we had to pack everything away and store it in a separate room at the hall as the Police apparently use the hall on New Years eve for processing all the drunks and troublemakers!

Looks like there's another market on Thursday but I'm not sure if I'm booked in for it - I'll have to check.

Went to the club last night for a meal with friends, but was home just after 8 and didn't bother going anywhere. Was in bed but still awake when the new year rolled in.

Going to put my feet up for a while and hope that son brings some fish home for tea. His plan was to go fishing.

So I hope everyone has an awesome year ahead, and take care if you are on the roads.

morning ladies :) Ouccchhh for the finger kuaka, that had to hurt!

More rain today - yayy lol, saves me watering the garden and it washes in the fertiliser I spread around the roses.

We're going to visit Dad at some stage today, MrK has to feed and water our friends pets before we go as they are away.

We walked the Furry One around the Te Aroha wetlands the other day and he loved it. Doggie people are so friendly when out walking and it took us twice as long to walk the track as people stopped to chat. We will go back again as it was an easy walk for MrK too.

Still stitching away on this small piece of hardanger, not sure what to do with it though but might keep it as a stocking stuffer for next Christmas.

Morning all - rather cloudy but already warm and very dry - having to water my garden regularly that’s for sure
I agree kiwimade about how walking the dog prompts a lot of conversation with fellow dog owners especially with a dog like Ash who completely ignores other dogs and heads straight to the other walkers for a pat he is convinced everybody goes there just to say hello to him !
Thought I might dig the dolly out of the bin of still to be finished - need to do something but can’t seem to get enthused - I have been watching progress on a cardigan a lady is knitting - it’s all in one piece and am tempted to have a go at it just for the novelty aspect
Hope the market goes well Kuaka - my friend in Sydney who wanted me to crochet doilies to make into baskets sold every one she made and has lots of orders

Good Morning Ladies Happy New Year to you all from very grey overcast day here in Napier. Bugger,just did a complete bedding wash. So here hoping fingers crossed it goes around us. Saying that we need rain the ground is very dry hand watering the gardens.

New Year Day is a mix bag for us as I loss my dad on New Year Day 38 years ago. We went out to the beach and I did a long lonely walk along the shoreline.It's just something I do every year now where every I'am in the world.

Yes Kiwimade we have had some great conversations here over the last 12 months.
Kuaku good hear you you had some sells at the market. hope you got to cook some fresh fish last night.
Going to give myself some time out this afternoon look for a couple of knitting patterns and cut out a bag.

Morning everyone
We had very heavy rain yesterday just as my sil and I got home. So got wet, which I never worry about. I enjoy it.

Sil was sadly let down at spotlight , they only had one brand of sock wool and on one colour. Very poor I thought. I got some wool for MrP's great neice. So will be maroon, navy , grey and I will get some cream to join it together which will look nice I think. Ill do the squares while in hospital otherwise Ill be bored out of my brain. I do hope Ill be in a room with someone else for company.

morning ladies :) Not sure what we are up to today so I will just go with the flow. While the rain has stopped, I might dig out some plants that aren't doing so well and prepare the ground for lavender. I have to go to the vet for flea stuff for the Furry One and I need a new garden fork as I bent the prongs on ours and then they broke off completely! Useless blimmen garden tools that can't hack the work load.

Might potter about with my hardanger this afternoon but I noticed all the fly dirt and spray on the windows again so should be doing that.

I had the house sprayed but I think they must have used a fly attracter - the flys are absolutely diabolical- they are driving Ash nuts not to mention me!
Funny you should say that about Spotlight Popeye my sister went out to Hastings spotlight and said the stock levels were very low

Morning ladies, I had a reasonable day at the market yesterday, not quite as good as the two previous days and it was lunchtime before I sold anything at all (I always prefer early sales, and then at least you can sit back thinking "well at least I've sold something") but I did make a few $$$ and that's what counts.

The market for tomorrow has been cancelled. The forecast is for heavy rain, 40 knot northerlies (straight into the bay) and up to 4 metre swells, so even if the ship arrives, unlikely they will put the passengers ashore, and the locals and other tourists aren't likely to flock into the hall in 40 knot winds and heavy rain, so it's been canned. Give me a chance to spend more time with my son who came home fishless because it rained all day and they didn't go fishing.

We had rain last night but I'm hoping it has soaked in enough so I can mow some lawns this morning. Son had a go at fixing the lawnmower for me, so I'd like to try it.

I also need to get busy and do some knitting. The next market for me will be 14th of this month, there is one on 13th but no room for me on that day unless someone cancels.

AFternoon everyone.
Very warm here, and the clouds are coming in.

Our family have departed. It was a good visit but tiring for me. I did love their little dog Jackie ( Guess what breed she is lol ) was a good little girl. Shes only two but is like an old woman. Very obedient. But she has alot of health issues. Shes Vegan, eat no meat at all but is allowed fish, its all to do with her liver. Ans she on depo cos they cannot put her under anisthetic, to fix her.
She was norty for mummy and daddy this morning and didnt want to eat her creamed rice cos she knew her medicine was in it. But I didnt think that was the problem.
The bowl she is using is too deep and creamed rice is soo thick that when she licked it the bowl moved. So i got her to eat the lot licking it off my finger. No problem with the taste. So I suggest a heavy but shallower bowl and to thin the rice a little with milk.
Missy coped, she spent alot of the time down the hall but she was good with it.

Managed to get some crochet done at night. But have had 3 late nights in a row and Im a bit flat lol..

Taking the christmas stuff down today. Just got the tree to go. And Im reorganizing the containers at the same time.

Glad everyone is keeping well and staying safe. Its been horrific on the roads this holidays.

morning ladies :) ummmm let me guess popeye lol, a Jack Russell. I'm hearing more and more about different health issues in dogs, our boy itches this time of the year so we have a wash for his ears and tummy. He's really good at taking his epilepsy meds as long as you wrap it in a bit of cheese or hide it in his meat at dinner time. His conditions can be managed and he's still a young dog so we saw no point in putting him to sleep as friends suggested.

We're expecting a major storm this afternoon so I'll weed dad's garden for him this morning and be home before it hits. Dad wants me to put more e-books onto his e-reader too so I'll do that for him as well. Might even sneak into the garden centre and have a 'look' while I'm there too.

I've given up buying yarn/wool at Spotlight, I never seem to find what I'm looking for there and can't even find embroidery stuff I need anymore either.

Morning everyone
Family was Guven Jackie, they suspect the previous owners knew she was going to cost a fortune to keep her living a fairly good life. Apparently she had also been run over by a trailer on the farm too. But she is a happy wee thing.

I got all the christmas stuff down and have sorted the packing of it. Now have to get into th wardrobe it all goes in and sort that out so the new crates etc can go in. Then Ill be able to reach the normal ornaments for the lounge.

Soo hot yesterday, and today is going to be the same.. Hopefully the rain will cool it down.

Have to go do my INR.. then have to go to the mobile dump station and see if Im lucky enough to find the cap that BIL left when they emotied thair tank on the way out yesterday.

morning ladies :) Woahhh what a wild night we had last night and it is still windy as heck. Lots of traffic went by yesterday as people were leaving the Bay of Plenty and heading home.

Seeing as we aren't going anywhere today I might as well do some housework and finish the windows. I've cleaned all the door and window frames, just the glass to do. Been procrastinating over it all lol.

It’s a bit stormy looking outside but the sun is shining at the moment. Vaguely heard some heavy rain in the night but tired enough to sleep through it. There’s a big cycle race here today and tomorrow going to be interesting with the wind as it is at the moment - good if a tail wind but not heading into it!
Won’t have to water garden for a few days either.

Agree re wool at spotlight I never seem to find anything I like there especially as I don’t like knitting acrylics. Luckily we have some good wool shops closer so I never have to run out.

Wow a wide and wooly night and its fair blowing out there today. The road was dry at 5am. Wont need to water the garden which is good. But its not doing the berries much good.
Enjoyed our first meal of beans last night. The first ones are always the best.
Got the spare room sorted yesterday, all the christmas stuff Packed away in the wardrobe again. And the menagery out in the lounge. Its like MacDonalds farm in here again lol.

Got a fair bit of the blanket done last night too..

So now we wait, Im all set to be called into hospital. Home is back to normal, plenty of food for MrP and MIssy, and importantly wool sorted for the hospital lol

Good morning - yes it was certainly a wild night here as well Popeye - the rain must have been coming down sideways as it came right up under the 3 metre covered patio and soaked Ash’s daybed that is right against the wall - can hear the sea is very rough so will head up there to have a look - still too windy for dog park will see if it drops.Feel sorry for the cyclists who have been training for the event starting today as well Jayemtoo - used to feel for MrG when he trained and had to give me his serving of Christmas pudding etc for an event round Xmas for it to be ruined by the weather

morning ladies :) It has calmed down finally, omg that wind was ferocious! I have the feijoa to tidy up today and re-stake some plants that were bowled over. All in all, I would say we got off lightly compared to others.

The oven needs a clean so will do that and I have a pile of ironing as well. Always something to do.

Weather has simmered down here a bit. But has turned and too windy to open the front windows. Some good flooding up here at the beaches etc.

I have 6 rows to do on the blanket, so should have that finished in a couple of days.
But I have some more boxes to do. I dont know how I manage to collect them all lol.
We both had Nana naps yesterday which recharged the batteries a bit.

Have to take the cardboard up to the recycle centre and Ill get a few things from the supermarket. Since I didnt do any shopping on Thursday.

Morning all - still a bit breezy and the sky is grey but rain seems to be over - my goodness some of the coastal places have been hit really hard - we used to head up to all these beaches a lot when we had the motor home - the roads were so close to the sea in many places can imagine the mess they have been left with
Popeye take a spare crochet hook with you to hospital - my niece who is a nurse tells me one knitting needle and crochet hooks disappear into the many folds and layers of a hospital bed only to be found when the bed is completely stripped after the patient goes home
Will head out to the park for a while and then not sure what the rest of the day might bring - Just started reading a really good book so that might just be the plan

Morning everyone
Still breezy here but the sun is out and it will dry up some of the wet.

I dont have a spare 6mm Gerry But I will try and get one. Im very OCD about keeping my gear together but yep I dont want to be stuck unable to crochet.
And speaking of that blanket I came up with a design to put into it. Great enices name is Tatiana so Im going to put T's in each corner in the cream, which I dont have yet. Its written in my diabetes test book, cos I was doing our insulin when it popped into my head lol.

Have 4 rows of the cot blanket to do, and then Im going to crochet a small sample to have a bit of a play with a border, I just want to see how it will sit on the main one.

Beans to freeze this morning too.

Afternoon ladies, son went home this morning and phoned later to say he had arrived safely, so that's a relief. Always pleased to hear he's home safely.

There wasn't a breath of wind when I got up this morning, but boy it's windy now. Nice cool breeze blowing through the house. I've done piles of washing and it's all dry. Have to bring it in and fold it all. Have done the vacuuming all except for the entrance into the billiard room which looks pretty messy. I'm going to get the carpets cleaned but this time I won't hire the rug doctor, I'll get someone in to do it. I don't think I can lift the rug doctor into my car and by the end of the week I probably won't have the Safari, son is supposed to be coming up next weekend to take it away. I will take it for a WOF first and hope it passes, then I can re-register it.

Didn't do any knitting yesterday, must do some this evening. I still want to get a second pukeko done before the weekend, and I only have to do the body and five claws - I've done all the other bits. Actually be nice to get a third one done, but I also want to do another puzzle ball and I've already done one section of that, so two more to go.

Have to be up early tomorrow, picking a friend up from the airport at 9.20, just the local airport though, not Auckland - there is no way I would drive to Auckland airport to pick anyone up or drop them off.

I really need to go and vacuum the car and give it a quick shampoo - it's well overdue. Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon (well actually I can, but I really need to do it).

morning ladies :) We're into town this morning to buy the lining for the porch so MrK can finish that bit and I can paint. There's a few other bits and bobs to do while there so worth the trip.

I finished my small piece of hardanger, am pleased with it even though I know there are a few mistakes. It can be used as a stocking stuffer for next Christmas, might get organised and do a few small handmade things for each person.

I mowed the lawn yesterday, omg lol, MrK had sprayed that 'weed'n'feed' the week before so it had to be left a week. Fine, I thought, not much growing so mowing will be fine if left for a week. Then the cyclone hit and the lawn went nuts!

MrK turns 75 this year and he wants to go fishing. So I'm going to book him a fishing trip but it will be in Samoa or Fiji or one of the islands. Will use the money he thinks we are saving for a new bathroom. Friends are coming too to add to the surprise.

Better get moving.

Its fine at present a few clouds coming in tho.

But hopefully the boys will get the lawns done, they will be flat out this week trying to catch up.

Sounds like a wonderful idea re the fishing trip Kiwimade. Ive always wanted to do something like that for MrP, who is 72 this year. But he doesnt have any upper body strength now. But he wont part with his fishing gear even tho he knows he cant use it.

Ended up ducking into town yesterday to get a new frying pan and I finally got a ladel with a pouring spout. Ive been looking everywhere for one for a very long time. I was soo excited lol.. Also got another real rubber scraper too. A friend brought two, cos we had been looking for those for a while too... Good on Mitre10 Mega for making us both Happy lol.

Have beans to freeze this morning, and then Ill get this blanket finished. Im kinda over it. I should Never plan the next project until Ive finished the one Im working on.. Mind you I dont like having to projects on the go at once, so Ive only ever done that once lol. Didnt like it.

Been thinking about getting someone else to do my cross stitch. But I have no idea how to figure out what to pay for it to be done. Do any of you have any idea how people charge? I got it years ago its Green Bamboo. I love the simplicity of it .

Right better hustle the butt lol

morning ladies :) I was washing the outside windows the other day and noticed the paint is beginning to crack on the outside of the house. It's only been three years and cost us a small fortune to have it done. So we're expecting a call from the Resenes rep as we have a guarantee. Am really pi**** off about it.

Anyhoo, I've been knitting a few more peggy squares to add to the pile for the single blanket I started last year. I'm once more using up my stash before I buy more wool. I did this last year and it worked, I just don't have the storage in this house like I used to. Once popeye's cross stitch arrives it will be no biggie to stop the knitting and stitch.

But first I'm going to spray Dad's oxalis for him and grocery shop. And while I'm out and about visit a travel agency. MrK will never know lol.

Finished the blanket yay lol

Last night I saw a picture of a hexagon granny square type blanket. I hope to find it again on FB. I had a tutu with it last night. But am still getting a puckering so need to ask how many chain between the trebles and hopefully will have it sorted. I was getting the shape right but the second attempt was better than the first.

Nothing else planned today..

Hehe Sneaky Kiwimade re the travel shop.. Reminds me of the times I had Mum sneak in thinks I had got MrP for christmas. He was never interested what was in Mums shopping bags lol.

morning ladies :) The whole house, garage and p ump shed were done at the same time popeye, from roof to bottom including windows. Still haven't heard back.

I've booked in the rug doctor today so will run the vacuum over the floor and move some smaller pieces of furniture. Then lunch with a friend and maybe begin painting the new ceiling in the porch later in the afternoon.

But first, the birds are tapping their toes impatiently for the small amount of wild bird food and fresh water I put out for them. It's not much as it's summer and there should be plenty of food around for them. Just enough so they know where to look come winter.

I just filled the bath for the birds here. I must sort out a seed container for them too. Use to do it a while back. And we dont tend to have much left over bread these days.

Just need to print the invites out on nice paper and get them out. MrK is going to phone around his family and let them know what's happening as well. He is being well and truly spoilt with his birthday spread over the year.

I'll have some painting to do shortly as MrK will be finishing off the porch lining sometime this week.

The carpet is still damp from the rug doctor but should dry completely today. It's come up just lovely.

Morning everyone .. Just

Having a major flat battery today. Havent been up long at all.

Then found out our phones etc werent working. Have done a big reset, with sparks help. And they suggested doing a refresh monthly to reset things to prevent it happeneing again..

Was meant to go shopping and to post the cross stitch but that will have to wait. I wont drive until I feel normal and not in a fog again.

Morning ladies, looks like being another beautiful day here. I had a very flat battery day on Tuesday, slept well but was so tired, and every time I sat down I just dozed off. I think it was the sudden change to a very hot day - or maybe I'm just getting old, but I felt very weary.

I have a craft market tomorrow and Sunday and not really looking forward to sitting in a stuffy hall all day, I'm hoping for some breeze wafting in through the doors. I have finished a second pukeko (the both need their little white fluffy bits under their tails but that will only take a jiffy). Need to do another puzzle ball (I have a third of one done) so might take that to knit and natter this morning. Went there on Wednesday and there was nobody else there so I came home and had a coffee and saved myself $5 but I will go today instead, and then go shopping.

Took my old truck in yesterday for a WOF and it got one, so today I will fill it with diesel and my son is supposed to be getting a lift up tomorrow and taking it home. It needs quite a bit of work doing on it and I don't want to pay for it to be done, but son can do the work so he can have it. Paul won't be very happy but that's too bad. I really don't need two vehicles and can't really afford to keep two on the road, so it's best I give it to my son.

Right, I have weeds to spray before it gets too hot or too windy.

Morning everyone,

Yep back to normal this morning.. Yesterday was the worst Ive had in a long time and hung around all day.

Have yet to check my messages to see if we are shopping today or not.

But either way I have to go get our repeats and I want a hank of rope to rope up Missys scratch post. Shes just about killed the carpet on the one I made for her. And Im hoping that rope will make less mess. And I want to get it done before my surgery or it will have to wait till Im all mended, cos I will sit on the floor to do it.

No craft at the mo, but Ill pick something up eventually.

I used to love cleaning ovens and chest freezers Kiwimade. When I was younger and it was a novelty lol.. I dont use ours often now so it seldom needs it. I bake in there but I dont think Ive ever cooked a piece of meat in it.

I don't use my oven very much either popeye, I've got two, a standard size wall oven with a small oven above it. I've hardly ever used the standard one, but often made casseroles in the smaller one, but if I ever do a roast, I use the electric frying pan or use the small oven with the meat in an oven bag, and still do the spuds in the frying pan.

My carpets need cleaning but I think I will get them done this time. I struggled to lug the rug doctor up and down the stairs, and as I won't have my truck, I think I would also struggle getting it in and out of the car.

Morning everyone

What a stinker of a night for the heat.. Im not enjoying it thats for sure.

I have one of those glass round air fryers/ovens Kuaka. I do all our roasts and chicken pieces etc in there. And it makes beautiful roast veges. Saves alot of heat too.

Today Im going to recover Missys scratch pole... Want to do it now so I wont struggle getting on the floor to do it lol.. And I have dishes to do and beans to pick and freeze.
The scarlet runners arent doing as well as the butter beans, so I might leave them until tomorrow and pick them and have with tea. Yum.

morning ladies :) That's a good idea giving the truck to your son kuaka, it's one thing less to worry about.

It's meant to get really hot this afternoon so this morning I will blat round and do what I need too.

MrK has almost finished lining the porch, just the trim and windowsill to do then I can get stuck in and paint. The timber people have to take back some of the timber and replace it with what we ordered so it will be a few days before the tiles can go down. I need to paint first anyway.

Crafting has been a bit slow, not feeling all that motivated.

Morning everyone
Another hot night and will be worse later.

I started roping missy's scratch pole yesterday and its amazing how much rope it will need. I got one roll of 15 meters and Im only a third of the way.

But there wont be much action on it today cos Ive totally written off my wrist. Using the staple gun. Its the worst its ever been... Need to see if they make a "ladies" one lol.
Need to go up the road but will see what a friend is up to, she might taxi me around rather than driving. And Ill take a oxy med when Im home.

So the pole will be on hold for a few days, have done enough that she can scratch on it, down low.

Ill be avoiding the sun..
