That is so impressive - and a great idea to put blackboard paint on the lid.

Wicked Kiwimade that has turned out AWESOME... And very practical too with the blackboard paint on top... Im sure your daughter will be stoked.

Hi Jayemtoo.. Glad you have had a nice break. new babies are just yummy eh...

Must look up this magic loop knitting and see what is involved.

Think I will go and make plans in the office for the wall unit. Will be storage if not anything else.

Need to sort it out lol

The deed is done.

I had to empty two bookcases and move them and my chest of drawers full of wool around so I could get the Unit into the office.
Thank goodness I got MrP a trolley thingee a couple of christmasses ago. It was a huge struggle but we got the beast moved.

Ive managed to get the spare mattress stood up properly too.

I have the "sideboard" set up. With the top on it and a lace tableclothe on top. Not the one I wanted to use, cos that's obviously in a crate somewhere , cos I couldn't find it lol.

So everything is out of the bedrooms. And tomorrow I can lay out the stuff I still want on show.

And already it feels better... And I have the bonus of extra storage space in the office lol.

Maybe the buyer did us a fava in the end lol

Am glad you have it all done popeye, there is something satisfying in achieving your goals for the day.
No knitting today I suspect as I'm off to the cemetary to see Mum and leave flowers for Mothers Day tomorrow and we have friends over for tea tonight.
Have kinda walked the Furry One, we witnessed an accident (no one hurt thankgoodness) so that was the end of that walk as police were involved. Oh well, MrK can walk him this afternoon lol.
Happy knitting :)

No knitting done for me this weekend as I am doing housework. Am having my dad, brother, sister and her fiance for lunch tomorrow. It would have been mums 64th birthday, so we are all meeting at the crematorium and then back to my place for kfc for lunch. It's been a long standing tradition having kfc for family members birthdays so why should mum miss out. My sister and I are meeting at the mall to have our pendants engraved. "In our hearts forever", it's a heart pendant that has a wee cz on it and some ashes in it. And I'll go to silvermoon and get another charm for my Pandora bracelet. Happy mothers day to you all.

Ohhh Im late lol...

Been busy this morning. went o get MrPs script and some has been left off, thatll teach him for changing dr lol.
Had a look around Paperplus for something to spend my pressie card on. They actually had two knitting books lol... Didn't get anything. I was tempted to buy a spare phone. But Ive decided next time they have shredders on special Ill get a new one since the previous died.

Have been sorting out the cookbooks and health remedy books etc. Have got the sideboard layed out nicely. Still have four empty cubbyholes. But that's ok for now. The kitchen table is back to normal instead of looking like a garage sale table covered in stuff lol.

And have made a pot of soup at the same time too. Got a huge ham bone, worth $21-50 for $4.99 heaps of meat on it. had a sandwhich made with some of it lol. Smells yummy, a shame I don't eat it tho.
Will knit later cos I have listings finishing.

Lovely fine day out there , albeit a chilly wind.

Wont be doing anything for Mothers day. Mums too far away for us to visit now. Yummm KFC...

awww whiskey, I know the feeling of loss. Am back from the cemetary and there were quite a few families there laying flowers at gravesides. It's three years next month since mum died and we miss her every day. She will be especially missed when her first great-grandchild is born in September.
Am about to make the potao bake and apple crumble for dinner tonight - at least they will be done lol before we start drinking wine. Then might find some time for me and knit for a while.
Happy knitting :)

A lovely day to be out and about if you can avoid the wind..

Ummm I just did an order with deramores, 32 balls of wool and 2 more books.. Saved $16 with my 15% off voucher.. Very pleased.

Will be interesting to see when it arrives, cos its a bit later in the day than I normally order.

Making toad in the hole for my tea. MrP is having some of the soup I made this morning.... so we are set

Well it started off nice and sunny but that didn't last long and it's been raining since before midday. Cold too. Anyone would think it's almost winter. I've been knitting. Using a pattern book I bought recently and found a mistake in it. Grrrrr! I managed to figure it out, but someone less experienced would have had trouble making sense of it.

Morning all. and Happy Mothersday to the Mothers.

Ohh Kuaka now that would be annoying.. proof readers and testers need to get their act together.

I have had a couple of days off the knitting, while I got my side board etc sorted. I wont knit till tonight either.
I plan to sort out the last bit of the office, and tidy the wool drawers to fit my next order in..
I did it yesterday and not totally sure where Im going to store another 32 balls of wool lol OOOPPPPSSSS.

Where theres a will theres a way tho.

Its a beautifull day out there. I don't think I could even find a full load of washing lol

Have a wonderfull day everyone

morning and happy Mothers Day to all the mums :). Just sanded down and put the first coat of paint on daughter's wooden chair (which is being returned to her :P), will do another coat in about an hour or so. About to make a cuppa and then knit for a while... omgg.. lol.. knitting in the morning!
How blimmin annoying finding a mistake in a pattern, just as well you have the experience to know what to do kuaka.
mmmmm toad-in-the-hole, haven't had that for ages. And popeye, you will find a home for the wool lol, I've just bought a bigggg sea chest on TM and when I get it will store my wool in that (after I have restored it :P).
Happy knitting.

Morning ladies, a lovely sunny morning here but a cool wind blowing, we've got the heat pump going (well actually I have, his nibbs is still in bed - maybe I should go and check that he's okay)

I found a second mistake in the same pattern yesterday. I looked in the book to see how to contact the author but nothing in there, googled and nothing to indicate how to contact her. Blimming annoying alright.

kuaka - 2013-05-12 10:28:00

Good morning everyone and happy Mother's Day to all the mothers. I can't get to the cemetery today to "see" mum but will go next weekend.

Haven't been on this thread much in the last week, what with one thing and another - families, grrr!!! Anyway, that's another story.

Have finished the knitting on the baby cardigan and just have to sew up the side seams and put the buttons on. Have started another pair of fingerless gloves for a great-niece. Have finished one and am about to start the second one.

kiwimade - love the box. You have done a great job. Look forward to seeing the sea chest when you have restored it.

popeye - you have certainly been busy having a good old sort out.

kuaka - yes it certainly is annoying when you find a mistake. A couple of years ago, a poster/designer on this MB asked for someone to knit/proof read a couple of patterns she had done - they were for pockets of all things. She said I would get a free copy of her pattern book. I did about three for her and did find a few mistakes which I corrected. I never did receive my free copy of the book - lol.

whiskey - you certainly brought back memories for me. When my mother was still alive, she loved KFC. My sister and I would get it for her occasionally. Then, she decided she wanted to have it every time Canterbury/Crusaders won a game. They did pretty well for a few years, lol.

Beautiful day here in Christchurch. I took the fur for a walk at 8.00 am and it was just lovely, not a breath of wind.

No wind here either. But I haven't ventured out.

Have tidied the office and taken photos of the rest of the cross stitch stuff. I collected a fair bit in a short time. Will list that today..

Once that goes I can use the bookcase for wool I suppose. Keep the unused balls on the shelf and the used with ends in the drawers. Ill get it sorted Im sure.

KFC sounds good. Sadly its 15 mins away for us... Which is probably a good thing lol

Have a good trip Kiwimade.. Lovely day for travel..

I will be back to my knitting this morning after the washing is out and Ive posted some sales.

Im on the ball today. Have even got some stewed apple thawing and some blackberries out of freezer . Making MrP a bacon and egg pie and Blackeberry and apple pie for his dinner. Not often he has 2 pies in one day. But he needs a spoil for putting up with all my moving around in the last couple of weeks.

Have a great day everyone

Well done popeye. Looks impressive.
Sad day yesterday.
Tania and i had our pendants engraved "forever in our hearts" and then we went to silvermoon where i bought 3 charms for my Pandora bracelet. An angel, a bouquet of flowers with "love" on it and an orange murano glass bead (mum's fav. colour.). They all go with the "mum" charm i bought when she died and the mother of pearl charm for her birthday last year. Not to mention the Chinese "peace" charm too. Dad got very emotional at the crematorium so my brother rode with me back home so dad could have some time alone and we all had yummy kfc for lunch and i made vodka jellys for dessert and my sister and i polished off 2 bottles of wine. No wonder i needed a nana nap after everyone left.
My fur baby gave me a box of rose chocolates for mothers day. All gone lol

Sounds like a hard time whiskey, but I think one prepaires for it being hard too.
I need to speak to my young man to find out where he hid my pressie... lol...
Im pleased with the all over effect of my new layouts.

Wonder if NZMU has got her deramores wool yet. shes been waiting since late April... Must find her thread. Apparently you cant lodge a lost claim thing till its been a month..

I put my order in on Saturday so fingers crossed it will be here by the end of the week

awww whiskey, hugs to you. We lost mum three years ago next month and it can be tough going, especially around Mothers Day.
We're back from Auckland and omgg I am definately a country girl lol. Blimmen heck there were a few nutters on the road - someone decided he didn't want to turn right so I'll just pop over to the next lane... fine... BUT for goodness sake look out for me! Another coat of paint and we would have had a nice ding and no bumper. Husband is hopeless at directions but we found the place in the end.
Might just pour a glass of wine lol.
Happy knitting :)

Enjoy the wine Kiwi, .

I don't like driving in Auckland unless my friend is with me for directions. She used to be a courier so knows her way around. And if its somewhere new to her she navigates like I do. Giving the names of the streets coming up, a few roads from where we need to be. So Ive got plenty of time to be in the right lane etc before we get to a turn.

Glad you made it back safely tho...

Enjoy your knitting

Hi all, haven't been posting as had a tough week last week and yesterday had a growth removed from the side of my finger. Have not been able to knit, crochet or cross stitch for over a week :(
Up until yesterday had been able to keep up withe the big dogs massage and physio sessions though and he is making slow progress.
Am very tired today as the finger was sore and kept me awake a lot last night, it's much better after a dressing change today though. Will have to be bandaged for a few more days yet and the lump has been sent away for testing, but doctor is 99% sure it's a benign granuloma.
Am so bored as can't really do much but just wanted to pop in and say hi to you all.
Love your teddy bear kiwicarol, that yarn is so nice :)
Take care everyone xoxo

Just be carefull cos once you bang a finger you seem to always do it from then.

Hi All..

Been a slowish day today.. But I have finished the legs of teddy. so only arms to go.
Eagerly awaiting my deramores order.. NZMU's order is missing in action, hasn't arrived in nearly 3 weeks. She has a thread about it.
We all have our fingers crossed.

Hope all the wounded bits are mending...

Hi all, yes I have lots of books on my e-reader popeye so that's keeping me out of trouble lol.
Hope both your order and nzmu's arrive soon.
My finger is much better today, still have to keep it bandaged but it's not so sore. Have to be careful not to knock it, as if it bleeds I will have to go back and have it cauterized again :(
So want to do some knitting though lol. Looking forward to seeing your teddy when finished xo

Beautiful day here, sunny and warm but will start cooling down soon.
Thinking of everyone xo

Morning all..

tried to get the second teddy finished last night...And wouldn't you know it Ive run out of wool with 7 small decreasing rows to do. Cheap wool from the $2 type shops. So im hoping one out here has it. I got it in Pukekohe last time we were there.
Soo annoying lol.

Shopping this morning...

Have a good day all

morning, busy day yesterday looking after a friends granddaughter, the dog and this little girl ran each other ragged lol (dog is still recouperating I think lol) so no knitting done.
Once I get lawns done and washing out I'll have some knitting time. Need to get all that done as the weather isn't looking good for the weekend. We have family coming for the weekend anyway.
Happy knitting :)

Yay I managed to get the wool I needed without leaving town... would have had to spend $10 on petrol to buy a $2 ball of wool to finish a teddy lol. First shop I went to had it so I have finished the knitting, so will start putting them together later.
Then I can start on Emily for craftylady.

Lovely day here too Kiwimade, not wind or anything.

Got the shopping in quick smart time. MrP stayed home. reckoned he best wait incase my wool order arrived. I don't expect it till at least Saturday. But it was easier, cheaper and faster without him. lol.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

He is cute Carol...

I finished sewing all the pieces last night. Will stuff and put them together today. I want to get proper eyes. So they wont have souls till I go to see what I can get.

And Im waiting on a Deramores order so not planning on going anywhere until that is here safely

An update on the leaky car, $483 later it still leaks... Have had it back to the panel beater he cant find it.. MrP not impressed to say the least.
So yesterday I got a blue Tarp and we have used bungy cords on it.. Looks horrible but if it helps keep the coming rain out of the car I don't care.
Well have a good day all. Hope you are all mending and getting some good knitting hours in.

morning ladies :) No knitting for me today as we are off to Rotorua for a family lunch. Have our daughter and her partner coming too which is lovely. My only worry is leaving my sister's westy and our JR alone for too long as they get into mischief together. Have already had a throw from the couch used as a tug of war game last night and the westy rolling in liquid manure... yay... a wet stinky dog! Better make sure my knitting is out of jumping reach!
Happy knitting :)

Wet here today, so a good day to catch up on all those unfinished projects.

daisygirl - 2013-05-18 09:08:00
1290

Morning all...

Another wet day here too... I have finished the bears as far as I can go. Cos I want to buy real eyes for these two. Since kids wont be playing with them. But I had already sewed them up before I realised that eyes come with washer type thingees on the back. Long time since I needed to buy eyes.
So I have left the nose off, that's a knitted piece to be sewn on and we will go to spotlight to get some eyes and use my $40 off voucher. Its too much to resist. And I can get firmer wool for legs and bottoms, so the big toys stand up better.
Did I tell you the little girl that the lolly girl was made for doesn't like it. Shes scared of it.. oops.

Started the pantaloons for Emily last night.. Will sort the colours for her out later.

Have a safe trip Kiwimade, and fingers crossed the house is still ok when you get back. Our foxy used to get the toilet rolls and shred them behind the door. Which meant getting in was dam near impossible. The little house we were in didn't have a toilet door just a curtain... It didn't take me long to remember to put the rolls up before we went out.

popeye333 - 2013-05-18 09:24:00
1291

Hi all. Had a busy day today. But have just finished Emilys pantaloons. Will start another piece tonight.
Really have to do some housework tomorrow... well the toilet bathroom and floors anyway lol.
Hope you have all had a great weekend. And got lots of knitting etc done

popeye333 - 2013-05-19 15:51:00
1292

After all the family left (dog included lol) I managed to get about a quarter of another panel done for my throw. Am very pleased with it, have made three and stitched them together already and need to do one more when this panel is finished. Am loving this wet weather, no guilt about not getting garden etc done!
Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-05-19 21:26:00
1293

I can't decide whether I'm pleased about this showery weather or not, I don't feel guilty about not getting the gardening done, but I am trying to prepare the roof for painting, by scrubbing at it with a wire broom. It's hard work and I can only do a small section at a time, and it's a big roof. At least when the preparation is done the painting won't take long. Busy knitting whenever I can, have several projects on the go at the moment, but the one I really want to get finished I can only do in the daytime 'cos it's very dark charcoal, and it's patterned, and I'm doing the neck shaping and armhole shaping, and I need to sit and concentrate otherwise I know I'll stuff it up.

kuaka - 2013-05-19 22:14:00
1294

morning ladies! You're braver than me kuaka, I don't 'do' heights and there would be no amount of money in the world which would entice me onto the roof!
Got my sewing machine back from daughter over the weekend, am going to make the cushion cover for her chair I have repainted and take the hems up on MrK's new jeans. Might whip round some embroidery fabric too and hem it so if I feel like cross stitch or whatever, I have the fabric 'good to go'.
Have a jack russsell at my feet wanting to play so had better move before he bashes my leg with his tug rope (I am soooo well trained lol).
Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-05-20 08:04:00
1295

Morning All,,, Lost of work being done I see... I don't mind heights but I don't think Id be on the roof either lol...
Cant wait to see the chair Kiwimade. And cushion. Once I get my teddies eyes Ill show you all the rocking chair "dressed" I have the magic square blanket mum made on it. But wanted the teddies for there too.
Im going to the med centre this morning so will show the girls in the lab.

Lol at the JR demanding his walkies.. Our cat is a demanding redhead and he gets his own way 90% of the time.
The sun is out for now.. Lawnmowing men meant to be here this morning. I am going to have to have a word with them about ring barking my plants with the weed eater.
Got half way up the head of the body part of Emily last night. Will knit again later

popeye333 - 2013-05-20 08:43:00
1296

Well you ladies wouldn't like to be on the roof at the front of the house 'cos it's much higher than normal (the basement is double height then the house is on top of that) but at the back it's just like a normal single storey house, 'cos the section slopes and there's no basement under the back of the house. I use a safety harness when I'm on the high part.

Had to do some housework today and some baking, but I still managed to do a bit on the roof and some knitting. Better get cracking as I've just got a small order to do.

kuaka - 2013-05-20 21:10:00
1297

Hi all..

Well the spare room looks like a wool shop now. I got my deramores order yesterday. That was 31 balls of wool. And today we went to spotlight, since they kindly are giving out $40 off vouchers, you have to spend $100 to get the $40 off. So with the help of a gift card I got another 31 balls of wool and eyes for the teddy bears for the grand sum of $11-11. Oh and I used my gold card too, so with the vip discount, the gold card and the voucher it was a cheap visit.

Also brought me a new bed. Saved $100 on that by Not buying locally and the delivery was $3 less to have it delivered from Manukau City than it is to have one delivered from Pukekohe which is heaps closer lol

Just hope I will get a good sleep in it. Have to change all the beds around again. But at least I know MrP will sleep better by being back in his own bed.
I jump around too much and he has a broken back so we have separate beds. Plus I like to read late.
Im going to put the eyes on the bears and will do pictures later.
Hope everyone has had a wonderfull day.

We really enjoyed our day out, MrP did not snap once. And we got home and everything inside before a shower of rain.

Sounds like you've had a very productive day popeye. Bit like me really.
I got up early to put tea in the slow cooker, then went back to bed, got up and boxed up a trademe purchase, popped down to the post office to get a quote to ship it. Emailed buyer when i returned home. Ebay purchase arrived but seller sent the wrong item. Emailed them saying i will keep the wrong one (can sell it on here) but i still need the correct item so they offered me free shipping if i buy the same item again.
All up i have tea cooked, parcels wrapped ready to send and my idea for the trademe christmas tree ornament swap coming together.
Still got 8 hours of work this afternoon before i can rest.
Editted to add........And 2 rows of knitting done lol

You have been busy Whiskey.

I have cheated we brought KFC for our lunch, but only ate the chips. Will have the chicken for tea. We had lamb in the crockpot yesterday was yummy.
Ive put those blasted eyes in the teddy. NEVER AGAIN will I decide to use them after the toy is sewn together. They have a stupid little plastic bendy washer behind them. In the end I didn't use the washers, I tied them in and then glued them in too. Since kids wont be playing with them and they will only be decoration it will work.
I have them drying in the hot water cupboard and Ill sew the noses on later and do photos.
I have done about 6 rows on the head of Emily.
I have two parcels to post tomorrow. Then home to wait for maybe the bed and the local secondhand shop is coming to look at the headboard I have here.
Bed may be Thursday.
Ohh I like the sound of the Christmas tree ornament swap, how does it work?

wow busy beavers on here! I went to Spotlight today and found a book I have been wanting for a while about Stump Embroidery. It was damaged so I asked for a discount and got a very good one. Then Animates also had a sale on doggy toys and our boy's toys are all chewed to nothing so I bought him two soft chew toys and used a voucher card they gave me at Christmas time. A nearly $50 purchase cost me $11 all up so am very happy. Also bought a few baby things for daughter at the Warehouse sale with 30% off. Am quite chuffed!
Got the swiss darning done on the 4th panel for my throw, one panel to go then I can do the border and it's done.
I didn't know you could use a Gold Card at Spotlight popeye. Do they accept it as well as the VIP card? or do you have to use one or the other? I have one too *blushes with embarrassment as she is not 65* as I am also 'piggy backing' on husband's super until I can find a job.
