I see you girls are busy as usual I am in heaven here.It is really quiet so I have been knitting with my merino 1ply doubled of course. The singlet is so tiny and it is hard knitting 2ply. It is so fine but lovely wool. I got it from down south grizzly. Lynus has wandered up to me but Dunhill takes awhile to get close. I have also watched movies on sky but one of them was so scary I could hardly concentrate on my knitting. Ha ha. Maybe people are getting ready for next winter and new babies grizzly as I am.

Good morning ladies thought I would pop in for a quick visit. I was meant to be in Hamilton this weekend for the Quilters and Craft Fair but the friend I was travelling with got sick so we cancelled. I had yesterday off work as we were going to travel then, so I spent it in my sewing room and almost finished another quilt top. I am making three at the same time - all for Christmas. I am also in a TM Xmas ornament swap so busy on that project as well. And I have to make two strip quilted Christmas stockings for the newest grandchildren before Christmas. So, not a lot of time for chatting at present :) I did have other projects planned for Christmas as well but I think I might have to leave them this year.

You sound as busy, barbrose, as makerealbany is relaxed! Lovely day down here today, have to retrieve our lawn mower off our son before we can do the lawns. They are starting to grow very quickly, aren't they. And the vege garden is doing extremely well, too. Don't you just love spring with the blossom and bulbs in flower, and the new growth on the trees. Everything is so new. Quite inspiring really.

1255

Well done barbrose. grizzly you have a busy weekend planned. The weeds have gone made everywhere. I hate playing catch up but with all the rain I have not dine any spraying for so long. I hope you have the same lovely weather we have here today.

smartgirl - 2008-09-20 11:25:00
1256

Welcome barbrose What a busy gal you are. I am so relaxed at the moment as I have a hell of a week coming up.

makerealbany - 2008-09-20 23:43:00

Yes I love spring Reminds me of life on the farm. New lambs and calves etc. Our lawns are like paddocks. Same deal with the community lawnmower grizzly. Ha ha.

So much for the lazy Saturday. Got all the housework caught up on and then got a call to the hospital urgently gor hubby's mum. Family hadn't even let us know she was in there!!! We were all gathered for 3 hours taking it in turns to be with her when we were all asked to leave. The Nurse pretty much told us off for 'waiting for her to die'! No-one could tell us who made the call to the family in the first place! Her heart rate is 180 and they are trying all sorts of drugs to bring it down. Dreadful afternoon, really.

grizzly4 - 2008-09-21 10:28:00
1259

Oh grizzly how awful. i bet you did not sleep too well last night. I hope they can sort things out. I dont understand why you could not stay with her, how heartless some people are. My thoughts are with you and your family. Keep in touch.

smartgirl - 2008-09-21 12:38:00
1260

makereal, how is your little retreat going I love spring, it makes you glad to be alive. Not so nice today but I will get to do some spraying later today. I hope everyone is having a good day.

smartgirl - 2008-09-21 12:39:00
1261

Poor grizzly Some people are so awful. As if? Hope they get that blood pressure down. Poor dear. I dread it when Mum goes to hospital, because she never complains and you do not know how sick she is. I also detest hospital environments. So darn sanitizing and sterile in more ways than one.

makerealbany - 2008-09-21 15:43:00
1262

Hi smartgirl My retreat ends tonight. Drat. Have enjoyed it so much and have had both daughters visiting. Ha ha. Cannot run away no matter how hard I try. I am so blessed. This is a nice place and there are lots of elderly around here. They are all so friendly. Most of them live alone. Surviving partners. Sad really but they all keep an eye on each other in a very nice way. I need to buy a woolwinder. Winding the Merino 1ply by hand takes the patience of a saint and saintly I am not ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-09-21 15:48:00
1263

Wool winders vary so much in price! I saw some less expensive ones a couple of months back but now they are ranging from 45 up. Will just have to wait. We have things happening in the cottage as well as the house. Busy, busy.

makerealbany - 2008-09-23 18:00:00

Back again Had to dash off and mind bub for a few mins whilst her mother ran her bath. SIL is laying floorboard in one of the bathrooms to lay tiles on. It is his first attempt at tiles. Should be fun. Ha ha. Ooh I am so mean. Spotlight are having a big sale starts Thurs to Sun. Sent me vouchers in the mail. Wonder if they have a cheap wool winder. I had one years ago in Aussi but had to leave it behind with lots of crafty things. Left it all to a good home though. My friend benefited, miss that girl too. We write. She is not into modern tech.

makerealbany - 2008-09-23 18:19:00
1265

Well they did not send me any vouchers makereal, do you get discount without them.

1266

Hello there, Haven't been near the computer. It's work, hospital & bed with a bit of food thrown in to keep us going. MIL has now on morphine infusion. So sad that she is suffering this long. Hard on the family members from out of town trying to juggle the rest of their lives as well.

grizzly4 - 2008-09-24 08:15:00
1267

Yes it is sad for you all grizzly My Dad told me when he was still alive"Once they put me on morphine daughter I am off to the big sleep". He died the next day. I was sad but glad he was no longer suffering. Best wishes to all your family.

makerealbany - 2008-09-24 12:42:00
1268

Smartgirl they sent them out in a voucher book If you are a Spotlight member. Ring them up and ask for it. Have to go and have some liver tests tomorrow. Not fuctioning properly. Bugger it. Have felt strange to say the lest. My surviving grandkids ages are 20, 18, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 5, and 8 months.

makerealbany - 2008-09-24 12:47:00
1269

Makereal, so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Good luck for tomorrow. I got my vouchers today. Grizzly take care of yourself, we are all thinking about you and your family. Its not fair.

Had a peaceful evening last night. Hubby and S took baby B up to see Mum in the afternoon so we could have an evening at home. Was lovely having wee B for a visit as well. He's quite a character now, they grow so fast, don't they.
Mum is on morphine infusion now but still hanging in there. Amazing really for a woman of 85 who has suffered from chronic asthma all her life and heart problems for the last 10 years!

grizzly4 - 2008-09-25 08:13:00
1271

That is amazing alright grizzly She sure is a fighter. Yes they do grow up fast Little Miss 8 months loves her swimming and is up to all sorts of mischief now. Have to watch her like a hawk, ha ha. She has learn,t to growl her disapproval of things which is so funny. She has me laughing all the time. I am at Orewa with my 14 year old grandson. Mum is at a school camp with his sister. They are home tomorrow. Stepdad went back to work in Malaysia on Wednesday so we are enjoying each others company. He is a lovely boy and likes casseroles. Ha ha. Easy to please.

1272

Done any shopping yet smartgirl At Spotlight I mean. I may go tomorrow Did not feel up to it today. Still knitting that Merino 2 ply. Beautiful soft wool. It is fun to knit tiny things again. I love your knitting smartgirl. Osh Kosh garments are lovely. We got quite a bit last year for M R. My next grandchild will be a winter baby. I am planning my future knitting for baby and loving it.

MIL died peacefully in her sleep early hours of this morning. I am so pleased she is out of pain at last.
I don't know how you can knit 2ply, it look like sewing cotton it's that thin. It must take forever to knit even the smallest items.

grizzly4 - 2008-09-26 09:17:00
1274

Grizzly, I knew before I checked this that she had gone. I am so releived for her and for your family. No one likes to see their loved ones suffering. Take care of yourself. I could not knit 2 ply for love or money makereal. How are you today. Did you go for your tests. Fabulous day here today.

smartgirl - 2008-09-26 09:39:00
1275

Hi girls She certainly lived a long life grizzly but you will all miss her. Lots of love and hugs to you all. I am indeed a tiger for punishmet with this 2 ply but I am getting there. Had my tests. Results next week smartgirl. Just got a new car now have to sell the old mate. Sigh. It has been a darn good car. Spent 700 on a new cambelt, flushing out the auto tranmission and a warrant last week.

makerealbany - 2008-09-26 12:18:00
1276

What is your new car? I have a wee Toyota Vitz. Had it 2 years and love it to bits. Only 1000cc motor so easy on the petrol which is a bonus. Has lots of room for grandchildren inside.

grizzly4 - 2008-09-26 19:16:00
1277

Honda Integra I bought it off my daughter as I know it has been serviced , etc. I have driven it often. Cheap to run just like my Mazda Famillia. Less milage than mine. Daughter purchased a station Waggon for the new family. ha ha. Babies prams and things take up a lot of room.

makerealbany - 2008-09-27 21:26:00
1278

Just had a Birthday tea with no 1 son After we had been out shopping to buy him new clothes and shoes as pressies. He was exhausted but happy by the time we got home. My kitchen bench goes into the cottage tomorrow. Progress is being made rapidly now. I am still at my son's. Will drive home soon. Went to spotlight and only bought 5 balls of wool. I must be slipping. Ha ha. Got heaps of pairs of flannelette sheets for chrissy presents though. They are quite expensive normally. Daughter got material for bubs and we spent $200 and only paid $120 as we used 2 $40 vouchers. That was excellent.

makerealbany - 2008-09-27 21:34:00
1279

King size and queen size sheets Were $15 a pair and king single was $10 a pair and $8 a pair for single. Then we had the discount taken off. I purchased the same brand at the beg of winter for $60 for the Queen size. Makes you think!. I really needed another pair then so had to pay it. I have to be snug in winter even in bed ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-09-27 21:39:00
1280

Had to visit spotlight again today Preggie daughter needed more winter sheets and my other daughter got me a nice wooden slat blind for the kitchen window in the cottage for $10. The blind was reduced from $130 so we came home very pleased with ourselves. Spent $100 and it cost us $60. Plumber did the pipes for kitchen sink so I have running water in the kitchen at last. Hurrah.

makerealbany - 2008-09-28 20:58:00
1281

makereal you have been busy I did the spotlight thing and spent $60 for $100 on wool and then did the same on other craft things. Great way to get you to spend your money. You wont know your self when your cottage is fully up and running.

smartgirl - 2008-09-29 08:11:00
1282

Just thinking of you grizzly How are you all coping. Even though it is a blessing it is still sad to lose someone close to you all.

smartgirl - 2008-09-29 08:13:00
1283

Had no water in cottage last night Just a little hiccup ha ha. Fixed today plumber forgot to throw a switch in pump house. It was so dark when I got home I thought I would leave it til the morning. I always have a jug full and cold water in the fridge. Good spending smartgirl. My daughter was delighted with her sheets. So were my grandkids.

makerealbany - 2008-09-29 17:21:00
1284

Also thinking about you and your family grizzly Going down to see Mum this weekend. She is getting fragile but still very active. She had a fall yesterday and told me" It was that blasted stray cat I am feeding" He got under her legs and she twisted the hand she was holding her walking stick in. She calls him Gingerboy. He has been a "stray" for a year now. Lol.

makerealbany - 2008-09-29 17:26:00
1285

Thanks for thinking of us Funeral was yesterday and all went well. Ashes will be ready this afternoon to lay Dad who passed last year. Looking forward to things being back to normal around here although I thing there are a few dramas to come. I have that darn cough back. Never heard anything from the chest xrays so have no idea what's going on. Have to go see the Dr again I guess.Sure sounds great spending all that money on wool, what are you goiung to knit first?

grizzly4 - 2008-09-30 08:27:00
1286

I always ring and ask about the results of tests You have had that darn cough for too long. Yes after family funerals there always seems to be some drama about things. Don't understand why just human nature I think. Having a break from the 2ply singlets and knitting blankets on large needles. Ha ha. I thought I would knit 2 blankets then get back to the fine knitting. My hands got so sore. Came back from daughters with some knitting to be sewn up. She starts back at work tomorrow and what with being preggie and two teenagers she will be busy. She is a good knitter but hates to sew up. Lol. Yes what are you going to knit smartgirl?

makerealbany - 2008-09-30 17:32:00
1287

Windy day today Great for the washing. Granddaughter just flooded the Laundry, so another lot of towels. Sigh. These things are really sent to try us and they do. Ha ha. School holidays are such fun. I am trying to find some reasonable scrapbooking books. They vary a great deal in price. My daughter gave me a pile of baby photos and an album so I have to experiment. Got some stuff for it at spotlight in the sale.

makerealbany - 2008-10-01 14:19:00
1288

Tried to get a client involved in scrapbooking at one point. She found it too hard to make choices between which photo, which theme, which everything. Started giving me nightmares in the end. Maybe you can give us some tips once you get started, makerealbany, not that I have clients anymore, though.
Went back to the Dr yesterday and was very assertive. Feel like I am more in control now. Apparently nothing showed in the x-rays so looks like my asthma is being triggered big time by an allergy. We acknowledged that it is the time of year for pollens etc but this has been regular for a year now. Concluded it is my cats!!!!! My answer? Give me drugs because the cats are staying. I'm now on another course of prednisone for 10 days and an antihistamine permanently. And I've told the 'girls' they have to keep their hair on as much as possible. Haha!

grizzly4 - 2008-10-02 08:22:00
1289

Oh grizzly thats dreadful Did you just develop an allergy in the past year?. That is strange maybe they are blaming the cats for nothing. The cat hair may aggravate your symptoms but it could be something else. Come to think of it no 3 son has always been allergic to animals but he has always had animals and would not give up his cats for anything. He sneezes a lot. Yes I know what you mean about the scrapbooking. I already have a box of stuff besides photos!!!! I just want to do a simple album. Lol. Well off to Rotorua tomorrow to see Mum and my sick sis. Have a good weekend girls

Hi girls Came up to Orewa last night. There was an accident on our road so I had to go around the back way( Which I have never been before. Country roads no street lights, pitch black with my cell phone close by. It was scarey but I found my way back to the main road. I bet there were cars turning off on all the wrong roads. I was following a car but they turned off a side road and then turned around again. It was like the blind leading the blind. Ha ha Apparently the people involved only suffered minor injuries but what with the firetrucks and the Powerline trucks they had managed to take out the powerlines which were across the road. Lookes a lot worse than it was so the hansome young Police Officer told me. That boy was a real dream. Ha ha

makerealbany - 2008-10-03 07:19:00
1291

Could not sleep either So was on TM early hours of this morning buying cotton for the summer knitting. Sold my car to the first person who saw it. Well my SIL did. Had loads of offers but sold it for full price so quite rich at the mo. Lol. Won't last if I stay on TM. No 1 son is coming with me for the weekend so I have a buddy for the drive. He is going to stay with my sick Sis and her hubby so they are looking forward to his visit. I will pick up my 5 yr old grandson on Sunday to bring him back for a week. So off I go again.

makerealbany - 2008-10-03 07:25:00
1292

Don't you just love the school holidays, NOT! I think most mums just take them to the mall!! So boring for the kids.WE've had 32 kids on the programme at work this week. They did stone carving, baked gingerbread men, went to the movies, played 'It's in the Bag' and made wooden picture frames over 2 days. Not bad, eh for $10 per day. We've got baby B on Saturdays from now on as S went back to work this week and once he leaves at 4 15 month L comes to stay over night. I always used to visit MIL when I had L for the day. Sad that I can't do that with wee B.

grizzly4 - 2008-10-03 09:23:00
1293

Yes this rain has been hard Kids managed to get a little bush walk in before it pelted down again. That Programme you have is fab for the money grizzly. I have been baking and it is scoffed as soon as it is out of the oven. Ha ha. Yes when I have Miss 9 months I am limited in what I can do as well. She is a regular little bundle of fun and energy. She thinks her 5 year old cousin is her toy. Cannot keep her little eyes and hands off of him. It is cute really. I have to drive to Hamilton on Thursday night to take Master 5 home to his Mum. Friday is my day off from everything this week. Yay.

makerealbany - 2008-10-07 18:50:00
1294

Got my woolwinder on TM Thank goodness this handwinding of balls that tangle has been taxing. Knitting is relaxing winding wool is not. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-10-07 18:53:00
1295

Got a great knitting cotton pattern book From a book sale in Rotorua and I have just bought a lot of cotton on TM for the grandkids this summer. I see that you have a few garments in the cotton as well smartgirl. Really inexpensive too. You must have knitted those for love smartgirl. How is the back? Test results are back and the doc wants to see me. I will leave that visit until Friday.

Still waiting for the drugs to kick in.... now hubby has a bad dose of the 'flu and I am dreading getting it. Having a week off work next week and travelling up to Blenheim to see my parents. Been a couple of years since I've seen them and they are restricted in their travelling because of their health.

grizzly4 - 2008-10-09 08:25:00
1297

Enjoy your week in Blenheim grizzly It will be lovely to see your parents. Hope hubby does not give you that flu. I got results of tests today so it is off to the Lab again next Monday. Oh well I must admit I have been feeling lousy but as they rule out somethings and hem and ha about others you have to laugh. I feel like a ruddy pin cushion. Saw my sick friend in Hamilton when I shot down to take Master 5 home. She told me she had just thrown out a whole lot of drugs(prescribed of course) and was having a break from medication. We had a good laugh. She periodically does this. Psychologically she appeared more relaxed than I have seen her in awhile which is good. Daughter gave me a modern cellphone and it needs a license to operate it. I prefer my old plain phone but she says to give it a chance. I could not even ring with it although I can text now. Yay.

makerealbany - 2008-10-10 19:22:00
1298

Managed to finish another baby blanket for my expectant daughter. J her youngest is 13 so she has to start from scratch for this baby. It is her second marriage. Have been shopping around at the sales and on TM ETC. Need to get back to the singlets. Now that I have a wool winder it will be easier. Lounge and kitchen nearly finished in the cottage which is very exciting. Hope you girls are having a good weekend.

makerealbany - 2008-10-11 22:17:00

Cottage is finally fully painted inside Yay. Tiles are being laid in the kitchenette, the kitchen bench is in and things are looking good. I was finally able to move the fridge out of the bathroom today. Cannot wait to start unpacking but have to wait until carpet is down before I can really have an unpacking frenzy.
