I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
12851

yes, popeye, it should be fine. My Ingrid Bergman was moved in the middle of the day during the January and it survived. Make sure your pot is big so the rose has plenty of room to grow. Fill it with good quality compost and put some sheep pellets as well as a good fistful of rose fertilizer in the soil. Dampen the soil a little so the potting mix doesn't go everywhere (safer!). The cut your rose back to maybe two or three buds on each cane, dig out and replant. Make sure you get rid of any weeds growing around the roots. Give it a good drink and keep watering it. It won't take long to recover. If you have aphids give it a spray with garlic infused water or soapy water but trimming it back should get rid of the aphids if you have any anyway. Keep your pot in a warm sunny spot and enjoy!

Thanks Kiwimade
I will follow your instructions.. especially the one about making sure I get rid of any weeds. The kaikuyu grass is choaking the plants Im sure so it will be very naked when it goes in the pot. Its a good size pot with plenty of room.
I will get to it on the weekend, hopefully i have some helpers to get this front garden under control..

Havent seen any aphids here, which I consider is a handy thing

Id much rather grow veges out there even if people pinched it lol..

Hi All. I am looking to purchase the "Easy Knit for Kids" Knitting Pattern Book which I have been unable to find on any website. If you have a copy you might like to part with (and is in good condition), please let me know would be really keen to take this off your hands! Have a great day.

morning ladies :) Hopefully someone can help you gaj and welcome to the thread.

Another overcast day, would be nice if the sun would stay longer than half a day.

I've crocheted another square using my stash, didn't get to Spotlight yesterday as I called in to see Dad and my day was pretty much done and dusted. I'll just keep picking away at my stash for now I think.

Happy knitting :)

Type in 'Easy Knit for Kids" in Ravelry and the patterns and the cover of the book you are wanting to buy is shown on the page. It is out of print. Hope that helps.

Morning everyone
I have an incling I may have that gaj, I will look shortly

Overcast here too Kiwimade.

Have done over 4 rows worth of squares now. And with the heat coming its the simplest way to keep working.

I ordered some yellow and grey for Batman yesterday $1-45 per 100 gram ball. Have the black so that will be my project after this one is done. Hoping to have it finished by the new owners birthday at the end of Jan.

Thats me for wool tho. I really have plenty to chose from. Im hoping the batman will sell easily.

Shopping this morning. MrP will stay home cos Missy has been struggling with separation anxiety so she has had me home all week. But she knows today is shopping day even tho I havent mentioned it. Cant hide the fact that Im going out, since I have to get the car out of the garage.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) And we have another wet day, am so over it. But MrK is happy as he planted tomatoes, cabbages and new scarlet runner beans yesterday and finished emptying the compost bin. I wasn't quick enough to nab the compost for the flower garden lol, never mind, there is plenty in the other bin.

Sometimes a change in needle size can make all the difference sunflowers. Exciting you will have a new addition very soon :)

I'm still pottering about with these squares, will see how I go with them.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Yes wet and quite warm here this morning. After a couple of jobs I have this morning I might nip out and plant the tomatoes we got last week.

Have 2 squares to go and then Ive done 5 rows.. Its going quite quickly. Only using two colours makes such a difference time wise.

Ive decided to pay someone to weed the front garden, I just struggle too much with the reach and the lack of strength to pull the long kaikuyu out. So my sale yesterday will help.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Another day where it is just pouring down with rain. Good for crafting, pity I have nothing serious on the hook or needles!

Good idea to pay someone to weed for you popeye, then it's just a matter of keep up with the weeds. Make sure they get the roots and not just pull the tops off the weeds.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Have had rain overnight, but nothing at the mo.

And yep I agree Kiwimade, my days plan is to crochet. I had a lazy day yesterday and only did one square. Ill make up for it tho.

Yeah Im just really over the front garden. we should have gone with the rocks and palms likenthe one is next door. Will get the boys in again they do an awesome job, and they will get the grass out of the lemon tree too.

Have a fab day everyone..

Morning ladies, I wish I could afford to pay someone to do my garden, the only thing I seem to do these days is the scrappy bits of lawn and the veg garden (it's not very big) and the rest just gets left to look after itself. There is a lot of native bush around me and not much garden, so I don't worry too much about it. I would love a nice easy flat section (like I had at Russell) but it was very prone to flooding which wasn't so good.

Flatmate still seems to be working out okay. His girlfriend stayed over again last night, I'll have to see how often this happens, and might have to up his rent a bit, especially now he's working. But she never comes empty-handed and always pitches in and helps so I can't really complain.

I'll find him a couple of jobs to do tomorrow and see how we go with that.

I have a sore throat this morning and feeling a bit miserable, so I think I'll just have a lazy morning. I'm supposed to be playing mah jong at the club this afternoon, but if my throat is still sore I might have to flag that. Don't want my friends to get it if it's catching.

I have been really lazy and not done any knitting or crochet for a few days, but last night I picked up the hook and started the flowers for the flower puzzle ball I decided to do. Had a call from the organiser of the market to say I can do both Saturday and Sunday next weekend, originally I was on standby for the Saturday so I need to get a few more things made this week.

Not raining here, but it wouldn't surprise me, it's very grey looking and I can see it's raining further up the harbour.

Have a super day everyone.

Afternoon
Just been watering the garden - would be nice to get a bit of rain overnight but lovely days at the moment.

Hope your throat is better quickly Kuaka. Good idea getting help with the garden Popeye. The lass from next door has a lawn mowing business so I’ve started getting her to mow my little bit of lawn. Felt a bit guilty at first as it’s really not a big lawn but nice being able to just potter in the garden and not have to do the lawns first.
It’s still all go with the big kitty litter order not helped that a couple of the machines decided to misbehave today. Think they are ok again now.

Vodafone sent me a new modem, supposedly just plug in all good but the great list of characters labelled “password” wouldnt work. Frustrating not being able to go on-line the next day I noticed another line of letters, labelled something totally different tried them and wow I’m back to the Internet world again!

Found more sock wool I’d forgotten I had so still going with socks but not very fast after busy days.

Morning everyone
Glad the book arrived Gaj, Happy knitting.

The reason I have put off so long in getting someone to do the gardens was cos I usaed to have a lawn mowing round, with a bit of garden.. I used to do 52 lawns a fortnight lol.. Now I simply dont like doing any of it.

Did 6 squares I think it was yesterday.. so Im getting them done fairly quickly. It might even be ready for christmas rather than his birthday. But Im not pushing myself its got the love crochet into it, rather than a job.

Have to pop up the road this morning, didnt want to but I actually have to get the car out to get into my pantry as well lol.

A mixed sky this morning.. so will be interesting to see what we get.. Its warm tho.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, I ended up going to the club to play mah jong yesterday afternoon and when I came home flatmate was making home made lasagne. Boy was it good. I made a salad to go with it. His girlfriend had tea with us and stayed the night again but there is heaps of lasagne left for tonight and possibly even tomorrow too, so I'm not complaining.

My throat doesn't feel so bad this morning, but I woke at 4.30 as I was too hot, and it took me a couple of hours to get back to sleep, we had heavy rain which kept me awake, so of course, I'm not feeling very energetic this morning. I wanted to mow the lawns and go for a walk but my friend has cancelled the walk as she has a sore throat too. Think we picked up some bugs at the Fashion Show the other night. It was outdoors and was very cold and windy which wouldn't have helped.

I had better have some breakfast and then see what I can achieve today. I sat in the chair after tea last night, crocheted half of one flower for my flower ball, and when I woke up it was 11.30.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning Ladies. Just came in from planting Herbs,Tomatoes and potted up 3 planters with flower plants that didn't get in the ground last night.Yes I went on plant shopping trip yesterday with a friend. Over last few weeks I have been cleaning up the ground for planting.
Still have some large pots to top up as well.
On the craft front knitting the blanket in between times.

Need to do some housework around the place sometime. Mr S folded the washing for me last night. (in alot of pain just now) It was good to have his company while I knitted.
Have some Book Art to finish off as well. That if I would like to have some on display later in the month at our local gallery.

Hope you are feeling better Kuaku. Sounds like you are enjoying the company of your flatmate and friend.

Morning ladies, I'm up early today as I'm going to Whangarei to spend the day with a friend, who is planning on moving to Tauranga in the New Year, and that will make it more difficult for me to visit her. Although if my flatmate is still here in a few months time, he suggested that I visit my friend in Hamilton for a few days and then go over to Tauranga for a few days and then it's not such a long tiring trip. Well I suppose it is, just wouldn't seem quite so bad.

Looks like the weather is pretty rubbish, I've just phoned my friend and she said "it's horrible" but as we're only going shopping and sitting at her place chatting it won't make much difference. Her husband has Alzheimers and goes into day care twice a week, and today is one of his days in care, so we can spend some time together without him.

So I had better get cracking.

Have a super day everyone.

If you are heading to Tauranga from Hamilton Kuaka, you will pass right by our front door so call in!

It is bucketing down today and we have plans to go to Tauranga. Lunch with MrK's sister and brother-in-law who is doing amazingly well after breaking his pelvis.

Good day for crafting :)

Morning
Just seen Niece’s photos from Queenstown - snow, They had a heat wave last week!
Had a few drops of rain and windy here nothing very exciting or interesting.
How exciting Lindyloue actually winning something.

Still busy, haven’t picked up knitting for 2 day’s so unusual for me.
Did get to aquarobics last evening - it helps keep my joints from seizing up and sure sleep well afterwards.
Have to take sister to Hastings to get her cataracts done today so better get moving.

Morning early birds... Take care on the roads everyone.

Has rained a fair bit through the night. MrP is still in bed, he didnt sleep well last night.
I really wish the wind would change direction. Its very hard to have the front and biggest windows open with the strong winds. So Im sitting here with the fan on. I do have the dining room window open to change the air but thats on the back wall so nothing of it hits where I sit.

Ive sewn the ends in on the 6 rows now. So back to crochet today.

Yes kiwimade there is always something for him to do and he is enjoying retirement once all the house is finished he will be back into his model railway layout in hibernation in the garage. I have my knitting group tonight so will sort out what I'm going to take will most likely be more squares for my blanket we were all given 24 crochet blocks to make into a blanket by the end of the year better get a move on I've only done eight so far.

I'm home safely. Managed to get stuck behind a slow car towing a trailer just north of Whangarei and was almost at Kawakawa before I could pass him. Called in to see a friend in Kawakawa (didn't even go in) just picked up a cat scratching post for puss, got back on the main road, and I was behind the wretched slow car with the trailer again! Groan.

morning ladies :) lol kuaka, that happened to us too. Stopped to look at McLaren Falls on the way home yesterday and got stuck behind the same bus we had passed earlier.

It's going to be a beautiful day today... crazy weather! So I'll be outside deheading the roses and spraying with my garlic water for aphids and picking off any blackspotted leaves. My 'girls' can be a tad high maintenance at times but so worth it when I can pick five vases of roses in one hit! MrK kindly pointed out to me I have a blank space on the fence that I might want to fill. I already had a rose in mind for that spot lol.

I'll do a bit more knitting later, but want to make the most of a rare fine day.

Happy knitting :)

Nice here too not hot either.

Shopping this morning, and put my book of prescriptions in lol. Will drop that off first and pick it up last. It will take them a while to make up.

Lawns will be done this morning. It feels like a very long fortnight and the grass is rather long too.

Got 7 squares done yesterday so whizzing through them. Id like to have it done to send down for christmas now lol.

Enjoy the lovely day everyone

Morning
Another lovely day.
Our big order is finished - what a relief so having a “catch up” morning at home today Have an appointment this pm so not a full at home day.

Hopefully plumber will come and fix hot water thermostat today the tank and pipes were making a terrible noise and it was boiling over so I had to turn it off. Apparently since they have added chlorine to the water about 3 months ago quite a lot of hot water cylinders have had problems.

Rather slow on the knitting at moment - I can read or watch tv and knit but haven’t worked out how to knit and doze at the same time lol.
Enjoy your day Everyone.

jayemtoo - 2017-11-10 06:53:00

morning ladies :) When you work that one out jayemtoo, let us know lol. Could be a useful trick!

Another coolish morning here so I'm back outside. Tomorrow I'm going with my sister to the garden nursery where she bought her roses to ask for her money back. To me, they look like they have been pruned with dirty secateurs (not by me!) and have so much die back I suspect she will loose one, if not two, of the roses. And while I am there, I'll take cuttings from a rose Dad has planted and I have drooled over for a while now.

I haven't done any knitting, have been too busy with other things around the house and our trip to Tauranga.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Ive been known to knit with my eyes closed at times. Not asleep but if its plain knitting Id rest my eyes and carry on lol.

Windy as here.. And I have to go back up the street. I got my meds yesterday and asked them to make up MrP's repeats and they didnt, so they are doing them now. I had getting to only a few days insulin in the fridge.
Im going to go to Mitre10 and get some potting mix and butter bean seeds. And I might look at the seedlings to see if anything else grabs my interest.

No crochet yesterday, and I doubt there will be much today, maybe tonight tho.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2017-11-10 09:49:00
12891

Morning ladies, I had a lazy morning yesterday but I did mow one of the lawns in the afternoon, should do another one this morning but doubt if I will - it's such a pain having to try to hold the button in and the handle together, so I'm sort of steering with both hands on the right hand side of the handle. Not easy. Might see if I can start the weedeater and use that on the scrappy bit down the side of the driveway.

I do plan to weed round the base of the plum trees and apple trees. That always tidies the look of that part of the garden. I should be stacking some firewood before the next lot of rain, but doubt I'll have the energy or motivation today.

I have done all the flowers (finally) for the flower puzzle ball, just have to crochet them to the wedges now. Might do that later, then again, I might not. I also want to cast on another mobious cowl so that I have something easy to do at the market tomorrow. Or I might start another Elijah the Elephant. I quite enjoyed doing the last two.

Meantime, I suppose I had better do something useful. Have a super day everyone.

Nothing seems exciting enough to be doing lol..

12893

morning ladies :) I'm off to visit my sister today and we are going to try and get her money back on the roses she bought. They are dying and I suspect they were pruned at the nursery using dirty/diseased secateurs. Eight roses at $90 each is a lot of money to lose. I don't mind spending money on roses as they live forever but $90 is beyond my price range.

I spent a lovely day out in the garden shuffling things around. It looks like we are loosing a tree. MrK is gutted as he loves it, I'm trying not to grin like a Cheshire cat as I just hate it. I am thinking it could be an age thing for this tree as I can't see any disease and we don't know how old it is.

Still no knitting, was pretty tired last evening. And I'm feeling uninspired at the moment too.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Well the plumber changed the thermostat and before I could even shower the tank was overflowing and the pipes making horrible noises again. Turned off the heater but had a lovely long hot shower before it could go cold again. The pipes groaned and moaned all night had to end up leaving a tap slowly running, I put a cloth over it so couldn’t hear the water and it is a rusty brown colour this am pipes must be full of sediment I have run them at full on for a while, now all quiet and cylinder turned on again - see how it goes this time otherwise another plumber visit on Monday. The plumber said they are very busy sorting out problems due to the chlorine added to the water and poor state of the old pipes. Wonder if I can get the plumber’s costs off my rates!!
Think I will join you Kuaka and have a “might do” day, I really should go to town and get a few things I’ve been putting off while so busy with the litter but think a quiet potter in the garden day might win.

Happy crafting All

Morning everyone
Jayemtoo did the plumber check the ajax valve while he was there. Normally water going over the top means the ajax valve isnt working as good as it should either.

Was hoping to get in the garden today, I got the potting mix and a new hoe etc. And my sista carried it around the back for me.. But Im having a craky Might do nothing day too.. I will run washing thorugh the machine and dryer tho.
So Ill be sitting and crocheting.. I need to dig into the wardrobe in the craft room to find Christmas cards, but thats definetely something that wont happen today lol.

Afternoon ladies, a very quiet day at the market (I managed to sell one scarf but that was all) hoping for a busier day tomorrow as there is a cruise ship in. Because nobody is using the hall tonight we just lock the door and leave everything set up so not quite such an early start tomorrow.

I finished my flower puzzle ball, and have started an Elijah the Elephant, because I forgot to cast on for the mobious cowl - I must do that tonight.

It was a funny sort of day, cold all morning and hot all afternoon, and blowing a gale, but we didn't get the rain we were expecting.

I wonder what tomorrow brings.

Enjoy what's left of the day.

Morning everyone

I hope the Market is better for you today Kuaka.

Town had our Fireworks event last night. We watched from our lounge windows. Missy hid. And then our road was packed with cars both ways for an hour until they all moved. Alot even switched off instead of wasting petrol. Never seen the roads around our place soo busy. Then yoou get idiots who tried to jump the cue and drover along the footpaths and verges.

We are going to get some of the compost and potting mix into the bins today. It will last as long as MrP's frustrations with his body which will turn into temper. At least once they are done I can finally plant them up.

Have done over 7 rows now. So feeling pleased with that. And I got the two cushions into a $9 posty bag yesterday so they can go next time Im up the road.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) I saw on the news my old school, Sacred Heart, in Hamilton lost two classrooms to fireworks. Our daughter went there too. Such a waste and devastating so close to the girls' exams next week.

MrK is pruning a maple tree, it's growing a tad close to the power lines so he's pruning now before we need to get experts in and while it is safe to do so. I've just made a cuppa so will do some more weeding and help him after we have had that.

The wind is pretty cold, almost feels like there is snow down the line. Crazy weather, we still have the heat pump going some nights.

I'm hoping to get cranked up with the knitting next week, starting with our granddaughter's ballet cardy. I also need to find a sewing pattern for a tutu, shouldn't be hard to find. Our nieghbour teaches dance (only found this out the other day) so she has told me what is 'required' for dance classes and by the sounds of it, our grandie will be a tad overdressed lol. Never mind, she won't care and will love it.

happy knitting :)

Good morning all grey old day here and the wind is freezing - no dog park today for sure
I finally finished the second blanket for my granddaughter and she loved it - was so different to the one she chose -I told her it was what her grandad wanted me to make but I think she loved it anyway- dolly has now returned to the top of the pile
Have a house guest at the moment - my nephew one of the nicest gentlest men I know is going through a very messy marriage seoeration - it is so hard finding the right thing to say as I can’t get my head around it at all -find myself babbling on about nonsense - but I tell myself he can go upstairs and get away from me
My tomato plants are still sitting in their pots but they are probably better sheltered under the eaves rather than battling this cold wind
A house across the way has let fireworks off every night since guy fawkes night - lucky Ash takes no notice at all but there is a dog over the back that lives on a chain that goes beserk the poor thing
Thought of you kiwimade as I listened to the news last night about the teacher shortage -
Well coffee machine is beeping and I read online it’s supposedly good for gout so better have cup number 2
