Morning everyone
A little bit cloudy today, we may get the rain we are meant to have later.

Had a good day yesterday. Jam made, went up to the bottle drive, which was very well supported. They got over 2700 bottles in two hours.

Then visited my friend who moved last weekend. Its a neat little two story flat but its sort of higgildy piggidly. And I like that. I did venture upstairs but coming down was scary, they are step stairs.. I havent been up stairs for years, not many places here that have them lol.
She gave me a heap of tupperware that she was going to give to the oppy, so Ill spend a bit of time taking the marker pen lables she has written in, off this morning.
Found the next to last part of a sistas birthday pressie while I was out. One part to go.

I plan to crochet later.. after a few jobs this morning.

Morning all -chilly day here as well - rain tomorrow is promised
Popeye the Tupperware was a nice gift I left mine behind in Bathurst - didn't realise it was so expensive now -
Nearly up to where I was before my disaster on Aimee's blanket thank goodness
Dwarf fruit trees are perfect for small sections - I have a small edible garden attached to my fence - Philip made it out of pallets because we only have a small area that is suitable to grow things and having a dog cuts it down even further - but if is amazing what can be grown in such a small space
Not sure what I might do today - I can hear the sea and it sounds rough so might head up with my crochet to the beach - love it when it is rough

afternoon ladies :) am a tad late today but just seem to be busier than usual this morning.

Gerry, MrK has espaliered an apple tree, two plums and plans to espalier three feijoas. We have a fig growing in a pot too and this seems to work for us with a smaller section. Our vegies grow in small raised gardens. It all fits in beautifully and we still have our home grown fruit and vegies.

I have finished the doily and have even sewn in the ends. Now to block it and put it on the table. I'll take a pic when it is all done. I saw some stunning thread at the Bernina shop, could be used for crochet or embroidery. Very expensive though but for something special would be lovely.

While at the shopping mall we had a quick browse in K Mart and I found a lovely thick yoga mat so my 'old' one can now just be used for blocking.

Morning ladies, I have had a busy couple of days, Saturday I had a stall at the market and only managed to sell two items, but some people sold nothing, it was very very quiet, then packed up a bit early and went to a get together at the op shop at 3pm for drinks, eats and an introduction to our new shop - my friend and I will be the first ones working in the new premises as it opens at 10 and they are having a sale, all clothing and shoes $1 an item, all childrens clothing and shoes 50c an item. I daresay we could be busy.

Then in the evening I had a taxi booked to take me and the neighbours to the Thai restaurant in town to celebrate my birthday. One of the neighbours came and got me and we had pre-dinner wine at her place, then to the restaurant, then back to her place where we had more wine and danced till midnight, then I came home. They were naughty because I had said "no presents" but they gave me wine, chocolates, a beautiful wine bottle stopper, and a lovely bunch of red roses, so I was very spoilt and felt very "secondhand" yesterday. So yesterday I did nothing apart from start knitting a tea cosy.

Have to get myself into action soon, as I am working this morning.

We had another thunderstorm forecast for during the night, but if it happened I slept right through it.

Morning everyone
Had an awesome day yesterday. I had a few jobs I wanted to get done, and I did. Love it when I make a plan and get it done.
Even did 2 and a bit rounds last night on the blanket.

Have to go and do my INR this morning as it was high on Friday.
I cant beleive how good I am feeling now.. I must have been low on iron etc for a long time and just didnt know it. I feel my age now and not an old lady.

Have to get the sander to MrPs feet when I get back then Im going back into the plastic cupboard and try and get this tupperware into it.

OMG have you seen the amounts of wool ladies brought at KAN? they must have saved all year I reckon lol.. Some beautiful yarns tho.

Good to hear you are feeling so much better popeye, sometimes we just don't realise these things as it is so gradual.

I've blocked the doily thing I finished the other day so it's sitting under the heat pump drying. Not that it is cold, just damp with all the rain.

The neighbour's kids have lambs and we hear them bleating for food... a much better sound than the Fluffy One's bark lol. Although I'm sure the Furry One thinks they are a free meal for him. He is definitely not a 'stock dog'.

Looks like the storm has passed so I'll go out and check on the garden.

Morning ladies. white out this morning when I got up at just before seven Can now see the houses across the road.Sun just coming out. Do hope it will clear as I need to get out into the garden sometime today.Was given some veggie plants that need planting out over the weekend.

Busy weekend,out both days. Sunday a group of us from our Knit and Natter group headed off to KAN wool sale followed by lunch. Sunday morning is open to the public. Yes I purchased a shawl pattern and wool. Not a big buy up this year for me.

Yes, Popeye,they do save from one year to the next. You can only buy from some of the sellers at KAN,others sell online also.
Gerry,hope your leg is healing and you can get around.
It's sound like you had a lovely Birthday kuaka with some great friends.

Off to K and N this morning and we having a show and tell of our wool we got over the weekend.

Morning everyone

Just started raining here, its very dark.. Was foggy at 11pm last night.
Typical tho cos the power guys are tending to the old streetlights that havent worked since they did the new ones.

Was planning on cutting MrP's hair but I feel a bit ick in the tummy. Ill see how I go after breakfast.

Otherwise I think it will be a day on the crochet. Ive roughly worked out how much yarn I need to get an extra dark round on, can only cross my fingers..

Morning ladies, I woke really early, don't know what time, but it was ages before I finally looked at the clock to find it was only 5am, so then I tried to sleep some more and couldn't, got up at 7 to find thick fog, and sent a msg to the neighbour that I was going back to bed, (as we had planned on going for a walk at 7.30) she messaged back, she was going to do the same. Now of course it's brilliant sunshine, but it's too late for her to walk as she works from home. Maybe we can go at 5 tonight when she finishes.

Clean sheets on the bed this morning, wash them and then do some gardening I think, then mah jong this afternoon. My off-sider had said she would be back today but just phoned to say she hadn't slept all night and didn't think she could function so is staying home.

What is it with so many women who have trouble sleeping?

I suppose if I am going to achieve anything today I had better get moving.

Was quite busy at the op shop yesterday, a queue of people waiting when we arrived to open up, and a pile of donations left outside the shop. At least the time goes quickly when you're busy.

I am determined to go to Kans next year Sunflower - still going everyday to get my leg dressed - even though it is covered by ACC the surcharges are mounting up
I put these photos up yesterday on facebook of my Mums WIP crochet tin - she has given them to me to finish and keeps nagging about me doing so -it is way our of my league I think - have had some really good suggestions - I have done quite a lot of applique so might wander down that path -

Yes Kuaka I wonder that too about sleeping - sometimes it comes in handy though - one of my cousins who lost her husband recently is over in Bali on her first holiday without her husband - she is with a group of friends all couples and is finding that difficult so at 1.30 last night she decided to give me a call - I was awake but as my son is in Shanghai my heart skipped a beat -

morning ladies :) I have the odd restless night too and I think it has something to do with menopause. Will do some research on it. But since starting Yoga, I sleep much better.

Today I need to mow the lawn, weather permitting and have a few things to do in town. The electrician phoned to tell us the parts to MrK's electrical sander have arrived so I'll have to pay for that. Then Yin Yoga this evening, that's where you hold the poses for three or four minutes. Will see how I cope this week and I must remember to strap my ankle. I really paid for not doing that last week.

Gerry, I love the suggestions made on FB for your Mum's work, pity I'm lefthanded or I could help you with it. Applique sounds a really nice option. You could find some nice fabric, applique on it and then have the pieces framed.

Morning everyone

Raining here, good constant rain too.. Cold outside but nice in.

Got everything done yesterday that I wanted to.. This morning I have washing on and will be shortening some trackies for MrP. He doesnt like the elastic on the bottom, he keeps catching his toes in them when putting them on.
Got alot of crochet done yesterday. Have the last 3 colour block to go. Just not sure if Ill have enough of the mauve. so cross your fingers, Ill be playing yarn chicken.

Warm enough yesterday that I had my fan on.. But Im pretty sure it was cos I had Missy on my lap and the blanket bewteen her and my head lol.
Will need to give it a good clean for the summer too.

I like the idea of Applique and framing the work too Gerry and then sharing them as the family grows.

26th wedding anniversary today, it only seems like 5 minutes since I was sooo pleased with getting to our Silver one last year.

Morning ladies, it started off sunny here after heavy rain last night and again early this morning, but now it has clouded over. I was cold yesterday and lit the fire last night even though the thermometer on the wall said 22 deg - one of us wasn't quite right, anyway, I soon got too hot.

Slept well last night for a change, and I will need to tonight as I'm off to Whangarei tomorrow to shop and visit a dental specialist about a tooth which has a root canal filling and there isn't much tooth left, it's all filling. Dread to think what it's going to cost.

Knit and natter this morning, then if it's not raining I might do some gardening.

Started a shawl for myself - the pattern is called "spindrift" and it's very easy, just stocking stitch with a holey border and you increase on every row at both edges. Perfect for taking to knit and natter so I don't have to think. The sock yarn is pretty, mauve, turquoise, white and grey. Think it will look nice when finished (and if I don't like it, I will put it on the market stall).

Sunflower I wondered if anything like this would help your husband.....as a caregiver I have seen them used a great deal with success in preventing falls as it is often getting out of bed that the extra support is needed.

That's great news about baby Gerry, amazing what can be done today!

NIce to 'see' you sunnnysue, that gadget looks like a handy thing to have for anyone, old or young, who could fall out of bed. I was thinking of our young grandkids who have or soon will be transitioning from a cot to a bed.

I had my second Yin Yoga class last evening, this time with the instructor (last week we had a 'stand in' as she had a migraine) and it was soo much better. I felt more comfortable with the poses and the four minutes went by pretty quickly. I'm teaching myself to 'quieten my mind' so I'm not being distracted by all the external gym noises and it was much more enjoyable. And this morning I'm a tad stiff but nothing compared to last week. Over the weekend I bought a thicker Yoga mat from K Mart (on special too) and this also helped quite a bit. I think this will be a regular part of my week.

MrK has been drying some timber on the clothes airing rack under the heat pump for the book case over night and today we will work on that. Almost there, it's a slow process as he is painting the bits as he goes but we are almost at the stage where the shelves can go in. I hold the torch so he can see or move my day light about for him and hand him the screws and drill and hold bits of timber in place. I see this as a 'joint' project lol. Can't wait to get all our books out of the boxes and onto shelves.

I've started a cross stitch I began and put down of a waxeye sitting on our rosebush. The pattern is from a photo I took two years ago and love. Definitely need the day light for this, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Thank goodness it's on wheels so I can move it about easily.

Must find a knitting or crochet project to do.

Those gadgets are really helpful not only as a bit of a barrier but also helping someone to pull themselves up to sit in bed and support when getting in and out. Such a simple idea which works.

Dull old day lawns have just been mown so can get washing out. Then plant more of the "orchard". I'm putting off digging out the gooseberry just in case there is a bit of life in it but mainly because it is so very thorny. It was bad enough with the old rose bush the other day.

No doubt will fit inbit of knitting later.

Morning everyone.

So pleased the wee girl is doing well Gerry.

An appointment at the super clinic today for MrP.. One that we will be pleased to have over and done with. will explain more later.

You have reminded me Kiwimade that I kept saying I will do more colouring when I have my new glasses. So once I have finished this blanket I will get a book out. Getting good quality pens etc is the hard part. But I have a fairly big selection now.

Ive worked out i have enough of the dark purple, to be able to get a dark border, but I think its going to be close with the mauve. Pink I have no worries about. It takes an hour per round now. thats undisturbed too.

MrP is a hard case dude.. Sometimes I walk on eggshells.. If he is sore hes often grumpy, but Ive learnt very quickly to ignore it. But yesterday he was in a mushy very much loving mood.. This morning he said it was sad none of the daffodils have flowered, but we have a jonquil , its the first year we havent had at least one daffodil.

We're having lunch with three of MrK's sisters today, should be good fun.

Managed to finally mow the lawn yesterday and wow, it was only 10 days since I last mowed and have filled an empty wheelie bin and two catcher loads in the compost.

I am picking away at this cross stitch, the colours are pretty spot on for a waxeye.

Better hustle and prepare things for lunch, it's a shared lunch so we all bring something.

Morning everyone.
Yes Kiwimade time sure is flying.

Yesterdays appointment took hours, and of course we thought it would be short and sweet so I didnt take my crochet.
But the good news is, no sign of nasty cancer lumps in mrPs left breast. Its an age and hormone thing. So we are pleased with that. Didnt put it on FB . cos it would have caused family to worry before we actually knew anything.

A busy day ahead, I have to pop up and post a couple of parcels, get some more fish oil and a quick stop at the supermarket.
Then home to bottle a few pears we got yesterday and bake a couple of banana cakes, for my friend and her brother who is going to help us put the bean fence back up on Sunday.

So crochet will be my wind down later.

Waxeyes are such pretty little birds eh Kiwimade. We occassioanlly get them here. Our resident Thrush used the bird bath for the first time yesterday.

Morning ladies,

Great news about Mr P and the baby too gerry.

I had a reasonable trip to Whangarei, I noticed that the car handled better with the new tyres and on the way home when we had some torrential rain I was pleased the tyres are new.

I went first to the warehouse, then K Mart, Arthurs Emporium, the home brew shop (I'm going to start making spirits again) and then Spotty. I bought stuff at each place but not much in any of them,and then bought a savory scone and a coffee at the cafe next door to Spotty for my lunch and then off to the dentist.

The news isn't good. He said the tooth is not "saveable". (Not often the dentist admit defeat in that respect) He said there is infection in the tooth at the gumline, and it is starting to eat into the root canal filling itself which is breaking down, he said there is infection at the tip of the root which will soon develop into an abcess. There are 3 options. First I could have a one tooth denture, and he showed me one, which would be $950 but he didn't recommend. Second would be a bridge, where they make a one piece crown with three teeth on it, think he said that would be $2500, or I can have an implant which would be $6500. He said that is the better of the three options - not better for my bank account though. He said if I want the implant it would be $1500 to have the tooth removed as they have to do a bone graft which involves packing stuff into the socket, sewing it up and leaving it 6 months and the stuff they pack in is horrendously expensive. I'm not sure if that $6500 included the $1500 for the extraction or if that is extra.

What he did say was that he recommends that I have the tooth out and do nothing and see how I go, and if I can't manage without it he would put an implant in the lower jaw, so that it is underneath the one next to the one which is coming out. He said that will give me more "bite" than an implant in place of the one that is coming out. Just removing the tooth and not doing the bone graft, the extraction will only be $240 and I've made an appointment for two weeks time. Not looking forward to that. He said if I was his mum this is what he would recommend for her.

Just wondering if I will feel like driving home (an hours drive) after having the tooth out or if I should get a friend to drive me.

Called in to see a friend before leaving Whangarei, and another in Kawakawa on the way home.

I must do some gardening today, I bought some plants at the warehouse and I need to get them in, the lawns need mowing but it's far too wet. I have a market on Sunday (cruise ship in) so I need to get organised for that, and hopefully tomorrow morning the builder is coming to cut and fit the pantry shelves.

I can't believe it's September either, but it's nice that the evenings are getting lighter and the temperature is warming up. Can't wait for summer.

morning ladies :) Am so over all this rain, doesn't the sun know I want to sand down and paint a dressing table and I have to do that outside! My sister-in-law suggested I paint it with the 'distressed' look and I quite like that idea. Will research how to do it.

We were given some freshly caught fish last evening so fresh snapper for dinner tonight.

Housework first though and then I'll do some crafting. MrK will be working a bit more on the bookcase (so glad when that is done!) and no doubt he'll find a movie or something on Netflix this afternoon.

Dad comes home tonight from wintering in Brisbane and it will be good to see him home.

Morning everyone

Another wet day by the looks.. I love them, oops but yeah I understand your wanting to get the sanding done Kiwimade.
Your dad coming home right on time for Fathers day.

Today Im having a do nothing day, well other than some dishes and ice a couple of banana cakes I made yesterday. I had the worst preserving day Ive ever had. Kept dropping things and the bands wouldnt fit the jars etc etc.. But I did get 1 large and 2 small jars of pears for $4. Ive been dicing them, rather than having slices or halves. So you get more in each jar.

MrP is sleeping late again. He just seems to need more at the mo. so the house is quiet. I dont bother putting the tv on when hes not up.

Will get some blanket done..

Morning all dull old day here again - put a little bit of washing out so that no doubt will bring the rain - yesterday I went out to the park - it was very fine drizzle not cold and actually really quite enjoyed it - was pleased to see there were more lunatics out there - and my new shoes are fantastic on the slippery parts of the concrete path
Kuaka those prices for your dental work are horrendous my granddaughter had her braces removed yesterday after 5 years and $15000 but she now has a beautiful smile and her teeth were really bad so it's a job well done - mrGs teeth were the same so he had them all taken out when he was 17 no braces in those days -
Might have a do not very much day today I see they have uploaded another series of Happy Valley on Netflix hopefully it is a series I didn't see in Oz

morning ladies :) Lol popeye, yes, dad is home for Father's Day, the first time in years! Today I'll visit and see how he is, better buy a pressie on the way.

That is an awful lot of money Gerry but so worth it for a great smile. And will also be better for chewing too.

MrK needs more MDF for the bookcase so it has come to a bit of a standstill until he can pick it up tomorrow. He also wants to build a step so I can reach the top shelf as I've always had to climb on a chair to reach the top books. His 'to-do' list is growing and people seem to be asking him to do minor repairs on furniture and bits and pieces too.

I'm working still on the waxeye, makes a change from knitting needles and hooks. But I'm on the lookout for a crochet table runner patter I can crochet for the dressing table.

Nice that your father timed it well Kiwimade.
Rather expensive but At least dentists try and preserve teeth these days. A dentist wanted to pull out my front tooth when I was 17 even though it was causing me no problem I didn't go back to a dentist for over 20 yrs and still have the tooth although it has been capped since.

Got the last little tree planted yesterday in the rain. Now to get some blueberry bushes and see what else I can find to fill in a couple of gaps.
Also finally finished the bands on a jacket I made a couple of weeks ago but still need to sew it up. Seamless things are such a great invention. Have been looking out different sock patterns I'm not very good on short rows so want some more practice and see if I can master it to dodge getting little holes, have found a tutorial to follow.

Yay.. the mauve wool will last for the last bit on the blanket. Then three rows of Pink.. And hopefully 3 of the dark on the edge. But Ill still be happy if I get 2 on it.
Im going to start some christmassy things once the blanket is finished. My friend has a flight of stairs now, we have already talked about threading lights through them, but I might make her some bunting too.

But today Im baking.. Fruit mince pies today.. And it will depend how I feel as to if I throw a christmas cake in at the end. Soo looking forward to it.. Havent bothered with fruit mince pies for the last few years.

Morning Ladies from a grey wet Napier. Yes we have one for Mr S to use to turn over etc, but he asked me sometime ago to take it off the bed as he was knocking himself when getting out of bed etc Don't ask how? I don't know.. No pleasing some people.Told by other members of the family his brother was a real pain to care for before he pasted away.

At present we out at the beach for a week or so. We have had some very high tides. I've came in to town yesterday to do some work around the place while our friends are out there in their place. It handy we both share the same section and the place build like a double house. From the street looks like one large beach house. They are longtime friends and will take great care of Mr S. I will go back out later today.It does not take long for a house to feel damp with this weather we are having.Have the fire going.
Took out some DVD's to watch while out there. We spend more time watching ships as they head down the island and as the boat ramp nearby we see who going out and coming in. Maybe some fresh fish waiting for me when I go back out.

Time for to make a move and check on my baking.

Afternoon ladies, just home from the market and a better day today, in fact best day I've had in a while so maybe things will start to pick up this season.

I didn't think my kitchen/diner could get any more untidy but I was surprised. The builder came yesterday and cut and fitted the new shelves, and then took them out so I can paint them. There's 11 altogether and last night I gave them a coat of paint on both the underside and the topside, today I will just give the top a second coat. I have shelving all over the place. I have two saw horses between the dining table and the fridge with 3 pieces on, two more pieces are on the backs of dining chairs and the kitchen bench, and there's 6 pieces in the main bedroom and en suite. Not quite sure how I am going to cook tea tonight, but one way or another I'm cooking myself a roast chicken and veg. I will be so pleased when this pantry is finished and I can put everything away again.

Don't think I'll be doing any knitting tonight, I've been knitting just about all day, and by the time I've finished painting I'll be too tired.

morning ladies :) lol kuaka, I know that kind of chaos but it is worth it in the end. Our builder phoned last night and said the weather will be clear enough for them to finish our porch today. MrK has asked them build new steps too. Once they are finished we will paint and then the roofer can come back and finish the last of the guttering. We have already paid for the guttering when we had the house painted and new gutters put up two years ago. There is also heaps of paint left over from painting the house so don't need to buy any. Can't husbands/partners brass you off at times, this could have been done while the builders were here two years ago but His Stubborness decided he could do it. Oh well.

The cross stitch is coming along nicely, I'll be out and about later so will buy some more thread for a runner to go on the bedroom dressing table.

Morning ladies, well Mr K was always going to do these shelves but of course a broken neck and then the rest is history - but I will be pleased to get it finished. I painted the shelves with some paint we had left over from painting a wall in the billiard room, I don't particularly like the colour but couldn't justify buying more paint when it's so expensive. I could always repaint it at a later date if I really can't stand the colour (it's a bit darker than I would like) but I know that isn't going to happen.

Work this morning - will be working with the boss as my friend who I normally work with has family staying. Should be interesting.

I had better get cracking as I mustn't be late.

Morning everyone
Ohh Men lol.. I have had a couple of picture frames, for months that I want painted for christmas, and it still hasnt happened lol. I cant paint to save myself but am considering buying a can and spray paint it. lol. Yet if I ask him when he will do it, he will moan and groan lol

I baked 4 doz and 4 fruit mince pies yesterday and a fruit cake. And could still walk and no left over pain this morning..Yayay.
Giving it to a friend this monring who has 7 kids and will need to hide it in the bottom of the freezer lol

Have to write out a couple of recipes today and then I will crochet. I had enough mauve..!!! yay.. so have just started the pink and then Ill hopefully get a couple of rounds of the dark purple.
Then I might look at christmas stuff to do.

so much for the steps... ages ago I suggested we build a ramp rather than steps (trying to future proof the house for MrK) and no, we don't want a ramp. The builder suggests one today and ohh... what a good idea! MEN!! lol. Oh well, looks like MrK is going to build the ramp... so in another two years, we may have a ramp! Sigh...

Lol Kiwimade... I learnt many years ago to always suggest something to MrP.. Let it develope in his mind and eventually it will be his idea and a great one.
Thankfully I have plenty of patience and usually end up with what I suggested... lol

Morning everyone
Yep up bright and early. Need to duck up and do my bloods, pick up a couple of things from the supermarket and hopefully get some cheap butter from a fruit shop we have here.

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday, didnt end up getting much crochet done tho. Only 1.5 rounds. So 1.5 of the pink left and then what ever I get from the dark purple , and a few ends and Im done. Its the biggest one Im made in one square.
Did alot when we lived in our mobile home and it was easy cos I could sit on the couch with one foot on the floor and the bulk on the blanket sitting on the couch lol..
Lawn guys should be here this morning. Theres not alot on there to mow but heaps of daisies to be murdered .

Was given heaps of frozen rhubbarb yesterday so had to do a fast juggle of stuff in there. Goodness know where we will fit our sheep this year. So we enjoyed just a small bowl each last night.

Good morning. Lovely sunny day here in Napier. Yes I am still home busy doing jobs that I have put off over the last few weeks. Head off back out this afternoon. Mr S has been enjoying it out at the beach with everyone calling in to see him. Our friends are still out there as well.

Looked out some 8 ply wool last night for a small blanket. Take it out with me. Have knitted a few more clothes. Need to do some coloured ones. My shawl knitting has been put aside.

Kiwimade, had to smile about the ramp at your back door. You get there in the end.I have one off my craft room and handy when moving things about and can sit on the top as will.
I'm sure you will very happy once the painting done and everything put away again Kuaku. Been looking at my kitchen the last few days thinking it needs a make over. Have to way till the New Year.

Morning
Very blustery at he moment after such a lovel day yesterday. I did a wash before going to Mainly Music and one when I got home and all lovely and dry.
We now do a Mainly Music session for the new entrant's class for the school over the road straight after the one for the pre schoolers.
Knitted a small sock with a short row heel but obviously need more practice, and pay more attention as looks a bit odd. I was watching tv at same time so think my counting wasn't the best lol. Will do the other one later.
I got the dead gooseberry bush out now have to find something to,fill the gap.

morning ladies :) The builder has been here over the last two days but I think he has been rained off today as he's a no-show. He did say if it was going to rain he wouldn't be there, can't use electrical gear in the rain. MrK has acquired some timber for the ramp so maybe it won't take two years after all lol.

Am still beavering away on this cross stitch, it's starting to take shape and I have some yellow cotton for a runner in the bedroom. I realllly need some more fine days for sanding, had to flag it while the builder was here as both him & MrK were using the power points and the little bit of concrete we have for their sawing.

Went and caught up with Dad yesterday and came home with some duty free bourbon (thanks Dad lol) so I'm a happy camper.

Morning everyone
We had a wild night. Thunder and lightening and heaps of rain. Still raining on and off so I dont think the lawn will get done today. Its not hugely long but with it starting to warm up it will take off soon.

Got the pink finished and one side of dark purple last night. And thats what I plan to do today is sit until its finished. Pretty sure Ill get 2 rounds, but will play yarn chicken for a third. Its easy enough to undo if it doesnt reach the end.

Got some of the pretty salmon pink / weak orange yesterday. I have no plans but I wanted to get it to match the one I got for my birthday, incase I get inspired for something. It would be a pretty colour for a cardy but I dont have anything that would go with it.

morning ladies :) Whoahhhh we had an awesome thunder and lightening storm earlier, the Furry One was barking at the thunder, his tail wagging like crazy!

The builder arrived yesterday and finished the work he was asked to do so that leaves the bottom boards for MrK to nail on and the ramp. MrK is lining up timber for the ramp so I think that may just happen after he has finished the bookcase. The Furry One looks very indignant now there is a second door to be opened lol, how dare we make him wait before he goes outside lol. Spoilt brat, he does have a doggy door. :P

Not much crafting was done yesterday and won't do much today either as we are visiting MrK's sister and brother-in-law later.

Ive offered to make a blanket for a sweet little girl who got a Dolls cot the other day. So thats my next thing on the hook.

Do people still buy the knitted toys? I thought with all the gadgets around these days they wouldnt..there have been some beautiful knitted toys over the years & I did my share back in the days for family & friends.
The one thing I do miss seeing & those are the beautiful layettes we used to have on our babies..well I did anyway..I loved to knit & crochet I think I havent seen a baby in beautiful knitted clothes for years but then I dont see any babies anymore.

I am in several wool related groups on Facebook and its all coming back in a big way.

Afternoon
No storms here but a blustery wind is building up.
Had a rather long walk this am - into town then to quite a lot of places to check things out and shop finally ending up at library and bus home. Now feet up with lunch and coffee.
The blanket is awesome Popeye well done.
Yes Kiwigirl111smum handknitted woollies for babies still seem to be popular although patterns have changed a bit, but I have a few oldies which I have done numerous times over the past 40 or more years.
At the moment I am adjusting a pattern to get a V neck top down cardy for babies, have cast off the body part and see a dropped stitch part way up the back, annoying, I'll have to darn it in.

Yes, the younger generation has rediscovered dressing their littlies in woolens and are learning to knit/crochet or buying handmade garments. I think they like the uniqueness of it and having something 'different' to their friends. Our daughter has two, one aged nearly four and other nearly one and when pregnant with her first asked me to knit for her. Now all her friends eye up the jumpers and knitting and are wanting to know how they can have them too.

It's going to be a very busy weekend as two of my cousins I haven't seen for years are visiting and staying with Dad and our daughter is also staying with us for the weekend with #2 child. The #1 child is staying with her other grandmother. On top of this our daughter has a rescue dog she can't leave behind so he will be staying too. So the Furry One has 'family' staying as well lol. Heaven knows how much crafting will be done!

Morning everyone
A blustery day out there.

Have taken the car up for the dreaded warrant and a service. Have a loaner car which is good cos I hate not having one incase we need it.

Started the crochet blanket for the little dolls cot, doing one row colours (Silly me) but its looking quite pretty. Makes use of the little balls too.

Sounds like a busy weekend for you Kiwimade.. Have fun.. And Im pleased the furry one will have company too lol

A friends birthday today so I cant wait to catch up with her later in the day.
