Thanks Kiwimade.. Mines not till Sunday... When is yours?

Lol Kuaka that's a bad packing lol....

Ive decided Im going to knit me two teddies. one standing and one sitting. In some wool I got from deramores but will have to order another ball.

Slept like a log last night.. and feel much better today

tomorrow, popeye lol.. I knew your birthday was somewhere around mine! Been cleaning out the hot water cupboard, heard some VERY loud rustling in it last night and then some thumping in the ceiling and yes, we have a rat... grrr...hole is plugged up with tin foil, and I'm off to buy some rat poison for MrK to put in the ceiling as well as a bloody big trap. Am so glad I never opened the cupboard door! Luckily I don't keep much in the cupboard so it's a chuck out for the plastic containers and a damed good clean. There goes my day!
Happy knitting :)

Ohh a nasty find Kiwimade... Glad you have it all under control tho.

Do you have plans for your Birthday?

Im tossing up with going out for lunch, which equates to kfc or the bakery in the next town over.
Or cooking the roast of beef Ive been saving.. Im thinking the roast will win. Cos Ive been patient and making it stay in the freezer for something special.
My nephews birthday today hes 37 Im a young 48 on sunday.. I don't feel old enough to remember him being born. But I do lol

Hes an executive Chef he travels a lot and is currently working in Aussie again. Now it would be nice if he was home to cook up both lunch lol

1206

hehehe popeye that would be nice! Haven't thought about what we'll do, I'll be 49 so next year is the 'big' one. Husband bought some steak for dinner and I've got some mushrooms so will more than likely have my favourite steak and mushies.
Cupboard is cleaned out, rat poison is on a wire hook in the ceiling so the rat has to eat it and not drag it away, dead mouse in trap disposed of and house thoroughly cleaned (again!!) and all holes blocked. Can't believe how many mice we have caught over the last three months. Am knackered so am going to sit down and knit after I've had my shower.

Sounds like a big day.. Im not bothered too much by rodents.. but I don't like bugs.. Have always been fine with mice but was babysitting a families menagerie years ago and they had a pet rat. The girls promptly got her out of the cage and handed her to me, just as well I didn't freak out lol. I will admit tho the wild ones are plain and boring lol.

Ive knitted a teddies head.

Have got tea sorted. Crumbed chicken breast with perla potatoes and Salad.

Said to MrP if given the choice Id be much happier staying home on my birthday and having the beef lol. So that's my choice sorted.

I will get some more listing done that way too lol

Oh you poor babies, I'm going to have a big birthday later this year, it doesn't have a "0" on the end of it, but a "5" - it is very significant nonetheless, probably one of the more significant ones we celebrate. Can't say I feel almost 65. Apart from my aching shoulders, I don't feel a day over 30.

Hi ladies. Mac had his vet visit on Wed and is still not 100% But you wouldn't know it by his behavior. Lol.
Is there anyone that posts in here younger than me at (soon to be) 41?
We have a house warming to go to tomorrow nite and I was asked to make my smoked salmon spread. I also found on facebook a cheesy pull apart bread loaf so will make that too.
Hope everyone has a super duper knitting weekend.

whiskey, you young thing you, lol. I turned 61 two weeks ago but definitely don't feel it. I feel 41, lol. Everyone says I don't look my age - maybe they're being kind!

popeye, Amelia looks great. You sure are a fast knitter.

I've started sewing up the baby cardigan so I can do the neck and front borders.

Have a reasonably busy day tomorrow but Sunday it's meant to rain so I hope it does as I envisage sitting here knitting!

Heavy rain woke me at 6 this morning, it was absolutely bucketing down, stoppped now, but the NZ Herald arrived on the driveway just tied not wrapped so that's all soggy where it lay on the wet concrete - that will make hubby happy - NOT.

Might have to tidy up my "knitting corner" today before it spreads out over the entire room. I might even frighten the furniture with a duster, but I think I will spend most of the day knitting, possibly do a little bit of sewing.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Happy birthday kiwimade.
Just leaving to take the fur for a walk. Busy day planned. Hope to get some knitting done tonight.

Fine here but cold. Apparently it is going to get to 21 deg today.

1213

thanks pats3 :) I don't feel 49 either! I'm about to take The Furry One for his walk too before the rain kicks in and MrK is going to check the rat bait (ick!) he tied to a pice of wire and the cupboard. Thought it was better this way than have the rat take the bait outside somewhere for the Furry One to find.
The pull apart cheese bread and salmon spread sound yummy!
Lol kuaka, I believe age is just a number!
Have a few small things to do then I'm going to make some tassells for the throw I'm making (will finish off a ball of yarn), do the embroidery bit and maybe start the next panel. Ahhh bliss!
Happy knitting :)

Well we've got the works here right now, thunder, lightning and very heavy rain, and I have to go out later. I think I'll get myself ready to go after breakfast and then just wait for a break in the weather (if there is one) and make a dash for it, otherwise I might get wet and shrink!

kuaka - 2013-05-04 08:42:00
1215

Morning All... Happy Birthday Kiwimade, and belated for you too Pats. You kept that quiet lol.
A lot of people tell me I don't look my age, which is nice, but I reckon they just aren't looking at the grey hair taking over. I swear someone puts more in every night.

Whiskey you must be the youngen here lol

Its fine here ....

Im very unsettled at the mo, I think its all the house make over shows I watch on choice tv... So my plan today is to go to the warehouse and buy some bookcases, Which will make my "sideboard" in the lounge.
We have a huge dark wall unit and although its behind me I feel like its weighing down on my back like a heavy load.

I will get four bookcases and use the top of a coffee table we pulled apart years ago but never got rid of for the top. And Im having a weel change around of sets of drawers too

What would look really cool is two of the tall white bookcases in my room with the wider lower one that MrP made me years ago on the wall behind me. BUT the Furry one uses the lower one to get up to the windowsill in the lounge. I think we would end up with clawed skid marks if we took that away from him.

So I will have my change around and do the side board and hopefully that will settle me. I might look at plastic baskets for storage on the little bookcase next to me. To smarten that up a bit.

And cos I had soo much going through my mind last night I totally forgot to watch restorationman.., I wanted to see the hansel and Gretel cottage. im hoping it might be on demand. Not that Ive ever used that before

Have a fab day for your Birthday Kiwimade... ohh must take the beef out of the freezer for our dinner tomorrow too, Ill do it in the crockpot.

Hi all, hope it's a good weekend for everyone.
Whiskey it looks as though you definitely the 'baby' in here lol. I am a very young 58 ;)
Happy belated birthday pats, Happy Birthday for today kiwimade, and Happy Birthday tomorrow popeye xoxoxoxo for all.

Don't overdo it moving things around popeye, it's nice to have a change and make a room more workable and comfortable.

Take care everyone xoxo

Thanks Maible... Im certainly going top be taking my time with the moving things about.

We went to town and I spent precious wool money on some new things. Got the bookcases, some baskets for storage on the other bookcase beside me. And I got the most pretty letter rack, pen cup and memo cube holder. Its white metal fillagrie.. very Pretty... I seem to be starting to like Girly things lol.

Tomorrow I will swap two sets of drawers and sort my work area out in the lounge.
Also will mark the old coffee table Im using for the top of my side board , so we can take it up to have it cut. handy having friends with a timber yard lol

Then it will be, sit in the middle of the lounge floor and assemble the bookshelves lol.

First thing on the Agenda tomorrow is to put our wee bit of bolar beef into the crockpot for our tea.. YUMMMMMM

1218

Happy birthday popeye! Hope you have a wonderful day today :)
Not a lot planned for today, will take the Furry One for his walk and then potter about. If the rain can hold off for a bit I'll weed the last part of my garden, otherwise I'll have to be inside (now that would be a buggar wouldn't it? lol)
Happy knitting :)

Morning All.. Thanks Kiwimade...

Yup Im playing furniture movers today. And that always makes my mind feel good even if the body will complain at the end.

Ill be seeing a friend later, after shes done with church etc.

Im planning an utterly wicked dinner, Ive got this tiny roast of beef, will do that in the crockpot. will cook some perla potatoes. And make yummy gravy in the crockpot. No other veges lol and two slices of bread to mop up the gravy lol.
Bread is a treat as we are both diabetic and it usually can make me feel icky. But its something I always want when there is a yummy gravy to be had.
Knitting will wait till tonight. Ive done the ears head and body on the first teddy, started a leg last night. yesterday we were in a cheapie shop and MrP spotted some perfect light brown wool for the second one. So I got 100 grms for $4. dearer than deramores but he liked it so that will be his one. Im going to sit them on my wooden rocking chair.

Right have a good day all... hope its productive

Beautiful sunny day here today, not a breath of wind, but it's a tad cool so I've got the heat pump going. We only installed it in October, so it will be interesting to see what it does to our power bill, but I feel the cold terribly and our house isn't particularly sunny as it's "on the wrong side of the hill" and in any case was built for the view so the lounge and family room don't get the sun at all.

Going to do some more knitting today. I didn't get my corner tidied up yesterday and the furniture had a relaxing day - the duster went nowhere near any of it! I've got a sore throat and am feeling a bit miserable, so I think I'll just relax and knit.

Thanks Katie.... Kuaka I hope your feeling a little better. Ive moved the part of the furniture I can move for today. Still wants to sort out the work area now.

but got side tracked when My older brother called me for a chat. And then a friend came around with my pressies.. We have had a present bag going between us for about 7-8 years. so that came back with two rolls of Duct tape in it.. Noo nothing Kinki lol she is able to get it from work .. But she had another bag and it had a dvd/cd player combo.. she totally floored me.

So that will go in my room when I change that over after we have the wood cut down this week.

Waiting for listings to finish then Ill play in my work area.

A very happy birthday to you popeye. Hope you have a lovely day.

Went for a walk with the fur this morning, came back and then went and saw a girlfriend and had a cuppa with her. Came home, mowed the lawns and did a little gardening before the rain came. It's still not here but very overcast.

Was going to spend the afternoon knitting but have just found out that my older sister has had a fall and broken her leg. Thought I might make a lasagne and take that over later. I make a big one so they should be able to get a few meals off that. She was with 2 of her grandchildren and all I know is that she fell off the flying fox!!! Wait 'til I see her - she will be having a stern talking to, lol.

Ohh wow Pats, yes will it be an act your age talk? lol.. poor thing. Im sure she will appreciate your cooking and help tho.

Im going to go offline shortly and play in my office stuff etc in my corner

Hi Everyone
Well my leg is now in a pressure bandage to promote better healing.
Dr Who scarf has been progressing in leaps and bounds - although I took some time off for cardmaking.

TC that is AWESOME.... wicked,,, how many more feet do you have to do?

Is the preassure bandage helping? gosh its been a while eh.

Im about to go for my yummo dinner.

Ive done what I wanted to get done today. Although I do feel I might have to play with my cookbooks.

MrP already saying ive done way too much today but I seem to get all the puff in the world on sundays. And I can do far more than I can do any other day lol.

Have a good evening everyone.

1227

Hi popeye333
I have just under 6ft to knit on the scarf - have to have it completed by 20th May for Birthday on 25th May.
Nurses think I will need the pressure bandage for 12+ weeks - they are doing dressing changes twice weekly but I think my leg is reinfecting so it might have to be done more regular.
Not sure what we are having for tea - Mr Critic is cooking!

thecritic - 2013-05-05 17:04:00
1228

nice to see you back TC, what a long haul you have had for your leg! The scarf look amazing, can't wait to see it finished. MrK cooked dinner last night for my birthday BUT left all the dishes for me to do this morning! Cheeky buggar!
We have been given some ducks (shot this morning) so MrK has gone to get them - he can do the plucking.
Spent this afternoon unpicking more than knitting... kept making the same silly mistake.
Hope kuaka is on the mend, sore throats are nasty.

kiwimade64 - 2013-05-05 17:44:00
1229

How long will the scarf be in the end? They are cool tho.

Ohh Yummm I love duck... I did one in the crockpot last year and it was lovely.

My tea was Yummo... Very full now tho. MrP is the dishwasher, but he does them in the mornings.

I haven't done any knitting today... feels norty lol. I may do some soon, but I really really want to move some of my cookbooks.. Its wether I can do it without MrP growling and telling me to stop for the day.

popeye333 - 2013-05-05 17:56:00
1230

Morning All.. Wow what a morning.. Wild wind, rain and the bbq threatening to blow over again.

Didn't knit at all yesterday...

It got cold last night, didn't want to disturb MrP by trying to fine my poncho I use as a bed jacket so got a nice thick towel from the hot water cupboard and sat reading with that around my shoulders lol.

Perfect day for knitting but I have a couple of things to get done first.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-05-06 08:45:00
1231

Hi everyone, it's wet, windy and cold in Christchurch too, horrible day - good for knitting or reading though ;)
thecritic I sure hope the pressure bandage helps, that leg is such a worry. Your scarf is looking amazing, it's going to be awesome!
pats3 hope your sister is doing ok and that the break is not too major and will heal quickly.
kuaka I hope your sore throat is getting better, if not not take care and rest as much as possible.
popeye it sounds as though you got a lot done yesterday, well done. Hope you had a lovely birthday.

Off to do some knitting now, have a good day all xo

maible - 2013-05-06 11:30:00
1232

I still haven't got to the needles yet. Been playing in the office / spareroom. Tidied it up big time.
Have a box of books and picture frames for the Oppy.

Have transferred some of my stationery to the camphor box the frames were in.
Did I mention I hoard stationery too lol
Which means I wont have as much to put into the bedside table when I do the swap in my room.
Will get the wood measured today and hopefully it will be fine enough to take that up to be cut to size. I say wood, its probably cheap stuff covered in veneer cos its an old coffee table. Im making use of it now as we don't have room for a coffee table and I don't like having obstacles around for MrP to fall or trip into.

Have the lecky blanket sitting on my bed, will put that one tomorrow lol

popeye333 - 2013-05-06 12:23:00
1233

Everyone must have been busy yesterday.

I got the leg of the teddy finished yesterday, but that was the only knitting I did.
Made up the four bookcases. and I did get the timber marked for the cutting.
Going to take a load of stuff to the oppy, get the timber cut and get the furry one some more bikkies.
Hopefully the lawns will be done today. A combination of the grass being too long and the furry ones belly being too low, he has to tip toe lol or his belly gets wet . He is not amused hahaha

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-05-07 08:39:00

Morning everyone. Looks like everyone is busy. Sometimes life gets in the way. Lovely day in Christchurch, I may not get much knitting done.

1235

morning :) Have just got back from our walk.. The Furry One met his friend a black cat and they played together for a while (why oh why will he play with this cat and not others grrrr lol). Got some amused looks from people passing by - I suppose a Jack Russell and a cat playing together can seem odd.
Didn't get much knitting done yesterday - had the electrician out as the cable between the garage and the house went bang - and I mean BANG! Sounds like an expensive fix. Then off with Dad to Waikato Hosp for his appointment.
Today I'm going to finally get our daughter's box painted but first it's a cup of tea, then groceries. Should get to my knitting some time this afternoon :).
Happy knitting :)
Edited to add aren't our furry ones funny when they get wet... our JR HATES having his feet wet and won't go near water.

Hi all, was having a laugh about the furry ones getting wet. Just mentioned to a friend a couple of days ago how our little furry white dog loves being out in the rain, snow and dirt, while the other two are big babies and have to be shoved outside to toilet when it's cold or damp.

Popeye sorry I ended up not bidding on your items I had watchlisted, we had to buy a replacement freezer on Saturday so didn't have the funds :(
Hope someone snapped them up, otherwise will keep an eye out if you relist.

I'm off to make a coffee and go out on the deck to sit in this lovely Christchurch sunshine, have a lovely day everyone xo

Animals are funny eh... My friend has a Jack Russell and three cats. They all get along.

We used to have what could be called a Mango special, Mango from Mangakino where we lived, and special cos cos his heritage would have been too hard to figure out, he was a big dog, if he stodd on his hind feet he could reach my shoulders.
He wouldn't walk through puddles. When he was younger we had to carry him over/ around puddles. Sadly he went a bit physcho, and he could run up to me and knock me over. Im no tiny wee thing either. So he went to a big strong man to teach him some manners.

That's ok Maible. Things can happen. Our freezer died a couple of months back. Talk about wee panic stations, cos It was loaded.

Ill be listing more, when I top up my account.

After Ive finished playing furniture redesigner lol.. Ive sold my huge wall unit, it goes on the weekend so Ill be all finished next week Yayay, Its already starting to feel better

First post for Wednesday.
Morning ladies.
Just got in from work. We had a side of beef arrive today (oops i meant yesterday lol) so our freezer is chocka. The perks of having farmers in the family.Fillet, porterhouse, rump, rib eye, Schnitzel, silver-side, stewing, bolar roast, rolled roast, mince, patties, sausages, Everything was packed into packs for 2 people and the mince into packs of 500 gms. It cost $220 for the side of beef and $80 for processing. we priced everything up at Raeward Fresh and saved nearly $150. We haven't needed to buy meat for a very long time and i was shocked at the prices. How can an average family eat healthy when the stuff thats better for you is so expensive.
Sorry about my rant. (and please don't think I'm skiting either). Mrwhiskey and i have worked hard to buy 20 acres and i can't wait to get out there and be self suffient, growing our own meat, fruit and veges. My hours at work have been reduced so to stop me spending money that we haven't got, I've been told (nicely) to make Fridays (no work, 3 day weekends until further notice) a stay at home and be crafty day. As well as cook a roast for tea night. So I've just dropped down a leg of lamb.

whiskey13 - 2013-05-08 00:36:00
1239

morning :) meat is expensive, we run a few sheep as home kills (not this summer though with the drought) and when we have to buy it, the price shocks us. It's a huge saving and great to have it in the freezer. Our butcher cuts the meat exactly how we like it and we will often leave one leg whole so we can have a family dinner with my Dad and sister. (And I didn't think for a minute you were skiting whiskey).
Still painting daughter's toy box, got the main colour on it now. Will put the 'crackle' stuff on this morning then the top coat. The top coat will shrink and crack and show the apple green underneath. Thought I would do this rather than the distressing as it looked like fun! And daughter loves the 'cracked' nail polish.. ok.. that part was random thinking lol. Can't wait to see it finished.
Will get to my knitting this afternoon hopefully.
Happy knitting.

I get really cheesed off when my sister phones from the UK and tells me she is buying vacuum packed legs of NZ lamb for 3.99 (pounds sterling) a kilo at Tesco, and the cheapest I ever see it here at Countdown is $14.99 - they even want $13.99 kg for neck chops!

Going to our local stitch and bitch or as a UK friend calls it "knit & natter" which I think sounds much nicer. Not sure what I will take, but today if I take something that requires a pattern, I'll try to make sure I take the right pattern!

It's looking a bit like rain at the moment, and I was hoping to walk down and get hubby to pick me up later, but if it's raining I might have to rethink that plan, I would hate to get wet and shrink.

Morning all.... Not skiting at all whiskey.. your very lucky to be able to get meat like that. I miss fresh meat from the farm.
Id love to become self sufficient and grow everything we eat.. Always been a dream or hope of mine. Since we lived on 10 acres when I was a teenager, had chooks, ducks pigs sheep a couple of beef and pigs. Would love to do that again

But Id want it to be right on the edge of town so I had the best of both worlds.

Kuaka we don't want you shrinking, so take a brolly lol.

Have washing on, it looks like a nice morning anyway. Have to post a sale. And then I want to move the last set of drawers into place.
Started an arm last night. so have about an arm and a half to do. Been a bit slower this knit.

Deramores sent me a lovely email since they hadn't heard from me in a while. Offering me 15% off all wool... yay... I was planning on ordering on the weekend so that works fine for me.

Have a good day all

I wouldn't mind shrinking if it was only widthways, but knowing my luck, I'd shrink downwards, and at 5 foot nothing, I can't afford to do that! It's raining right now, so I will go and search for my brolly.

Its very dark and cloudy now that I have 3 full loads of washing out. getting cold too.
Ill leave it as long as I can then will warm the house up with the dryer lol.

Finished first arm and started last one..

perfect day for knitting

Morning everyone.. Must all have busy fingers lol.

Yay managed to go out and do the messages up the road, get groceries and get it in without getting wet.

Finished knitting the first bear last night. And started the next. Will make them up together.

Hope everyone is mending and starting to feel better

Hi all,
it's a horrible damp cold day in Christchurch, was planning to pop out and get a couple of errands done but have changed my mind....
Knitting is a slow and frustrating process for me at the moment - the lump on my finger gets worse each time I bump it. Will be off to my doctor as soon as she's back next week.
Hope everyone else is well, and knitting happily, glad you got all your messages done without getting wet popeye :)

Im here lol, was just busy this morn. Wanted to get up the road and back before it rained. Which I managed.
Its going to hose down here again tho, very dark.

Have cleared off the wall unit, only to be told the person who wanted it cant get it out this weekend. so Im going to see the young ones next door and see if they would like it. Otherwise It will have to go into the office cos I want my side board come h*ll or high water. Ick the stuff on the top felt horrible. Its soo high that it didn't get cleaned like it should have lol.

Will knit later. I did the head of the second teddy last night.

Hope all the aches and pains are not being worse due to the drop in temperature.

Hi all - seems a while since I've been able to pop in here. Was in Wellington for 10 days awaiting arrival of Niece's new baby which finally arrived 6 days overdue. Well worth the wait as adorable little girl her big sister (3.5) and brother (2yrs old) both think she is rather great.

Now have workers in to prep and plaster the hall and 2 bedrooms ready for painting. I managed to strip off the old paper before going away and paint the ceilings now for the hard part of the whole procedure - choosing the colour. Would like something fairly neutral but warm looking as the hall is quite dark and the back bedroom doesn't get much sun.

At least I have had time to get quite a bit of knitting done and used up some left-over wool to learn to knit using the magic loop technique. Now I have the hang of it I prefer it to using double pointed needles.

Hope you are all managing to keep warm and dry as I see from the weather reports that parts of the country have had some rather awful weather. We had a little rain over night here but on the whole it is still reasonably warm and pleasant although I think there is a southerly heading this way.
