#Post

Morning everyone,
Wow that was busy for the Helicopter. We hear them here too, too often.

I plan on getting the curtains sewn today.. That way I can get our house lady to put them up on Friday.
I realised last night that I didnt get my loyalty card stamped yesterday at the St Johns oppy so will contact them soon, its 3 stamps so I dont want to miss out on those.

I need to sort out something to crochet, I hate just sitting watching tv. I think the trouble is I have too many yummy wools and just cant decide what to do with it lol... Never thought id say that, but the wool lotto tipped me over the edge lol

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) We're choosing the fabric for the bedroom curtains today (when I say 'we', I mean me lol). Then the paint for the walls can be chosen. Am trying to convince MrK we could start taking some things out of the bedroom over the next few days.

The shawl/scarf is coming along nicely and I'm noticing the decreases now, it's that much quicker knitting with fewer stitches.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Exciting times redecorating Kiwimade. It doesnt feel long since you did the other rooms.

Got my curtains done yesterday. So Erin will help me put them up tomorrow. Have also got the runners and hooks out, and will sort through them later. Theyve just been added to over the time and are all mixed kinds.

Shopping this morning, a very small list which is good. Ill do my blood today so I dont have to go out tomorrow and then Saturday. And will go get my loyalty card stamped at St Johns Oppy since it was forgotten the other day.

Have a design in my mind for some crochet. I also want to add some ribbon into it. So will have a play with some smalll balls of wool before I get the good stuff out. It will be for christmas so I dont want to use, then undo and redo on the sparkly yarns.

Having a CBB day.. Cant Be Bothered lol, so Ive warned MrP It might be best if he ignores me today lol

Have a good day everyone

Morning ladies,

Well yesterday I put the second coat on the ceiling, and though it's not perfect it's a huge improvement on how it was before. I've just put the masking tape on the floor next to the skirting (rimu flooring), and am trying to decide where to start doing the walls which will get their first coat as soon as I've had a cup of tea. Hope two coats of pale cream will be enough to cover the old colour, which was duck egg blue.

So I had better get cracking. Don't know how long it will take me, but I'm guessing that when I finish I won't feel like doing much except a shower and knitting. There is also a chance that I won't get all four walls done today, but that would be a shame.

Enjoy your day.

It's been a productive morning :) 'We've' picked out the curtains, a medium grey with charcoal grey pattern, will have a dark grey backing. And the paint for the walls will be a softish grey with steel grey for the doors and floor to ceiling bookcase. Crisp white trim and windows/ceiling and soft yellow accessories like the bedside lamp and duvet. Now to dig out the paint I need. I know I have the stuff you paint over varnish to make paint stick and that will have to be done first as it needs a few days to cure. And I had better check and make sure I have enough sealant for the walls. Some of the wallpaper is just peeling off with me using my fingernails but the rest will need to be sanded. I'll wash the old curtains and donate them to the Sallys along with the rail. There's also a massive 6 inch nail nailed into the wall (heaven knows why!) so MrK is going to take that out for me. I think he's scared I will damage the wall if I did it lol but I know to use a block of wood under the hammer... sigh...

Lol Kiwimade, just boost his ego and tell him he was the one that taught you, even if he didnt lol...
When I went to FB this morning, Whiskey13 had shown some Very pretty skeins of multi coloured yarns. The conversation went, Ohh its too nice to Knit, Id just want to look at it. To Ohh, wouldnt it be lovely wound into balls in one of those big trifle bowls on a stand, as a centre piece of the table.. Which went to Ohh I have red, white and green Sparkly wool, I could wind over ping Pong balls to save the yarn... too Ohh I saw a large bowl at the Oppy on Tuesday, it would be perfect.

So I went to the oppy thinking, If Im meant to have it, it will still be there and maybe the box of ping pong balls I saw there too would be there..

The Bowl was there.. YAYAYAY, not the ping pong balls tho. So I will have a look in the cheapie shops, or the emporium on Saturday, and polystyrene balls too, cos it would take too many pingpong balls...

AND it will look neat on the table runner I want to do..

Yesterday bored out of my brains... Today Full of ideas lol

Phew - well that's the first coat on the walls. The colour isn't as dark as I'd expected it to be, but will probably look a bit better when it's had the second coat - tomorrow if I have any "oomph" left!

Coffee and then a shower, and that's my lot for today apart from food and knitting.

And I won't even feel guilty ignoring the garden or washing as it is raining (for a change)

Well done Kuaka. MrP says paint dries two shades darker than when you put it on.

I got the Balls from the Dollar city shop a couple of doors away from the take away shop we go to Yay. So now I can take my time and cover the balls. Got 2 sizes of polystyrene balls and a packet of Pingpong incase I need them, and Missy will play with them if I dont.

Sorted through heaps of curtain hooks and runners for tomorrow, put the walker in the car for Saturday. So tomorrow I get to play all day lol

morning ladies :) Well done kuaka, it's hard on the back and shoulders isn't it.

We may have our daughter and her family visiting, it depends if the storm is finished with us or not. Don't want them travelling in that weather.

Almost there with the scarf/shawl, a few more good 'innings' and it will be done. If I block it, it will need to dry before my yoga class lol as I use the mat for blocking.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
No storm here - or if there was o didn't hear a thing!

Good on you with all your painting - and planned painting. I enjoy painting except fit the cleaning of rollers and brushes.
Agree not wanting a family with little ones travelling in foul weather Kiwimade.

Found that I can get a pair of socks and 2 pairs of booties from a 100gm skein of wool so am using up the left overs from the socks and knitting booties at the moment.

Morning everyone
Was a wild old night, but the sun is shining now. Hopefully its safe for your daughter to travel Kiwimade.
Wow Jayemtoo thats alot of items from one ball of wool.

Im going to try and start my table runner, practice this morning. I know what I want, I just have to figure oout how to do it lol.. Might need to take photos and ask for opinions on here. Many brains are m,uch better than one. especially mine. Im not the most logical thinker at times and can a long time to figure out how to do something easy lol.

Stay safe and dry today everyone

Morning all have had internet problems all week - type a post then internet shuts down and all is lost - you never know this one might just survive!
Still doing endless rounds of trebles - which no matter how hard I try are not tidy - I asked on the pattern Facebook page - lots of suggestions from rubbing my hook in my hair to wiping it with a clothes dryer sheet -which incidently I had never heard of - mind are actually no worse than a lot of others who have popped up a photo so am plodding on. Must be the Aran weight acrylic
Going to get to 16deg today so Dogs going to enjoy that
Hope you family get through kiwimade

Afternoon ladies,

I decided that if I was awake early I would get up and put the second coat of paint on the walls so that it was done, and will be dry and I can put the room back together either later this afternoon or tomorrow morning - so that's what I did. I'm reasonably happy with it except that the original ceiling paint (no idea whether it was originally white or cream) only covered the ceiling. The scotia was done in the same duck egg blue as the walls. Course I should have realised that the scotia might need an extra coat, but it didn't get one, so now the ceiling looks white, the walls look cream and the scotia looks grey. Grrrrr. It is probably going to stay like that for a while.

Now for some lunch, then I can relax for a while and then when I've got my second wind I shall wash the bedroom floor and then put the bed back in it and make it up and hopefully put the curtain track and curtains back up.

I think we missed the worst of the bad weather up here, although we did have torrential rain this morning, it was short-lived.

Have a super afternoon everyone.

Morning everyone

What a wet night we had.. I imagine there will be flooding around, and I wont try and get out of our road the normal way I go. its a very low point and always floods.
Will ring the hospital about 9 and double check its all go, cos we dont have the letter. I didnt think it would get here in time.

Dont think Ill be doing any other shopping, other than the fruit shop.

Take care if your travelling today.

morning ladies :) It's pretty soggy here but not anything like down south! I have family in Ashburton, Geraldine and Timaru so will have to call around and see how they are all doing.

It's a perfect day to strip wallpaper so once the dishes are done I'll make a start.

I have around 30 odd rows to go on my shawl/scarf. Then I'll start a throw for the bedroom. Have found a duvet online for the room but will look at it when in Hamilton on Tuesday. Then I can decide about the throw colour and pattern wise.

Better get cracking, the wallpaper won't fall off the walls by itself!

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies,

I hardly slept a wink last night, except in the chair before bedtime. I got up at 4.30 and had tea and toast, and went back to bed and slept till just after 7, so I think by tonight I will be pretty tired.

Yesterday afternoon I washed the floor in the bedroom, put the curtain track and curtains back up, put the bed back in there and made it up. Just have to put the bedside table and lamp back in and it's all done.

Lemon meringue pie is in progress, filling is made and pastry base is in the oven. Broccoli salad, next and then I can start to get organised.

Have a super day everyone - will be no time for knitting for me today.

Morning
Overcast but no rain, it certainly sounds a mess down south.

Into soup making at moment then will go out and get more fruit. There's a place which has very nice citrus just hoping they have oranges now.

Still happily knitting socks, hope I don't get tired of them until I've used up at least 2 more lots of sock wool! I have more to dye so if weather stays dry might do those later.
Enjoy your day

Morning all - my son lives in Outram - they were evacuated last night but they are safe - he had 10 people from the NI down there for a meeting who couldn't fly out - no accomodation so they had all just settled down sleeping at his house on everything that they could find to sleep on or in and civil defence came knocking -my DIL has a huge garden that will be heartbreaking but at least they are safe
Grey old day here but warmish - something has tickled up my asthma might take a walk by the sea today

gerry64 - 2017-07-22 09:52:00
12369

ohh dam Gerry, loosing my garden would break my heart too. I noticed some ladies posting in a FB rose group I belong too asking if their roses can survive 4 inches of water for a couple of days.

Two walls stripped, this is the worst bedroom in the house. The previous owners moved a door and never painted or wallpapered the wall the door was taken out of but the rest of the room had a couple of coats of paint over wallpaper that is either falling off the wall or stuck forever. My only hope is too take off all the loose wallpaper and sand back everything. Going to be a fun day when I do that! There will be dust for Africa! MrK is keeping me going with cups of tea lol. He hates stripping wallpaper but happy to advise me. I've been stripping wallpaper since I was a kid 'working' for dad lol.

12370

morning ladies :) Am a bit stiff from using MrK's big sander yesterday, will well and truly need my yoga lesson on Tuesday lol. Half a room to sand today and maybe put that paint stuff on the varnish, will see how I go. I need to buy some sandpaper for my mouse sander today, it is sooo good for sanding windows as it gets right into the corners.

I finished knitting my shawl/scarf last night, it just needs blocking. Will do that when I can. Am quite chuffed and it wasn't hard to do at all. Have lots of yarn left over though. Once it's blocked I'll take a pic and post it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
You certainly know when you have been stripping and sanding walls eh Kiwimade. Ohh cant wait to see your shawl.

I have one very worn out MrP. Hes still in bed. He walked further yesterday than he has in a long time. Just have to wait for the report to get back from the echo now.

Need to pop up the road later, but otherwise Ill be home. I need to measure a couple of our footstools. The fake leather is peeling. So I thought Id make covers from the fabric I got last week. I hope it wont stretch like a crochet cover would. Ill make them so they are a snug fit tho.

Still no crochet. Im going to liost some stuff on here later too need to get the amount of toys and blankets down a bit.

No wind out there, overcast but bending towards a brighter sky.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all - chilly greyish day here - just heard from family down south river is running 4metres above the level of their house so as long as the stock banks hold they will be OK - he said he can hear his father telling him he woukdnt be buying a house that close to such a big river
My blanket is now taking a ball a row - 3 rows to go
My mum is being cantankerous wants no party for her 100th so we don't know whether to go ahead and organise something or not - just wants us to bring cake in for the staff -she doesn't want her telegram from the queen as it is organised through Maggie Barrys office and she likes 1080 poison -
blimmin heck she certainly is still feisty - speaking of cards haven't been able to find a nice 100 birthday card yet - might need to find a card maker
I am going to take the opportunity to day to clear out all my kitchen drawers and cupboards as I search for my can opener - it has just disappeared off the face of the earth - weird
Looking forward to seeing the shawl kiwimade

Morning ladies,

I think I can safely say that yesterdays mid-winter Christmas do at my place was a success. Everyone had lots of eat and drink, we had lots and lots of laughs and plan to make it an annual event - not necessarily at my place though. Two of the ladies arrived in the afternoon, one had a roasting tin full of veg to roast and then we discovered that her tin wouldn't fit in my oven, so transferred it all to one of mine. The other lady had brought a cauliflower cheese dish and a dish of leeks and tomatoes. They helped set up the tables, two dining room tables pushed together (a round one and a rectangular one - but it worked) and a trestle table to put the food on, and everyone helped themselves. I cooked roast potatoes, someone else brought a pav and someone else brought sushi for starters.

When we'd finished, a couple of them loaded the dishwasher and did some dishes by hand, and there wasn't a lot of clearing up to do this morning, which is just as well as I have a bit of a sore head. We were all supposed to do something as a "special talent" so mine was to bend over and put my hands flat on the floor. Nobody else could do it and I was doing it for the 4th time and slipped on the vinyl floor and fell flat on my face, knocking my forehead. That'll teach me to be smart!

The last ones left after midnight and I have a spare car in the driveway! People will think I've had someone stay overnight, but it's still just me and puss.

Now I had better google how to get red candle wax out of a lace tablecloth.

Going to have a relaxing day today. Will return dishes etc to the neighbours and then take it easy this afternoon.

Have a super day everyone.

Gerry what horiscope sign is your mum? She might just really want you to do something but wont tell you. Reverse phsycology. Id plan something anyway.
Many years ago I had an adopted grandmother. Nana Wesley.. our birthdays were only a few days apart so we had a 130th combined birthday. She was 100 and me 30 of course. She was one of the most independant women I knew. She didnt everything for herself, still living in her own home,, apart from writing. her eyesight wasnt the best by then. She was a Lovely darling of a woman. And it was an honor for me to share our party.

Wow Kuaka it sounds like you had a ball. I would say depending on what the tablecloth is made out of , some paper towels then brown paper and the iron might get the wax out.. or freezing it might help too.. And if Need be Dye it.

Well today didn't work out quite as planned. I'd no sooner had breakfast and I had a call from one of the neighbours to say they would be down to collect their dishes - but in the end 3 of the ladies came, and there were some wine bottles half full, so we emptied them and finished off some of the food for lunch. They have just left again - and are still coming back for their dishes, which they didn't take away. I still have a spare car in the driveway.

People will be talking - my reputation is ruined!

morning ladies :) Sounds like you're having a ball kuaka, I love those kinds of weekends!

The bedroom walls are all sanded down except for one corner where there is a heavy cupboard and I need help to move that. So will ask a friend if I can 'borrow' her sons. Today I'll buy the paint and take a few things from the room to the op shop, there is a shelf unit thingy that we no longer want but someone may have a use for it. So I have the windows left to sand and that corner which won't take long to do.

I will block my scarf/shawl Wednesday as I need my yoga mat tomorrow so should be able to take a photo over the next day or so.

Now to find my next project, have decided on a slate grey throw for the bedroom as the duvet we have picked out has quite a bit of yellow. So many wonderful patterns out there or I could even make up my own. Knit or crochet lol... love having choices.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2017-07-24 08:00:00
12379

Morning ladies,

Well my spare car disappeared late yesterday afternoon, and I nearly have the house back to the way it was before the Christmas do - it's still tidier than it was before - I wonder how long that will last???

I managed to do a few rows of knitting before I fell asleep in the chair last night, but I didn't have a nana nap yesterday like some of the younger folk apparently did.

I have arranged for one of the neighbours to paint the ceiling in the main bedroom and also the lounge and two walls of the lounge which extend over the top of the staircase. He's not going to do it all at once, we'll arrange something that suits us both, a bit further down the track - give me a chance to save up some money to pay him, but the main bedroom is huge, and I know I won't get a good result on the ceiling, but I can do the walls myself, even if I only do one wall a day. There's no hurry. The walls which are above the staircase, are just too daunting for me. I don't fancy being perched on a ladder or a plank to get to the top of them. So I think it will be money well spent - just not yet, maybe a few weeks time.

Looks like being a nice day - better get organised, op shop this morning.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
When I got up this morning there was a very large dark grey cloud outside, but it had a bright blue ring underneath it. Wish Id taken a photo. Was like a dark burger bun on the blue filling lol. Now we have every colour sun and rain clouds too.
Was sitting reading last night rubbing my right hand, wondering why it was sore.. Realised this monring its cos I havent done any crochet for a while. So will get some wool out today. some for a purple and pink blanket and some for my trial run table runner. I dont normally have 2 projects on the go, but Im hoping to keep the purple blanket hidden from our House lady, cos Im making it for her. She didnt get here friday but said today.

Have fun everyone

Morning
Having a little break from my plumbing job - am in the middle of changing the toilet cistern. The old one is the original for the house so put in about 1971 it has been rather noisy for years which never bothered me but visitors would often comment then it started constantly dribbling and that really annoyed me so finally got a new one. Have removed old one and having a coffee before putting in the new one.
Gosh you did have a busy weekend Kuaka and one of the benefits of living alone you can take as long as you like to paint walls lol.

Grey is so fashionable at the moment Kiwimade - I have always liked it as a colour but nice when it is also an "in" colour.

My bootie pile is getting nice and big but it is using up the scraps of wool and a change from beanies. Also Im getting a bit of reading done when not having to think about what I'm knitting.

Morning all beautiful blue sky day but really chilly in the night
Popeye ten thousand thsnkyous for your genius idea re the birthday party - my mums birthday is 9th August - my sisters the 12th - so we will have a luncheon out at my brothers on the Saturday on my sisters burthday hopefully mum will come out will just be family which is a lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren and even a great great - my siblings and I will go have lunch with her on her birthday - she has always been a very low key private person so I guess it's her choice - if anybody asks her how old she is she quickly tells them you never ask a lady her age - I took some photos yesterday if her crochet tin will load them onto the computer and show you how good her eyes are - thank you Popeye for sharing your great idea
No excuse for not going for a walk today
Very proud of my grandchildren they used some of their spending money to bring back presents from Fiji for the boys over my fence - their idea made their parents proud as well

12383

Your most welcome Gerry, your Mum cant say no to that..

Ohh what fabulous grandchildren you have to think of the neighbours while on Holiday. I bet its the start of a long friendship between them.

Our house lady Erin has been and we got the curtain running smoothly. Just a bit of a buld up of cooking emissions as its close to the oven. Theyre very dark which is good.I didnt imagne them darker than what we had.
We were talking about blankets this morning and oops Ive come up with another design. Ill get it onto paper after I get off here so I dont forget. I like it when an idea pops into my head. And I dont imagine this one to be as hard as some Ive seen.

I need to get some more listing up. Its ages since I sold anything on here.

popeye333 - 2017-07-24 13:00:00
12384

Morning
That's a good idea Gerry, your mum probably will enjoy the party if sharing the attention with someone else.
Got the cistern changed and no leaks - although didn't really trust my plumbing skills and had a bucket and towels ready just in case! Mind you If I charged myself at regular plumbers rates I would be much richer today (or perhaps poorer) it took a while to do lol.

Started more socks i usually do them toe up so decided to do 2 at a time top down this time but had to check You Tube to relearn casting on.

jayemtoo - 2017-07-25 07:41:00
12385

morning ladies :) That's a really neat idea for your Mum's birthday Gerry, a good compromise.

hahaha well done jayemtoo, amazing what we can do if we put our minds to it. Our plumber charges around $60 an hour so I can only imagine what you saved.

I have bought the paint for the spare room and now waiting for help to move the cupboard so I can sand in behind. Can't wait to get started on it. I think it is a wise idea, kuaka, to pay someone to do the stairwell. It's not something I would tackle either.

I have eight roses to plant today for my sister who has arthritis so will get that done this morning. If it is fine I'll prune her other roses too but I doubt it will be fine enough. We have a thick pea souper of fog and it is supposed to rain.

Might pop into Spotlight today and have a look although I have an order semi done at Love Knitting.

Better get moving, will need my yoga lesson tonight!

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies,

It's overcast here but at least it's not raining (although the twerp on tv just said we will get more - I know it's not his fault but we don't need it). I was planning to go and visit my son tomorrow and come back Friday, but he tells me his 4 days off starts Saturday (but he says he's so tired after working 4 x 10 hour days straight that he usually sleeps most of the first day), so now I'm trying to decide whether to go as planned or go Friday and come back Sunday afternoon. Maybe by then my sister-in-law will be recovered enough for me to visit. She has been sick apparently. I will check the forecast then make a decision.

Anyway this morning I have washing and some sewing to do and I want to see if I can get a haircut then this afternoon mah jong.

It is now chucking it down with brilliant sunshine, the sky is black as the ace of spades and we have a beautiful rainbow.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
I dont know that I could tackle a toilet. Ive never seen one being put in, But I guess one could You tube it lol

We had a fair bit of rain last night.. I hope to get to our roses today.

Chose some colours for a blanket last night. For our House lady, for Christmas. A few years ago when I was going to CMA she brought two purple and pink cushions that I had made and put in the CMA sale. Ive been in her house and didnt see them in the lounge so I think they might be on her bed. So Ill do a blanket to sort of go with them. Not the same shade of colours.

Have to pop up and get the lawn mowing money this morning. So I better get moving.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2017-07-25 09:28:00
12388

morning ladies :) Had a very productive morning yesterday with dad's roses all pruned and eight more planted for my sister. After all the wallpaper stripping and sanding and then digging, I was ready for my yoga class last evening.

Today I hope to block my shawl/scarf and then spend some time weeding while the day is fine. Hopefully I can beat the weeds at seeding so there will be fewer over the summer. My sister suggested I put newspaper down and then mulch but I like the soil to be able to 'breathe' and I love all the insects that are there. They encourage the bird life and I think make for a healthy garden. If I did mulch, it would be without the paper underneath.

Nothing on the needles at present, I'll have to find something to knit. Am thinking of a throw for the 'new' bedroom but this will depend on the duvet when I find one. So will find something to knit to tide me over for now.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
A mixed bag weather wise

I finally got our roses pruned too Kiwimade, it did rain later in the day so I hope they will be ok. They got a drastic new hair style lol.

I started a blanket yesterday for the special project. but had to wind a 300 gram ball of wool on the winder. I always work from the middle of the ball and I simply couldnt find it and it looked a sheep with a stuck lamb. So had to wirk from the outside of the ball to wind it. Its done, so smooth saling now.
Have to take MrP to the drs this morning, as a follow up from the cardilogists appointment. Bit of a waste of money in a way, she just needs to see if his legs are loosing the water that had built up. And being the morning they are slimmer than what they are in the afternoon.

Will take my crochet with me.

Sitting there last night crocheting, 3 different brands of wool Ive not worked with and the hives came back.. But the Coloidal silver gel certainly takes the burning itch away quickly.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies,

I had planned originally to go to Auckland this morning to visit my son, come back Friday, but he works 4 days on/4 days off and is working through till Friday, so I decided I will go Friday and come back Sunday afternoon. He says he sleeps most of his first day off as he's so tired by the time he's done 4 x 10 hour days, but I won't come back till late Sunday afternoon so I will get to spend some time with him. And I'm pleased I changed it 'cos we have a real pea-souper this morning, although it should start to clear soon.

Hairdressers at 10 for a haircut, and then knit and natter. The cafe we usually meet at has closed down for two weeks for renovations, so one of the ladies offered to have it at her apartment, which is quite small, so we might end up sitting on the floor. I might offer to have it here next week.

Anyway, better have breakfast and get to the hairdresser.

Have a super day everyone.

Good Morning Ladies, Just had a few days away visiting family and friends in the Waikato. I had forgot how cold and wet it can get there.
Light frost here this morning and sun out. now. My SIL sorted out my shawl knitting for me and over locked some fabric.

Kuaka ,sounds like a great time was had by all at your Mid Year Christmas Dinner. We have a couple of rooms that need a freshening up as well. Take care and enjoy your trip to Auckland. Hope the weather is kind to you

Your colours sound great for the bedroom Kiwimade Yes, grey is the in colour at present..We painted our lounge just after moving in 2004 Grey walls and the board behind freestanding black fireplace Red Robin. Since have painted it twice.
Time I made a move and walk over to the gym. Missed while away.
Good hear everyone enjoying their knitting and stitching
Enjoy your day ladies.

Have a great day

Morning everyone
A bit windy out by the looks.

Had MrP to his drs app yesterday, all is ok, but she once again increased his fluid pills. Which means extra blood tests to make sure his potassium level doesnt drop.. So now we are on alternate weeks for tests lol. Its like visiting a family at the lab so thats good .

Did a little crochet while waiting at the med centre, but didnt get any done last night. Was terribly tired for some reason. So we had an early night and I finished my book.

Hope everyone has a Fab day

morning ladies :) Housework done except for vacumming and washing the kitchen floor and a load of washing out seeing as it is breezy and sunny out there. Yes, sunflowers, it's cold and damp in the Waikato, it's the damp I think that gets you.

Spring must be round the corner as there are all sorts of bulbs popping up and my hyacinths even have flowers forming.

Spent yesterday afternoon with our daughter and grandkids, was lovely to see them.

My plan today is to block the shawl/scarf so it will be finished completely. And after lunch I will paint the stuff onto the varnish so it can cure over a few days and the paint will stick. I found a yellow duvet but it's in the States and will cost the same price as the duvet in postage. Mind you it is lovely and it's the only one we can agree on. I didn't think finding a yellow plain-but-not-quite-so-plain duvet would be that hard.

I've found the wool I want for the throw but it's the wrong grey lol, just can't win sometimes.

Anyhoo better get moving.

Happy knitting :)

Last time we did our bedroom we had the duvet and pillow covers made by the company that I got my curtains from. They had a very good range of fabrics to choose from.So I would ask around.

Morning ladies - just - didn't sleep well again last night, slept for a while, awake from 2.30 to 5 and then dozed off till 8.30. Just as well I don't have to get up and go to work.

What started off as a lovely sunny day is now overcast, windy and showery, but the showers are supposed to get heavier.

I've just put clean sheets on the bed and done the washing, now I will go and finish a couple of little sewing jobs, and do the ironing, then this afternoon I want to nip into town to check the mail and get some cash, and finish packing my bag for tomorrow, and sort out what other things I need to take with me. Hope the weather is going to be okay tomorrow, I don't like driving in wind and rain, one or the other is okay, not both together.

Right, get cracking or it'll never get done.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Yes sunflowers, I was beginning to think along those lines as our curtain maker has cushions and duvets made too. Just didn't think it would be so hard to find what I wanted.

Our builder called in yesterday to quote on finishing the porch we had semi built two years ago. MrK has decided it is a tad beyond his skill set to finish it as he had planned to do. So that will be finished next week sometime. MrK will be the 'labourer' as he like to see how things are done. He has a door tucked away in his timber stash (had it for 20 years!) so we are using that. It's a perfect match for our back door, you would think they had been purchased together.

I painted the stuff onto the varnished doors in the bedroom yesterday so they will be ready for painting in a day or two. And while the builder was here MrK asked about the floor to ceiling bookcase he's building and anchoring it the walls so he's also busy sorting out the timber needed for that. I'm lucky when I have these lightbulb moments MrK is able to put my ideas into place.

Better get moving, I want to go into town today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning Ladies. Wind blowing here this morning. Just picked up 20+ oranges off the ground.Have a good crop been eating, drinking fresh orange juice. Have 3 ice cream containers of cut up fruit in the freezer.Going to cook up a batch Orange Honey this morning.
Knitted 5 dishcloths during the week so slowly getting back into knitting.
Enjoy your few days in Auckland Kuaku. Hope it's fine for you.
Good to hear you doing some crocheting Popeye. Did you check out Attic24 and see how she arranges her colours for her rugs.

Had a phone call from Cuz last night. Good to catch up with what happen. He is planning to to come down with his tools and do a few of building bites and pieces for me.That take the pressure off me getting someone down here.
Time to move, dishes to wash and a food shop before haircut after lunch.
Have a great day and take care.

Morning
Great about the door Kiwimade, They say if you keep something long enough you will find a use for it - the trouble often is finding room for all the stuff I would like to keep!
Enjoy the time with your son Kuaka. I made some lemon honey a few days ago but haven't tried orange honey as yet Sunflower, the Bay View oranges are really nice at the moment.
Persevering with the most frustrating pair of socks, not sure why as I've knitted many socks but these ones are being very annoying as I've dropped numerous stitches and made silly mistakes and I'm only starting on the heel grrrr.
Ok time to get vacuum cleaner going before heading to Hastings.
Enjoy your day Everyone

Morning - yes it is a blustery grey old day here - no dog park thats for sure - good day for starting to sew all the ends in on the blanket - next one I promise myself I will do as I go -
safe travelling Kuaka - I haven't ventured off on my own yet
Mr G was a great handyman kiwimade - when I look around and see all the things he made he was a clever bloke for sure - I remember back in my cloth doll making days I wanted some short fat Knitting needles for a doll I was making - he spent hours turning a pair of thick plastic needles into about 2 inches of short perfectly pointed needles - good days
