I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

morning ladies :) I haven't written a cheque for years and I know our kids have never ever had too. Would be funny to see them try.

Good luck for your trip jayemtoo, I hope the crossing is good.

Today I am raiding a friend's grapefruit tree so I can squeeze them for juice. I have the old fashioned juicer with the lever handle and it really does the trick.

I am hoping for some fine weather so I can strip our bed and hang washing outside.

Knitting is definitely on the agenda for today!

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
Fine here which is nice. Managed to get the rubbish out and the paper in at 6am without getting wet.
Have fun on your trip Jayemtoo. I havent had a "GirlY' Trip or weekend for many years.
Taking MrP to his Superclinic appointment this afternoon. And visiting the fruit shop on the way. They have very cheap fruit and good quality too. They have a weekend list of specials, I asked them last night on FB if the prices were the same today, and they told me to show them the post they put and I could have the same prices. I especially want the bags of pears for $1. Im quite partial to bottles pears. So I took a photo of the post and will show them my licence and that should work.

My second piece of my poncho is growing, I will take it with me today.

Have a fab day everyone

Had to smile, after posting earlier I hadn't seen a cheque for years, MrK was given a cheque as payment for a e reader stand he made lol. Will go into town today and cash it for him.

Lol Kiwimade.

I have a chequebook, and the last cheque was no doubt for our St Johns subscription, years ago before we got our alarm, and that was 5 years ago last week.

Good afternoon - cleared nicely so had a good long walk to make up for yesterday's inactivity - one very different dog today
Your scarf experience reminded me Kuaka about one blimmin awful woman years ago - I was making Hollie Hobby dolls for a local craft shop - it was 30 years ago when it was hard to source a variety of materials in a small city - this woman came with a piece of dusky pink furnishing material with a story about a very sick girl - so I dyed fabric dusty pink by mixing dyes - I did laces of varying depth of her colour - spent hours and hours - it was beautiful - beggar me she wouldn't pay me - said it wasn't as she imagined - it was the same as the ones she had seen but in the colour she wanted - sold it the next day but I was bewildered to say the least
I am steaming ahead with the blanket - next row is 600 double crochet so will find something on Netflix

Afternoon ladies, busy morning at the op shop, dashed home and had a coffee and a quick bite to eat, and then a friend called round to do a home handyman job for me, which entailed us going to the builders merchants for materials and then home again. He had forgotten his gib-saw but I had one in the workshop (think he was a bit surprised that I knew what it was and actually had one!). Anyway long story short, I now have a nice "man-hole" or trap-door in the ceiling instead of a hole in the ceiling where Mr K once had a look with his finger!

So now I shall relax for an hour and then go to the club in the hope of having a game of snooker.

Should be able to do some knitting tonight.

Just thinking about cheques, when I first left school and started my first job, I opened a cheque account at Lloyds Bank and every 3 months I used to receive in the mail a stack of cheques - they used to return all the cheques you had written. Looking back I wonder why they did that???

Have a relaxing evening everyone and safe travels jayemtoo.

Morning from Nelson.
We drove from Napier Sunday pm and had a great evening with 3 nieces and families, they had prepared a beautiful roast meal for us.
Had a great trip over on the inter islander yesterday. We had seats at a table at the front windows and it was very calm and perfect weather. Coming down the sounds was so beautiful.
We had lunch in Blenheim in the little park just over the rad from where we used to live as children. Then many memories as we drove to Nelson which took about half the time we remembered!

Sunday evening I was casting on socks so would have something to knit on the boat and managed to break my needle. So no knitting I tried in Blenheim but little wool shop had no interchangeable needles or even the right size circulars. So we had to go for a walk once here and found a lovely wool shop so I'm happy again.

Enjoy your day.

morning ladies :) Breaking the needle was the perfect 'excuse' for an explore around Nelson jayemtoo. Good you were able to fine a replacement.
The ferry crossing is beautiful on a good day but on a bad day....eeekk!

I have no idea why your cheques would be returned after three months kuaka, they never did it here in NZ. I always assumed they were kept for a certain length of time then destroyed.

I have a mammogram booked in for today so it must be two years since my last one. Doesn't feel like it.

The shawl I am knitting is coming along nicely, pretty simple once I got into the groove. I went back to knitting it in the lambs/silk mix I bought from Love Knitting and I think it looks much prettier with a colourway rather than one block of colour. So finally found something to knit this wool into.

I was in Tirau the other day and there is a Merino wool shop there (in the 'dog' building. All sorts of clothing but some merino/possum mix hanks and some mohair. Only ten minutes or so from home, I don't know if that's a good thing or not lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Sounds like yoour having a lovely time Jayemtoo.. Funny how distances seem much shorter when older, and even shorter when you leave.

Kiwimade the guy that designed the Dog and Sheep was on Country Calendar a few weeks ago.. MrP always reckons that the "Shepherd" out front was Osama Bin Laden, when he was in hiding lol.

Yesterday went well, no tantrums. MrP was seen by the dr, had a blood test and a chest xray and left about 10 minutes after the time that his appointment was meant to start. They were really on the ball. I got to see the metal part of his heart valve on the xray before it was sent away too which was cool.

Got a banana box full of fruit and veges, so will be freezing carrots today. Ands Bottling pears tomorrow. They are firm so I wont need to do them urgently.
My crochet went for a ride lol

Best get cracking I have some recipes to type up before I go up the street.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies,

I really didn't want to get up this morning, I could feel it was colder than it has been for a while, but it is a stunningly beautiful day (pity my house doesn't get the sun in winter - but I'm admiring my view!)

Oh kiwimade a wool shop 10 minutes away - sounds like a dangerous situation to be in. I see Skeinz are doing free shipping on all orders (normally only orders over $50) you have to use the code "coldsnap" to get free shipping and apparently the discount comes off the wool purchase rather than off the "shipping". Don't think I'll take advantage seeing as I have a huge amount from the yarn lotto and my step-daughter is supposed to be sending me quite a lot of "left-overs".

Was going to make some lemon curd using my gran's recipe. I know it's not cheap to make but it says 8 eggs and I see I only have 9, so I think I'll leave it till I've been shopping. I suppose I could make half the quantity but it is yummy, so I usually make the full amount.

I want to dismantle the bed in the little bedroom and move it out and take the curtains down so I can start sanding the ceiling and walls ready for painting. Really looking forward to it - NOT - but I need to get stuck in and do it.

Have a super day everyone. Drive carefully jayemtoo.

Kuaka I have a recipe for lemon honey that doesnt require eggs.. And very simple. Holler if you would like it.

We have a beautiful day here now.

Have postponed the cooking until tomorrow MrP is quite worn out from yesterday

Have done a few rows of crochet.

mammogram done and dusted (phew). I saw that episode of Country Calendar popeye. There has been a lot of local stuff shown lately, there was the lady from Waharoa who made the icecream too.

It is still foggy here, the first time all winter the fog has lasted until after lunch. Definitely feels like winter has kicked in.

I suppose the only thing to do is to knit lol.

morning ladies :) The fog cleared around 1.30pm yesterday and we had a sunny afternoon. Today though it's wet but I still want to plant these two roses. Should have done it yesterday afternoon but I hadn't knitted for days so sat and knitted a few rows.

I'm having my hair cut today at a different salon. First time in over 20 years someone new is cutting my hair but time for a change. Just not happy with the service from my old salon.

I bought a pumpkin for $2 yesterday so might make some pumpkin soup today. Think there is a ham hock in the freezer I can add to it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Sometimes a change is a good thing Kiwimade. Ive only had one decent trim in 6 years. Waiting for my SIL to come up later in the year. Hopefully lol.
We didnt get any fruit done yesterday, only what we ate and Ohhh the two huge tree tomatoes I had were lovely. So freezing the carrots this morning, and maybe the pears will get done. It will depend on time and pain.

Im halfway on the second piece of the poncho, so thats going good for now.

Morning - well the gauge says 7 deg and the forecasted top temp is 8 so even though my sill dog is out sitting on his daybed outside trying to convince me it's ok no walk today would tickle up my asthma
When I finished uni donkeys years ago my first job was at Holts which became Carter Holt - The other trainee accountant who was male and I had to collect from the bank on this trolley thing all the cheques - can remember dying of embarassement as we wheeled this squeaking trolley up the Main Street of Napier and thinking did I go to uni to do this - then we had to catalogue each bundle - they were held in case there was a court case for evidence - had forgotten all about it until cheques came up on here - of course computers take care of all that evidence now
My next row of the blanket is 679 single crochet - but it all adds to the overall texture I suppose - one thing is for sure even though I prefer wool am pleased I have used acrylic as wool would be just far too heavy for Paige
I bought the yarn when it was on special cost me just over $60 for each one and it doesn't look as though I am going to be short
It's getting worse by the minute out there heat pump day today that's for sure

Afternoon ladies, just home from knit and natter. Hadn't been there long when we had an absolute downpour, rain like I haven't seen in ages, then suddenly it stopped and now the sun is shining again. The wind is quite gusty and it is cold - what my old mother in law would call a "lazy wind" - tries to blow through you rather than round you.

Well that silly woman still hasn't given me her bank account details, think I'll leave it till the end of the week, and then send a cheque.

If the rain stays away I just might go for a walk this afternoon - I noticed as I came home the temp along the waterfront is 16 so not too bad.

Or I could do the curtains for the window at the bottom of the stairs, or I could sit and knit or even do some housework - not likely!

Whatever you do, have a super day.

morning ladies, a good frost here but overcast. Just love, love, love my new haircut. MrK said it was very chic lol. Have gone from long to short so a real change for me.

I spent some time out in the garden yesterday and finally planted the two roses. Managed to prune some too so now I need to put some wire strainers up to train the canes. I planted the white one in a corner so it can fill it in. Should look pretty good over the summers to come.

I unpicked (sigh lol) my shawl about 20 odd rows as I tried to fix a mistake without unpicking and the more I looked at it the more it bugged me. Didn't take long to 'catch up' as it is knitted from corner to corner so still quite narrow. Better to do it now that later when there has been more knitting done.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I have to get cracking soon as I have to take the car for a WOF - hope it passes, although I think it is close to needing a set of new tyres - dentist appointment tomorrow, so an expensive couple of days. If the car doesn't pass it WOF I'll have to cancel the dentist as it's in Kaikohe and that's a bit far to walk!

Cold here this morning but looking like a lovely day. Plan to make a start on preparing the little bedroom for painting when I get back later this morning. Still can't decide what colour to paint it, decide on one then change my mind only to go round in a circle and come back to it. Want to get the paint tomorrow so will have to make a decision soon.

Oh dear kiwimade, what a pain, but it's better undone and fixed properly otherwise you'll never be happy with it and then won't wear it and it becomes a total waste of money and energy.

Have a super day.

Morning everyone

Kuaka if the car fails you have 30 days to get it repaired, so can use it in that time.

Glad you love your hair Kiwimade.. My hair is soo fine its terrible for short hair.

Got the carrots and pearrs done. and 2 fingers and a thumb also got cooked. I was moving the pear pot and sort of wobbled and got 2 fingers on my left hand and my thumb on the right.
So the dishes are still there. And Im not going near the hot water lol.. MrP assures me he will make a start while Im doing the shopping. Im getting clumsy, and its annoying.

Its blowing a freezing gale out there. Not looking forward to going out in it. But at least I can wrap up warm.

Yippee - the car got it's WOF and he checked the tyres in particular because I mentioned them, and he said they're okay for another 5 to 6 thousand km and seeing as I did approx 5000 in the last 12 months, I don't have to worry about them for a while yet, so that's good. I won't let them get too "thin" though.

And I just checked the mail and I have finally got the last squishy package from the yarn lotto, so everyone has sent the goods, which is good to know, even if this last one is a month late!

Hi Everyone Will it been blowing a gale here again this morning now the sun out
.All roads across the country from here closed overnight and this morning, if we wanted or needed to get out, we would have had to head south and go on up the other side of the island..
Haven't look again at the road reports as we are staying put.
Newsletter from Palmer's this morning showing 20% roses. I'm still waiting for my rose order.
Glad I'm not the only one pulling out knitting. Will look at it again this afternoon. Hope you can get some knitting in today Kiwimade.

Good news re your WOF Kuaku. Thinking of you as you head off to the dentist in the morning.err.
Good buys at your local veggie shop Popeye. Stay if you need to go out today.
Have to go out to do a top up today. Cooked Pea and Ham soup with a Bacon Bone yesterday so that keep Mr S happy.
I'm off to have lunch now the wood box is full again and fire going.
Happy Knitting/sewing everyone. Stay warm!

Glad you got the Warrant Kuaka.. The most fearfull time I reckon lol..

One of the ladies from the post shop was luaghing as she came out of NW this morning as I was going in. She said Ive never seen you wrapped up so well lol.. The wind is freezing out there. Managed to get there and back without getting wet too thank goodness.

Was quite chuffed too, I had a skirt I'd sewn, the jacket and wrist warmers (matching) that I had knitted and a hat that Whiskey13 knitted for my birthday.

Havent put the car in the garage yet, but other than that I dont intend on going out again.

Bagging up frozen carrots isnt too nice in the winter either hahaha..

Will be crocheting later

12323

morning ladies :) Always a good feeling when your car passes its WOF isn't it. MrK did an oil change on ours the other day so that's done and dusted.

Housework to attack this morning and then maybe some knitting. If the weather clears up I can do some more pruning, I noticed lots of new growth already on the roses so it needs to be done pretty quickly now.

Am almost halfway with my knitting, I'm thinking of making the shawl/scarf a tad longer than the pattern suggests as the wool I am using is finger weight so doesn't quite have the length.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Still very windy here, so I imagine its cold out there again.

I have a couple of things to do up the street, that I didnt get to yesterday. So will probably need thawing out when I get home.

The kitchen dining room etc are now back to normal so Ill be able to sit and crochet later. I wont be putting fringes on the poncho, cos A they would just be a nuisance and be its a waste of wool in my opinion lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, dentist and shopping this morning so going to be expensive, groceries mainly but I also want paint for the spare bedroom,, a doorbell and some veg plants. I have finally chosen a colour for the paint and if I decide after I've done it that I don't really like it, too bad, and any left-over I can use for the insides of the wardrobes or pantries.

Right I need to get a wriggle on, want to be gone from here just after 10 and I'm not showered yet.

I will take my knitting in case the dentist is running late.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all it's still raining but a little bit warmer - up to 11 deg which is a bit better than yesterday - but no dog park again - one very sad dog
I was supposed to go to Fiji yesterday with my son and family but changed my mind thank goodness I did they had a horrendous day yesterday flying into and out of Wellington - I hate flying so that would have tipped me right over the edge
Hope Jayemtoo is OK - might be a day or two before the ferry will be a pleasant experience and all roads into Napier are closed at the moment
I finished my boring dc and sc rows and the next row is a combination of trebles and single crochet I have done it 3 times and have had to unpick it - very frustrating

Morning
Had a wonderful time away. Saw a lot of the old places we knew as children in Nelson and Blenheim. Even allowed a look around our home in Blenheim which is now Lawyer offices. And visited Okiwi Bay where we spent some holidays.
Caught up with our last surviving Aunt and an elderly cousin. Somethings were surprisingly much the same as we remembered them from about 50 yrs ago On the whole the weather was good no rain or snow, cold but we rugged up well.

Came back yesterday, the morning sailing was cancelled but pm one went, the ship was well loaded but we were pleasantly surprised it wasn't too rough at all we seemed to cut through the swells rather than go over them. Did have about an hour turning circles in the middle of the harbour waiting for a berth and although we had been the first car onto the ferry with so many cars, trucks etc to get off again we had a bit of a wait. Came straight home getting in about 1am.
Sister will head back to Hamilton later today so has missed the closed Napier-Taupo road.
Didn't get a lot of knitting done, was a bit annoyed as I had left it in the car by mistake as could have done quite a lot on the ferry.

Keep warm everyone

morning ladies :) Sounds like you timed your travels well jayemtoo and had a lovely time.

It's a beautiful day here, fine, frosty and no wind. I'll put the slow cooker on for dinner and get the washing done then go outside. The frost should have lifted by then.

According to my shaw/scarf pattern, I am at the halfway point but as the wool I am knitting is so fine I'll keep going for a bit. I just have to make sure I have enough wool to finish so will be a fine line! I've weighed the wool and know roughly where half of it is. The pattern is very clear and tells you how to adjust sizing.

Time to move. Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, good that you are home safely jayemtoo and that the crossing wasn't too rough. Pity about the knitting. Would have been frustrating.

I took my knitting with me to the dentists yesterday but I always seem to underestimate how long it takes me to get to Kaikohe (think it's a bit further than Kerikeri) so I had no sooner pulled my knitting out of my bag and I was called in. Last time I managed to do 4 stitches before I was called in.

$228 for 4 x-rays and a clean. Have to go back for a filling, have been quoted $300 and something for that, and have been referred to a specialist in Whangarei for my dodgy tooth - this is one that the previous 3 dentists have refused to touch. The dentist yesterday said they will probably remove the filling with a laser and then put a crown on it - sounds mightily expensive. We'll see.

Went to the Warehouse and spent $95 on some sportsgear tops for when I go walking, they were on special at $20 each and a pair of shorter trousers for the summer, reduced to $15 and some other bits and pieces, daffs, broccoli plants, no more gaps etc, then to Resene where I bought ceiling paint and paint for the walls, a couple of brushes and some sandpaper, $200, and then to New World where I did a big shop and spent $195. Filled up with petrol $60 and came home thinking to myself "don't go near the shops again till next month at the earliest"

So this morning I plan to finish emptying the little bedroom and start sanding the ceiling. If I can get that done and still feel okay, I'll start doing the walls too. Then this afternoon if I have any energy left I will make the lemon curd before I find the lemons have died.

Looks like being a beautiful day but it is windy and I suspect not very warm out, so I think I will stay in today - or maybe go for a walk this afternoon if one of the neighbours is keen.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,

Glad you had a lovely holiday Jayemtoo... I would love to catch up with cousins. Have all drifted apart once our grandparents died.

That was an expensive day Kuaka...

Tis a beautiful day out there. Not as much wind as yesterday. They would be the two coldest days we have had here in 13 years. And for me to say its cold, Its cold lol.

I got alot of crochet done yesterday. And being that Im rather sore today, I will get alot more done today. I slept on the same side all night.. And am really paying for it .. Was nice and snuggly warm and didnt move lol.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2017-07-15 09:44:00
12331

morning ladies :) $300 odd for a filling seems to be about the norm these days kuaka but that laser thingy sounds like mortgage material!

It's frosty here this morning, a real doozy too. We are supposed to have another day like yesterday but it doesn't look like it so far this morning.

My roses are all 'done', the wire strainer is up and I've tied the climbers too it. Fingers crossed I have a good display of flowers to cover a big blank fence. All the pruning is done although I wasn't quite as brutal as last year. There's new growth on them already. And I moved some hallebores too, if anyone wants some hellebore seedlings let me know.

I've extended my shawl by three repeats and it looks better for it I think. I may have enough yarn to fiddle round with another repeat before I start decreasing. It's going to be a game of yarn chicken towards the end I suspect.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
No frost here and a mixed sky. quite cool tho.

MrP fancies going out somewhere. Id rather stay home and get my poncho finished.. Mean of me I know, but its cold out there lol
I only have one side of ends to sew in and then to join the two pieces together. I havent had a handmade poncho since I was a kid, but I just thought it would be another layer to keep warm.

How do you decide what branches of the roses to keep for climbing roses Kiwimade? we have one but its just a tall scraggly mess really. I dont think it was put in the right place. But the landlord put it there so its stuck lol.

Have a fab day all

Good Morning ladies, Cold and a slow start this morning. Still white on the roofs and ground.Sun is out again today.

Planning to clean up the driveway as moss is starting to take over and the front door steps need a good clean after all the rain last week.

We have a new house been built in our street the guys started work in the rain at 7.30 am and where off site by 12 as they where working on the framing They will be glad when it closed in..Been built in front of another house leaving the back house with no lookout and very small section.

Will get my climbing rose done today and if the ground not to wet will start working the soil for a spring/summer veggie garden .
Our Lawnmower/garden guy called in yesterday and is coming to cut the lawns today if it's dry. Going to do some other job for us as well

No knitting at present, been working on my postcard exchange with my Book Art Group. Have received some lovely ones.

Good hear your shawl is working out for you Kiwimade. Fingers crossed some knitting tonight for me.
Mr S now up for the day after an unbroken night. Fingers crossed may we have many more.
Have a Happy Day Everyone.

cuppa time, so much for our sunny day, it has clouded over.

I take the new canes popeye as they are easy to bend and bend them in the direction they are growing. Some I could ease right down to the bottom 'rung' as they were quite flexible. If the canes are growing outwards towards you, cut them off. Work with each cane and see where they can be stretched out. Sounds like your rose needs a good prune and maybe start again with young canes.

I've prepared some grapefruit for marmalade, the rind has to soak for a while so that will give me time to round up some jars and wash them. MrK has taken over the kitchen and is making brawn (yuck! but he loves it).

kiwimade64 - 2017-07-16 10:59:00
12335

Thanks Kiwimade, ill have to get out there. Before its too late lol.. Not that I feel inclined to lol.

Finally have the poncho pinned together. I can make the pattern out of paper but it took me ages to figure it out in the crochet lol. I dont know why . But Im glad I added to the length, but also glad I didnt add too much. Cos I didnt want a large open neck that Id have to put in with a cord. So I seemed to have fluked that. Will crochet together after lunch.

I dont like brawn either Kiwimade, but I do make it for MrP when he fancies some.

Right time for a play and then back to my poncho.

popeye333 - 2017-07-16 12:48:00
12336

Afternoon ladies, had hoped to get the ceiling painted today, but by the time I'd finished sanding the walls and cleaned up all the mess I decided I had done enough. I could have gone for a walk with my usual walking buddies but said no as I wanted to do the painting. Anyhow now it's all prepared, I can do it tomorrow when I get home from the op shop if I feel like it.

The house is a shambles but I can't see it being tidy in the foreseeable future, at least not until I've finished the spare bedroom.

I finally made the lemon curd yesterday afternoon but it tasted very sweet so I've added more lemon juice and grated lemon rind, the lemons didn't seem quite as sharp as they sometimes are.

Now I think I shall go and dig over a patch of garden, fertilise it and plant my broccoli seedlings then I will have earned some "me time" and put my feet up and do some knitting.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Edited to add: I've never tried brawn, never made it, never fancied it. Looks revolting and that's enough to put me off.

I have finished my poncho, I wont say Im 100% happy with it. Cos it doesnt sit how I thought it would. But the neck size is perfect and I can roll it over like a collar. but as its onlt for home , it wont matter. Missy was certainly snuggled under it this afternoon.

morning ladies :) Hope you are feeling better today popeye. Well done on the poncho, now you have done one you know where to tweak it for the next time.

I break painting down too kuaka, stripping and sanding one day, white work the next and so on. I find if I have a plan I'll work towards it and not muck around.

I've started the decrease in the shawl but I still wonder about the length. Oh well, it is what it is.

Looks like rain later today so a good excuse to knit.

Happy knitting.

Morning everyone

Yep feel back to normal today, thank godness.

MrP is having a sleep in, so its nice and quiet here. I dont bother to put the tv on unless there is something I want to watch.. I know if it was just me, I probably wouldnt bother having one, if the one we had broke down. Id be able to watch what I like online.

My plan is to get into the craft room this morning. I want to get a couple of things out of the wardrobe before I put the crates back in front of the door. And Im hoping I might get inspired to start something else.

Have to keep an eye/ear on the door too cos last week I won a bag of Cat litter for Missy and it possibly will arrive today. Trouble being that the craft room is at the back of the house.

Have a fab day all

Afternoon ladies, a busy morning at the op shop and then I came home, had a quick bite to eat and then put a coat of paint on the ceiling - it is going to need a second coat, but already is looking better. Don't know that it will get done tomorrow - see how my shoulders and arms feel.

Going to sit and have a cup of tea and do a couple of rows of knitting then go to the club and try to play snooker.

Leftovers for tea, so that will be quick and easy.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Morning
Typed in a longish post yesterday just about finished and the power went off. Then didn't get back here, so hopefully better luck today.
It's misty fog at moment
Poncho looks nice and warm Popeye, I have an old cardy I love as an extra layer at home but it is getting rather disreputable so I can only wear it when alone.
Socks growing again onto the ribbed tops now and then will do the next pair.

morning ladies :) Ooohh I remember that ache in the arms and shoulders from rolling paint onto ceilings lol. Have that to look forward to next month but this time I can stretch it out with yoga exercises.

I lengthened the shawl/scarf last evening so now will see how I go yarn wise. It shouldn't take too long to finish as I'm on the decreasing end now.

Happy knitting :)

Good Morning Everyone. Heavy Fog this morning ,just make out the outline of the house across the road. In two minds if I will go to K'n'N this morning or just go out this afternoon.

A group of ladies who make Baby Quilts has an annual fundraiser to buy the fabric. The aim is every newborn in NZ is give a quilt. 'Quilt 4 Life" It the final of the of the series of 'Home Front'. It's based on life during and after the second World War in an village in England.

Mr S is enjoying a sleep in as we have an early start Wed morning. He has a 8.30 am appointment at the hospital. Hoping to hear that they will do the op on this spine. Fingers crossed.

My shawl is an nonevent at present. Knitted 2 pairs of slippers and 4 dishcloths in the last 7/.8 days.
Good on you Kiwimade getting as far as you have with your shawl.
Your Poncho will keep you warm. See a lot wearing them around here.
Need to make a move and do some jobs inside. Sun is just coming out of the fog.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Slightly overcast but its not cold.

I got my mess tidied up in the craft room, but it also involved doing my room as well. I got a plastic crate into my wardrobe, and the two smaller one under my bed and one under my dressing table.
Found the extra curtain fabric, but its not enough to do the window. Im sure I have them cut, but they must be put away too well. So I might add some of the curtain material to some Calico, cos it will look nice together. But I will make a spare set too and put them away (not so well hidden) then if we ever move Ill leave the new ones here.

Going to check out the two oppies this morning, need a couple of things at the supermarket, but I also want to get MrP out of the house. Its a week since he went out.

Have a lovely day everyone

Yay, we were meant to go to the opp shops.

Got a roll of curtain Fabric, in autumn tones. It has heaps on it, for $20. It doesnt match but you dont actually see it unless your in the dining room or kitchen.
It looks like it was meant to be thermal drape but its not. It doesnt have the backing stuff on it..
But I will still make two sets.

Hospital just called, they have booked MrPs echo appointment for Saturday, which is unusual but I know they are flat out there.. So nice and fast, and Id already booked his GP Visit for next Wednesday so its all clicking in together

Think they are trying to make the most of the equipment these days Popeye. A wee while ago BiL had a scan on Sunday morning, we thought they had mixed up the days but no it was correct.

Wow thats even weirder Jayemtoo.. Just very pleased its all happening so quickly.
Found out tonight that MrP's brother is to have an Angioplasty, where they will open up his just about completley blocked artery to his heart. yes this is in the Healthy eating side of the family.. His wife had a double bypass and new valve. But it will happen in the next two months. I would have thought they would do it asap as its the largest arftery to the heart.

At least it means Ill be able to get fruit again, at the shop that is really cheap, cos their specials are on the weekends.

morning ladies :) That's good news about MrP, Popeye. I suppose we should get used to having tests and what not over the weekend, it makes sense to use the equipment this way.

The rescue helicopter flew over last night around 9.00pm and them back again around 1.00am so there must have been something major happening in the district.

We have an appointment with the lady who makes curtains tomorrow morning to choose the fabric so from there we can choose the paint for the walls and start gathering all the bits and pieces I'll need to paint the bedroom. I have most of the stuff, just need 'consumables' like sandpaper and rollers. The varnish on doors and skirting boards are slowly going :)

Looks like an 'inside' day today so perfect for knitting.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies,

Looks like a reasonable sort of day out there. I slept quite well last night but I woke at one stage - didn't check the time - and thought "oh no, it's my son's birthday today and I haven't got him anything" - then I remembered that it's July and his birthday is in March - good grief.

Better get myself organised for knit and natter, then when I come home I hope to get the second coat on the ceiling, and I will need to have a bit of a tidy up as I have friends/neighbours coming for a mid-winter Christmas get-together committee meeting to finalise what we are going to do on Saturday.

Have a super day everyone.
