Ha popeye, yes he used a torch sometimes - he would use it and put it down then not remember where he'd put it so next time he wanted it (in the dark of course) he couldn't find it.

Popeye, I am told that dental floss is a very strong thread, in case there is trouble getting fishing line. Gerry, how nice to be able to give help direct and good on your son and his family.

Morning (just)

Interesting morning at Mainly Music we had a "wheels" day, sang songs about vehicles - as well some others. The children were invited to bring a set of wheels either indoor or outdoor ones to play with so after morning tea there was a lot of pushing toy cars etc around the floor and those who had brought trikes, scooters etc had fun riding them up and down the ramps to the door (well supervised of course). Meanwhile we were having 'fun' in the kitchen when one lady managed to tip a full jug of milk all over the bench and onto the carpet. Hope we managed to clean it up enough and wash off the carpet - will be able to tell in a few days if it starts to smell. I then dropped the container of biscuits but broken biscuit and crumbs were a lot easier to clean up.

Just washed all the towels etc we used to mop up the milk so better get them out so can get a bit of drying.

Lovely that the boys are able to share their outgrown things Gerry. There is too much waste these days and I am sure quite a few people would be better off if they just learnt how to mend, reuse or adapt things. Unfortunately it seems that these skills have missed a generation or two.

Lol Kuaka, thats a man thing lol

Yes Marywea I knew that dental floss was strong, they use it for alot of things. But neither of us have our own teeth so its not something we keep in the house.

Have sown the pull with fishing nylon, a flouresant green lol. Stands out against the black webbing .. but MrP finds it very easy to get up off the bed now.. And it saves me steadying him and pulling muscles etc.

The lawn boys have been and they very kindly picked up the weeds and put the bin on the concrete for us. I hope its not as heavy as last weeks cos MrP really struggled wheeling it on the wet grass.

Tis sunny now of course lol.. Very windy tho

we use dental floss when fishing to hold the bait onto the line sometimes.

I had to laugh kuaka, when I read your post. But if you are paying a minimum time for the sparky then you might as well use that time. Good on him for asking if there was anything else.

Time for lunch then knitting.

yes kiwimade, I'm pretty sure the electrical outfit has a minimum charge of 30 minutes, and the initial job literally took him 5 minutes, so I decided he might as well do the other jobs even though I hadn't really thought about them till he was here. I'm really pleased with the two way switch on the stairs, it used to drive me nuts. If I went out in daylight and came home in the dark, I would have to come up the stairs in the dark unless I'd remembered to put the light on and turn it off downstairs when I went out in daylight.

morning ladies :) The Field Days traffic has been streaming by since 6.00am and typical for Field days, it's been raining wit more to come.

I'm in the classroom today with the littlies so should be a fun day.

Happy knitting.

Morning ladies, cool this morning and rain forecast (yes kiwimade, I remember going to the Fieldays years ago, and the weather was just miserable).

Knit and natter this morning but first I have an appointment with the nurse for my 'flu jab. I've delayed it this year in the hope that I can get through August without getting sick - I usually manage to get sick around my birthday.

Received two more squishy packages yesterday - so far I've received 12 with 7 more still to come. It really is building up to be quite a nice haul.

I should be posting two parcels today - one lady bought two items from me separately, and has paid for the first but not the second. I was going to send them both together to save her some postage but unless the money shows up later this morning I will only send the first one. If she doesn't pay the full postage on the second one I will be subsidising the shipping but that's better than sending the second item and not getting paid for it at all. The other lady has paid but hasn't sent me her address.

A third lady asked me 3 weeks ago to knit a scarf which I have done and I messaged her, said it was ready and sent a pic and I've not heard from her again. Grrr!

Right, breakfast time.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone

Shes wild and windy out there.. Glad I dont have to go out in it. But I hope all the drivers stay safe and drive to the conditions.

Not sure if it was on the news last night, but we had some idiot lose control of his car and ended up hitting to kids on the footpath. They both went to hospital , one was released unsure about the other. 8 and 10 years old. They got the driver so thats good.

Still no crochet etc for me.. I might cut my skirt out today tho and perhaps even sew.

We have a two way stitch in the hall way, we never use it from the garage end tho. Still I guess if we went out we could. But we also have a screw driver through the side of the garage door for extra security so we have to come indoors to open it.
We had the lights between the kitchen sink and dining room flashing and it turned out to be a nail going through the wiring... Sooo lucky it had never caused a fire.

Stay safe out there everyone

Have a fab day

Morning all - very blustery here but was supposed to be raining so am not complaining
One year we went to fieldays we had to park somewhere and get a bus - but what they didn't tell us the buses back out stopped early afternoon and we ended up having to walk back to our car
Whoever designed the wiring layout did a really good job in this house - there are double switches everywhere - I can turn on my bedroom light from the kitchen or even from the internal garage - now I am here on my own coming home at night I appreciate it
Is it too late kiwimade to feed my freesias in a pot - MrG planted them for me last year they are well and truly up
It is so annoying Kuaka when you sell bits and pieces and instead of one trip to the post office I seem to be waiting for an address or payment
Have a good day everybody

Good Morning Ladies, Yes it is sure been blustery here overnight and again this morning. Freesias and other bulbs need a feed. Have just done my pots last weekend. Give them about 3 feeds once when the first come up, just as they come into flower and after they die down. I have a number of tubs, pots with bulbs so I move them around. I need to plant some bulbs I came across at the w/end. Job to do today. Hope that helps you, Gerry. There are a number of mixtures out there.

Went to Knit and Natter yesterday and finished a dishcloth off. Doing a catch up on UFO's at present as I want to start a shawl at the w/end as well as sew some curtains.

Slow start today as I phone family in The UK this morning. Good to catch up with them and let then know how their Uncle is.
Time I moved as I have our Lawnmower guy coming shortly and I want to pick up the oranges that came down during the night.

Popeye you take care. Can wait for the mag, don't think she is in needs it straight away, present knitting a baby blanket for her first grandchild.

Have a great day everyone.

spring bulbs are always hungry so yes, as sunflowers says, feed them now and throughout their spring cycle. They will love you for it.

Traffic is now streaming the other way, guess it's home time for many from the Field Days.

Had a good day at school with no drama (thank goodness).

yes popeye, that hit and run was on the news last night. Those poor kids, must have been pretty scary.

Time for some 'me' time I think.

12163

I remember that last time we went to the Field Days. We took our Dutch friend, his Thai wife went to a womans day in Taupo. She couldnt understand why I wanted to go with the men lol.. Im a country girl at heart.

Jakob couldnt get over how much I loved the wood chopping and chainsaw competitions, I could have watched them all day.

Except that I reckon it was the coldest day I had ever been in. There was a heavy fog, over a frost and then it rained on top of it. It was bitterly cold all day.
But it was an awesome day too lol.

I cut out , with Missys help and have sewed my skirt. Did the gathering by hand. And thats pinned on to be sewn tomorrow and add the elastic and Im done. I noticed I am getting a little dye from the fabric on my hands..Its salt you wash it in isnt it ? to stop it running??

Apparently the two girls are inseperable... they saw the car coming towards them so ran from it, but still got hit.

Almost time for my friend to ring.

Have a good night everyone

salt with iodine in it popeye, soak then rinse in cold water.

MrK is watching a programme on Netflix, what on earth did we do before Netflix lol.

Am pretty tired so no knitting for me this evening.

morning ladies :) We have the double whammy this morning, both frost and fog but looks like the sun is trying to push through. Traffic is streaming by for the Field Days and they will be back again this afternoon. The new expressway and the new roundabout going into Leamington will make a huge difference to traffic flow this year.

I have a few things to potter about with today and back in the classroom tomorrow. I've made a tough choice about my teaching and have decided to look elsewhere for work. As much as I love it, unless I can find a permanent position soon my registration lapses. And I'm not the only teacher in this position sadly. Makes me furious when I hear on the news there is a 'teacher shortage', yeah, right.

Time to put the washing on and get on with my day which hopefully will include some knitting.

happy knitting

Morning everyone
Frost with fog is sooo bitterly cold.

Tough desicion Kiwimade.. from what Ive heard its a huge cost to stay registered too, and I guess when you only get temp work, financailly it would be worth it. If your registration lapses can you sign up again later? or is it something you have to keep active or could you re register?

Had another awesome nights sleep. Next to no pain now which is lovely. I need to talk to my GP tho, to see if she agrees about staying on the slow release oxy.

Shopping this morning. MrP will stay home. I plan on going to the oppies for a look.
Will finish my skirt this afternoon and then soak. Thanks Kiwimade.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning everyone. Sun out so washing is on the line and second load in the machine.
Had problems getting into my computer this morning. Had to run a programme called Repair by M/soft. So far everything ok. Fingers crossed.

Busy time yesterday we chainsaw some branches off the Silk Tree and a couple fruit trees. Firewood for next winter.!! Potted up some tubs and put newspaper down on a strip of ground to make sure the weeds etc die before adding the weed mat. The tubs will be placed there on top of the stones. As our section on an old river bed there plenty of stones about.
Looking forward to doing some sewing later today
Take Care!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning ladies, couldn't get to sleep last night, was reading on the net about the fire in London and just can't believe that a building that size had only one stairwell, and it seems no sprinkler system and ineffective fire alarms. Good grief. I think heads will roll further down the track.

So as a result I slept in this morning, and am still not showered or dressed and haven't had breakfast yet - so think I will have brunch instead.

Plan is to do a wee bit of sewing this morning (what's left of it), town early afternoon to check the mail and post two packages and then come home and make a bacon and egg pie to take up to the neighbours as we are having a "committee meeting" (just an excuse for a get-together) to discuss what form our mid-winter Christmas celebration should take and whose house we will hold it. Should be fun.

sunflowers I had problems with my computer yesterday - came home at midday to an email from my isp to say they had "upgraded" some equipment down the road and I may need to reboot my modem. I tried that 3 times and couldn't get any internet. So I phoned them. I admit they answered quickly - I didn't have to wait - but it took nearly an hour to get the problem sorted. I never could have done it without their help. Seems to be okay now.

Have a super day everyone.

Kuaka You was not the only who was up reading of the tower block fire. We have family and friends in the area and it was a waiting game to hear they where all ok.
Nurses I know worked a double shift, they finally checked in to say they where ok.Others self checked in on this site.' The Attack in London, United Kingdom Facebook Safety Check.' A handy site. If they are friends on FB they can let you know.
Sometimes before we hear about it.
I'm not sure if you have family in London, handy if you do.

Will have some jobs to finish off tonight as I pickup Mr S in morning after been away for the week.. Yes! it was a good break as we where both getting tired and walking around each other.
Hope everyone has a good sleep.

Morning ladies, another enjoyable "committee meeting" last night. Everyone took a plate and the hostess cooked a couple of pizzas in her pizza gizmo (which is a bit like an electric frying pan but it has a solid flat base and an element in the lid as well), The mid-winter Christmas get together is going to be at my place and another of the neighbours is organising who brings what so it doesn't all fall to me. Two of the neighbours walked me home to make sure I got home safely and then they walked back. I sat in the chair and woke at 3am! Just as well the heat pump was still on or I would have been frozen.

Going to Kerikeri shopping today. Have a couple of things I need to return to the warehouse, and also query the price I was charged on a bra last time I was there. Docket shows I bought 3 bras, one was $165 and the other two were $1 each. I think I bought two sets of 3 and I can't remember if I bought one or two single ones.

Had the invoice from the electrician yesterday. $52.38 - I was very pleasantly surprised and paid it immediately.

Right, time to have breakfast and get myself off to Kerikeri.

Have a super day everyone.

Good morning,Slow start the ground is white this morning. Good Luck kiwimade with your chat with the principal. Are you at the one school now or do you cover two schools?
I'm off into morning tea with the staff today. We have a teacher taking time out to do some study in England. Be missed by us all. Also need to check some children reading. Hoping next week I will be back into the swing of it again.

Mr S is coming home today, the week went very quickly. I have a couple of jobs to finish before I collect him. Still no driving, so friend is collecting him.
Waiting for my next appointment from the hospital. Need to follow it up.

Kuaka I'm still not happy about my computer,so will phone my computer people and see if they know why I having trouble getting it started first thing. In meantime I don't shut it down.

Lovely day it's turning out to be ,so I will say "Bye for now and have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone,
Overcast here today.

With great sadness I have to say my 20 year old washing machine has died.. Only ever needed one repair, within the last 6 years. And our fix it man said then you cant get parts.

So I will do some homework on prices and then go to our local 100% shop who always gives great deals and delivery.

And of course it has 2 queen sheets in it lol

I finished my skirt yesterday and Im very pleased with it. Its not just been thrown together like I normally sew. But now it will have to wait till i have a machine to soak it in lol

Off to do my INR and a couple of other things up the road.

And Erin our house lady is due today.

Actually thats two things broken in the last 24 hours cos my Mop died too. lol

Best get moving, have a fab day everyone.. Mines going to be expensive lol

Hi, Just sitting here drinking my coffee and catching up on family mail that comes in overnight.
Popeye just use a bowl or bucket to soak your skirt in the salt and rise it by hand let it drip dry it.
I had to replace my machine after 27 years and don't like the big thing we went brought.
It's now a love warm sunny day here, windows and doors all open to freshen up the house.
Gerry and Jayemtoo hope you both are enjoying the weather as well.
Coffee over. I have a floor vac and wash.

sunflowers28 - 2017-06-16 11:04:00
12175

Wow Sunflowers I thought 20 years was a pretty long service.

I was stunned to see you can get them up to 10kg's now.. Ive chosen the Haier 6 kilo one. On special saving $155 and you get a $50 MTA voucher too.
I could use a large bucket to soak my skirt in but Im happy enough to wait for the machine. Wont be here till next week.
I imagine I wont be saying goodbye to the new machine in 20 years, things arent made to last that long these days. lol

popeye333 - 2017-06-16 12:28:00
12176

your washing machine certainly lasted the distance popeye. I replaced ours two years ago and bought a new tub not long ago as well.

WINZ phoned while I was school, so apologetic about mucking us around because of my wages and yes, we were right and they were wrong, I am 'allowed' to earn up to $5200 a year before I am penalised and shouldn't have been penalised until I reached that figure. So now we wait for a refund and the amount they said we owed them (because they were 6 weeks behind in processing my wage slips and then had the gall to say I owed them) is being reversed. MrK told them we have lost many many sleepless nights over their ineptitude and got more apologies lol. So there you go, WINZ can apologise if they choose too.

I've had a chat to my principal and it's all over rover so to speak. For many reasons but mainly because of WINZ's slackness and me not being able to gain full registration.

Anyhoo, off for a beer with friends. We're toasting their old dog who was one of my favourite dogs of all time (don't let the Furry One know lol) and was PTS yesterday due to cancer. I'll miss her terribly.

kiwimade64 - 2017-06-16 16:18:00
12177

Nice to see you got the apologies Kiwimade,, other branches need to learn how to do the same.

So no more teaching for you now? Thats sad when they say in another breathe they need more.

Awee not good re the old Dog. But at least its not suffering anymore.. and what a lovely way to honour him/her.

popeye333 - 2017-06-16 16:38:00
12178

morning ladies :) I'll finish at the end of the term popeye. Am devastated but it is what it is. I'll go back every so often to help with the environmental stuff the school does.

Foggy as heck for the last full day of Field Days and the traffic is whizzing by. What amazes me is the amount of traffic driving in the fog without their lights on.

I phoned Land Transport the other day and our yellow line is still being churned through the processes but it is definitely going to be done. We thought we were in luck the other day when the line painting people were redoing some local roads.

We have a busy week coming up so need to have housework done today, not that there is much to do with just the two of us at home.

Knitting a bit later on.

Happy knitting

kiwimade64 - 2017-06-17 07:35:00
12179

Morning ladies, I hadn't been home long from kerikeri yesterday when my friend phoned and said the cancer society hadn't been able to find anyone to stay with her tonight, so would I mind going down there. Not at all. So the plan is I will leave here around 10 - have to nip to town first - then I will go down, do my shopping at Arthur's Emporium and Spotlight, and the warehouse seeing as they didn't have the jeans I wanted, have some lunch and be at her place by 2 when she is supposed to arrive home by taxi. I offered to stay longer than just one night but she thinks she will be okay - we'll see. She has a home help coming at 8am on Monday.

I also discovered that on the warehouse docket there are several items that say Necessities Bra but it's only because there isn't enough room to put Brand! So I successfully made myself look a right twit querying the cost of the bra when it was in fact the dehumidifier I bought. Oops!

Right, shower time. Hope you all have time for some knitting over the weekend.

Morning everyone
Ohh thats a shame Kiwimade, but at least you can still be involved.. Are you able to be a tutor or do you have to keep the certificate up for that too?

Foggy as here too, and quite chilly with it. Cant see the house 2 doors over.

We are at the petition stage of hoping to get speed bumps on the road we are on the corner of. Its straight and they use it as a racing track, even during school starting and leaving hours.. We have formed a group to talk on our behalf and the school is involved too.

Im feeling a bit yuck in the tummy this morning. Not sure why.. I was hoping to cut out another skirt but the last thing I want to be doing is leaning over the table cutting it out. Was tending to MrPs legs and it made me feel horrible. Proabbly an overload of pollen. It seems to be really bad for some reason.

Nice of you to go help your friend Kuaka. Often we rely on friends even more than family these days.

Have a fab day every

Morning all - sky a mixed bag this morning but think it is going to stay fine - chilly
Well my grandson gave the kids the box of clothes after school yesterday - my daughter in law gathered up some other bits and pieces from friends so all the kids now have plenty of really warm clothes - Corban told the mum some of it wasn't his but his friends - the mum came over to thank my DIL - Corban had stayed over there and was playing rugby with the kids - she said she found it difficult taking help but because Corban had treated her kids just as normal kids she thought it was OK - funny logic but I understand - she said the little boy looked a bit disappointed so she asked him what was the matter - he was hoping Corbans school blazer would be in the box - he goes to a private school with a bright reddish blazer ! His mum laughed - I am hoping now the ice is well and truly broken she will tell me if she needs anything -
Kiwimade - I don't understand the teaching thing - I met a very capable lady probably about 40 - who was coaching a netball team in a very low decile area so she certainly was showing commitment but couldn't get a full time teaching job despite having a masters degree in teaching - one interview she went to was told she didn't need to be teaching she had plenty of family money - anybody seeing her with those kids on a Saturday who often she has had to go and pick up because mum won't wake up - or have no shoes of even breakfast can see what a brilliant teacher she would be - but she like you has given up
Did a two rounds of my crochet yesterday then couldn't get out of the chair my ribs were so sore so won't do that again today
I know I said I won't mention Winz again but next Thursday a man from the compliance and procedure dept is coming to see me - wants me to talk him through from my perspective my drama - so my son is going to be here as well - hopefully some good might come of it
It is 6 months today since MrG passed - time is flying along for sure

yep Gerry, they say there is a teacher shortage. And I know the school I relieve at is desperate for relieving staff. But if we can't get our full registration then we have to let our provisional regos lapse.

Housework done and the fog is clearing, still a nip in the air though. I need to pop into town as I forgot to buy loo paper of all things when I grocery shopped the other day. And it's not like we can wait until I go shopping again lol. MrK needs more Danish oil for his woodwork so I'll get that too. I love hardware shops, they have lots of interesting things. Then knitting!

morning ladies :) Looks like our hot water cylinder has bit the dust, not looking forward to this bill. The traffic and weather seem a bit calmer today so we may be able to get outside and do something. Knitting later on.

Morning everyone,
Hugs Gerry, for the 6 monthly annniversary.

This whole thing with the teaching is stupid eh.. There are good teachers out there but cos of red tape its just not working for anyone.

Kiwimade try Demolision traders for a new hotwater cylinder, we got one from there years ago and it was very reasonable. Then you only have to have it put in.

I had a total blah day yesterday but am feeling heaps better today.. I will get these sheets out today. And have got the next piece of fabric out for another skirt. I think ill make three and that will have me sorted for a while.

MrP has had a couple of rough days, but I think is feeling a bit better this morning.. hes not so crabby at least lol.. He had a nasty asthma attack at 5 am, so I thought Ill just sit with him, rub his arm to relax him. And it worked he had 3 more hours of good sleep.. Just like a baby lol.

Right the sun has popped through the fog so Ill get a bit done on here and then get those sheets out..

Have a fab day all

Nearly good afternoon everybody sluggish start to the day but will get cracking soon
Hope mr P is feeling better as the day goes on
Just had one of the boys next door call in he was going to a school friends birthday party all dressed up in his new clothes -warms my heart
Did another couple of rounds of crochet yesterday - hurts but I am getting bored

Thanks Gerry. Yes I have my happy chappy back again now. Hes watching the trains on discovery channel.

Soo lovely re the boy from next door. I would say you have friends for life now.

I have cut out a skirt in a lovely piece of tartan I got at a St Johns Oppy. Was alot wider than normal so I had to use the brain to figure out how to cut without wasting too much.. Stripes make it soo easy to cut. But I did have to shut Missy girl down the hall cos she thought Mummy needed help.!! lol
Will sew this afternoon, Ill put a wqestern on for MrP and he wont even miss me lol

Evening ladies, arrived home safely about 3.30, and pleased to say my friend felt well enough to be left on her own this evening. I offered to stay tonight and come home early in the morning but she was concerned puss would be missing me too much. Puss was curled up on a blanket on the back of my chair when I got home. It is now pelting with rain so pleased I didn't come home this evening which was the original plan.

Managed to get some curtain lining at Arthurs and a pair of jeans at the Warehouse (not exactly what I wanted but close enough). Went to Spotlight but didn't buy anything. This morning my friend wanted to go and get a few things at the supermarket, nothing much, milk, eggs, fruit and bread but I think she is doing remarkably well considering she only had surgery on Wednesday afternoon. We talked lots and it was really good to catch up with her as I don't see a lot of her. Now we wait anxiously for two weeks to see what the test results show.

I suppose I had better think of cooking some tea.

I will try to do some knitting tonight.

Meant to say before Kiwimade, I love Hardware stores. I used to go with my stepfather if he needed anything. Would love sinking my hands in the spinning metal containers with the nails, staples etc in. That was back when I was a teenager lol.. He also taught me my love of the kitchen sections of stores too lol.. He beleived in having all the tools you need.

I still have the scissors he brought me when I got my first sewing machine. They were a top brand back then, about 1982. I think Ive only had them sharpened, once, possibly twice.. they do need some attention now tho.

I have run the gathering stitch through for the frill of my skirt. So only need to gather, attatch it and then sew it down. Really enjoying my sewing at the mo.

I saw Armins Poncho she knitted for a friend. Im very tempted to crochet myself one. Its just two rectangles really. I could do sparkly ones out of the yarn left over from my two frilly jackets I made, but I will probably make a home one first as a prototype lol..

Stay warm everyone

Morning everyone
Yep super early for me. I have an early app at the drs and will need extra time to dry my hair this morning.

It doesnt look like there is fog, so far.

I shall finish my second skirt today, a nice tartan one. But Ive ignored my OCD and dont have matching lines. Too bad if it annoys other OCD peoples lol. I dont have to look at it when Im wearing it lol.

I will also get some wool out for a poncho. Kinda apt for this time of the year. 43 years ago mum was going with dad to a Womans devision AGM in the South Island. She had brought wool to knit me a longish cape. Dad died on the 21st so of course Mum never made the trip. I never got the cape, and I was thinking last night, I dont think I ever saw what the wool ended up being made into. Funny the odd things you remember.

The shortest day is nearly upon us. Maybe we will get a few more weeks of decent winter.

Have a fab day everyone. Stay warm

morning ladies :) It's mum's anniversary today, seven years. Can't believe how quick time has gone by and what has happened in those years. I look at our grandies and little great niece and think how much mum would have enjoyed having them around.

MrK has just told me I need to make some 'lolly' water as the waxeyes are around so I'll get onto that shortly. And I'll cut some fruit up for them too, they love grapefruit, feijoas and banana.

had a couple of near misses on the Kaimai Ranges yesterday, another temporary kiwi undertook us going over and a tailgater almost ran me off the road coming home. Even had the nerve to honk his horn at me and I was doing the speed limit.

I need to unpick *sigh* a couple of rows, the Furry One jumped on my lap as I was knitting and I was distracted. Will do that and sort through some teaching stuff.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, quite wet here this morning, but not particularly cold I suspect. It was cold when I came home yesterday so I lit the fire, but before going to bed I put the heat pump back on as low as it will go, so it wasn't too bad when I got up this morning. I woke at 4 and finally got up at 5, so I'm not sure what I'll be like by the time I want to go to the club at 5.30. Have to see. Had planned on putting some plants in the garden after lunch (op shop this morning) but won't be doing that if it's still raining, might have a nana nap instead.

I saw some crazy drivers on the road during my trip to Whangarei and back. It amazes me how they get away with it - of course, there will be a time when they don't. Just have to hope they don't kill someone else because they are being stupid.

Right, better get myself ready for work.

Have a super day everyone.

Time does fly Kiwimade.. And yes some special times and little people she wont know. Im sure you are a fantastic Nana on her behalf.

Its overcast herebut still no rain.

Been to the drs and I can honestly say everyone else will be late lol.. Im coming off the slow release oxycontin and going onto the fast ones for when i need stronger meds. Less chance of addiction that way.

And am finally getting a large mole taken off under my chin. So have to play devil with my warfarin, as in dont take it two days before the surgery..

Was funny when she came to get me, when we were walking to her room she said Just what have you been up to since I saw you .. I said Ya just cant do anything in this town without someone knowing lol.

Right time to get this gathering done.

Have a fab day

Morning everyone,
A mixed bag of weather out there today I think.

Yay my new washing machine arrives this afternoon.. From all reports they take a fair bit of time for a load.. but time doesnt really worry me.

Finally got the frill pinned to the skirt yesterday.. Hope to sew it sometime today. But I will have to get the car out and move some stuff around to make it easy to swap the machines over aftert we have been for our podiatry appointments.

Started a poncho in Maroon with a few white stripes thrown in, as much for a break in colour as the odd thing of it seems to grow faster with stripes. Was some cheap acrylic I got from Spotlight, but its actually nice and soft.

Hope everyone is warm and dry..

Have a fab day Ladies

Morning ladies from a very wet and windy "winterless north" -doesn't feel too cold though but I won't know for sure until I venture out.

Was hoping to plant some veg seedlings yesterday but it rained, it's still raining, I know I could do it, but I've got a wee bit of a sore throat and I don't want to get worse and I'm sure gardening in the cold rain wouldn't help. Meantime my sister phoned last night and said it's so hot in the UK she doesn't want to do anything except sit in the shade of a tree!

Good craft weather, so I just might take the opportunity to do some sewing - I want to make curtains for the window at the bottom of the stairs, and I still need to make the lining for the curtain I put up in the bedroom the other day. It has a lining but it's about 18 inches shorter than the curtain - not that it really notices, because it is below the windowsill, but I'd like it to be floor length the same as the curtain. Maybe this morning. Time will tell.

If I decide after breakfast that I don't feel like sewing, there's always knitting.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all - chilly but fine - yesterday was lovely 19 degrees - beautiful at the dog park
My mum has had another fall - there is a fine line between stubborn and stupid and I think she may have crossed it - once again she has fallen trying to avoid alerting the night staff she is up going to the loo - 9th August is her 100 not far away at all - fingers crossed
Ponchos used to be so handy might put one on my list of to do - need to go to the podiatrist and the hair dresser - MrG has cut my hair for years when I see the prices for a haircut makes me flinch !
Have a crafty day everybody

Its turned out beautiful now.

The podiatrist strapped my sore foot for me.. its amazing how its helping.

Washing machine due soon.. And it will be put straight to work.

Gerry take something for shock when you go to the hairdressers.. I want a straight across the bottom trim and they want $30-$40 for it... That is rediculous.. so Ill keep trimming myself. not often its down so no one can tell.

Took my crochet for a walk lol, the middle appointment between us didnt turn up so I was done straight after MrP.

Exactly Popeye I have had a "bob" haircut forever so I really object to paying $5O which is what the local hairdresser charges - Mr G used to do a very good job in just a few minutes every 6 weeks or so

Morning everyone,

Hoping those MIA are ok.

Well Im liking my new washing machine.. The Midget we are calling it, cos compared to the old one its tiny.
Alot of people had told me they dont spin enough water out of the clothes, and take ages for a cycle and tangle clothes up.. Well None of that has happened. But that me cos I have always laid the clothes towels etc in evenly.
Its senses the amount of water it needs too so that has to be a saving on the water. And if it does uneven itself, it goes back to the wash part, refills and levels itself up.. Clever stuff this modern technology lol

Will be crocheting today Once the washing is folded. Hoping my dishes fairy will get them done today too.

Have a fab day all

Afternoon ladies, well I made the mistake of dozing off in the chair last night, so as a result was wide awake and at 3am I gave in and took half a sleeping pill, supposed to give me 5 hours sleep. I woke at 10.25 and the bedroom was still dark and I thought "it can't possibly be time to get up but I'd better look at the clock" and couldn't believe my eyes. So I've achieved nothing this morning except breakfast, shower and went to knit and natter. Checked the mail and came home. No more squishy parcels. I have 3 outstanding, but looks like they will be "no show" which is a pity. Never mind, I've got rather a lovely stash now.

It is blowing a gale here today. I had trouble opening the car door when I parked on the waterfront to go to knitting. I'd like to do some planting this afternoon, so will have to wrap up warm if I decide to bit the bullet and do it. Have to make sure that the little plants won't get too battered though, should be okay where I want to put them.

We have a mid-winter Christmas get-together scheduled for 1st July at my place. One of the neighbours sent an email out to everyone saying "bring your own alcohol and a chair". I've since told her that when I had a count up, I can rustle up enough chairs for everyone (I need to re-cover two) they won't all match but it seems a bit off to expect people to bring a chair with them. It's not like saying bring a wine glass and a knife and fork! I have plenty of them too.

Well seeing as I was so late out of bed, I have the dishes to do, but I might have lunch first and do the lot in one go, then I'll try to find something to recover the chairs with and put my plants in. After that I can relax and knit - and hopefully stay awake.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone.

Afternoon all - was out of bed more than I was in last night - just couldn't settle so finally fell asleep in the wee small hours and like you Kuaka woke late but the cleaner was coming so had to get my skates on - will try and avoid a snooze in the chair though
Went just around the corner to swap some lemons for persimmons - struggled for ages trying to get the gate opened - couldn't so came back home and read the instructions the lady had given me as I hadn't taken my phone - I was pushing instead of pulling - will have a cuppa and go back round again maybe
Did a few more rounds of my blanket - not at all sure about it - it is really just rings of 3double crochet - like a Peggy square in a continual circle - it is so plain compared to the Sophie I have done for the other granddaughter -
Haven't heard from Jayemtoo for a wee while ?
