Yay Im soo pleased for you ffloss... May it continue but not so much that it floods.

Was at the drs forever lol.. But he said Ive damaged the tendons, which is what I suspected since it doesn't hurt to bend the knuckle but the flesh around it. he said I was doing the right thing in keeping it working..
But the big thing I wanted to know about was the swelling hand and wether I could use anti inflam cream. The swelling he said I could have simply laid on it wrong and sometimes the body goes out in sympathy with already swollen bits.
And Noo Im not allowed the anti inflam creams. It was worth going to find that out. Cos it is absorbed it can muck up my warfarin and INR bloods..

So regular pain meds and keep using it.

AND our baby is back, id been home 5 mins and the garage brought our car back... Im soo pleased. Told the mechinc boss that Id given the loaner car a nick name.. The Grater.. cos after being in a Honda CRV it feels like your grating your butt on the road. He laughed.. and hes such a little wee shorty that its better for him than high cars lol.

So My knitting is my pysio lol... Keep up the good work and work the pain away lol

Morning all.
Off out in a few minutes to our block of land to fix a fence and do more work clearing the land getting it ready for ploughing.
Taking Mac with us as the neighbours is my sister in law and therefore Mac's mum and dad and half sister and brother and cousins ( you get my meaning lol) just have to make sure he doesn't over do things.

awww whiskey, he will love that... our JR still plays with his mum and dad and whenever we visit without him, we get checked out and then have a grumpy JR for a while lol.
Off to walk the furry one then maybe go to an antique fair if it is on - may have the dates wrong. Housework is done, so could even do more knitting.
Happy knitting!

Housework - what's that? Well I suppose doing it is a rather novel idea - I might try it sometime, probably not today though!

Morning all... Housework? that's that stuff that interferes with Knitting time eh...
Im going to do this message then nip out and see if the car is wet inside... It absolutely hosed down at 5am. Hope its ok I don't think I could take much more of Mr Grumpy this week lol.

I only have the hair to put on Angus's Hat and to knit the pipe covers and do his face then Im finished . So It should be done today. I couldn't see well enough last night to do anything on black.

Have a good day all

Morning all. Leaving soon to meet a girlfriend for brunch. Taking the furs with me (she will have two as well) and after brunch, we'll take them to the river and walk.

Probably won't be home until well after 1pm, at which time I might just sit and knit.

wahoooo great stuff popeye lol... we had a leaky windscreen once, the car was soaked! So I know how you feel.
The furry one had his walk but hates it when chestnuts clutter the track lol... mind you, I would too if I had bare paws, those chestnuts are prickly!
Looks like the antique fair is on so we're off, heaven knows what time we will be back and I can knit.
Part of my Deramores order arrived yesterday and I'm expecting the second part today with the wool in it.. can't wait! But I will be good and finish the wee rugby jersey I'm knitting. Have done the back, front, collar and plaquets (I'm a sucker for punishment!)... will stitch those parts together before starting the sleeves and when popeye's silver fern arrives, swiss darn that on and voila!
Happy knitting!

So much for the rain - it lasted for only an hour and today it is lovely and sunny. We need the rain so much. We have been watering but we have to pay for our water which is crazy as we have this big river ( Clutha ) going right past us. One local has pulled out all his roses -65- and gave them away as he had a $600 water bill.
Our little town of Clyde is up in arms about these water bills. Have a great day everyone.

Was in the post yesterday Kiwimade... Late tho.

Ohh ffloss Id be annoyed too. Do you save your washing machine water for the gardens and lawns? We did one year when we had drought. They don't mind the soap.We pay for our water, but after living in a motor home for a long time we learnt to conserve it. So we pay $6 a week for our water and that covers us...
Mind you no one in this country should have to pay.

Was sooo nice to drive our own car, and have dry feet...

popeye - your car problems reminds me of a time when I was visiting my son, and he lent me his car to go shopping in. As I drove up out of his driveway he came chasing after me with a bath towel. I asked what it was for and he just grinned and said "you'll see". I saw alright. The first time I braked all the water in the headlining of the roof gashed over me like a shower. Apparently the sun roof was letting in water, and it just gathered somewhere until you had to brake, then you got it all over you!

Weve only ever had one sunroof. Thankfully it didn't leak.. We occasionally get a drip in the very back door of this Honda too but only when breaking.

Angus is almost done. I have the white bits to sew on the last pipe. Three pipes to add to bagpipes. Then attach that to the doll. And glue on his eyes and he is done.
Just remembered she wants some haggis too. But they are simple to make.

Then Ill have to figure out what to do next.. possibly something to list. Then back to the big dolls.

LOL, too funny.

Went out for breakfast and took the furs to the river. Once home a girlfriend called round and then I just mucked around. Never did any knitting! My nephew taking my sister (and her husband) and me out for a meal tonight as we have just both had birthdays. Tomorrow morning I am going out for breakfast again! It never rains but it pours.

My girlfriend whom I went to breakfast with this morning, asked me last week if I would like to go to New York with her. I said I would depending on cost. Anyway, the travel agent came up with a pretty good fare. We will also have three days in San Francisco. I really can't believe it's happening. I've already started Googling wool shops etc, lol. We will be leaving on the 6th July.

Woohoo Pats that will be a cool trip... Take lots of photos for us.

Was my friends birthday yesterday, I get to call her the Old Girl for 9 days till I catch up lol... I don't have any plans for my birthday. Ive had my pressie to myself lol... The Tablet.. But there will be another wool order when My sister in law sends me some money for her order too.

Im just warming my glue up to do Angus's Eyes. Then he is done. I just have a couple of haggis to make. Cant put photos up this time or Ill be self promoting. But they will be easily seen in the morning. lol

I have a knitting pattern for a cardigan from a European knitting magazine.
Can someone read this instruction. Maybe it was way too late for me last night but it reads double dutch.
LEFT FRONT
Decreasing 8 x 1 on every 4th row at right edge (Side edge) and 10 sts from this edge.
Shape raglan on right edge as described for back. etc etc.
Im ok with shape raglan but its the bit about right edge (side edge) and 10 sts. arnt they saying work 32 rows decreasing 1 stitch every 4th row (8 times) on left hand side. ??

This pattern is for an A shaped loose cardigan.
Back decreasing was this.
decrease on 4th row as follows (Right side) K1 sl 1 K1 posso K10 sl 1 K1 psso, work row until last 15 sts K2tog, K10 K2 tog K1. Rept this dec row 7 times on every 4th row.

?? thank you so much.

Its gobbildy Gook to my brain at this time of the day Janz...

I finished great Uncle Angus Last night, and a couple of Haggis. Cant put a photo up yet tho.. Ohh I could on fb.. Will do that. Hoping to meet the buyer on here so she can use buy now as soon as he is listed. Quite pleased with him. Ill put photos up when the auction has finished tho.

Going to hit the cross stitch stuff this morning. Books and kits first, maybe some of the new packs of cotton. Judging by the prices they go for on here Im looking at a good bit of money coming in for wool lol.

It will also give me more room in the office for stuff too lol

Havent decided what Im going to knit next. Although I might do a Christmas something, to list on here. Then back to the clowns for my friend.

Well I have to do a wee ball and a teddy to put on the lolly doll. The lady thinks the ice cream and apple are too big so Im going to change them for her. I make sure everything is sewn on very well so not looking forward to trying to get them out of her hands... Time will tell tho.

Have a good day all

Doesn't make much sense to me either, but then it's a bit early in the morning for me yet, (I don't get "humanised" till well after midday) suggest you put a call out to "arrabella" and ask for her help, She's usually pretty good.

It does sound confusing but yes I would just go with the 8 stitches over every 4th row same as the back.

Ive got to make a wee ball and wee teddy to put into the Lolly girls hands. The buyer thinks the ice cream and apple are too bulky... Just hope I don't damage the hands getting them out.

After that Im going to make something to list... but I haven't a clue what. Well that's the plan but Craftylady from general wants a toy. Have to talk to her about that.

Gotta keep busy as it helps my fingers.

Have spent the morning taking photos of some of my cross stitch stuff. Will be a big job listing it all.

I hope you all had a good weekend..

Angus is packed ready to go to Nelson. I did the ball and teddy for when the lolly girl comes back. And started Amelia one of Jean Greenhowes dolls. Be nice and different to do too. She's in her pantaloons and petticoat with rag curlers in her hair.

Looks like it might be a good day here. Might leaver the postings till tomorrow Ill see how things go

Have a good day all

pats - I knitted on the plane last time I flew to the UK - it really depends on the airline. I used very small needles and knitted bootees, (they the were "needle ends" from an old circular needle - they were plastic and I glued a bead on the end to stop the stitches coming off), I also took an old crochet hook and crocheted a couple of beanies on the way too. I took old ones so if they were confiscated I wouldn't be upset. Nobody said anything. I checked the airlines website first and they weren't on the prohibited list. That was Malaysia Airlines.

Anyway Pats, it's very exciting for you, and I hope you have a lovely time. I wish I was flying off somewhere nice for a holiday, even a short one would do.

morning! The furry one has had his walk and sniffed his way along our walking track, checked out all the trees and done his obligatory poop in front of the vet clinic (yes, I picked it up!) so my day will go much smoother now.
I finished all the knitting for the rugby jersey last night so just have to sew the sleeves in, have started a black beanie to match as I have so much wool left over.
Not that I am complaining, but I always seem to have at least one ball of wool left over compared to what the pattern says. Husband wants a pair of gloves, I have never knitted them before so this will be something new! Also have some wool for knitting a throw... can't find what I want on the shops so will make my own. At least then no one else will have something the 'same' as me!
Happy knitting :)

good morning from a very chilly Bathurst - love the piper popeye
Well after struggling with the shaping of the slipper I went back onto the website that I had downloaded the pattern from and looked at the comments - 8 of them blimmin syaing the pattern doesnt work when you come to the shaping - after my first mess up getting the stitch wrong I was about to give up when I couldnt get my head around the shaping - its a pity they didnt alter the pattern rather than just leave it on there wrong
Off to the dog park -dog is rattling his lead at my feet

Hi all, have taken big dog to physio this morning which he loved - he's all tired out now and having a lie down poor boy. The other 2 dogs have exercised themselves chasing each other round the yard. They have banked the corners at each end of their self made running track, it scares me how fast they go.
Would have loved a massage myself this morning, still have a sore shoulder and painful finger. I can still knit though so that's what I'm heading off to do now.
How annoying about that pattern gerry, it should be taken off if it's incorrect.
Have a lovely day all and take care :)

that really does make ya mad doesn't it gerry, but at least it wasn't your knitting lol.
The silver fern pattern arrived today popeye, thanks for that! I have posted feedback too. I'll start it after I've had my cuppa :).
Have been outside sanding down daughter's box (got tingly fingers from the sander lol) and have painted one coat of sealant as I couldn't get all the purple paint off, even using paint stripper and sanding! When the sealant is dry, I can move the box into the garage for the night and will get some paint during the week. Feel like I'm onto the 'fun' bit :) now.

I agree, they should take bad patterns out of the system ...

Glad you love the Silverfern Kiwimade, cant wait to see the finished product.

Ive done the bum to head of Amelia. and have one row to finish one leg. shes going to be a quick make.

Im envious re painting of the box. I cant paint to save myself... Married Painter tho, that was wise lol.
Can wall paper tho which I used to love doing lol.

Better go get some roasties into the pan and do MrPs insulin etc...

gerry64 - 2013-04-29 16:25:00

well I started the swiss darning of the silver fern (omgg I am sooo out of practise lol) but The Furry One kept demanding my attention and sitting on my boobies blocking my view... then the light faded and stitching on black is impossible for me in the evening. So I'll get it done tomorrow.
My dad was a painter/paperhanger so he taught me how to paint and what to do, sooo handy when we paint in and around the house. The sealant is on so I can now paint a light colour over a dark colour without it bleeding through. Hate having to wash my hands with turps though :S. There were only a few patches of purple I couldn't get off so not too bad. I'll post pics when it's all finished as I'm taking photos at the different stages.

I know what you mean about using Black wool. I don't even like knitting it at night, even tho I have a brilliant light to work under.
Id love to paint, I haven't tried a roller tho.. That's something Id like to try.

Amelia is coming along Nicely Have done the body the arms and legs and 1/4 way through the long Pantaloons. It make s a change knitting something pretty and girly. Im hoping to get her done in a week... The petticoat being the biggest bit.

Lol Kiwimade re the furry one. My girl cat was good she could lay in my lap and not touch the knitting needles.. Boy cat doesn't lay on laps so I don't have that problem.
Have to post a couple of sales this morning and get a couple of thigns at supermarket.
And against my better judgement I have to go to the patchwork shop and see if she has a brown for Amelias hair. Its about the colour of chocolate. I have a rusty one and one that's too dark. so fingers crossed she has a good colour there, its my only hope without leaving town.

Ill be back later

morning! The Furry One (one very spoilt JR lol) has been walked and is now racing round and round and round.... where the heck does he get his energy:S. I'm off to Cambridge to try and sell a saddle and then Hamilton for groceries so I'll knit this afternoon (or sew... or paint lol).
Hope you find your colour popeye, I hate not having what I need lol, especially when I want/need it NOW :P
Happy knitting.

Have fun Kiwimade...

I didn't manage to find the "right" colour so instead Ill get the buyer to chose which colour she wants of three I have.

I did get a few balls at the oppy tho , was meant to go there cos I got the perfect blue for Angus's top, on the next one.

Have finished half of the pantaloons. And started the second half. My aim is to get that done and make a good start on the hair or the petticoat..

Hope you have fun un Hamilton...

too lovely to be inside lol, so I've been out and abouting with theh Furry One. Just having lunch and then need to burn some rubbish - the drought is over so I can burn all our old personal papers.
Popeye, I posted a pic of the rugby jersey in our FB group. Unfortunately, I just couldn't see with the black background to stitch the silver fern :(.
My time using dark backgrounds for stitching is now sadly over.

Have to admit Im a bit the same. I don't like knitting black wool.

What about stitching it in black cotton on a white square of fabric then sew that onto the jumper..

I love the set its soo cute.

Well I excelled my own stupidity yesterday. I went to stitch and bitch (or knit and natter as they apparently call it in the UK) and took along my knitting - little needles and only 11 stitches, I'm working on the edging for a blanket. It's not a pattern that is yet firmly fixed in my head so I have to keep referring to the pattern. What a wally then, I left that pattern at home and took along instead the pattern for the tunic I'm knitting for myself. Fortunately I also had a pair of needles and a ball of cotton, so I started on a dishcloth.

Ta-Da.. Miss Amelia is finished. Will take her shopping today then send down to craftylady1 tomorrow.

Ohh Kuaka, not a good look. Hate it when you pick up the wrong things when you go out like that.

Im going to try and get this ice cream and apple off Lolly girl and replace them with a tiny teddy and some poi's.. Have to knit those but that will only take a few mins. Ive done the teddy.

Feel achy today, maybe just slept wrong.

Ill be back later

I know, I did feel a bit of a twit, but I knitted half the dishcloth and finished it when I got home. I'm never going to buy another "chux" or whatever type cloth again. The knitted ones are so much better. And they don't take long to make.

My sister in law crochets hers. I always keep my eyes out for cotton in the oppies for her.

Amelia loved her trip to the supermarket lol... Shes packed up ready to go to craftylady tomorrow.

I have managed to get the ice cream and apple off Miss lolly without damaging anything so that's good. Ill get her done and return her tomorrow.

Tired today had a few too many late nights, cos no matter what time I finish knitting, I have to read for an hour to clear my head .

So today I will have my hours reading this afternoon, and will read early tonight, take a pill and have a good sleep.

lol kuaka I've done things like that and ommg you do feel a twit! Amelia is lovely popeye, I'm sure crafty will love her.
I've started the first panel for a throw a couple of days ago and decided this morning it won't be long enough so am lengthening it, just as well I am economical with wool/yarn so should have enough. When I've finished this panel, I'll post a pic. There will be five panels in all, with a crocheted edeging and tassells... can't wait to make those lol. Might make a few at a time in between knitting panels and use the ends of the skiens.
Happy knitting!

Ohh sounds likes an interesting project Kiwimade.

In years past mum and I used to knit squares for blankets. A friend down the road said she knits scarves for blankets.. Just makes rows of different colours etc and then sews each strip together.
I had never thought about doing it that way. Sure saves a lot of sewing.
Sometimes I don't have a practical head lol
