I like that picture you created, smartgirl! I think I would like more time for just him & me and we should make more effort, I think. Had Nana time last night, S & baby B came for tea. He is growing so fast when you only see him a couple of times a week. One by one I am saying farewell to my clients. And shedding a few tears once I get out their gate. Have to finish them all by next Friday 'cos I'm already doing my new job as well.

Hi girls Smartgirl I watched Outrageous Fortune the other night and Sherryl's bad back had my daughter and I in stitches. I could really relate to that episode. Ha ha. Okay the language is colourful but I understand that family only too well. Grizzly will know what I mean if some of her clients were like mine. Everyone has their own values, some of them great others not so good for some people but that is life. Well I have to start running I have a huge list to get through today.

Home again I got 4 xmas presents today and picked up all the parcels I had to. If the parcel is sent by NZ Post and is large we have to go to the mail centre and pick it up. Paid my TMS, got the cat food and seed planting mix. Now I have to hoover the house and the cottage as well as get all the washing dry in the drier. It has been so wet this season. Kids are up north for the day and night. A is starting a project so she is at a Seminar and S is there to mind bubs. Poor bu--er only arrived home from PNG late last night and they were off early this morning. M R was watching her daddy like a little hawk. Ha Ha. He is over the moon because a month is a long time.

I'm off to a good start with all the grandsons xmas pressies on layby already. Mind you I still have my own kids birthdays in a week or so. Off to Mamma Mia tonight! Have either of you seen it yet?

Hi ladies, I have had my head down and my bum up this week getting ready for my girls arrival tonight at 12.30 am actually Sat morning. With my back it is at a very slow pace. You are both really organised. I have only got one present organised and that was a wee cradle I brought of Zoe. We only have 3 birthdays to go so I can concentrate them. I cant believe this year has gone so fast. grizzly I know you will enjoy mamma mia tonight, they say it is great.

Hi Girls Had another power failure in cottage last night. Kids were away and there I an wandering around from house to cottage in my dressing gown muttering and cursing. Got the lights back but nothing else so electrician will have to come and check. That is cool smartgirl having your girl back. Bet you are really excited. How about we put our names down for a back transplant? Ha ha. With modern technology maybe in the distant future. Sigh. Nice to hear you have seen Zoe. How is she? Was that recent? Here endeth the questions. Have a really nice day.

No grizzly Have not seen Mamamia let us know what you think of it.

1159

Hi Makereal, I met Zoe earlier this year She was lovely as you would expect. It would be neat if we could all meet for a lunch one day. Shame we all dont live in the same town. You can put me down on that transplant list. I would rather be on that than have a operation right at the moment. I hope all your electricial problems are sorted by the weekend. At least you have the computer up and running. It would happen when you were on your own but I suppose better that with baby there.

smartgirl - 2008-07-25 11:17:00
1160

Hi smartgirl Yes I had power in the house but not in the cottage.I use the kids computer in there. Then I managed to get the lights on in the cottage but the fuse indicator for the heating etc is upside down so what I thought was on was actually off. Dah!!! Anyway all good and I have learnt something else. Come the summer we will all have to have lunch together in Hamilton.

That would be great. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone. My girl has gone to her partners parents to stay the night. She caught up with all her girlfriends last night so they minded C. He remembered me from when I was over there so that made me feel special. I am still getting over going to bed at 4.30 though. The first night I had such a restless sleep and kept waking up, last night I could not wake up. you cant win. Its great to see them though. I am knitting him a merino beanies. Big difference in and size 2 after doing newborn and prem sizes.

Spent yesterday with no 1 son We had lunch out and shared lots of laughs. Knitting Master 4 a jersey with a hamburger on the front. Trying to get him to change that but we will see.

Has anyone got any sunshine? Rain is getting to us all I feel. Even at the gym everyone is glum. Wading through slush and mud is a bit of a downer. Could be worse. Great weather for hobbies like knitting. Ha ha. I don't mind the rain as long as I am inside nice and dry. Looked after my neighbour's two whilst she rushed the other littlie to A and E{ She had split her head open, as children do when they fall. okay now }Poor girl was having to use the drier every day because with 3 kids and all the rain. Plus she has a dog, 5 cats and at last count 13 rabbits. Glad I am over all that. Ha ha.

Hi there What a week! I feel like I am chasing my tail at present. Mamma mia was so great!!!! I want the DVD now. It's a have to see really it is. Just today and tomorrow in this current job now and then it's all on in the new one from Monday. Can't wait now, in the middle of both is driving me nuts. Baby B is 10lbs now so I guess he has figured out breast is best hehe!

grizzly4 - 2008-07-31 09:04:00
1165

Cool that you enjoyed Mamma mia grizzly I am so glad that little guy is doing so well. I am babysitting and I just got her to sleep. It is full on when she is awake. She reaches out for me now. Sigh and always gives me big grins when I come over to the house to see her. The weather is still the same and we are supposed to be getting concrete poured onto the floor in the lounge of the cottage on Sat. The floor needs to be built up level before we can do anything else. Ah well whatever!!!! I am quite philosophical about the whole process now. Wonder why Ha ha. Yes you will know where you are once you have finished one job and are just focusing on the other grizzly. Where are you smartgirl?

makerealbany - 2008-07-31 13:45:00
1166

Concrete going down tomorrow Still need to move a chest and sweep the floors then do a bit of preparation before the concrete truck arrives at 10 tomorrow. Progress yah!!!!! Did not knit a stitch last night so I am going to do some serious knitting tonight. My fingers are positively itching Ha ha. Found another box of wool in the shifting around. It is funny how you buy something and then forget about it but understandable when you are renovating. Well that is my excuse anyway. Lol.

makerealbany - 2008-08-01 18:55:00
1167

Thank goodness for handcrafts! Keeping me sane (or trying to). Have just about finished a wee fairisle jersey for the shop but S wants it for baby B! On last page of cross-stitch of 1yr old L, very please with it so far. have to find really good photos of other grandsons to do the same.

grizzly4 - 2008-08-02 11:15:00
1168

That is really nice that S wants it for baby B. That cross stitch of yours sounds really interesting grizzly. Concrete is down but water to cottage is off until concrete drys out a bit. Hope it is on later on tonight. I am babysitting for neighbours tonight. They live down the bottom of us and the driveway is slippery and very long. I am getting them to pick me up and drive me home because I cannot risk a fall and I really dislike walking down that driveway in this weather. I am taking my knitting with me to do once the 3 littlies are settled for the night.

makerealbany - 2008-08-02 16:40:00
1169

Will the concrete take longer to cure with it being so cold? At least it's one step closer to the dream cottage! Had to pick up some wool for a TM sale but S was with me and came home with more wool for B as well. I don't think I'm going to make my fortune in the shop this season. Both the wee ones were wearing my knits yesterday. Gave me warm fuzzies!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-03 10:45:00
1170

Yes the concrete is fine We can walk on part of it now. C working in there today. I am getting more excited now. Still got to seal the concrete etc but we are getting there. I am laughing about the wool buying. It is really nice to see your family wearing all your hard work. Did not get a chance to knit last night. The 3 children kept me on my toes ha ha. Dayla my tabby cat is hiding somewhere because of the work in the cottage. She will come out of the bush tonight when she gets hungry.

makerealbany - 2008-08-03 15:06:00
1171

Yes Dayla was out as soon as it was dark Went to watch my granddaughter play soccer for her school today and it was wet(no surprise there) and windy. We froze even with all the woolies on as well as the gumboots. After the game we raced to the gym to warm up. An hour later we had a nice lunch and I came alive again. Ha ha. How are you smartgirl?

makerealbany - 2008-08-04 19:02:00
1172

Hi Makereal, I am ok, I have been feeling a bit down since my daughter went back home, I miss her but the other 2 kids have been great, my son has fixed my leaky roof and cleaned my carpet and my son in law has taken my car away to get gear box serviced. I have a very sore throat and chest today. Glad your cottage is coming along. I will be great by summer.

smartgirl - 2008-08-04 22:37:00
1173

HI there buddy I can understand that feeling. I used to weep buckets when my kids went back and still do although my last one will be back in NZ for a couple of years from next January. I did miss my girl more though and my grandchildren. I had a leaky roof in the cottage but S fixed that last week. It wasn't too bad. Roll on Summer. Winter does knock people around a bit.

makerealbany - 2008-08-05 20:00:00
1174

Thanks makereal, I think I feel worse cause I have the flu and all that goes with it. Had to cancel my mri on monday cause I cough every time I lie down. How did your scaves go.

smartgirl - 2008-08-06 07:17:00
1175

grizzly, if your boy keeps that up he will be bigger than my one year old before you know it. she is just a wee dot. well done your daughter and that goodness the specialists dont always know what everyting.

smartgirl - 2008-08-06 07:19:00
1176

Wee B didn't have a great day yesterday. His Mum is sick with the 'flu and not feeling on top of things at present. It's so hard when that happens, eh? She's putting off the antibiotics 'cos of her feeding him but may not have a choice soon. I know which I would prefer between a bottle or a sick Mum.
I'm back on prednisone myself this week and hubby along with me. Everyone I know has this dreadful cough. How disappointing about your mri, smartgirl, will you have to wait long to reschedule?
Makerealbany, my cats all go into hiding in our bed when grandchildren arrive. At least I know where to find them. But they are back in the lounge as soon as they hear the car leave down the drive. Really funny.

grizzly4 - 2008-08-06 09:02:00
1177

You poor sick girls I am feeling really good and it is my birthday so I am being spoilt. Yes grizzly because if Mum does not get rid of the flu, bubs will get it and what is worse? My cat Dayla is still bolting to the bush all day and coming back at night. We have treescape trimming trees on the front of the property and she hates chainsaws and all the racket. What a shame you missed your MRI scan smartgirl but you cannot keep still when you are coughing. It is bad enough keeping still with a bad back for the scan. Hope they reschedule quickly.

The scarves are to be used for the next fundraising because they had so many donations. Made 5000 for the trivial pursuit night with the auction included.

1179

Got some Debbie Bliss books from the library yesterday. She has some interesting patterns. Have either of you knitted any of her patterns?

makerealbany - 2008-08-07 10:38:00
1180

I did a lot from her books when master 16 and miss 11 were little. She does have some amazing talent. I recently sold one of her books on here. Her patterns are quite timeless, but often on the big size. I just used standard wool.

smartgirl - 2008-08-07 10:58:00
1181

Thanks for that smartgirl I thought they were a generous sizing which is okay for our fat babies.

Happy Birthday for the 6th!! Sorry I missed it, makeralbany! Things are becoming a bit more normal around here. Even starting to work my normal hours at work again although so many people away sick it's hard to get started properly on my new job. Daughter's birthday today so they are all here tonight for tea. Lucky hubby is into preparing all the food. Real role reversal going on at present haha. They have decided to redo his knee surgery then maybe a joint replacement if that doesn't work. ACC are looking at retraining as it doesn't look as if he is going to be able to go back to the big trucks. I am so excited about my cross-stitch. I've only got to do his wee face and it will be finished. Maybe get it done over the weekend if I do nothing else!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-08 09:25:00
1183

I am so sorry Makereal, it shows I only read half of what is written. I was in a hurry and only quickly scanned the page. Well I hope you had a lovely day and many more of them. Have a lovely evening grizzly.

smartgirl - 2008-08-08 20:25:00
1184

Hi girls Just got home from a restaurant in Parnell. Went there for my eldest daughters birthday. So our girls are both Leos. We had a lovely meal and had to get all dressed up so it was a great night out. Staying the night with my uni grandson as his Dad has been taken out by no 3 son and partner. It will do him the world of good to get out of this flat. I knew once we got him to the restaurant he would get in the mood to socialize. Ha ha. Thanks for the birthday wishes girls. Gosh things are jumping in your house grizzly. Hubby will miss his trucks but maybe it will give him the chance to do something else he would like to do.

makerealbany - 2008-08-08 23:25:00
1185

Lovely evening last night. Hubby did a superb job with all the food, all I had to do was walk in from work to wonderful foody smells and hugs from the boys. Great stuff. I just have to figure out how to get the other adults to get off their backsides to help with the dishes after!!!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-09 10:07:00
1186

That seems to be the case When you have to cook the meal. We generally say "No you guys cooked so we will clean up" and that guilts everyone to get off their butts and help. ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-08-09 13:54:00
1187

Nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail to get them off their seats is there. If you eat it and didnt cook it I think you should help clean up.

smartgirl - 2008-08-09 14:25:00
1188

Absolutely agree with you both! Certainly never got away with it when I was young!!! My daughter makes a deal if she brings dessert she gets out of the dishes. Don't mind that at all but I don't think I have ever seen her partner pick up a tea towel and my son is as bad although he cleared the table on Friday without being asked. With his partner you never can tell which way it will go on the night!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-10 10:53:00
1189

When my kids were little we used to go to my mil before she died and there were 4 kids and their partners and she did all the cooking and us 4 girls did the clean up. Never did the guys do it. But we made them look after the kids while we did. There is no such thing as a free lunch

smartgirl - 2008-08-10 12:22:00
1190

Yes everyone has to help My daughter in laws both help out and the boys have to as well. In this day and age with women having to work as well as raise their families the guys have to do housework and their share of minding the kids. No 3 son had to do all the dishes every day and S does the cooking so last week a new dishwasher was installed. Ha ha. Clever girl that S she wanted a dishwasher and she had a really good strategy. Ha ha. I luv her to bits she is a lovely girl and a great stepmum to my grandson Master 4 nearly 5. He adores her. She is so patient with him.

makerealbany - 2008-08-10 13:44:00
1191

Hi girls What a nice day it was today. Managed to get some mending done although I was babysitting. My grandsons always wear their jeans out at the cuffs because they drag along the ground then I have to cut them off and re-hem them. Tried to get them to let me take the hems up when they first buy them but that would be sacrilege. Dah!!!!

makerealbany - 2008-08-11 18:27:00
1192

It's the way they wear them low riding them under their bum!!! Crazy trend that one. Have finished another wee cardy for baby B. Only have the facial features of the cross stitch to do. On a roll now!!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-12 09:49:00
1193

You are on a roll Iam still knitting my grandson's jersey which of course has so many colours and this is the first time I have knitted from graphs so it is slow and steady. ha ha. Have to keep checking my tension so as not to pucker. Got my cross stitch just laying there untouched. Sigh. Have to go to a nursery with my SIL this morning they are having a closing down sale. 70% off and he is not at all okay with selections so my girl said I have to go as well. Then this arvo have to go to uni to meet my grandson's chemistry one on one tutor. Busy as usual.

makerealbany - 2008-08-12 10:42:00
1194

Ranchslider went into the cottage today Progress is wonderful. Finished the back and front of THE jersey. LOL. Starting the sleeves tonight. Not as difficult. Thank heavens. Babysat little M R today. She is still teething but is a gem to look after. Smiles and talks the whole time. She had a big nap after her swimming so she was really active this arvo. Can roll but not crawl yet.

makerealbany - 2008-08-13 17:08:00
1195

Great news about the progress on your cottage! I am still working towards finishing my cross stitch but have started a prem outfit for the shop and a teddy bears outfit as well. And still coughing after 10 days on prednisone!!!!

grizzly4 - 2008-08-14 08:51:00
1196

Gee that is not good grizzly My girlfriend swears by prednisone but I only had it once. Had a bad reaction to it.You are really buzzing along with your handcrafts. I am very jealous but everything is so busy at this time. It will slow down next week. I hope.

makerealbany - 2008-08-14 14:05:00
1197

Off to my mates tomorrow She is not too good so will spend a night with her. Hope it stops raining for the trip. Everything is so waterlogged but at lest we don't have snow. What about you grizzly?

makerealbany - 2008-08-15 20:16:00
1198

grizzly you should be feeling better than you are on those drugs. I hope you are by now. makereal, have a good break away and have some fun with your friend. Drive carefully.

smartgirl - 2008-08-15 23:12:00
1199

hi grizzly, how are you feeling today. I am hoping the drugs have kicked in for you. If not y ou may have to revisit the dr as you should be feeling heaps better.

smartgirl - 2008-08-17 10:46:00
1200

Thank you ladies Yes I am feeling better. The cough is no where like it was last week but not quite gone either. The lovely sunny weekend probably did me more good than the drugs haha!
I finished my cross stitch and framed it. Really pleased with it so will photo it for you guys to see over the next day or so. Sons birthday yesterday so everyone was here for tea again. Lo & behold they helped with the clean up!!
