I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

morning ladies :) We have a new guy at WINZ and he suggested that maybe if I want a permanent teaching position we should move to Auckland! Ummm... have you seen the rat race up there? And we would never be able to afford a house there, why should we sell our home here to get into more debt? He couldn't see my logic. But we have come to an understanding now.

I really enjoyed my first yoga lesson and felt so good at the end of it. Some of the stretching was hard work and I felt my back click a few times. But it's not sore so I must have done something right. Will definitely be going back. And I had the best nights sleep for ages last night so it was worth it just for that!

I have a few things to get done today before I can pick up the needles.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, overcast and looking like rain isn't too far away today. No walk for me today - I'm staying home this morning waiting for the courier to arrive - not a squishy parcel I'm afraid - but a very important one. Before Paul returned to Sydney he phoned the mechanic who had bastardized my outboard motor, and at first the mechanic denied all knowledge of it and kept telling Paul to shut up, but Paul remained calm and when he said "firstly the needle valve is missing from the carb, secondly there is a washer in the carb that doesn't belong there, thirdly the spindle has been snapped off etc - by the time he got to "fifthly" the mechanic had backed down and apologised and said he would order the parts. The motor was running perfectly when Mr K sent it over to Russell but it wasn't putting water through to cool it, so it probably needed a new impellor. When it came back it wasn't going - how could it with the carb having been robbed. The mechanic sent me a text yesterday and said the parts would be here this morning, so I'm staying in till they arrive.

I'm making progress with the new owl blanket, but I'm not sure I need to do it as big as I had planned. I will do some more squares and then decide.

Had a phone call yesterday from the chap who runs the market and I've got a spot for Saturday and Sunday - there's a country rock festival on starts Friday and goes through till Sunday afternoon so the town should be busy, also there's a Mother's Day fun run/walk which I had planned to enter till I found the entry fee is $40 for which you get a "free" t-shirt. Er, thanks, but no thanks.

Hope the courier will be here early enough so I can go to knitting but if not, I will just wait for him.

Some of the WINZ staff are unreal - my mum would describe them as "trained by Hitler!". Why on earth would anyone want to move to Auckland, everyone I know who lives there can't wait to move away.

Have a super day everyone.

Good morning Jayemtoo, You do understand what I meant, I have done all the crafty things someone suggested, but have ended up with knitting, I think you knit for charity is that right, I have thought of that though I knitted for the Russian orphans not so long ago. I do have an I-pad and computer like you do. I find them very enjoyable but lately I am having trouble downloading a good UK book can't get into USA ones. Have a great day.

Morning everyone
The clouds have gone now, so looks like a nice day.

I finished my cushion last night. Its very plump, but I didnt want to add any more rounds to it.. Its only for decoration so it wont matter.

So I officially dont have anything on my hook.

winz workers are Precious arent they.. lol NOT. I remember years ago beofre I got my first job the guy at winz told me Id probably spend my life on the dole. I had 3 months to wait till my job started, so chose to get the dole so I could at least pay board.. I said to him, well its just as well there are people who need the Dole etc, or you too would be out of a job. Smug little chit he was.

My plans for the day, I dont have any lol. Yay.. lol...

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all - another lovely morning
My battle with Winz is ridiculous - I have told them months ago to forget the claim for $60 for some super drug that the person at Winz has decided the specialist shouldn't have prescribed - yesterday when she called she wanted a bank statement dated the day MrG died ! If staff like her were not wasting time they could put more people on answering the blimmin phone
Heard back from Love Knitting overnight - they finally concede my first order has gone missing - not their fault - and the second one came in two lots which I have received so I was hoping I was going to get a third parcel but no ! I started last night - I know I should finish the doll - but didn't get far as I needed the colour that is missing on row 3 - the hook is 6.5 its huge
I watch tv while Knitting or crocheting and spend quite a bit of time on my iPad looking on ravelry and Pinterest - I read a lot and my newly found dog walking takes up a couple of hours every day - thinking about it I can't say I get bored but I am also very lucky have people popping in and out

Hello Jayemtoo,
Don't think the last message went through, I have done most of the crafts mentioned on this page, but love knitting the best, I do have a computer and I-pad so should not be too bored.
Do you knit for charity, I did do lots of knitting for the Russian orphans
Have a great day

Yes I've done other crafts but somehow always come back to the knitting.
Sometimes I wonder what we did before computers etc., I use mine for reading the papers, keeping up with other family members, searching Ravelry etc etc. I justified getting an iPad as a place for storing knitting patterns which I do but didn't think I would use it for so much else.

Yes Stellaw I knit for charity when I can fit it in. I am not one to accrue a stash of wool, partly not enough space but also like getting new wool for a specific project so I use up left over wool on baby things which I usually give to a couple of health centres in lower socioeconomic areas. I think every baby deserves something new to wear.

morning ladies :) It's going to be a bleak day here, perfect for knitting. But first I've had an idea for drama so will work on that lesson today. It involves a Roald Dhal story so the kids should (fingers crossed!) 'get into' it. Just hoping I still have the book the story is in and haven't given it back to our daughter.

I've started the second sleeve to the hoodie, you only knit up to the armpits then the whole thing is knitted together to form the yolk and hood. Thank goodness for circular needles when knitting lots of stitches. I put a rubber stopper on one end of the needles so I don't loose stitches. Must admit I have not been enjoying this pattern. I hate the tangle of yarns behind my knitting and I just can't seem to get my tension right.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Ronald Dahl should be fun to do Kiwimade, kids love his quirky story telling. Was reading one of his to a 7yr old last year and he was due to go home so i ended up reading it to him while we had a picnic In a park, a couple of gardeners were taking quite a while to do the garden near us while listening to my reading!
What a lot of too-ing and fro-ing over that order Gerry you will be relieved when it all finally gets sorted.
Got the yellow wool so will make a start on that later today.

Morning Everyone.
Rather warm here, I had the fan on from about 6am. Light misty rain.

Going to nick up to do the shopping and come home. Dont need anything extra so dont need to look.

I started a headband yesterday.. A mock up but Ive done it in cream incase it turns out good and I wont need ti undo it lol... Just a strip to go around my head, covering my ears but not the top of my head. I checked a few out on ravelry and pinterest. And thats as far as my pattern goes, I might put a flower on it, but Ill see.

I spent many hours yesterday whitling through all the photos I have on here and my phone... Got rid of heaps.

Had two more parcels arrive yesterday.. i kind of feel guilty cos I send acrylic cos thats what I have, but people are sending me some Lovely Yarns. I now have two of the Lincraft Cakes which are really cool. I plan on attempting to knit again and see if I can make the shawl on the wool band.

So pleased your order is going to be sorted Gerry, mine with Deramores took ages to sort out, cos I had christmas and new Year in the middle too.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, rather damp here but not cold enough to put the heat pump on. No plans much for today other than grocery shopping and hope to get as much done on the owl blanket as I can. I have still got about 8 owl squares to do, but I have made the eyes and sewn them on five squares, all the plain squares are done - some ends still to be sewn in though. I'm hoping I can join them tomorrow and (or maybe even make a start this afternoon) and then I have to do an edging. Hoping to have it done by Saturday (or finish it at the market).

Going up to one of the neighbours this evening for a "girls movie evening". Should be fun.

I must have been lucky, I've never had any problems with Deramores or Loveknitting orders.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all - grey old day here today but no rain yet so will take the dog for a quick walk
Yes I am over this Love Knitting drams - but have made a start and it is going to look like the colours of the sea - but am up to the row of the missing colour
Popeye I had to give up knitting because of the pain in my wrists but was persuaded to use my circular needles and because they are so short and light now have no problems at all - don't have to knit in the round
Thinking about things I think my iPad and circular needles have become very important tools in my life now
Coffee machine is telling me to get off here and use it so it can stop that blimmin annoying beeping !

gerry64 - 2017-05-11 09:54:00
11915

Overcast and its not far off raining here. Glad you have found a pattern for the shawl Popeye. Look forward to seeing it. Use circular knitting needles. I use them just about all the time.
So far when I have ordered wool I have had no problems. If I order from England I use my UK account and sometimes send it to family first as they like to add some bites and pieces
Gerry, I do hope you get it sorted out and your wool finally gets here.

Early start this morning as the school had a link this morning from Scotland. A former teacher is over there at present. Children enjoyed seeing and hearing from her as well as the teachers.Reading program is coming along slowly as not all the new material has arrived.

Not sure what I am doing today depends on Mr S.
Need to look out some material a group of us are making up toilet bags for the St Johns. They give them out to people who are taken into hospitals when needed.
Knitting is sadly sitting in it bag on a chair in the craft room at present. By the end of the week I will pick it up again..
We have a Craft Market this weekend in Napier, as its just down the road may take a walk down to. it.Friend has the w/end and is showing interest in going.
Keep dry and warm everyone. Great day for Crafting.

morning ladies :) It's bucketing down here today so another 'indoor' day. Will do the housework and then finish this hoodie. I need to buy an open ended zip although I am wondering if I could put toggles on instead as our grandie can't quite get the hang of zips yet. Will have a chat to her mum about it.

The yoke (yep, I spelt it wrong yesterday lol) is striped and I am reducing stitches every second round for the raglan sleeves so it's knitting up quite quickly. Funny how knitting stripes gives the illusion of faster knitting for me.

Right, time to turf the Furry One outside to do his business.... he's been sitting at his doggy door wanting to go out but not wanting to get wet. Told him I wasn't holding an umbrella over him while he went!

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Sure is wet here would have loved to stay put this am but had to do school breakfast. The other lady didn't turn up but had many willing helpers - well until the cleaning up stage and then not quite as keen!

Started the yelllow jersey but looked too big and loose on the recommended needles so pulled undone and doing on a size smaller which looks a lot better. I'm the opposite to. You Kiwimade my rows are getting longer - it is a top down pattern and a 6yr old size.

jayemtoo - 2017-05-12 08:53:00
11918

Morning ladies, no walk this morning - too cold and wet. I couldn't see out of the windows when I got up, the outsides were covered in "stuff" - no idea what, it had obviously rained and been blowing in the night, so not sure if it is salt from the sea or pollen, anyway another heavy shower and the windows are almost see-through again.

Looks like the weather is going to be miserable for the Country Rock music festival which starts I think at midday today and goes through till Sunday afternoon - maybe some of the visitors will decide to pay the craft market a visit and spend some money - here's hoping.

I still have a few owl squares to do for the blanket I was hoping to finish for tomorrow, but if I don't get it done, I will take it along and finish it there. I always take something along to do, and I can finish it there just as easily as at home.

Apart from a quick tidy up and vacuuming the floors, I have no plans to do anything or go anywhere today. I was going to go to the Friday session of knit and natter but looking at the weather I've changed my mind.

Have a super day everyone.

Monring everyone. Been raining constantly since lunchtime yesterday. I imagine there could be flooding in the paddocks. Not cold tho, its nice.

Ive always thought that knitting stripes feels like you knit faster Kiwimade.

I have to go out in this weather, but I love walking in the rain.. Have a few things to do so I will be a wet bunny by the time I get home. And will love every minute of it lol.

Still working on my headband thing, havent measured it for a while but I cant be too far from the length I want. Might make a flower or two to put on it too.

Our house lady will be here later... So Id better hustle my butt. Get a few things done on here before I go

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all - have told Ash no walk this morning - he did a quick u turn when I opened the door for him to go out to the loo but is his sitting by the door into the internal garage because it is about time we would go to the park
Had another call from Winz yesterday about my fraudulent claim for a medicine not on their list - so decided to take myself off to the Winz office to sort it - silky move - she could give me no logical reason why they can't act on my letter or the specialists letter saying neither of us had any idea it wasn't on THE list - know wonder they have security on the doors - the amount of time they have wasted on this $60 is laughable
Yes I too find knitting stripes seems to grow fast -
Waste disposal is blocked and now my iPad is repeating one song instead of going through the list of songs - think I might go back to bed!

gerry64 - 2017-05-12 10:18:00
11921

I really am starting to think these blankets for the two granddaughters are not meant to be made - the yarn for Aimee's has just turned up they have sent Aran cotton instead of acrylic ! Just noticed except for one colour it is acrylic !

gerry64 - 2017-05-12 15:04:00
11922

morning ladies :) Blimmen heck Gerry, that order must be jinxed! When they muck it up, they do it properly!

Just a couple of rows to do on the band and stitch the side seams up and the hoodie is finished. Can't say it's my best work, just couldn't get into knitting it. And I thought the pattern would be fun to do too.

I have enough yarn left over to knit our grandson a jumper too so will dig out a pattern later today. First though I'll strip the bed and get out into the garden. The phlox and other annuals need pruning back and lawns need mowing. I'm working for most of next week and next weekend will be pretty busy so this weekend is my last chance for a while to get it done. At least the weather is fine!

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2017-05-13 08:19:00
11923

Morning
Well rain has stopped and it can stay that way for a while now as far as I am concerned.
Gerry It almost looks like whoever is sorting out your order is having a competition to see how many ways an order can be messed up!!

Up to dividing for sleeves on the jersey so that will be 110 less stitches to knit each round.
Going to do odd jobs today - those things which get delayed until "I find the time" like sewing on buttons on the baby things and cutting back some bushes etc. I'll see how much gets done unless I get side tracked in not the knitting again lol.

Enjoy your day Everyone

jayemtoo - 2017-05-13 08:28:00
11924

Morning everyone.
What a change in the weather, you could feel the temp drop overnight.

Im in the Office today.. Its time to brave the jammed up corner. I need to see if the drapes are in there, and Im sure we have another telephone lead somewhere. Plus its been the dumping ground for a few weeks . I will enjoy doing it tho lol.
Had another bag of wool arrive yesterday, as odd as this sounds, its kinda overwhelming me a bit. But I do have some lovely yarns.

Still struggling with getting used to the new neighbours.. Have said hello once. But OMG I swear their car has 10 doors and they open and close all of them everytime they go out. lol.. its taking a bit longer to get used to thats for sure. Eventually we wont notice it.
But other than that they are quiet (quite shy I think) and they are keeping the lawns done and the place tidy so it makes a change.

Right Ill get a few things done on here and then go hide in the craft room and play

Good luck for the Market today Kuaka

Have a fab day all

popeye333 - 2017-05-13 09:40:00
11925

Morning - chilly breezy day - no dog walking today have got a touch of gout ouch
This is a new order they have messed up - the first two are still not resolved because the wool that I was short they now tell me has been out of stock for 3 weeks so the shortfall will come from USA in about 3 weeks - this lot I received yesterday is the yarn for the second granddaughters blanket - must say the cotton feels lovely - will have to pay to send it back which they will refund - but if I wait until they credit my account for the return and then reorder it will be nearly Xmas!
My Mum is being interviewed this morning by an author writing a book on 6 100 year olds in NZ - she still has a few months to go hope she isn't counting her chickens before they hatch as she would say!
Know what you mean about car door slamming Popeye one of our neighbours is diabolical
Not sure what's on the agenda today at the moment it feels like won't be much

gerry64 - 2017-05-13 10:00:00
11926

Just had a look at the cotton thinking well maybe one in cotton - but there is only half the metres in a ball - so instead of $136 for a blanket in acrylic it would be over $250 - it will be going back!

gerry64 - 2017-05-13 10:09:00
11927

Good morning everyone! Yes it is a chilly day here in Napier. Off later today to the Craft Show with a friend. Looking forward to it after the last 30 odd hours
Did a shop at the local s/market Thursday and left my wallet in the trolley so spend a lot of my Friday sorting out what I needed to replace and put stops on other cards etc, etc....So far not one has handed it in either to the store or police.
Did my ironing last night while I watched .A place to call home and Coro Street. No knitting or weaving. Have had a piece on my loom for a while now, It will get finished.
Enjoy your day everyone and I hope you all get some knitting done as well.

sunflowers28 - 2017-05-13 10:43:00
11928

The Furry One and I have mowed the lawns, the sou'wester is chilly but I ended up stripping off to jeans and t shirt while mowing. I snuck in the last couple of rows on the band while I had a cuppa earlier on so now to sew the seams and put in the zip (when I buy one next week). It doesn't look so bad now it is almost finished but it won't be a pattern I'll be in a hurry to repeat.

I should find some time to practice my yoga stretches, I did them yesterday and the day before and felt great.

kiwimade64 - 2017-05-13 12:41:00
11929

Afternoon ladies, certainly colder today - I'm home from the market (wish I could say it was a roaring success - but it wasn't - I sold one "rasta" beanie to an old lady, and when I say "old" - she must have been 80 if she was a day! I suggested that she might prefer an "ordinary" one but she said she didn't want to be "ordinary" and her daughter said "nobody could ever accuse you of being ordinary mum" - I had to laugh). But that was my one and only sale. Back there tomorrow so hoping for a better day, but at least we didn't have to bring everything home and then set up again in the morning.

I've just lit the fire and little puss has found her place in front of it already. Going to sit and have a glass of red then cook tea.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening.

kuaka - 2017-05-13 16:43:00

Ohh dear Kuaka, not a great day then.

MrP has cold hands, hes reckons we need the heater on... Hes sitting there without slippers and only has a singlet on under an old cardy... He will stay cold until he thinks I will give in and get the heater out.. I wont be. Its cool but not cold.

I have spent the bulk of the day sorting the craft room, didnt find the curtains I thought I had made, so Im hoping there is enough fabric left on the roll.. Found the tape too... Managed to get the wool that I was given at easter into the pantries and drawers.. very little room left in them. So the lotto yarn will have to stay in the container Im putting it in now.

Kiwimade I found an bright orange Paintbox ball of wool, if its the same one, the hoodie will be lovely and bright.

Found taspestry cottons that I have no idea where they came from. And also got my cross stitch kit out that Ive wanted to do for years. But my eyes just cannot cope with such small print. even with my new glasses. So im going to list it.. It would cost a fortune to get it made for me cos its 60 x 30 cms.
So its been a lovely productive day...

Have a great night everyone

Morning
Happy Mother's Day to those who are mums out there.
What a worry losing your wallet Sunflowers.
Hope the market goes better for you Kuaka.
What an afternoon we had yesterday. Sister had hired a truck to collect some heavy stuff for the factory and managed to get it stuck in the soft part of the paddock from all the rain we have been having. Despite putting bags and things under the wheels it wouldn't come out. We ended up having to unload it by hand where it was including 1/2 ton of powdered fertiliser, We put it into smaller bags until we could drag the rest off the back of the truck and have left it there overnight. It was dark by then. Finally a wonderful AA man came and gave the truck a pull and it came unstuck fortunately it was only on the edge of the soft stuff. Then AA man said it was the third "un sticking" he had done in the past couple of days.

It's a beautiful day today so things can dry up again. In no hurry to get going today. Be a nice day to potter in the garden later I think then some knitting.
Have a great day

morning ladies :) Started typing and then the phone went for a mothers day call and I lost everything lol.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there.

What a pain in the proverbial sunflowers, it can also be expensive toreplace cards and drivers license

Sounds like a lot of hard work to move everything jayemtoo, and thank goodness for the AA.

I've finished knitting and sewing up the hoodie, just need a zip and a quick blocking. And I've enough yarn to knit our grandson a wee hoodie too.

Happy mothers and grandmothers day.

A frost here this morning I think. Going to be a lovely day tho.

It is a pain losing your wallet. My friend had to replace all hers, and sadly it wasnt long after she had just renewed her license.

Finished my headband last night, its practicle if nothing else lol...

Missy hopped up on my lap between me and the lappy, so I took that as her wanting my knee. so turned off the comp and had barely put my feet up and she was up on my knee lol... Bossy baggage.

Am going to potter with some different crafts today for a change.

Love the hoody Kiwimade, its cool and bright.

Have a good day everyone

Happy Mother's Day - crisp start to the day here with a beautiful sunny blue sky-
was supposed to be going out to one of the upmarket wineries for lunch but I have gout and I don't think the barefoot look would be appropriate out there ! Bad news for the dog as well no stroll in the dog park either
The little baby was born last night who dolly is for - so I better get cracking on that - she is 6 weeks early but is just over 6lbs and is perfectly healthy so that's fantastic - the mum is a cancer survivor so it really is a miracle
Sympathise with the lost wallet sunflower just losing my licence was bad enough
Love the hoodie kiwimade
Was just going to put some stuff away in the pantry my son brought thought it was a packet of soup in a cup but it is cake in a cup - 90 sec in the microwave and it's done - whatever next !

morning ladies :) Thanks for the comments about the hoodie, I'll buy a zip today and it can be sent off to our granddaughter.

We woke this morning to the Furry One vomiting, looks like he's eaten something that has upset his tummy. But can't see what he could have eaten as we don't leave anything out for him thanks to the mice who visit us from time to time. He's got the shakes and is very clingy (as he usually is when off colour) so I suspect it will be a trip to the vet. I'm hoping it has nothing to do with his epilepsy but it's not a seizure as we know it. We'll keep an eye on him for a bit and make a decision later in the morning when the vet is open.

I've started using the left over hoodie yarn for our grandson. It sure is quick knitting in doubleknit for a seven month old.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, Oh no, poor Bandit. I hope he's okay.

I had a better day at the market yesterday (actually my best day for a while) and am booked in again for Wednesday - but that will only be if the ship arrives - it's the last one for the "summer season" and the forecast is for rubbish weather. It was cold all day in the hall but was lovely and warm and sunny outside. We tried to put the heat pumps on but they would only pump out cold air, as they were set on "cool" and there was nothing on the remote control to change the setting. Weird. So we turned them off again.

Finished my owl blanket and it was much admired but sadly I still have it.

No walk this morning as I'm at the op shop at 10, I was still in bed when the neighbour messaged asking was I going. Had to say no, not today. Hope to tomorrow if the weather is okay.

Time to get organised.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone

Ohh poor Furry One.. Hope he improves Kiwimade, not nice when our babies are unwell.
Glad you had a better day at the market Kuaka.

Was chilly enough here last night that I put nthe electric blanket on. But overcast here now and not cold.
Ive put a huge piece of hogget in the crockpot. I wasnt sure it would fit, but it did Just. Thats for my tea and frozen dinners. MrP has decided he doesnt want to eat any more. So Ill slice it up and cover with gravy. He is having his Pork trotters, yuck lol.

I did a wee sample of double crochet last night. Really chuffed... So Ill be playing around with that again today. I have some cotton that I was given so might make a red dishcloth .

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all - nippy start but going to be a nice day I think - still hobbling with the gout so might just take ash for a drive in the car - he is starting to get cabin fever - hope your little bloke is OK kiwimade
Good to hear you had a better market day Kuaka - a friend and I used to make soap and sell at a country market - often we sold very little but it was always an interesting day
you have reminded me Popeye I have a bacon hock to go in my crockpot
Have just emailed Love Knitting the oldest order had 2 balls missing - they turned up this morning - have been sent from a USA on 23/3 but has 2 lollipops in the parcel -I wonder if that held it up in customs -but the other that is missing was never sent - they can see that from their records evidently - the cotton they sent in error is lovely but it's going back
Started assembling the doll yesterday - didn't get far

Morning
Hope the Furry One is over what ever he had by now.

You could almost write a book on how orders go wrong Gerry - not sure if it would be a best seller but it would be quite a big one following all the errors you have had lately!

We finished off getting the stuff into the factory yesterday, it was such a glorious day out in the country and didn't seem a big effort after all compared with trying to rush it as dark approached the day before.

Supposedly doing the much neglected housework today - have done the bedrooms and toilet but now side tracked again! Have to go to supermarket and library today too so better not procrastinate too long.

well it was a vet visit and $216.87 later he is still pretty quiet but not vomiting. We have no idea what brought it on so will just keep him as quiet as we can for now and feed him bland food. Am pleased we did go to the vet though as I'm teaching the rest of the week and will have the car so no way for MrK to get him into the vets.

I bought a zip for the hoodie so that will go in this afternoon and buttons for the wee hoody I'm knitting for our grandson. If I can get his one knitted quickly they can both be sent off at the same time.

well done on the crochet stitch popeye, it's easy once you know how!

Have to move, MrK needs my help in the laundry, he's making a shelf thingy for me to hang my mop, ironing board and other laundry things I have squeezed between the washing machine and a cupboard. And he's putting a new shelf in the cupboard for me so I can keep the iron and window karcher in there too. Finally getting the storage sorted for this house.

Morning everyone,
No rain as yet, but I think we will have some before the days end.

Have to nip up the road this morning. Then when I get home I really need to find something to make. Trouble is I have too many choices.

I might try this sort of woven wool and see if I can knit again without paining the arm. Its in brown and cream tones and will make a lovely scarf. I imagine it will have to be plain or you wouldnt see a pattern.

And Ill have a wee tutu with circular needles before I start tho. Just for straight knitting, a few ladies have said that it helps them with their bad shoulders.

Hope everyone is well.

Have a fab day

Morning all - beautiful here again - washing out but will no doubt need a hand to get properly dry as it is not going to be very warm by the feel of it
Yes Popeye I had to stop knitting until somebody suggested the circular needles and my wrists are now fine - can knit for ages
Well I have gone from wool order disasters to now a rat in the internal garage which could very easily mean rats in the house - I thought I heard something a couple of times but then on Friday saw evidence - Robie put poison out and it kept on disappearing - this is a new build so they shouldn't be able to get in - well just discovered how they are getting in - the cat door is open ! Thank goodness I heard it in the garage if it had disappeared upstairs could have caused mayhem up there -somebody in this neighbourhood poisoned al the cats over the summer the neighbours tell me this is the worst year for rats they can remember YUK
Hope your little bloke is better this morning kiwimade

Morning ladies, went for my walk this morning for the first time in over a week, just me and one other neighbour, the other neighbour who has been going with us had a fall yesterday and skinned her knee and hurt her bum - well she didn't so much as fall as her dog yanked on the lead and pulled her off the seat she was sitting on!

I didn't have a terribly good day yesterday - felt a bit "bleh" all day - a flat battery day as popeye would call it. Worked at the op shop in the morning, went out for lunch and then walked home (it's uphill) and then in the evening went to the club for the membership draw which I didn't win, had one frame of snooker which I won (very surprisingly) and came home.

And finished the day off with this:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/592947713.jpg

A little bit annoyed as it was empty, I was just putting it on the bench and I clipped it on the edge of the bench. It was my favourite one and the only one I had, so if anyone has any blue wine glasses they would like to list, please let me know.

I have a rat keeps coming in the kitchen cupboard under the sink and leaving his calling card. He must be mighty hungry because he has chewed the lid off a new tub of bait. Puss sits with her nose against the cupboard door and her tail gets all big and fluffy and she thrashes it around. I guess I will have to set a trap - I hate setting rat traps, nasty things.

Right, cup of coffee then get ready to go out. Want to get a pair of fingerless gloves finished for the market tomorrow so will have to try to stay awake this evening - dozed off last night.

Have a super day everyone.

The mice have finally stopped visiting here. I had bait in two cupboards. And I bunged the doors with toilet paper so Missy couldnt get in them.
The bait hasnt got any smaller in nearly a week, so Id say that particular group are done.

Ive been knitting straight on some circulars, just getting the plastic to stay out of the way was tricky to start with. I think I might hang a peg on it to keep it down for me. Will watch some tutorials to see how to do it in the round.

Ohh bother Kuaka, its horrible when you break something you are attatched to eh.. Hope you can find another.

Well I must have ten rats - robie has just been back to set a trap and the bait he put out last night had gone - so after he baited the trap then unblocked the waste disposal I sort of quietly said if he had a bit more extra time the dishwasher had locked itself - he suggested I might like to shift down to No1 son in Dunedin - he was joking but I am sure he is pleased he is his own boss and doesn't have to clock in and out of work -

Evening Ladies. I finally got to k&n this morning.
Sunny,but over hot. today.
Yesterday morning was at school ended up having lunch with the staff. Lovely Fresh Rolls and Pumpkin soup followed by Fresh Fruit. A couple of local parents came in and dropped it off.
Working Monday ,Wednesday and Thursday this week. Yes, still have some students waiting to walk with me in the morning.

Will keep a look out for a dark blue wine glass Kauka. Good to hear you still going out walking in the mornings.Op shopping sometime with friends. We try to go once a month and have lunch out as well.
Have not seen any rats around ,but will put some bait in the carshed. Tell you what half of the town will hear me if a rat or mouse comes anywhere need me. In other words Gerry you can keep them in your area.
With circular needles put the nylon line in hot water to straighten it..Popeye and see how it goes.
Time for a cuppa and catch up on the news.
Catch you in a day or so.
Happy Crafting.

Just heard that the cruise ship tomorrow is cancelled because of the rubbish weather forecast so there will be no market - I can stay in bed a bit longer in the morning. We have heavy rain this evening. Next market isn't until August. I might have a permanent spot next season, depends on someone dropping out which is looking reasonably likely, but time will tell. Meantime I have all winter to come up with some new ideas for things to make and sell.

Yes, really cheesed off about my wine glass. I really liked it. But I always think there is no point keeping things for special occasions, use them and enjoy them and if you break it, well you enjoyed it and you don't enjoy just having it sitting in a cupboard or dresser.

Night all.

morning ladies :) What a buggar about your wine glass kuaka. I'm of the same mind when it comes to using the 'good' china. Why have it and not use it!

Back in the classroom today, will be there all week. After yoga last evening I knitted the hood on our grandson's hoodie so will knit the band around the hood (have picked up the stitches) and finish it tonight. Then I can post both hoodies to our daughter on the way home from school tomorrow.

I'm feeling a bit stiff and sore this morning, the stretches at yoga were a bit more intense than last week. But still feel really good and I can see I'll be taking more lessons.

MrK and the Furry One spotted a mouse yesterday so they are around. The Furry One just missed catching it apparently. That anti-nauseous medication the vet gave him did the trick.

Edited to add, Gerry, rat poison often takes about a week to work, we use the blue rat bait shaped like a donut and tie it with wire to a nailed down block of wood in the ceiling (that's were our rats hang out). That way the rats can't take the bait away. It also dehydrates the rats so they leave looking for water so die away from the house.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, we had heavy rain through the night, so heavy at one stage that I woke and the noise sounded like a helicopter in the bedroom, but it was just the rain on the roof. We now have sunshine and hardly a breath of wind, but it is still looking like we will have more rain before too long as there are more black clouds rolling in.

Can't say I'm upset that I'm not at the market today. I was pretty tired on Sunday evening after spending the weekend there, and wasn't that lively on Monday, so probably didn't need to be there again today.

So will get myself organised and go to knit and natter this morning and then come home and do some overdue housework and maybe even some sewing.

I use the pellet type rat bait that comes in a tub, looks like greeny/blue rat droppings! They eat their way into the tub when they've eaten what I put out for them. I think they get hooked on it.

Well the sunshine was short-lived - it's just disappeared. Oh well, not much I can do about that.

Have a super day everyone.
