morning ladies :) Well done Gerry! That was a brave thing to do and I bet your heart was pounding! Our animals do know when we are upset don't they. And your sister can like it or lump it, how she takes it is up to her. Perhaps let your siblings know what you said so she can't go to them with a made up sob story. I had my sister not speak to me for six months last year but when she wanted something it was a different story! Sisters eh!

We have had heavy rain all night, some parts of Coromandel Peninsula are closed off because of it.

Housework today and I have to have the windscreen of our car repaired thanks to a big stone chip. yay for insurance lol. Our students arrive this afternoon for five nights this time, with all this wet weather we are looking at Plans B, C and D lol. Most of what we want to do is outside... oh well.. will see how we go.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I've just had a message from Grace to say they left before 7 this morning, so I possibly/probably won't go to knitting today, but will stay home. Not sure how long son is staying as he said yesterday he was going further north for a game fishing contest (I don't agree with game fishing, - especially marlin - but oh well !!) It is possible that he won't even call in but will take Grace with him and be here tonight. Will find out soon I guess.

Weather is still pretty miserable but it's not cold. I'm pleased I got a second batch of dwarf beans sown last week, as long as they don't get washed away they should do well, and the first lot are ready to be pulled out, have to decide what to put in next.

I had better iron the ties on Grace's apron before she gets here. Will only take me a jiffy.

I have been searching for a pattern (free or paid) for a cat tea cosy. So frustrating, I can find a pic of what I want, but not where to get the pattern. I don't want one that looks like a square with the corners pinched up to form ears. Grrrrr. I've been asked to make one but no luck searching for a pattern. As my son says "first world problems mum".

Have a good day everyone.

Morning all - my brain is like it's had a spring shower - have been wanting to say it all for years - it really hit me when we were all here after my hubbie died - 4 siblings together but one couldn't even bring herself to acknowledge the other 2 -she hasn't spoken to my other sister of brother for 15 years or my 99 year old Mum - I think really it was MrG that kept the door open to her - everything she said went in one of his ears and out the other!
Anyway -drizzly day here so my little four legged friend might not be too keen on the dog park - going to do some more onions - they had a broken bag of onions at Robie's supermarket so grabbed them before they went into the pig bin- the food bank here is very fussy about what they take so I will do the onions and give them to the food bank -
Saw a beautiful teddy bear on Facebook last night called Gerry - it was my hubbies nickname - $850 !!! 20 inches high made here in Nz - am sure it would be besutifuly made but maybe some of us should start making bears again
Kuaka have you thought of crochet cotton dish and face cloths - the tourists evidently buy them

Morning everyone.

Yay for you Gerry, good on you... Like Kiwimade said tho, I would probably forewarn the other siblings as to what happened. Or they will only get one side.
After having years of no speaking to my brother, I enjoy chatting with him now. All mums fault, but she cant get between us now.
I agree to a certain extent re the game fishing Kuaka, I always feel they play an unfair game with the big fish.

What is plan B C and D Kiwimade? How did it go with the Teacher being there?

Its a very windy wet Beautiful day here. Got warm through the night too.. LOVE IT lol.
Will have to do some more bloods in the morning. My INR is back to normal but I have a feeling my Flecainide is out of whack again cos Ive has a racing heart through the night again. So Ill do the test and then decide if I need to see the dr.

Back to doing squares today. Have 26 left I think it is, but have endes to do this morning.

Have a fab day everyone

Housework done, time for a cuppa then to the butcher to pick up the mutton roast MrK ordered last week. It works out to be good value as we have cold meat for picnic lunches, we have fresh rolls with all the salad vegie trimmings and pickles and fresh fruit. Ahhh plans B, C & D.... have yet to be decided lol. Probably some indoor things like baking, board games while the weather is really rough or we could head further south where the weather isn't quite so wet. We really want to show off what we have here in NZ, they haven't come all this way to stay in one spot.

They've arrived and had a cuppa and a chat, I gave Grace her apron. I was worried that she wouldn't like or appreciate it, but I needn't have been. She was thrilled to bits with it, and kept taking photos of herself wearing it, and only took it off because they've gone out. She even put a pic up on facebook. It's so nice that she appreciates anything you do for her.

They are going to come back in a while and we are going to kerikeri for some groceries and lettuce plants.

Its lovely Kuaka... I really must make myself some.

My brother had a japanese student for a year Kiwimade. They saw alot of the country and things they hadnt even seen. Nothing like getting to know your country when you view it from a visitors eyes.

its the same here. My friend has lived all her life here. She did a massive trip through Europe but she hasnt been to either of our beaches in many many years. We take it for granted really.

Ive done 2 squares so will sit and do the ends this afternoon.

Morning ladies, and what a miserable looking morning it is weatherwise, rain, nothing but rain (oh yes, and wind) I know we need the rain, but it could have waited till the family had gone home. I will have to go out later to check the mail and get the things I forgot yesterday at the supermarket.

Actually it's the perfect day for crafting so I'm not complaining.

Supposed to be going up to the neighbours tonight for a pot luck meal, If son isn't back today Grace will come with me, if he's back, they can have tea here and I will go up on my own. I normally walk up there, if the weather is like this I will need full wet weather gear and galoshes.

I bought some plants yesterday and put them on the table outside thinking I would plant them this morning, but I've brought them in, they look quite battered now, so I will need to nurse them for a while before planting them.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all - no rain but really chilly - little dog is usually bouncing around by now wanting to go the park - but he hasn't made it out of bed yet
It's a tough old world - both my boys are going to funerals today of very good friends in their early 40s - coincedence ! - both cancer -
My onions look beautiful Popeye - am struggling with my knitting but am really enjoying my pickling - never done it before - the old boy used to do them - so I have told the veggie manager to keep any pickling onions for me - a broken bag doesn't worry me but the food bank won't take them
Loved the apron Kuaka - my nana had spectacular aprons wonder what happened to them

Morning everyone
We have a windy but sunny day. After being windy and very wet yesteday.

Ive had a crappy start to the day. A touch of food poisoning I think. I had a couple of sauages last night that I wasnt enthused about. And from 4-30 onwards Ive been going at both ends. Seems to have settled now thank goodness, but ohhh my throat is sore.
One bonus tho I dont have panda eyes from this round. usually i blow blood vessels around and in my eyes lol.

I cant even stand the smell of vegemite today tho, so some who know me would say 'the end is nye".. I dont have a day go by without vegemite.

So we are terribly late today. But we dont have to rush anything.

Take care in the weather everyone

Morning everyone
A nice start to the day but apprently meant to rain etc later yay.

Im still a little croaky but Ohh I had forgotten the pain of the muscles that only seem to get used when sick. It hurts to laugh and cough lol.. I will recover tho.

Didnt do any craft yesterday, was up the street twice and I have to go back today, I forgot to pick up our scripts. So ill take them to the chemist and that way they have longer to make them up, over 20 items between us both, so we get a few free ones on the first script lol.

Erin is due today, I have to admit I love having my floors done, no shulder pain and it doesnt do my head in having the mess there.

Hope everyone has a fab day and no more crazy drivers Kiwimade

Afternoon ladies, son left this morning and had to do a detour further south as there had been a fatal truck vs car crash on State Highway 1 south of Kawakawa. We only checked the road conditions because we'd had so much rain we thought the road might be flooded. Sadly the road was closed because of the accident.

Grace is still here with me and is studying hard, taking articles from the newspaper and studying the grammar etc, and I am helping where I am able.

Message from Paul this morning, he hopes to be over for a few days around Easter time, so that will be good. Seems ages since I've seen him and I always enjoy his company.

Might do some sewing this afternoon. Don't plan on going out today, (I might shrink!) but I need to go tomorrow as I want to get a key cut, and tomorrow I have an 80th birthday to go to (Grace is coming too). I hope the weather clears up as it's a bbq do.

Have a super day - perfect crafting weather up here.

morning ladies, it's been a busy couple of days with two more to go :) Love the apron kuaka, you have inspired me to make some too.

We had a very close call driving down the Matamata side of the Kaimai Ranges the other day, an idiot underpassed me as I was trying to pass a school bus on a passing lane. Gave me a heck of a fright. Luckily the girls slept through my swearing. And another idiot yesterday overtaking a truck on a yellow line and blind corner. The first guy looked to be a retired chap so can't blame youth on that one! So far we had dodged the rain but I don't think we will be so lucky today. We're off to Rotorua and will take our picnic lunch to have with MrK's two sisters at their home. Tomorrow the girls are cooking dinner for us so we are both looking forward to that!

I have finished the wee jumper (much to our student's delight lol) and will take a pic and post it as soon as I can.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, looks like being another mainly wet day.

kiwimade, what do you mean by "underpassed"? Not a term I've heard before. Do you mean he overtook on the left-hand side of you, so between you and the school bus?

Had a call from Bill, he runs the market, to say that today's market has been cancelled as the ship isn't stopping here but heading straight to Sydney, so they have also cancelled tomorrow's market. I was booked in for tomorrow but not today. They are still having one on Monday as there's another ship in, and I'm booked for that, but at least I get my Sunday morning "lie-in". Don't have to be up at sparrow fart.

Have to get a key cut today so that Grace can let herself in and out when I'm at the market. Could have given her my son's but he forgot to bring it. Not to worry.

I didn't do any sewing yesterday, I had an itchy eye and it nearly drove me nuts, I used the eye bath several times, but it didn't really help, neither did rubbing it (which I know I'm not supposed to do). It's okay this morning but looks very red and a bit puffy. Looks as though I've been crying.

Breakfast time.

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2017-03-11 09:10:00
11465

yes kuaka, I was passing the bus on the passing lane going uphill, he 'overtook' me and the car right behind me on the left then pushed his way in front of me just as I was one car length away from overtaking the school bus. It was so unbelievably close, I always check my rear vision mirror so saw him hooning up the left hand lane, MrK looked and we both said he's not slowing down, he'll hit the rear of the bus or push into our lane! So I buttoned off a bit and he raced through and roared off!

edited to add, the Kaimai Ranges is no place to fool about on, there have been several people killed on the road as the hills and corners at quite deceptive at times. There are passing bays and lanes but still people are impatient. The road is used by trucks and trailers going to and from the Tauranga Port so very busy.

True kiwimade, I've gone over the Kaimais heaps of times when we lived in Hamilton, and I've seen lots of close calls, and people spin out and almost disappear over the edge of the road, and it's a long way down. One idiot came to rest wedged against the barrier with his nose over the edge, and it took several big hefty men to physically lift the car back onto the road. The idiot took off like a bat out of hell, and we commented "he's gone home to change his underpants".

Morning everyone
Had some awesome rain yesterday, plants are standing up again.

That driver needs to be put off the road. Maybe the bus driver got his number plate.

Its very hot here this morning. Sapping the energy.

Im still very sore in the muscles, Ohh I sneezed yesterday and it was like when I had my heart surgery lol... brought tears to the eyes lol.

Next door had a party last night. the music was loudish but the arguments on our front lawn were the disturbing part..

A quiet day here. I want to bake, but not in this heat thats for sure.

To those of you that warned me about consquences of my setting things straight with my sister - unbelievably she hastried to cause trouble between me and my son who lives here -who saw everything his Dad went through - he is still grieving obviously - she has no show at all of coming between us but why bother
Did two shoes yesterday for the knitted doll - it's a Mary Janes tearoom pattern - cute

Morning
Where has the week gone to? lol.
That must have been quite frightening Kiwimade, I always keep an eye on the rear vision mirror too and tend to slow down when see crazy driving like that as don't want to be first on the scene if/when they crash!!
Hope the aches settle soon Popeye and the eye Kuaka.
Good on you Gerry for standing up to sister the rest of the family will know who they can trust or not.

Waiting for rain to ease off and will go out to factory for a little while Sister and BiL are in Wellington meeting the new Grand daughter so I am having a lovely time pottering around doing my own thing in the peace of the country side, it really is pleasant there even on a wet day.

Have been playing around with a couple of patterns to get an easy little jersey with buttons on the upper side of yoke. Haven't really developed patterns much before but now trying out adjusting some to suit myself and then knitting them to see if it works. Not sure if Im really a pattern designer but fun trying.

Enjoy your meal cooked for you Kiwimade.

morning ladies :) Unfortunately Gerry, there are those that live for drama in their lives. Those of us who have been through the mill health wise either with our partners/husbands or our own health know we can do well without it.

We managed to get drenched yesterday in Rotorua lol. Shoes are drying under the heat pump (should have worn gumboots lol) but we did manage to show the girls mud pools and the Blue and Green Lakes. Lunch was fun with my two sisters-in-law. Three dogs (theirs, we didn't take our boy) so one dog for each girl lol. Today they want to go to McDonalds for lunch and the supermarket to buy ingredients for our dinner tonight. So I'll be going into town at some stage.

Finally took a pic of the wee jumper I finished, will post it to our daughter tomorrow. It's a Patons pattern from one of the baby books.

Morning everyone.

Its nice to clear the decks when it comes to finally telling someone what you think eh.
Two of MrP's brother always said that MrP was putting everything on and didnt want to work. The karma bus has arrived for them and they are getting a taste of what MrP and I have lived through. And yes Im smiling about that.

Found out the the police had been to the party next door. Were there for an hour. The idiots had timber in their hands and all it was very violent.
Turns out they put their notice in to leave a couple of weeks ago, they leave in 11 days.
I just hope they havent damaged the inside. So its going to be another new set of neighbours.. Hope they are good This time.

Was going to bake this morning but its very humid. So Ill duck up the road for our top up and bake when its cooler again.

Love the jersey Kiwimade, that will suit both Maddy and Michael.

Morning
Love the knitting Kiwimad, grey is a great colour for all kids.
Do hope the new neighbours fit in better Popeye. I'm going to lose my excellent neighbours as they are building a new house which will include a unit for the mother who has lived next door since these houses were built in the 1970s and my Dad brought this place. Fortunately all my other neighbours have been and are are lovely people.

Need to do a bit of baking too as my turn on morning tea for Mainly Music this week so will get that done now then see what I feel like doing.

morning ladies :) Still raining here but we did have enough of a break in the weather yesterday to take the girls across the Arapuni Suspension Bridge. Got home and it pelted down! They cooked dinner, Noodle Soup, Rice Balls, Rolled Egg Omelet, very tasty! And we used chopsticks, thank goodness MrK and I had been practicing lol. A little slow using them but that's not a bad thing. So today they leave us and the house will be a lot quieter without them.

Will have to find something to do as my Bernina shop in Tauranga is having problems buying the thread I use for my hardanger and I have finished knitting the jumper. I'll have a fossick around, there's bound to be something I can craft.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
Slight bit cooler this morning,, yay. But I doubt Ill bake. I have to nip up the road (again.. sigh) do a little photocopying and bank some money. Got a batch of wool from the free folder on the Yarn destashers fb group. But my buying selling bank account is very bare lol

Glad you enjoyed your dinner Kiwimade.. Do you mean the swing bridge at Arapuni Kiwimade? MrP drove a mini across that many many years ago when it was only just wide enough, lol

I have 16 squares to go, Yayay... So nearly there.

Right if I want to bake Ill have to get my butt into gear.

Afternoon ladies, just home from the market, a more successful day today - not exactly brilliant but worth the effort, so that's good.

Off to the club in a while - going to have a cuppa first - might stay there for tea, it sounds like an easier option that cooking.

The little plants I put in on Saturday afternoon are struggling. I don't think I will have them much longer. Never mind, I shall just have to buy some more.

Pleased you enjoyed the dinner that your students cooked - it certainly sounds good.

Have a super evening everyone.

Morning
Getting quite autumnal in the mornings now but looks like nice day ahead.

Off to Mainly Music soon as I get organised it's a fairly full-on morning setting up, joining in the action songs then doing the kitchen, almost as good as going to a gym lol. I also like to walk there if I can it's about 1.5kms either way.
Also have aquarobics this evening so feel I get my share of exercise on a Tuesday.

Knitting little garments again to try and use up my stash which seems to have grown a bit over summer - too many good sales on. Hope to get a reasonable selection of things ready to drop off at the medical centres before winter really gets here.

Have a good day

morning ladies :) Yes, popeye, that's the bridge I mean. I didn't do much yesterday, finished my book and that was about it.

Today I need to mow the lawn, all this rain has everything growing again. Will pick the mushrooms growing on it first though - yummmm, mushrooms on toast! And I need to post off the jumper, it was just too wet to get out of the car once more yesterday.

I'd stay at the Club fir dinner too kuaka, sometimes pub meals work out cheaper than home meals and it saves a lot of fuss when you get home.

Mainly Music sounds like a fun way to keep moving jayemtoo.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
overcast here today, not too warm so Im going to bake.. All biscuits cos thats what Ive been fancying for a few weeks.
Have fun at Mainly music Jayemtoo. My brother and sister in laws help run the one in Waverly. They have lots of fun.

Had a very scary moment yesterday. We heard this horrific sound, like a plane screaming getting closer to the ground. But it was actually twp cars, One towing the other which didnt have front wheels on. They were going soo fast we could only see the colours. So I ended up having a small panic attack.
They went right through down, havent checked if they got caught yet. But alot thought it was a plane coming in to crash, and to top it off the kids were just out of school.
I have 12 squares to go.. yay. nearly there. Will sew ends in today

Have a fab day everyone. I told MrP Id make him some pinwheel scones for lunch if Im near finished.

Aluminium needles, try your local op shops or Local wool stores. I have a good range of sizes of both aluminium and bamboo needles.. Have you checked on Trade Me for needles?

morning ladies :) I buy my needles through the Sallies and the other local op-shops rosynana, they are cheap as chips (20 cents!) there. And you can find all sorts of needles and sizes.

The windscreen of the car is being replaced today so that's two hours in town and my morning gone.

Haven't found anything to knit as yet but I am plowing through my David Baldacci books lol.

Rosynana I splashed out and got a full set of the same kind (Pony brand) from Deramores. I prefer metal needles too. And yes the oppy will be cheaper, Ill have a look for you at ours tomorrow as Ill be there anyway.

Had a lovely time baking yesterday.. Ohh so sore when I was finished but it was a happy sore lol.
Didnt get any craft done, so Ill be sewing my ends in later.

Have to go and get our scripts this morning.. will need a trailer nearly lol.

Two hours is enough time to go to Ronnies for Morning tea Kiwimade lol..

Have fun at Music Jayemtoo.. I think the one my BIL does was yesterday cos we tried ringing and they werent home, unless hes gone for a blood top up.

Morning ladies, it's definitely cooler this morning, but a lovely clear blue sky, might warm up later.

Grace is still in bed - I've been up a while but haven't actually done anything yet except make a cup of tea!

Knit and natter this morning, think I will start one of those top down baby tops as they are easy and I sold my last two on the stall on Monday, so now I don't have any. I'm doing myself an asymetrical shawl which has a cable along one edge and through the middle - I bought the pattern on ravelry the other day, it's called Braidsmaid by Martina Behm or somesuch name. I was quite enjoying making it until I noticed at the market that I had done one of the cables the wrong way and had to unpick 9 rows because I'd already progressed and done the next cable before I noticed. Grrrr!

I'd like to buy a really nice gradient to do myself another shawl, so might have to trawl the net and see what I can buy - it's about time I "treated" myself. Hmmmmm.

Happy knitting everyone, have a super day.

Thank you so much for your replies, I have just ordered some wool from Deramores too. I will try Trade Me and then the op shops, I am pretty home bound so that will be more of an effort. But Spotlight (online) couldn't find any. I just can't get used to the bamboo needles!!

rosynana - 2017-03-15 11:20:00

Can't believe it. I took your advice and went into Trade Me, found some knitting needles, and bought them. I could cry - have been looking for ages, and strangely didn't think of Trade Me. I am thrilled. So I can start knitting big winter jerseys again. The weather is lovely today after days of rain, living on the farm as we do, the water is great for the water tanks. Because I live with my daughter and husband and family, I have a chair in the lounge where I can sit, knit and look out of the beautiful scenery. Hope you are all feeling better today, you certainly are a busy lot of ladies.

Soo pleased for you Rosynana.. I always check trade me first before I buy anything. Then look at spotlight or deramores etc.

Sounds like you have a lovely spot to sit relax and enjoy the view.

Got all our meds.. Argghh $115 thanks very much.. but we did get 14 of them free lol. Thats a bit more than what a weeks groceries are..
But at least now its only the small top ups on a couple of meds to pay for now.

Im going to have a play on here then do my ends.

popeye333 - 2017-03-15 12:24:00

Good that you found the needles Rosynana, we all have our favourite needles it seems. I splashed out and brought part of a set of wooden interchangeables a couple of years ago and now use practically nothing else. But have some plastic coated metal ones I brought in an op shop years ago and no way am I letting them go as still love using them at times.

It's a dull coldish day, did some messages this am and short time at the factory but happy to relax this pm with knitting etc.

Morning everyone
I hope everyone is enjoying the nice days we are having now.

I finally got my ends sewn in yesterday. So only 12 squares to do.

Have been helping MrP to re-seat the outdoor chairs, so thats been fun cos he gets very angry at himself for not being able to do things he used to.

Had another Sack of onions dropped off last night... So my nose is clear just from walking into the lounge and being greated with the onion smell lol.
Need to get more white vinegar this morning in the shopping.

Breaking my yarn buying ban today... The recycle centre have a half price sale and they have about 20 balls of flurry yarn up there, put away for me, since we couldnt be there when they open at 8am .. Its nice being soo valued.

Hello everyone. Just waiting for my wool from Deramores and my needles to arrive. I have started knitting using plastic needles, but I don't like them one bit. My granddaughter has horses, and I can sit and watch her working with them, she is on "poo patrol" at the moment, haha. You have to keep their paddocks clean. I love watching her work. While I was deciding what next to knit, I knitted quite a few fish and chip tops for babies. Which was lovely, they were so quick to knit. The sun is shining, my son in law is on holiday at the moment, so he is busy building, mowing lawns and "stuff". Have a lovely day ladies.

Morning ladies, I'm feeling a bit weary this morning, I went for a really long walk yesterday with Grace, and one of the neighbours and a friend of hers, don't know how far we actually walked but it took us an hour and three quarters and we didn't stop, and walked at a good pace. Was tired last night but only slept till 2am and then it was almost 6 when I dozed off again. So I've only just got up.

Plan to go to Kerikeri shopping this morning. Was going to also go out to the big shopping centre at Waipapa which is just a bit further north, as I was hoping to go to Lighting Direct and treat myself to a new standard lamp as they have a sale on, but I see the lighting shop at Waipapa is Lighting Plus not Direct so that may have to wait a while longer - or I might go and see what they've got anyway. And if anything takes my fancy, I just might treat myself. (I seem to be getting much better at "treating" myself lately - I don't think that's a bad thing!)

Have a super day everyone.

afternoon ladies :) Great to see you found your needles rosynana, I must check TM for some thread seeing as I'm having trouble finding it.

I've been outside most of the morning weeding and pruning back plants. Time to start the autum cleanup and prune. Treating yourself isn't silly kuaka, why go without, life is too short!

Time for lunch and maybe some crafting.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Promise of a lovely day again although cool at the moment.
Gosh Popeye you will need to start a business with all those onions.
Treats are good for us Kuaka.
Think it will be a "routine" type day today a bit of factory time, garden this pm and then knitting.

Enjoy your day everyone

morning ladies and happy St Pat's Day :) It's my dad's birthday today so tomorrow we are having his birthday lunch. So I'll make an apple pie and maybe a birthday cake to take with us.

There is definitely that autum feel to the days now and I noticed the sun is a lot lower in the sky when I was outside yesterday. Didn't stop me from getting sunburned though. Back out today and I should finish the weeding and pruning with some luck.

Crafting this afternoon hopefully.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, yes definitely cooler in the mornings - haven't noticed it so much in the evenings though. It is raining here at the moment.

Grace is booked on the 12.15 bus back to Auckland. Jay was going to come up and get her but yesterday he had to take the dog to the vet and that was $180, he says it costs him $120 in diesel for the return trip and the travelling time (3 hours each way) is time he would rather spend working on the house so he can sell it and move up this way somewhere. The bus is $40 so it's a bit of a no-brainer really. Grace is keen to move up here too so that's good. She wanted to go on the 8am bus but I persuaded her the 12.15 would be more suitable. She's still in bed and I've only just got up.

Went for another long walk yesterday evening but won't be going tonight, I've got a big blister on my toe and the soles of my feet are sore. St Pats so I'm supposed to be going to the club with some of the neighbours for a few drinks.

It's my son's birthday on Sunday and would have been his father's on Monday. We don't celebrate birthdays except special ones, so will be a do of some sort next year for Jay and then in August for me.

I bought a rather nice standard lamp yesterday, it has two adjustable things for the bulbs, and was 33% off the normal price. I cheekily asked did I get a further discount for my gold card, and the chap said "have you borrowed one from somebody?" Will probably take my old one to the op shop. If they don't want it I'll take it to the tip. Have quite a pile of stuff to go.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
The mornings are lovely now. I still have my fan on through the night but did get chilly at one stage.
Was awake at 5-15am with pain, its improved with meds, thank goodness.

Have blackberries to pick this morning, I already snuck out and ate 3 beautiful raspberries. Havent been many at all on them this year. So I toddled across the wet grass and they were lovely.

Have a few things to do this morning then Ill sit and crochet later.

Erin will be here later too and Ill ask her to put the onions onto the trolley cos the bag is too heavy for me. And it will make it heaps easier to move.

Take care not to get too much more sun Kiwimade...

HAve a fab day everyone

Morning all - beautiful day here in the Bay but definitely had the feel of autumn in the air
My neice - who is a cancer survivor - is due to have a baby in June - was told yesterday baby is very very very small - she lives in the cold part of nz so won't use acrylic but what yarn would be best for light but warm knitting - she is not the type who would throw everything in the washing machine - have used possum mix before but not for a baby - any suggestions ?
Have a bit of a sore throat so have told the little dog we are having a lazy day -has his best hang dog look on
Nothing like a fresh picked raspberry Popeye - drove past our old orchard yesterday at Havelock North - my raspberry canes I planted have obviously propagated themselves over the years and are huge - but the orchard is destined to be cleared for developement this year so no doubt this is their last year of producing - sad -

Gerry, the baby merino from the Wool Company at Taihape is lovely and comes in various colours and is machine washable. It is available in 2, 3 and 4 ply. I've used it heaps and have always been very pleased with the results and with the service provided by the wool company. You can order on line or they have an 0800 number (I think) Thought I might still have a catalogue but I don't. Just google The Wool Company, Taihape or Utiku Wools

Actually Gerry, the web address is www.thewoolcompany.co.nz or you can phone them 0800 607010. They do charge to send the wool, but every time I've ordered it has arrived the next day.

I usually use merino for our grandies gerry64, have never used possum mix before for babies so will be interested in other's thoughts on this. I can't see it as a problem and it would be lovely and warm as well as light.

Garden is weeded and some pruning done, just have to wait now for the phlox and other annuals to finish so I can tidy them up too. Had a surprise when weeding, a dahlia I thought was long gone was in full bloom so I'll dig that tuber up when it's finished along with others and store them for the winter. They rot here over winter if left in the ground as our winters are so wet.

Need to pop into town to buy more flour and some cream for the pie but first I need to shower.

MrP is now peeling onions and Im waiting for Erin to arrive. Will have to evac the onions but I put them on a trolley this morning so its alot easier. We are doing huge jars, he peeled for an hour and still only 3/4rs filled one jar lol.I love Dahlias, my stepfather grew them, must take note and see if they grow here, cant say Ive seen any.

Have a good afternoon everyone
