all sewn together now, mine puckers up to, going to snip with my new snippers, the outside squares that make the boarder a very thin i think i should have used 3 layers for them.

1118

Twilight did you sew about 1/2" right around the outside of the whole quilt - i forget that bit quite often till i go to snip it.

1. Rag Quilts
I have been googling quilts and found these amazing 'rag quilts' but I was wondering if they wear as well as traditional quilts ? I dont want to spend the hours making it if its not going to last. Does anyone know, has anyone made these quilts? by coalrange1

2. :)...
Oh I mean the ones with the freyed edges on each square. Thanks in advance :) by coalrange1

3. I don't know about
frayed edges, but we have in daily use, on our floor, a rag rug my Mum made using second-hand clothing, in the 1940s. It still looks as good as ever. She used mainly woollen suiting and heavy cottons. The effect is like an afghan rug, with black ( a whole suit apparently ) between each coloured square. by junie2

4. Aha - I see now ...
you're talking about quilts. Wouldn't have a clue about them, sorry! by junie2

5. Thanks Junie,
I made those rag rugs years ago, ours are also in constant use - they seem to last forever :) by coalrange1

6. Raggie quilts - love them!!
I have made several now and just love them...no fiddly piecing, and when they need a wash, just chuck in the washing machine and into the dryer. I have made with top quality quilters flannel with wool batting, and also with cheap flannelette and polyester batting - have to say if you want a soft cuddly quilt, the expensive is better, but they still look fabulous!!!! by lilredhen

7. Thankyou lilredhen
I have so many ideas for these quilts going around in my head hehe. It will be nice not to do the fiddly piecing....Thanks again for your help :) by coalrange1
