Lovely. I always have a preference for raglan sleeves over set in ones and I like the pink buttons .

Gorgeous wee jersey whiskey, your knitting is lovely. I really like the pink buttons - it's so hard getting the buttons just right, especially if you had imagined something else. Did you post that pic on Knatty Knitters? I thought I saw it earlier when I was on the phone, but couldn't find it when I went back to comment. I love the colours in the yarn too, so pretty.

Hope everyone else is having a lovely knitty day, the cyst on my finger is getting a bit smaller, so am hoping it will disappear completely. Still a bit sore though and I'm running out of time to get this jacket finished before g.niece's birthday. So cold here this afternoon, have just turned the heat pump on so it will be nice and cosy soon.

Ohhh that is pretty.. I like the pink buttons too lol...

I haven't done a lot of knitting today.. But have just finished the hat and pompom that is knitted in the same piece.

Will do some more stitching tonight. That will get the pants done. And then will have to knit the sash and bag of bag pipes and will have to stitch them too.

Still don't have my car back.. I don't like it when its gone.. but they are hopefully fixing the leak. But there is rust they will have to fix for the next warrant... Perhaps they should have fixed it properly in the first place. !!. But still it needs to be done and the weather will be better in August with a bit of luck

popeye333 - 2013-04-22 15:50:00
1107

Where was the leak popeye? We just spent quite a lot of money (I'm thinking I could have bought a lifetime supply of wool with what it cost) to have a whole new panel fitted in the roof of our elderly 4x4 because it was rusting away around the sun-roof which we never used, so they cut the rust out (well I hope they did) and welded a whole new panel over the sun-roof. No more sun-roof but no more leaks. Was going to cost us heaps more to do it and have the sun-roof still operational.

Been a glorious day here today, just like summer but not quite as hot and humid. I've got a short-sleeve tee-shirt on rather than a long sleeved one and no heat pump yet today.

kuaka - 2013-04-22 16:27:00

Its at the right top of the windscreen. Going down the edge between the screen and the door I guess.
I just know MrP will say nooo get a new car. But I like our Car. Im not changing.
Thankfully we have a good credit at the garage. And if its more we will be able to pay it off... I hate spending money on cars.
Feel like saying to MrP you should have let me carry on getting wet feet and we wouldn't have known lol.. but the car needs to be safe too.

Its warm here. Humidity in the 60s, 23 inside and outside is 24, I have a singlet top on and a fan on cos I like moving air.

popeye333 - 2013-04-22 16:32:00
1109

Arghhh what a morning... MrP was in a grumpy. Better now tho.. Went to get into the car and the floor was absolutely soaked. The good news the top of the door jam was dry.
So its gone back to the garage and adjoining panel beater to be fixed.

Just heated some hot cross buns up for lunch and managed to burn my arm on the glass cooker. I watered it and now have it wrapped in glad wrap but still smarting.

On the plus I have done the stitching on the pants now. Just started the wrap, then have the bag pipes and bag to do. Then its the putting together.

Hope everyones day is going a lot better than mine

Chilly morning here in Bathurst -sunny but one of those bone chilling winds coming off the Blue Mountains
I am now on my third start of the sole of the slipper - thought it looked too small so unpicked and started again - then it looked too big -so will try another hook half size smaller
The hot cross buns sound nice popeye but not the burn

gerry64 - 2013-04-23 12:48:00
1111

They were nice Gerry lol a rare treat...

The burn is still burning even after cold water and glad wrap. Im going to ring the healthline soon I think.

I really don't want to have to go to the drs, cos the loaner car from the garage is like driving a grater on the road. compaired to our Honda CRV lol

1112

owieee popeye, better get that burn checked out! Gerry, that wind sounds like our southerlies here... bitterly cold straight off Antartica. Not nice at all. But on the up side, a great time to wear pretty scarves and hats.
I finished the wee cardy yesterday and now need buttons before I post a pic of it. I know the buttons I want - little frogs lol. Thought they would look cute on a green cardigan.
I've started an All Black jersey, just need to draw a Silver Fern to knit or swiss darn onto the front (when I get the front done).
Happy knitting everyone!

Afternoon everyone. I thought I would just quickly pop in and say "hi".
It's been raining that last few days so I have sitting with my leg up, knitting without guilt LOL. I have almost completed the first metre of the Dr Who scarf, just 2.5 metres to go (really nice as it is like a blanket so keeps my leg warm). I will post progress photos later as I have to wait till Mr Critic is home because I cannot weight bear on either leg. The fire is going and all 6 dogs are crowded around it, the cats are draped over the couches and Miss 10 is grumbling because I am on the laptop! I have decided to donate some of my baby beanies to charity as they were not selling on trademe and the fees are sucking up my funds. Also I will admit I am a hoarder of all things crafty - I had to ring Knitworld last week to order wool as there is no decent shops in Timaru - would have been a wasted phone call if I'd only ordered what I needed so I got more to be on the safe side *he won't notice I'm sure*. Well I'm getting evil looks from Miss 10 so I'd better go and do some more Dr Who knitting or she might set a darlek on me!

Just been down to the supermarket no wonder the Ozzie orchardists stop kiwi apples coming over here - the new seasons apples are $6.99kg - we had an orchard in HB before coming over here would have loved to get even half that a kg
Went to spotlight while I was out and bought a hook in between the two I had so will cast on again - didnt buy any wool but was tempted to buy a Martha Stewart loom -on special at $30 but it might be too fiddly when my fingers and hands are not behaving themselves

Kiwimade I have a cross stitch of a silver fern... Ill have to find it, but when I do I can take a photo of it and put it here... Or list it which ever works out better.

I spent $33 ouch.. on some Mebo Burn repair ointment. It has taken the sting out,,, along with the pain meds. Stinks tho lol.. But the chemist recommended it as its what they use in the hospital. He told me to get it checked at drs too on Friday. Ill have a list before I get there lol..

Wonder if the dr will be able to fix the ouch from the repair bill for the car too..lol but it will all be done. Its leaking in from under the roof racks apparently.

Have to get my needles going even faster now lol...

Ohh after a wee bit of advice too re selling my cross stitch stuff but Ill start a new thread about that

1116

awesome, thanks popeye, if you list it I am happy to buy it (assuming you want to sell it!)
wow gerry, was that for NZ apples? what a disgraceful price, husband saw some here advertised for $1.99 a kilo and not long ago I bought gala apples and bottled them for 50cents a kilo!

Kiwimade, Im going to be sorting all the cross stitch stuff out to sell it. So should find it in there somewhere.

I got a bag of Gala last week, with 9 goodsize apples in it for $3-99. Didn't think that was tooo bad. But $7 a kilo good grief that's disgusting. But Ive hear people are paying $1-10 Aussie per Fejioa .... Glad I don't like them or live there lol

mmmmmm feijoas, can't wait for ours to ripen lol.

kiwimade64 - 2013-04-23 19:22:00
1119

Yes that's right about the feijoas -very rarely see them here and are always over $20 a kg -the apples were Ozzie apples they won't let kiwi apples in as they say they have bugs

gerry64 - 2013-04-23 21:22:00
1120

Blimey, wish I could buy apples cheap - they are often as much as $7.99kg at our local Countdown - and that's for kiwi ones, not the tasteless American imports they sometimes have. Even kiwifruit is often as much as $6.99kg. Just think of all the yarn you could buy instead of buying a couple of kg of apples.

Ohh Pats they are lovely... One could knit with those on... Hmm might have to look into that.

The burn is feeling a lot better this morning.. I will put a pad on it and tape that one rather than a bandage I think cos that agrrivates me.

Have to take the loaner car back today and get the one from the panel beater. They will ring...

Might get into the cross stitch stuff too and at least find the silver fern for Kiwimade.

Have a good day

These are the gloves i knitted for my sister last year.
Just gotten back from a trip to the vets. Mac (foxy) had vomited all thou the bed on Monday night / Tuesday morning but it was foamy bright red blood. So we rushed him to the after hours clinic at 2:30am and 2 hours and $550 later they still weren't sure what was wrong. They did xrays and put tubes down his throat and up his bum. They ruled out poison and bone obstruction, so they gave him meds to stop the vomiting and meds to reline the stomach wall. They faxed thou all the info to Mac regular vet and they rung to make an appointment for today. We got home at 4:30am and John went to bed while i stayed up to keep an eye on Mac. Then at 8:00am John got up and I went to bed. I got alot of knitting done. Regular vet did blood tests and Mac has a Liver infection. My poor wee man.

Sorry everyone for the long post, I just had to let it all out.
The vomiting has stopped but just has a bad case of diarrhea

whiskey13 - 2013-04-24 13:54:00
1128

Wow Whiskey that doesn't sound very pleasant for we Mac... I hope he improves.

Just had our own "excitement" here. Went out to go down and get my avon money and a teenager came off his bike. Went into the handlebars. So I rang ambulance and his mate rang his mum.. Ambo coming from Papakura which is a good 20 mins away. In the meantime Id got him a small pillow and blankets but it started spitting, I came in and grabbed the only thing I thought big enough, a blue tarp. Thankfully it was huge cos it covered him and his mum. MrP brought me an umbrella. It absolutely hosed down, I got soaked on the butt.

He had just got a clearance after breaking his collarbone 6 weeks ago. And the poor kid was very sore. They have left their bikes with us. His mate went in the ambulance with him and his mum followed in her car.

His eye grew an impressive lump as did the wound on his stomach. Winded him badly. Hes going to have some doosy bruises too the poor kid.

YES he had his helmet on thank god.

Oh my gosh whiskey, that was an expensive time at the vet. Poor Mac, he is soooo cute. The gloves for your sister are lovely. Love the pattern.

popeye, that poor boy. Lucky he had you there to tend to him. Will look forward to seeing your cross-stitch listed.

Not long home from work. Was a little later than usual as I'm taking Friday off and wanted to get a particular job finished.

Off to take the fur for a walk and will try and get some knitting done later. Finished the back of the baby's cardigan last night.

Hi everyone, gosh what a lot of drama has been going on. Glad you were there to help the poor boy who came off his bike popeye.
whiskey your dog is so cute, hope he is better soon, thank goodness for the After Hour vets, even if it was very expensive. That's where I take our rottweiler for physio (good use for the premises during the day). Was supposed to go today but my car wouldn't start. Rang to let them know and they didn't have us booked in anyway - even though the physio had written it on the card for me.
Not getting much knitting done, so busy with the dogs and have a very painful finger still :(

1134

Done for you kiwimade..

Wow we are all having troubles of some kind. Im pleased to say my burn is good now. Im keeping it covered tho for a few days like they said. Even if the bandage annoys me lol, cos plaster makes things worse.

Havent done a lot of knitting today.. But did get the bagpipe bag knitted and have started on the cream rings for the pipes. Then I have the black pipes to do but I have to make the straws up to length first then you knit to fit. Then have to do the swiss darning on the sash and bag. Then it wont take long to put Angus together.

Didn't get our car back today either. So Im not sure when to expect that

Wow, quite a bit of drama happening! Just as well that young boy had you nearby popeye and thank goodness you had the tarp handy. Poor buggar!
And poor Mac, I hate it when our pets are sick, you have to guess most of the time. Gotta love our terriers! Hopefully Mac is on the mend!

kiwimade64 - 2013-04-24 18:58:00
1136

Morning all.

I'm hoping wee Mac is doing better... Your right Kiwimade, at having to guess what's wrong with the pets. That's why vets are far better than drs. Most of the time the drs can be told what's wrong, Vets have to guess.

Not a problem re the chart. was glad I found it, I knew Id tucked it away somewhere safe lol.

Have left the dressing off my burn today.. Its aggravating my skin more than helping. It looks ok now too which is good.

I assume we may see the mate of the boy who crashed yesterday to pick up their bikes. I said to MrP last night we needed to cover them, to keep prying eyes out. The streetlight shows up our front yard. So we did and they are still there which is good.

So idiots stole the top off our birdbath a few years ago. They must have decided the base was too heavy to take lol

Will go post sales later and get a few groceries while Im out...

Have a lot of stitching to do and make up the pipes so I can knit the covers. Then I can put Angus together.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-04-25 08:38:00

Yes, hope Mac is feeling a lot better. The neighbour from down the street has just dropped their golden retriever off as I'm looking after her for the weekend. Her and Quinn get on well together except Quinn won't let her share the kennel at night, lol. Anyway got my crate back from a friend who had borrowed it and she can sleep in the garage.

About to do some housework and then this afternoon, depending on the weather, I will do some gardening or knit. Hope it rains and then I have a good excuse to stay inside, lol.

I think the shops etc are all closed until 1.00 pm, so don't go out too early Popeye, lol.

Enjoy your day everyone.

morning, going to help husband cut some MDF board he has all marked out to make a baby changing table for daughter and her partner. It's damed heavy so a two person job to hold and support it somewhat as he puts it through the saw. If it stays fine I'll be able to set up the sander outside and sand the box I'm rejuvenating for daughter... omg the things we do for our kids lol, but at least I get to use power tools :P even if it is a sander lol.

Maible have you tried deer velvet for your rotti - we had rottis for years and the male seemed to be so prone to joint and muscle problems -
Have unpicked my slipper again back down to the sole - the sides didnt look right and they werent -wasnt doing the stitch right - the wool will be worn out before they ever get onto by grandaughters feet

Another sunny day in Christchurch, lovely
Sorry you've had to unpick your slipper gerry, I have been the same with the jacket I'm knitting - st first the pattern was really difficult to follow, then I started making silly mistakes. Going to have to hurry to get it finished for my great nieces birthday on Monday.
Thanks for the idea re deer velvet, will keep that in mind. Poor dog had a cruciate repair almost 10 months ago followed by a tidy up op in October and then in January he damaged the repair completely. So had his third op early Feb and was doing well until he got an infection in the leg. Hence the need for physio as he has had limited use of the leg for all that time. We had seen an improvement after two visits to the physio, plus doing it at home also, but he is limping again today - don't know what has happened. Just gave him a good massage and he is using the foot again but very tentatively. He is daughter's dog but lives with hubby and I, and our 2 dogs and 3 cats. Don't know how I am going to tell daughter he has had another setback, she has spent thousands of dollars on him already.
Will do a couple more massage and physio sessions today and hope he improves, He doesn't seem to be in pain, quite happy to let me stretch his leg, just doesn't want to put it down.
I've been on constant watch with him for all these months, rarely leave the house, and then it's a quick dash unless I get a sitter for the dogs. It's all a bit overwhelming at the moment lol, am very tired.
Vent over, time for some knitting therapy for me.
Popeye you're racing through Angus, wish I was that productive. Glad to hear the boy came to get his bike and had not broken his collarbone, he will be very sore I imagine.
pats, sorry it's not raining here lol, I should be out in the garden too, but need to work on this jacket.
kiwimade it's so nice that you and hubby are making things for your daughter, will be so special for her to have them.
Love to all - happy knitting xoxo

Gidday ladies. Mac is on the mend. He is only allowed certain tinned food from the vets and no biscuits. The way he is carrying on, you would have thought we were starving him to death, we've put his biscuits in the laundry and he comes up to ya and grabs ya hand to drag you to the laundry, when you open the door he goes straight to the bag as if to say gimme, gimme, gimme lol. I had to force feed him some food yesterday, but last night he willingly eat some and again today. So he is getting there. We just have to keep an eye on he bowel motions to see them "firm up". Back to the vet next Wednesday for more blood tests.

whiskey13 - 2013-04-25 14:54:00
1144

Glad he is doing better Whiskey. They sure know how to tell you what they want eh.
Our boy cat will hang around and annoy you when he wants something. Then I tell him to "show Mummy" what he wants. He leads the way. Usually he wants his water changed, cos that's in the garage

Gerry should I tell you that theres a couple of homes selling Feijoas for $2 a bag here at the mo... Maybe I better not that's mean.

I don't eat them, we had a huge tree when we were kids we could sit in it and pig out. Used to carry buckets of feijoas and grapes to school cos we couldn't keep up with them. I don't eat either now

popeye333 - 2013-04-25 16:10:00

hehehe maible, me 'rejuventating' daughter's box is my way of creatively returning it too her lol... I want the room for other things and need her stuff to move with her :P... she also has a wooden chair I'm going to repaint the same colour as it 'could be handy in the nursery' and the mini stereo she has stored in the room could be 'sooo useful to play children's music in the nursery', ohh and your desk... we could set that up for when baby is bigger and it could be used for homework, drawing, writing letters to Nana...
Am glad Mac is feeling better, they certainly make their presence felt lol don't they.
And the young lad popeye came across sounds very lucky too!

Hey popeye, it's not often I beat you to the first post of the day, lol.

Have taken the furs for a walk (looking after the neighbours GR for the weekend). Going to do some housework and that will give me a housework free weekend, yaaay. Have a friend coming round this afternoon for a couple of hours.

Glad Mac is on the mend whiskey.

Cunning plan kiwimade to get your daughter's things out of the house. Sounds like you're doing a great job and I bet the box and chair look lovely when finished.

Lovely day here in Christchurch at the moment.

Oops cos I forgot to come back and post between putting washing on and out lol..

Sounds like a good day Pats... My washing is all out now. Thought the first load was going to have an extra rinse but the wind blew the clouds away.

Windy out there so the towels will be nice and thick and soft.

Ive stuffed Angus, put his longs on they look cool. Don't the buckle, I don't like doing buckles much. And have sewn the arms ready to stuff and attach.
He will be done by the end of the weekend I should think cos I still have to knit the pies and do his hair.

Off to the drs later about my stupid finger and swelling hand. My burn is good now. The cream I got is fantastic.

Right lunch time...

Hi all,
Haven't we had some lovely days pats, it was nice to get the rain but I'm really enjoying the sunshine. My daughter has the day off work so she's coming to visit this afternoon, she will do a physio session on her dog while she's here so that's helpful.
kiwimade I like your plan to re-gift things to your daughter, very clever. We are slowly ridding ourselves of things we have been storing for our children and claiming a couple of bedrooms back at last.
whiskey it's good to hear that Mac is improving, it's such a worry when they are ill :(
popeye hope you burn is healing well and things are progressing nicely with angus.

Love to all, have a safe and restful weekend xoxo

The burn is good now Maible... I highly recommend Mebo Burn relief... I have a good stripe across my arm... It looked red and a lot bigger but the stripe is the worst bit. everything else has cleared up thank goodness.

Umm Green Lipped Muscle extract might also help Rotti dog..My girl cat had it for her arthritis.

Bob is in disgrace.. Last night he though he was being helpful trying to hide a ball of wool he had helped himself to. Hes been brought up like all my cats, not to touch, but he must have taken it from my wool bag and was trying to hide it under the paper that was wrapping stuff from supermarket.
He looked really proud of himself. but he got sent down the hall and told off.

Thankfully it only took about 7mins to sort out and re wind into a ball... He hasn't gone near the bag again this morning.. but that could be cos he has taken up residence on my bed lol

Yay we have rain. The first since before Xmas. It is meant to be a wet day again tomorrow. I haven't been able to plant my bulbs as the ground is so hard so with a bit of rain I may be able to poke them in during the weekend.
Was going to take the dog for a walk and noticed the rain on the windows.
Well I will just have to sit and knit. Have a good weekend everyone.
