Your poor girl grizzly A's milk supply dropped dramatically as well when M R c

Dah gremlins at it again Anyway a had to go to the specialist when MR was not putting on weight and her milk supply had dropped. He gave her Domperidone which supposedly only increases the milk supply as long as you take it. But when baby starts to feed more she did start to produce more milk anyway. She must be exhausted and fed up with the so called midwife. Has she been to Plunket? They were really helpful to A.

Smartgirl how is your back? Gp wants me to go see the Orthapedic surgeon again but No way. Still has not come right. No darn gym and I am stiff as. This is the longest it has been out since surgery but the weather does not help. What are you knitting? How is the family? My granddaughter knows the difference between veges and fruit and guess which one she keeps her lips tight for? The little minx. Ha ha.

They are so cute when they wont eat things they dont like. I have just been in to a meeting at acc and am getting no where fast. She has okd me to go back to the accupuncturist again (sp) I am reluctant to have surgery and even she said it does not always help.

smartgirl - 2008-07-03 17:27:00
1105

Yes it is hard trying to decide about surgery My surgery did help me. I could hardly walk before it. Yet others say it has made no difference. I just do not want to go there again. Lousy weather here again. Good knitting and sewing weather though!!!!.

Busy week... Surgeon is a real waste of time.... ACC workplace assessment was Thursday and that's not going to change anything.... I did embarrass her a bit though when i mentioned a few things that hubby is finding it difficult to do around home that she could provide some strategies around..... S can't be ssen by a Plunket Nurse till Midwife hands her over.... not prepared to do that till B is 6 weeks old. It's hard enough being on the sidelines of these things without suffering the pain like you ladies too and still have to fight the battles as well.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-05 10:48:00
1107

You are having a hell of a time grizzly If your daughter is not happy with her midwife she can sign herself off. Plunket Centres will see baby before he is signed off. They are there to support Mums and their babes, however the official Plunket visit usually reguires the referral from the Midwife as she signs off. There was a couple of Mums at the Plunket Centre when we went and their babes were only 2 weeks old. Yes you have to stick to your guns with ACC because their focus is on return to work. A mate of mine had his surgery and they cleared him for work after two months now his arm is as bad as ever and he cannot work again!!!!

Lousy weather Pouring with rain and heavy winds, then spots of hail. Last night had to go out and rescue the the large Seedling planter stand. It was full of plants, stands about 6 feet tall and the wind picked it up and carried it until the fence stopped it. Broken pots and plants all over the darn place. What fun. Waiting for a decent break in the weather to clean up the mess. Only walked one dog yesterday because it just got worse. The other dog is giving me the look so at some stage today have to walk that one.

makerealbany - 2008-07-06 10:33:00
1109

Oh no your poor plants!!! The wind was giving us some bother too over the weekend but nothing like that. Then it snowed. Very pretty. Great weekend for hibernating. Got lots of cross-stitch done and finished a hoodie jacket and pr of wee sox for the shop. Going to have to go to GP myself this morning. Coughs back after only 2 weeks off medication from last time! Grrr.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-07 08:28:00
1110

Ghosts again I see Went to the gym this morning. Only did half of what I usually do. Trying to stretch out my back. Hurt like hell but feel more supple generally. Yah. A got our email fixed but mine drops in and out still. Grrrrr. Be glad when I get my own phone line and maybe that will solve the probelm. Xtra are not allowing me access through Vodaphone and they should. We had a guy come out to fix the email and he has to come back. Technology is a pain at times. Gee grizzly that cough is a bummer. As if you haven't got enough to worry about.

makerealbany - 2008-07-07 14:15:00
1111

Well I have stabbed myself tonight with a knitting needle. I was knitting and dropped my needle and quickly reached down to get it. Usually if I am really quick I can catch it but this time it got stuck standing up between the cushions on the sofa, and in rushing down I stabbed the needle into my arm. I had to get mr 16 to pull it out. I hardly shed a drop of blood but it is very tender.

smartgirl - 2008-07-07 22:24:00
1112

Mr 16 thinks I should give up knitting as it is the 2nd time I have done it. The first time was a few years ago and I was walking into my bedroom with the needle just scratching the outside of my ear. As I pushed open the door it sprang back as my dressing gown was pushing it back. The door hit my elbow and the needle shot in my ear perforating my eardrum. I had to actually pull it out.

smartgirl - 2008-07-07 22:28:00
1113

Yuck yuck yuck yuck! Worst I've done (so far!) is used a needle to scratch my back and the silly cat was on the back of the couch above me tried to bite the end of the needle. Didn't break the skin of the roof of her mouth but I bet she was sore for a while. I always check where she is now. But you sound really dangerous, smartgirl!!!!

grizzly4 - 2008-07-08 09:04:00
1114

Watch those needles smartgirl Darn Jed is such a playful cat. He is 9 years old and still trys to fight for my wool when I am knitting. He doesn't do it all the time but seems to know just when I am thinking " that darn cat better not grab a ball or I am going to get a big tangle" Then wham!!!!1 I have to bribe him with something so he will let go. Dayla never touchs the wool. The worst thing I ever did with knitting needles, was stick them down inside my broken leg cast and my broken arm( had both at the same time a few weeks before my first Hubby died) The ends of the needles came off and when I got my casts off they fell out but some of them caused an indent mark. Lol. The nurse just laughed said she had seen worse things.

makerealbany - 2008-07-08 12:24:00
1115

I have read the last few messages to hubby who is seriously concerned about the friends I am making on this site!!!!! Dare I ask how you came to break your leg and arm at the same time, makerealbany? I remember when my own kids were 13 & 11 the both had their arms in casts at the same time. I was so embarrassed I wouldn't take them out together. Funny now though!

grizzly4 - 2008-07-09 08:30:00
1116

Say hi to Hubby and tell him we are not too bad A child ran out in front of me in our street so I had 2 choices the little boy or the darn powerpole on the sidewalk. Cars were on the other side of road. Was hoping to miss that pole though. ha ha. I asked my husband what I should have done and he said "you did the only thing you could have" Parents were lovely although neighbours said Mum fainted. It was not easy, hubby dying, me in plaster, car had to be fixed I couldn't drive anyway. All my neighbours and friends helped out with the kids to sports etc. So that is the saga. We really should write a book. Lol.

1117

Right that is it, seriously I spent a small fortune on buying Merino wool on TM this week and I am not buying any more wool until I have made a big hole in my stash. What with these wool and all the wool I bought at K Mart (which was sold out by the next day because I checked again. ha ha) I am running out of room to store it. Thank heavens the Soccer thing is this week. Sick of beanies and scarves. Itching to knit some little cardis and I have to knit a jersey for my 4 year old grandson.

makerealbany - 2008-07-09 13:43:00
1118

this not these Grammar is starting to fail. ha ha. How are you smartgirl?

makerealbany - 2008-07-09 19:59:00
1119

Yep the only choice you had re message 1116 and I don't believe a word of it re message 1117. Heard it all before till the next 'special'!!!!Haha. I am doing well working through my stash although I would love to be able to afford some more wool for another jersey for myself. I am alternating my 2 each day but washed them yesterday since it was a warmer day. Warmer it may have been but I absolutely froze in my store bought jumper. I have ruined myself for anything but my cosy home mades for this winter!!

grizzly4 - 2008-07-10 08:38:00
1120

Lets face it I am addicted to wool stashing ha ha You are right about the store bought jerseys. I am spending the day sewing up these beanies for tomorrow night. If it is as cold as today the beanies and scarves should be a hit. I hope after all that work. On another note I planted heaps of Swan plants from seed last year and the monarchs would not touch them. Every other time I have planted them they have been stripped. The plants are quite large now and I am going to leave them and see what happens, but next season I will plant some new ones from different seed and compare the two varieties. How is your daughter and your grandson grizzly.

My Goodness smartgirl You are knitting up a storm. Was looking at patterns and one of them was yours and saw all your listings. You have some lovely items for sale if I was not a knitter I would buy some. Love some of the patterns you have knitted.

Had to get tempory new email address until probelm fixed. So at lest I can send and receive now.

Must check out your listings again too, smartgirl. Loved the last patterns. S & B doing well now I think. Haven't heard anything for a couple of days so thats always a good sign. Hopefully she'll be driving again soon so will be dropping in all the time. B put on 300g this past week so S is taking it has a personal success with the breast feeding now full time. Will have to express tomorrow 'cos he's coming to stay for a couple of hours while his Mum & Dad have a couple of hours out like real people again. Having one year old from tonight to Sunday as his parents are celebrating their anniversary in Hanmer for the weekend.

Wow grizzly that is really great news about your daughter and bubs. Sounds as though you will have a lovely weekend with your grandchildren. Had a fabulous time last night at the Trivial Pursuit night. There was about 300 people and we all had so much fun and raised heaps for the girls. We did NOT sell or raffle any of those ruddy beanies and scarves because there were such great sponsers we had a huge Auction during which my 3rd son bought me a fish tank, the fish and all the goodies kindly donated by Animates of North Shore. My eldest son was given a really nice Toasted Sandwichmaker by the 3rd son who won it in the auction and finally I won a raffle. Chocolate(drink) marshmallows, marzipan, lovely big tin and a nice large choco Mug. Our team was not last either. ha ha. Have not enjoyed myself so much for ages.

As to the scarves and beanies We are arranging more fundraising so we will use those there. Am starting a new cardi for baby. She holds her hands out now to be picked up. By the way I just woke up 30 mins ago. Did not get home until 2ish this morn so popped into bed at 3. Woke up at 9 had breakie and went back to bed. I feel quite rejuvenated. Back is back to normal and all systems are online. Have a nice weekend girls.

Well I have not forgotten about you ladies and I have been in and read the posts and then something has happened and I sign off without writing anything. I have had a very busy week. Makereal you will be awake all night. I am off now t o watch the rugby.

Slept like a log Been in the garden today. What a mess. Looks better now though. Got visitors for tea so my daughter is flat out. Bubby and I are maxing out now after the gardening. Grandson rang me to buy a game he saw on TM. Have done that and he is pleased. What a good Nana I am. ha ha. Should wash the car but it can wait until tomorrow. Feeling lazy.

1128

Hi girls How are you both? Just finished back of new cardi for M R. She is growing so fast. Went to gym, still on restricted which means no darn squats or Pull ups. Went to the Library and all the fancy knitting books are out. Like to browse those for patterns every so often. Have either of you made one of those scarves they say you can pull through a ring? Also need a pattern for 12 ply wool to knit a jersey for my nearly 5 year old grandson.

makerealbany - 2008-07-14 16:27:00
1129

Hi all, makereal have you googled free knitting patterns, there are thousands of them. You are trying to put me to shame re your squats and pullups. You have no idea how badly I have become since hurting my back.
I cannot believe how unfit I am. I wish the whole darn thing was over.

Hello there, We had wonderful weather here over the weekend and yesterday for my day off. Really enjoyed my wee grandsons staying over although we were exhausted by Sunday night. Hubby down with the 'flu now and I am am trying to wind my job up to hand over within the next couple of weeks. Crocheting a blanket for a client whose baby is due in a couple of months.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-15 08:37:00
1131

Hi girls Smartgirl I do know how you feel the times I have crawled or limped around the house bent over like a very old woman because of my back terrifys the hell out of me. That is why I continue to push myself at the gym. It stretches out my back and helps my mobility. That flu is going around grizzly. Had a lousy day here one of our water pumps, the one at the top tank won't go. It is under warranty so they are coming to fix it in the morning. We still have gravity fed water from that tank thank heavens. I tried everything thinking it must just be an airlock but no joy so today I feel as if I have achieved zilch. No washing done, no car washed, etc. Ah well tomorrow is another day.

makerealbany - 2008-07-15 18:45:00
1132

Yes I have been googling for patterns too smartgirl. One could spend hours but I limit my time. ha ha.

We have finally organised the furniture in the living area the way we want it afte shifting here late April! That's the trouble moving into a smaller place, I guess. Needed to change a couple of pieces and couldn't find exactly what I wanted but now it's all sorted and I'm in love with our wee house all over again. (Yeah I know we're only renting). Next project is our bedroom although don't need furniture changes for that just the colour scheme for linen, drapes etc. I'll save that for summer, maybe. Have to save my pennies.

Ring Scarves or Shawls.... Makerealalbany...look for Shetland patterns..or Gossamer...usually knitted on 2ply (or less)..absolutely beautiful, but very fine work. I'm knitting Shetland in miniature at the moment. me, my eyesight, my glasses AND a large magnifying glass!! lol

ixcelm8 - 2008-07-16 08:36:00
1135

Good morning grizzly Isn't it nice to get things sorted and feel like it is all cosy. I cannot wait until the cottage is finished. Have a large chair to recover. Got the material but will get to that this week some time. Water tank guy is outside in the rain been there since 8. Poor Bu- er. Still we need pressure in the system so fingers crossed. Had to stay at home instead of going to swimming lessons for my grandaughter. Thank heavens that is a covered heated pool.

makerealbany - 2008-07-16 10:11:00
1136

Hi ixcelm Thanks for the advice. I purchased some 2 ply merino wool and although I have heaps of baby things to do with it I am saving some for a fine scarf for moi. I think I have some other fine wool stashed somewhere. Hard to find things at the mo unless I go through boxes. Yuk. I do not envy you and your magnifying glass. Tried that but oh boy!!!!

makerealbany - 2008-07-16 10:18:00
1137

Checked out your listings, smartgirl. You are putting us to shame!!! Spent the day at work cleaning the office yesterday. Goodness knows when it was done last but if I'm going to spend all my time in it things had to change. Looks like I'm coming down with a cold just as I finished the last of the anti-biotics and prednisone. Been on that lot 3 times already this year. Getting older has it's drawbacks it seems.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-17 08:12:00
1138

But getting older also has advantages grizzly Ha ha. Mum often makes statements I don't think I could get away with. She is a real character. Yes I was amazed at the accumulated garbage that organisations hold on to. I spent a week cleaning out the files and one of my offices. Historical data can be important but it does need to be sifted. Lol.I can never work in a messy space. I never could understand how people can. I went to visit an old Professor and every inch of the wall, desk and most of the floor space was covered in books or papers. She is in her late seventies, yet she knew where everything was. Ha ha. The uni cleaners were banned from her office.

makerealbany - 2008-07-17 09:43:00
1139

I don't think I would want to be as young as my children again. I remember the hard times we had but there seem to be even more pressures now. I like not feeling pressured by body image or fashion trends and it's taken me forever to get to that point. My self confidence has been hard earned and I'm loving every minute of it. And I have to say I am no smaller than I was so it's definitely an attitude change as the years go by.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-17 18:45:00
1140

Right on grizzly I am just the same. If I want to glam up I do (which is seldom ha ha) but most of the time I need to wear casual cumfi clothes because of my lifestyle yet I was a very snazzy dresser when I was younger. Had my hair done once a week etc. and yes going to uni and doing Women's Studies was a real eye opener. I feel no pressure these days as far as my image and even expectations of what a girl should or should not wear at my age. When I was hitting 50 friends said you cannot wear jeans anymore. Excuse me I still do and now I've past 60. They are hardwearing and I like them. I have been thinking about a knitting machine. Just thinking mind. Ha ha. Got a b day next month and kids are asking.

makerealbany - 2008-07-18 10:55:00
1141

Knitting Machine!!!!!!!! I can't believe you would!

grizzly4 - 2008-07-19 10:36:00
1142

makereal there was a thread a while ago teabag from bfb has just got one and is sooo in love with it. I have not got the patience to have another one. I will just stick to hand knitting. They are becoming popular again. There are heaps on here just buying them and if you get in quick you might get a real bargain

smartgirl - 2008-07-19 11:34:00
1143

Well I am just thinking about it It is different. Used one years ago. Belonged to a friend. Made all the kids school jerseys, etc. Having 5 of them I could not keep up with the handknitting of them. I do enjoy handknitting and where would I put a knitting machine? Just got home from my youngest son's birthday dinner in town. I ate too much but it was a lovely day. Some of his school friends were there. They are all grown up now with families. It was really cool to see all those boys and girls and to talk with them about years gone by. No I did not feel old. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-07-19 19:54:00
1144

Well it was a lousy wet day here Had a spring clean in the cottage. I am a real collector or hoarder as my kids say. Anyway managed to get rid of some stuff by sorting out into bags for my sisters. Ha ha. That made me feel better and everything is polished and dusted and oh so tidy.

makerealbany - 2008-07-20 18:03:00
1145

How's the work going in the cottage? I love spring cleaning, I got a huge buzz walking into my office the next day. Very motivating!
Had a very 'people' weekend with family over Saturday who stayed for fish'n' chips and then friends on Sunday. Very pleasant all up. How about you girls?

grizzly4 - 2008-07-21 08:24:00

Work at a standstill at the mo Son- in Law home from overseas wed but work won't start for 8 to 10 days. The poor boy has to catch up with his family, chop heaps of firewood, attend a Seminar with A before he can do anything else. Went to the gym today. Back okay. Then went shopping for a Cricket shirt for my 14 yr old grandson. That is one of the one's in Aussi. Meeting the family for Breakfast on Wed morning. They are at a family wedding in Samoa but are here for one night before they fly back to Sydney. I have knitted my granddaughter(his sister) a Mohair scarf and matching Beanie as well as a fun, fluffy mohair hat. A loves handmade things unlike her brother so she is easy to please. Both of their birthdays are a fortnight apart. I have 8 birthdays in July and August. So there are lots of noisy Leos in our family. Lol.

makerealbany - 2008-07-21 17:37:00
1147

My own kids birthdays are only 10 days apart in August. My parents and sister are within a week of each other in July. I know how you feel, actually as the family grows there aren't too many months without at least one birthday! Our wedding anniversary this Friday: 28 years!! Boy time flies.Going out on a date haha. Dinner and a movie.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-22 08:20:00

Congrats to you grizzly and Hubby You are a rare breed these days. I feel quite sad on Wedding Anniversaries. This month it was 44 years ago I married my children's Dad. The years have swept by somehow. Have a lovely date. I have forgotten what dates are like. Ha ha. Ah well back to the housework.

makerealbany - 2008-07-22 10:29:00
1149

I don't know how you would fit in the time for dating, makerealbany!!! Baby B is now 9lb 6ozs and was 5 weeks old last Sunday. Doing very well. S is able to drive again now so is out and about visiting other young mums and doing very well. Not sleeping through the night yet. Has his awake time from either 9pm - 1am or 1am till 4am!!!! yuck.

grizzly4 - 2008-07-23 08:27:00

It is so nice to hear That bubs and Mum are doing so well. M R is 6 months old now and progressing nicely. She fits size one clothes ha ha. It is hard to believe that she did not feed well at all in the earlier weeks. All she does is eat , sleep and play. Loves her swimming lessons and so does her Mum. If I had a date I would find time don't you worry. Lol.
