I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning ladies, 1st March already. Where has summer gone? I for one am not looking forward to winter, except that I might have a trip to China on the cards with my son and his girlfriend, and that is something to look forward to - if it happens.

Those chicken pieces were a good buy popeye. Never get bargains like that up here.

Really enjoyed my mah jong yesterday afternoon, and this morning it is knit and natter and then the "bunny club girls" (widows lunch group) is having lunch at the same cafe, so I will just stay on. Several of the lunch group go to knitting, but not all of them.

This afternoon I have a real estate agent coming to give me an appraisal on the house - not that I'm really thinking of selling, but it would be nice to know what sort of money it's worth, and then I can decide whether to spend the money that is needed and put in a new kitchen and two new bathrooms. I know it needs the roof painting and the lounge, staircase and all three bedrooms need decorating, but I'm undecided about the major renovations. I don't want to spend a lot of money that would never be recovered. On the other hand, I'm sick of putting up with it the way it is, so this is just to get some advice really on whether I should have the renovations done.

Trouble is, even if I decided to sell, I haven't seen anything for sale that I would like to buy, so I doubt very much I will be selling any time soon.

Right, I need to do some tidying up and have some breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Happy birthday for yesterday Gerry, I hope you did something special. And yes, dogs seem to rescue us at times don't they.

Our students are lovely, we've a busy day ahead of us with their teachers visiting as well today.

Was knitting last evening and they were fascinated by it lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Belated birthday greetings too Gerry - hope today is a bit more positive for you.

Lawn mower here at moment so I had to get going and at least look like I'm starting the day lol. Actually have finished a load of washing not that it takes any effort apart from pushing a few buttons then going back to bed with coffee.

My grapes are just right at the moment and there are so many of them, the vine tends to be neglected and fruits well each year. The birds were taking an interest in them so I put a heavier net over the grapes and no sign of the birds now even though they could get underneath if they really wanted to.

knitting coming along nicely had a nice knitting relax when got home last evening as I find I am a bit hyped up after the exercise of aquarobics.

Have a good day All

Morning everyone,

21 days for the onions Gerry. Pleased you got through the days, Im sure it will get easier.

Friend rang last night her car key wouldnt start her car. Doesnt know if its the key or the barrel that are worn or both. And its oout at the mill where she works
So Im on standby. Either to take her to work for half a day or take her out to the car if the auto-electrical can get there.

Didnt do any crochet yesterday but will be looking forward to it later.

So I wont muck around here too much.

Have a fab day everyone

Pinterest mail me daily and today we're some hints. One was to rub deodorant on mosquito bites...easy thing to try. The nurse at the surgery said Razene available from the chemist. It was magic. Another calm sunny day in Wgtn.Loss has strange effects doesn't it. Not a death but I like the story of the the lady walking in town and bending a bit and pointing to the plane overhead only to realise her son had started school the day before. Gerry and Kuaka you have likely had similar moments.

morning ladies :) We went to the beach yesterday, was lovely to be outside on a gorgeous day.

Not knitting pics but there is a family of oyster catchers living on a very busy beach. I sat on a rock and clicked away, they got quite close too.

Morning ladies, a little bit cooler this morning, there is some cloud cover, but it is very still and the tide is coming in, so if there is no wind by the time I've had breakfast I might row out to the boat. Other than that, no plans for today except to post a parcel. If the wind gets up and I don't go to the boat, I will do some gardening and shift some more firewood.

Here's my latest knitting project:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/561843192.jpg

I have really enjoyed making these so plan to make more to (hopefully) sell on the market. My next markets are 12 and 13 - there is one on 11th when there is a boat in but at the moment there is no space for me. Waiting for someone to drop off their perch or move away so I can have a permanent space.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all - beautiful day in the bay- get my car back today has been interesting driving around in one of my sons work vehicles bright yellow with stick man painted all over it -lots of funny comments from kids - he returned home from Japan yesterday - brought me beautiful machine embroidery thread - my granddaughter wants me to make her some wings using that wash away stuff - have only ever done small sets of wings so this might be interesting - would have loved to have been let loose in the craft shop he got it from - he showed me a photo he took in a pet shop - the littkr designer dogs were something like 750,000 yen which converts to about ten thousand dollars - no wonder your visiting students enjoy your dog kiwimade
Love the photos of the oyster catchers kiwimade - beautiful birds
I used to make sets of food Kuaka - fun to make
Well better get cracking and do the car swap thing - it's going to be a good day today feel so much better

Monring everyone
Warm here, and grey.

If it wasnt for needing cat litter I wouldnt bother shopping today.

Love the photos Kiwimade, especially the middle one with the wave bubbling behind the bird.

The guys are digging out the front this morning, so there wont be any shortcut to the front door to get the groceries out.
Ill have to park in the drive and use the trolley to bring them in.

Love the baking plate Kuaka.. I never got around to doing food other that an ice cream and toffee apple on one of the big toys.

Bummed around yesterday planning a cushion. The one in the picture is done in 4ply, Ill be doing mine in 8ply so had to work out how many rows to do and then the order of the clours Im using. Will do this inbetween squares for the others.

Glad your feeling happier today Gerry.

Well I better hustle the butt and go get some food lol

lol I love your knitting project kuaka, something different to knit too.

OMG Gerry, I knew dogs could be expensive in Japan but WOW! That is a lot of money for four legs and teeth! The Furry One is one spoilt dog when we have students and there are more photos of him in Japan than we can count lol. Our last group of students left this morning and one has a dad who is a vet so they had four cats and a dog. All rescue animals so not the designer expensive kind. And our boy made a beeline for her, they certainly 'know' doggy people. We learned his name in Japanese yesterday, it's Sanzoku, meaning thief, as his name is Bandit. Or as the students call him, 'Banda'.

Might be able to finish the front of this jumper today once the washing is done.

Morning
Had a nice little "jolt" this am - 4.6 earthquake just off Napier but I was awake otherwise don't think I would have noticed it.

Looks like being another nice day - gardening weather I think, the weeds certainly enjoyed the bit of rain we had recently.

Finished the jersey and started a boy's cardy, want to put an elephant on it so have got out the graph paper to design one think it will work will wait and see there's plenty on line but all seemed the wrong size.

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing

morning ladies :) Seems like those earthquakes aren't quite finished with us yet doesn't it.

I have finished the front of the wee jumper, I seem to be knitting a lot slower but I think it's because the days are just so hot.

The hose needs to go on the garden today, the wisteria cuttings I planted aren't doing very well.

It's foggy and chilly this morning so might wait for a bit before venturing out side.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all - beautiful morning - didn't feel the quake
Jayemtoo - I have noticed you are a skeinz user - I have been asked to knit a doll that will be played with - they have given me skeinz perendale to knit it with- I have never used this wool before -not sure about it -have used their urban - have you used the perendale ?
Not sure what today's plan is - will decide after we have been to the dog park

Morning ladies, well I didn't go to the boat yesterday - had a bit of a flat battery day and was feeling a bit glum - son phoned and said he is coming up on Tuesday (he works 4 days on 4 days off) and Tuesday is the start of his next four days off, so thought we could leave the boat till he is here and he can row me out or use the outboard (which I find too heavy to lug about and lift in and out of the Safari). He will want to go fishing too if the weather is friendly.

So instead I shifted some more firewood then used the weedeater on the little scrap of lawn high up, and then did around the edges of the main lawn (also the size of a postage stamp) and on the bit on the lower lawn which I couldn't do with the mower as there's a pumpkin growing in the way.

Might do some gardening this morning and I have some op shop mending to do, two cute soft toys need repairs, one the seam has come undone on the back of a cute dog, and the other, the dog's nose is hanging off and needs replacing.

I've started some more cakes - thought I would try to do a few and put them on plates to hopefully sell at the market, I'm enjoying them.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
I had a flat day yesterday too Kuaka, we did the shopping and that was it. I have to duck up this morning and do some banking.

There are a few weeds well grass that has grown in the short time since I weeded the front garden. so Ill pull those out later.

Erin will be here later so that will be good.

Wow Dogs are expensive in Japan. I think they are expensive here too.. I miss having a dog.

I have hit the hundred squares. So 44 to go. Ill concentrate on that, then do the cushion cover . I will enjoy the break much better that way.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Another truckie has sat on his horn as a car had a near miss with his truck this morning so I have been on the phone to Land Transport to find out if they can paint a yellow line outside our home. There is a slight rise and you don't realise until it is too late there is oncoming traffic when you overtake. Soooo many near misses there, we are hearing frustrated truckies pretty much every day now. The lady I spoke to is passing it on to the road team with my name tagged to the request and for them to let us know what is decided. Now we wait and see what happens.

I thought I had finished the front of the jumper only to find it was a pattern repeat short on one side for the shoulder. No biggie, is easily fixed.

Washing machine has finished the last load so will go and hang it out and move the hose while outside. Thanks goodness we are on bore water.

Hi Gerry
I find the perendale is quite similar to the Urban, just not machine washable although I know it has been washed on the "wool" cycle with no apparent ill effect.
I'm knitting perendale at the moment as it had the colour I preferred to that in the Urban range.
Should think it would be good for toys.
Happy knitting.

Morning
Hope they do put the markings on the road Kiwimade - must be a worry hearing the horns I'd always be on tender hooks in case of an accident.

Had a relaxing day yesterday pottering around and knitting until mid pm when sister rang to say there had been an unexpected delivery of an ingredient for the kitty litter to the factory but the truck driver had left it at the door as no one there. As the factory is down a long drive and not the easiest to find we weren't too sure where he had left the stuff so went to check, good job we did as it had been left outside the neighbours front gate.

There were 20 x 25kg bags to shift so took several trips in my small car as didn't want to overload it and upset the suspension. Got it all done before the neighbours came home from work so they are non the wiser about the unsolicited "gift" sitting outside their place.

Have started putting an elephant onto the cardy I'm knitting, it looks small on the graph but I think it will be quite big on the garment, fun to play around with.

Good Morning from Sunny Napier. I have been busy over the last couple weeks and just pop in read what happen and out again. Lost two very good friends in the last 12 days and it has taken a toll on me.RIP Lisa and Alice.

So what else have I been doing. A batch of Tomato Sauce is now in my cupboard and another batch this w/end. Crab apples are just about ready for making Jelly. Still have peaches to bottle and berries to turn into jam when it gets cooler. In between times I have been working on my three piece knitting. (Hat,Gloves and Scarf).. Cut out two bucket bags and 4 project bags.

Mr M is not walking as well as he was 2 or 3 weeks ago. Keeping an eye on him when he moving around. Wait for hospital appointment. My lower arm is out of plaster and just wear a support at present.

What a busy lot you have all been. Kuaku knitting up a storm with her knitting and selling at the markets. We have the ships in here, but no markets.
Popeye hooking away on her bright colourful blankets.Op shopping and keeping Mr P in line. How the outdoor chairs coming along?
Kiwimade busy with her oversea students and enjoying taken them around the countryside. Knitting away for Grandchildren and gardening.
I know I have not listed everyone but know you been busy crafting and helping out family where and when needed.

Off now as i need to to do a tidy up as I have a couple of friends over for lunch and then some felting in the shade of the Silk Tree.

Whatever you do today Enjoy!

morning ladies :) I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your friends, sunflowers. Shakes you up a bit doesn't it. And I bet you miss them too.

I'm trying to convince MrK we need a crab apple tree, just for the jelly! But we have decided to espalier some feijoa trees along the side of the garage. Amazing what you can grow in small spaces.

I've almost finished the shawl collar for this jumper and I suspect I may finish it this weekend.

Our students have given us lots of 'tea towels' over the last 12 months. Well, I think they are tea towels lol, heaven knows what else they could be used for. Many of them haven't been overlocked so I will do that today and they can be used. I also need to iron while the day is cool. I hate ironing but love the end result.

Happy knitting :)

I had an awesome sleep last night, but boy am I paying for it today lol. But the crinkles will iron out once meds kick in lol.
My mission for the day is cobwebs and sorting the freezers. Im picking blackberries now and theres just very little rooom. And thats with 3 freezers lol.

Morning ladies, a late start to the day. I was quite busy in the garden yesterday (when I eventually got motivated enough to do something) and then had a visit from the agent who came to appraise my house the other day. Not terribly impressed with what she thinks it's worth, not much more than when we bought 10 years ago, and in comparison with what is on the market, pokey little places with no view are on the market for not a lot less than she says this is worth. Oh well. I'm not planning on selling - at least not yet awhile so I guess it doesn't matter. I rather got the impression that she wanted to list it for a low price to get a quick sale, every time I said I'd like to do this or that to the place, she said not to bother.

Have to pop to town later, I've repaired the two cute soft toy dogs for the op shop so will drop them in, check the mail and then spend the afternoon at the club playing mah jong. This is an extra to my usual Tuesday afternoon, and whether I go or not depends on how many are able to play. Today we have enough for two tables apparently. Will grab some lunch while I'm in town.

Very sad about your friends sunflowers. A few years back I "lost" 3 very good friends within a couple of months, one was killed in a car crash, one went to Germany to live - so probably never see her again - and the third went to Australia but she is moving back here in the next few weeks, so that's good. Okay the two who moved away weren't actually "lost" but it felt like it at the time. Still left me feeling empty.

I am going to attempt to start de-cluttering the "junk" room, as I refer to it. That should give you an idea of what a mission it will be. I know it is going to take a while, but a start is a step in the right direction.

Have a super day everyone.

kuaka - 2017-03-04 10:56:00
11425

morning ladies :) How's the decluttering going kuaka? You could take a few things into the op shop with you each week.

I've finished the shawl collar and now working on the sleeves. Was a bit of a 'this 'n that' day yesterday as I was also helping MrK build his shed storage thingy for his timber stash. Posts have been concreted in so that's the hardest bit done. The heaviest work is to come though when we move his timber stash. It's not just us ladies who have stashes of stuff lol. He finished making our daughter's jewelry box too so will take a photo of it for his 'portfolio'.

Lawns need mowing so will do that today or tomorrow. My ribs are feeling better, some days they hurt more than others though. It was three weeks Friday just gone that I hurt them so it's taking a while. I can only imagine how the lady popeye helped when out shopping must be feeling.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2017-03-05 08:31:00
11426

Morning ladies, the decluttering is off to a good start. Don't worry kiwimade, I have taken heaps of stuff to the op shops, both the one here and some further afield. The friend that I work with on Monday mornings thought I was going to take all Mr Ks clothes to our shop, but I said "no, if I saw someone walking down the street in one of Mr Ks distinctive jerseys I would freak out", so I took them out of town. Amongst the stuff in the junk room that needs being rid of, is an old bathroom unit which is about 2+ metres long, but it's rubbish, so it's going to the tip. I have a pile of stuff at the top of the driveway and have a chap organised to come and take it all away for me. I still have to add a couple of huge old tvs, and a dead fridge. Once I've cleared everything off the top of the old bathroom unit, my son can help me carry it out and put it on the rubbish pile, and then the room will look a lot clearer. Just have to find somewhere to put everything. Hmmmmm.

Really enjoyed my afternoon yesterday. No plans for today, but I think I will do some gardening before it gets too hot, and then a bit more in the junk room, and hope to do some sewing as well. Want to make "daughter-in-law" an apron, she really loves cooking and when she's here always uses one of mine (not that I mind) but I thought she might like one of her own, and I've appliqued her name across the top. Just have to finish it, and she'll be up on Tuesday. And I have a dress to shorten for me.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
Busy busy peoples.
Decluttering is good for the soul I reckon. Mines pretty much under control now that the garage is sorted.

I am however considering getting rid of the bulk of my childrens books. The ones put out by Childrens Press and, Dean and Sons. I will keep the Enid Blyton hard backs tho. The secret 7 and famous fives I have are all paper backs so they can go too. I will keep all my annuals tho. one of them was printed in 1940.

I did 7 squares yesterday, still have to sew the ends in.

Have to pop up the road this monring and then Ill get back to my hook.

Good Morning Everyone. Busy day yesterday. Friend for lunch and then some felting. Did not get it finished as it got too hot in the shade of the the Silk Tree.
Put away the tomato sauce and will do another batch either today or Monday. The tomatoes are still firm.

Mr S and I went down to the water front last evening and he dropped me off and I walked around to what known as Perfume Point ( got its name as I was told because of the smell from the outlet (s) years ago). Watched one trading ship leave another come in. Very busy port. As I walked I watched the sky change colour to a bright red. It's a lovely walk to do in the evening after such a hot day.

Up and out into the gardens this morning before it gets too hot. Out with the weeds and fresh soil wheel borrowed on to it. Friend dropped off a load for us. Had to move it quickly or I would wake up and have none left. Have no other plans for today. Craft room is starting to look like a craft room after having everything damped into it.

Kuaku , what a job ahead of you cleaning up your junk room. good to hear your son and girlfriend are heading your way for a few days.Enjoy their company. Perhaps you get your trip out to the boat as well..
I could do with someone like Mr K around kiwimade who like working with timber. Give Mr S a motor to work on and he a happy chap. Took plans of a wrapping board to The Men's Shed last week to see if I could get one built One of the guys there was a customer of our for years is going to make it for me.Cost scones/cakes for morning tea.Somethings never change .Lol.

Well finished my coffee so time to go.
Have a great day everyone.

I know what you mean kuaka about getting rid of the clothes. When my mum passed I burnt her clothes. I think they must hold so much of the spirit of a person and didnt want anyone else wearing them. I don't have any regrets about it years on.

mndy1 - 2017-03-05 21:55:00
11431

Morning ladies, much cooler this morning, definitely an autumnal nip in the air first thing, but it was still very warm during the day yesterday.

kiwimade the "junk" room will probably be used as storage room but for "stuff" rather than "junk" if that makes sense.

mndy1, I still haven't finished clearing out my husband's clothes, I still have all his shirts, suits and his snooker finery, along with quite a few pairs of shoes, some of which are brand new. The bulk of it has gone though.

sunflowers - what on earth is a wrapping board?

I didn't get any gardening done yesterday, but there's always tomorrow morning - I'm guessing it will be too hot this afternoon when I get home from the op shop, but it might rain tomorrow, so then it will have to wait a bit longer. Nobody else is going to do it, so it will always be there waiting!

I shortened my dress yesterday but didn't do any more to Grace's apron, so must try to do that this afternoon or evening as she will be up tomorrow.

Well I should get myself moving, might even have time to do a little bit of sewing before I go to work.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) 'stuff' makes perfect sense kuaka lol.

So much for thinking I would finish the wee jumper over the weekend, one sleeve to go and it won't take long to knit.

Our nieghbour said we could raid their apple tree, I have already cooked and frozen a massive bucket full and will do another today. It's a grafted tree so has two varieties on the one tree and is absolutely laden with apples. You couldn't even see where I had picked over the weekend. And I need to prepare the ground for two roses I'll be buying in June when Wairere Garden Centre have their new season's stock. So that will be today as well as helping MrK with his lean-too/cupboard thingy.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies.

When Mum died I was lucky, I kept a watch , a couple of skirts and tops and a nightie and dressing gown set we had got her, but she never wore. My BIL and SIL were up from Waverly and she runs the oppy down there so they took everything else.

My brother came and took the furnature cos my nephew had just moved out of home, so it was handy for him.
And I sent her fake flowers to a friend.

So it was very easy for me, and I very quickly had my craft room set up.

Ohh Kiwimade you lucky thing having access to the apple tree.

You remind me Kuaka that I should also be making myself a couple of aprons. I tend to keep and old skirt and tshirt for cooking in, especially baking. but itwould be nice to have a couple of pretty aprons.

I have 34 squares to go now. Im going to get them done then join that one up while doing the cushion covers.

I went through the freezers yesterday and have made space for the blackberries. Found some more fruit so will get extra sugar this week. And make some jam.

I stumbled on the driveway this morning when I took the rubbish out so my hip is rather tender.

Have a fab day all

Morning all - beautiful morning here in the Bay - going to be a warm one so will head out to the dog park soon - got the fright of my life on Friday my little dog wanders way off the path - Mr G used to collect walnuts from all the banks of the storm drains so we were well away from anyone else - a rough looking man on a bike appeared beside me - dog lead in his hand but no dog in sight - he saw my dog a very good looking staffi - but is actually a powder puff - anyway he started calling him - Ash started to run to me - next thing this creep says - he has no f---n nuts - meaning he had been fixed up so no use to him for whatever he intended to use him for and rode off - I was a good half hour away from help - would not have been able to do a thing - my sons voice was ringing in my ears about my bad habit of leaving my phone in the car all the time - they sell staffis for a lot of money to the wrong people
A friend of mine suggested that I make a quilt out of all Mr Gs ironman and marathon finisher shirts for my only grandson who inherited all his medals - this time last year we were in Taupo - my two sons did the lake Taupo ironman - first time in about 5 years without their Dad - but he still managed to run a few kms with the youngest one who faded near the end - I videoed a few minutes of them together - priceless
I am off out to swap a jar of my strawberry and rhubarb jam for some tomatoes - thinking of doing some more onions Popeye - they should be good to barter - it's a page on Facebook - good fun really

OMG Gerry, that was a close call! Keep your phone with you! It is our greatest fear someone will take our boy. He's a Jack Russell and super friendly. He has been neutered too so hopefully that's a deterrent. I love the idea of the quilt, will bring back memories as you sew as well.

Right-o, time for a cuppa then back out to replant a piece of this red hot poker. If it dies, it dies, I'm not fussed. MrK loves it, I don't. It's one of those compromises you make at times.

Gerry, let your local police station know about the man, they will keep an eye out.The quilt sounds like a good idea. Slow day here, I have a nasty cold and only managing to get things done, on holiday next week so have to get the kitchen spotless for relief cook, Not much happening craft wise am still struggling to get my little projects finished but thats a time issue and things are starting to slow down

Gerry please keep your phone with you. And espcially if it has a camera on it. Even if you only get a back shot you wont have to remember clothes.

Yep we have a local Barter group here too. Great way of sharing the bounty of our gardens and baking. MrP likes it too cos if Im making a cake for a swap I pop and extra in for him too. I dont remember the last time I made only one cake at a time lol.

Had a bit of a slow morning, have done 2 squares and had a long chat with my SIL. We are like minded with our preserving, baking, sewing and wool crafts. Shes been knitting socks for so long I call her the sock lady lol.

I know what you mean re the compromise Kiwimade, but we do what we have to eh lol.

Right a wee catch up on here and then back to the squares..

Afternoon
Rather a worry Gerry, yes a photo on the phone is handy to have if you can take one on the sly. A few years ago I pretended to take a photo of some cheeky girls pinching my mandarins, told them their teacher would love to see it, didn't see the girls again lol.

Another great niece arrived yesterday, getting harder to keep track of all the greats - 16 great nieces and 11 great nephews now with another boy due next month. Some live in Australia and I have very little to do with them. It's funny but I have most to do with my sisters families and I know those little ones although none live in Hawkes Bay even better than a brother's family who do live here.

Had a 'spring clean' day yesterday and did the whole house through and quite a few extra jobs. Lovely feeling of accomplishment and slept well last night.

Afternoon Ladies. Sorry kuaku it should read warping board. Its uses to prepare the yarn for weaving on the loom.

We packed up mother's clothes and took them to an outer town op shop. I keep two or three pieces as well.

Just don't want a repeat of the last 30 odd hours. Mr S was rushed into Hospital after he ended up on the floor(This time I did not try to get him up, I just phone St Johns). Just so pleased it was not a broken hip.Going to be there for a few days for them to look at his meds. .

Gerry ,not sure which dog park you use please contact the police as you will not be the first or the last person he fronts.. My neighbor is a dog trainer and there is areas now she will not take her dog or others to.It's sad,but that how things are here in H.Bay.Yes, do make sure you have your phone on you.

Well I better make a move as I need to take some things over for Mr S that he asked for.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone..

morning ladies :) I'm off shortly to work in Dad's garden for a bit. I will dig out the last of the brick edging and spread some soil on his lawn ready for grass seed. His lawn has lots of bumps and hollows and not safe for him on his walker. Then grocery shopping.

Almost finished the sleeve, was knackered last evening and kept dozing off on the couch. Only half to go so not much knitting.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, oh dear sunflowers, I do hope Mr S will come right soon, I know it's an awful worry, and whilst you tell yourself that hospital is the best place for them at times like this, you'd still rather they were at home and well.

A busy morning in the op shop yesterday - we had a sale on, all clothing half price, so people were in for the bargains. Also it's that time of year when the backpackers (those that have been here all summer) start departing and bringing in all their stuff that they can't take with them, like 15 pairs of socks, plus several "orphan" socks, shoes, and odd bits of household stuff that they have acquired during their stay, and of course they want to keep the bags that holds all the stuff, so you have to empty it out while they wait. Not always convenient. When we finished our shift the back room where we do the sorting looked like a tip. The boss was pretty impressed with the mending job I did on a nice possum/merino waistcoat, you couldn't see where the hole had been.

Son is due here sometime today. He's got a key so can let himself in if he arrives while at mah jong. Have to go today as I'm on "afternoon tea duty" which just means I take the milk and make the tea for everyone. Usually several of us get stuck in and do the dishes. It's not too bad and we only do it about 3 times a year as there's about 18 of us on the roster.

Going to do my little bit of ironing before breakfast and then after breakfast I want to try to finish the apron I'm making for Grace.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all -my sister from out of town is on her way here for the day - she never has a nice thing to say about anybody - especially my other siblings - who she hasn't spoken to for 10 years or more -so have decided today I am going to tell her I don't want to hear any of it - have been awake half the night practising my lines! She was diabolical after the funeral - nothing we did was right - so today is the day I stand up to her! Well I hope I do

Well gerry, I hope it all goes well for you - sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and say what is on your mind, or how you are feeling. It always amazes me that having the same parents doesn't guarantee that siblings will be friends - I know my son and daughter don't talk but that's a long story and is to do with when their father died and left everything to my daughter, cutting my son out of the will. As I said a long story.

Me I just have the one sister, and I love her dearly, I just wish she didn't live in the UK. I don't think we have ever argued about anything once she moved out of home and got married - when we were kids we fought like cat and dog.

Morning everyone
Be careful with your digging Kiwimade.
Goodluck at Mahjon Kuaka..

Ohh Gerry just pretend we are all standing behind you , giving you the strength to tell your sister how it is. Sometimes they just need to be told. Ive told both my livinh brothers how it is at odd times, and it helps rid you of the tension they create.
Can't choose yoour family but soo pleased you can choose your friends who become family.

I have to go do my INR again this morning. Its a tad bit high. Im thinking it might be the extra fish oil capsules Im taking. And funny enough my SILs is high as well at the mo.

Then its warrant time on the car, which explains my lack of sleep last night.

Have 29 squares to do, so Im getting there Yayay.

Have a fab day everyone

Cheers you two - my other sister and my brother are fabulous - had another sister who passed - but I have always tried to ignore her nastiness but the other siblings have been fantastic and it seems disloyal to hear it - probably because I now realise life is too blimmin short to deal with rubbish
Yes it was all over money of which there was plenty to go round
Yesterday afternoon I had a visit from a group of girls - they are now in their fifties -who used to work for me - we have always kept in touch - had a lovely afternoon laughing and talking about old times so beggared if I can be bothered anymore with rubbish
I will sit between her and the door so she has to listen

Good idea Gerry, I wouldn't have thought of that!

kuaka - 2017-03-07 10:22:00

Finished the apron, just need to press the ties. I hope she will like it. Looks like they won't be here until either late tonight or sometime tomorrow as son has gone to a funeral - mother of one of his moto-cross buddies from years ago, not sure but I suspect she was about my age. Apparently the friend who told him she has passed away said she was "quite old" but I don't remember her as being much older than me, so I guess that means I must be almost "quite old". Perish the thought!

kuaka - 2017-03-07 12:18:00

You go for it Gerry.. It may upset you to do it and afterwards but then you will feel much better having gotten it off your chest.

Lol Kuaka re the "quite old" you dont sound old by any means.

Im 52 in may and dont being called Lady, but I guess I am that now lol.

Car passed its warrant thank goodness..

Its been a lovely 24 hours, we have learnt that the "karma" bus has stopped with a few people we know... Ive always told MrP we only had to hope we were around to see it happen.

*chants... go Gerry! go Gerry! go Gerry!* You go girl! As you say life is too short for this kind of nonsense.

lol @ 'old', it's all in the mind of the beholder I guess.

Done dad's garden but don't need to sort out the lawn. He told my sister she has to organise it and I wasn't her lacky. They had quite the row so glad I wasn't there to hear it.

Time for a late lunch.

Well it's done - this sounds awful but just realised what a liar she is - she went to take off as I thought she would so I stood in the doorway until I had my say - my poor dog got very anxious - anyway she now knows that if she does want to contact me there are boundaries about what I want to hear so she left here denying everything - saying she has no wish to have any contact with our siblings so that's that I guess - feel so much better for it - thank you all for your support - I know it's early but I might just have a cider
