I reckon you can never have too much wool either

morning ladies :) Ohhh that poor lady popeye, she will be pretty sore today I would imagine.

I'm going to mow the lawn before the day becomes too hot and the wind comes up. Being rural it doesn't matter what time I do it. Then maybe some 'me time' in the garden - we have students arriving next week and I like the garden to look nice for them. Many of them live in apartment buildings and don't have gardens so they love to wander through it and take photos.

I had an awesome day yesterday with the big kids, so much fun. And it's swimming season too which they all enjoy.

Better move, have finished my coffee.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Glad you had a lovely time with the older kids Kiwimade. And enjoy your Me time.
Jayemtoo theres nothing like helping someone to move to realise you have too much of your own stuff eh.

Yes I imagine Mrs Sparks to be very achy and sore today.. Im going to write to the managers at Lynmall, they need to do something about the floor at the door. Its dangerous.
I hope she didnt dislocate her kneecap, but it sure looked like it..

Have to nip out for groceries this morning and will have a look at our New opp shop. Its a St Johns one, so now we have 3 to choose from .

Im quite surprised I wasnt as sore as I thought I would be, so thats a bonus.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, what a frustrating day I had yesterday. After fluffing around all morning doing nothing and achieving even less, I decided I would do some sewing. I was quickly bored with that and decided I would dig out a bag full of teddy arms, legs, bodies and heads, and would finish off a teddy in case I have a stall at the market tomorrow. I searched through every nook and cranny, cupboard, drawer, container etc in the sewing room, and couldn't find the bag. I gave up, then remembered it was in Mr Ks wardrobe, so settled in to finish the teddy, then couldn't find the right eyes or joints. It's now in the naughty corner.

Waiting to hear if I have a stall tomorrow or not, and yesterday I had a reminder that I am invited to a "thank you get-together" at the op shop for all the volunteers. Course if I'm at the market I might not be able to get away - if it's quiet I'll try to pop in if only for half an hour.

Undecided what to do today, lots I "could" do, nothing I feel like doing. Might go to Kerikeri and buy some more pins/staples for the weed matting, and have a nose at the op shops, and get a few groceries. Make a decision after breakfast.

Popeye, it's awful seeing someone crash to the floor. I was walking along the waterfront with a friend one day and she missed her footing and went down like a sack of spuds. The noise of her knees and elbow hitting the pavement was sickening. Luckily she wasn't badly hurt but shaken, and I felt terrible, one minute we were walking along chatting and suddenly she was in a heap.

Found my owl pattern yesterday so that's a bonus.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Hope all are well.

Mixed bag of weather out there. But for sure if I hung the washing out, it would rain lol.

Our houselady didnt arrive yesterday, when she got to one of her Older darlings she found her very sick. I knew there would be a reason why she couldnt make contact.. So she is coming this morning.

Woke up this morning and my hands are aching, and I realised its cos I havent crochet since Wednesday. So you definetely need to use it or lose it.
Re did my hip about 30 mins ago, so Im not happy to say the least.

But I will plod along, I have washing to put away and then will get back on my hook.

Have afab day everyone

morning ladies :) I have been outside making the most of the cooler morning but now getting too hot to work outside. My garden is behaving like it is autum already, oh well, will go with the flow. Washing is on, bathroom and loo clean and will put the kettle on in a sec.

You are right about use it or loose it popeye, so important to keep moving and 'doing' things.

MrK is making our daughter a jewellery box out of kahikatea off the farm they are working on. It's a lovely blond wood and she is pretty excited to have something her dad has made.

Back to stitching this afternoon. When the weather cools I will start knitting for our grandson.

happy knitting :)

Morning
Wrong time of year I know but got a bit of the spring clean bug today. Having a great time cleaning out cupboards and getting rid of stuff, if I haven't bothered with something for several years then it can go. Just hope the enthusiasm lasts until I clean up the mess I seem to be making.

So agree about use it or loose it, I tend to stiffen up so quickly these days so must make the effort to keep moving one of the reasons I like my fitbit so much is that it reminds me I have to keep walking wether I feel like it or not - also can't have the young ones getting ahead of me lol.

Didn't get quite as much knitting done last evening as somehow my eyes decided to close while watching TV. Must admit had had a busyish day we "tidied" up the factory in the morning and now it is set out in a much more logical order. We've been there about 6 months now and Its not until you are actually using a space can you get an idea of where things could best be placed.
Then in pm spent quite a while in town doing odd jobs so quite a bit of walking but certainly had a good feeling of achievement by end of the day even if couldn't keep awake while watching TV.

Enjoy your day

My homelady has been we had a lovely chat, we agree on soo much its lovely.. Her elderly lady is to the paliative stage so days like yesterday may happen a bit now.. I dont mind tho and if I was in her shoes Id be doing the same.
Shes going to come and weed the little garden out the front for me, its only a quick job if you dont have bung hips.

Jayemtoo, isnt that the way when your cleaning up, you end up in a bigger mess. But I always find it very theraputic and liberating.

Ive realised Ill have to hustle my butt and get my daffodils planted soon too so they can have some cold winter first.

Right a play on here and finally to my hook.

Afternoon ladies, just home from the market. Made two sales fairly early on in the morning and then nothing for the rest of the day. In the end I decided to finish the teddy bear, and fell asleep in the chair before I had finished embroidering his nose. That was also before tea, so when I woke up, I just went to bed, and was starving this morning.

I took teddy along and finished embroidering his nose at the market and he sold within half an hour. Some chap spotted him, asked could he pick him up and show his wife who was at another stall, and seconds later he was back and paid. I didn't even think to take a photo of him before he sold. He was quite cute though.

Ended up going to Kawakawa yesterday and bought the staples/pins for the weed matting, and thought I would use some tomorrow, but there's a market tomorrow, so it will now have to wait till Tuesday as I'm at the op shop on Monday morning. At least now I have the pins I can put the matting down as and when I feel like it, then I will have to get some plants - I feel a spending spree coming on.

I tried tidying my sewing room the other day and now it looks as though it's been burgled!

Right it's wine o'clock so I'm going to sit out on the deck and enjoy a glass.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

morning ladies :) Yesterday I tripped over a tree root and went flying through the air landing on my front. I was winded but luckily missed the concrete garden edging. Twisted my ankle slightly but in the wee hours I woke with pain in my ribs. Seems I have bruised them and they hurt like crazy. I feel like I have been hit by a bus. I've taken some pain relief and that should kick in soon. I need to get the windows cleaned before Wednesday when our students arrive and had planned to do them today. Will see how I go.

My ribs could be the perfect excuse to craft today. Not that we need excuses lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Oh dear Kiwimade - not nice at all,do look after yourself.

I've been having a battle with a local cat, not sure who it belongs to but over past few weeks it has decided that my garden boxes are the ideal place for a toilet and has fouled up each one and dug up many of the plants. It really has been disgusting I had tried putting nets over but it tore these away and left another pile!! Anyway BiL gave me a spray with citronella in it and for 2 days the netting has been untouched.

Had a great day yesterday with the sorting out, got rid of quite a bit and put things where hopefully I'll remember where they are lol. in between times I read and knitted to recharge my batteries for a bit more sorting so finished one cardy and started another .

Enjoy your day and be careful everyone

jayemtoo - 2017-02-12 08:49:00
11311

Morning everyone,

Oouch be gentle with yourself today Kiwimade. Maybe some arnica will help bring the bruising out quicker for you. Oh and Ive just realised you dont have your karcher to whizz around the windows now either.

Awesome re the teddy bear selling Kuaka. Can I ask how much it costs to have a stall.. They are greedy here.

Ohh annoying re the cats vs plants Jayemtoo, glad you have something sorted for it..

I have more washing to fold today and then Ill sit and crochet. Have to nip up the road first, they didnt have any of our bread on Friday so hopefully Ill get some today.

Overcast here, dont think it will rain till later tho. The night temp was good last night. Missy is enjoying the slightly lower temps.

Have a fab day all, and no more injuries

popeye333 - 2017-02-12 09:10:00
11312

yep popeye, it's back to the old manual window washing lol. I'll get a new Karcher this month but boy do I miss it. I've been hanging out to use our fly buy points to get it and it will be our last fly buy purchase for a while. We are swapping to air points as much as possible. I did a few windows and am now regretting it. So now I sit with very sore ribs looking at windows worse than when I started lol. Oh well, I tried.

MrK has gone to help a friend get his ute started so the morning is pretty much mine.

The Furry One is also enjoying the lower temps, we are so lucky not to be in Aussie with their high temps. 45 degrees is a tad too hot for me!

kiwimade64 - 2017-02-12 10:25:00
11313

Afternoon ladies, just home from the market. A slightly better day today, someone bought some gloves from me just as I was packing up, so that brought the total up a bit. It's only $10 for the stall popeye, but you have to be a member of the arts and crafts group, and that costs the princely sum of $15 a year, so pretty good really, and now that I've got to know them all, they are all very friendly and helpful. I felt when I first joined that some of them didn't really want me there as some of the things I was selling were things they were selling too - but they're all different, someone else makes tea cosies, but they're different to mine, someone else sells scarves, but again they are different to mine so even when we're trying to sell the same items, they aren't the same style. Let the customer decide which one they want I reckon.

Take care kiwimade, you will be sore for a few days I suspect, and you would be lucky that you didn't hit the concrete and do some serious damage.

We had a shower of rain just as we were packing up and putting everything in the car, but it's stopped now. Don't think it would have been enough to help the garden at all. It was enough to send puss indoors, she was in waiting for me, but she's gone out again now.

Right, time for me to put my feet up and relax for an hour - not that I've been rushed off my feet today, but it is nice to sit in a comfortable chair and relax with a glass of red, so that's what I'm about to do.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

kuaka - 2017-02-12 16:10:00
11314

Wow that is a good price Kuaka... Glad you made a few pennies today.
I imagine its the same for all "Outsiders" , until you become a regular.

We had a short sharp shower about lunchtime. The temp is dropping now, so hopefully another good sleep to come.

Got some hoki at NW so have cut that up and frozen them on plastic plates to free flow 7.5 meals for two for $16. Was originally just over $29. So I did those, picked the " Stubborn" beans that refuse to stop producing no matter how many times they are sprayed. Will freeze them in the morning. Enough for two meals.. Have mixxed the last of last years blackberries with the sugar and lemon juice for the morning. Measured and marked the wood for the chairs, my house ladies hubby will come and saw that up for us. Folded the washing. And cooked tea.

So a busy day, no crochet but its nice to have some energy, so long as I alternate the standing and sitting im good lol.

Going to watch the OJ Simpson thing on Discovery tonight, I didnt think I would like it, but man their police mucked up big time.

Time for a wee play here, will sort the rubbish later and thats me for the day

Morning everyone,
A grey very humid day here today..

And heres me going to be freezing beans and making jam in this sticky heat lol...
Enjoyed getting so much done yesterday, and I must say my blood sugars have been improving on the activity too.. Normally Im hibernating in the summer. But Ive only had a couple of days when I wasnt coping well.

I hope to get to my hook later..

Hope everyone is well and keeping their fingers busy

Have a fab day

morning ladies :) Am a tad tender this morning but definitely feel like I am on the mend. At least I an breathe now without my ribs hurting.

I've run out of thread for my hardanger so will put that aside until we go to Tauranga next where I can buy some. Will have to dig out something else to do, not sure what but will no doubt find something to do.

Good you have made some sales at the markets kuaka, I would think it's not only $$ making but a social outlet as well once you become a 'regular and local'. I saw a cute tea cosy on FB called 'sack of mice' and found the pattern on ravelry. Have saved it to my library until I'm ready to knit it. I don't knit tea cosies as a rule but this one tickled my fancy.

Happy knitting :)

Glad your improving Kiwimade...

I saw the tea cosy too and thought of Kuaka... I should have tagged her but forgot.

The jam is sitting on the bench popping away. I got 7 jars and a tiny meatpaste jar with juice and one blackberry in it lol..

The fish is packed up, the beans are freezing on a tray, will bag them up later.

And the mountain of dishes are done. Apart from those used since.

Feeling quite domestic at the mo lol

morning ladies :) I'm not quite so delicate this morning but the ribs are still sore when I sneeze, cough or laugh. Our students arrive tomorrow so I had better be 99.9% better by then!

Not sure what the day will bring but I might do some crochet.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone, a grey humid day again.. but yay at least there is no sun.
Glad your feeling like your improving Kiwimade. I sooo know about hurting when you cough, sneeze etc.
Had a call from my brother early this morning., My uncle passed away at 3am this morning. His cancer was running riot. Brother will pass on some hugs for us, cos our GP has suggested we dont take the bugs there.
It will either be a massive funeral or my Aunty will try and just have family.

Got my frour squares done yesterday amongst everything else. And Ill be crocheting again today.

Have a fab day everyone... I have to try and raise my twin to tell him now

popeye333 - 2017-02-14 09:14:00
11320

Morning ladies, popeye, sorry to hear about your uncle. I don't have any uncles left. Only had two to start with, Dad had a brother and so did Mum, and that was it. Must be close to 30 years ago that my mum's brother died and not long afterwards my Dad's brother died. He was the best uncle. He gave me away when I married my first husband.

Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better kiwimade.

I have just cleaned up the most awful mess in the kitchen. Bought some plums yesterday and some were a bit squished when I got them home, so last night I put the squishy ones in a pot to cook, and next thing Trev the Terror is on the phone. I was expecting a couple of friends round for drinks and news catch up so I sat on the front deck listening to Trev prattle on while I waited. Next thing I smelled the plums. The juice was everywhere, all over the hob, the bench, the floor, and my friends arrived. So I just had to leave it and it's taken me half an hour to clean up this morning. Now I still have to hose the deck and furniture down as I knocked a glass of red flying last night. Grrrrr. What a waste!

Have a friend and her husband coming round this morning to hopefully set up a new freeview box which should mean I can get prime because I can't get it at the moment. Fingers crossed.

I better have breakfast seeing as I didn't have any tea last night, just nibbles.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Great that you are improving Kiwimade. Sorry to hear about your Uncle Popeye, yes best not to take bugs into a crowd.
Oh dear re boiled over plums Kuaka I clan imagine the mess as a little juice can go a very long way!

Still battling with the cat - put a net over the garden box so it did its business on top of the net - yuk!! Have sprayed more citronella around and looks like I may need to respray each day for a while until it gets the message that vegetable gardens are not toilets.

Finished another cardy yesterday and now casting on another small one, it's been too hot to think so enjoyed just knitting without having to concentrate.

Oh dear jayemtoo re the cat. One way to get the message to it, if you can actually catch it coming onto your property is to spray it with the garden hose. Cats notoriously hate water, and a few dousings should do the trick - but of course, it's not always possible to do that.

kuaka - 2017-02-14 12:19:00
11323

morning ladies :) I am sorry to hear about your uncle, popeye. I still have four, but they getting on a bit.

Damed cat jayentoo, I would lend you our Furry One as he chases anything furry with a squeak. Unfortunately can't guarantee a happy outcome. Our new neighbours have cats and between them, their dog and our boy, there are no rabbits around. We do worry the cats will visit but I think the Furry One's barking at them is warning enough he is here.

Our students arrive this afternoon and leave Friday morning. So will blat around with the vacuum (as well as I can blat lol) and give the bathroom and loo a once over. Ribs are still sore but I am on less pain relief which I'm happy about.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2017-02-15 08:15:00
11324

Morning
think it is a ghost cat as Ive never actually seen it just what it leaves behind. thanks for the offer of the furry one Kiwimade, that is a bit of the problem I think as I don't have any animals so they feel that my place is a free for all. I had a nice little black cat from next door that used to sit under my bushes and I think that kept the others away but it has gone to a new home. If I catch the annoying one I certainly will be giving it a bath!!

Have niece and her family staying with my sister as they have had an unexpected trip for a funeral. Not sure what we will be doing today but it is the 6 yr olds birthday so that has to be celebrated as all the plans for it have had to be put on hold until they get home again.

Im trying to work out a pattern for 4ply booties I have heaps of 3ply and DK ones but no 4ply ones that I like - not even on ravelry - think I'm getting fussy lol.

Have an great day

Morning ladies, overcast this morning and we have rain forecast but not sure if it is today, as I dozed off in the chair during the news/weather. I could check the met service web site, but regardless of what they say, we can't do anything about it. Market tomorrow, would prefer not to be lugging everything into the hall in the rain, but if that's what happens, so be it.

Pleased to hear you are healing kiwimade, the only trouble with taking too many pain killers is they do tend to cause problems with constipation. Some are worse than others, anything with codeine seems particularly bad.

Knit and natter this morning (or stitch and bitch as some call it) and I think today I will take along some teddy pieces to sew, I've already got the arms, one leg and an ear done, and the body is started, so I need to finish the body, do the head and a leg, and one ear. Then assemble him. I would like to have him finished for tomorrow but may not, but if I can get him finished to the assembly stage, and stuff him, I can embroider his nose and sew up the openings at the market.

I got quite a few mozzie bites on Monday night. They always come up in huge lumps on me but don't usually irritate at all, this lot are itchy though, so might have to get something to put on them to stop them itching. Grrrr.

Right, better have breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
Its grey here today but the sun is out.

I have 2 Uncles from mums side and an Aunty on my Dads side. she seems to have gone Missing. Was talking to a cousin from dads side and she hasnt heard from her in years.. Weird really. And theres only 7 of us left plus how ever many babies there are. Dads mum outlived both her sons, my Uncle was only around 37 when he died and dad was 40.

Havent managed to catch up with my Aunty as yet. Messages on facebook so far.

I have to bake this morning.. I am geting some very pretty Blank cards in a barter and the lady must have looked at my profile cos she asked if i would like a couple of balls of wool she had, so will make her a Chocolate cake and something else.

Have to duck up for more eggs first tho.

Did a few squares yesterday.

Right have a fab day everyone. I want to get this baking done before it gets any hotter.

popeye333 - 2017-02-15 09:25:00
11327

Jayemento, have you tried putting pepper on the soil, though the cat will find another spot. Have you an empty area that you could fork over. They do seem to like loose soil.
Kuala, until you get something better, I find Vicks is effective and you may have some in your cupboard. Eucalyptus oil is also good for an itch.
Only a light breeze in Wgtn today so with that and some sun it is probably a good day to be outside.

marywea - 2017-02-15 11:18:00
11328

Kauka, I find Anthisan cream from the Chemist works for me on bites.

carton - 2017-02-15 12:39:00
11329

I've just got home from the supermarket, looked there for something for the bites but no luck. I will try Vicks - I'm sure I have some in the bathroom cupboard. Must be a different breed of mozzie, because usually I end up with huge red lumps that are hot but not itchy. Sandfly bites on the other hand are a different story, they irritate me for up to 3 weeks. If the Vicks doesn't work I will go to the chemist tomorrow when I'm in town and see what I can get.

It is raining quite steadily now, so I won't feel guilty this afternoon sitting with my feet up (my new recliner chair is sooooooo comfortable) and stitching teddy bits. Also had a haircut while I was in town, so now I'm feeling much tidier.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

morning ladies :) I read somewhere if you run a teaspoon under hot water and press it on the bite, it stops itching. Something about the heat breaking down the itchy enzyme.

Our students are awake thanks to the Furry One lol, lots of giggling going on.

We're off to Tauranga today, hopefully the weather will give us a break for a picnic lunch at least. We need the rain so can't complain too loudly.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Grey wet and warm here.. Perfect lol.
I have heard of the warm teaspoon too Kiwimade.. Hope you get some releif Kuaka.
Hopefully you will get a break in the weather Kiwimade.

Shopping this morning, Have a bit to get.. And have to drop a cake off for a swap for some blank cards and wool.. technically not buying, yarn wise , so Ive permitted it lol.

Baked yesterday, just a couple of chocolate cakes and some cheese muffins for lunch. Yummy too.

Hope to get some crochet done later. Its been lacking.

Have a fab day all

11332

Morning
Its drizzly rain here and supposed to be wet for next few days, we so need the rain but it is Art Deco weekend and we don't really want it wet for that as it is such a big weekend and so much is held outside.
Hope you get enough fine weather for the students Kiwimade.
Try not to rub of scratch your bites Kuaka - easier said than done I know - but if you stimulate them it releases more histamine which makes the itching so increases the scratch/ itch cycle, Yes heat can sure help and just putting firm pressure on it sometimes helps, but an antihistamine is best.

Just finished making two large trays of club sandwiches for funeral this pm, it is niece's husbands father and although not really unexpected still quite a shock for the family.

Took Mr6 to train world yesterday for his birthday he is train mad at the moment and so loved it there keeps asking if he can go back, His sisters enjoyed it too but not nearly as excited by it. Had the 2 girls ( 3 & 7 yr olds) here for the afternoon and 3 year old neighbour joined them so happy houseful of little ones.
First time little neighbour has "visited" and he was far from pleased when I had to send him home again. His mother grew up next door and used to spend quite a lot of time over here too when my father lived here.

Had dinner in town last night for the birthday which was nice.
Did manage a few rows of knitting yesterday but doubt much today.

I saw a thing in mitre 10 yesterday in the pet section called cats away or something like that. It an automated spray thing. Don't know how much it cost.

Morning ladies, a much better day at the market yesterday despite the awful weather. One of the stall holders cancelled early yesterday morning so when I arrived I was told I could spread my goodies out over three tables instead of the usual two, and I think that helped because things weren't so crammed up. Unless there is a cancellation I won't be there tomorrow or Sunday.

We have had some decent rain yesterday, and it was really heavy at 5 this morning, it didn't wake me, I had been awake since 2.30 (my own fault, I was tired so went to bed early last night - I should know better). Doubt I will last the day without having a nana nap.

It is still raining steadily so I don't think I will bother going out today - could go to the Friday session of knit and natter, but I was there on Wednesday and don't need to go twice a week. Might just knuckle down and do some dreaded housework this morning.

I will have to get stuck in and do some gardening and lawn mowing once it's all dried out again, but at least I don't feel guilty ignoring it at the moment.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Rather wet here - farmers are smiling all the visitors here for Art Deco not so much.
I fully understand your sleep patterns Kuaka, I did much the same as had a very full on day yesterday, but one advantage of living alone You can do what You want at odd hours of the night and not disturb anyone else. I often make a hot drink then read and knit until sleepy again.

Funeral went well, the family wanted a quiet one so notice not going into paper until later this week but still quite a few people there. I ended up taking miss3 out to a room with toys as she hasn't learnt volume control yet and talks non stop at loud or very loud, even her "library voice" is rather a loud whisper lol. She is a real chatter box with a vivid imagination and wants to discuss everything she sees.

She's coming soon to spend the morning with me so mum can meet up with friends for a coffee and the big kids are with their dad and Grandad. Luckily I don't have sky TV so can dodge having to watch Dora hehe.

Enjoy your day

Morning everyone,

Another warm wet day... Yay.

Oopsy Ive upset MrP, Simply asked him to stir the jelly and cos he was reaching too far instead of getting closer to it he felt all wobbly. Told him to get closer to it, so he snapped instead. So I went for gold and told him to come get his own breakfast, didnt want to do that either, so I plopped it in front of him and asked would he like me to eat it for him too? Told him hes complaining about his legs being weak, suggested he got off his butt and moved some and they would strengthen again...

Not a great start to the day lol... Ive been wanting to say it for a while tho.

I plan to get into the office this morning and tidy my table. But I once again have a mountain of dishes to do. I have no doubt that he wont help. So I might manage to get there.

Im half was on the squares for the second blanket... So will be joining the first one later today.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Well the weather stayed wet but we found things to do anyway. By the time the girls had shopped and we called into the Bernina shop for thread we were late home and so a late lunch. The girls slept for a couple of hours and MrK took them onto the neighbour's farm to watch the cows being milked. Was a early evening milking as they are milking every 16 hours now rather than a regular twice a day.

Today our daughter and family are visiting for the day. I had to laugh at your post jayemtoo, I don't think I will be so lucky with 'Dora'. Thanks a bunch Lightbox lol. We have 'different' episodes of 'Dora' on Lightbox compared to home apparently. BUT my 'revenge' is complete lol.... Maddy fell in love with a book I was reading to her at bedtime and would only have this story.... so I posted it home to her and now our daughter or partner can only read 'THAT' book. Love it!

I haven't had time to craft but am hoping I can get back to it soon. All this rain has the garden and lawns growing and we have more students booked in. And this time we also have a 'teacher's visit' so I want the gardens looking especially nice as they look at all that kind of thing. Must write the Japanese names of my plants down this time as they tell me.

Hope MrP is in a better mood today popeye.

Nice to 'see' you here again mndy1.

Right-o, coffee is finished, better get moving.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, well I didn't get a phone call this morning to say someone had cancelled their spot on the market, so it looks like I will just have to do some gardening and mow the lawns instead of sitting all day knitting at the market. Will try and do the chores this morning and sit and knit this afternoon.

It rained here most of yesterday morning and then cleared up to a very hot and humid afternoon.

I decided it was time to list the boat yesterday and so I have put it on here and yesterday I managed to do it without breaking down into tears, I've already got several watchers (although as it's a classified I don't get to find out who they are even after the classified finishes). Not sure whether they're watching because they like the look of the boat, think it's a bargain or think I'm dreaming with my asking price. Time will tell. I've already had an offer to swap it for a launch - which I might consider in time if I get desperate enough, but it would probably mean I will lose money twice instead of just once although I would use a launch though if it was suitable.

I was really tired yesterday and sat down after lunch with a cup of tea, and next thing it was nearly tea time, I'd been asleep in the chair all afternoon. That will teach me for going to bed early.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone
Ohh Kiwimade Norty Nanny for sending "That" book to Maddy's house lol

When you think about it Kuaka, the boat is kinda Dead money at the mo too, so even if you have something you will use its better. Glad it didnt upset you as much.

MrP picked up yesterday.. I knew our Houselady would perk him up.. And then our Lab lady dropped us off "Bag" of onions... I need to get a couple of Picture flash cards to show her the difference between a Bag and a Sack lol.. Its a huge sack of them lol.. Im going to do pictures later of the before during and after lol. We have been lajughing since she brought them around lol.

So thats our job this morning. I will have to go buy one of those "gallon" ? bottles of Vinegar before we start. Well MrP will start peeling while Im at the shop.

Ive joined Half the blanket now.. and have the squares Half done for the second.. Im a bit over them to be honest. when Ive finished the second one Ill have a break.

Morning
Fully understand Kiwimade with having to read the same story all the time, over the years I've got quite good at being able to skip bits but get caught out at times when the little one has learnt the text off by heart and then you get pulled up very quickly for not saying it all lol.
Didn't quite dodge screen time as we ended up watching Sofia on YouTube and when I took her home she had Dora on within about 5 minutes.

Perhaps you need to start an onion shop Popeye lol.
I've managed to work out a pattern for the 4ply booties, they are very basic and I may need to make slight adjustment yet, it sure tested my math skills or rather the lack of math skills!! I've never enjoyed anything with numbers involved can't really blame genetics as have a nephew and niece both with PhDs in Mathematics.

Still raining here, they had to cancel the fly over by the old planes for Art Deco last night due to the weather so not sure if they will come later today, the display is usually wonderful to watch.
Depending on weather I may go into town this pm and check out the cars and costumes it is always a great atmosphere.

Morning ladies, didn't sleep well last night, it was so hot, so I've been up an hour already. I can't see me lasting all day without a nap today.

Yesterday I was busy. I put new stainless steel eye bolts in the ceiling of the little front deck where I hang my washing and then put up new washing line. Put cleans sheets on the bed and did the washing, did some gardening and lugged several log baskets full of firewood up the garden steps and stacked it alongside the house ready for winter, and then sat and relaxed till it was cool enough to mow the lawn. Pleased I did that as we had a really heavy shower last night.

So, what to do today? Not a clue at this stage, but no doubt I'll find something to fill the time in. And it will no doubt include some knitting.

Going to do my ironing before it gets too hot.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning - my feet have just the hit floor kuaka after another night of broken sleep and I too no doubt will fall asleep in the chair and so the cycle will continue another night - and the day stretches ahead to do what I ask myself - yesterday I took the dog for a walk in the rain - Mr G used to come home and tell me how Ash loved to run through the puddles - what a laugh - might go back to Park Island today - Sophie is on the back burner for a while - a neice is finally pregnant so have dug through my 4ply and found some lovely self striping indie dyed - now to find a pattern that I can do on automatic

morning ladies :) I saw your pics of the pickled onions, popeye, yummm! MrK does our pickled onions too and they are soo much better than the supermarket ones. Firmer and not as sweet. And he uses all types of vinegars.

Sounds like you got heaps done yesterday kuaka. Can't mow lawns here yet as the ground is just sodden. No complaints though as ommg the ground was dry even with regular watering.

We had a fun day with our grandies and daughter yesterday while her partner took their friend to the Auckland airport. Was hot and sticky so Michael spent most of the day in the nick on a towel kicking away. He can almost roll from his back to his tummy and is babbling and squealing away. The Furry One was close by to sniff and give the odd lick (I know lol) and tolerated Michael grabbing his collar and registration tag. When he had had enough he just moved out of reach. And 'Dora' is out (yaayyy lol) but 'go diego go' is 'in'. Don't know which is worse! So more block towers were built and drawing pictures done. Maddy found my stickers I use in the classroom and they are now stuck to a piece of paper on the fridge.

Today I want to try and do more weeding in between showers. The ground will be nice and soft so easy(ish) work. Can't mow the lawn as the lawn is sodden but we do have mushrooms growing on the lawn. Enough for dinner tonight, yummmm!

Will craft if the weather turns on me or later this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
It rained all night but stopped at moment so maybe over for the time being.

Niece's family left this am to drive back to Queenstown at least going back they can take a couple of days to get there.

Went for a lovely long walk yesterday in the rain - got soaked but good and a hot shower once home was the icing on the cake!

Managed some knitting as well although had to unpick a bootie 3 times as couldn't work out if a pattern would work until I actually did it, think it's ok now. Found some speckled grey wool I'd forgotten about as need to knit a couple of boy things for a niece's baby due in March.

Morning everyone.

Sooo Humid... have the fans on all the time now.

Was a good day yesterday doing the onions.. MrP was alot slower than normal but we got 8 jars I think it was. The onions are nice and small so theres alot in each jar. MrP tells me he likes the look of the ones in white vinegar.. I have 5.5 litres of Malt vinegar arghh !!!!.
Hes going to peel more today, plod along as he said. Ill refill our pill trays and crochet inbetween like I did yesterday.

Erin my houselady made us the most yummy apple pie yesterday. We opted to skip the main course for tea and go straight to the pie. The apples are off a 100 year old tree. They dont mush up, you see the layers of apple. and have a tangy end note, and shes put lots of cinnamon and cloves in.. I was tempted to have some with milk for breakfast lol.. So we will be eating that for several days.

Right MrP has asked me to get his gears for him, so I will do that, need to keep him enthused lol

Have a fab day everyone

Well the rain finally came and I was so pleased. Coming from a farming background I know just how much it was needed
Yes it was Art Deco and lots of people here for it. It's not the first time its rained for Art Deco.

I never want a repeat of last week when we had fires out of control out at the beach and waiting for news that our holiday beach house which we join own with family was ok. Spend most of the time since out there washing everything.

I'm so glad had my lower arm out of plaster earlier in the week off. Not sure what my Dr or Physio are going to say when I have my next appointments this week.

Kiwimade, how are the ribs? Everyone told me it take 6 weeks for them to come right after my fall and sorry they where right. So do go easy on yourself.

Showed Mr S your boat .Kuaku you are selling. He said it's worth every cent and someone will pay what you are asking for it.Just takes a little time.Understand you, about going off sleep in your chair Mr S is good at that as well.
\Update on where Mr S is at present, he is driving again with me with him most times. Getting around with a walking stick and told he will be having an op on his lower back to have some drilling on a couple of discs that are the problem. Just a waiting game now.

Coffee time is over and have another load of washing waiting to be hang out.. Time to move.

Enjoy your day everyone! Happy Crafting

Back in to have a cuppa, mrK made me one while I was outside. Sunflowers, my ribs are still tender and they have slowed me down in the garden. Have to stop every so often but I took some pain relief before I went out which seems to help. I picked Maddy up yesterday and shouldn't have, was pretty sore last night. But I will survive, there are people worse off than me and I know I'll come right soon. Our neighbor popped over yesterday to see if she could pick some of our flowers for a birthday party, didn't have much to offer because of the rain but we managed to find enough for a small bunch.

MrK is making pickles and relish with our excess tomatoes and cucumber... bread and butter pickle... yummmm! I haven't had to make pickles for years as he has taken over the kitchen.

Tea break over, back to it!

Soo pleased your holiday home is safe Sunflower. The fires have been horendous.
Glad your cast is coming off and you wil slowly gain the use back.

Isnt it horrible when we temporarily forget our pain and do sometghing natural and oops it wasnt a good idea. I know when i pop my bottom ribs off it takes a few weeks to settle down to sort of comfortable.

Ive done our pill trays, MrP is getting more onions done today. Have done 4 jars, and 3 of those have 24 onions in them.. but I think he can see hes done about half the sack.

Just made him his lunch Chese and ONION sandwiches lol..

Will crochet between the jars this afternoon

Morning ladies, we have light drizzle here, but it doesn't seem too humid so far, so that's good. It was a real scorcher yesterday. I spent some time in the garden in the morning until my clothes were soaked with perspiration so I put the tools away, showered and then spent a couple of hours in the sewing room which was the coolest part of the house. Then I sat out on the deck for a while and did some knitting and when the sun went off the veg garden I dug a patch over and gave it a good dose of blood and bone, general fertiliser and sheep pellets, dug it all over again, watered it well so now it's ready for me to sow more dwarf beans.

Great news that your bach survived the fires Sunflowers. It must have been a very worrying time for you. I feel so sorry for those people in the Port Hills who have lost their homes, and those who aren't allowed back to their homes yet, especially those who left pets behind. What a terrible situation.

I didn't get round to doing the ironing yesterday, I got side-tracked and forgot all about it, but I will do it shortly, as there is some from the op shop. I brought home some mending last week, and some of it also needs ironing (I did the mending yesterday afternoon) so will iron it and take it back this morning when I go in for my shift. Never thought I would be doing mending for free. The things we do. I don't mind really. Usually it's a hem or a seam coming undone, a couple of buttons missing off a top, or a zip which the stitching is coming undone on. I told them I won't replace broken zips, and it will be at my discretion whether I fix or biff the item. They were quite happy with that. I'm not prepared to spend half an hour replacing a zip on something that is going to be sold for $5. It goes in the rag-bag if the fabric is suitable.

Mmmm, pickled onions. I haven't made any for years. Mr K loved them, and I do too, I really should make some. At least they won't explode like the ginger beer, and I won't have trouble with it not setting like the plum jam.

Have a super day everyone.
