I havent tried it as an adult.. but I used to love the bread that it had been on in rolls, when Mum had left overs from catering jobs.

I wont try it basically cos if I liked it too much id end up eating too much and stuffing up my INR lol

Afternoon ladies, just home from a very pleasant lunch at one of the local Thai restaurants then we went back to my friends daughter's place for a coffee.

My Deramore's order arrived today, went to the Po box and there was a card so went in and was half way out the shop when I realised the package had 1/2 written on it (I thought it didn't seem very big) so went back and got the second package. Not sure that I'm all that keen on one lot I've bought, but I guess I can always on-sell it. I might try one ball and see how it knits up and make a decision later.

Feet up and going to do some more of my mile a minute blanket.

Glad you have your order Kuaka.. At least we know its getting to the country.

How many "rows" do you do for your mile a minute blankets? Are you making baby sized?

Thats the good thing, we can onsell if we dont like it lol

11005

Hi popeye, depends on how big I want the blanket obviously, for small ones to just go in a buggy or on a car seat I do 30 rows and probably 10 strips, for bigger ones, I do 45 rows and 12 strips.

I put a safety pin in every 10 rows, so I don't have to keep counting from the beginning as I get near the end. I suppose I could just measure it against one I've already done, but I tend not to do that.

morning ladies :) Just a quick vacuum and wash floors, put the jelly over the sponge for the trifle so it sets for tomorrow, pick son up this morning and I'm 'done' for tomorrow. Am sooo chuffed with the pav, I used Chelsea Winter's recipe and it worked beautifully.

So if I get my a into g I should be able to relax later today.

You are welcome to the asparagus popeye lol, it is one of the few veggies I don't like. Was a damed good buy though for MrP, you could even make asparagus soup in the winter for him.

hahaha kuaka, I use safety pins to count rounds too!

Happy knitting :)

Morning
A cooler night so slept well even with a party next door still going - fortunately on the side furthest from the bedroom and they only have about one party a year so that's ok.

Off to the local Marae soon. The Churches are putting on a Dinner there tomorrow for those who need one so I'm helping with the preparation today.

Gosh auto correct can be a pain at times - need to check just about every word before posting. It insists that Marae is not a word and local became 'library cal' - I've seen some rather interesting 'corrections' on other threads and Fb lately.
Ok that's my 10cents worth for now lol.

Have a good day

Morning everyone,
It was cooler here too last night, although I did put the fan on about 1-30ish am.
Yep I too use safety pins for marking rows, the proper baby ones so theres no chance of falling out..

Busy morning here, Ill be doing the asparagus and throwing a banana cake in the oven at the same time. I always make one for my friend for christmas and her birthday. Shes going to have to ice it tho lol..

I was going to make a pav, but Im not going to bother. I cant seem to handle too much sweet stuff anymore. MrP is eating the coconut Ice, I have to find a cooked recipe... And Ive had maybe 4 pieces of fudge lol

My friend is coming around this afternoon to do our christmas with her.. So Ill make some pikelets and I have a packet of chocolate biscuits that havent made into truffles , reckon I wont end up making them either lol... Will start the trifles at some stage between doing the rest lol.

Jayemtoo when I went to type pikelets on my phone a few mins ago, it wouldnt do it, so I just do the space between the words then use the go back button and it brings it up how I want it spelt.

Right a quick squizz around here then off to the kitchen

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, I'm not going to the shops again till after Christmas, just nipped in to get milk and cream and some fruit, and that's it for me.

Have been invited out for tea tonight at a friends place who lives about half an hours drive from here, said I will let them know today as I'm not sure what time my son is arriving, and was told he and his girlfriend are welcome too. It would mean he would have to try to find the place (in the middle of nowhere) on his way up here, or go past the place to my place and then go back again. So we shall see.

Auto-correct is so frustrating at times. I was trying to send a text one day in torrential rain and said "it is p---ing" down and it kept correcting it to "pudding down". Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Bit annoyed yesterday, I phoned the boatyard owner about hauling the boat out - it was supposed to be done in November - and he basically said he can't do it, says he's too busy in January and has "some issues" with the boatyard, so sounds like he just doesn't want to. Means the boat will be even harder to sell and will have to let her go cheaper, and I could have put her on the market a couple of months ago. Grrrr!

Had a lovely long phone call from the 96 year old lady who lived next to me at Russell. She moved to Australia with her daughter when she was 84. She didn't know Mr K had passed away and was concerned about how I'm coping, but it was lovely to catch up, she says her body is wearing out but there's nothing wrong with her mind.

Cup of tea, then I will do a few chores, then I hope to finish my mile a minute blanket.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Hi everyone, hope you have all got yourselves organized for Christmas. Just wanted to share a youshop experience in case anyone else wants to use it. A few months ago got a huge order from Craftsy in the U.S, $200.00 of wool and $25. postage arrived in a week, this time brought a small kit $30 and thought I would try youshop $6 to send to youshop address, email today to say youshop are ready to send it for $26.so $31 all up just for postage and its been 10 days already so don't know when it will be here. Rant over will stick to wool warehouse or love knitting. Anyway everyone have a good Christmas, I have some time off so may get to finish some of my projects. My new years resolution is to finish this years projects

11011

Ouch raej2 - that's a lot of money for postage!

I've given up on New Years resolutions - they usually fail and then you just feel like a failure yourself so if you don't make any you don't have that dreary feeling of failure. What I do though, is make sure that I have plenty of cash in my purse on 31st, mum always said if you start the year with no money in your purse, you'll be broke all year. I'm not willing to risk it.

Kuaka, I like the idea of money in the purse will try that this year. I don;t usually do the NYR but this year was so busy with work I was too tired to bother or too tired to figure out the pattern, so finished hardly anything

Son isn't here yet, he was still mucking around at home at 8.30 last night, so has decided to come early this morning I guess (I was out. Last night) and as my son really doesn't "do" early, I don't expect him till lunchtime at the earliest.

still waiting for family to arrive. Popeye, our daughter and her family arrive tomorrow as it is her in-law's 'turn' to have them for Christmas. I did have Maddy say 'Merry Chritthhhmath' on the phone, so cute! Son is flaked out sound asleep on the couch - these retail staff have certainly put the hours in haven't they. MrK is organising the meat and beer (got his priorities right lol) and I've made the salads. So, we are chilling out until Dad and the rest of my family arrive. MrK's all come tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

First year for MrP's sister to have without her husband, but shes doing as she always has, has got her huge four generation family with her. And tomorrow would have been her hubbies birthday too..

I was getting bored not know what to crochet so Im doing squares for the next blanket lol.

Just home from a rather busy but so enjoyable time getting the dinner ready, serving, eating and tidying up.
There wasn't as many there as expected but that possibly was because it was left quite late to be organised. Those who came certainly seemed to enjoy it and all went away with plates of food as well. Now we know it works well there hopefully next year they can start to organise it and publicise it earlier.

Now putting my feet up with a well deserved coffee and not even tempted to have anything with it after the delicious dinner we had.

Had a Skype call from Niece in Italy, 4yr old was telling me excitedly that Christmas was tomorrow she was not at all impressed that we had raced them to it and had ours today! Not easy for a little one to comprehend.
At least her Italian Grandmother is giving her a Christmas dress which she assured me it was very "elegant" .

Thank you for your very welcome kind wishes - has been a very bittersweet day today - went to my sons beach house had a lovely day but feel just hollow -his service on Friday was funny and sad - my boys and my grandkids stood up and very proudly told of their love and respect for their dearly beloved Gerry - he was taken far too soon but what a legacy he has left - I am struggling

morning ladies :) Welcome granc! I love the word 'elegant' jayemtoo, your niece sounds very well versed in words! Skype makes such a difference to making calls. I remember the big deal it was for mum and dad to call our grandparents in the south island for Christmas! Anyone would think we were calling from the moon lol. Good things have changed so much.

MrK's family arrive today along with our daughter and her family. Can't wait to see Maddy open her pressies. I suppose this will be her first 'real' Christmas as she has been too small to really understand until now. And she will be spoilt of course. The Furry One will be so excited to see her. And yes popeye, I did manage to sew his Christmas stocking but it's a tad small so will buy some more Christmas fabric in the sales and make him another for next year.

I need more milk so will dash into town for that when the supermarket opens and I need to call my friend in the States and wish him a Merry Christmas. It's freezing there by all accounts, can't imagine shoveling snow at Christmas time.

have a good one!

Morning
Lovely to see another poster on here Granc - it's always 'the more the merrier' I think,,
Memories are so precious aren't they at times like this Gerry64, you can just take little steps day by day. Hugs.
Enjoy your family Christmas Kiwimade no doubt Maddy will really know how to open her presents and possibly 'help' with little brother's as well

I'm off to a slow start today and am not planning to speed up anytime soon. Have done a bit of washing but other than that I'm just going to do what I feel like when I feel like doing it hehe. Brought home quite a bit of left overs yesterday so just need to make a salad later and no cooking even to do today.
Have 2 things on the needles at the moment one needs a bit of concentrating on the pattern and the other is a 'no-think' one and I got a pile of library books last week so think that's my day planned for me.
Recharge the batteries ready for busy few weeks ahead I think.

Welcome Granc, I agree with Jayemtoo, the more the merrier here.

Have fun today Kiwimade, Maddy will be excited all over I reckon lol.

We are both bushed, and we havent even done anything lol.. Had a 2 hour nap yesterday lol. Which is rare.

No plans for today, Ive started doing the squares for the next blanket. I just dont fancy leaning over the bed laying out the other one yet .

Gerry64, its my sister in laws first christmas without her hubby too. And today is /was his birthday. MrP spoke with her yesterday and shes very positive and determined that things were going to be as normal as she could make it. She lives for her grandies, They have four generations, so its always fun.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, well that's Christmas done and dusted for another year, a very ordinary day for me. My son and his girlfriend didn't get away from Auckland till yesterday morning so I expected them up by lunch time, but they stopped a couple of times on the way up and didn't arrive till just on 6. I was a bit annoyed as I could have gone and had drinks and lunch with one of the neighbours had I known how long they were going to be. Never mind.

Think we are going fishing later, but he's waiting for a friend to call in - I don't know but I suspect he hasn't even left Auckland yet, so it could be a late fishing trip.

While I'm waiting I'm turning a blanket into a teddy bear by attaching ears, muzzle and legs - hoping to sell it at the market and have to find something else to make, not sure what to do next.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas break and special hugs to those on their own, especially on their own for the first time.

That sounds like Fun Gerry, hope they turned out great for both of you.

For years I never thought I could crochet around anything like a ring. So I never tried, and got Mum to do it for me.

So I had a go today, and why i never did it I dont know why lol.. so i carried on playing while I was there.. And this is the result. I was going to undo it but decided I liked it too much lol

That's clever Popeye, no doubt you will find many uses for this now.

Well I ended up doing rather a lot yesterday on my 'quiet' day.
Just had leave this and rush and put my recycling out as the truck has already come - it is usually a lot later.

Having visitors for dinner tonight, they were coming tomorrow but they rang last evening and changed it to today which is fine but need to get organised a bit quicker.

Did quite a lot of knitting last evening as watched Call the Midwife and it was a longer one than usual.

Have a great day

Yes Jayemtoo I did the mad dash for the recyc;ing this morning too. Id only just got back in the house and halfway down the hall and the truck came.. Phew.. cos it was full.

Yes I have plans now I can do around rings and things. Im already making plans to make ornaments for the swap next christmas. Ill be very organized next year.
Did a few squares last night, but spent more time winind part balls into a tidy state.

Will pop up the road breifly this morning then a lazy day as Im rather achy this morning... Im thinking I shouldnt be getting up and down off the floor these days lol... Its not beneficial to the joints lol.

Morning ladies, we had quite a busy day yesterday too, son and I moved the big old wall unit out of the way so we could bring the dresser I had bought upstairs, so of course I had to empty the wall unit first, then son started splitting firewood for me while I filled the dresser, just about everything that came out of the wall unit needed washing, so I was backwards and forwards from the kitchen to the lounge all morning. Still have two drawers to empty from the wall unit and still one from the old sideboard.

In the afternoon a friend of my sons called in and between them they carried the old wall unit downstairs and put it in the garden, I've got a notice on fb that it is "free" but it will probably go to the tip. Doubt anyone will want it.

We didn't go fishing but son's girlfriend taught me to make wontons and dumplings. We cooked them all up (boiled the dumplings and deep fried the wontons) and scoffed the lot.

Think we are going fishing this afternoon/evening.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Our family have just left, had lots of baby cuddles and played with Maddy. She sure likes opening presents, even all the Sants stocking ones lol and Mummy's birthday pressie. Now to mow the lawn and work off all the food I've eaten, no nieghbours so I won't be bugging anyone by starting the mower. Bin man has been thank goodness as it was very full, the Furry One did his usual barking at the guy, hey why are you stealing our stuff? lol.

I don't need to make another double blanket as I was given a wollen one so will unpick the crocheted one I had started and reuse the wool for knitting winter jumpers for Maddy and Michael. Will have enough to knit cable jumpers too so will find a nice pattern. Love cables for winter as I always think it gives more warmth with the extra thickness.

Better move or nothing will get done.

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) Lovely pic huntlygirl :)

I'm off to weed dad's garden and tie up his tomatoes this morning. And I need to buy some rose spray and sheep pellets as the Furry One keeps digging up the blood and bone we use.

Family have all left, it's certainly busy when they are here. Our 8 week old grandson slept eight hours during the night, had another quick feed from his mum and slept another four! And we noticed his top front teeth are showing through his gums, teething already! He flips onto his back now too and you can see his little hands trying to pull him forward when he's on his tummy. I would say this kid wants to move!

I stitched a bit more to my hardanger yesterday after I had mowed the lawn, there are a few mistakes but hopefully not too obvious. Am not unpicking, will work around them.

Happy knitting :)

So love it when handcraft is appreciated by the receiver and that photo sure shows it Popeye.
No holding that little one back Kiwimade, what a great little sleeper.

Had a lovely dinner last evening with a friend I have known for over 50 Yeats but they lived down south so have only actually met up a handful of times they recently moved to Napier so can see each other a bit more. Nice dinner and lots af chatter.

Under estimated wool needed for jersey I'm knitting so hope Skeinz is open this week. I've got a pile of wool for other things but would like to be able to finish this one first.

Our neighbours first daughter started getting her teeth really early too Kiwimade.. sorry for the mums tho. Sounds like Micheal is one very content little man.

Jayemtoo I love it when you can see a friend you havent seen for years, and its like you were talking last week.. good you will be able to see each other more often now.

Its wet and humid here. but the wind is coming so that will help.

I spent quite a while rewinding balls of wool yesterday. Im still working on all but two brand new balls for the blanket, not counting the black of course.

Maybe the courier will come today.

I might start taking the ornaments down later...

Have to pop up the road first to send a yarn swap, getting rid of the 3 and 4 ply acrylic I have. Turning it into something I will use.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Popeye, I meant to tell you well done on crocheting in the round. Now nothing will stop you!

We're off today to buy another plum and apple tree. MrK espaliers them along the fenceline so it's easier to pick the fruit and takes less space. I've had some 'big' ideas for along the side of the house where everything gets 'stored'. And MrK even has the timber to build the storage box as well as the old totara posts for the pathway. All I have to buy are the riverstones to finish it all off. So I think we have this summers 'project' sorted. Slowly working our way round the house. It was bought as a do-up though.

More of my hardanger stitched last night, it's a tad bigger than I thought lol and is going to take a while. I set myself little targets and this seems to keep me motivated. It's lots of repetition and I'm finding the quickest way to stitch the patterns as I go.

I want to use my sewing machine more so have little projects lined up for that too.

Happy knitting :)

Cooler day at present so getting going in case it becomes hot again.
Had lovely potter in the garden last evening but still more to be done, why do weeds continue to grow despite the ground being bone dry?

You will be happy when it all arrives Popeye.
I'm enjoying having 2 totally different type things on the go at the same time - a 4ply lacy patterned baby top and a DK straight forward cardy for a bigger child. I swap between them depending on how much I want to concentrate on the knitting.

Morning ladies, busy day yesterday, although I didn't seem to achieve much. Listed an ugly old wall unit for free on Facebook and someone came along and picked it up, drove for 40 minutes to get it. I had to empty the two drawers before he arrived, what a load of junk they contained, I just tipped it all into two cardboard boxes so that will be a challenge to sort through. There's remote controls for long-gone tvs, bits of snooker chalk, darts, broken watches, old photos of people I've never met and don't know who they are.

Took Grace to Kerikeri in the afternoon, only to Bunnings and the supermarket. I want my son to fit security catches on a couple of the windows - $70 something for 4, was $72 or $74 plus the screws, then son rang and said we need a certain size drill bit and he couldn't find one, had to be exact, so back to Bunnings, that was only $3 though. Bit annoyed really as mr ks snooker partner is in the aluminium joinery business and I asked him back in May if he could fit them and he said "no problem". I've asked several times since and always get the same response, but it doesn't happen. Son can do the bathroom and window at the bottom of the stairs and if the other guy ever gets round to doing them, there are other windows I'd like them on, but son can do the ones where they are most needed.

Might take Grace to Opononi, Omapere and Rawene today just for a day out and leave so. To deal with more of the firewood. See what the weather is going to do and how she is feeling.

Cup of tea while I wait for them to get up, and I will do some crochet (I've started another puzzle ball)

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Grey and overcast here. Not hot tho.

Shopping this morning and then if im not too spore I intend to start de-christmasing lol.

Cant wait for the rest of the wool, but how they have got 22 balls in one bag is a mystery..

Like you Kiwimade Im in the mood for sewing, and I need a couple of skirts. But i have to get the Christmas stuff back in the wardrobe first, so i can use my table.

Glad you got rid of the side board Kuaka, its amazing what people will take for free.

Have some ends to sew in one squares, have done 16 on the second blanket.
Some of the yarn from deramores are lovely pinks, mauves and crimsons, I could make some pretty blankets but I need to sell some others first to make room..

Have a fab day all.

morning ladies :) that's great the old wall unit has gone kuaka, I like how you are making your home your own. There are things here I would happily get rid of if MrK didn't like them so much!

Into the garden today as we have a plum tree and other plants to plant. One of my favourite parts of gardening is putting in new plants. We were given a pressie card for Christmas so nice to have something substantial for show for it.

Housework for me too then maybe some more hardanger. I'm about an eighth around the outside border but am getting quicker at stitching. If I can do everything that needs doing today I can have a tutu with my sewing machine tomorrow. I like to have things done before I sit down.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
Im the same Kiwimade, It then feels like a reward in a way to know that youve done what you need to do then have a treat of sitting what you want to do.
Im going to start taking down some christmas stuff today once my meds start working.

We had great news yesterday, we can get some help in the house, YAYAY, which means Ill have less pain and be more able to care for MrP. so I wont be vaccuuming and washing the floors and toilet and bathroom anymore. And hopefully we can have my friends sister in law to do it. Which means we wont have any trust issues etc.

I would be the same re the stuff MrP likes that I dont, if he wasnt around any more.. Alot of stuff .. and not just furniture etc either, the fridge and pantry would be nearly empty lol...

Right the earlier I get started the earlier I can crochet

Have a fab day everyone
