Safe travelling Jayemtoo, I imagine traffic will be worse from now on.

Nothing much beats fresh berries.

Washing and cooking today too Kiwimade. Ill make the coconut ice and some chocolate fudge. And when they are done Ill put a steamed pudding on. which we are eating inplace of fruit cake this year.

I spoke to both my brothers yesterday and between us we can only remember my eldest brother getting into big trouble once.. So the words mum said to me were crap and it settled my mind cos I woke up fine this morning.. So thats a victory for me. Yay.

Increased my insulin on monday and its taking effect now, so im feeling even better..

Kuaka is the Mile a Minute design pattern free anywhere do you know? Its soo pretty. Shazpetal has a picture up, and I think thats a mile a minute one.

Popeye, if you just google "mile a minute crochet" it comes up with lots of images and there's a tutorial on you tube. I know the pattern off by heart now, if you can do a treble (or whatever the Americans call a treble) and a chain, you can do it. Trick is to get the first bit started. When a friend tried she couldn't get the first bit right and ended up going round in circles. You only do two groups of trebles and then turn. My friend ended up with four groups of trebles and wondered why it didn't look right. The pattern works double trebles on the ends but I just do trebles.

If you can't find an actual pattern, I'll type it up for you.

Good Morning Everyone. I am feeling a lot better since my fall. My nose is broken,waiting on an ENT appointment.Starting to feel better and moving more now.

Mr S has an appointment tomorrow afternoon for an MRI. This has been along time coming. They are working 7 days to catch up. Mr S is walking more now than what he has been. Here hoping we get some answers from his MRI
It was Mr S Birthday last Thursday (15th). I hired a wheelchair for a couple of days so he could get into some stores to do some shopping and visit other places.Lifting it in and out was hard for me. Just had to suck it up and smile. A couple of times someone stopped and lifted it in or out for me..

Have been in /out on here and finally read the postings. A lot has happen here and I see you are all getting prepared for Christmas. Our Tree goes up this weekend. We leave it down till after Mr S birthday. Cake is done. Need to do some more baking.A group of us who have no family around here get together and head out to the beach for the day.Been doing it for a few years now.

Off now as I need to catch up on a few jobs around the place inside. Our lawn/ garden worker is coming in next week to get the gardens/ lawns back under control.

morning ladies :) Good to 'see' you again sunflowers, I like the sound of your Christmas Day! Hope you and MrS are feeling better today and less stressed. When I broke my nose (gardening lol) I ended up with two massive black eyes.

Finally get to sew the Furry One's stocking today. MrK has the others all hanging with an extra hook for him. And while the ironing board is out, I will tackle the ironing. Foggy this morning so might do the ironing first while the day is cool.

Morning ladies, I can't believe I've been up since 5.30 and still haven't had breakfast. Just starting to get hungry so will sort that soon.

I have just finished my mile a minute blanket and started another, using "marble" for the centre strips, but I'm finding that it is quite uneven, some colours are obviously thicker than others, the blue part is much thicker than the pink. Not sure whether it will matter or not. Funny thing I have used this yarn before and not noticed any difference when I've knitted it, or maybe it's just this particular ball. See how I go.

Very overcast here and not terribly warm. Guess it will warm up later. Going to do a bit of sewing for a start then I might put the decorations on the tree, which I had intended doing yesterday and the day before. I suppose I should have sprayed the weeds before the wind starts but I didn't feel like it and they will still be there tomorrow.

Morning everyone.
I thought it looked a bit misty down south. Its nice here, temp is just right, no wind but fine.
Today Ill be putting away three loads of washing, all clothes havent done the towels and beds as yet.
Need to wash the fronts of my kitchen cupboards so will do the floor after them too.
Will vacc tomorrow, the landlord is coming in and its my normal day anyway lol
No cooking today I dont think.

I have 23 squares to go... Finally. I cant beleive how long this one has taken me to do. But at least it will be joined before the new year heat.

I want to look at mile a minute blankets, but will add it to the "After the other blankets" are done list lol or I could easily get distracted lol.

Have deiced to have some hot ham, boiled little tatties and some asparagus for MrP for chirstmas dinner. And i will have the ham and tatties, but I have ahnakering to have gravy with it lol... Odd I know.

Then dinner will be the trifle and a smidge of pavalova.

A week to go lol.

I remembered the roses I had drying in the two spare wardrobes and am soooo pleased with my first attempt at drying flowers. They smell divine and so do the wardrobes! The Blackberry Nip buds are just gorgeous. My only complaint is I didn't dry quite enough so will 'top up' my wreath with some fresh roses. I also picked a few lavender flowers, I only have a few as they are new plants this season.

The Christmas wreaths look lovely kiwimade, which reminds me, I must dig out the wreath I knitted yonks ago, it was made with green yarn and then red and white lace (from memory) I finished it a couple of years ago and wanted to hang it on the inside of the front ranch slider, but couldn't figure out how to hang it, gold thread and sellotape didn't work, it kept falling off.

Spent most of the morning sewing, then this afternoon caught up with a friend from the UK who is staying at her daughters place not far away, lovely to see her again, we are planning/plotting to get together again sometime this week to do something, not sure what yet.

Doorbell rang but nobody there - it does that occasionally - almost trod on a half-dead rat in my bare feet as I went down the stairs to see who was there - thanks puss - NOT!

Morning ladies, another early start for me, was up at 5.30 after waking and not able to get back to sleep again.

Yesterday I did three strips on my latest mile a minute blanket and this morning I've already done another strip and the edging around it. Course while I was searching for the yarn to do the edging I discovered my half-done corner to corner blanket which I had forgotten all about, so I will work on that in between doing the mile a minute one. Just looking round at all the yarn I've got, I'm asking myself why on earth did I order more from Deramore's. Never mind. If there is a world-wide wool/yarn shortage, I'll have enough to keep me going for a while.

Won a nice rimu sideboard on here yesterday, going to pick it up tomorrow then have to enlist some heavies to get it up the stairs for me. Looking forward to getting the house the way "I" want it (rather than compromising with someone else).

Didn't hear from my "dinner date" last night. He said he would phone to confirm, so if I don't hear from him this afternoon, looks like it will be Monday evening club for an hour or so as usual then come home to cook my own tea.

Better go, I plan to spray the weeds before the wind gets up.

morning ladies :) looks like we are both out in the garden early kuaka. Will down this coffee, take my antihistamine and get outside to weed. The weather is going to change later this week and I want it done. That damed convolvulus grows so quick, although I sprayed the worst of it the other day.

I am going to Tauranga this week and plan to shop at their Spotlight for a change. Every time we are in Tauranga lately it has been with students and we couldn't stop. Also need to visit the Bernina shop there and might as well do the Pak n Save shop at the same time.

Love the rose wreath Kiwimade.

Had a lovely time in Wellington. We had a great dinner - roast lamb and chicken with all the trimmings and of course desert. Ate far too much but it is Christmas! Then a 'secret santa' gift giving. Then yesterday am we all went out to a cafe in Seatoun for brunch and a quieter catch up time together.

Now been making a list of things needing doing this week and it seems to be getting longer and longer! No time to get bored I think mind you quite a few things on it aren't essential to be done in a hurry. Will ensure there is time for crafts as well.

Morning everyone.

Look at all the early birds lol. I got up to do the rubbish. I wouldnt have normally put it out, cos a bag does us a fortnight. but being that the next two weeks are going to be mucked up I thought Ill get rid of it today.
Then I vacuumed too while it was a little cooler.

Its grey here with the odd little spitty rain showers.

Quiet here too, Poor Missy loves to sit in the window watching the kids go to school. it will take her a few days to realise they just aint coming lol.

Got all the washing put away yesterday, washed the cupboard fronts and then the kitchen floor, so its all nice and tidy now.

And did 4 squares.. so 19 to go.

Thanks Sunflower for the link. Ive saved it but wont look at it for now. Will be too tempting.
And part of my christmas present frm Whiskey13. Jocelyn from TM and FB is a lovely crochet christmas pattern book. Ive had a look through but have put it under the tree so Im not tempted lol.

Hopefully my wool might turn up today? well this week anyway. Gonna be fun finding a place to put it.. Kuaka if theres ever a world shortage, Im not taking the blame lol

Maybe your doorbell was simply MrK letting you know he's still watching over you. Sometimes they do different things to let you know they are there.

I can have a lazy day now. The Landlord will be in this morning, shes doing an inspection nextdoor and coming here to drop off and pick up a christmas present.

Ill sort some more colours for the blanket and then relax and crochet.

Well I may have been a bit premature in thinking that my "dinner date" was off because he phoned this morning and is picking me up between 5.30 and 6, so it should be an interesting evening. Apparently there will be 5 or 6 of us in total - might make a new friend or two.

Doorbell went again this morning and again there's nobody there, think it's a sign the battery is going flat. It has happened before and it's a pain in the backside, but I can't remember what caused it. Oh for a decent doorbell - I'm fed up with the ones they advertise as "waterproof" and when you go to install it the instructions say "do not expose to rain or water". Made in China of course - go figure.

Good Morning Ladies,overcast day here at present. Just want the rain to hold off till late evening. Have an outdoor Christmas Dinner for 120-.150 people tonight. Have 2 large cabbages to make into cold slaw. Dinner is for the homeless as well as people who just need that extra meal. Been helping a friend for the last couple of years. During the year we do a weekly meal on a Monday night.Rain,Hail or Shine have around 80 to 100 plus. turn up.

Mr S had his first MIR yesterday, now the waiting for the report. His Doctor will have the report at the sometime as his Orthopedic Surgeon as both at the same rooms.His Surgeon is doing his papers to become a GP.

Glad you understood the message Popeye about the patterns.

It's overcast at present I better move and get some more gardening done as weather going to turn to rain later in the week.

I usually go to Karori in Wellington and that's 4 ½ hours from here. I tend to find going through the Wairarapa and over the Rimutakas quicker than through the Manawatu Gorge and down the other side as less traffic on the whole.
I have done it so often now that it doesn't seem to long I always think that going to Hamilton is a lot further when in fact it is about ½ hour quicker!

Morning ladies, another early start today, woke really early and couldn't get back to sleep so was up just after 5 - I know I will be knackered by tea time.

Heading north today to pick up my sideboard which I bought on here on Sunday, then have to enlist some help to get it out of the old Safari and into the house and up the stairs. Basically have three options there, so hope one of the options can help. See how heavy it is then I can decide how many men it will take to do the job.

Going to call in at the Warehouse on the way for a few bits so I hope it's not jam-packed.

Had a phone call yesterday afternoon from the chap who runs the market to say he'd had a cancellation and there was a spot for me today, but I said I was sorry I couldn't do it today, but confirmed my spot for Thursday. He said he would go to the next person on the waiting list - hope that doesn't mean I drop to the bottom next time there's a cancellation. Oh well, can't worry about it.

Dinner was lovely last night, and I actually knew one of the ladies there, I did some sewing for her ages ago. I was picked up and the food was lovely, my friend brought along oysters (which I don't like), smoked fish, salad, baby potatoes, chocolate eclairs, and a gift for each of us, all beautifully wrapped, and the host had a roast chicken, sweet corn, asparagus, a beautiful strawberry flan smothered in cream and someone had brought ice cream. And then I was dropped off at home before 9.

Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day.

Lawn to mow today, I wish I could mow it closer to Christmas but the weather isn't meant to be too good so will get it done today. MrK said he will do the edges so one less thing for me to do. Wonder how many people will stop and ask me where Hobbiton is today lol. If I had a $1 for everytime a tourist asks for directions I would be rich.

Will go to Tauranga later today or tomorrow all going to plan.

Perhaps put a sign with an arrow on it Kiwimade "Hobbiton this way" you could decide which way to point it depending on your mood - it would move the tourists away from your place and give them a mystery trip lol.

Crossed a couple of things off my list yesterday, need to do a bit of baking today and try not to get side tracked onto the computer or knitting too often. Need to make some more chocolates too I think, they were quite popular at the weekend. They were my trial ones so I was pleased that they turned out as well as they did.

lmao jayemtoo, I love your idea, apparently SATNAV has Hobbiton in a different place which is why we get the tourists asking. Doesn't bother us, we get to meet all sorts of people. Along with all the breakdowns on our part of the road.

Lawns are mowed and edges done (thanks MrK!) MrK is deheading the roses for me, something he can easily do that won't bother his back after doing the weedwacking. Time for a cuppa me thinks.

Just had a thought, there could be delays in packages if the packages have to come through Wellington thanks to the earthquakes. Briscoes had a note on their website when I ordered our daughter's pressie.

Took MrP to the shop that has heaps of christmas Ornaments.. Came home with a street lamp that lights up, that I love. A santa on a motorbike with a side car with a boy and dog in, which has lights on the bike and a light up Star on the top of the tree.

Went to supermarket to get a couple of things.

Then once Home MrP decided he wanted a glitter / snow globe with penguins in it, but it keeps the snow / glitter moving and changes colour.. So I had to go back and get that lol..

Pretty hectic day - went to the Warehouse and then on to pick up my sideboard,then stopped for a pie for lunch on the way home as I was starving and then made a couple of phone calls to rally enough muscle to get the sideboard upstairs. It is now in place, polished but as yet empty. I have to unload everything out of the old one and then shift the old one into the other room, at the moment it is smack bang in the middle of the family room, which isn't where I want it.

I am absolutely thrilled to bits with it, it's just perfect. Photo to follow.

Just having a bit of a breather and a glass of cider. Don't think I will do much more for a while, I will have to get the old sideboard shifted today though, but it needs to be empty first.

Ooooh that's lovely Kuaka. I really like rimu.
After doing a bit of time out at the factory, I decided a walk to Skeinz would be a good idea as wanted about 6 balls of 4ply to knit a couple of baby Cardies for nieces baby. Well that was the plan but they had some lovely wool on special $2.75 for Merino/alpaca mix and a machine washable pure wool, so ended up with rather more than I went for - as much as I could squash into my backpack and carry home.

yes popeye, I'm really pleased with it - have my eye on a dresser for the lounge to replace the hideous wall unit that Mr K cherished. Auction closes tomorrow so mustn't forget to bid - might put in an auto-bid. There is a buy now but it's a bit more than I really want to pay. I would have paid $200 more on today's sideboard than I actually paid and still been happy with it.

Laughing at the wool jayemtoo - wool has a habit of multiplying in the shop I reckon - you go for six balls and by the time you've got it home, you've got 10 or 12. It doesn't seem to happen with bacon or money, only wool. Weird. haha

That was certainly good timing jayemtoo for the wool. A really good buy and you would have been silly to leave it there.

Haircut for me today and then off to Tauranga (finally!) to shop. I need to visit the Bernina shop so might as well go to Pak n Save. There is a brand new Pak n Save at Tauriko (pass through on the way) so could even go there.

Yesterday I mowed the whole length of our small road as the neighbours are away so mowed their frontage too. The lawns across the road were also mowed so our small road looks pretty good! I also managed to rescue a rose bush that was going to be bulldozed along with the 'garden' it was in. Now I have to find a spot to put it in lol. Never mind, a nice problem to have.

Morning ladies, yes, I'm thrilled to bits with my new sideboard, just have two drawers out of the old one to empty and then I can clean it and try to sell it. I will try on facebook on the local noticeboard first I think, because it will be pick up only, see how I go. I have put an autobid on the dresser, I've measured it, the measurements are almost identical to the old junky thing that Mr K loved so much, I doubt I'll be able to sell it - might try to get $50 for it, but I daresay it will have to be free to a good home or it will go to the tip. As long as it goes, I really don't care how it goes!

As my friend said recently "it's time to make it 'my' home now", and I am enjoying doing it. You'd be amazed at some of the junk Mr K had stashed in the sideboard, a broken clock amongst other things and a fishing reel. When I say broken clock, the glass was missing and the casing cracked in two. Fixing it wasn't really an option, so it's in the rubbish. I'm being quite ruthless. Not sure why there was a lace petticoat in one of the drawers either!!! It belonged to his mother and she died back in about 1996.

I have the neighbours coming for drinks this evening, so I need to vacuum, tidy, polish the coffee table etc, and wash the floors. Oh well, I suppose the housework does need doing once or twice a year! Looks like today is one of those days.

Happy shopping Kiwimade, I will be doing a larger than normal tomorrow. I have $85 club card dollars at New world as well as a gift card I already had and our Landlords gave us a $100 one. So we will have a little stock up, and we will get some more gurnard, it was lovely last night.he

I have 4 sqjuares to do, then Ill sew the last of the ends. If I get them done today thats 50 days.. So not as long as I thought it took.

Lol Kuaka at the housework.. Sadly sometimes we just have to do it eh.. I have some cobwebs to get, but I think ill let the spiders have their christmas first.. Theyre not out here, but down the hall where no one but us ever goes lol..

Agree Kuaka about wool multiplying - my 6 balls actually multiplied to 28! didn't count them until I got home lol. Wool never goes to waste and have started some of it already, knitting a matinee jacket in a 'feather and fan' stitch which takes a bit of concentration so have a straight forward cardy on the go as well.
That's good going on the squares Popeye.
Safe travel Kiwimade and enjoy the shopping just hope the shops aren't too hectic for you.

It is such a lovely day here - big wash on line, been out to take something to friends - walked so that is done before it gets too hot.
Hope to get to Mitre 10 today as got a list of things from there - always need to ensure I have a bit of time as so like looking around hardware shops even if not need anything.

morning ladies :) Buggar about your orders, fingers crossed for today.

I must admit I really liked Spotlight in Tauranga. The ladies behind the counter were so cheerful and helpful and even gave advise about sewing some fabric.

The roads were super busy, especially going over the Kaimai Ranges with all the trucks heading to and from the port.

I have my thread again for the hardanger I started late last year and my plan is to pick away at it and get it finished. It's going to take a while as I'm working from a very old photo. Luckily there are a few closeups so I can see the stitches used. As the days get warmer, knitting takes a bit of a backseat and I move into sewing and embroidery.

Morning everyone

And what a warm night we had..

Soo pleased Ive finished the squares for the blanket... Will join up next year..

Im going to look at mile a minute blankets later... I have some red and green sparkly yarns which might look nice with white, for a christmas themed blanket.

Shopping this morning and that will be it for us.. Hope not to have to go out until after boxing day at least.

Have to say the staff at Manukau's spotlight arent quite as helpful or polite, sadly..

Hopefully our yarns will arrive today Kuaka..

Morning
Going to be hot today - prediction is 31oC. It was 19 at 2am which is quite a bit warmer than usual.
Have cleaned outsides of all the windows and sprayed the citrus trees for aphids and cleaned the kitchen already so feeling very self righteous lol.

Have an appointment late am so will pop into town at the same time then can blob out with a bit of knitting and a book this pm if too hot for anything else.

Hope your orders come soon.

Afternoon ladies, I'm just home from the market, managed to sell a few things, but I'm pleased it's not my only income or I'd be very thin.

No order today, but yesterday I received a Christmas card, clearly addressed Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand and someone had written on the back that it had been delivered in somewhere in Cornwall, England!

Did quite lot of crochet today at the market, my second mile a minute blanket is half done. Very hot and humid today, and I've been awake since 4am so I don't like my chances of doing much tonight apart from dozing off in the chair.

Time to put my feet up for half an hour before I think about what to have for tea.

Today I had a tu-tu with the mile a minute.. Cant beleive how easy it is..And I can see why they gave it that name.. how many "rows" do you do Kuaka?
I have some red and green sparkly Ill make into a blanket I think... But then one in baby colours might sell faster.

Hot here too, has been all day.. And since we had a long monring out, I decided I wasnt cooking tea so went and got some take aways. Mussels and chips for MrP and chicken for me.

Feet up, Fan on.. and thats my night lol

morning ladies :) Finally it's raining although MrK isn't happy as he meant to be playing a round of golf with his mates today (the one and only round of golf he plays all year lol). It's very casual and involves lots of beer and me as the sober driver.

I saw a car reversing on the roundabout yesterday, couldn't quite believe what I was seeing lol. Idiot!

The Furry One has earned his keep again by catching a killing a rat last night... clever boy!

I made a sewing pattern last night for a knitting/sewing bag and will have a bit of a tutu sometime with scrappy fabric to see if my idea works.

My hardanger is working up steadily, am a bit out of practice and after such a long break from the pattern I've had to find my way again. It's definitely going to take some time but that's OK, will be worth the effort and time.

When MrK has finished cooking his breakkie I'll make the pav and the custard for the trifle. Then housework, then I'll be mostly organised for Christmas and can sew.

Morning everyone
A very hot night, with the rain that has travelled to Kiwimades place.

Well done Furry one on catching the rat.. !!

We are going to nip over to Pukekohe and get some pork from the Mad butcher.. Meat man said we cant get an extra half, so we will get some pork to make a change anyway..

I can see me fishing out some yarn for a mile a minute,, I really enjoyed having a tu-tu.. The lady who ordered the blankets doesnt mind how long they take... So ill have a wee break .

Cant believe we are only two days out from christmas. Ill be doing our trifles tomorrow.. Heck I want to make my friend a banana cake too, will do that later.. So Perhaps I should be throwing a pav in then too.

Right the faster I get done here the faster we will be home out of the heat.

So sorry to hear of your loss Gerry64, condolences to you and your family. It is nice that you have been able to pop in here at times during this tough time.

So nice it is a bit cooler today although plans to potter in the garden may need to be put on hold at the moment - that's not a complaint lol.

Morning ladies, sending you cyber-hugs Gerry64, I know exactly how you are feeling and no matter how much you have been expecting it or how much that person you loved was suffering you still don't want to let them go, and it hurts, and it will hurt for a long time, but you do get to a point where you eventually start to enjoy life again even though you still miss them. I have struggled through my birthday without Mr K, then our wedding anniversary and last week, his birthday, now I have Christmas without him and then next thing you know, it will be a year since he left. But, I have been making changes around the house, getting rid of stuff I don't want and buying stuff that I do want, and making it "mine" instead of "ours" and I am enjoying it. I've ignored all the advice to sell up and buy somewhere smaller, I like it here, yes it's too big for one person, but it's private and I love my view. I am happy to stay here and in any case couldn't stand the stress of trying to sell and move. Don't do anything until you are ready, you will know when the time is right for you.

I came home a bit puzzled from the market yesterday. I was really tired, I had four mornings in a row where I woke at 4am and when I checked my "takings" yesterday afternoon I had a $5 aussie note, and I don't remember anyone giving it to me. I'm thinking if I was stupid enough to accept it thinking it was a $50 NZ and I gave change for it, then I deserve to lose money. I don't think I did though, I suspect it was in my float to start with and I just didn't notice. Anyway no more markets booked but the chap who runs it said he will phone everyone in the new year to confirm what dates they are booked for and will hopefully phone me - although I'm hoping that I will be working on the boat soon. Need to get it on the market.

Going out to lunch with a friend who is visiting from the UK and staying with her daughter nearby. She is only here till the 29th Dec then off to Wellington, and time goes so quickly these days, can't believe it's almost time for her to go and we've only spent a couple of hours together so far.

Right, I still have one drawer out of the old sideboard to empty, then I can polish the sideboard and table and chairs and try to sell them. I have a hutch dresser being delivered this evening, then I can empty the revolting old wall unit that Mr K so loved and get rid of that - doubt anyone will want to buy it, might have to donate it to charity or take it to the tip. Whatever - it's going.

So sorry for your loss Gerry.. and so close to christmas too.. I hope you have lots of family who will tender loving care of you at this time.

I lost my stepfather just shy of christmas so I know how hard it makes it.

We are always here and happy to hear your snippets, good or bad.

No wool again today, but theres still two couriers to go through.. Wish I could remember which one brings it.

Went and spent $96 on pork, polonies, chicken and more trotters for MrP. he loves them. got 3 meals for $5 so Im not complaining.

Also got fruit and veges. And the best buy was 2 boxes of asparagus.. Photo to follow.. $1-99 a box.. So guess who will be blanching them tomorrow lol..
