Who's tried their new Lighthouse glow-in-the-dark stamps in the dark yet?

Ok... Can someone please tell me the going rate approx for 100g of off paper NZ general decimal stamps? And the same for world mix? Only looking for approx. TIA.

1052 stak I used the glow in the dark lighthouse stamps. I found I had to make sure the gum was wet properly
where the beam ends or it would lift
off the envelope. When held in a dark room, the beam coming from the lighthouse glows.A great item to get children involved in stamp collecting I thought.

1054 Yes I thought the stamps were a bit of a gimmick but my two children huddled under the bed to see them glow and thought that they were 'cool'. So lets hope they do encourage more kids to collect.

Is this a record TM 197232158
Is this a record. Perhaps it is the very rare one with the inverted sufacing on the back.
Don Have you ever had the honor of selling this rare variety in one of your auctions. Tony

Parting with a collection of stamps What would be the best way to auction a collection of stamps. There are several albums of foreign, including Commonwealth stamps, several NZ only albums, plus boxes of loose stamps, FDC's, miniature sheets & presentation packs etc. Is it better to put up auctions by country or by type - eg NZ Health, Christmas, pictorials etc? Any advice welcome.

Qick re-listng Quick re-listing can only be done for 7 days.
What about an option of 4 day period of re-listing ?

Some lots can then be maneuvered to end on a more precise day to finish with others.

What do others say ?

1935 official pictorials, mint hi just wondering if anyone could tel me roughly what they think these would be worth, lol I know nothing about stamps at all!! They were left to me. In excellent conditon, hinged.

1077 re collection Buy a catalog or go to a library and do some research the more time you put into it the more you will get out of them.Put the more valuable ones(singles ,sets etc) up for auction and once picked through then put up the rest up for auction.Quick fix sell whole album but with plenty of photo's or take them to a dealer.
Regards Paul.

1079 re pictorials 1935 1935 Pictorials can be a very collectible subject due to the vast number of printings and can be very confusing to the novice so it would be best to take the collection to a dealer or a stamp club to get advice as you may have some valuable stamps amongst them.Basic cat price for a hm set $500.00 to $1000.00.On Trademe anywhere up to $500.00.Listed as separate stamps more.(I stand to be corrected).
Regards Paul.

rebel58 wow, thanks for that!! Will look into it! As i dont know anything about stamps Id rather sell them to someone who is keen and knows how to look after them properly etc.cheers

1080 Thanks Paul I have had a quick look through the Len Jury online catalogue and am amazed at some of the prices that are listed. What percentage of catalogue value would be a good sale price?

Trade NZ for German stamps? I have a friend in Germany who, along with his kids, is a keen stamp collector. He asked me to try to connect him with someone in NZ who wants to trade NZ stamps for German... Any takers?

1083 You might want to look at ACS online catalog as well -- at nzstamps.com .. As for realisation on here, depending who is onsite bidding anywhere from 15 or 20% up to 40% of dealer pricing might be reasonable. For more scarce or sought after items higher

Hand Canceling Does anyone know where I can get some covers hand cancelled in Auckland. I am sending some nice stamps on cover to a collecting buddy in Australia but I don't want the stamps obliterated with the damn awful spray cancels that are used.
I think there is an agent somewhere in Auckland CBD that are permitted to hand cancel for collectors.
Cheers

Hand Cancels Real Aotearoa stamp center in Lower Queen street ( next door to Louis Vuitton)will do a hand cancel of Auckland or Auckland City of sails.
They will process it so it does not go near the roller machines, it reaches it's destination quickly and with lovely circular date cancels.

Re1092 Why do you bother with stamps when you are so negative about any NZ Post issues. I always tell my customers if they aren't happy with what is available etc it is time to move onto something else.

Re 1095 You make a good point.Every ones Stamp collecting tastes/themes are different and perhaps we shouldn't go bagging other peoples collecting fields. After all NZ Post is and has been Stamp dealers bread and butter for quite some time.

Re1096 Hello Don I will stick with my belief that it is every collectors right to collect what they want, not what you or I or any other dealer say they have to collect. Nothing wrong with offering balanced advice. The end of it all it is the collector who decides to spend or not. Lastly the tooth fairy played a large part of my childrens growing up. Regards Gary.

Well done NZ Post Just to say something positive about NZ Post for a change, my 8 year old daugther just joined their Stamp Hunter's Club. What she got for $5 was amazing, 50 space stamps, a CTO Sayings M/S, more good NZ CTO stamps, mini magnifine glass, tweezers, hinges, stamp catalogue and more. She is a very happy and enthusiastic wee girl. Well done NZ Post!
