| Popped over to browse some threads Oh my o my some people are so naughty and nasty. They complain about everyone and everything. Yet others like us (of course) are so nice. LOL. I read and laugh at some of the postings and shake my head in dispair at the others. They seriously need to get a life. makerealbany - 2008-06-16 23:59:00 |
| I agree about the other threads! Which is why I stick with ours pretty much. Baby was 7lb 7ozs in the end. S's diabetes has gone and wee B does not have hydrocephalus as mentioned a few weeks ago. So all is great with the world. grizzly4 - 2008-06-17 09:44:00 |
| Grizzly that is wonderful news I suppose a terrible last few weeks of worrying, only to have a beautiful healthy baby makes it all worth while. Better that way than the other. We have had major scares with 2 out of 6 babies and they turned out fine. You all can now really enjoy him to the fullest. smartgirl - 2008-06-17 10:17:00 |
| That is Fab news grizzly I am so happy for you all and I bet your daughter and her hubby are over the moon with their little fat gem. It is so nice to hear good things are happening for you after all the stressful last weeks you have had. My daughter just rang and they are about an hour and a half away from home so I am running around so I can just play with M R when she gets home. HA HA. makerealbany - 2008-06-17 12:35:00 |
| Hey smartgirl Is it raining there? It is pouring here. Water tanks are filling nicely. Bugs me I cannot access email. Never mind when kids come home they can fix it. I hope!!!! makerealbany - 2008-06-17 12:38:00 |
| Everyone must be busy Just maxing out today with baby. She has grown so much and is such a sociable little girl. Does love to pinch though. She just grabs where ever she can. Usually the parts with extra fat. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-06-18 17:25:00 |
| Will this week never end? Roll on the weekend, please! S & baby going home today even though her milk hasn't come in and B not latching properly. It sounds like you are enjoying your family being home, makerealbany. Pinching is nasty but the the squealing phase is just as bad, I reckon. My two were never squealers, thank goodness and 1 yr old L only went through a short phase. You hear some kids and I don't know how their mums cope, really I don't! grizzly4 - 2008-06-19 08:19:00 |
| My job is changing! Only one more month in family support role then into full time admin. I am having to tell my clients that it won't be me anymore doing home visits. Boy it's hard. I have no idea what to say to some of them, they see it as complete betrayal even though we head-hunted to get an excellent person to take over. grizzly4 - 2008-06-19 08:22:00 |
| Yes it is hard grizzly I have had to do exactly the same thing and know what you mean. However my one consolation was that unless someone skilled sorted out the finances, outstanding funding probelms and prepared the validity audit we would have, had bigger probelms and then we could not have helped anyone. I found the break as a Financial Administrator was really good for me as I only had to deal with staff. Ha ha. I was a cat amongst the pigeons. Another great learning curve. Had to learn how to use Cashmanager which was enlightening after initial headaches. makerealbany - 2008-06-19 13:04:00 |
| Clients are easier than staff, I reckon! I leave them to the Manager thank goodness. It'll be just me and my books and some parent contact for kids attending our programmes. I'm a little frustrated by some people's lack of work ethic at times and our Manager is much more diplomatic than I would be, I have to say, hehe!! grizzly4 - 2008-06-20 08:14:00 |
| Wow I havnt read through the posts. But OMG this has been going for lmost a year. How is Zoe?? stacerbrown - 2008-06-20 08:22:00 |
| Hi stacerbrown, we havent heard from Zoe for a while now. She and her sister come on from time to time. I hope she is ok. She had a very positive attitude. It is a great thread she has started. smartgirl - 2008-06-20 09:23:00 |
| makereal and grizzly you must be busy I miss you. I am having miss 2 today and caatching up with miss nearly one later today. They are such joys especially when I am living with mr 16. Really he is not too bad lately and he is trying but there is nothing like a little one to warm your heart. smartgirl - 2008-06-21 09:36:00 |
| Had fish 'n' chips at daughters last night. Lovely cosy evening with that new wee family. Her milk has come in and she doesn't know where to put herself. B still not latching but b----- midwife said see you next week. This is the one that wasn't available for the delivery in the end, thank goodness. They are coming for a visit this afternoon and we will take them to great nana to show them off. Having 1 yr old overnight. Great weekend with grandsons ahead! grizzly4 - 2008-06-21 10:38:00 |
| Grizzly, it such a great feeling when it all goes well in the end. He will soon find how to latch on when he gets really hungry but in the mean time I feel for her nipples. They should not send a mum home till baby is feeding esp when it is close to a weekend. They have a responsibility to that baby. This is where it all starts to go wrong for some families. Not yours because they have support but you can imagine what I am saying. I feel sorry for the pressures that it must add. smartgirl - 2008-06-21 11:25:00 |
| Hi grizzly Do they have a Plunket centre there. Mum can take baby and they help to get baby to feed. Also Mums can get other help as well. When our baby had all her probelms Plunket were great unlike her Midwife !!!! makerealbany - 2008-06-21 19:31:00 |
| Hi there smartgirl Was a bit busy today went to soccer and got cold and wet even with my raincoat on. People stare when I wear my wellies to Sports but my feet were dry. Ha ha.Raced over to no3 son's to see master 4 and play with him. After that went grocery shopping for my no 1 son, cooked their tea, threw a caserole in the fridge for them to cook tomorrow and arrived home at 7. Just finished tea and grand daughter is awake. She had 3 vaccinations yesterday and has been upset today. Fancy three ruddy needles. Hope you have fun with your grandchildren. They are less stressful when they are little. Lol. Want to finish the little pink jersey for M R tonight. I am knitting the wool double and have to pay attention because I miss a strand now and then Duh. makerealbany - 2008-06-21 19:41:00 |
| Well Mr 1 has had his wheetbix and apples and is now free from his highchair to cause the next piece of havoc. Not very nice day here today, especially after yesterdays sunshine. Caught up on lots of laundry which I find very therapeutic. Never quite got to see great-nana yesterday. Daughter's first lesson on spending the day out: everything you need to do takes twice as long. A bit of a giggle really, she even fell asleep in the car when we took her home. grizzly4 - 2008-06-22 09:42:00 |
| I love that post grizzly When my daughter and her partner took bubs to Wellington the back of the 4 wheel drive was packed to the hilt. Yes they need so much stuff. Just going down the road for a visit to her brothers she has to check her mental list of things for MR. I had a good clean out today in the cottage. They have gibbed the ceiling in the lounge so just need that to be plastered next. We are getting there at last. Looks bigger than I thought in there so that is a bonus. S has been working his butt off and is overseas again tomorrow. That month went really quick. makerealbany - 2008-06-22 19:50:00 |
| So does your Lounge have to be put on hold until he gets back? How frustrating for you. Gosh you won't know yourself once you move in for good, will you? grizzly4 - 2008-06-23 08:18:00 |
| Yes it does I stay there anyway. I have my huge bedroom and bathroom completely finished. I have a fridge in the Lounge part and a TV on my desk in the bedroom. I have room for a big cosy chair in the bedroom as well) to sit and knit in) so it is really only my evening meal I have in the main house. I still have to do my washing in the house but my tub is set up in the laundry so we are getting there. Baby is missing her Dad already and he is missing her. She has been looking around all day. It is such a hard way to live as a family makerealbany - 2008-06-23 18:41:00 |
| It sure is makereal my eldest daughters husband was a rep for years and when he was away his daughter and son missed him so much. Both of them as babies had very bad reflux and they were the only one who could get a bottle into them. It was very hard on my daughter. smartgirl - 2008-06-23 18:58:00 |
| I bet both your daughters are wonderfully independent women because of their partners being away! When hubby was in the Air Force he had quite a bit of time away and I always remember having a bit of a meltdown before he went wondering how I was going to go with 2 little ones. I could never get used to it and I'm very envious of women who are able to carry on regardless. grizzly4 - 2008-06-24 11:06:00 |
| Yes the girls are very independant But then I am always around somewhere. ha ha. My No 2 son is a Wing Commander in the Airforce and it has been hard on my Daughter in Law and my two grandchildren but now they are older they all go to different postings, except for places like Timor, etc. Well the ceiling and walls are being plastered with their first coat in the lounge today. C ( my ex Son in Law) is doing it for us as he got rained off work. 9 makerealbany - 2008-06-24 13:00:00 |
| Finished baby's jersey and she will need to grow it. Lol. Was not taking any chances on it not fitting. Now I have to get stuck in and finish the stuff for the Soccer fundraising. Good day to do it as it is pouring again here. makerealbany - 2008-06-24 13:02:00 |
| I finished a wee fairisle cardy for latest grandson this week, too. His Mum loves it and I love seeing him things I have made myself. Very worthwhile. I haven't seen the other two in the vests I made them which is a bit disappointing. Had a couple of days off with a bug which wasn't pleasant. But when the weather turned nasty it was great being inside toasty warm. But back to work today. Two home vists and a foodbank run to do for a new family. grizzly4 - 2008-06-25 08:29:00 |
| That is disappointing grizzly It is really nice to see our grand children in things we have made for them. Years ago I had this labels which said Made by Grandma with love. They were really cute and I used to stitch them inside the garment. Nostalgia is a fine thing. Ha ha. I make so many things now it would cost a fortune for the labels. Lol. We had a power cut last night but we had one during the day so I was prepared. Had pots of water on the fire, had boiled water for babies bottles and filled the flasks, got the candles and torches out and tea cooked. A had bathed bubs, fed her and she was fast asleep when the power went off. So we were fine. makerealbany - 2008-06-25 17:53:00 |
| Oops spelling error these not this sigh. Actually got into the garden today for a couple of hours. What a mess. Had a great time cutting back things so that the bulbs that are popping through the soil have room. Leaves everywhere from all the strong winds but ground very wet. Decided not to buy any more bulbs from the Warehouse. Not very good. Daffodils okay, tulips not bad but any other bulbs have a lousy sucess rate. makerealbany - 2008-06-25 17:58:00 |
| grizzly Is baby feeding okay now? makerealbany - 2008-06-25 17:59:00 |
| makereal I meant to ask grizzly that as well. My wee girls came today. They are so cute but they dont stay little for long enough. You have to savour every moment. We have a rain, thunder and lightening storm going on at the moment so I guess I wont be going to bed till it stops. I hate it. smartgirl - 2008-06-25 22:58:00 |
| We were very lucky our storm only lasted a short time on Tuesday and it's been fine since. Very cold though. No B isn't latching at all. S is expressing as she has a great supply but it's hard work even with a $300 breast pump!! grizzly4 - 2008-06-26 08:31:00 |
| Oh grizzly, one of my girls had two babies that would not breast feed so she used to express. It is like having to feed twins. He second one was very little and used to sleep all the time so I used to get him up as start waking him up while she expressed. Then he was straight back to sleep till we woke him again. smartgirl - 2008-06-26 10:12:00 |
| That's excellent team work! I really hope he gets the hang of it soon for both their sakes. grizzly4 - 2008-06-26 19:02:00 |
| Oh the poor girl It took A 10 MINS to express using a Medela Pump in Style Advance. She bought the pump off TM and then purchased a new lactation kit from the Baby Factory. The first pump she got was an Avent but it only did one side and took her 30 mins. It was exhausting. She was so much happier with the double pump. M R never got back to breastfeeding. After her operation for her tongue tie she would not feed off the breast. A expressed for 5 and a half months until she weaned her to Goats milk. makerealbany - 2008-06-26 20:52:00 |
| Hiya smartgirl Having fun with the girls. I had a good day with my grandson today. We are so lucky we have been there and done that. sigh. I am talking about all the probelms with the breastfeeding. It wears the girls out. My poor daughter dropped weight so fast. She was a size 10 in a month. Wish I could do that. ha ha, Not that way though. makerealbany - 2008-06-26 20:57:00 |
| Another lousy day weatherwise I went for a haircut today and strolled into K Mart. Picked up a few balls Studio Mohair for $1-40 a ball, sort of a Burgundy colour. Using it for the Soccer fundraising. They had other colours but they were only reduced to $3 50 a ball. It is so strange how they do that in K Mart only reduce some colours. I guess this is not a popular colour. makerealbany - 2008-06-27 18:01:00 |
| makereal, I get mine cut on Monday. its way overdue but when I get it done it will feel good. glad you had a good day. How are you selling your scarves. smartgirl - 2008-06-27 18:04:00 |
| I can't find a minute to get tothe hairdressers! Only a couple of weeks overdue but I feel shaggy as! Maybe this week. grizzly4 - 2008-06-28 10:50:00 |
| Hi smartgirl The Soccer team is raffling some of the scarves and beanies at their Trivial Pursuit night on the 11th of July. The others they are giving away as lucky seat prizes. Went into K-Mart today and got more wool. Palette multicoloured for 69 cents a ball on Special. Got enough for about 8 jerseys for the little ones. This mix machine washes well so that is a plus. Had to remind daughter that Woolen garments should be washed by hand. She was using Lux Soap Flakes though and a gentle cycle so that was good. There are so many sales on at the moment. Got Master 4 who is 5 in November an All Black Zippered Jacket for his birthday. It was half price at Farmers. He is rugby mad ha ha. Strange that Lol. Considering all the males in our family are Rugby Mad. makerealbany - 2008-06-28 19:07:00 |
| I not only felt shaggy I looked shaggy grizzly. Today I was rather cool around the neck though. ha ha. Was looking for a beanie to wear myself and out of all the dozens I have knitted, do you think I could find one. Bit of a shambles in the cottage. Did not want to wear one of the new ones I had knitted for Soccer. Ah well I will make some extra. makerealbany - 2008-06-28 19:10:00 |
| Spent the day Cleaning at my sick son's. My 18 year old grandson who is at Uni was away at his mothers for a week because of the end of Semister. Boy the rubbish we found in his room. I could write a book. My son and I were swearing and cursing so it was a good thing that he was away. No idea of cleanliness. He was brought up by his Mum and she spoilt him rotten and I guess we did every time he came to stay. Trying to teach him the basics is diabolical. Never mind we shall persevere. makerealbany - 2008-06-29 17:26:00 |
| I can understand where you are coming from. I have the same problem here. I dont know how they can live like it. smartgirl - 2008-06-29 18:46:00 |
| I remember those days of having a teenager in the house! Yuk!! Off to the surgeon again today to see what the next step for I's knee is going to be. Pretty brassed off with him (surgeon not I) as he has had papers to sign for our income insurance for a week without doing anything with them. He has a bull terrier for a receptionist as well that made life very difficult for us last week. I guess the honeymoon is over in terms of I. being off work. grizzly4 - 2008-06-30 08:23:00 |
| It is amazing how Some of these so called medical professionals treat people. You have to constantly remind them of things. My Doctor who is a locum for my actual GP informed me on Tuesday that I cannot take antiinflammatory drugs with my Bloodthinner tablet. Why because it rips the lining off your stomach. 6 years too late!!!! They the GPS prescribed the b----dy things and just because I mention that my stomach has been playing up they give me Losec and still it bleeds and now oops who gave those anti---- to you. 'Check your bl----dy records'. I am so mad I could spit. Well at lest I know what the probelm with my stomach is. makerealbany - 2008-06-30 19:50:00 |
| On a nicer note It was a lovely day here today. Windy and perfect for the washing and airing out things. It just started raining, tonight though. Won some wool auctions to add to mt stash. I think I will need that stash the way things are going. Basics are getting more expensive and I really think before I go anywhere in the car. I try and fit in as much as I can. No more of this I will just duck down the road. Times are changing. The meat prices amaze me. One week pork is cheaper than it is beef. Chicken is soaring in price and Lamb is out of sight. As for cheese. Wow. What is it like down there grizzly. Your prices are most likely the same as ours smartgirl. makerealbany - 2008-06-30 19:59:00 |
| They are makereal, but on sunday I noticed anchor cheese 1kg for $9.99. I paid $10 99 for it the week before. smartgirl - 2008-06-30 21:50:00 |
| South Island is pretty much the same. Do you have Pak'n'Save up there. I make a special run to get cheese there as it is 1kg for $7-$8. My son has started getting meat packs from his local butcher rather than the supermarket, better specials. Thats going backto the old days round here. Hubby has another med cert for 6 weeks with no decision being made! grizzly4 - 2008-07-01 08:21:00 |
| Yes we go to Pak'n'Save One of our Butchers has some good specials as well. You just have to look around. Got 3 doz balls Palette wool from K- Mart this morning all at 69c a ball. Machine washable. Ha ha. Some varigated and some plain. There were at lest 4 grandmothers sorting out wool and we were all talking about our kids and the no handwashing rule. Lol. It was very entertaining. We all said how many grandchildren we have and what we knit. I really enjoyed that 10 to 15 minutes. Looking at the prices of woolen jerseys for children I was stunned when I saw $30 and up. Just had a scone I cooked yesterday, yum. Saw scones in the cafe as I went past for $3. Got to find the muffin book. Have heaps of bananas and want muffins. The pounds are going to jump on my hips this winter. When I feel cold or sick I eat. How is that wee grandson of yours grizzly? makerealbany - 2008-07-01 12:22:00 |
| Wee B is not putting on weight as expected and daughter S is losing it too fast apparently. She also told her midwife that she had wound infection from her caesar who brushed her off! Three days later insisted midwife checked it to find she had broken 2 stitches and has big infection!!!! Put her on tee tree oil because of antibiotic affect on milk but I really think it's too late for this. S says her milk supply has halved over last couple of days. Sure sign something is wrong, surely? grizzly4 - 2008-07-02 08:55:00 |
| The poor girl, fancy passing it off without checking properly the first time. There is something you can get from health shops to help milk increase again. smartgirl - 2008-07-02 09:51:00 |
