I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning everyone.

Ouchies Kiwimade, hope you have plenty of pain killers, cos your bound to do more than you should, its a taurus thing lol

Overcast here, very glum. My friend is moving all the furniture etc today, so I dont like her chances of getting things in dry.

Our lawn boys are / were coming to do our gardens this morning. I dont think they will come either.

Only did 4 squares yesterday. mrP was beyond sore last night and getting his Grumpy bear on, so I gave him a tramadol and he was out like a light fairly quickly and I had an evening of reading which was nice.

Did some measurements in the spare room last night. I can get a third pantry in all on the same wall so I can keep all the other craft stuff in and clear off the sewing table a bit too. And the shelves I have in there now can go in the garage for MrP's tools that are kinda piled up at one end.

So Im going to shout myself a pantry for christmas. But Im also going to pay an extra $20 and have them build it and deliver it for me.

HAve a pile of dishes again this morning then I can craft

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, well yesterday I changed my mind about going to knit and natter and decided I wouldn't go, then a friend messaged me and said she was going so I changed my mind back and decided I would go. As a result of that, I'm going out for a meal tonight at one of the local restaurants to celebrate another friends birthday. But wait, there's more. Apparently it isn't her birthday until Tuesday but one of her friends can't go out for a meal on Tuesday, which is why we're going tonight, but the rest of us that can go on Tuesday are also going to the club for a meal on Tuesday evening. I don't think it's a special birthday (one with a zero on the end) but I guess every birthday is special, more so as you get older.

Hopefully going to the club this afternoon to play mah jong - that depends on the numbers. I want to mow the lawns this morning - it's too windy to go to the boat again.

Tomorrow there's a high tea and fashion show at the club, I haven't got my ticket yet but plan to go as a friend is one of the models. Should be fun.

Meantime I'm cutting out some velvet hats to sew for the next craft market, not sure when I'll be there again but I could get a call at fairly short notice, hope it's later in the week when there's a cruise ship in.

Good luck with the shifting kiwimade, hope your ankle doesn't take too long to sort itself out.

Happy knitting everyone.

Good morning all - hope your ankle heals quickly, Kiwimade. I'm sure you'll probably do much more than you should with the move!
Kuaka - what a busy life you have just now. Hope you get more time at the markets. What are your velvet hats like?

Was a little disappointed with the size of the daisy purse although I did make it using DK yarn. I am making another one, still using DK, but it is a lot firmer yarn and is coming out a lot bigger.
Job for today is making a start on handmade chocolates. Have made 20 containers - some crackers, some baskets, and will fill them with chocs. Have to do the chocs in batches as I can't stand for too long - about 2 hours is my limit.
Have a good day everyone

Forgot to mention in my last post - did anyone get the Deramores email this morning about the sea creatures collection? Am very tempted, but can't really justify buying the kit as I only knit on spec, not for anyone in particular. Will have to give it some thought.

Yes I got it too Tinybaldone. They were rather cute. Im not buying it either now that Im not knitting.
Busy days Kuaka, good on you. Nice being able to please yourself what you do.
Love the daisy purses Tinybaldone.. Love the colours and style.

Got our First christmas card in the post today. Its always a race between friends in Taranaki or my Aunty.. The friends won this year, lol.

Ive got mine out but havent written in them yet, or MrP would be nagging to get them in the post.

The rain has stayed away, so far. I assume the moving is going fine. but the gardeners havent arrived as yet. I guess they have missed the "In the morning" as they said they would be here lol.

Have done a couple of sqaures and rewound some smaller balls of wool.

Afternoon
A beautiful day here. Do look after that ankle Kiwimade, ouch.

Love your efforts Tinybaldone they are all great but particularly love the daisy purse.

Been sorting out the garage as realised my emergency stuff was in an inaccessible place if really needed it. Also the large bucket of water as at least 6yrs old, it is in a well sealed container and still seemed perfectly ok, nothing swimming in it or smell but have changed it, its not the drinking water that is in bottles.
Need to secure a cupboard to the wall too but can't find the studs so will need to get a stud finder. I happily bang the walls bhut where I think there is a change of tone there doesn't seem to be anything behind it. I'm totally tone deaf so perhaps that has something to do with it lol.

well we are back from the shifting and got 99% of it done. We came home as my ankle is so sore and I needed to put it up. The house they are moving into is 1950's style and even has the original door handles inside.

I love the little purses tinybaldone, just gorgeous!

Time to put this foot up and do some crafting :)

Afternoon ladies, just back from playing mah jong at the club, and I'm going to have a glass of wine, get changed and then walk into town to meet up with the others at the restaurant, one of them has said they will drop me off at home on their way to their home. Save me the hassle of finding somewhere to park in town - it's pretty busy there.

I have just realised what I did wrong with my first attempt at the daisy purse, so I think I'll be undoing it and redoing bits of it. Oh well. (Bugger - is all I can say) but your one is gorgeous tinybaldone - I wonder why I am having so much trouble making sense of patterns these days - maybe I should give up. (not on your nelly!)

Have a super evening everyone.

Morning everyone
A blustery day here.

My friend was lucky and got all moved without rain... So im happy for her.

The gardener arrived at 1pm yesterday and had cleared out most of the gardens. hes coming back this afternoon to take the rubbish away.

So I decided to weed thw garden in the front of the house. It went well, then I cleared the left over leaves from my blue bells. And dug up the daffodil Bulbs YAY.. Was pretty good pain wise.

But oooh this morning at 5am I could barely move. Id slept in one spot for 7 hours too which didnt help. And it took two hours for pain meds to start helping..
So I dont think Ill rush to do the weeds under the berrys for now lol

Have to pop up the road, but other than it Ill be sewing in ends and doing more squares.

Hope your foot is feeling better Kiwimade.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, well the boat is not on the plan for today, it's blowing like stink out there, and I will only row out in perfect conditions - so she will have to wait a bit longer.

Might clean some more of the deck this morning ready for staining then this afternoon I've got a ticket to a "high tea and fashion show" at the club. Only going really because a friend is one of the models, but it should be fun. After the amount of tea I ate last night at the restaurant I think I might walk to the club, and if I can't get a lift home, then I'll walk home as well. The exercise won't hurt me.

I have sorted out the daisy purse, and now it is looking much better. Silly me. I must have been in dopey mode when I did it. Still haven't heard if I have a spot on the market on Thursday. Will just have to wait and see.

And some good news yesterday, a friend who has been living across the ditch for seven years, is coming back to live in the new year. She will be in Whangarei, which means we can catch up now and again for shopping/coffee/lunch whatever, and if I ever need a place to stay in Whangarei it will be with her rather than Trev the terror!

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) That is good news kuaka, be nice to have her 'home' and a nicer place to stay!

My ankle is still sore but manageable now. Spent yesterday with it up so today I will do the housework that would normally be done over the weekend. Looks like it is going to be a stunning day so should even be able to have windows open.

The Furry One is on the hunt for the rabbit that has been visiting us over the past few weeks and eating it's way through the vegie garden. It certainly keeps him busy, although yesterday he didn't leave my side while I had my foot up.

Time for some crafting after lunch I think.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Good news re ankle Kiwimade.
Beautiful day here but supposed to get hot later so I'm off to town soon while cool enough to walk one way.

Brought a stud finder yesterday and now China cabinet attached to wall - and "extra" holes filled in so can't see them! As it took me a couple of goes to work out exactly what the finder was indicating lol. Have a large picture to hang later now I'm on a roll.

Have a good day all

Morning ladies, well I ended up taking the car when I went to the club yesterday, when I stepped out the front door the wind nearly blew me off my feet. I really enjoyed the afternoon, it was good fun, lots of yummy things to eat, music, even got up and danced, the fashions were interesting and the models were all "normal" people not wafer thin. There was no catwalk, they just sauntered round amongst the tables. Met some of my neighbours there as well as the friend I had arranged to meet, and two of the neighbours came back to my place for drinks and nibbles.

Then Trev the terror phoned and said he'd been to some travel expo and there was a special on for a cruise round NZ and oz but he needed to book today to get the special price, and then he said that we'd have to share a cabin, so I said "no thank you, not interested" so he said he would see if his grandson wants to go. He's got a flipping cheek.

Right, I had better get ready to go to the op shop. There is no wind this morning, would be perfect to go out to the boat except the tide is out, maybe I can go tomorrow before going to mah Jong.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Looks like a mixed bag of weather today.

Taking MrP for his scan this morning. nice and early.

Had an awesome day yesterday. I decided I just had to get things done. So i got the vauuming done, 3 loads of washing and two of them went outside. Lovely fluffy wool blankets.
Then weeded under the raspberrys and blackberries. And cut out the dead vines

The lawn guy came back and finished the last bit of the vege garden and took the two huge piles of weeds away. he will come back today and empty the compost bin for us.
At this stage we will leave the two gardens empty, and just keep spraying them.
Filled the pill trays and folded the washing..

And did one square lol.

Its the most Ive done in one day for quite a while and everything looks soo nice outside again.

Woke up with a stiff neck lol... Must have slept at an odd angle lol.

Dont think ill take my crochet with me today tho. Changing colours is a nuisance in a waiting room lol.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) Am a bit bleary eyes this morning thanks to the Furry One. Last evening 'his' rabbit didn't appear, he was waiting for it on the steps and nothing. Thought it was odd as it has been a regular 'visitor' for a couple of weeks now. We found out why at 2.00am when The Furry One had a female stoat baled up under the house. What a racket she made, MrK thought it was a rat at first and went out to investigate. He moved some timber he had stored there and backed out very quickly. It's the first time The Furry One has killed a pest that fights back so he had a good checking over when he came in. Of course the stoat had to be shown off in the kitchen, not appreciated at that hour! And mrK thinks there was another one as well as he's pretty sure he saw one run off. Probably a male as it is spring.

So my first thing to do is to apologise to our neighbours about the endless barking. BUT ins saying that, we are quite chuffed the stoat is gone as we have lots of bird life around here.

will do some crafting this afternoon if I don't fall asleep first lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Oh what a night Kiwimade but good there is one less stoat around, don't like those type of vermin.

What a sense of achievement Popeye, you certainly sleep well after a day of outside activity.
I had a great walk to town yesterday and got all the buttons that I needed but haven't sewn them on yet - something to do this evening I think.
Off to Mainly Music in a few minutes good fun love seeing how much the little ones enjoy the signing and activities.

Morning ladies, well I was up at 6.30 and there wasn't a breath of wind, so I thought that even though the tide is out I could go out to the boat, I can drag the dinghy down the beach more easily than dragging it up the beach, but by the time I'd had breakfast the wind had kicked in, so not going to happen today.

I emailed my sister about Trev's suggestion that we go on a cruise and share a cabin. Her reply: OMG! I said to her, I don't think he's got rocks in his head, he's got boulders. (I'm going to rename him Trev the terrier - 'cos he's like a dog with a bone!) I am going to have to tell him quite bluntly to stop trying to find ways of having me stay at his place (or worse) and if he keeps doing it, we shall no longer be friends - not that we are even really friends, he was a friend of Mr K, nothing to me really.

I've just had a phone call from the chap who organises the market, and there's a spot for me on Thursday and again on Saturday, so fingers crossed for some good sales. There's a ship in on Thursday but on Saturday I think it's just a market, but it's getting near Christmas so people should be looking for presents. Here's hoping.

I've just cut out the linings for the velvet hats which I cut out recently so hopefully I can get some of them made in the next couple of days, they don't really take "that" long to make. And I've got a gollywog knitted just needs sewing together - that will take a while.

Right, I need to press on and do a few things.

Have an awesome day everyone.

They were both done with DK yarn, but the bigger one was made with cheapie $2 for 100gm yarn from the $2 shop. Will have to take that into account when making things. Still making chocs, so better get on with it.
Have a great day all

What a difference between the purses Tinybaldone, they are certainly cute though.
Your velvet hats sound intriguing Kuaka, can we see a photo at some stage please. Hope your markets go well. We have had a couple of large cruise ships in this week I try and avoid town when they are here.

Going to be hot today so will get on with washing etc so can knit this pm.

Morning ladies, I didn't sleep well last night (well I did in the chair when I came home from having a meal at the club) but I woke at 3.30 and read for an hour or so, then dozed till 6.30 and got up. Been busy sewing (another velvet hat).

Looks like being a lovely day here, going to knit and natter a bit later, then have to get a few groceries, then home for a tidy up as I have a friend coming for tea tonight - she's off to Aussie on Saturday not back till end January, I will miss her, but she's going to spend time with her sons and grandchildren, so I'm pleased for her. Haven't decided yet what we will eat.

Have a super day everyone.

I have to pop out to popst a sale and pick up another posty bag for a pressie to CHCH.

morning ladies (only just lol). I've been busy outside making the most of the sunshine. Lawn is mowed, edges done, roses deheaded.

Thought you might like a bunch of roses to make you smile. For those who want their names, the white is Iceberg, the apricot Frilly Jilly and the pink I think is Santa Rosa.

Crafting this afternoon after I have had my shower.

Morning ladies, thick fog this morning, so obviously no wind, would probably be good to go to the boat once the fog clears, but I have to be at the market in an hour, so here's hoping for a busy day with lots of sales.

Had a lovely evening with my friend last night, I ended up cooking a bbq, sausages, steak, potatoes, and stir-fries all done on the bbq and a broccoli and sweetcorn salad to go with it, washed down with a glass of cider. And good company too. I won't see my friend again till the end of January as she's off to Aussie for a couple of months.

Right, I had better press on. I've got some knitting to take with me for the times when we are just sitting with no customers queuing up to buy our goods.

Have a super day everyone.

Beautiful roses Kiwimade. Iceberg is our favourite. Funny thing I love white roses as much as mum hated them lol.

Shopping this morning.

And Hopefully the builders will arrive to do the front porch.. he came around last night to say they were starting today.. YAYAYAY lol... Happy Much?

Its cloudy here and is warm.. not as much as you had yesterday Jayemtoo... I didnt feel over warm at all yesterday here.

Afternoon ladies, I'm home. I did manage to sell a couple of things but it was generally quiet, the passengers were delayed coming ashore a couple of hours because of the fog, and most of those that did come didn't seem to be in a spending mood. Never mind, I covered my costs with a bit to spare so I brought home more money than I started with and less "stuff" than I had this morning so I can't complain. I wouldn't want to be doing it for a living though.

Time for a cuppa and then tonight apparently we are decorating the tree for the street Christmas party - bring wine I'm told! These are the best "committee" meetings I've ever been to.

morning ladies :) I finished the wee cross stitch for our granddaughter, need to iron it and lace it onto a board and MrK will make a frame for it. Having the frame made certainly cuts the cost down.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Overcast here and rather humid... but I refuse to dwell on it.

The guys are next door doing their porch, which wont be as usefull as ours cos thiers wont fully block the rain from the door.
Another bonus to us looking at that unit first, but this end became vacant first and landlord asked did we mind which one we had...

We call the next door on the transitional unit, lol.

Dont forget pictures when the picture is done Kiwimade lol.

I really need to get on with my crochet, I just seem to have alot on at the mo.

Changed the bed washed the sheets now it's raining!

The porch sounds like a great addition to your place Popeye.
Getting a bit carried away with making booties at the moment think I will do a beanie next. Just downloaded 2 more patterns from Ravelry. Better go do messages first then crafting as too wet to garden (good one).

Well I am back from the Warehouse sale but have to go again... bought two soft toys for our grandson and great niece and the Furry One got his nose into the bag and thought they were for him. Silly me... I should have bought him one, how did I forget that? So mrK gave him one (grrrrrr) and the Furry One was like a kid in the candy store. Just went nuts over a pink soft teddy bear lol. It was cheaper than a dog's soft toy so can't complain and we did get a lot of laughs watching him with it. Now he's cuddled up with it on the couch.

Time for a cuppa, then housework and then crafting.

Lol Kiwimade with the furry one pinching a toy.. Missy helped herself to a teddy I had a while back. So now it resides in her toy box. She gets it out every so often.

Ive done the chirstmas cards, and wrapped two parcels. Have to figure out what to get the landlords and lawn guys. Might get them a box of fancy bikkies and some nice crackers each.

Its raining here now and the humidity has gone. yay.. Im sure the builder must be speding nore time in the van than out of it.

Crochet this afternoon

10837

Afternoon ladies, a very late and slow start to my day, I didn't wake till almost 9 and then spent most of the morning running to the loo. I don't know what's upset my tummy but my bum knows all about it!

I had intended going to kerikeri this morning but it wasn't a good idea, if I don't go to the loo again by the time I've finished my cuppa then I'm gone. I need to return a pair of leggings which I bought in whangarei as I managed to pick up a pair of size 18 when I need 12. Just as well I saw the tag before shortening them. Decided 3 spades will do me, so will return the spade too, and I need plants and fertiliser for the garden - not very exciting. Will possibly buy things that aren't on the list, and hopefully get a haircut when I get back here, there's a place opened up where you don't need an appointment and she did a pretty good cut last time. I'll take my knitting in case I have to wait.

Enjoy your afternoon, looks like it will rain shortly.

kuaka - 2016-11-25 13:47:00
10838

morning ladies :) we have another group of students arriving today so a quick vacuum and once over in the bathroom to do this morning. Have mud to clean off the carpet thanks to a very busy Furry One digging a hole in the lawn around midnight. He has never dug the lawn up before so heaven knows why he did it last night. MrK said he can repair it - the Furry One had half of his body in it by the time I realised what he was up too! So it's a decent sized hole.

I should be able to start something this afternoon, still deciding. I'm going to have a go at drying some roses so will pick some when the sun has dried the petals off.

Have fun shopping kuaka :)

Happy knitting :)

Ohh boy the furry one has been busy..wonder if there is a rabbit warren close by that he was hoping to intercept.

I did 8 squares yesterday so thats good.

MrP has onpurposley just sat there and picked an argument.. Told him to shut his mouth , Ill be manning the hair clippers later lol.. he needs to be careful.
No doubt he is sore but wont admit it. but I told him I wont put up with his moods or picking a fight.

I aim to get some decorations out later, but it will depend on how hot it gets.

Have got corned beef in the crockpot so at least thats his tea sorted.

Morning
Be interested in how your dried roses turn out Kiwimade. I dried rose petals in the microwave for a niece's wedding, the pink ones worked the best, white ones went brownish and red were rather dark.

morning ladies :) I hope you had a great day with your g/f yesterday, sunflowers. Times like this you find out who your friends are.

Our students arrived yesterday and were walking around the garden fascinated by the vegies growing. They had never seen an apple growing on a tree and took some convincing they were eating raw peas when we opened some pods. And they picked strawberries for the first time. We are so lucky living in NZ.

It's not knitting, but this is what I have been working on over the last couple of weeks. It's all laced up ready for framing and MrK is going to make a rustic frame for it. I've had the pattern for a couple of years now with our granddaughter in mind and finally got it done. *ticks off to-do list*

Morning ladies, not a terribly successful day at the market I'm afraid, I sold one $18 item, but it was my 10th market and every 10th one is free, so I didn't have to fork out my $10 for the stall. It was the Santa parade in Kerikeri so our little town was very quiet. I'm booked in for one on 8th Dec and there is a ship in so fingers crossed for that one.

I'm still trying to get my hair cut. I tried on the way home from Kerikeri on Friday but she had just shut up shop, I tried yesterday after the market but she had gone home not feeling well, she is supposed to be there this morning so maybe third time lucky. If not, she's not open again till Thursday.

It's our street Christmas party today, so I'm baking some chocolate eclairs to take with me, for dessert (or is that desert - that's the one that I never know!) If they don't turn out any good I won't bother taking them, as I didn't offer to, just decided it would be a nice extra.

Oh yes, I made the ladies at the market laugh yesterday when I said "well that wasn't very intelligent, I've just sewn the button on a baby bootee and then sewn up the buttonhole!" I had trouble unpicking where I'd stitched it up but I made sure not to make the same mistake on the next one.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
That is gorgeous Kiwimade, I'm sure Maddy will treasure it. We sure are lucky in NZ to be able to have our own fresh produce.

Oh dear Kuaka sewing up the button hole - made me smile as that's the sort of bright thing I would do.

Had a lovely play in the garden yesterday, still have quite a bit to do then it will be a trip to the dump as both my weed bins are full.

Did quite a bit of knitting in the evening so the top is growing nicely.

Morning everyone

The cross stitch is lovely Kiwimade. It does make you realise that we are lucky to live here, and be able to grow food. Its a very good idea to have the students seeing other parts of the world and learning just how things work. did they like the peas and strawberries?

Our gardens are sorted, although I will have to deadhead the roses, they are getting blown about.

I put some christmas decorations out after cutting MrPs hair yesterday.

he admitted he was very sore, hes always tried to pick a fight and storm off to his room, rather than admitting he is sore, cos he sees that as a weakness. Just as well I dont take offence from it tho. not many would live with that.

Lol Kuaka, the only person that can undo my sewing up is me. we have all made mistakes like that I bet.

I worked out yesterday how much we will get back from the phone and power accounts. I keep them in credit through the year and then get it out just before christmas. Its the safest way of saving for me.. i feel like we will be rich lol... And we spend it how we like. Mine will include a wool order lol.

Im going to try and attack the spare room. Ive decided its time to go right through the wardrobe in there. I keep the christmas stuff in there but also alot of other stuff that we just dont need since its there all year around. And hopefully ill find the kitchen curtains I made nearly 10 years ago, but have never wanted to put up cos they get grubby in there. but the others are really grotty and breaking now lol.

Have a fab day everyone.

We're back from the beach and just in time as it is persisting down out there. Lmao kuaka, if you are like me and stitch things to last then you would have had a dickens of a job! And I now have a blind in the kitchen, maybe you could look at something like that popeye. It's one you can see out of but not in so lots of privacy and we can see who is approaching the back door if it is down. Much easier to manage than curtains and easily wiped down.

Time for some crochet I think, MrK is on dinner duty :) and I need to put my ankle up.

Kiwimade - your cross-stitch is beautiful - I'm sure it will be much loved. Hope the ankle gets better soon.
Kuaka - Sorry your day wasn't better, at least it wasn't a complete waste of time. Have to admit, I laughed at your story re the buttonhole - just the sort of thing that I'd do!
The craft fair is on Tuesday this week - hope I make some sales.
Have a good week all.

morning ladies :) Thank you tinybaldone, I'm pretty chuffed with it. It was a French pattern and part of a series so might do a couple more as they were pretty quick compared to others I have done.

Last night our students came to me with their phones on google translate. the message was: HELP!! There is a spider in the bathroom!! (actually there were three but we won't go there lol). I had just put nail polish on. I showed them my hands - wet nails, can you wait until the polish dries in about one minute? Noooooo..... I want to brush my teeth. So I go and have a look and yes, the daddy long legs was there along with his two friends. I used the mop to move them outside. So, now I know I can move spiders with wet nail polish. Who knew lol.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
What a great effort Kiwimade, wet nails and all! A couple of daddy Long legs around the place is good housekeeping as they keep the flies down - well that's as good a reason as any to have them lol. I used to tell a small niece when she freaked out that the spider was my friend Albert who lived in that room and she wasn't to scare him by her yelling.

Hope your craft fair is a huge success Tinybaldone.

Still rather windy here, was very windy yesterday so not very pleasant in the garden but great for knitting.

Morning ladies, it looks like it's going to be another lovely day here, and when I first got up looked like perfect conditions to row out to the boat (but I can't anyway as I'm in the op shop at 10) but now the wind has started. I'm a bit of a "no risk" charlie when it comes to going out there. Terrible that charter boat tragedy on the Kaipara Harbour. Ruined a lot of Christmases for the families involved.

The street party was a huge success. There were about 26 of us at one stage, then a couple drifted off and then more arrived. We had a couple of trestle tables with table cloths, and decorations on, two bbqs, several of the neighbours had brought little tables, and chairs, we had hay bales for extra seating, and all this on the rather large driveway of one house. We had music, and everyone took their own drinks, some meat for the bbq, some salad or something sweet. I got there at midday to help set up for the 12.30 start, but most of it was already organised, I left at 7 and it was still going when I went to bed at 9.30. I think it's possible we will have another one next year.

Awesome news this morning, a friend of mine from the UK is visiting her daughter for a couple of weeks in December and the daughter lives about 2km from here.

Better get myself ready for work. Didn't do any knitting yesterday and possibly won't get much done today, as I want to mow the lawns when I get home from the op shop and then the club at 5pm as the membership draw is $1000, and that would be quite handy.

Have a super day everyone.
