I reckon you can never have too much wool either

morning ladies! omg kuaka lol, the things we do. I know what you mean by a 'sammy', we call it a sack barrow and use it lots. So useful and cheap as chips (under $40) at Mitre 10. Hopefully you aren't too sore today. As for the spades, you'll have a good choice now lol. Housework today, hopefully the rain will hold off until the washing is dry. I've put my knitting aside for a bit to cross stitch a pattern I have had for a couple of years. Should only take me a week to do as it's quite small. Am trying to use my stash as much as possible, have so much embroidery stuff I need a few lifetimes to use it. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-11 08:02:00
Morning ladies, well I'm surprisingly "un-sore" so that's good. I used the cutting table before tea to cut out a couple of tote bags (which I hope to sew today for the market tomorrow) and it was so easy. Should have had one years ago - well years ago I had a door sitting straddled between a couple of chests of drawers and that worked fine, but I didn't get custody of it when I left my first husband. Looks like it won't be long before it's raining. I plan to fill the Safari with diesel (if it will start) possibly go to the Friday knit and natter, do some sewing and have a bit of a tidy up, then have an easier afternoon, seeing as I'm at the market Saturday and Sunday and I had such a mammoth effort yesterday. I deserve an easier day now and again. I have an almost completed knitted pig to finish for tomorrow and I would like to do another daisy purse, I've got a second one almost finished, doing it differently from the pattern, so see how it works out. It's going to be basically two flowers joined together back to back with a strap. If that works I'll do another. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-11 08:24:00
Morning everyone. Kuaka you have proved that 'Women Can DO Anything" Awesome effort. And it doesnt hurt to have spares of anything. A big Burly Police could be a handy thing for Every women to have lol. I have to pop up the street again this morning. I didnt get to the post shop, the roads were busy and Id already done enough walking yesterday. Works good tho cos I had another sale over night too. I need to get into the crochet. Ive been very slack of late.. but Ive also been busy with MrP needing extra care too I suppose. Hope all goes well for your Markey Kuaka. It usually takes a few times for people to lodge it in their heads that your stuff is there. Right best ring the chemist and at least give them a bit of notice for repeats. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-11 09:19:00
Well it didn't take my nosey little puss long to discover there was something new in the house that needed her approval. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/529226256.jpg When the table top is folded down it hides the fabric stashed within so quite tidy. kuaka - 2016-11-11 14:05:00
morning ladies. It is persisting down here so looks like a crafting day today. I love your cutting table, kuaka, I could use one of those. I use the kitchen bench or the floor which doesn't always work out. And of course puss has to check it out! I can see why it was such a struggle to get upstairs, even more kudos to you! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-12 07:56:00
Morning Out to the factory this am - that will keep me awake with the noisy machines then hopefully a quiet pm so can get on with the knitting. jayemtoo - 2016-11-12 09:07:00
Morning everyone No Show without Puss Kuaka. It will make things soo much easier eh I have to resort well basically put away all the stuff that had been dumped on my desk in the spare room. And its time I got rid of a few boxes up on top of one of the pantries, and slowly feed to polystyrene in the rubbish bags. Then a plastic crate of keepables can go up there and make room for wool Im expecting. Then an afternoon of crochet. Im 1/4 the way on a blanket and thats pathetic really. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-12 09:32:00

Hi Rasin check out Ravelry.com It looks like the puerperium cardigan by Kelly Van Nierkirk,a free, double knit pattern. I have knitted a few and they are quick and easy. nanasee1 - 2016-11-12 09:54:00
Morning all - just waved my house guest goodbye - did all sorts of things like take my car for a warrant - hadn't given it a thought so envious used to the old boy doing everything - sister and brother in law arriving this afternoon from the Gold Coast - sounds rude but hoping they get a motel gerry64 - 2016-11-12 09:56:00
Hi there Rasin11 - As nanasee has said, the pattern for the wee cardi is the puerperium cardi. It is quite small - meant for up to 12wks - but is a real cutie. Quick, too! tinybaldone - 2016-11-12 15:17:00
Afternoon ladies, just home from the market, but back again tomorrow. Because nobody is using the hall tonight, we just pulled the blinds, locked up and walked out so we don't have to set up again in the morning and don't need such an early start. I managed to make a few sales, but it was very quiet - apparently today is the day of one of the outlying areas "show day" or whatever they call it and it's quite a big event, so hopefully tomorrow will be busier. Anyway a few sales is better than no sales. I have made two daisy purses as well as the original one, (and another almost finished) but haven't sold any yet, and neither have I sold any tote bags yet, but hopefully I'll be able to get a spot closer to Christmas when it should be busier, that depends on one of the regulars wanting to opt out for a day for whatever reason. I've only made one daisy purse like the original pattern, the others I've made by joining two daisies together. I think I prefer them like that, and the daisies are quicker to make than the plain bit on the original. Time to put my feet up now for a while I think. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-12 16:02:00
Yes it was a show day just got photos of my wee girl with her face painted in her favourite purple as a butterfly. huntlygirl - 2016-11-12 20:33:00
morning ladies :) Good luck for today kuaka! Those little puerperium cardies are brilliant as they open right up so make changing baby easy peasy. I've knitted lots of them for our daughter and her midwife and plunket nurse have both commented on how good they are. And they only take 100grams of double knit, I embroider them, knit stripes, mix and match the buttons, the things you can do to dress them up a bit are endless. This wee cross stitch is coming together, I started it a year ago and decided I had the wrong fabric for it, so glad I unpicked it. Very happy with it so far. It's a picture of a fairy sitting on a tomtit with a cricket on her head. Perfect as a gift for our granddaughter. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-13 07:43:00
Morning everyone. Are the puerperium cardies done on circulars or straight needles? I live in hope that one day Ill be able to knit again. Well I had a good clean up yesterday, I enjoy being in my spare room sorting things out. Found some wool that had me confused for a minutecos its acrylic but was in a post bag from my SIL. She doesnt generally work in acrylic. Then I remembered later I got it from the woolman here to knit a cardy for MrP and he said he didnt need anymore. I must have gotten something from my SIL at the same time and used the bag for storage lol. I have a shelf and a half for the big balls of wool when they arrive. And Ill get the others out of the drawer too, when they arrive. I found out yesterday how nasty sellotape cutters can be. The tape i have is really hard to cut and I managed to cut the front of my thumb on it lol.. Of all things. And I had a ring on that thumbs that I very quicklyu dragged over the would cos I knew my thumb would swell lol.. Its like a multiple piercing lol. Dishes and crochet today , the bones are sore today. HAve a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-13 09:57:00
Afternoon Off soon to meet up with a good friend who is visiting my sister. jayemtoo - 2016-11-13 13:12:00
Hi Popeye I do the puerperium cardigan on straight needles for the body & use magic loop and circulars for the sleeves. That works best for me. It is a great pattern nanasee1 - 2016-11-13 14:01:00
Afternoon ladies, just back from the market. Another quiet day but again I made a couple of sales so wasn't a complete waste of time. Forgot to mention that yesterday some woman came in and was chatting to the secretary, then she came over, inspected a bag I had made, and as she put it down and walked away she said "I hope you give ***** a cut for using her pattern". I called after her "it's not her pattern". I mentioned it to the secretary but she didn't seem bothered, but I was fuming as I have had the pattern for years, and the ***** she referred to teaches quilted bag making. I thought it's not good enough if she is claiming the pattern as hers. So I dug the pattern out and showed it to the secretary today. She said "oh it would have just been a throw away comment, she wouldn't have meant anything" and I told her it didn't sound like a throw away comment, and I was annoyed because she didn't discuss it, just commented and walked away. So next thing secretary is checking out my pattern and my bag, took it outside to show someone else, and came back and announced that my pattern is dated way back in the 80s, is from America and it's not the same bag. So up your nose ***** !! Going to sit out on the deck with a glass of red and relax for a while. Hope everyone has had a good day. kuaka - 2016-11-13 16:31:00
What a cow Kuaka.. Id have yelled at her, why doesnt she stay and discuss it instead of running away like a whimp You know the truth so dont let her take up any more of your time. popeye333 - 2016-11-13 17:51:00
Popeye - I use a circular needle for the puerperium cardi only because it holds the stitches easily. When I come to the point of the sleeves, instead of putting the sleeve sts on a piece of yarn, I knit the sleeves at this point. I have to sew the seam later, but it suits me. I don't like circular knitting! tinybaldone - 2016-11-13 18:45:00
No tiny, no daisy purses have been snag fled up yet, but today I sold two puzzle balls. One lady just fell in love with the flower one and the lady behind her bought the spiky one. kuaka - 2016-11-13 18:52:00
That's supposed to say "snuffled up" not snag fled - stupid predictive text! It needs to try harder. kuaka - 2016-11-13 19:40:00
Morning everyone Had to put rubbish and recycling out, the lawn boys should be here today and I have to take MrP down to get his stitches and staples out this morning. Overcast but not cold or windy so thats good. Meant to fine up at the end of the week, which is good cos my friend is moving back into town. Have sorted the office again and is now how Id like to keep it, for a while anyway lol. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-14 07:32:00
Nor even "snaffled up" which was what I meant. Morning ladies. Well apparently there has been a huge earthquake felt nationwide - I didn't feel it up here. I was so tired I went to bed at 9.30 and woke again at 11.30 so I took half a sleeping pill and slept right through till 6.30 so this morning I feel almost human. Looks like a nice still day and the tide is high so I should be rowing out to the boat and running the motor but I can't as I'm at the op shop this morning. If it's like this tomorrow I will have to make an effort and go and check her before going to mah jong in the afternoon. So my plan for today is to come home from the op shop and have a bit of a tidy up, maybe vacuum the floors and wash the kitchen/dining room floor. See how I go with that. Some of my spinach has gone to seed and needs pulling out. Then to the club for the membership draw - think it's $800 tonight, hope to have a couple of frames of snooker there and then home for tea and then do some knitting (as long as I don't doze off in the chair) Sounds like a nice easy day. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-14 07:34:00
morning ladies :) we felt the earthquake, well I did, MrK snored his way through it. I have family there so waiting now. FB has a page where you can 'mark' yourself as safe. having a coffee with a friend today then back into pruning a tree with MrK when I get home. Kuaka, sounds like she is just a nasty person, I wouldn't worry about her. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-14 07:57:00
Morning jayemtoo - 2016-11-14 08:47:00
Morning -scary night -reality hit home with a bang - if the power goes off so does the oxygen supply and his portable unit was out in the hall cupboard - from now on every night will bring it into the bedroom - gerry64 - 2016-11-14 09:00:00
jayemtoo - yes I thought that about the currents after I posted. Will give it a miss for a few days. Don't think the weather is going to be suitable anyway. Hope everyone is safe. kuaka - 2016-11-14 09:07:00
A scary night in Wgtn and while it was on I was thinking that wherever this is cantered there will be horrific damage...amazing that there has been so little as it was HUGE. My family all work in central Wgtn so a day off for them, thankfully it was at night. I am inland and the suburb is well above sea level. marywea - 2016-11-14 09:50:00
We felt it here in Waiuku. it was a jolly good roll. Sounds like the whole country had some of it. My friend who lives out of town didnt feel it, shes about 3kms as the crow flys. She may have just been sleeping heavy I suppose. Ive heard from Whiskey13, she is ok but her boydog was scared.. Havent checked with the general yet to see if Craftylady has heard from her family in Kaikoura. popeye333 - 2016-11-14 12:23:00
morning ladies :) I hope those of you closer to the quakes have managed some sleep last night. Gerry, that would have been pretty scary! We slept with the torch and shoes beside the bed last night. MrK is off to the dentist for his hospital referral this morning and then I'm off to tie up dad's tomatoes. He's been in touch with our family (and so have I via FB) and all good. Another perfect day for crafting with the wet and windy weather. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-15 07:24:00
Morning ladies, if the rain holds off long enough I need to pull some weeds in the veg garden and some spinach which has gone to seed, but if the rain sets in before I get to that, then I guess I will be doing housework this morning - groan! I have a couple of little sewing (repair) jobs on things I brought home from the op shop. Beats me why people think it's okay to take clothing in that needs repairing - the op shop is lucky that I don't mind doing it for nothing, otherwise they put it in the rubbish and that costs them to dump it. Did anyone see the super moon last night. I fell asleep in the chair and when I woke the sky had cleared and it was very bright, but I couldn't actually see the moon as it was behind the house above me. I should have got in the car and gone for a drive, but I was too sleepy so I went to bed instead. Don't think the weather is going to co-operate tonight. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-15 09:09:00
Morning everyone I havent looked at the news yet but can only imagine how they must been felling down the country. HAve to go and post a sale today, Id rather stay at home but its a pay now one, so I like to be fast. Then back to my hook. and try and rest the pain I have. Kuaka I know what you mean re people giving junk or rubbish to the oppy. Sometimes things are missed on the clothes. I got a pretty nightie last week, it has a wee gap in a side seam, I think the overloacker simply missed it. So I must run that through the machine. It must cost the oppies alot to dump the stuff. ours has started doing bags of rags, which is one way of getting a little for the bad stuff and they remove buttons, so its possible to get a tiny bit from the waste. Have a good day everyone... popeye333 - 2016-11-15 09:17:00
On average I believe our op shop forks out $200 a month regularly for tip fees. kuaka - 2016-11-15 09:31:00
The storm has passed through Wgtn but still breezy. The aftershocks keep coming with another stongish one ten minutes ago. Finding it hard to settle to much. Spider solitaire is my friend!! One daughter still off work. The building has asbestos and air checks have to be done before it is back in use. Feeling so sorry for the people round the Seddon area where so many quakes are centred..geonet does not make reads reassuring postings. marywea - 2016-11-15 15:00:00
Morning Had mainly music yesterday then the team went out for a lovely lunch. jayemtoo - 2016-11-16 07:01:00
morning ladies :) Another wet day here by the looks of it. Oh well, means more crafting. We missed seeing the super moon as it was too wet and cloudy. Our grandson has gained 410g this week! The little glutton lol... he's doing so well. Washing machine has finished, better move. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-16 08:29:00
Morning beautiful day for sure Jayemtoo - going to get to high 20s so will have to crank up the air con for my patient gerry64 - 2016-11-16 08:57:00
Morning everyone. Your Grandy is doing well Kiwimade.. Alot sore this morning, so it will be crochet for me.. Im getting a little well Alot Over all this pain now. I dread waking up in the mornings cos I know its going to be horrible. Havent looked at the news yet, I hope there hasnt been too much more rain or quakes for lower down the country. HAve a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-16 09:25:00
Afternoon ladies, just home from town, went to knit and natter, then called in at the bank and retrieved my credit card which I absent-mindedly left in Whangarei last week - oops! picked up a few groceries, and now I am contemplating mowing the lawns. I don't feel like doing them, but they really need doing. Decisions, decisions. Going to a friends for tea tonight so that will be a nice change. Maybe I should make the effort and do the lawns. I guess I should inspect them and see how wet the ground is and then make a decision. Hope everyone is able to do some crafting today. kuaka - 2016-11-16 13:04:00
morning ladies :) Hope you enjoyed your dinner out last night kuaka. I'm going to mow the lawn this morning before the rain kicks in, trouble is where to put the clippings as I have filled both wheelie bins already with prunings from the camellia bush. Yesterday I dug an old tree trunk and roots out of the garden, it had finally rotted enough for me to put the fork into it and lever it out. I also built a path in the garden by myself and moved a garden ornament thing to the end of it (with MrK rolling his eyes at me) so pretty chuffed. Our son is moving flats this weekend, he and his flatmates had to leave as the house is being sold. They have all found another place together so all of us parents are helping them move this weekend. Time to get moving before the rain kicks in, was chatting to daughter and it's raining down her way so it won't be far off from here. Crafting later this afternoon for me. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-17 08:12:00
Morning everyone, My friend here is moving this weekend too Kiwimade. Shes been bringing in loads of boxes and crates before and after work so that will save alot. Shopping this morning. Our new fruit veges and spices shop has a good milk special. Normally you see 2 x 2litres for $5-50 but thats only dark blue. this shop is doing all colours 2 x for $5. So now that Dot is going to be living in town we can get milk together and save a bit. MrP had a wee trip without leaving the farm yesterday. lol.. He was very sore so I gave him a tramadol they had prescribed. After being a bit goofy he slowly shut down and had 3 hours solid sleep and the pain was much better lol.. hes never had them before, so I only gave him one, not the 2 at a time they prescribed lol... Im getting 8 squares a day done now, so have got my mojo back Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-11-17 08:44:00
Morning Slower start to the day but will take BiL to Hastings later to try and find a mixer or similar for something he wants to make at the factory, he always seems to have something in mind to make or adjust. Still using up wool making simplified milos for small boys. jayemtoo - 2016-11-17 09:09:00
Morning ladies, well I didn't get the mowers out yesteday but I did use the weedeater and did the very top lawn with it, the edges of the two middle lawns, the lower lawn and the strip down the driveway, then I used the blower-vac on the driveway and finished the bottom of the driveway with the broom. Thought about mowing the other two lawns and then thought "there's another day tomorrow - hopefully - they can wait". Then of course it rained in the night so I don't know if I'll be able to do them, but if not, I'll find something else to do instead. Too windy to go out to the boat this morning, so that's off. Had a lovely meal and evening with my friend, my turn to have her here and will need to be soon as she's off to Aussie in a couple of weeks and not back till end of January. I will miss her, she's good company, good fun. I did some sewing repairs yesterday, and managed to stitch almost entirely round one trouser leg with no thread in the spool, so I gave up and will have to re-pin the hem before I can sew it. Honestly I seem to do some really dopey things at the moment. At knit and natter yesterday we were discussing the woman who commented on my bag, and one of the ladies said "she's a nasty piece of work, really snippy". Apparently she told this particular lady that she needed lessons on how to price her work, and the recipient of this information said she's quite happy with the prices she charges. Some people! Anyway I don't feel so bad about it now that the others know I have a pattern for my bags. Have an awesome day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-17 09:22:00
morning ladies :) I didn't get to mow the lawn either so will do it today. Grass is a bit wet but with the new blade on the mower it should be ok. Bought my first Christmas pressie yesterday, love online shopping lol. Briscoes had a 60% off 'one day only' sale so bought daughter and son-in-law's pressie. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-18 07:49:00
Morning ladies, well I really don't know what to do today. When I first got up I thought there's no point thinking about going out to the boat as the tide is out and it's too windy, but now the tide is almost high and the wind has dropped a bit but now it looks like rain. I might go to the Friday session of knit and natter, and then mow the lawns if it hasn't rained, otherwise do some sewing. Just realised that the knitting I did last night is wrong, I mis-read the pattern, it's only the front of a jacket for a gollywog but I will have to unpick and re-do a few rows and of course I've cast off, so will have to unpick the cast off too. I still haven't seen this wretched moon, by the time I see it the thing will be back to it's normal size. Oh well, just have to hope I'm still around in 2034 and that it's not cloudy! Well done on the Christmas shopping kiwimade. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-11-18 09:13:00
Morning everyone Was a gentgle knock on the door at lunchtime, andit was our posty. She had put two parcels around by our ranch slider. And had noticed on her return that I hadnt brought them inside. I always shurt the curtain on the ranch slider when we go out and since the sun was heading that way I didnt bother to open it. A couple more days and Ill be half way through making the squares for the first blanket. So Im not going too slow lol. Have to go back up the road this morning, I didnt do any banking yesterday and petrol is cheap till lunchtime so Ill get some for Tuesday when I have to take MrP for a ultrasound on his liver. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-11-18 09:16:00
that was lovely of your postie popeye! Lawns mowed and a third tree stump pulled out, have never done it with a rope and the car before but it was all over in a flash. I dug another one out yesterday, so quite chuffed. I think that is all of them gone now. Time for a cuppa, think I have earned it. Edited by kiwimade64 at 10:20 am, Fri 18 Nov kiwimade64 - 2016-11-18 10:19:00
Yeah we have an awesome Postie Kiwimade. We always get her a christmas and birthday present. Have been up the road and done the banking and got Petrol while Gull had 10 cents off. And they were busy too. Its a beautiful day here today. And great for my friend who is moving Lol I remember years ago MrP and I were digging our massive Flax bushes. We tied a rope around my waist and the flax bush. I put tension on and MrP dug.. It worked well lol... Alot of fun too popeye333 - 2016-11-18 12:56:00
morning ladies :) That's one way to pull those flax bushes out lol. It's moving day for our son and his flatmates, they have found a house where they can stay together. So we're off to help with the move, trouble is I sprained my ankle yesterday on an uneven piece of concrete. I can still clean lower cupboards and so on, just won't be going up and down their stairs. We'll take our sack barrow too for lifting the heavier and awkward pieces of furniture. Hopefully I can stitch later today, almost finished the bird and fairy I am cross stitching for our granddaughter. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-11-19 07:18:00
