I reckon you can never have too much wool either

I am sure that those who made the decision to close the Napier hospital convinced themselves Hastings wasnt too far away but it is a nightmare for some elderly people without a supportive family - if they go over to hospital by ambulance at night - even if they have paid of belong - if they are not admitted an ambulance back costs them $200 - was over there the other morning in A&E waiting for my husband to be admitted - at 3.45 in the morning they were telling this little old lady they would ring her a taxi to take her home - there was nowhere she could wait until daylight - - the nurses said it happens regularly and they just hope the taxi driver sees them to their door -

That's awful Gerry. Reminds me of the time mr k had a stroke a years or so ago. I hadn't slept all night, and then spent all day out on the boat working, came home knackered and mr k was having a stroke. Called the ambulance and they took him through to whangarei rather than kawakawa to save time (they had to get clearance to do that) I said I needed a cup of tea and a shower and I would follow them down, so I got there around 10pm. After doing heaps of tests he was admitted about 3.30am and at 4am they said "you can go home now, you can't stay here" an hours drive at 4am was the last thing I needed and I didn't feel like paying $75 for a motel room at 4am when I would be awake again at 7. I ended up staying at "the whanau house" which is attached to the hospital - a bit like Ronald McDonald house" and I had a very welcome sleep for something silly like $10 or $12. Spent the day with mr k and then drove home safely that afternoon.

morning ladies :) That is horrible Gerry, makes it so hard for people. Waikato Hospital is a good 40 minutes away and we used to be able to claim milage from the Health Dept but they changed the distance and we miss out.

I'm halfway down one long side of MIL's embroidery tablecloth, it's not taking long to do. But because of it's size, it's awkward to work with so I'm borrowing some small clamps from MrK and clamping the excess fabric into a bunch. Might go to Mitre 10 and buy some for me!

Here's the 'strawberry tower' MrK made. The lid comes off for watering and there is mesh in the bottom for drainage.

Might pick up my needles or hook today, will see how I go.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
That is very nice Kiwimade, can just imagine a little one being interested in what it produces.

Brought wool yesterday for girl baby things, now really want to see how it knits up!

Yesterday was asked if could have a 10 & 8 yr old come today and stay over tonight so guess won't get much done knitting wise. Need to get to supermarket now and out to factory for a bit then go into kid mode as they are coming after lunch.

Have a good day all

Good Morning Everyone From Sunny Hawkes Bay.

Re the hospital moving across to Hastings happen a few years we came to live in Napier. I don't know how many remember or know Hastings Hospital is built on a dry river bed. So if we get a good earthquake it would be goodbye hospital.
It is a real pain for us as we don't have any family here in the area.
A friend had to spend the early hours of the night
in lazy boy chair when her husband was taken to the hospital.Due to her eyesight, she no longer can drive. She got the first bus back in the morning to Napier then walk 3 km.
Yes, Kuaku it was up on the hill and if you was in the tower block the view from the top was great.
I know they have 2 or 3 landing places around Napier to transport staff and patients across to the hospital. Also, there is equipment placed at places nearby.
I just hope I am not around if we have a bad earthquake.

Kiwimade ,When did they stop the travel funding? I received it here still if I keep my appointment cards and put them in with my other papers for my Disability Allowance. If we go over on the bus to an appointment at the hospital we get free travel.

Kuaku ,there is the whanau house in the old nurses' home., as the hospital covers such a large area.No sure, how it works or I would use it.

Thanks for sharing your table cloth with us. It's lovely . Kiwimade.

Gerry, hope you have your hubby back home with you soon.
Taking a workshop at The Book Art Group today so have been busy preparing for it.A great group of ladies and we have lots of fun. So very little knitting done the last few days.

Enjoy Your Day Everyone.

Morning everyone
Its crazy what people have to do when they go to "other" towns for the hospital.
Its not soo bad here, Middlemore is the closest for everything. But thats still 40 odd minutes away for us. we dont get any funding unless we claim it on the disability. And sometimes yoou forget to take the letters to be signed.
The letter arrived for MrP's surgery on Wednesday. He is soo looking forward to it.
A watch strap from his brother arrived too. A carved, well no stamped leather one for him. His wrists are very big, and we have umpteen watches where they dont fit cos of the strap length. So Ill put the watch together after Ive been on here.

Have to do some crochet today cos my wrist is telling me I had too much time off yesterday.

Ill never forget when I went into hospital before my heart stuff I was taken to the xray dept and there was a boy.. 16-17ish who had both hands up to his elbows wrapped up.. he made a firework bomb, and it blew up.. he said he learnt alot that night.. Thats 10 years ago next month, I often wonder if he has had them since

Have a fab day everyone

Sunflowers, you can still claim the milage but they have increased the distance you can claim for. We are 64km from the hospital and according to the Health Dept, this is close enough so we can't claim. Really cheeses me off as when MrK was so ill he was in hospital for three weeks it was a trip every day to see him. Really ate into the budget that's for sure.

Time for a cuppa, have dug out another 'bears paw' (there were three huge clumps originally and this is the last one) and replanted some plants. And We've made some tentative plans for a really scruffy area, the last bit to be redone. It means MrK building some seats and my arbour and I need a digger to take out four trees/shrubs. In the words of Miranda's mum... such fun!

Might do some knitting while I have my cuppa.

morning ladies :) Today I will be halfway around this embroidery and have decided to leave my MIL's stitching there. No point in redoing something that is done and I think it will be nice for MrK and our kids to have a little piece of 'Gran' in the cloth. I might embroider her initials under the work she has done too.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Kiwimade you would still be able to get a little on the disability benefit. Just take the appointment letters with you, get them stamped and signed, and when MrK has his review include the trips into it. Its not much but your entitled to it.
Will be a nice idea having grans name on the cloth too.

Going to take MrP up to the Junktion today.. its the shop at the recycling centre.. always lots to look at.. And ,might just find a drill bit . I got him one to fit a certain screw, and do you think we can find it. we didnt use it in the end cos the screws had bolt type heads on it.. So its brand new on the card and we cant find it.. we will of course avfter we have brought a new one lol.
Will get a couple of things from the supermarket then home.

Id like to get in the garden but its soo windy out there. And I certainly dont want to get a chill.

Slow on the crochet front, not intentional just trying to smarten the house up a bit.

HAve a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, a better day yesterday at the craft market (well not hard to be better than a day selling absolutely nothing) but I was reasonably pleased yesterday. I had made four owl totes, 3 like the one I put the pic up of (except I managed to make one of them upside down with the owls hanging from the branches instead of perching on them), and another in navy with bigger owls. Didn't sell any of them. Sold a wee baby blanket, didn't get much more than the value of the wool but at least it's gone and I got something for it. The husband asked would I take ozzie dollars, I said "I'll take lire, pesos, rupees, anything you care to pay with". He laughed.

I was absolutely amazed. There was this old lady there, she had necklaces made from paper beads, bags of paper beads she was selling and she sat all day making paper beads. They are awesome. She cuts strips of paper out of magazines or the likes of real estate pamphlets, the pamphlet on the flag referendum etc and uses mod podge. I had a chat to her and we discovered we are both from Sussex in the UK. She reached up and put her arm round me and said "we Sussexites should gang up on the kiwis!" all in good fun. She is a tiny wee thing, anyway I said that I didn't know how old she was but that she's obviously a year or two older than me and I hope I'm still crafting at her age. She said she has a birthday soon, then 3 more and she will get a telegram from the Queen!!!! So she's 96 and still doing the markets and what's more, driving some 60km to get to it.

Was going to cook a bbq when I got home but it was too windy and I didn't fancy bbqd sausage and crab apple blossom, so cooked in the kitchen.

Too windy to go to the boat today so I will mow the lawns instead, and maybe this afternoon have a tidy up.

Have an awesome day everyone.

Afternoon
Had a lovely time with my young visitors, absolutely no trouble at all. They kindly let me get McDonalds for dinner lol - I very seldom have takeaways so we had a vote on what type and McDs won.

Did manage to get some knitting done, was making a baby's top which usually takes just on one ball of wool but this time wool ran out with about 1cm of a front still to do, so back to woolshop tomorrow, have started a baby cape now.

Been a coldish damp day which isn't so pleasant but good for inside.

jayemtoo - 2016-10-30 17:04:00
10663

Lol was nice of the Youngens to Let you get take aways Jayemtoo lol..

Ive had a "different" day to what I planned.

We went up to the recycle centre shop, and I was reaching to get a framed print of a meerkat (MrP loves Meerkats) and the picture that I didnt see behind it fell forward and knocked a couple of very nice whiskey decanters off... what a smash cos they were above my eye level.
A bit obviously cut me cos my blood started pouring out .. so team got together, one put me in a seat and got the first aid box and tended to my wound. another got the brush and shovel and then mop to mop up my blood... lol..
And it that wasnt bad enough, yet painless, the chair I was in was soo low that as I stood up Ive pinched a nerve or done something to my left hip.

MrP has a drs appointment in the morning and if things dont change Ill be in triage while we are down there. I can barely walk.

So I sat for the rest of the day and have done the bottom part or the blankets for MrP's wheelchair.

The best part of the day , was this morning tho. I got an order for 4 yes 4 granny square blankets. Im absolutely stoked. MrP said what if she changes her mind,. I said Ill only be making one at a time and if she reneges on the first I wont be making the others... and it will sell anyway.

So Ill be doing ALOT of squares over summer, which is good really.. Nothing sitting in my lap.

Has been sunny here all day but a very cold wind. I had my long sleeved cardy on.. so that tells you how cold it was lol.

Hope everyone has had a fab day

morning ladies :) Hope you are feeling better today popeye, how damed annoying not being able to move about. Four blankets! Wow, that's a great order and just in time for Christmas too.

96 years old and still crafting, I should be so lucky, kuaka. Good on her! Sounds like you may have sold your navy tote bag too!

Aren't the young ones generous to let you pay jayemtoo lol. Gotta love them!

I want to get back outside today. MrK and I had a bit of a disagreement yesterday about a tree so I need to rethink how I approach it again. There must be a way we can compromise on this, he wants it to stay, I want it to go. Because he's older than me and his health is up and down, I'm trying to make the garden manageable for me. And this shrub/tree thing isn't manageable. Oh well, will think of something.

Am halfway through the embroidery. At this rate it will be finished this week so will need to think of something else to do. A few months ago one of our students gave me some thimbles his mum had made. They are rings and slip over your thumb or finger. I used one for the first time and omg they are brilliant! Leaves my finger tips free to stitch but I have it there to push the needle through. Love them!

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
Surprisingly I had a good night.. I put a tripillow in the bed to rest my leg on.
Its sore again now from movement.. I think its like Ive torn the tendons or something. Cos sitting its fine, its when I move that it hurts. And its already got "tighter" since Ive been up.

Try reverse phsycology Kiwimade, tell MrK that if he wont cut it down you will pay someone who will. You wont be able to look after it by yourself..

Would Love to see the thimbles Kiwimade, they sounds different but very usefull.

This yarn that I used to make the cover for the bottom of MrPs wheelchair is practically unable to sew ends in.. I can get the needle through it. So we have decided to buy him a couple of colourfull beach towels instead. will be easily cleaned that way too.

FB was Bad yesterday.. did any of you see the crochet cushion cover and how it was joined over the cushion like an envelope.. Im going to do that in my red and white to go with my blanket.. And then someone had crochet a tea towel. I need to find it and have a better look.. It make sense tho, everyone uses cotton to make dishclothes so it would work for tea towels, and they would last longer too.

So with the blanket orders, Ill say my year will be busy lol.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies, was very tired last night, I mowed two of the lawns (had to assemble the new mower first - that was a job for someone with 6 hands!) and then I did round the edges of one of the lawns with the weedeater and then did the upper lawn with it. Didn't have enough oomph left in me to do the side of the driveway and the lower lawn, but I did clean some more of the deck ready for staining - that's an ongoing job. I can't do it all in one hit. So it was about 4pm before I had my shower.

I sat in the sun in the armchair in the corner of the bedroom and knitted for a while with puss on my lap - it was too windy to sit out on the deck, then I fell asleep straight after tea, so at 9pm I was tucked up in bed. As a result I was awake at 3.30 this morning.

Op shop this morning so I had better get organised.

Have a super day everyone.

been out and weeded along the roadside, almost finished but decided a cuppa had been earned.

Sounds like you needed my thimbles popeye, they are thick rings beautifully embroidered in very fine cotton, not sure what they are made of, but it is thick, soft and spongy, perfect for pushing the eye of a needle. Will take a pic and post it as soon as I can.

I saw that cushion cover and it was one of those 'why-didn't-I-think-of-
-that' moments. So obvious when you see it! I was thinking it just doesn't have to be granny squares, any square pattern would work.

Better call in MrK, the kettle has boiled.

Morning Ladies, busy weekend Saturday I went off to Book Art for the day over in Havelock North. The met up once a month. Did a demo for the ladies on how to make silk paper.Four of the ladies got together a bit later and had a go at making some silk paper. It's something I like and look forward to .
Just phoned Mr S once and got told off from my friend.

Not a good start on Sunday morning. I had stayed up to watch a film,so was tired and going to have a sleep in. Around 8 I heard noise from the kitchen, I was out of bed and run down the passage to the kitchen Mr S was just thinking how he was going to get up from the floor. He was ok one leg is not looking too great a blueish by early evening.
Bless him, he had made a cuppa for me and set the table for b/fast. Later in the day he laid down on the bed and had a good sleep as he wakes a lot during the night.
I was outside most of the day finishing off a pebble garden. Like kiwimade, I am doing so it easier for me
later.
Had to go up the road for a couple of things,so I suggested we have a takeaway for tea. So I got us some fish and chips and went on down to the beach. It was a cool way to end a busy weekend.

Popeye ,take care of yourself and hope the doctor can do something for you.
Love the cloth kiwimade,it looks great.
Glad you enjoyed the market on Saturday. Kuaku. Sounds like you have a new friend at the market now. Good on you.
I am off to hang out some washing.
Enjoy your day everyone!

We are finally home.

Our dr is lovely and she has finally seen MrP's volcanic shakes.. She is sending him to some people who work with the elderly and try and figure out what they can do for him. I told her I measure his valcanic shakes on the richtor scale. Todays was a 3.5 but hes had them at 7.1 before, when they are hard to stop.
She said Ive torn tendons around the hip. Not alot can be done other than med pains and moving it around. Have to admit the other one is complaining lol from beingover used I guess lol. And the skin tag under my eye will have to become my beauty spot.. Too close to the eye to burn off.

She laughted when I said I need to ask a dr to see if I need to see a dr lol.

And she was stoked to hear MrP's surgery is finally being done.

Have to pop back up the road after Ive eaten cos MrP cant' pee on demand lol...

Has been a while since I last posted - everyone has been so busy. I hope all the "patients" are improving. Here are a few things that I have made for our upcoming Craft Fair at the village. Have to be careful not to do too much as so many of the ladies here are superb knitters and crocheters so I need to have a point of difference to sell my stuff!

Popeye, Oh Dear, you may have to have some home help for a while so you can take care of yourself. LoL about your new beauty spot.

My patient is very quiet today after his fall yesterday morning. In two mind about his seeing a Doctor. Our Doctors have a walk in clinic and just wait to see a nurse first. Very handy at times.

Must away from here and get a parcel wrapped to post to England. Can't wait to see what wool I will get in return.. It's a yarn swap.

Lovely knitting tinybaldone.. Im sure they will sell.

Have to admit Im sore. But I have a grumpy one here who doesnt think any pain I have is as bad as his.
Asked him to do the dishes so he just left them till I had to do them. Hes lucky he hasnt caught the edge of my tongue.. cos its not far away. Neither are the tears for the pain either.

I have a bowl of lolly pops sitting her waiting for halloween callers, so just a bit longer of moving about.
Then we will watch Jon Bonnet (SP)

morning ladies :) Tinybaldone, what beautiful knitting. The recipients are very lucky. Have you tried knitting the booties by 'Autum Streets'? They are 'ugg boots' and they stay on baby's feet! Knitted in double knit too.

Hope the painkillers have kicked in popeye, and you stick to your guns with MrP. He can do the dishes. Do what I did with our weed whacker, left the garden edges for 6 weeks (yep, it was ugly lol) until MrK decided enough was enough and put the nylon in and did them.

It's the usual chores for me today, lawn needs mowing before the rain kicks in and I have to grocery shop. Washing is almost done so will hang that out shortly. Then I'll plod on with this embroidery.

Here's a pic of one of the thimbles I was writing about yesterday, it's a bit blurry but you get the drift. I grabbed the Furry One by the collar yesterday (to stop him running through the gate grrr) and realised his collar was made out of the same soft stuff as my thimble. It sits on my thumb knuckle and I use my knuckle to push the needle through the fabric. Hasn't taken long to get used to it as it is very light. It certainly has sped up my stitching and no sore fingers.

Morning ladies, busy morning at the op shop yesterday, then I came home and cleaned some more of the deck ready for staining. Could have been doing that this morning (or going out to the boat but there's a fog rolling in so that's a no go) and it has rained during the night so the deck is all wet. Might tidy up the sewing room instead. I've decided to sell my big Bernina which I never use but the table top of it is cluttered with "stuff" which I will need to find homes for. No idea where I will put it all.

Didn't do any knitting last night, had a long phone call from my sister just as I was dozing off, and then I went to bed afterwards. I seem to be continually tired these days. I went to the club last night for the membership draw, it was $600 yesterday and I didn't win, so will go again next week in the hope of winning $700 (it goes up $100 a week). Had three frames of snooker, and as usually played a couple of really good shots but mostly not very good ones. My partner agreed that we should proceed to the next round - which turns out is the final - so we now have to wait for the players on the other side of the draw to play and then we have a game to play to decide the winner. I don't particularly fancy our chances regardless of who wins the match on the other side of the draw, but you never know.

Suppose I should get on and do something useful. If the fog clears again I just may go out to the boat. It is overdue for a motor-run.

Well done on the blanket orders popeye. That will keep you busy, and I'm sure the extra $$$ won't go astray.

Have a super day everyone.

yes i have stuck to my guns re the dishes. They are still there, I told him they have to be done this morning so I get room to prep tea. and I want to get the ingredietns ready to make a cake in the morning for the ladies at the Junktion, which Ill take up on thursday.

I was soo sore last night after getting up and down soo much for the kids halloween.. MrP knew i was sore cos I kinda shut down and wasnt talking.
Didnt even read last night.

This morning its There, have had pills and they are working.. I expect as I move about more it will hurt some more, but compaire to yesterday its bearable.

Ohh the thimble is cool Kiwimade.. very pracrtical to be on your thumb.

Id love to work either at the Junktion or the oppy here Kuaka, they are happy places to be.

I did the grand sum of one square yesterday. lol.. but I did a photo story of how to start a granny square for whiskey13.. So Ill get that into an email for her too. Not easy to take photos of stictehs on the hook with one hand lol.

Morning all - had a very busy night last night ordering stuff online - looking this morning at how much I spent on very little really it's a big scary - but it won't be long and I will be on my own so ordered th special yarns to make some Mary Janes Tea room dolls -I have enough wool to start my own wool shop but she uses different fibres for the hair so I thought too bad if it is expensive but in the cold light of day hmmm- it doesn't sound so much in English pounds but the conversion to dollars bumped it up
A friend of mine has been inundated with orders for a very simple girls purse - it is like a daisy - she took some to a craft fair sold 10 and took orders for another 30 - I will ask her for the link as it may interest some of you -
Better get cracking - hospice nurse on her way - wow these ladies are amazing - will take the dog out for a walk while she is here - the dog just wants to come home and get back on the bed - very hard

Hospice nurses are amazing Gerry :) We couldn't have done without one with mum. *hugs to you* and don't feel guilty about spending the $$$$.

Gerry Im doing the same, re buying up while MrPis here. I know that when hes gone, money will be soo tight I better turn into a fish.. Ive been doing it for a few years, including linen etc etc.
Not sure who you order your stuff through, but if its deramore or Loveknitting you can change it so it works everything out in NZ dollars.. no frights that way.

Clouds coming here too Kiwimade, and its not terribly warm either..

I remembered I had a couple of squares over from the last blanket so up to 5 now lol.
Im trying Random again and funny enough the one I did yesterday was the same 3 colours of one of the two extras I had last time, except I used a fanwn instead of a white.. and thats a few months between too lol.

Ive booked to get our tyre tomorrow, on our way to MrPs appoinment. And will organise getting the radiator cleaned on friday..

A play on here and back to my hook

gerry64, make use of the hospice nurses as much as you can, the ones Mr K had were marvellous, although I suspect if they had had their way and he had stayed home right till the end, the end would have lingered on quite a lot longer. The hospital just pumped more and more morphine into him until it was all over in a few days, well from Tuesday night till the early hours of Saturday morning.

I'd be quite interested in the link for those daisy purses, if you wouldn't mind putting up the link.

Just going to have a coffee and something to eat, then zap to town on my way to mah jong. I've just rowed out to the boat and back so I could run the motor. What a mess the inside was. Somehow or other a pesky bird had got in, there was bird poo everywhere, it must have managed to get out again though as I didn't find a dead body.

Gotta go.

Morning
All the best for Mr P today.
Enjoy your yarns Gerry, handcrafts can be such a relaxing diversion so worth every cent.

Yesterday decided I needed an afternoon at home after Mainly Music in the am. Did the washing when I got home and although not out until about 1pm it got beautifully dry even the heavy jeans.
There is a recycle day on Saturday - you can take all your junk to a local park and people can take what they like for a dollar or two. So I tidied up the garage and have a bit ready to take - will keep my eyes averted so won't see anything to bring back lol.

Finished main part of the cape and now have the hood to do, hopefully can start that this evening.
Sorted out my cross stitch and found several which need framing - that is so expensive so think I might see if I can do it myself, at least for the smaller one. Will think about it.

Have a good day

morning ladies :) Those daisy purses sound interesting, would like to see them too if possible.

Thinking of you and MrP today, popeye.

Framing is so expensive isn't jayemtoo. Even with me lacing my own onto boards the frames cost an arm and a leg. I find some nice frames at op shops and have recycled frames from old faded prints or pictures we don't want anymore. I take the frame in and ask for the matt border and for the framer to put it all together. And MrK is starting to make frames too so there are ways to cut down the cost. The problem with me is I spot the lovely frames the framers have lol.

Better get moving, I have a dentist appointment today to replace a filling.

Happy knitting :)

Monring everyone.

Thank you for the thoughts for MrP. Can't believe its finally happening.

Your soo right Kuaka about the morphine.. Three in my family were given extra morphine. It helps slow the organs down till they just stop.. But soo much better than seeing them in pain right to their last breathe. And they say theres no euthenaisa in our country...

Ended up having 9 squares done last night, have the ends of two to sew in. Ill sort some wool out to take with me. I dont think walking around on concrete floors will help my hip in any way, so Ill sit and crochet instead.

Was up early to make the cake for the girls at the Junktion, who looked after me soo well. will ice it tonight and take up in the morning.

Good luck with the dentist Kiwimade.. Im soo pleased I dont have to see them anymore.

We have a framer here in town, who are quite reasonable from what Ive heard.
I have a cross stitch kit that Ive not been able to part with. Its of lovely Bamboo.. Ill get someone to do it for me oneday.

Have a fab day everyone.

Morning ladies, yes popeye, and Mr Ks mother suffered the same fate re the morphine, but I agree, it's better than having them linger on and suffering, and Mr K was really suffering towards the end, it was awful to watch.

I plan an easier day today than I had yesterday. Knit and natter, followed by lunch with the "bunny club" (not what you're all thinking - named after a lady called Bunny who decided that us widows should get together once a month and go somewhere for lunch). Then if it isn't raining and the deck has dried I might put some stain on the deck, otherwise I may tackle tidying up the sewing room a bit. See how I feel after lunch.

Mr K made a big frame for a wall hanging which hangs in the snooker room downstairs. He was going to do one for the family room, but it never got done. Pity. I know I won't be able to afford to get it done professionally as it's so big.

gerry - just curious about these daisy purses, as you didn't say whether they are knitted, crocheted or sewn, nor how much your friend sells them for, but I'm very interested.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning all - terrible night but every now and again the sun pops out and streams in the bedroom so that's good. Oldest son has arrived from Dunedin so that's lovely - opened the mail yesterday the photos have taken 9 months to arrive from the last iron man my old boy ran in Canada - unbelievable - we are just all thankful he didn't wait until he retired to do all the things he wanted to do - well not all - he only retired 12 months ago -
Just had a knock at the door beautiful peony roses from a couple he helped 40 years ago it must be -

The purse is littlemonkeys crochet wildflower purse - she took a lot of my scraps of cotton and they sold like hot cakes - others she has used acrylic -

morning ladies :) I think it will be a phone call back to the dentist this morning as this tooth hurts more now than it did before.

Dad and I are shopping for his garden today and I'll plant out what he buys. I'll take our sprayer and spray his driveway as well.

Almost finished my MIL's embroidery. It wasn't hard, just awkward because of it's size. A good evening's 'session' will do the trick and then I'll sew the lace on it and it needs a good wash from sitting so long in a cupboard. Amazing how fabric and wool get 'grubby' just sitting.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Ouch Kiwimade hope the tooth settles quickly.

I checked out the daisy purse it is very cute almost makes me want to crochet!

Finished the cape and little vest and started a puerperium cardy but realise I haven't brought enough wool so it will be back to the shop yet again, my fault this time.

Have a good day Everyone

Morning everyone
All went well with MrP. the Surgeon said it was tricky once they got in. And hes only seen one other like it out of all the thoussands he has done.
They decided before hand that they would keep him in overnight, since he was the last appointment of the day. we took a bag, but didnt take his medication, and they didnt have his insulin.. they were going to figure something out.
He was comfortable, had no pain.
It was about 7-30pm when I got home, cos I had rush hour traffic then an accident that closed the road.
Needless to say I was sore and tired.

But I go to get him this morning, after Ive confirmed he is coming home.

I did duck out to spotlight, and got some cotton to crochet some tea towels. I have no idea how far it goes etc so hope I have enough. and i got some pretty sparkly christmas coloured yarns, only $2 a ball.

Would love to see the embroidery when finished Kiwimade.

Oops Jayemtoo, annoying if you run out of yarn eh

HAve a fab day all.. Im going to leave the shopping until tomorrow

Morning ladies, oh how frustrating popeye. Not knowing is the worst, at least if you know he's coming home later today, or even tomorrow, you can get on with your day until you have to go and get him. Great that he's had the op though.

Had a good day yesterday, knit and natter followed by a yummy lunch, then came home and put a coat of stain on quite a large portion of the deck which I had cleaned a couple of days ago. Just about finished the first section, which is the biggest part of it. Still quite a lot to do though, so will keep plodding on with it as and when I feel like it.

Had an email yesterday from Trevor the terror telling me that he has located some spade handles for $10 each and was I interested in one (because I looked at spades in Bunnings when he was buying potting mix instead of compost to save a $ or two). Replied that I'm not in the least bit interested in a handle when I don't have anyone to fit it for me and I need a spade now, not at some distant time in the future. If he thought I was going to drive all the way to Whangarei to buy a cheap handle for my old spade and then wait till Paul's next visit some time next year maybe for him to fit it, he must have rocks in his head. Course he might have been thinking that he could come and fit it but that is not an option as far as I'm concerned, so looks like I have to schedule a trip to Kerikeri for a spade before too much longer. He is starting to do my head in.

Now to decide what to do with the rest of the day. I'm sure I'll find something, that sewing room still needs attacking and the family room looks like a bomb hit it, so I had better make a start.

Have a super day everyone.

We are home.. Got the call at 2pmish.

Hes feeling a little sore, which is not surprising. But is glad to be home with his baby too.
A change too, cos yesterday he could barely stand let alone put his feet up on the foot rests of the wheelchair but today hes doing ok.

Im tired sore and hot so wont be doing much tonight, other than tending to his requirements.
Ill do the shopping tomorrow

morning ladies :) Good to hear mrP is home popeye, I think you recover quicker when home.

lmao kuaka, he's trying hard to get you to visit again, too funny.

I finished the embroidery last evening and the lace is pinned to the cloth. I'm debating whether to hand stitch it on or get my sewing machine out. I suspect my sewing machine will win out. When it is all washed and ironed I'll take a pic and post it. Quite satisfying to have finished for MIL and MrK.

happy knitting :)

Morning
Good that Mr P home and on the mend.
Had to smile Kuaka at the spade handle story - bit different to the more usual flowers or chocolates hehe.

Thinking of getting bus to Hastings as have a few things I want to get and this ensures that I will get a walk as well and stops me from getting carried away buying big things. Mind you it hasn't been unknown for me to get home and take the car back to buy what I had seen so not a completely fool proof method lol. Will also need to go to supermarket at some stage and that will need the car.

Happily plodding on with knitting small girl coloured items nice and relaxing.

Have a good day

Morning everyone.
MrP is alot stronger this morning, and was pleased to sleep in his own bed. Sitting there watching his car channel on tv lol...
Im still sore but the codiene has taken the sharp edges of the pain off.. Its the slight inclines that get me.

Have to pop up to the lab and do my INR, and get some groceries. Its going to hose down shortly too.

Didnt do any crochet yesterday. but will get some done today.. Good that the lady isnt in any rush lol.

How far is it from where you are to hastings Jayemtoo?

We have a new bus service which at the most will last 6 months i reckon. They dont have enough bus stops to the edges of town, so you still have to get into the centre of town to get the bus.. not practical for the oldies or infirm.

It will be lovely to have the cloth finished Kiwimade. I have a few things or Mrp's mums. not clothes but I have her three tier sewing box, her old harper scales. A few other kitchen things. And some of her jewellery too. I was very lucky. but Id have loved to meet her.

Kuaka maybe you have told the Terror that you have "George" put a handle in the spade for you.. Start mentioning another man, that might work. lol

Right need to do a few things on here then Ill get up the road.

Have a fab day everyone

Hi Popeye -
I'm in Napier so its about 15 kms, takes about 15mins by car, depending on time of day and traffic, but ½ hour on the bus but a pleasant trip and with a gold card it is free.

Hi Ladies ,It overcast here this morning. I attacked the front garden at just after 7 this morning. Been busy getting the veggie garden cleaned up and planted. The bin gets collected today around lunch time and is only just half full, now full to the top and out on the side of the road.

Tried to start my cotton wrap last night and it did not go well. 8 ply
knitted on 6.mm,will try again today with 5,mm needles. Fingers
crossed..it works.

Slowly getting my odd balls of wool knitted up. Next cushion cover I do will knit it in strips as I am going to have a lot sewing with this one. They are for the car.

Mr S is still in bed, did not sleep at all well night. Has 2 nights in hospital next week for tests etc. We planned it so we did not have to travel back and forwards all the time. Also I get a mini break to do what I want to do.
Yes, ladies I did pull a few strings for it to happen.

Kuaku ,I have to smile over the handle. I am pleased you are keeping busy and getting out and about.

Well coffee break over back to the potting up of some cuttings and that me for the day.
Everyone enjoy your day.

Morning ladies, maybe I should mention free bus rides to Trevor the terror and he might just sell up and move - wishful thinking I guess, but as one old lady at mahjong said recently of her second husband "he was so mean and it's such an unattractive trait in a man!" She went on to tell us that she was 50 when her first husband died and she looked at all the lonely empty years stretching ahead of her and married the first man that showed any interest in her. She said it was the biggest mistake of her life and she would have been far better off on her own. She's 90 next month.

Didn't do any knitting last night, went to a street party committee meeting which was really a waste of time as the host had music on so loud we couldn't hear what was being said, and it just degenerated into a party. So although quite pleasant we didn't achieve anything.

Going to have a lazy day today, well lazy morning - what's left of it - and then a funeral this afternoon. Only going to the church, not looking forward to it.

I've downloaded the pattern for those daisy purses that gerry mentioned, hope to make one over the weekend - see how long it takes and then I can decide whether or not to make more for the market and how much to charge for them. I think to sell them, they would need to be fairly cheap. I wonder how much gerry's friend was selling them for.

popeye, that's a good idea about another man, maybe I'll just invent one and next time he wants to come and visit I'll just say that I have a new man in my life and that should stop him in his tracks. I wouldn't mind but he is so mean, he must live quite a miserable existence always worrying about how to save a few cents on everything. He said he would provide the lunch when we went on the cruise (tea and coffee were available on the boat but no food) and while everyone else was tucking in to yummy looking pieces of bacon and egg pie, or tasty looking bread rolls with ham and salad or beef and salad, I had a choice of a cheese and pickle sandwich or a pate sandwich. We followed that (I chose the cheese, didn't fancy pate between two pieces of bread) with a muesli bar and a chocolate biscuit (one each) and he'd also put half a dozen chips and "shapes" crackers in a little plastic bag and they were all crunched up together. When we got back to the car he had a flask of hot water and some packet soups, or tea, coffee, sugar and powdered milk all in sachets as though they'd come from a motel. Can't imagine he would ever stay at a motel, it would cost too much.

Anyway I suppose I had better go and do some tidying up in the sewing room as I didn't get that far yesterday.

Have a super day everyone.
