I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning everyone
I agree with Kiwimade Kuaka, you have to be there just in case eh.

Ohh nooo Kiwimade, sometimes I feel like that, you keep undoing things. but being a stubborn Bull, and i know you are too, we dont like to see things unfinished so stick with them. You will love it when its done.

I look at my gardens and think, Yeah -Nah lol...

Have to go up the road this morning, Im going to get extra eggs and flour cos I really feel the need to bake. But pain wise it wont happen today. but I can be prepared for when I can. Its not the enjoyment of the baking thats done, its the actual process .. Ive always loved baking.

Finally did some crochet last night..

Have a fab day everyone

Morning ladies, yes that is very frustrating kiwimade but as I've said before at least with crochet there is only one stitch to be picked up, not like knitting something circular and having to pick up hundreds of stitches (I have done that occasionally).

It's looking as though it's going to get damp here soon, actually looks like we might have fog soon, the sun is very watery and the sky very overcast. Think I will have a tidy up and then do some sewing and make the most of my "no cook" day.

Have a super day everyone despite the weather.

Just about to go to bed, but in case I don't have time in the morning, I just wanted you to see this:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/519694784.jpg

Finally I have finished the last chair. I was waiting till I could borrow some long clamps to glue and clamp the 6th chair back together but a builder-friend called on Friday and I asked him if he had any long clamps I could borrow for a couple of days. He asked what I wanted them for and when I pointed at the chair in two pieces, he picked it up and took it away. Found it on the doorstep this morning all fixed. So I thought I had better get on and finish the job. Really pleased with the result even though it's not perfect.

Course I really should have sanded all the wood down and re-varnished or oiled it, but maybe next time - if there is a next time.

Night all.

Morning
The chairs look wonderful Kuaka, what a great job you have done.

Nice day here after a very patchy day yesterday, every time I wanted to go outdoors it rained then stopped once I had decided to take the car or just not go out, frustrating finally just wrapped up well and went for a good walk anyway.
Had a downpipe under the sink give way a couple of days ago, tried to screw it together again but my hands just a bit too small and not strong enough, fortunately Sister and BiL popped in yesterday so got him to screw it together for me and now able to use kitchen sink again instead of a basin which had to be emptied into the laundry!

Made a baby vest yesterday and onto another one. Have several balls of teal/purple variegated wool I brought a while back and changed my mind as to what to do with it so will make little things for charity to use it up.

Have a great day

morning ladies :) The chairs look great kuaka, well done! Love your choice of fabric too. And you can tick that job of your 'list'.

The garden is all weeded (for now lol) and I potted up some pots in the rain. Was just over the rain and of course, when I finished the pots, it stopped raining. It's going to be overcast today so I have a couple of smallish jobs to do outside which I'll get done.

We find out the date of our grandson's grand entrance tomorrow so we will be able to plan a bit more. The Furry One needs his vaccination update and more medication to take with him for his 'holiday' with dad.

Still picking away at this cloth as well as knitting a few baby beanies to take with us to the maternity hospital.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Love your chairs Kuaka.. Id love to do ours, and its only the seat part. They are green which I like, but stained and covered in cat fur. I dont think Ill get around to it tho, cos if anything happens to MrP I wont keep the set anyway. Its miles to big for one.

My pain has slightly eased away from the hps and just in the spine.. so I will be able to stand long enough to cut MrPs hair this morning.

Did a few rows on the crochet yesterday, but Im certainly more relaxed about this one cos its not an order.

Overcast here, but that suits me.. A bit cooler too.

Morning Everyone from The Bay. Very wet weekend and windy. Did some flower gardening on Saturday while it was fine for an hour or so.Was hoping to pot up the plants that are waiting for their new home. Maybe I'll give it ago today in the shed, once wash is dried in there.
Clearing away things in the other bedroom and one of us will go into it. Don't want to use our guest room as we have friends drop in for a night or so. Have to do something as my body is running out of gas.LOL
The chairs look great, hope the owner is going to be pleased Kuaku.

Since I've been sitting here the sun is slowly coming out. Hope it stays out as our lawn and gardens may start to dry out.

Have my knitting in a bag beside my chair wanting to come out,for the last few days. I look at it and put it back into the bag. errrr.

Have a Great Day Everyone

Sunflowers, they are my chairs, I bought the table and chairs on Trademe just before my trip to Australia as its more casual than the one I had, which looked lovely when we had it in a separate dining room in our previous home but has always looked far too formal in the open plan kitchen/dining/family room which I have now.

What a beautiful day we have. Sun is shining but theres a little wind.

I was really good until I stood up wrong with missy being in the way and have tweaked my back... Id been feeling rather good..

So isntead of playing on the computer far too long yesterday I plan to crochet.

Hope everyone is well

morning ladies :) Was in the classroom yesterday with the littlies so was very busy. We've had news our daughter will be induced next Wednesday so not long to wait now until we meet our new grandson. Am on a beanie knitting frenzy so I have a pile to take with us to donate. Our daughter has already taken a dozen or so for me and given them to her midwife. Think I can almost knit them in my sleep lol. I'm using the 4ply I dyed, hopefully mums don't mind the brighter blues and red.

It's another overcast day today so if I can get outside for a bit today, I will weed another garden, never ending this time of the year. The wheelie bins have been emptied so I can at least pick up the piles of weeds I made the other day.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone from a warm wet Waiuku.. its humid with the nor westerlies.
But it does mean we can have the front windows open without being blown to the back walls.

Great news re your grandboy Kiwimade.. lovely idea making the beanies. If I was knitting something plain i used to sit and knit with my eyes closed lol.. Can nearly do it with crochet.

My wool arrived from Love knitting yesterday. 4.5 days since I ordered it. and it had been delivered to someone else cos a lady came and put it in the mailbox.
I couldnt decide which colourway to go with so I put it in groups on fb. and nearly everyone chose the cream, which was my frist thought. Havent looked this morning.

So ill be working hard on the one Im doing now, cos I dont like having two WIPs.

Back is much improved so im going to get into my pot covered. I used to do alot of catering and have far too many pots now. so I'll be having a thin out.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning
How exciting Kiwimade that you know the date, the beanies will be unique, i use up the left over sock wool I dye for beanies too, some have certainly been a bit "different" but still keep a small head warm.

That certainly is good service Popeye.

At last got around to taking photo of blankets, they are both single bed size with a good coverage, okay for the spare room beds.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/520393571.jpg

Still using up the left over wool but will need to get a bit more of a couple of the colours to finish off a little jersey I have started and my yarn chicken missed out!

Have a good day all.

Wow jayemtoo, those blankets are awesome, as Popeye says, a lot of work there.

It has suddenly turned to summer, 22 deg in town, wonder how long it will last. Went to knit and natter this morning, so that was the morning stuffed as I didn't sleep until after 3am but slept in till 9, so this afternoon I'm going to try to get a few things done outside and then maybe later on do some sewing, knitting can wait till this evening.

Hope everyone is enjoying the better weather (assuming you have better weather).

Awesome news about your grandson kiwimade. Bet you can't wait now.

Enjoy the rest of your day

morning ladies :) WOW jayemtoo, they look amazing and I just love your colour choices.

The sun is out today just for a change so I can finally tidy up those piles of weeds I made. The Furry One goes back to the vet for his booster jab, better find his 'Plunket' book to record it in. And I need to phone a school as I haven't been paid for working six weeks ago. So frustrating, been phoning every pay round and no money. And no, it's not Novapay, it's the office people.

I knitted another beanie last night and must admit, I do like the blue I dyed, have enough to do half a beanie with the leftovers so will add some cream and knit stripes.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Ohh frustrating when they muck up your pay..

Its fine here, with huge dark clouds too. I hope it stays fine. Its calf club day at school today. It usually rains for them, but the kids have a ball anyway. will drop over the mini garden things from new world today. the kids from over the road never came and got them.

Didnt get alot of crochet done yesterday, I put some stuff on fb to sell and it kept me busy working out pick up etc. Have another coming today and one tomorrow.. I havent checked as yet to see if there is any more. but the cupboard are finally not looking like jam packed messes lol.

Shopping this morning, which is why Ive managed to get us up 30 minutes earlier.. LAst week it was 1pm when we got home.. rediculous lol.

Afternoon
Thanks ladies for your kind words.
Grrrr to the office people re your pay Kiwimade.

Have had a busy morning. Silly BiL broke an glass jar and stood on one of the shards a few days ago, they could feel the glass but not get it out and had to get the Dr to do it with a bit of local anaesthetic yesterday and foot has become a bit infected. So I went out to the factory on my own for a couple of hours then walked to get his antibiotics, delivered them, walked to library and bus home. Now feeling a bit dozy so will have a coffee break before deciding what to do next. Lovely day sure encourages me to get going.

Am having fun adapting the milo vest pattern to being front opening as another option for using up wool and easier to put on tiny babies, will see how it goes.

morning ladies :) We are so excited, our daughter is being induced right now. She had a phone call yesterday saying they want her in today as the doctors are striking next week and they don't want her going over 38 weeks. So now we wait lol. We will visit as soon as we are allowed to (visiting hours) and will decide if we are need to 'move into' their home next week to look after our granddaughter.

Too excited to knit! happy knitting :)

Ooooh exciting Kiwimade, hope the wait is not too long. Safe travels and all the best for daughter and little one.

Just getting going for the day - coffee and iPad time lol.

Finished a baby top last evening and started another looks like I will be doing several stripey ones or perhaps I can make beanies from the partnballs of wool.

Have a good day

Morning everyone

Great news re your Grandboy Kiwimade.. Do let us know how it all goes.

Jayemtoo , sounds like you need a quiet day.

We had a busy day yesterday.. Ive been trying to be strict and cut down the trips up the street.. and even stricter on the budget.. One week of doing so and it was good.

I was going to bake today. but MrP said we dont need it, I even offered shortbread which is his favourite.
So thats canned that idea.. its not even about the goodies at the end, its the actual act of doing it that I enjoy.

So Ill try and get this blanket im working on close to being finished. i spent an hour untangling wool yesterday which had gone under the spinning bit on a wool winder. And I only lost about 6 inches of yarn.. it was short in weight anyway, so hopefully Ill get it close to the size I want.

Have a huge load of towels in the wash and will hang them on the half mast lines outside.. Its nice out there.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, in had a busy day yesterday, sewing then gardening then mowing lawns, and then a visit from a friend I. The afternoon, then just after 5 went up to one of the neighbours in the street above me for drinks and to meet some other neighbours. There was talk of a street Christmas party (I'm "legally" in the street as that is my legal address but my physical address is down on the main road) so I just might go along to the "committee" meeting on Tuesday and see what comes of it.

I have no water at the moment. My water meter got stuck a while ago, haven't had a water bill for a year. When I phoned the council they said that I'd already had an estimated bill and they could only send one, and I wouldn't get another bill till after the meter is replaced. It is being replaced right now.

Kiwimade, you must be very excited now, hope everything goes well and you soon have a healthy grandson.

Right, the water meter is installed and the water is back on, so I had better do the dishes.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Wow Kiwimade that is a good size for an early baby, good job she wasn't left to go to term. Enjoy your cuddles.

Niece had her baby in Venice on Thursday - another good sized boy although haven't heard many details yet, just a photo of big sister holding him looking a bit overwhelmed at what has arrived lol.

Lovely day here so will get outside soon and make the most of it. Then can relax with the knitting later with a clear conscience.
Have a great day Everyone.

Morning everyone

Congratulations to The Kiwimades.. Wow he certainly didnt need to be cooked any longer.. Cant wait for pics.

Its dark here,, big black clouds, feels odd sort of.

I finished the varigated blanket yesterday. Will do a photo later.. Its once again wider than longer so Im going to give it to Mrps great niece. Means she really can wrap abby when she arrives, and then turn it and it will be good in a cot. it covers my legs etc well.

Going to start the Yellows blanket today.. And Im going to weigh it right through so I know for sure how much yarn each colour bolck takes.. Then I wont have to play yarn chicken when it gets bigger. Its a bit of an OCD with me, I like to know rather than guess..

Have a fab day everyone

Afternoon ladies, congratulations kiwimade, I bet you are absolutely stoked! I had a busy morning at the op shop today, as we were putting all the winter stuff out at half price and starting to put summer stuff on the racks instead.

Just had lunch and I'm about to go and do some gardening - I will have to dodge the showers which seem to just keep coming through. It's not particularly warm today, the wind is cold, so I will wrap up warm and keep moving then later on I can relax knowing I've had a successful day.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) Big smiles all round here, our grandson is just gorgeous and we are all smitten. I had lots of cuddles and took a lovely black and white photo of MrK holding him (won't post that as he doesn't want his pics online). Daughter went home yesterday afternoon so we will call them later to see how their first night went. Granddaughter hasn't met her brother yet so that will be interesting lol.

Morning
Awwww he's gorgeous Kiwimade, just made for heaps of cuddles.

Our "lovely" day yesterday certainly changed early pm when we had an impressive thunder storm and it got quite cold, so my plans to get into the garden didn't eventuate. Looks nice out there now so perhaps will be able to do some weeding this pm instead.

Did quite a bit of knitting instead though so getting some small things into my bins, I like to have some baby things on hand for if needed and get a pile done for next winter to give to the 2 medical centres.

Have a great day

Morning everyone
Your grandboy is a handsome dude Kiwimade. Will he fit the clothes you made him for long? Being a big boy?

I have to pop up the street this morning, then come home and vaccum.

I started the yellow blanket yesterday. I like it.. Ive called it Sunburst
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/521361886.jpg

Its interesting weighing it after each block of colour. The wools are different weighrs ofcourse, but it will give me an idea of weights needed for future blankets.

Looks like we are in for more rain.

Have a fab day everyone

I knew he was going to be a good sized lad so I knitted 9 months sizing, it should see him through to next winter. I've been talking with our daughter, he slept five hours during the night, had a feed, straight back to sleep for another five hours. How good is that! Such a relief for her as our granddaughter was and still is pretty full on.

Well the lawnmower died, thanks to MrK fiddling with it the other day when he decided it wasn't running right. So it will need to be taken in for repairs Tuesday so no lawn mowing for me. So... what to do with that hour and a half I would have spent mowing lol. Time for a cuppa :)

Congratulations, Kiwimade - what a beautiful (not so little) baby!
Love the blanket Popeye - so cheerful. You really don't muck around once you get started, do you? Wish I could achieve that much work in one sitting. I've just finished knitting a toy bear - still have to sew and stuff him/her - looks a promising pattern with lots of shaping - will post pic when and if I get around to finishing it! Spent yesterday making cards - shortage of sympathy cards in the village at the moment. What can I say - living in a retirement village, sympathy cards are needed quite often! Also sold 6 cards on Thursday so need to make up my numbers there.
Happy crafting all

Thank you ladies :) Still grinning here lol.

awww tinybaldone, nice you sold some cards but sad for the reason why. Lovely to have handmade cards though for such a sad occasion, it makes it even more personal.

our daughter is home already raej2, she went home that afternoon! No mucking about with mums now, the proposed doctors strike next week sped things up a bit too. Our granddaughter was staying with her other grandma for the weekend so she is staying on until tomorrow. We will see them all together on Thursday when we visit :)

morning ladies :) Not sure what we are doing today but I do know that the lawn mower is going in for repairs thanks to MrK's tinkering. I need to buy a USB stick to put baby photos on so I can have them printed off on nice photo paper for Dad (and us lol).

I'm still knitting beanies, have a 100g ball of yarn I want to use up, thought I might get four beanies out of it but looks like I'll manage five and that's knitting the 'popcorn' stitch which uses lots of yarn. Will get back to crocheting my cloth too, it's been sitting around for too long and I want to have it finished and on the table.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, a very busy day yesterday after a late start (slept in the chair for two hours, woke with a stiff neck and was then wide awake at bedtime, so at 3am I took half a sleeping pill and didn't wake till nearly 10). Spent a lot of time gardening, and clearing up the section, getting a pile of rubbish ready to go to the tip. Had someone come to collect a ranch slider which I've sold (it's been paid for) but they took one look at it and said it wouldn't fit on the trailer and they will get a removal company to come and pick it up. Pleased they didn't want their money back. Will be good to have it gone, it's in the carport and every time I drive in I have to be so careful not to hit it. Mr K planned to make a greenhouse but that's never going to happen now.

Op shop this morning so I had better crack on and have breakfast. This morning I have to pick my friend up - her husband usually takes her (and often picks me up) but today he can't.

Might do some more gardening when I come home this afternoon, or if I don't feel like it, I will either sew or knit.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone,
Looks like it will be a nice day.. A bit of wind.

Been working away on the Sunburst blanket, and Im loving it.

Ive decided I'd like to get a batman blanket done for christmas. Thankfully a while back I did the weights and sizes of squares in the yarn I want to do. so just have to decide what size I want it.

I dont know if anyone of you saw a story a few weeks ago on 7sharp about Cameron, a little boy who was born with half a heart. it was his birthday and the fire engine arrived and 7 sharp organized a cake etc for him. Well I read the story about him in the herald a while back , how they were razing funds to get him a Co-ag checker, which is like a diabetes tester machine. but its for your INR (warfarin levels) but they are really expensive.
When I had my heart surgery they gave me a machine, but the test strips are really expensive. So I sent my machine to Cameron.

Well he loves super heros, If I dont get a buyer for the batman blanket, I have no doubt in the fact that Ill be sending it to him. lol Hes an adorable little boy.

Oops my ramblings.

Well I need to work out this pattern and order some wool.

Have a fab day all

Got a fair bit done on the sunburst blanket yesterday.

And I do have to say I got through the day with only having panadol twice.. no codiene at all.. Yayayayay.. Have had one this morning tho.

Here is the Batman pic

Morning ladies, well considering I was up just after 6 I suppose I should have had breakfast before now, but I haven't. I'm going to have it soon.

I've been busy sewing, and looking for some hammer-on snaps that I bought a while back. I actually forgot that I had bought them, and found them two or three weeks ago, and put them away somewhere safe ready for when I need them, well now I need them and can't find them. Grrrr! I will buy some more when I go to Whangarei on Thursday then I suppose I will find them again.

It would have been a good day to go out to the boat, but I didn't feel like it, and I'm out this afternoon and have a "committee meeting" this evening (to see what we can do about organising some sort of Christmas street party). Think that will be a get together at somebodies house rather than actually out in the street. Be interesting to see what we come up with.

So the plan for the rest of the morning is to put some stain on a bit more of the deck (the bit that I cleaned yesterday) and put clean sheets on the bed. That should see me through till lunchtime.

Have a super day everyone.

afternoon ladies :) It's been a very busy day supermarket shopping, calling in with baby photos for dad (that took a while lol) and then picking the lawnmower up this afternoon. I mowed out on the berm and instead of two catcher loads there was six! Amazing the difference a new blade makes.

Thank you for your good wishes sunflowers, I already have photos framed and on the sideboard lol. Our granddaughter isn't overly fussed about having a brother and is ignoring him. Wait till he gets into her 'stuff' lol.

Good on you popeye for giving your machine to that lad, these things are pretty expensive and sad families have to fundraise for them. Can't wait to see your batman blanket done.

And welcome back to the thread mndy1, nice to 'see' you again.

Might do some crochet, have the crockpot on for tomorrow as we are going to visit our daughter, used red wine, thyme, fresh bay leaves from the garden and a few other herbs. Smells divine. And I plan on polishing off the wine lol.

Happy knitting :)

Agree with Mindy 1000 % love popping in here every day for some lighthearted normality - things have become very bleak with my old boys health - twelve months ago he did is last ironman now he can not breathe on his own - one thing is for sure we are thankful we didn't wait until retirement to do many different things - getting maudlin will pop away

Ohh Nooo Kiwimade, re Maddy ignoring her brother... He might just have a tough big sister on his hands lol.

Gerry its not easy to see those we love not to be able to do what they used to. It does get easier, when we get used to seeing them this way, and it becomes the new Normal. Take care.

Have just had some lovely lamb chops for tea.. Ive been hanging on to them for as long as we could. I never thought we would ever "Not" be able to afford good olf kiwi lamb and beef. I know were not alone. but its disgusting really. We pay more than other countries who import our meat.

Had a text from a freind her landlords have given her notice to leave. Due to unforseen circumstances. I dont really know enough about the rules, but I kinda figured there would have to be a reason.. ill ask in the housing group on here.

Have a good night everyone

morning ladies :) ohh gerry64, you are very lucky you did things together. Life is too short to 'wait for retirement'. You never know what is around the corner. All the very best to you and your husband.

We're off to have more cuddles from our grandchildren - I love using the plural lol. I think our granddaughter was ignoring him as she had been missing mummy and daddy. When I phoned yesterday Michael was sleeping on his dad's lap and Maddy was curled up with mum for cuddles. It's quite the balancing act isn't it when a new baby arrives. Wasn't quite so bad for us as there is only 18 months between our two.

I managed another row on the cloth, nine rows to go! I won't be crocheting today or over the next few days as tomorrow onwards I'm working in dad's garden, might take a couple of good solid days to get it back to scratch. I knew I should have kept it up while he was away, oh well.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Enjoy your cuddles Kiwimade... safe travelling.

Sorry to hear that Gerry. Take care of you too.

Ive decided that we will just spray the gardens but this year Ill make sure Mrp keeps it sprayed like he was going to last year but didnt. Will get the lawn boys to take the dead stuff away.

Looking at the sunburst blanket Ive realised that its colour of daffodils. So I might make another one next year and give it to the daffodil day stall for a raffle. Its soo pretty. the camera doesnt do it any favours.

Will get more done today. Its getting to the point of needing to sit with it on the tray table in front of me. For size and the heat .

Have a fantastic day everyone

Travelling to Australia on Air New Zealand. Any advice on the knitting needles that will pass through security. Not keen on plastic but would get some if necessary, my usual ones are bamboo. Is circular a better option & more likely to get through? I know you good folk have knitted your way around the world and are the fount of all knowledge. My call to Air NZ resulted in a very hit and miss answer. The call taker thought plastic and bamboo would possibly be okay. Might have to think of a crochet project for the plane instead. TIA

No problem with knitting needles on Air NZ or Virgin Australia. Going over on Air NZ I put a life line in & had the work on plastic needles. I had a pair of bamboo needles I wouldn't be heart broken to lose in the bag but no problems. Virgin Australia are clear on their website that knitting needles & crochet hooks allowed but no scissors. Certainly helped to pass the time.
