Morning ladies, I bought another Westinghouse, it seemed to be the best value, and some of them had so many compartments in the freezer part that it would be difficult to get anything much bigger than a chook in them. I opted for the stainless steel look rather than white. Course when I got home I plugged the old one back in and it is going again, but the chap that called explained that the insulation gets wet and then ice builds up in the duct that allows the cold air from the freezer to get up into the fridge. Once that's blocked with ice the fridge stops working. Allow 48 hours unplugged and it completely defrosts and will work again, BUT the insulation stays wet and it happens again and again. No telling how long between it happening, he said sometimes it's only two or three weeks, sometimes a few months. If you're really lucky he said it might be a couple of years or so. He said the fridge is 15 years old. We bought it second hand about 3 years ago. I'm sick of second hand stuff, I deserve a new one. Don't think I've ever had a new fridge, always second hand.

Right, I'd better get myself ready for knit and natter. Have to go to the jewellers and pick up my mum's gold watch that I've had repaired. The quote for that was $210 so an expensive couple of days.

yes jayemtoo - I've done things like that before. I remember once walking down the road to the beach wearing a black plastic rubbish bag with holes cut for the arms and neck as it was raining so hard - we were living on the boat and had left our wet weather gear on board - as you do!

Yep I cant knit these days cos it aggravates a pinched nerve in my shoulder.. I'm soo pleased I can still crochet, even if it gives me hives if I go too fast lol.

MrP's diabetes eye check went well, they had to use the drops.. First time for him.. another test in two years.

Ive put all my bits of purple away, and sorted black and white wool out. So I'm ready for the new lot to arrive.

Have been making my Christmas tree ornament decorations for the swap this year. Thankfully they will go in normal envelope or Id have to pull out. 13ish parcels at $3 a pop is a bit too much for me. And I got stamps before the price went up so that's a bonus.

Managed to get in and out without getting wet which was good.

Right time to play here and then play with glue and beads again lol

Morning ladies, not sure what the weather is supposed to do today, but at the moment it's looking like a lovely day, sunny and no wind, but it was cooler when I first got up - so I put the heat pump on - hopefully I won't need it on for long. Thought I'd finished with it until next winter.

No plans for today, if it stays dry I might mow another bit of lawn, I have weeding to do, sewing to do, still have one chair to upholster but I can't clamp it back together as my clamps aren't long enough, and of course there's always knitting/crochet and boring old housework. Plenty to keep me busy just don't know what I will tackle today.

I do have to go and visit two friends and retrieve my frozen meat which I gave them to babysit on Tuesday.

I should have breakfast before I fade away.

morning ladies :) We have a Westinghouse fridge, it must be at least 20 years old as well. Bought new and no problems. And yes, kuaka, you deserve new. With warranties and stuff you will be good for years with it.

It is so soggy here, the rain hasn't let up for 48 hours and our creek has flooded. Only the second time in around 10 years it has flooded. There are fence posts covered in water down the road and we have lakes and ponds in new places. It's going to take weeks for it to drain away.

No crafting today, we're helping my sister-in-law move house so we need some fine breaks in the weather please!

Sunflower, I hope your mouth heals quickly and the dentist can help with the pain.

Morning
It's stopped raining yay! It's rather unusual to have so many days of constant rain here. It's been just too wet to go out to the factory for past 2 days although it was nice yesterday pm we had to let the track dry out a bit so off there this am.

School holidays so had a 8 & 10 yr old here yesterday pm while their mother had an appointment. My toys tend to be geared for little kids but one had the iPad and the other was glued to the computer. They live out in the country and don't have internet or even TV connection so make the most of it when in town.

Heading to Wellington tomorrow for a 3 and 5 yr old birthdays. Knitted a couple of tops, skirt and knickers for the doll and along with the little things I got from op shops she has quite a nice wee wardrobe.

Morning everyone.
Been having trouble getting onto the message board since yesterday.

We just had a heavy shower.. I dont need to go out for a few days so send your rain here, it wont bother me lol.

My wool arrived yesterday... All lovely and pretty. Tried to go back to my battlships blanket. But its Sunk.. three different brands of yarn and different hooks and I couldnt get the squares the same size.. so Ive put it away for now.
Got some pretty pinks in my order. So Im sure Ill fiind something to do with them. One of the ladies at ordered a purple blanket is thinking about something in Pink. so fingeres crossed.

Now know of three babies Due, Kiwimades grandie, My friend in Tauranga, 11 weeks and one of MrP's Great nieces who has 17 weeks to go.. Shes had a hard time with this pregnancy. And Only just announced it, although her Mum and I knew earlier lol So I might whip her up a wee blanket in the meantime.

I need something to do lol.. and it can go on hold if I get a paying job lol.

Morning ladies, a very late start for me today, I woke at 5 and went to the loo, decided it was too early to get up so went back to bed and woke again at 5 to 10 - oops! Have to set the alarm for tomorrow as I have a stall on the market and I need to be there by about 7.30.

I want to finish a couple of tea cosies, just sewing up and embroidering on them and sew together a couple of pairs of fingerless gloves, and should be able to get them done later, and I've got a crocheted owl tea cosy started and would like to progress that a bit further and can finish him off tomorrow at the market if necessary.

I have to go to town later, and I still need to mow one lawn, hopefully it is dry enough this afternoon, and I might start water-blasting the deck so I can put another coat of stain on it, normally I do it each spring but I didn't do it last year so it needs doing now. I don't mind doing it as it really improves the look of the place when it's done.

morning ladies :) We were so lucky weatherwise for the shift and came home knackered. Am a bit stiff physically this morning from all the lifting, that's OK, just proves I still have muscles lol. But I did do a wee mini raid on the garden before we left so have some small plants to put into the ground today. We're due heavy rain tomorrow so will get it done shortly and carry on weeding.

Will no doubt do some crafting this afternoon.

Off to Wellington for a couple of days as soon as I get organised. It looks like a reasonable day weather-wise at the moment which will make driving more pleasant. Cleaned the car yesterday and boy did it need it both inside and out, had to dig great layers of mud and grass from out of the wheel bases.
Good that the weather held for your shift Kiwimade.

Have put in my "travel" knitting - bit of 4ply to make beanies as easy to carry and doesn't need thinking while doing.

Made a good start on the Pink rainbow blanket yesterday. Using 4 colours, so will need 5 blocks of each.. but its very pretty. And will help the meat fund Yayayay.. I can taste that hogget now lol.

Goodmorning Ladies. As long as I keep taking painkillers and ab tabs I am ok. What happens it was a deep hole left after having the tooth out. It was under the top layer of skin that was not healing. Slow going ,but will get there.Thanks for asking.

Mr S is not good.He can hardly move around with his walker some days and not sleeping does not help. Back to the Doctors on Monday hoping, we get some answers.
Have got all the washing dry during the dry patches. Gave our spare bedroom a good clean up. Long overdue. Slowly getting my spring cleaning done. No N & K this week. Will do my best to go this coming Friday as its now 4 weeks since I have been.

Morning ladies, looks like it's going to be an indoors day today, forecast is for rain most of the day and it's started already. Have some sewing to do (for me) - new cushion covers, and the sewing room is well overdue for some tidying up so that should keep me out of mischief for several hours.

Have to go up and visit a friend and retrieve the frozen foods she's been babysitting so will probably stay for a coffee or wine depending on when I go.

Very quiet day on the market yesterday, made one sale (two velvet hats) to a lady who couldn't decide which colour to get, so her husband told her to get both, then he paid as she had no cash.

Another market on Wednesday, there's a space for me 'cos someone else can't make it, so fingers crossed - it's a cruise ship market so hoping the passengers are in a spending mood.

Morning from a wet but not windy Wellington.

Had a good trip down and nice family birthday for the children, actually was supposed to be the 3 yr olds as the 5 yr old has his next weekend but as most of us aren't coming back next week we gave him his presents too so everyone happy.

Now having a relaxed start to the day, niece who we are staying with is a Paediatric Registrar at Wellington Hospital and is working 7am to 7pm so not seeing much of her especially as they had an emergency last evening so she didn't get home till well after 9pm and back again this am. I fully support the young doctors having a bit more realistic work hours.

Have to pick up 8 yr old great nephew from airport this pm he's coming to have a few days holiday with me. A very chatty small boy so won't be boring trip home tomorrow.

I do hope you manage to get answers for MrS Sunflower and they can sort out what is ailing him.
Do hope you have better sales at next market Kuaka, they are so unpredictable aren't they?

Off to get a second coffee and can do a bit of knitting until the others get going.

yesterday I weeded about half of our garden and put in the new plants. I need more weedkiller to kill off this bears paw so I can put more topsoil into this part of the garden. I have plans for this garden lol.

Sadly the kiddies fort was way too big for our corner so we had to give it a miss. Even taking only a bit of it would have been too much. So back to a modified Plan A with MrK building my arbour but putting a swing seat in instead of a fixed one. So we will at least have a swing. Can't wait to start on that corner, have more plans lol... poor MrK, he won't know what struck him lol.

I have almost finished this cross stitch book mark I'm doing to fill in the time before I can get to Spotlight next week. Will be nice to actually finish something!

Housework today, our last lot of students for a month arrive next week so I want the house sparkling.

Travelling to Australia on Air New Zealand. Any advice on the knitting needles that will pass through security. Not keen on plastic but would get some if necessary, my usual ones are bamboo. Is circular a better option & more likely to get through? I know you good folk have knitted your way around the world and are the fount of all knowledge. My call to Air NZ resulted in a very hit and miss answer. The call taker thought plastic and bamboo would possibly be okay. Might have to think of a crochet project for the plane instead. TIA

I'm knitting beanies for babies to fill in the time until I can get to Spotlight tomorrow. Our daughter has taken a dozen or so to give to her maternity hospital so will like another pile to take with us when our grandson is born.

Morning ladies, nanasee1 - I went to Australia back in the winter, Virgin airlines on the way over and Emirates on the way back. Looking at their websites before I went Virgin said knitting needles and crochet hooks were allowed but Emirates said they weren't. So I took my needles and hooks with me in my handbag (I just had them sitting in the bottom with the knobs at opposite ends) on the way over and did some knitting and crochet and packed them in my checked in luggage on the way back and watched a good movie instead (The Dressmaker!) It does rather depend on airport security though. My only advice is to use the shortest needles you can, bamboo or plastic in preference to steel, and definitely don't take any that you would be upset about if they were confiscated. Maybe go to the op shop and pick up some real cheapies and if they are confiscated you're not going to be really p--d off. Also a good idea to take something that can easily be pulled off the needles and left if they do decide to take the needles (or don't start the project until you are on board)

The stupid part is that on Virgin they give you plastic cutlery to eat with and allow knitting needles and crochet hooks, on Emirates the knitting needles and crochet hooks are banned but they give you stainless steel cutlery!

I think the powers that be just don't realise how difficult it is for some of us to sit for hours on end with nothing to do with our hands.

Well yesterday the forecast was pretty right, rained most of the day, and then the sun came out. I did some sewing and spent several hours searching for 3 things, a bag full of miniature Christmas stockings, a metal stand thing to hang them from and a "handbag hook - or hanger". I found the first two but not the third. Oh well, two out of three ain't bad according to meatloaf. I sat out on the deck and knitted once the sun appeared, it was so hot, but I'm not complaining. Roll on summer.

I had better get organised, op shop this morning. I had a phone call yesterday asking can I do an extra shift this week, so I'm also doing Thursday morning.

We have sun but dark grey clouds too. And its certainly not cold. im dreading summer.a

I only have one and a half blocks of colour left on the pink blanket. And im doing the border in the "clematis" colour which is a mauve pink It will tie it all in nicely/ And I may have an order for a yellow single one too..

Im considering getting someone in to do my vacuuming. Im just soo sore these days. Ill give it another days thought. Knowing me and my little bit of Scottish Ill end up trying to do it myself lol.. rather than paying.

Good morning all. Haven't posted in a while - not been well. Had severe shortness of breath - took me 1.5 hrs to get up, shower and out to breakfast. Went to the drs, he nearly had a fit, and said he would see me again in a few days and NOT to come to the surgery, he would come to me! Also problems with nose bleeds - seems nothing is ever straightforward!
Popeye re your vacuuming - wouldn't you be eligible for home help? When MrT had his heart surgery we were offered (very magnanimously, I might add) 1 whole hour per fortnight home help, which was pretty useless, so I told them what I thought of that. Anyway, that's my experience, but you may have better luck. You can but ask.

Evening
Home again - however enjoyable a trip away is I do so prefer my own bed. 8yr old visitor is tucked up in bed and asleep, we have visited 2 playgrounds today to break up the longish (for him) drive back from Wellington.

Nanasee I have travelled with Cathay Pacific and AirNZ this year and taken knitting with me. I have an oldish wooden circular needle I use on the plane just in case they are confiscated and put my good ones in the check in bag. I just leave my knitting in my carry on and put it through the X-ray and no one has mentioned it so neither do I. I like the circular as they are short so don't feel I may poke anyone sitting beside me and agree about doing a fairly mindless thing while travelling.

What a pity about the fort Kiwimade but at least a swing will be something for the little ones.

Sorry no idea either Carolev with the hood but I haven't actually knitted one for ages.

Do take care Tinybaldone and look after yourself I do hope you are on the mend very soon.

Well I'm off to bed very soon as think there's another busy day tomorrow.

And yes Im going to see about getting homehelp.. I really only need it to do the floors and clean the shower. And that would take far less than a shower, for a fit person to do.

Ive got two rows left to do on the blanket. Im trying to decide how to finish the colours tho. Ill take photos later and see what all the crafters think on FB. As well as the future owner.

Have to pop up the road soon to send yarn lottos. Another of the ladies, the first winner lives here too se we have decided to share a bag and send together.

Morning ladies, a late start to the day, I dozed off in the chair last night for quite some time, woke with a stiff neck, then when it was bedtime I was wide awake and still awake at 4am, by which time it was too late to take a sleeping pill or I would have slept till lunchtime. As it was I slept till after 9. So now I must decide what to do with the morning, I'm thinking weedeating the grass at the side of the driveway and sweep the drive, and see if the old Safari will start as I haven't used the old bitch for a couple of weeks.

Then this afternoon is my afternoon out and I must come home and get organised for tomorrows market.

Morning Everyone. Rain again overnight and everything wet still,so no lawn mowing again today. Yesterday would have been a good day to have had them done.

Busy day yesterday a neighbour who had lived on our street for over 50 years passed away Saturday and her Funeral Service was yesterday.When we moved into our house 12 years ago she was over before we had unpacked with meat for that night. The last couple of years they have been in a rest home. Not many couples can say they have been married 73 years.

The sun just came out so fingers crossed I can get out into the garden as I have plants to go.

Been blanket stitching the blanket as they are due into town at the weekend.It coming along.

Yes 73 years married is a good record and these days living in the same house for 50 years is becoming very unusual too.

Having an 8yr old around is fun as well as using up energy. We spent yesterday morning out at the factory and he had a ball making the fibre (under very careful supervision) and getting absolutely filthy as just small boys can. Then he came swimming while we were at aquarobics and tried to wear out the water slides by the number of times he went down them. Needless to say it was a quick dinner when we got home, story and into bed with no grumbles - he was nearly asleep on his feet.

Having a quieter morning, been to supermarket and he is on computer while I do washing etc. After lunch we are going to visit some cousins out in the country so guess he will be on the go again there.
Not much knitting getting done but did finish darning in the ends on one blanket yesterday and nearly finished the other one at long last. Actually they have been knitted for a couple of weeks it is just the finishing off that has been taking the time.

We managed to get our lawns done yesterday pm when it was lovely and sunny. Suns coming out now so washing should dry well

morning ladies :) Our students leave us this morning, it has been a busy time here. We were at the beach with them yesterday, would loved to have mowed the lawn instead lol but I did manage to plant a couple of plants I had bought - all video recorded by the students.

More rain today, three weeks of rain I think is enough for a little while. There is still flooding down the road, fence posts covered with water.

Should be able to craft today :)

Morning ladies, it was a fairly quiet day at the market yesterday despite there being a cruise ship in with nearly 3000 passengers but I managed to sell a few things and came home with a few more $$$$ in my pocket than I started out with so that's good. There are no spots for me in the next 3 or 4 markets unless someone pulls out so I have to wait for a phone call. That's okay. I don't mind, I don't really want to do each and every one of them. I do find it quite tiring.

I was tired and achey yesterday as I did too much on Tuesday morning, so I've been sore all across my shoulder blades and upper arms. I used the weedeater and did the little lawn which is on the highest level, the edges of the middle and lower lawn, and the front lawn and the strip of grass beside the driveway, then I used the blower vac on the driveway and then I cleaned some of the deck in prepation for re-staining it. A bit too much all in one hit I decided.

I'm doing an extra shift at the op shop this morning, the lady who does the roster phoned on Sunday and asked could I manage an extra shift this week as she had 3 spots she couldn't fill, Monday afternoon was one of them. I said I would only do Monday afternoon if she was absolutely desperate as I didn't really want to be there 6 hours without a break. Tuesday afternoon was out and yesterday so I said I would do this morning. I don't mind doing an extra shift to help out but I hope it doesn't become a habit.

So I suppose I should get myself organised and get into town a bit early. I don't know if the lady I'm working with this morning takes her car or not. There's only one parking space allocated to us, so it might be a case of first in first served, or I'll have to go somewhere else to park. I begrudge paying in the carpark, the council gets enough from us in rates, and the carpark is full of potholes, they recently re-painted the lines on it and the lines go through the potholes!

Still raining here and still flooding down the road. Our back lawn can't take much more rain, it's really squishy underfoot.

Our students have left, they were off to Rotorua so hopefully they had some indoor things lined up to do.

I managed to crochet another three rows to my cloth and run out of cotton. The jumbo balls of cotton are 300 metres long so I guess that means 100 metres of cotton per round at the moment. Have another ball of cotton but won't be enough to finish. Doesn't matter, I had better crack on with some baby beanies and booties for daughter's maternity hospital before our grandson is born. I have another eight rows to go so another two balls of cotton should do the trick.

Rather quiet here as master8 went home yesterday. Almost didn't as airline worried that plane might be diverted due to expected thunderstorms in Auckland but after talking to his dad we decided to risk it and the weather was perfectly ok fortunately.

Large wash in machine so hope weather here stays fine until it is dry.

No knitting yesterday but will get back to it today. First must do some housework, shopping etc - the things which have been missed out on over the past week with going away and entertaining the boy.

Morning ladies, it's sunny, windy and cold here this morning, I've put the heat pump on, thought I'd finished with that but I'm not about to suffer from being cold for the sake of pressing a button on the remote! We had some spectacular lightning last night but didn't hear any thunder.

Have to go out this morning just to check the mail and buy milk, but I plan to do some sewing and have a tidy up in the sewing room. My shoulders are recovering so by the time the weather comes right I should be able to do some more gardening, meantime I'm still busy knitting and crocheting and hoping I will get a spot on the market before too long.

Morning everyone
Wow we had an awesome night of heavy wind, rain thunder and Lightening. The sun is shining now but I think it will be a mix today.

I didnt crochet at all yesterday. Went up the street twice, while the car was out, Im pleased cos I dont want to out in this wind.

I gave in and did a small order from love knitting to get the gold wool I wanted. Figured the postage was only $1-50 more than it would have cost here and the wool is alot nicer than what I can get here.

I have to sort the craft room again, its my dumping ground. which is far better than using the table and breakfast bar lol. And I always enjoy being in there anyway.

Housework is done, now waiting for the weather to clear a bit so I can get outside.

Wasn't sure if I could tell you in my earlier post but seeing as our daughter has mentioned it on FB I think it will be ok. Our grandson is due to make his grand entrance in about two weeks time as our daughter is going to be induced due to medical problems. In the meantime she has to rest lots. Everything will be fine and her body should go back to 'normal' after baby is born but they just have to wait until he is 38 weeks before they induce. So a bit of drama here at the moment and lots of waiting. Thank goodness for knitting and crochet!

yes we are having her so we will be very busy! Another row on the cloth done and dusted while watching The Belchey (sp) Girls on Netflix... if you have Netflix and want a good BBC drama, this one is very good!

morning ladies :) It's supposed to be fine today so I want to get outside as much as possible. I want to move some garden pots and pot them up with some brightly coloured flowers and get the lawn mowed later this morning. I also have two big piles of weeds that need picking up and binned and I will try and con MrK into making me some more mesh covers for the new plants to keep the rabbits off. Hopefully the washing can be hung outside for only the third time in three weeks.

My Bruce Springsteen tickets arrived yesterday, have been waiting for a week for them to arrive. So that's my Christmas pressie sorted lol.

Will no doubt do some more crochet/knitting today sometime.

Got the name completely wrong! Worried about our daughter I think :S Anyhoo, the name of the programme is The Bletchley Circle and it is worth a watch.

All the best for your daughter Kiwimade, yes you will be busy with a 3 yr old around but it is such a delightful age - old enough to be able to communicate well but not old enough to have learnt "naughty" tricks from school lol.

Looks like going to a lovely day here so out to the factory this am, then garden this pm, the weeds are having a great time getting huge with all the rain!
Finally got all the ends darned in on the blankets. Have knitted a couple of baby tops out of the left over wool, can get a few more yet to use it up.

Morning everyone..
Yeah very late today. I slept like a log, which isnt good for my back. Mind you climbing up and down on the floor and reaching into deep cupboards wasnt much good for it either lol... But I had a lovely time sorting the kitchen cupboard out. The doors need washing now, but that can wait till im mended again.
Did do any crochet yesterday, but thats my only job today.

Its fine, but still a bit windy.. Id like to weed below the passionfruit and raspberries, but I guess that will have to wait a bit too. I see shoots on the raspberries up high so it Must be spring lol.

We dont have Netflix, Were not really into movies much..

Woohooo re the bruce Springteen concert... Music from our childhood Kiwimade. Im sure you will have a ball.

Evening ladies, well I woke to the sound of the cell phone at 7.30 but by the time I scrambled out of bed and retrieved it from my bag it had stopped ringing but then the landline burst into life and I was told there had been a cancellation at the market and did I want to do it today. I said yes and sprang into action, but sadly it was the first market I've ever done in which I have sold nothing. Never mind, if I'd stayed home I would have sold nothing too.

A friend called in just as I was packing up and asked me to her place for a cuppa tomorrow, then said, no come for tea, so I don't have to cook tomorrow.

I did quite a bit of knitting today so not a totally wasted day.

Another wet day here by the looks of it but I've decided, stuff it, I'm going to finish weeding this garden. Am over three weeks of rain with the odd fine day thrown in (three I think). Mitre 10 have a sale of sorts on so I'll grab some annuals I can throw into the garden to fill in some gaps as well.

I had to unpick *sob* three rows last evening as I had made an obvious mistake, even MrK could pick it out. Oh well, it's better than the 18 I had to unpick a few weeks ago lol. I said to MrK it feels like this cloth just isn't destined to be finished!

Morning
Another damp day here too, it's not sure if it wants to actually rain or not.
Had a lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday and got a lot of weeding done and would like to do more today but will have to wait and see on that.

How frustrating Kiwimade. Ran out of wool on the little top I was knitting, a bit annoying as using up left over wool and now will need to get more, oh well it will be used I know.

Have started a baby vest to go on with in the meantime.
