Any cake left :). My ruler & square have just arrived, at last. Now a real stupid question here - they both have a brown masking on one side. I am meant to remove that aren't I? The sticky paper on the ruler talks about "masked sheets" for handling so am pretty sure I remove it. Otherwise how do you see through it. Sorry, said it was a stupid question.

juju40 - 2009-11-03 09:56:00
1018

yes you remove the brown paper, its just there for protection lol, yes there is plenty of cake left, just help youself, had to much already

twilight23 - 2009-11-03 10:08:00
1019

lol juju never had that before, but i know for a fact acrylic sheets do come with the brown paper on them to protect the surface... so yeah peel away.
**Morning Tea Time Ladies**
We have tea, coffee, and Phoenix organic apple mango and passionfruit juice (my current favourite!) Not to mention this lovely 1000 cake to finish!!
Still not feeling 100% but i'm going to have to sew today, am about to rip up a pair of hubbys old jeans (he never wears them) and make myself a denim raggy bag, as my poor little handbags strap is literally hanging on by a thread... and i can't mend it again.

liz_taylor - 2009-11-03 10:08:00
1020

Hi Juju yes heaps cake left help yourself :)
Yes take paper off, are you going to start your quilt today ????

Hehe Twilight, hes gorgeous.... cant look at the teatowel one, no 2 daughter when she was about 18 months went into my parents kitchen opened the cupboard climbed up the shelves and pulled boiling cup water over her face !!!!! ambulance trip to hospital so scary....she only has few little scars on forehead now thats not noticeable but a big scar on her shoulder, she's very lucky. Friend rang me soon as she heard and said take photos, daughter is pleased i did now. Hmmm happens way too easy.
Hope you all have great day. Twilight did you get your bags finished.

Thank you, I probably knew the answer but just wanted to check. Am dying to start experimenting but am not feeling too well, have heaps of housework to do and have nightshift from tonight for the next 4 nights so may pay to wait. Nothing usually gets done when I'm working so have to get the house looking tidy, washing done etc today. Might have another piece of cake to keep me going. Any idea how many weight watcher points this cake is?? Don't want to go over my limit.

juju40 - 2009-11-03 10:16:00
1022

coalrange you still here?? raggy i wanna sew 2 sqares wrong sides together with a cross then use a 1/2" seam allowence to sew them into the bag yeah?? then snip and wash... have i missed anything?? (not using batting as denim is hella thick) also i have 2 needles sizes 70/10 and 80/12 which would be better for denim .. Cheers

1036

hi liz good to see you in here, i can imagine thats not a good combination, did you see my post on the needles??

twilight23 - 2009-11-03 13:36:00
1037

yes i did, am gonna use the 80/12 as they are the thicker of the two. can't really be bothered going to spotlight

liz_taylor - 2009-11-03 13:41:00
1038

hi coalrange i just went to the link on raggie quilts do you use the batting or the xtra cotton square, so there is 3 layers of fabric or 3 layers of fabric plus batting, i think thats why my raggies dont fray to good,

twilight23 - 2009-11-03 13:50:00
1039

dont blame about going to spotlight sometimes its such a mission,

1041

twilight23 - 2009-11-03 15:36:00

Twilight i use batting, but have made quilts with no batting - one quilt has 4 layers fabric and no batting. One has 3 layers fabric and batting, those 2 are very thick winter weight ones which all my quilts were to start with. Now i use 2 layers fabric 1 for top 1 for bottom and batting in centre - much better not heavy and still snugly.
3 layers of fabric with batting does look raggier tho. Sorry it really depends on what fabric you have and what colours look good together, sometimes it needs a colour in the centre of the fabrics to come out in the raggie bit .....

coalrange1 - 2009-11-03 16:00:00
1043

thanks coalrange that all makes since to me now, iv finished my bags and started on my raggie quilts that i cut out about 2 weeks ago was waiting for that flannell to arrive that i won , oh boy i won that fairies auction for $39 i am so happy that would have cost about $70 to buy retail will have to go and sweet talk my mum.lol i am so bad.
