This weekend certainly wasn't as leisurely as last week! Had all the end of month stuff to do for the shop and prep for the next committee meeting. But L came to stay overnight for the first time in a while. Big 12 month old starting to stand on his own, talks away in his own wee language but understands ours really well, too.Asked him if he was sleepy this morning and he headed off to his bedroom!! Same last night when I mentioned a bath and undressed him. This cute wee naked tush crawling flat tack down the hall to the bathroom was very cute indeed. When he wants a cuddle he puts his arms up and when picked really nestles in. He definitely made our weekend.

Grizzly, I am so glad you had a good weekend My littlest one will be one next month and she is the same. Her 2.5 sister stayed with use Friday and Saturday and she is such a joy. Its good to split them up sometimes. Her mum said it was so quite and the little one slept better during the day. You have a big week this week.

We are such doting grandmothers Master 4 calls me Grandma when he wants something he knows he is unlikely to get. Lol usually he calls me Nana as do all the others. M R should start crawling soon so I thought I might hire one of those Carpet Cleaners from the Supermarket to clean the carpets while they are away. The Heatpump and the fire will dry them out nicely before they come home. I have been cleaning this and that in the house because it is hard with a baby around as you know Ha ha. Even got my sewing machine out to do some mending for my 18 yr old gs. Ripped his jeans. Got him a pile of warm jerseys from the Op shop. Being a poor uni student he treats his clothes very badly and only wears, jeans, tee shirts and jerseys. He has good casual dress trousers and a nice jacket which he seldom wears.

They just like being scruffy Although he spends on nice aftershave and deodorant. Ha ha. Saw him today to do their shopping and he has exams in 2 weeks. Starting to study or so he says!!!! Still knitting those scarves and matching hats for the raffles at the Trivial Pursuit night in July. Raising funds to send Miss 13 and her Soccer team to Aussi next year. I am getting sick of knitting Mohair. Ho Hum. Lol.

What about that bu----er and his assault There was a write up in our paper about trademe and giving your address etc. Most people are not that crazy thank heavens. Talk about a short fuse.

makereal, those carpet cleaners seem ok my son and dil us one regularly as they have pets and babes. I remember using one years ago and it was a disaster but having seen theirs I am sure I must have done something wrong. My 8 year old used to call me grandma for about a year and he said no one else could call me that, just him.

Wow you certainly take on the big jobs, makerealbany. What a nice surprise for your family coming home to clean carpet!
SIL betting that baby comes on Wednesday because he wants to watch State of Origin game that night. Hope he's right, can't wait. She has another scan this Thursday so we'll see what hospital says then. She's done really well getting to this point!

SO EXCITING WAITING FOR BUBS I could not sleep deeply whenever my grandchildren have been due. I sort of doze with one ear open. Ha ha. Your SIL is most likely right. Murphey's Law and all that . Lol. I could not hire a carpet cleaner in Albany and it makes me cross. Went to the gym in Orewa this morning and I could have got one there so will have to get it tomorrow. Cleaned out the Linen Closet for the kids. Very strange things in there from cartons of beer to shoes, etc on the bottom shelves. Sigh. Took the dogs for a walk when I got back this morning. What a mission. Still it tired them out. Ha. Tired me out as well. My darn email still not working so have to get no 3 son to come and fix it. I could be missing out on heaps. Lol.

Hope you are not missing out on auctions you have won with no email! I won a ride on toy and was looking forward to the drive out of town to pick it up during the weekend (snow & all) but haven't had even a whisper from the seller. Really p---- me off I can tell you! Could have really used it with L here over the weekend, too.

grizzly4 - 2008-06-09 18:49:00
1010

No grizzly I just go and email from my daughter in Orewa. Know what you mean about some sellers. Sometimes you have to email them 3 or 4 times. Snow, wow we have to pay and go to Snow Planet. It is not the same. Although the grandchildren love it. They love those ride on toys too.

Smartgirl You busy girl was browsing the wool auctions(although I should not) and what do I see our girl has all these listings. You have been knitting the nights away. Made me think that if I stopped knitting for everyone I could have a ball selling things as well. Ha ha.

Good luck and would love to hear your feedback.

Welcome I have not even got around to taking pictures yet. I always mean to and something comes up. I will do it after I finish all this cleaning. Got the carpet cleaner from Browns Bay. Lot closer than Orewa. Took me three hours to clean the carpet. Lugged and shoved stuff all around the place and I feel knackered. Ha ha. Got the fire roaring and the heatpump at the other end of the house so carpet can dry. I will air the house out tomorrow. Was looking at wool prices online. Hell some of the wool is so expensive. Costs an arm and a leg.

Makerealbany My tea was ready so logged off too soon to read your messages. What a shame. I don't usually get the chance at that time of the day but we having a bit of role reversal going on here. Hubby is cleaning the house and has my tea ready for when I get home. Caught him out a bit last night 'cos I decided to do a preventative visit to the doctor as I was starting to cough again. Back on antibiotics and prednisone to kick it into touch before I get really sick again. He zapped a couple of marks on my face while I was there with liquid nitrogen!!! Pre cancer cells apparently. Good grief!!!!!

grizzly4 - 2008-06-11 09:08:00

And tea was chicken nuggets and herby potatoes done in the oven with sweet 'n' sour sauce. Had to be quick as I had a meeting at 7. Last night working till 6.30 so bacon and eggs are promised.
We do a fortnights menu and put it on the fridge. Saves wandering around the supermarket deciding what the meals are going to be and then first one home knows exactly what to cook. Has worked brilliantly for a couple of years now. He's a great cook but useless about deciding what to have and thats the stressful bit. We both put the menu together so lots of ideas.

Oops I mean tonight I'm working till 6.30!

grizzly that sounds like a great idea. I might try it. Its so great your daughter is still hanging in there, she doesnt have long to go now. Makereal have you recovered from your carpet cleaning stint.

1024

Hi girls I could not log into the photos either. Dah!!! Modern technology and I do not get on. Super idea about the menu grizzly.Should have dropped into your place for tea last night. Must get my daughter to do one for them. They are always deciding on the day. They are all having a neat time in Wellington. I got my sewing machine out to do some mending for my grandson. Had to clean and oil it first. After yesterdays effort smartgirl I am just taking it easy. My shoulders are giving me gyp. Ha ha. An auction arrived today Cruchi Lana Mohair 80% Pure NZ wool and 20% Mohair Couleur colour which is a pretty pinkey red. I will save that for me. Lol

Hi Zoe How are you girl? Wonder about you everytime I log into this neat thread you started. Hope everything is A okay.

I knew you had difficulties with photos before, makerealbany, but thought you had it sussed now! Went back to the last photo I loaded of L's cake and it's still there so not sure what the problem can be. Some of the older ones may have been removed by now.

grizzly4 - 2008-06-11 20:58:00

Getting some lovely patterns from smartgirl's great auctions. I love trying out new things.

1028

Yeah grizzly I saw your cake. I manage to see some pics but others I miss. Don't know why but once I get my own computer set up, (when the cottage is finished), I will no 3 son to sort it all out. There is nothing like having your own gear in your own place. Sigh. Getting there.

Spent the afternoon at ACC with I. and the hospital with daughter. Knackered now with all that waiting around. S is being induced on Saturday so I will get to meet my new grandson this weekend. Can't wait!

Grizzly, I am so happy for you. At least you know when he is coming unless he surprises you. I posted your patterns this afternoon.

smartgirl - 2008-06-12 20:03:00
1031

How cool grizzly Not all the time you had to spend sitting around today but this weekend you will be super busy. Went shopping with my eldest daughter to buy granddaughter's Birthday present for tomorrow. Got home exhausted and found out I had no power to the cottage. I am staying in the house whilst the kids are away but was worried about my freezer, etc. Rang up my neat neighbour and she sent her Hubby over and he had it sussed in no time. I love my neighbours and have always had good neighbours all my life.Even when I lived overseas. We all help one another out when help is needed. My back started to ache like hell this morning smartgirl and now it is screaming. All that carpet cleaning. Repetetive actions strain it. Bug---r it. Never mind. How is your back keeping girl?

makerealbany - 2008-06-12 22:36:00
1032

The lady at ACC mentioned how good glucosimine (not sure of spelling) is. She has used for years for her back and says she never dreads getting out of bed in the mornings now. She's 61 now and looks great. Any use to you ladies?
Maybe it is our busy lives that are the problems. Carpet cleaning is a huge job probably not meant for grandmothers, eh? Mind you I have to wonder who would do these things if not us!

grizzly4 - 2008-06-13 07:46:00
1033

Too true grizzly, I have used it on and off and not sure if I could tell the difference. Makereal, I an finally going for my mri next week, if I get over this chest cough. I cant imaging being able to lie down at the moment with out coughing.

smartgirl - 2008-06-13 08:15:00
1034

Yes grizzly That is a good product. Expensive though. I use it and have done for 2 years. Also take fish oil and calcium tablets. These things do make a difference to regular mobility. Iguess sometimes I forget my age and try and do too muck. I get frustrated if I see a job that needs to be done and not being done. Dah. Grandparents are the same everywhere. Ha ha. M R can sit up by herself her Mum says. So at lest she has clean carpet when she gets home. I really miss her but she looks at the phone when I ring up. Nice day today, sun is out. Trying to finish my grandaughters hat and scarf so I can give them to her tonight. Popping the old painkillers today and tasking it easy.

makerealbany - 2008-06-13 14:25:00
1035

Much not muck Gee had to laugh at that. Must be the painkillers. Poor you smartgirl. Trying to avoid a cold. It is no fun having a bad back and the flu girl. Well your MRI will identify the probelm I hope. Have a lazy day like me. Ignore things!!!! Like you will. It does not hurt to be bone idle once in awhile. Anyway we still knit even if we are not feeling great. It is therapeutic. Psychologically beneficial so to speak. How is your teenage grandson that was staying with you?

makerealbany - 2008-06-13 14:33:00
1036

Hi Makereal, he is finally starting to come right we seem to have been to hell and back but things are looking up now. I went to a specialist (the one who organised the mri) mid April and he said he was a firm believer in patients seeing phsycologist (SP) for pain managment. I spoke to my case manager yesterday to see when that would happening. Not until after mri etc. You would think that they would want to get on and get the ball rolling. It took 2 months to get an mri.

smartgirl - 2008-06-13 20:20:00
1037

Well I guess I know what grizzly is doing today Hi grizzly, Just to let you know that I am thinking of you today. I bet your feet are working overtime. I cant sit still when I know baby is coming, I just want them out so I can hold and see them, but then I am impatient. Enjoy your day, and I cant wait to hear he has arrived.

smartgirl - 2008-06-14 11:50:00
1038

Grizzly, I was just checking off some payments and I saw your surname and the penny has only dropped. I didnt wait for your payment to show when I posted as I knew you would. Perfect name now I know.

smartgirl - 2008-06-14 14:26:00
1039

Well smartgirl This seems to be a new ploy by Specialists and Acc Case managers to send people for Pain Assessments to Psychologists. My son is being refered to one through ACC. He originally injured his back by falling off a scaffolding at work whilst painting. That was 8 years ago and he hurt one arm at the same time. He has had operations on his arm and metal plates put in.His back is getting worse and his legs are affected by the strain on his back. His GP and the ACC Specialist has said he will gradually get worse and will never be able to work again, yet now His case Manager wants him to see a Psychologist for pain management. Me thinks this is a way of getting yet another opinion. Call me critical but Pain Management Specialists seem to be the new Buzz!!!!!

makerealbany - 2008-06-14 22:46:00
1040

makereal, it was the dr not acc its acc who are saying wait till after mri and get final report. I cant believe everything takes so long.

About the name, smartgirl grizzly was hubby's nickname in the airforce but also fit his mood at times, too I think. But then that programme came on tv and it stuck.

Baby arrived at 7.18am this morning by caesar. We were there by 8 am yesterday morning but induction didn't take till 11.30 last night. In the end his wee head was stuck facing upwards and they ended up acting very fast to get him out. My husband, myself, SIL and his mum were there pretty much full time and were active participants in the delivery. I feel black and blue. Didn't get home till after 2 this afternoon. Had a sleep while washing machine did her laundry and then went back for an hour before tea. Very full on weekend.

grizzly4 - 2008-06-15 20:02:00
1043

grizzly, they always give you are wee scare none of mine have just come like they should have. What a relief when it is all over. I hope you have a good nights sleep tonight. Are you working tomorrow.

smartgirl - 2008-06-15 22:52:00
1044

Congratulations grizzly Another wee blessing in the family. Hope you all have a good nights sleep tonight.

makerealbany - 2008-06-15 23:40:00
1045

Well one good thing smartgirl At lest the Dr acknowledges you have pain that requires managing. Yes ACC take ages to approve things. Still creeping around today but have stopping taking the antiinflammatory drugs because my stomach has started playing up again. Stopped the painkillers as well now. It is hopeless once the stomack kicks in. Should be right in a few days I hope. Ha ha. Kids due back on Tuesday so I am looking forward to that.

makerealbany - 2008-06-15 23:46:00
1046

I bet y ou are, they have been gone for ages. my girl is aus has just confirmed that she and her wee man are coming home for 6 days and leaving dad at home. I am very excited as I know he will have changed so much since was there in April. He will be 21 months.

smartgirl - 2008-06-15 23:53:00
1047

And what a sleep it was! And yes I do have to work today and with a late meeting till 7!!
Not really where I want to be, eh?
S txting me already, she and B had a great night and she's waiting for her first shower with huge anticipation.

grizzly4 - 2008-06-16 08:01:00

Grizzly, how heavy did he actually end up weighing? She will be on cloud nine, with her new wee man.

1049

You will enjoy Having them home smartgirl. I am not too sure if no 2 son and his family are being posted home at the end of this year. Hope so but who knows. Yes Wonder how much bubby weighed. Little miss 6 months has grown out of her 6 TO 9 months clothes. I knitted a cardi and hat for her in pure wool before she went away. I thought it would be too big but her Mum put it on today and she fits it. Boy is that girl keeping me busy. Just started on another cardi for her tonight.

Although I am still knitting beanies and scarves for the Trivial Pursuit night. Have knitted some nice mohair sets but was knitted black wool for the guys tonight and it was so hard to see because I am doubling the wool. So put it down and started to knit White and pink for baby instead. Ha ha. Will have to finish the black during the day. Tried to get on TM 4 times tonight before I could get in.
