We have had Blue sky today. But the temp would have to drop a lot if we were to get a frost but its very clear out there.

Ive got half a round and the second blanket will be finished. Then onto Number 3 with white in it. Still enjoying the bright colours.

Then I'm going to start a Battleship one. Which will be done in squares. I have the grey for the boats, red for the "Hits" but will need to get the blue for the sea.

Ive decided to call my new fb page "Hot off the Hook"... which I think is kinda catchy. But that wont be up until Ive finished these rainbow blankets and then dug out the crates with the rest of the stuff in. And dare I say it, its nearly time to start selling Christmas toys etc lol.

That's a nice catchy name for your page popeye, hope it goes well for you.

I finished the cot blanket so it will off to it's owner shortly. I also have a 'helper' when making bigger items. A certain Furry One loves his soft blankets and pillows and will snuggle down as I knit or crochet. Makes it awkward when trying to knit that's for sure lol.

The chunky wool I bought the other day will be too thick for the throw so I'll need to find something else. Shame really as it was lovely and soft. But I have found a lovely soft sage green at Spotlight for the double bed's blanket. It's been a while since I have used sage for a colour.

I finished the second blanket last night but didn't start the third. We had an early night. So that's my project for today. After Ive folded more washing lol

Greens are another of my fave colours to work with Kiwimade. years ago when I was doing blankets on one square I made MrP one. was Cream, light and then dark green. its a bit worse for wear now. But he still loves it. I did a mauve and purple for me and a pink one for Mum. All using the same cream, light and dark colours.

MrPs lips aren't quite so plump this morning. Told him to stay away from the botox today lol..

Hi Everyone what lovely sunny warm weather we have had this weekend. Was out in the garden this morning. This afternoon I visited a friend for an hour or so.
It's been a week from hell and everyone has said you look back and say that was an easy week after a month or so.

Finally got my sewing machine out and gave it a good clean and oil. It's Bernina 730 cost 79.15.00. I have had it the last 20+ years. Look forward to sewing this week fingers crossed.No Doctors and Hospital appointments this week.
I did some scarf knitting on circular needles.So easy to carry around in my bag.

Love the colours of your blanket. Green and Cream will work up well together.Thanks for sharing popeye.

Lol your girl appreciates your efforts Kuaka. Id love to do ours. But I don't have the strength in my hands for the staple gun.

I thought the last two blankets were fast to do. this one feels much faster lol.. Ive had a couple more ideas too, so I'm making a list in the back of my graphs book.

I love the fabric you chose for your chairs kuaka, they certainly change the chairs. As for puss.. well she obviously approves!

Circular needles are so handy aren't they sunflowers. Are you knitting the scarf in the round or just using the needles for the extra width of the scarf?

I started the double blanket yesterday, yep, I gave in and went to Spotlight lol. Changed my mind about the shade of green and am now crocheting an olive green. I've crocheted three squares and love it. Am going to put a small amount of pink in with some random squares and pink in the edging when it is all done. I picked up some 4 ply white baby wool (so soft!) with 40% off as well so have enough now to keep me busy for a bit. And I bought a book to add to our daughter's Christmas present about Tunisian crochet so that is her sorted.

Morning everyone.
A mild morning here. MrP is still sleeping, so its quiet again.

Its such a shame when you have to buy more wool hehe. I make notes of the weight and how much wool I use on my blankets, so I know for future reference.
Ohh I like the sound of the olive green Kiwimade and the pink will be lovely with it. On some of my random blankets the squares I do in brown pink green and white are my favourite.

Ive done four colour panels on the new blanket.. Why is it that when you do stripes it seems to grow faster?

My twin saw the blankets and once again said ohh one for your new great niece.... he has no idea of the work and money that goes into blankets etc.. I'm over him asking for stuff at the moment. He best not push cos hes likely to cop a telling off. hes been the same since before we were born I reckon lol..

A quiet day here, have to ring and confirm MrPs diabetes eye check later.

But for now a play on here (maybe my great niece will have arrived.). Anna her name is. Why people find out and name their kids before they are born seems really stupid to me.. Its one of those things that should be a total surprise, IMO.

Very pretty blanket Kiwimade. You must feel so proud to have used yarn you dyed yourself.

I have three great nieces now, two are mid to later teenagers and then Anna, who was born at 10-47 last night. Ohh I don't know if that's their time or ours.. probably theirs.
And one darling little great Nephew who , without bias is the cutest handsomest little man you could ever find. His smiles light up your day, even by photo.

6 rows from half way on the third blanket, I'm enjoying it even more than the last two.

Have Mainly Music this morning, then will help BiL for a while in his factory and have aquarobics this evening so can't see much knitting getting done but hopefully will get a couple of squares done in between times.

morning ladies :) What a stunning day it's going to be! I'll be outside weeding as usual, at least by weeding over winter it's not too bad. The bin man should be here soon to empty the bins so I can make another start.

I crocheted more squares for the double blanket and I can see this will take a while, it's the second double blanket I will have made. So far I'm happy with the way it is turning out and just love the olive green.

Will finish this coffee and then get outside.

I think I overdid the crochet yesterday. I got a lot done but my hands were aching earlier lol.. Still Ill try and get some done before I pop up to the med centre for my depo. Just to iron the kinks out in my hands lol

Afternoon ladies. I know I've been a bit slack the last couple of days. Don't know where the time goes.

Can't remember if I said this or not, but I managed to get out to the boat on Saturday afternoon, and surprisingly enough (because it must be two months or more since I was out there) the motor started on second turn of the key. By the time I rowed back I was knackered and had to ask two gentlemen to help me flip the dinghy over once I'd lugged it into position. No probs.

Sunday I had a visit from my next door neighbour, they live in Whangarei but own the house next door and usually have it rented out. He's been diagnosed with Alzheimers and they are tidying it up to put it on the market, going to sell their place in Whangarei and go into a retirement village. She said it's like living with a 3 year old who is getting younger all the time. He says things like 'I can't find the bathroom, what have you done with it'. Must be very difficult.

Yesterday I worked in the op shop from 10 to 1, then had a lady came and bought one of my surplus arm chairs. Gradually getting decluttered. Went to the club in the hopes of winning the membership draw, but no luck there. Had two frames of snooker and came home. Long phone call from my sister, and promptly fell asleep in the chair straight after tea. As a result I was still awake at 3.30 this morning BUT I did manage to finish my c2c blanket last night. Really pleased with it.

Now I have to start on the next chair to cover. I'm fast running out of enthusiasm.

morning ladies :) Wow kuaka, no wonder you fell asleep in the chair lol. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease, I hope your neighbour has plenty of support while moving.

I'm back in the classroom today and again on Friday so busy here as well. I didn't get as much weeding done yesterday as I planned, oh well, tomorrow is another day. The ground is a lot warmer than when I weeded a fortnight ago though - my fingers weren't frozen this time round.

I have completed one 'strip' of squares for the blanket, am joining and sewing in ends as I go. I must talk to our daughter and see what knitting she wants for the new baby. She has lots from our first grandy so no point doubling up on things. So nice to finally be able to knit for #2 at long last! I'll knit in between crocheting the squares. It's not often I have two things on the go at once.

Have put blanket aside at moment as Church collecting things for a 17 yr old expecting a baby very soon. Got some wool yesterday and am doing a puerperium cardy and booties to go in the baby basket for her, it is a quick knit did the main part last evening when got in from aquarobics so just the sleeves today and will get buttons when in town later today.

Had to smile to myself when went for the wool - went in to get 2 balls and came out with 6 - well they were on special and too good a bargain to miss even if nothing specific in mind to use them for ????.

Perhaps we all ramble a bit but it is so nice to have such a friendly thread to come to, there doesn't seem to be many on here (not that I read them all though) that you can just be yourself and no one is negative back to you.

Another nice day, just a little frost but not a cloud in sight at the moment. Had a lovely walk into town yesterday and brought a new toaster as the old one stopped working.

Had a bonus knitting evening as the meeting I was supposed to go to in Hastings was cancelled - the chairman lives in Havelock North and has succumbed to the water "bug". It certainly has been awful for them and I guess there will be repercussions for quite a while as to how the water was contaminated. Think it should be a wake up call for all councils in NZ with the changes in land use these days.

morning ladies :) Foggy here this morning but it should lift soon. We've been hearing about the water in Havelock North jayemtoo, pretty scary with so many people ill. Our water is 'bore' water so not connected to the town supply. I wonder how others in the Havelock North area in a similar situation are. And yes, I agree, we do need a change of thinking with our land use.

I managed to crochet one square last night, was pretty tired by the time I got home. The Furry One had sat at the gate most of the day waiting for me and was super excited to have me home. So between him and being tired, not a lot of knitting/crochet time.

Better get the day started, am meeting a friend for coffee later.

Shopping this morning, and MrP is coming, so I guess it will be to the oppies too. If it was just me Id have given them a miss this morning. I'm a bit creaky. But he needs to get exercise so Ill go where he wants.

I have 1.5 rounds of the border to go and the third blanket is done. Only 4 days for this one. I like it the best. And I must weigh the remaining wool, cos I haven't used all I got..

Its scary the water problems.. Its not really till you get crappy water that you appreciate your own. We came from Putaruru to here, and that was the Pump bottled water from the tap. Here its absolutely cruddy. I filter mine and Boil it for MrP.

Morning ladies, another busy day yesterday after a late start. I went to knit and natter and then after lunch went to Kaikohe and bought myself a new weedeater. The chap in the shop asked was I related to a certain someone and I said yes, he's Mr Ks nephew. Not a very common surname.

Then I went through to Waipapa (just a bit further out than Kerikeri) and bought myself a smart phone. Haven't worked out how to use it yet, so that will be a little exercise for the next couple of days. I've still got the landline and the old cellphone to use in the meantime. The chap that served me asked was I related to another certain someone with the same surname (this one also had the same first name) This time I think not but weird to think there might be someone else out there with the same name.

Then I sat after tea and finished this:

The plan is to do several more pieces, so that when I have the market, people can make a puzzle ball and chose the colours they want, but my mission for today is to finish a knitted pig, hopefully recover one chair, and maybe try out my new weedeater.

Good morning from an overcast day in Napier. Yes, the sun was out first thing this morning.

Mr S in not too bright at present so is in bed resting.
He was dropped by a Mobility TransportService Person we used last Thursday to take him over to the hospital getting into the van.He had to have an Ultra Sound
They have not once made contact to see how he is. Not happy about it at all. Two trips to the Doctor. This has set him back big time. At present, he uses a walking frame,hoping we could keep him out of a wheelchair as long as possible. Will know when we see the Doctor tomorrow a/noon. So fingers crossed.
Been out in the garden a couple of times and been out again this morning. Good to see the spring flowers out.
No knitting to talk of. Got to K&N on Tuesday for an hour.

Looking forward to seeing these blankets you are making.

I too, read this thread because of its naturalness, and "homey" feelings. Love it. I finished the black jersey I had been knitting for my granddaughter for such a long time, why teenagers love black so much I don't know. So have started on a lovely soft cardigan for me, and so much left over wool in chunky, I decided to knit a blanket in coloured blocks. I also got a learn to crochet kit from Spotlight, so that may be useful. We moved house a couple of weeks ago, to a lovely sunny small farm, and we are still going round saying, "where are the pots again" or "has anyone seen the laundry basket". Oh the joys. We are going to love it here. I live with my daughter and husband and teenagers. The weather has been gorgeous, hope it keeps up for a few days, it is so cheering.

I love the puzzles kuaka, they are very clever and the idea for people to mix their own colours is a good one. You will love your weedeater, love ours, just have to remind Mrk to change the blade to the string for me. If he doesn't, I'll have a go myself.

Back in the classroom for me again today so no knitting/crochet again today. Did a few more squares last evening but was outside yesterday mowing lawns when I came back from town. Did manage to finally buy a new microwave though, 60% off at the Warehouse.

Morning ladies, well it's sunny, windy and cold this morning. Not sure what I will do today. I had quite a busy day yesterday. It didn't work out quite the way I'd planned but that often happens.

I started off by having a bit of a tidy up, vacuumed the floor and then decided while I was having my morning coffee I would pull some more staples out of the next chair. Next thing I'm rushing off to the bathroom for elastoplast because the screwdriver slipped and gashed straight across the knuckle on my index finger on my left hand. It also scraped the middle finger but didn't draw blood there. Funny thing was, the middle finger hurt like hell but the one which was threatening to have me bleeding to death didn't hurt at all. I thought at one stage that if I couldn't stop the bleeding I'd have to go to the doc, but it stopped eventually, I put some Dettol cream on it and a dressing and carried on. I admit I did say "bother" and a few other choice words at the time. Finger seems fine this morning though I haven't taken the dressing off to check.

Did some gardening in the afternoon and was going to use my new weedeater but a friend called in with her sister and a bottle of wine and a bag of chips, so that was the end of the gardening. Lovely to have visitors though.

I have some sewing to do, son wants another curtain made and has given me the measurements, have some trousers to shorten for someone, and a pair to mend for the op shop, so always something to keep me busy.

Puss is sitting in the sun in the kitchen, it must be cold outside because she wasn't out there long.

Morning everyone.
I used to love shifting, have done it so often I work in a particular pattern. None of this packing while your loading the trailer. I remember one shift a friend did. We only had a few boxes so they were packed taken to the next place emptied and came back to be re-used. I will Never do that again.

We have some light fluffy clouds so maybe the end of the lovely days is near.

Now Mndy you have given me an idea re Kuakas Scarves. I'm not sure if I have one in my market stuff, but they would be soo handy when I sit up in bed reading.

Hope MrS is feeling better today. I would push for something to be done about that.

We have the St Johns lady coming today to check the alarm etc. Just after lunch.
Ive got washing on and the floors to do. MrP has the dishes.

Ive got two blankets designed that I'm going to start later. One I need some blue for. One is granny squares and the other I'm going to do in rows. So Ill work on both at the same time for a bit of difference colourwise.

Not having a very good winter - I have COPD - having lots of problems breathing, so taking things very quietly. Have been knitting puerperium cardis and wee bootees to match. It is another lovely day here so will try and finish the weeding, need to catch up with housework as well. We have more students arriving on the 5th Sept so want the garden looking nice by then.

I almost finished another square but fell asleep on the last round, will finish it today no doubt. Last year I crocheted some snowflakes for the Christmas tree but ended up giving them to our daughter. They are quick and easy so might make a few more for our tree. And I can use some old thread I had for hardanger.

I had a lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday even though it was drizzly rain at times, even managed to get all the tall grass out of the gooseberry bush it tends to get left until I just can't stand it any longer but actually wasn't too bad this time scratches-wise.

Love doing puerperium Cardies too Tinybaldone, they are my 'go to' pattern when need a quick present, have just finished one which is waiting for the buttons, I have adjusted the pattern a little and only put on 5 buttons, think that's enough for a mother to have to fiddle with and less to have to find lol.

Mmmmm Spinderella not sure if you can have too much - I just make sure I don't by knitting it up as fast as I can hehe ????

Look after those hands Kuaka and Popeye, they are so necessary for crafting! I think if I had to lose something it would be my legs as I would go crazy if I couldn't see or use my hands for crafts.

Morning ladies, talking about losing things, I thought I had lost my ear yesterday. Yes, you heard right - my ear. I was busy in the garden dismantling the bean frame (because it was so high that I couldn't pick half the beans plus the wood was starting to rot and wouldn't have supported the weight of the beans, so now it will be dwarf beans only). Anyway a chunk of the frame came down on me, smacking me across my ear. Man it hurt. I half expected to look down and see my ear in amongst the spinach, or at least my ear-ring ripped out and blood everywhere, but thankfully not. My ear seems fine and so does my ear-ring and I'm pleased about that as it's 9ct gold. That's two accidents in two days. Think I will do nothing more strenuous today than go and buy bread and milk and check the mail.

Started doing another flower puzzle ball last night. Have to find the pattern for the wedges as I know it uses a different wedge from the ordinary balls. So far I can only find the pattern for the flowers. Also want to knit a kiwi and try to finish the elephant puzzle so that I can take them along next Saturday to show the lady who runs the market. If I don't get them all finished I've got plenty of other stuff to take, it's just that the elephant and flower ball are quite different from anything anyone else has on the market.

It's very still here today but overcast and not terribly warm. I lit the fire last night and of course dozed off in the chair and woke with a stiff neck, but I managed to sleep right through the night so I don't feel too bad today.

Morning everyone,
All very busy at the mo... I need to get some weeding done, but am procrastinating on that one lol.

Tinybaldone, the last blanket is one of my faves too. Shame it has to go, but Ive kept the wool numbers and samples so if I feel the need I can make another.

Welcome Spinderella... I said to MrP this morning I can imagine what my sister in law would say if she saw all my wool lol...But if I keep it topped up to a certain level I seldom get stuck for doing something urgently.
I have more coming this week, maybe today, just some black and white that Whiskey had. Shes not fond of working with acrylic, and that's what I normally use so Ive brought that off her and a very good price.

Yesterday I spent two hours sorting and counting marbles, I Somehow ended up with over 1000. lol
Then I spent another 2 hours sorting the craft room again..

Needless to say I was knackered last night lol.. in bed about 8-30. I read till 10pm and then slept solidly till 5 am.. that's a long sleep for me.

So todays mission is sorting through two crates of fabric. I'm going to cut it in half. I just don't need to keep it incase I use it. So its a destash I suppose. Ill take larger pieces to the oppy and smaller stuff to the kindies.

Ive dug out the coat hangers, I have one more crate to find tho, the one with the santas and snow white etc in.

So I shall be listing stuff either later today or tomorrow.. Finally lol.
