| ixcelm I saw it was you. I thought to myself that girl is so busy what is she doing buying more wool. A mirror reflection perhaps. Ha ha. Good to hear from you anyway. I thought I might try experimenting and it is all your fault because you told me ages ago how to handknit this type of wool. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-05-21 11:39:00 |
| Notice... we both don't mention the trader eh? The wool is just scrummie to work with...and you know me...always projects on the go! lol I pwwwwomise to share next time!! lol ixcelm8 - 2008-05-21 11:51:00 |
| I will remember that promise Lol !!!1 Seriously though it looks like lovely wool. Have a great day. makerealbany - 2008-05-21 11:55:00 |
| Hi girls, grizzly how is your husband after his opp? I hope you d aughter is well and that you are coping rushing around looking after them both. Is your daughter in hospital still. I wake up everyone morning and hope all is ok. Makereal are you still looking after y our g/kids and how is your daughter. Its is another lovely sunny day here, I just love autumn. smartgirl - 2008-05-22 11:49:00 |
| Hi smartgirl Still looking after no 1 daughter (and her children) who had a virus now because her immune system is shot to hell. She is at home with the children by herself tonight. Says she can cope for the night. Both kids are teenagers.Had to rush home to help no 2 daughter for the night because she is worn out and bubby is teething, throwing up , smiling, and is such a lovely baby. Being a first time Mum no 2 daughter is a bit stressed but baby is taking it all in her stride. She is just a bundle of joy but she is also a very determined little 5 month old and can be quite a worry to her Mum when she doesn't sleep when she should, etc, etc. I keep telling my girl that all babys are different, etc, etc, but she is such a perfectionist. Lol. Ah well we give our support and that is all we can do. makerealbany - 2008-05-22 21:47:00 |
| Yes grizzly How is the patient? makerealbany - 2008-05-22 21:49:00 |
| Ooh ooh ooh Allowed to take the bandages off today before his shower. I get all the good jobs! Everyday is a little better for him I think. I have some errands to do today for work so am taking him out for a ride before he gets stir crazy. Looking forward to the weekend although I have the shop AGM tomorrow afternoon. You are both lovely for asking after him. I have nearly finished the wee hooded jacket and now have another order for 4 prs of wee sox. grizzly4 - 2008-05-23 08:39:00 |
| You are a busy girl grizzly I can remember after my back surgery ringing a mate to take me out for a couple of hours so I COULD HOBBLE AROUND SOMEWHERE EITHER THAN MY HOUSE. ha ha. It does drive you crazy to be stuck at home. Spent last night sewing buttons on cardis and jackets I have knitted for bubs. Now her mummy wants a plain pink cardi for her. Some of her outfits are so bright and colourful the plain cardis look better. I hope you two have a nice day. makerealbany - 2008-05-23 09:12:00 |
| Hi smartgirl What is the weather like there? It is freezing here but warm in the house. The fire is going and so is the heatpump at the other end of the house. Slept in here last night as M R now thinks I am her big cuddly toy. Ha ha.She talks away and loves hugs. makerealbany - 2008-05-23 09:15:00 |
| Wet here and not getting a lot of time to sit and knit. Had an AGM yesterday which was the usual stuff and stayed up late watching music clips on C4. Gosh some of the songs took me back! We had lots of laughs. We haven't been up that late for ages 'cos of hubby's work hours. Not an issue at present of course. grizzly4 - 2008-05-25 10:06:00 |
| Hi girls, we are having another beautiful day here, makes you happy to be alive. Grizzly, hows the patient coming along. I hope your daughter is well. I come on here expecting to see she has had baby. I know its a bit soon but they do have minds of their own. Makereal, what are you up to today. smartgirl - 2008-05-25 10:51:00 |
| Hey grizzly What a lovely time you two had listening to music. My first hubby loved listening to music and we always had records playing. My Second hubby was a musician as well as a bricklayer and the kids played musical instruments so the house was once again alive with music. I still have my stereo in storage but I do miss all that music. Never mind when the rest of the cottage is finished I can do my thing. Ha ha. I am getting frustrated and it had better be finished in the next few months. My patience is wearing rather thin. makerealbany - 2008-05-25 20:52:00 |
| Hi smartgirl Had a repeat of last Sunday. Shopping for groceries with my grandson, dogs to the beach with my grand daughter and then upto Orewa. Getting a bit fed up with things at the moment. Was raving before about the lack of progress on my cottage which was the deal when I bought into this property. I just want total independence again. makerealbany - 2008-05-25 20:56:00 |
| Had a pot luck tea at a friends place last night. First time in ages and had great fun. Bit hard getting up this morning, though. Still chilly down here but at least not raining at present. Finished the sock order for TM yesterday so started a geurnsey for myself in a bluey grey colour. I am so in love with my aran cardy. grizzly4 - 2008-05-26 08:14:00 |
| Hubby (I) is up & around a lot better now. Starting to do wee jobs around the house for me now which is great. Daughter looking well at present. Definitely finishing work this week and inducing baby 5/6 if he isn't here by then. grizzly4 - 2008-05-26 08:17:00 |
| Thats good news grizzly, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You need some time out before he arrives so that you can relax and enjoy him. Does he have a name yet. smartgirl - 2008-05-26 08:32:00 |
| makereal, I know what you mean I started painting the inside of my place before I hurt my back. I am so over it not being finished. smartgirl - 2008-05-26 08:34:00 |
| Hi girls It is freezing up here and I have a warm cardi on too grizzly. Went to the gym was so hot and then I came out into the real world. ha ha. Eldest girl and I went out for lunch which was nice. Have to whip down and pay for an auction and then I am going to sit and knit in the cosy loungeroom. Now it is raining as well. makerealbany - 2008-05-26 13:25:00 |
| Just been reading again about the Kahui babies. I am just as sickened as everyone else is about their horrific deaths and their poor sad little lives prior to that death. Where the hell was CYF? After those babies were admitted to Hospital it was mandatory reporting so why have we never heard anything about the case that CYF'S investigated. Why wasn't the parent that receives the benefit for the children not charged with neglect. The police stuffed up or whatever but that does not exclude CYF'S from following due process with an investigation. Has anyone asked that before?. makerealbany - 2008-05-26 15:22:00 |
| Absolutely agree with you Where is the accountability for 'professionals' these days? grizzly4 - 2008-05-27 07:34:00 |
| Online banking is a good solution to going out in winter to pay for auctions!! And baby's name is Beren so I will have a Brooklyn (3), a Lucas (1)and a Beren. My lovely boys. grizzly4 - 2008-05-27 07:37:00 |
| Thats a lovely name grizzly, I imagine when they are all running around you will go through all of their names till you get the right one. Mine dont even have the same initials and I do it. My mum did it and when I was younger I was never going to be like her. Famous last words. My two little one are Holly and Bella and I am very good at Holla and Belly. smartgirl - 2008-05-27 09:45:00 |
| makereal, you are right, every time I see their picture I get upset. They were so beautiful and innocent. Why the devil do you let a mother who never visited her babies, take them home and not follow it up. They were probably safe for the first few days but after that their life would have been hell. smartgirl - 2008-05-27 09:47:00 |
| Hi girls Catch up when I can. Off to Rotorua to spend a few days with Mum and my Sick sis. Keep the lantern burning. makerealbany - 2008-05-27 13:13:00 |
| Have a good trip, makerealbany! Love your names, too, smartgirl. Bella was the girls name my daughter had picked. Nice coincidence. Gosh it's cold down here, thank goodness for my favourite cardy, hehe. I'm half way up the back of my geurnsey so I'm very pleased with myself so far. grizzly4 - 2008-05-28 08:53:00 |
| Hi to Zoe How are you and your sister? Still enjoying the days of our lives on this message thread? Look what you started, we are completely addicted now! Hope you are keeping warm and busy with your craft on these colder days. grizzly4 - 2008-05-29 09:17:00 |
| Makereal, I hope your sister is keeping well and that you have a great catch up. grizzly, it is certainly getting colder these days. the sun is shining today but we had a good old frost this morning. I have to laugh at the weather presenters saying it will be cold tonight in Auckland and then that it will be 8 degrees. they need to harden up. Zoe you certainly started a great thread, I often think of you and hope you are well. smartgirl - 2008-05-29 10:56:00 |
| S finishing work today, thank goodness. Hospital have withdrawn their plans of inducing her next week as she had a few contractions on Wednesday. Going to see if he comes on his own. Weighs 7lb 7ozs now. We'll see how correct their maths is when he is here, eh? grizzly4 - 2008-05-30 09:38:00 |
| grizzly, it oftens happens when they finish work. One of my g/daughters was overdue and I said to her (through her mummys tummy) that she should come tomorrow as it was my day off. I got a phone call about 7.30 the next morning, that they were on their way to the hospital. I had only told her to hurry up about 11.30 the previous night. I would be nice if he came on his own. I was induced twice, not that nice. My last I went into labour by myself. smartgirl - 2008-05-30 10:19:00 |
| Hi girls Sis is feeling rotten and looking dreadful. Neurosurgeon is driving her as crazy as the tumor is. She is sick of tests and delays. We managed to have a couple of days just the 3 of us. I drove places and ran in and got what she and Mum wanted. Places like Spotlight for wool and silko for Mum, Pharmacy for both of them, Supermarket, etc.We had a lot of laughs after I had been with Mum to see her GP about the results of Mum's tests. Boy did I give her GP HELL. makerealbany - 2008-05-30 23:50:00 |
| Wanted her to go and have another cervical smear and a Mamograph. They really do not have a clue. Even though it would have been done by a Gynacologist. This is an invasive procedure for an 80 year old and Mum says there is no way in hell she is having any surgery at her age. Ok so things do not look good but it is her choice and they can just respect that. As for the mm she said no one is squashing her boobs. As she says she just wants to get on and enjoy the time she has left. Knowing Mum she will be saying that in another 10 years. ha ha, makerealbany - 2008-05-30 23:59:00 |
| How is our little man?grizzly Is he still keeping warm in his Mummy's tummy or has he decided to see the world yet. I bet you are so excited. I was for all of my grandchildren. Drove their parents mad with all my phone calls if I could not visit. I am knitting M R a red cardi, on to the sleeves now. Mum and I sat and talked into the wee hours knitting away. It is getting colder and she is growing so tall. makerealbany - 2008-05-31 00:08:00 |
| Hi smartgirl How is your back these days? Does the cold make it worse. Drove through but went from Taupiri to Cambridge the back way. Makes the trip shorter. I always go the back way for flying trips. ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-05-31 00:12:00 |
| It is so cold here tonight Winter is here and you know it is when hours later, the washing just hangs on the line looking and feeling the same as it did when you hung it out. When I was in Rotorua went to buy some silko for Mum to use in Taniko for a Bodice she is making and it cost nearly $13 for a little hank. Poor Mum has finally run out of her huge stash she had and was shocked at the new prices. She spent over $70 and had very little to show for it. I have to keep an eye out for silko, for her and she told me to use my good eye and not my blind one. HA HA. She has a great sense of humour my Mum. makerealbany - 2008-05-31 21:57:00 |
| makereal, it was not too bad, I find if I heat my place up in the morning it stays warm most of the night, I did have to put the heat on the night before last. I had HJ come to stay, she is nearly 2 1/2 now, and BR is 6 weeks off one. Its not fair, they grow too fast. How was your trip?? smartgirl - 2008-06-01 08:50:00 |
| makereal, I must be going mad or this thread is, the last one up was 956, and I did think you were repeating yourself as I was sure you had said that before. smartgirl - 2008-06-01 08:56:00 |
| makereal, you must be run off your feet, home for a rest. It is so hard having them so far away when they are not well. I was thinking about you while you were there. Your poor mum, she does have choice and they should know that, and not go pestering these poor old ladies and asking to do things so personal. I hope they have someone to do the shopping when you are not there. smartgirl - 2008-06-01 09:00:00 |
| Hi smartgirl Yes I think the ghosts are playing in our thread again. My Brother in Law is pretty good but he works away. Leaves early in the morning and gets home late. They manage to get the shopping done. My arthritis loved the thermal bath while I was away but the cold swelled the joints in my fingers and the ruddy skin has to split because of the calcification. Healing nicely though. Wonder if the little fellow has been born yet. It is so nice having littilies around the house. They do keep you busy though. As you will know. HA HA. makerealbany - 2008-06-01 09:32:00 |
| Boy, you guys have been busy I had heaps to read to get up to date. I see you're up in the early hours again, makerealbany! No new grandson yet!! Hubby and I are busy making soup today as son's family are all sick and want to store up our freezer too. He's going to make more bread, too for our tea tonight. We had a lovely day yesterday, just the 2 of us for a change. Pottered around getting rid of the leaves outside, mowing lawns etc. It was such a beautiful day. Spent the evening watching DVDs. I have finished the front of my jersey as well so feeling very proud of myself. grizzly4 - 2008-06-01 10:39:00 |
| Homemade bread and soup yum Just the ticket these days. The dreaded flu is rushing through all of our families. My daughter and all her kids had it last week. She cooks bread all the time because her kids wont eat shop bread. Lol. I am sure they share it with their mates. These days kids love homecooked food and yet when I was a kid we used to think that a pkt of shop bought Roundwine biscuits were special. Reversal of everything. I dread looking in my garden but am off home soon so will have to. Ha ha. Glad you two are having a nice time together grizzly. makerealbany - 2008-06-02 13:55:00 |
| What an excellent weekend Even though it's been drizzling for last 2 days still managed to get some poly's into the garden and the veges are doing really well. Frost cloth is amazing stuff! grizzly4 - 2008-06-02 19:38:00 |
| Jolly email is down I access my email through Vodaphone and it has been dropping in and out and now it is mainly out. Yuk. Have been waiting until cottage was finished to hook into the Broadband we have in the house. Work progressing in the lounge of the cottage. Cool. S is home and in there working on the ceiling. Won an auction but no payment details. Well have to contact them and find out. makerealbany - 2008-06-03 12:31:00 |
| How frustrating for you. Just like having to mess around with free virus protection providers! Still I have that sorted now thanks to friends putting the word out. Internet is great fun until the it gets too techy for me. Knitting is better. I only have to the neck and my jersey is finished! Yahoo another warm winter woolly. grizzly4 - 2008-06-03 18:22:00 |
| Just finished another cardi for Baby She is nearly 6 montha and a little chubby chops. She is in her cot supposed to be asleep but I am babysitting and she is calling out. Trying to ignore her chatter because I will be in big trouble if she is not asleep when her Mummy comes home. She is a cheery little soul, full of smiles all the time even with the teething. Have to pick up grandson who is nearly 5 tomorrow for the day. He is into a fantasy whim at the mo and told me he has 5o cats. He only has 3. But if you are stupid enough to ask him their names he will tell you and he has some very funny names. Ha ha. He loves cats. makerealbany - 2008-06-05 13:53:00 |
| Makereal, they are just a delight. My baby will be one on 9 July. I cant believe it and I think she will be the last. Her and HJ, who will be 2 1/2 same day spent Wednesday at my place. They are both so much fun. BR still only had 2 teeth but there is nothing she cant chomp her way through. She gets through it faster that her sister and she eats more. smartgirl - 2008-06-06 07:15:00 |
| Grizzly, I am thinking of you I hope everything is ok and that you have just been to busy at the moment. smartgirl - 2008-06-06 07:47:00 |
| Lots of changes afoot at work so my days are pretty manic. Hubby went back to surgeon who isn't happy with his knee at all. 6 more weeks off work! And hospital told S yesterday that baby is making good progress himself without being induced. Should be here in week to 10 days! She will be well & truly full term by then so so much for all their saying that couldn't happen. Beats me. I am wearing my new jersey today, lovely & snuggly! grizzly4 - 2008-06-06 09:25:00 |
| Hi smartgirl Yes our grandchildren are heaps of fun and I am sure they help me retain my sanity when everything goes haywire. Master 4, "nearly 5 Nana" he says, and I had a lovely afternoon yesterday. We had lunch out and then shopped. By that I mean I WALKED AND HE LOOKED AND SHOPPED. Ha ha. We went home with an armfull and none of it was mine. I am all on my lonesome for awhile. The kids have gone to Wellington to take bubs to see her other Grandparents. The house is really quiet, even the cats and dogs are subdued. I had to knit frantically last night to finish their warm hats for them to take. It will be cold down there. makerealbany - 2008-06-07 21:42:00 |
| Poor Hubby My friends Hubby had both his knees done. He had one done 3 months before the other. He is an electrician and the poor b-gger has to crawl under houses , etc and he was in pain for nearly a year. They should never have done the other knee so quickly. Another mate had his arm done and 12 weeks late that is not right either. It really raises lots of concerns when you have an op doesn't it? Hope things settle at work grizzly. Tell hubby to enjoy his time off while he can because he will be back slaving away in no time. makerealbany - 2008-06-07 21:49:00 |
| I get number 1000, well done Zoe for this great thread. Makereal, I am undecided about an op on my back. It does make you think. I have not heard of one person who had a successful op for the same thing. smartgirl - 2008-06-08 00:52:00 |
