Depends on the update - could be 4 GB at most I'd guess but probably quite a lot less. nice_lady - 2021-07-22 17:51:00 |

54 | well, i left it on last night, woke it up this morning, and that bloody green screen was there. and the dots were still going around and round. nicelady, when u say technicians dont poke around or anything like that, im just a bit paranoid about the banking bit as my mother doesnt have internet and its on my bank. as for the porn. yes the man watches adult consenting porn. so i may as well tell them that i guess, casue they will see the history probably anway. IF they can get it going again. its going to cost me a lot of money probably, but its probably better than a new one for now, if they can retrieve all my photos. which wernt really important, casue im not into photos really. i will look today on line on the laptop , but are there any of those hard drive, tower things better than others.or is it better to buy a all in one screen/hardrive? any pros and cons for the all in ones? i really dont know what to do. im not a gamer , as u can tell. im not a tech wizard as u can tell. all i want to do is go to computer room and do a bit of fb, buying stuff, etc. katybaty - 2021-07-23 07:49:00 |
55 | and maybe if i could just get a few other opinion off others ,and then i will go and leave this subject alone. katybaty - 2021-07-23 07:55:00 |

So ? If you access the bank from the computer that doesn't mean a tech could as well. Do you have to type in a password to do so ? Then it's safe. If you have it set to go in 'automatically' without typing in a password then that's something you should NEVER do for bank sites anyway. katybaty wrote:
NO. The tech has no reason nor interest in looking at your websurfing history, it has nothing whatsoever do do with getting the machine going again or even with copying data off it to copy over to a new machine. Forget it. katybaty wrote:
I'm apologise but I simply can't advise you on that. It's impossible without seeing the machine. katybaty wrote:
Assuming the hard drive is ok it's very simple to retrieve any data, (photos, documents, etc), off it. katybaty wrote:
You're not going to be buying any 'all in one hard drive'. You'll be buying a COMPUTER. A 'hard drive' is a component inside the computer, (kinda like a carburettor in a car). In general most will advise you to stay away from the 'all in one' devices they are somewhat limited in how easy they can be to repair and also they're quite often low spec. I wouldn't buy one myself. katybaty wrote:
The choice between a 'desktop' or laptop computer is really quite basic. Buy a laptop if you want portability. Otherwise buy a 'tower' model of desktop computer. Whatever, get one with as the basic minimum. That'll be very capable of doing anything you need. Edited by nice_lady at 8:10 am, Fri 23 Jul nice_lady - 2021-07-23 08:06:00 |
57 | But FIRST. Try this: Shut the computer off by holding the power button down for about 10 seconds that' should shut it off. Then let it sit for 30 seconds then restart it.......and see what happens - with luck it'll go thru to Windows tho it might continue the update process first. If it goes to the update process leave it running for a couple of hours. If it's still not getting to Windows then yeah it might be time to consider a tech look at it and start thinking about Windows shopping (haha). 58 | i'd still leave it on for another 24 hours, nothing to lose but time... it might suggest to me there are issues with the hard drive in it if it's taking this long... king1 - 2021-07-23 08:28:00 |

If it takes anywhere near that long theres certainly issues with the computer for sure ! But yeah leave it on for another day or so then if it's still not getting anywhere turn it off as I've suggested then restart it..........and go from there. nice_lady - 2021-07-23 08:32:00 |
