Stupid Flipping Council ~ house numbering

Certainly the example in the link shows (the second example) three access ways numbered sequentially being 25, 25A and 27. The council hasn't replied to my second letter. I have tried again.

Furthermore, this LINZ link shows the numbering as it should be, and the examples shown show that sequential numbering is for each parcel of land. I think the TA in this instance, (New Plymouth District Council) have stuffed up.

Remember that in that example your house would have been 23. LINZ have allowed for 25 to stay 25 so long as it is before 25A. If it is after 25A it has to become 25B. The guidelines went out for consultation in early 2019. I think there may have been a suggestion that 25 could come after 25A to keep old address but that doesn't appear to have been accepted. There was no mention of taking the primary number from the lot adjacent to the subdivided one. Did you contact LINZ as well as the council?

Yes pauldw, and this was their reply. I feel like i'm going around in circles "Thank you for your email.
Street addresses are allocated by local councils. To determine why a property has been allocated a particular address you will need to contact your local council. Addresses must be allocated in accordance with the Addressing Standard, which is available for purchase from the link below (you may also wish to refer the articles linked at the bottom of the page which contain information on addressing rules but can be accessed for free):

As LINZ have stated "Addresses must be allocated in accordance with the Addressing Standard," write back to them saying that the TA isn't doing that. What will they do when you want to subdivide and 188A is already wrongly allocated?

That would be a dilemma I haven't thought of. We have a large almost quarter acre section and subdivision will certainly be on the agenda in the future. Thanks for your opinion. I have written back.
