Selling is not the issue. Building something else is. You need the permission of the other lessee to alter what is existing. Even if you want to add a deck :)

it can't block your light, privacy- there will be details at council. Just don't sign anything agreeing to anything until talked to council planners


we did that a few years ago sold to the developer as we didnt want what he
was building next to us, but where we moved to had the same happen
you can only do that so many times,we are now on a sloping section on a hill most developers arent interested as the cost to develop is higher

you may find that the councils district plan has changed to allow such an unfair invasion of light and privacy, a developer just put 34 2 storied townhouses behind me and I had no rights at all in fact its been a giant pain in the a**. Worst part is the developer is the council. I realise there is a housing shortage but its so unfair when 3 boundaries are affected and look directly into your yard and living areas.
