Personally, just the cheese sauce and macaroni is a bit too bland. For me - and I suspect others, adding bacon, capsicum, mushrooms or whatever, adds texture and makes it possible to eat a larger portion without getting bored before the palate is satisfied!

Some people like raw oysters and just tip them down their throats, claiming that they are delicious.

It's all true. Raw oysters tipped down the throat, without the shell, are delicious.

I remember rather liking macaroni cheese. I also remember the serious pain I experienced after eating it.

Only thing different that I do is add chopped hard boiled eggs to the sauce with the mac and bacon and for the topping I cut the bread into small croutons and mix in the butter and cheese, makes a better crunchy topping. Use the same topping on my potato dishes and fish pies.
