I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
51

I sorted most of my latest order yesterday, matching it up with patterns.
It was mostly baby wool at 15% off and yes over $100 so no postage.

JC Brett yarn and their patterns are lovely. I have been using the DK marble acrylic. It is so much softer than the cheap acrylics that can be sourced locally.

Has anyone tried the promotion code

KNITTER

for 10% off yet?

Good morning all you knitters. I love the new thread to match our fabric one...long may it prosper. I used to spin and knit more than sew...now it is the other way around...but yet I still can't help myself with buying wool! I am tempted by colour and texture...and loooove making tea cosies. I don't know why because I don't know how many people use teapots any more! Have a great day.

Deramores KNITTER code works.... no, I didn't buy more yarn, but I tested it... I put some JC Brett in my basket and another item. Either coupon works but not both. FYI.
Mind you, the price on the JC Brett was really good... hmmmmm......

I use a teapot. I have a 4 cup teapot that has a cupcake tea cosy for when we have visitors and a 2 cup teapot for when it's just me who wants a cuppa. That one doesn't have a cosy cos I can't find one small enough ( cupcake cosy)

Morning All... Thanks NZMU that would have been my next question, looking for soft acrylics. I will look for that one.
Im tempted by colour then texture, but being that I cant feel it, Ill be finding out over time I guess.
I got a 5% discount on my first email. I guess I better use that first till Ive had my first order or they might figure I havent had any opther codes yet.
How long do the parcels generally take to arrive? on average? Is it often they dont have things in stock? Mind you I see that it says if they have it or not.
A friend down the road has asked if we should have a duel garage sle next weekend. I was going to say no, but it will be a good way of clearing junk and boosting the wool fund lol.. OOPs.
I didnt get much knitting done yesterday. I sewed all the pieces together last night , so will stuff and put together Pa Duck today. He looks like he is going to be quite big. I must stuff my toys too well cos they are always bigger than the pattern says.
Have a good morning all.

Hi whiskey, if you'd like to give me the measurements of your tea pot, I'd be happy to make a cupcake cosy to fit your 2 cut pot! (sorry, it's a bit cheeky I know, but I hate to think of you having a naked tea pot and the tea getting cold too quickly!)

popeye - I find the parcels generally arrive in good time, i.e. 7 - 10 days. On the odd occasion (as in before Christmas it did take a bit longer, maybe 3 weeks I think).

I have had quite a lot from Deramores and only on one occasion they didn't have it in stock, in which case they sent the rest of my order and just sent the remainder when it came in.

Like you say, when you place an order it notifies you if it's in stock or not. I just assume that several people may have ordered a the same time and that's why they ran out.

I have that pattern to knit but we have just recently moved. I spent 2 years sitting in a caravan with nothing to do but knit LOL. I now have a dedicated craft room and can't find anything as it is all still in boxes........ I am looking forward to getting the knitting needles out again as I need to relax a bit now.

popeye - your knitting is really great. I want to knit some toys - just need to find the time. I also cross-stitch and I work full time which is a bit of a bu**er. However, only another 4-1/2 yrs to go. :-)

thecritic - how exciting - new house, dedicated craft room and now all the boxes to open.

Pats one good thing is the toys dont take long to do. Thats why I can get through them. I dotn work but am busy. My biggest complication is I cant sit too long cos I had a fall and stuffed my tailbone. So sitting and knitting parts is good for my hobby and my butt lol

Hi kuaka, it was you whom i bought my cupcake tea cosy from, and i would LOVE another one for my smaller pot. Thank-you so much. The measurements are 12cm wide by 12cm high but it has a big handle if you can see it in the photo.

okay whiskey, I'll see what I can do in the next couple of days, and I will "go the proper route" - it's not worth doing it any other way for the sake of a couple of dollars success fees and being "expelled" from tm!

We have had 99% of our property packed since 22 Feb 2011. Going through all the boxes has been exhausting as I've had to completely wash/clean everything is covered in fine silt dust. I am looking forward to setting up the craft room though. I have plastic containers full of all my wool but can't find my boxes of patterns and needles! We finally got a lounge suite 3 days ago so have somewhere comfortable to sit and knit after 2 years of sitting on whatever was handy at the time.

Owl Ive never used circular needles. I used to be amazed when I was a kid and mum was doing big faire Isle jumpers.
A friend knits just about everything on circular needles. shes a lovely kniiter and self taught both knitting and crocket and she does doilies etc too. Like Mum did.

I like fast results too. hence the toy knitting, which I can cope with over summer.
Winter time I used to crochet blankets. I have wool to do another blanket but its not needed at the mo, so toys it is. It feeds my habit. knit them, sell them knit more. bit like the elves and the shoe maker.

Have passed the deramores website on to one of the girls at the supermarket. I told her not to blame me if her credit card gets a hammering lol

Hello all, I'm loving this thread - I am a knitaholic, and also love cross stitch, and fabric art/quilt making, so I have several stashes!!
Currently knitting baby clothes as have a baby shower to attend next month, and 5 babies due to close friends/family between March and May, so no time for much else at present.
I do most of my knitting on circular needles and use the interchangeable Knit Pro needle tips and cables.
Have a lovely knitty day everyone :)

Another tea cosy maker here.

Teapots are very cheap - Mitre 10, Briscoes, PakandSlave all have perfectly pleasant china ones for under $10, in different sizes. So when I give a fancy tea cosy away as a present I give it with the pot that it fits. It looks like I'm being a lot more generous than I actually am!

Over time I have compiled my own compendium of tea cosy patterns and knitted flowers and decorations for them, as it can be difficult to find good versatile patterns. There are quite a few online but not all of them are up to much.

I have been knitting for years and love the fact that there's always something new to learn. I love my knit pro circulars with interchangeable tips too! I recently learned magic loop - it as way easier than I thought and will now enable me to tackle a few different projects like my socks which are coming along slowly.

What a dangerous thread trying my best not to type in Derramores.I have hand and machine knitted and done crochet for years and my stash is quite large.I aso like making handmade cards so collection of bits and piecesfill a few plastic bins.Still ladies I think it is much better than saying I am bored with nothing to do.I am about to knit some lace coat hanger covers for birthday gifts when I am watching TV I crochet blankets.I might just take a peek they may have a colour I am out of.

daleaway - I have recently knitted my first tea cosy and want to do a lot more - lol. I like your idea of giving the teapot as well. Will look out for them.

nzmu - a friend taught me magic loop to do socks from the toe up. Yes, I like knitting socks as well as tea cosies !!

jord37 - I have recently taken up card making so am also increasing my stash there too. I have told my self that I must not take up any more hobbies as I don't have enough time to do what hobbies I have now!

Morning all. I started the bonnet for the mother duck last night, didnt get a big enough ball of wool.. So have started again. Dammm.

Its the last piece then I can put her together., the tiny duckling will be easy made. its only three wee pieces I think.

Another very windy day here in Waiuku. The cover blew off the bbq overnight, and the bin went for a wander lol...
Good excuse to stay inside and knit. I was going to defrost one of the freezers, which I do by taking it to the open garage door and use the hose, but its too windy id end up soaked. So knitting it will be lol

Good morning all. Deramores is dangerous, whoever put the knitted toy site up on here recently is dangerous, teapot cosy knitting is dangerous, even tho Ive been wanting to do one and not yet. In fact, its all dangerous. Not enough hours in a day to indulge. Im knitting baby clothes, some for the grandbabies and some for BFB.Am going to try a bear as soon as my wool comes from Deramores... now thats going to be interesting. I do some stitching for quilts too, and have 2 old suitcases full of scrapbooking gear that I havent pulled out for ages. one day.... real windy in Waihi, but have to paint rooms today. :( enjoy this day.

Placed an order with Deramores, placed an order with Knitworld (their sale starts today) Credit card has taken a beating. May have to go back to work next week to pay for it.

Lol I agree it is Dangerous. But I only have a wee way to go before I will place my first order.
Sitting there deciding what to have will be fun. Im kinda thinking maybe 4 pattern books and then about $60ish on wool.
I have puss n boots finishing tonight, so that will help the funds.

Im strict on myself and make sure my hobby pays for my hobby. 90% of the time anyway.
Just listed some wee baby cardys etc. Too tiny for the baby being born in March.

Good morning everyone. Looks like another hot day here today but I still have a few boxes to unpack and wash the contents of. My craft room is taking shape (I should have taken photos before Mr Critic started ripping wall boards off). We bought a huge cabinet yesterday to store my craft treasures in, him and Miss 10 are off to buy bits and pieces today. I will post photos when it is all done. I have to set up my turtle tank today so Franklin can come home after being on holiday for nearly 2 years at a friends place.

Sounds like your getting well organized critic. We are having EQC repairs starting in March so i am packing things away not unpacking.
I really don't want to pack away my knitting things but i have to tell myself that it is only for 6-8 weeks. We bought 20 acres in September and have a 20foot container out there so non essential stuff can be stored away.
Fighting with partner as he says all my knitting stuff can be stored BUT i say its NOT non essential lol.

Knitting is an Essential... I think i would go potty if I didnt have needles and wool for 6-8 weeks. id be gadding off to the oppy to get soemthing to do. lol

I forgot to see if our oppy was open this mroning. it shuts over christmas. Mind you if I went there Id have less money for deramores lol.

Have the beak and the top shell left to do on the baby duckling. then I will sew that and the mother duck up.
I always read in the afternoon. another passion of mine. So I divide the time between the two

Tell your Partner that for most of 2011 we lived in a 13ft caravan. I had all my wool in plastic containers stacked in the back of my Partners ute which was parked on the drive (he used the other car to go to work and I don't drive), my patterns and needles were given their own drawer. When we moved into the 23ft caravan all my wool was stored in the 13ft caravan (which is where it was before the quakes) - knitting was the only thing that kept my mind occupied and I would not have coped otherwise. Good luck with your repairs.

You can always do what I do. Hide any purchases and if hubby finds it, tell him that you have had it since forever or throw up your arms and say I was wondering where I put that stash. Has worked for me with new clothes that I don't need but buy anyway.I still say that I've got nothing to wear if we need to dress up to go out lol
