morning ladies :) Wow, we're up to page 199!

I've almost finished another peuperium cardy, they sure are a quick knit. Just the sleeves to do. So that will be three done and three to go!

It is a really wet day here, thunder storms, the whole caboodle, so a perfect day for knitting. Will have to strip one of the beds at least today as son is coming home tomorrow for a few days. It was so wet yesterday, I just left the beds after the students went.

Morning ladies, oh Carolev that's no good, it's no fun at all.

Well I picked the wrong moment to go to town yesterday, just as I got in the car, the heavens opened, talk about torrential rain. I can't remember when we last rain that heavy. It didn't last long thankfully.

Had a lovely evening with my friend coming round for tea, lots of chat and some really good laughs. Have discovered her birthday is only the week before mine, so we are going to get together somewhere in between the two and go out for lunch or something.

Paul arrives this evening - he's just sent a message to say he's heading off to the airport in five minutes. I have to go to the dentist this morning and will need to pick up a wiper blade for the Safari and a new tap for the filter if I can get it. Dread to think how much that will cost. Oh well, it's only money but it's money that I could spend on something more exciting like new clothes or wool.

Hope the rain holds off as I may have to go through to Kerikeri as well as Kaikohe.

The last two days have been busy. Mr S had a fall on Tuesday and his left foot and toes a lovely shade of blue/black. Had him to the Drs. Thankful no bones were broken . This means it harder for him to move around the house.S/market shopping some today. Have a couple of projects that need to be finished in a day or so.

What a night, I don't think either of should have bothered going to bed, all we did was cough. Poor Missy was sleeping on my side at one stage and I coughed and she Flew off lol.
Wet and windy here, has been rather wild through the night. not cold tho.

I'm going to to the supermarket and the New Oppy, then Home. MrP was going to come but hes too tired.

No Sunflower I'm a one thing at a time kinda girl. I did try having two things on the go at once and I felt like I wasn't giving either thing the attention it needed lol.. 12 squares to go. I should be joining up on the weekend.

Good morning all - picked up my grandaughters blanket last night and tried to make some progress but decided it needed too much concentration so watched Outlander instead
My old boy is going through a really tough time bug at least he is home so if he can pick up a bit is more likely to do so at home - 12 months ago he was working 60 hours a week running a sawmill in Australia - he has a lung disease caught from birds -there is no cure - we have never had birds so have been puzzled how he would have caught it. At times like this you realise what lovely men your sons have grown up to be - they are flat out trying to make things as good as they possibly can for him.
He was discharged with a zillion prescriptions which my niece took up to the local unichem - just bad chance I showed him what I was giving him - I had 2 of one particular antirejection drug that had massive side effects - he queried why I was giving him 2 - checked the bottle it showed 2 - he was very uneasy so I rang hospital - the Blimmin chemist had made a mistake - as he was to take it 3 times a day the specialist said he dodged a bullett - that dose could have been lethal - rocked me a bit for sure

$340 later, that was two fillings and a good de-scale and clean. Going to have a coffee, and then do some boring housework, have a pair of jeans and a pair of leggings to shorten for me - why do they make them so long? And before I do that, I want to put clean sheets on my bed and do the washing.

Couldn't get the tap I need for the water filter, so I've got one on order, should arrive tomorrow which means another trip to Kaikohe. I could have gone through to Kerikeri but no guarantee I could get one there either, and last time I tried to get a "kit" for the filter because it was leaking, they wanted $85 in Keri. They have quoted me $60 for the complete new tap in Kaikohe.

Relax first with a coffee.

Hi All
I always tell people to double check their prescription meds. Chemists can and do make errors just like the rest of us but these can be dangerous. Have known quite a few instances of wrong prescribing when working in the community. Also Many years ago father was given a fairly strong sleeping pill instead of his asthma medications, they were a similar colour so he didn't notice until he couldn't stay awake, he had driven quite a distance though and couldn't remember anything about the trip so potentially could have been a disaster.
Do enjoy Paul's visit Kuaka, are going back with him this time?

We visited a yarn shop today they had some beautiful wools but all so expensive at about NZ$30 a skein of approx. 100gm. Did get some good ideas about dying wool as they dye quite a lot using natural dyes giving "earthy" colours.
Also visited an IKEA store which I have heard of but not been to before, it was huge and I can see how people get enthused by them there was so many things for the home but couldn't think how I could fit any flat pack stuff into a suitcase lol.
Hope Mr Sunflowers foot returns to normal quickly.

It was such a wet day yesterday so I finished the peuperium (sp) cardy and a matching pair of hug booties. They are in the same pink as the roses I embroidered on the white baby blanket so I embroidered white roses on the front of the cardy and on the turn over bit of the hug booties. makes quite a nice wee set :). Just need more buttons lol, will buy some when outing and abouting :)

Morning ladies, well Paul arrived safely last night and while I was on the phone to my sister I heard loud movements in the lounge and when I poked my head in, saw Paul busy re-arranging the furniture and he had taken the big heavy treadmill downstairs (I want to sell it) and moved a man-robe out of the main bedroom into the little bedroom which was something I had planned to do. He suggested I move the big formal dining room suite from the kitchen/diner into the lounge, and make that a formal dining room and get a more casual table and chairs for the kitchen/diner which makes sense. So I think we will be shifting more furniture over the weekend. I don't know where he gets his energy from because after all the furniture shifting he cooked a bbq.

He's on his way to Auckland for meetings and will be back tonight, then I believe he's back to Auckland for meetings Monday and Tuesday.

We need to see a photo of the latest baby set kiwimade as it sounds lovely.

Paul suggested last night that as I haven't booked my return from Brisbane yet, I should consider going to Heathrow and staying with my sister for a couple of weeks, instead of coming home. Something to think about.

Had another rough night, well early morning. I have no energy at all. Tired from the heart racings and the coughing. Ive showered but haven't put my hair up, which takes a lot of over the head effort with it being soo long. I have to try and rest cos I feel as low as I was when I had shingles.

I have washing on and it will go straight into the dryer

I have 6 squares left to do. So I will get them done today. Probably wont lay it out till tomorrow... Then the fun part of joining them up.. I enjoy that. And at least it will be on one colour unlike my red and white one having to use both.

Morning ladies, what a busy day I had yesterday. I brought one leather chair back upstairs which Paul had taken downstairs (he thought it was going to be sold but I want to keep that particular one) I also rescued one of my old knitting machines which I want to keep, so pushed that under the billiard table, as it was in the "for sale" pile, then I shifted a drop leaf table from the lounge and put it in the family room, moved the formal dining table and 6 chairs into the lounge, washed the floor of the kitchen/diner, put the drop leaf table in it, brought two chairs up from the billiard room to go with the table, then I lugged 2 x 40 litre bags of potting mix up to the deck, and then I sat for a while, too stuffed to do anything else.

After lunch I went to Kaikohe to pick up the tap for the filter, and then grocery shopping. Think it will be jobs around the house like the tap and the element in the stove, it's chucking it down, so definitely won't be any outdoor jobs - well not unless the rain stops.

Paul is still asleep - he must be exhausted. He says he plans to drive to Auckland Monday, back Monday night, and then drive to Auckland again on Tuesday and back. I think it would make more sense to stay down there, but he says he's sick of staying in motels on his own and prefers to spend time with his family.

I have some sewing to do so must try to get that done today, and hopefully find time to do some knitting or crochet.

morning ladies :) I like Paul's idea kuaka of you spending time with your sister, it's even summer (do they have summer in England? lol) over there. I do wonder now they have voted to leave the EU what is going to happen, interesting political times.

I'll take a pic of the set as soon as I buy and sew buttons on the peuperium cardy. I found enough buttons to sew onto the purple one, I must have bought them for another knitting project and then never used them.

I'm knitting another pair of 'hug boots' for a friend who is about to become a dad for the second time in the same pink so that will use the end of the skein. These booties are brilliant as they can't be kicked off by baby. I knitted them for another friend who had a baby boy nine weeks ago and she loved them for that reason. Here's a link to the pattern, so simple to knit in double knitting wool. I use 3.5mm needles so slightly smaller for the smallest size.

I actually slept for 6 hours straight , was awake for about an hour and then had another couple of hours.. I felt really good last night.. Sore again this morning. but Ive taken some pain meds. It got cooler through thr night cos Missy slept on me all night, and didn't mind when I pulled the blankets up over her butt cos my hand was cold holding her.

Well I laid the blanket out. Even had the camera in the room with me.. But forgot to take the pictures lol.
Was very hard on my back, so I wasn't tempted to relay them out again.

Out of 144 squares I did 4 in the same colours, with 3 of them being the same order. And another 2 that were matching colours but different orders.

The ones I thought I may have made similar weren't, so that was good.

Right time to start putting them together.

Its quite cool here, cool enough that I put the heater on.. And I have my hair down even lol

Afternoon ladies, well I now have a nice shiny new tap on the water filter on the sink, and it is so much easier to operate than the old one was, and my little oven (the top oven of the double wall oven) is now operational again. I don't know what I would do without Paul - he is just awesome - well actually he's a lot like his Dad but without the cursing and swearing that used to accompany some difficult jobs! Now he is trying to get the lawn mower working. First thing he discovered is that the air filter was clogged up and when he touched it, it just disintegrated, so looks like I'll be shopping for a new air filter if the rest of the mower is salvageable.

I've just put a casserole in the oven - haven't been able to cook one for about 3 months as I didn't want to use the big oven for just a small casserole.

And now I hear the lawn mowing running. Awesome.

Took 4 yr old to laundromat this am while her mother was working and managed to nearly knit a beanie whilst waiting for the washing and drying, she was happy playing with her toy rabbits. Son goes home today, so will do housework afterwards. The two dogs have been going nuts chasing each other around and around, they certainly enjoy each other's company.

I've been knitting booties and have started another peuperium cardy. Will be very pleased to finish them and move onto something else. But it is such a useful pattern so worth doing. I was given some green wool and found a couple of frog buttons so stitched them onto the front of the hug booties, hopefully I can find more frog buttons for the cardy to make another set.

Morning ladies, not a good night, I woke at 2 and couldn't get back to sleep, was well after 5 when I dozed off again.

Not sure what the day will bring, at least it's not raining at the moment and doesn't feel all that cold.

The news on the lawnmower isn't so great though, although Paul got it running it needs a new blade and he can't get the old one off, he says it's dangerous the way it is, as it's about to disintegrate, and it also has a blocked jet in the carb and the spark plug needs replacing, but the main problem is he can't get the old blade off - he thinks he will wreck the shaft in doing so. Might have to shop for a new mower.

Today I must do the sewing that I didn't do yesteday, and hopefully will get some knitting done. Still have to arrange travel insurance and finish packing I'm getting excited.

Good morning. Well, it all turned to custard, the last couple of day. Washing machine packed up on Friday. It was a good little workhorse. About 25ys old.Did quick shop.Purchased a washing machine on Saturday.
We had rain and it poured down all day Sat\Good for gardens,but not for my cold.
Wrapping up my loom at present.So spend time on that over the last couple of days aside from resting.
Today we have a sunny day, so have done two loads.

Did a couple of my squares for a cushion cover, while watching Coro.
Sounds like lots of changes going on in your home at present kuaku.

Time to move and see what happen out in the kitchen,hear dishes moving about by Mr S,

morning ladies :) Must be the 'season' for things breaking down sunflowers, our microwave has been slowly dying for a while now and yesterday glowed pretty yellow and orange inside it when I used it, even had sparks. So I guess I'll be microwave shopping soon too. MrK has cut the cord so no one can use it and now to find out how to dispose of it.

Another wet day today but need to do housework as we have more students arriving Wednesday. I've been putting off doing it until closer to the time they arrive, no point doing housework twice in one week lol.

I've almost finished the little green peuperium cardy and hopefully sometime today I can buy more frog buttons. Will also buy some buttons for the pink one. I need to go into town for some milk anyway.

Our very first microwave cost $1000 (yep!!) and MrK bought it for me for our 1st wedding anniversary. It lasted at least 25 years (was a national Panasonic, big huge thing!) before it died. The next one lasted three years and this one around another 3 years. They just aren't made to last, such a waste really.

Housework is almost done, just have to vacuum. Have the Furry and Fluffy Ones sitting in front of the cupboard where the vacuum is - how on earth do they know I'm vacuuming soon? At the rate I'm going I'll be knitting soon.

Morning everyone.
Wet wild and windy here. There's a row od empty (Thank goodness) recycle bins blown over down the street... Not easy to stand up again in the horrid wind we have.

Our first microwave was a wee 500 watt one. I have seen them glow pretty colours and smoke, my last one did it while I was popping some of that popcorn that comes in the packets. Had friends here and the two blokes sat on the couch and carried on watching the movie id put on, while my friend and I dealt with the smoke and machine etc.
The one I have now is 8 years old next month. its a Samsung and I really like it. My friend has the same.

I got another block of my blanket joined yesterday, and have it pinned to the first block. but Madam decided it was a good night to sit on my knee. So it didn't get joined. Perfect day to do it today lol.

Glad I don't have to go out in it again.

Morning ladies, well it's lovely and sunny here, but very cold and a bit windy. We had a very busy day yesterday, reorganised the furniture in the front bedroom (that's the main one) and then Paul carried a huge armchair downstairs (ready to sell) and moved another one from the lounge into the family room. He tidied up the workshop and then had another go at the lawnmower, but the verdict is that it is a very sick lawnmower. It needs a new magneto and while he was working on it the back axle broke, the handles are about to disintegrate so I think it's time to start looking at new ones. Bit of a nuisance really, but we've had this one a long long time.

We had a very late bbq lunch and then had a couple of frames of snooker. Paul has just left to drive to Auckland and will be back tonight. I plan to do some chores outside today (if I don't freeze to death) and go to the club for an hour around 5.30 (just in the hope of winning the membership draw - have to be there to collect if your number is drawn), and then cook a roast for tea.

I've just finished scanning a couple of patterns I want to take with me, so I now have them on the ipad, which I will take. I had to scan them and then email them to myself - couldn't figure out any other way to do it. If there is another way, I don't know it.

I will try to finish most of my packing today.

KUAKA- when you look along the top of your iPad when you have a web page open with the pattern there is a box with an arrow sticking out the top - click on it - then move the choices along side wards until you see save pdf to iBooks - I think it is an orange tab - second to last I think -you will see it gives you the choice to email Facebook and other things -hope that helps

Thanks for that gerry - I have discovered the ibook thingey on the ipad, and I'm sure I will use it and find it useful but the patterns I scanned this morning were in a book (a normal hard copy book) which I have, and I couldn't figure out any other way of getting them onto the ipad. I tried to photograph them with the camera on the ipad, but I had to use it sideways and each time I turned the ipad of course the photo turned also, and it was too hard to read.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be having too much fun most of the time to be bothered knitting - although Paul says that I should take my knitting as most of the time I'm in Sydney I'll be on my own as his wife and son are in Thailand at the moment visiting friends. Bit unfortunate the timing of this trip but it might be months before he's over again.

Kuaku, When do you fly out with Paul? Is it this week. I could do with someone as handy as Paul around the place. I know I will get the jobs done,but will take a bit longer now. We are doing an ex-State house up.which we brought some time ago.

morning ladies :) Hope MrG is home soon Gerry. We have a 40 minute commute to Waikato Hospital so I know how stressful it can be trying to juggle the budget for petrol. You may be able to claim milage from the Health Dept, just ask at the ward reception.

Looks like we're in for another rough day today weather wise and I need to grocery shop. Our next group of students arrive tomorrow so I've been putting it off until closer to their arrival.

Here's a pic of the wee cardy and booties I knitted, was sheer fluke the pink was the same as my embroidered rose buds on the blanket. Have knitted four of these cardigans now, another two to go with one on the needles.

I'm halfway through joining the blanket up. Looks like it will be 1.5meters square. Missy didn't require my knee last night lol.

Have to nip up the road for a couple of things this morning and Ill do my INR even tho its not quite due. Then I will have up to date results for the cardiologist on Thursday.

Have bread baking, and the machine had wobbled itself to one corner off the bench.. So Ill have to A check the feet on it.. and B make sure its propped with a slight backwards lean next time I use it lol.

Its fine at the mo, not cold.

Morning all - beautiful morning - will see if I can get the old dog to go for a bit of a walk this morning. I am very lucky one of my sons has done extremely well in business so he not only arrived with lots of lovely things to eat but he took my car and filled it up as well - took my sewing machine away to get serviced and gave me a voucher to get new driving glasses - the old boy drove all the time - I haven't driven for a year which I now realise was a stupid thing to do - not sure why I am nervous was driving in Sydney up until the day we shifted home

Going to finish this rabbit today - just knitting her bloomers - found a little ball of buttercup yellow - fingers crossed it wasn't too small of a ball

Good morning Ladies - I didn't realise just how difficult it can be for folks living away from large centres to have access to hospitals, etc. I do feel for those of you who are dealing with loved ones in that situation. I thought it was bad enough when hubby had open heart surgery last year and it took me about 30mins to get to Auck Hospital - and I live in Auck - that's Auck traffic for you!
Kiwimade - love your latest knits. I have started a seamans hat, will post a pic when it's finished.
Kuaka - Have a wonderful holiday. It will be lovely to sit back and relax for a change. Are you going on to the UK? Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time.

morning all another dull overcast day here. love the knitted set kiwimade and the colour is just lovely too. yesterday decided to drag the spinning wheel out, haven't done it for 20 years so spent the day giving it a service so today I can sit and play with it hopefully it will be like riding a bike haha have so many projects on the go thought I would have more time since I have retired but not the case seem to be even busier
