Morning everyone Off to the super clinic today, to see if after 3 years they will fix MrP's hernias. The last time he went is when they said he would need his aortic valve replaced, well we can Tick That off the list lol Not sure if Ill take my crochet with me. Doing multiple colours means having scissors and a lot of changing. so I think Ill leave it at home Ohh its just started raining, and its gently just falling straight down. Will stock up on meat etc on the way home. Yay.. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-06-16 08:02:00
morning ladies :) Wow, this is the foggiest day so far this winter. Might get out and start weeding anyway, no biggie, just wrap up and wear a beanie. We have more students arriving Sunday so want the place looking nice. I've sewn buttons on the two wee cardys I've knitted for the two babies due soon in our family. Will take a photo when the light is better and post pics. Last evening I knitted a bit more towards the baby blanket, one and three quarter squares to go. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-16 08:13:00
Morning ladies, well that is weird. I posted a message half an hour ago (or thought I did) and it's not showing. I upgraded to Windows 10 last night and it looks to have gobbled my message. Well it's foggy here this morning too and last night the fire was just about out before I went to bed so this morning I've got the heat pump going. It's good but not as good as the woodfire for warming the place up. I've just started on a crochet animal puzzle and it is looking a bit daunting so wish me luck. I'm hoping to do the markets when they start up again in August so I'm looking for things that are a bit different from what everyone else has. Course if they take me too long to make then it won't be any use as I'll never be able to sell them for what they're worth. No plans for today other than shorten some trousers (two pairs of leggings and a pair of jeans for me and another pair for the chap I did the last two pairs for). And housework/tidy up of course. Boring! Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-06-16 08:48:00
Good morning Everyone. A late start this morning everything was white first thing this morning Went to K & N yesterday morning . Enjoyed the company, After lunch, our Lawnmower/gardener came around. We cleaned up the wood around the place . Now have a good pile of cut wood for the fire. Need to order some as well. He is a keen young man starting out on his own in business. Put my own knitting aside while I knit a hat and fingerless mittens for my friend. She was so good and kind to us both. Off today to get the wool and pattern. Enjoy your day. sunflowers28 - 2016-06-16 10:48:00
Well its been a long day. He will be having his hernia repaired under local anaesthetic, and it will be 3-4 months. YAY. Am rather tired tonight, so I don't think it will be a late night. popeye333 - 2016-06-16 17:34:00
Morning ladies, it's a lovely still clear morning (so far) although I see fog forming at the top of the harbour. It needn't head this way as I'm off to Whangarei this morning, shopping and then going to an old friend of Mr Ks for lunch. Won't stay there too long because tonight I'm out to a friends for tea. So a busy day planned and I had better get myself organised as I want to get away fairly early so I can get all my shopping done and not be too late for lunch. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-06-17 07:39:00
morning ladies. The traffic is flowing, Friday is the busiest day for Field Days. Yesterday was pretty miserable weather wise until late afternoon so I managed to do quite a bit on this baby blanket. Should finish it soon. Here's a pic of the little short sleeved cardy I knitted from the pattern maidy found for me. Our daughter has someone in mind to give it too as it will be too small for our grandy. Will definitely be knitting this again for our grandy though. Am very happy with the colour way :), now I need some fine days to finish dyeing the rest of the wool. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/488355019.jpg And a wee peuperium (sp?) cardy for the new baby. The photo doesn't do the colour justice, it's a gorgeous rich teal and the buttons have little teal butterflies on them. Might embroider some butterflies onto the cardy, will see how I go. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-17 07:45:00
morning all. nice clear day here no fog like the man on the telly said we had carolev - 2016-06-17 08:33:00
Morning everyone We had an early night, last night and I feel quite refreshed again. Have to go do some errands up the road, including the groceries, which I didn't get around to yesterday. Then Ill visit with my crochet hook. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-06-17 09:35:00
Good morning - that little cardie pattern is lovely kiwimade - have downloaded it - one year we went to field days - they bused us in from the airport as there was no parking but didn't tell us we had to walk out - damn near killed me - well it would of today as I have the gout - might get the rabbit shoes finished today won't be able to go out to hospital that's for sure gerry64 - 2016-06-17 09:44:00
That hit at the Field days is horrendous... They should let someone like the scouts etc run a taxi service on the back of a small tractor up the hill. Ouchies Gout is nasty Gerry. Thankfully mines under control with meds. I used to get it in my ankles. My errands are done, meat is put away. We have three Very full freezers now. Now time for a play on here popeye333 - 2016-06-17 12:53:00
What do you take off your gout Popeye - I have been relying on putting my foot up when I get it - drinking cherry juice and having the old boy run around after me - he was always the hale and hearty one - now he is crook I am going to start keeping myself more mobile gerry64 - 2016-06-17 17:51:00
I take Allopurinol Gerry.. It means I can eat everything that used to make my gout worse. ' My mothers was Tomatoes. MrP was always the sick one in our house, Ive caught up now lol popeye333 - 2016-06-17 17:55:00
Have been without computer for 2 days - it decided to throw a hissy fit and we couldn't get it to do anything! Love your 2 knits Kiwimade especially the short sleeved one. Have finally finished my first knitting projects since my thumb op tinybaldone - 2016-06-17 19:11:00

morning ladies, should be nice for the last day of Field Days. traffic is slowing down a tad now too. Thank you for the nice comments on the cardys ladies. Lovely Gerry, the lucky kiddies who receive the cuddle rugs. I like the black and white variegated one especially. Just have the long sides of the baby's blanket to do now so should finish it while watching the rugby tonight. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-18 08:20:00
Morning ladies, I got home safely yesterday around 4.45, just had time for a cuppa, fed the cat and did the dishes and then went out to a friends for tea. Lovely meal, lovely to catch up on all the news, (this is a friend I had lost touch with for years, and who recently moved from the Bay of Plenty and now lives just up the road from me). I went to Spotlight and returned some yarn I decided I didn't want, and bought some fabric. On the way home realised I hadn't used the discount voucher I had. Went to Arthurs and got a few things, went and had a cheap haircut at one of the "no appointment" places. Sat down to wait and cast on two stitches and it was my turn. $24 with my goldcard discount but my card didn't work first time and when she re-did it she forgot to give me the discount so $28 I discovered when I got home. Never mind. It's more than that in Keri even with the discount. Then the Warehouse then to a friends for lunch. I was knackered after 3 nights of waking at 4am, so had to stop on the way home and pull off the road and close my eyes for five minutes. Didn't sleep but felt refreshed. Today I must do the vacuuming, tomorrow maybe some gardening. Looks like rain clouds rolling in, but at the moment it is sunny and cold. The lawns need doing but they never dry out enough. Have a super day everyone. Edited by kuaka at 8:35 am, Sat 18 Jun kuaka - 2016-06-18 08:34:00
Morning everyone. Love the cuddle rugs Tinybaldone... I'm having a quiet day today.. No housework just crochet and I need to take pictures of this left over sock wool I got. My SIL wanted some sock wool but not full packs so Ill list the ones I don't like on here. I have to look at some hat patterns too for 3 kids ages 2-4-11, for next winter. So Ill have a nosey and see what I have. Grey and dull here. Town is very quiet. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-06-18 09:42:00
Morning all - beautiful day here in Napier - - my son pops in every day - yesterday he came to take me out to lunch - he couldn't see why I wasn't keen to go to a restaurant with one shoe only - the gout foot just won't squeeze into anything more than a sock gerry64 - 2016-06-18 10:32:00
Gerry I was barefooted at my mothers funeral service.. Couldn't get shoes on at that stage, cos my gout was usually in my ankles. I didn't care what people thought. If they had a problem with it then that was their problem not mine. I know Mum wouldn't have cared, since she was a gout sufferer too popeye333 - 2016-06-18 12:16:00
That reminded me Popeye of years ago going old shoes to my grandaughters kindy Xmas party one shoed - she thought she needed to tell everybody I had the gout - as most people think you get it from the booze and we were new to the area had a chuckle to myself imagining them all thinking I was a boozer gerry64 - 2016-06-18 13:32:00
Lol Gerry... Yeah it used to be known as The Rich Mans disease.. The one who had banquettes of lots of red meat, seafood/shell fish and wines etc. Ive just spent two hours getting some pictures onto my computer. For some reason it was having a hissy fit. But Ive finally been able to get them done popeye333 - 2016-06-18 13:56:00
Good day All Well we have stopped moving for the time being. The train was a fantastic experience, seats very roomy with foot rests and good reclining and heaps of leg space so we were quite comfortable even for sleeping. The views were great went through the Rockies and although no snow they were still impressive then the next day through the Sierras which I thought were the best. In between was some very flat and arid land certainly gave an idea of how huge America is. Now catching up on sleep, washing etc as we are here in Berkely, San Fransisco for a couple of weeks for niece's work. Did a couple of beanies on the train, only saw one other lady knitting and one doing embroidery to fill in the time. Do hope your gout settles quickly Gerry, not a fun thing to get. jayemtoo - 2016-06-18 15:11:00
Thank you for all the lovely comments, ladies. The lovey blankies are very popular with the littlies - have made several for the grands and great grands of my friends and neighbours in our village. The wee ones hate to be parted from them, and they are easy to make! tinybaldone - 2016-06-18 18:39:00

Morning ladies, bit cool here this morning, but there's no wind and looks like it could be a nice day. I'm hoping to get some gardening done this morning, and make a start on the blind for the office, and start prepping the en suite for painting. Decided I should try to get a coat of paint on the walls before Paul arrives as I've got a new wall light for him to put up and it makes sense to paint the wall first so I don't have to paint around the light or remove it. Don't see me getting everything done today so I better not waste too much time on here but get cracking. The list of jobs for Paul to do when he is here is getting longer. I tried to start the petrol mower yesterday. No go. It usually starts so easily but of course has just sat languishing for a long time, so probably needs a bit of an overhaul. Paul says he will look at it. Don't know what I'd do without his visits. Looking forward to the time when he retires in the area - if I'm still around when that happens. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2016-06-19 08:00:00
morning ladies :) We have a busy day as well, our students arrive this afternoon. Hopefully the weather will be fine so we can get out and about. I finished the baby blanket and am very happy with the results. Lots of positive feedback on FB which is lovely. I now have five more little peuperium (sp) cardy's to knit so that will be three for daughter and three for nephew's partner. Might knit a couple more wee things for both babies and stop the baby knitting for a while. Good luck with the painting and blind making kuaka, I still have the bedrooms to paint here, Might do that over the summer months. I could begin stripping the wallpaper next month when we aren't quite so busy.... hmmm... now there's an idea. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-19 08:09:00
Morning everyone Wow Jayemtoo, I wish I was sitting in the seat next to you lol... What an awesome trip. I bet you will do some more of those cool booties Kiwimade lol My day started very roughly. The worst pain Ive had in my back for quite a while. So I took pain killers and stayed in bed another hour and a bit to give the meds time to work. I didn't crochet at all yesterday. It took me tow hours to get photos to upload on here. But that's all done now. So I think today will be crochet and some gentle walking. Don't want to seize up. Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-06-19 09:39:00
Popeye I sympathise with you re back pain. I was hospitalised a couple of weeks ago with agonising pain in my back, couldn't mobilise at all. It is still sore, but not agony thank goodness. Luckily my daughter is an Occupational Therapist, so I have all the aids, but back pain like that makes me quite helpless for a week or two. I am so lucky I live with them. They have just sold their house, so the hunt is on for somewhere else. Trying to get back into my knitting, but can't seem to get motivated at the moment, don't know why. Take care all. rosynana - 2016-06-19 10:15:00
morning all. no news carolev - 2016-06-20 06:49:00
Morning ladies, a busy day yesterday, I started off by spraying the weeds in the "side driveway" which isn't concreted or tar-sealed, so just a haven for weeds, then I raked up the leaves off the lawn and swept the main driveway - that's a job and a half in itself, then I sanded the ceiling and walls of the en suite, then I mowed the little lawn out the back (I use the electric mower for that). Then I cooked tea and sat, and was in bed and asleep by 9.30, and slept till 6 this morning. Today I want to paint the en suite and if it needs a second coat I can do that on Thursday. I'm not sure if I have enough paint for a second coat but I can get some tomorrow. So a cup of tea and a few rows of knitting then I'll get dressed in my old clothes and get started. Looks like fog outside this morning, it's getting thicker by the minute. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2016-06-20 07:28:00
morning ladies :) Wow kuaka, you have been busy! Satisfying though to have it done. We're off to walk the Arapuni Suspension Bridge, then maybe the Blue Springs walk and then we'll walk the boys across the Karapiro Dam on the way home. We'll find a nice spot to have a picnic lunch too. So a busy day but not in any hurry as we have them for two full days this time instead of one. We want to show them big wide spaces :). I unpicked the sleeve of the peuperium cardy I knitted, the yarn was awful, went from being lovely to knit to knotted and frayed so my knitting looked very uneven. Will have another go tonight if I have the energy! happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-20 08:26:00
Morning everyone, going to be a lovely day. I agree Rosynana, back pain drains you.. I was sore again this morning but the pain meds are dealing better with it now I have a supply in my system. I also had 6 episodes of waking up with a racing heart, and that drains you too. But I'm seeing my cardiologist next week so don't need to see the dr. I know how to slow myself down. But I'm assuming my meds aren't working like they should be. Well I did 8 squares yesterday.. The most Ive done in a day on this blanket. 28 to go.. Then I can start joining them up. After spreading them out on MrP's bed. Its high so is easier for me to lay them out on.. So long as I keep Missy from "Helping" me. I have to nip up the road for milk, so will do that after Ive been on here. Have fun doing your "Tiki" tours Kiwimade. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-06-20 09:37:00
Goodmorning from sunny Napier. Knitting wise I started a pair of fingerless gloves Saturday for a friend for just been there for me.Good to see everyone busy with hooks or needles Enjoy your day everyone!! Edited by sunflowers28 at 11:21 am, Mon 20 Jun sunflowers28 - 2016-06-20 11:20:00
In the same boat sunflower - my old boy is still over in Hastings hospital while they go through the rigmarole of getting his home oxygen organised - I am just thankful our son is able to do all the driving backwards and forwards to see him - the cost of the petrol would dent our budget for sure gerry64 - 2016-06-20 12:34:00
Well, I finally got back into my knitting. I am knitting a black jersey for my granddaughters partner. Why do they love black so much!!!! I really enjoyed it too. Popeye what medication do you take for your back? I am taking a mixture of paracetamol, codeine, and ibuprofen, but can't take ibuprofen for long, cos it is so not good for me. Was just curious as to what you take. Lovely warm day here today, got some shopping done, and prepared the dinner for everyone, chicken, roast veges, gravy. Have a great day everyone for Tuesday. rosynana - 2016-06-20 19:20:00
morning all. started a jacket for the wee man last night, carolev - 2016-06-21 07:00:00
morning ladies :) had a very busy day yesterday with lots of walking. Was the perfect day for it though with no wind and sunny skies. Today we're off to the beach and the students want to do some shopping so we'll pop into the mall. Have the crockpot all organised for dinner so just vegies to do when we get back. I knitted one sleeve on the peuperium cardy, one more to do. It's a bit of a fiddle with circular needles as the sleeves are quite small so I added a couple of extra stitches under the arm to make it a bit easier. I might get the knitting part finished this evening and buy some buttons tomorrow after taking the students to catch their bus. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-21 08:41:00
Morning everyone Rosynana I take Panadol and codeine 30mg's.. I cant take anything with brufen in or any anti inflams, cos I'm on warfarin. I cant even use voltaren emugel cos theres no way of knowing how much will get into my system. My pain is manageable today thank goodness. Only 24 squares to go... already starting to think about what Ill make next. I don't really have any idea... MrP will hit the roof if I do another blanket lol.. the one I'm doing will be on here tho. It was just to make use of all my nuggets. I'm playing Yarn chicken a lot and its fun lol Have a fab day all popeye333 - 2016-06-21 09:39:00
Morning Everyone,Very grey sky this morning and cooler. Gerry64 sorry to hear your Mr G still in the hospital. It's pain we have to go across to Hastings for hospital services. Kiwimade sounds like you are enjoying having the students to stay.I t nice to knit for our little people. Everyone enjoy your day. Have No idea what today will bring for me.. | 9894 | phew, what a day lol. Our students went for paddle (and so did I lol) and omg the water was cold lol. But they have some amazing photos to take home, lots of selfies of course and I videoed them climbing over the rocks as well (using their cameras). MrK is going to cook the vegies, the boys have crashed in their room(s) and I'm going to knit for a while. kiwimade64 - 2016-06-21 17:31:00
Morning Please keep the Napier weather sunny Sunflower and Gerry as I am really loving the Californian weather and not looking forward to cold again. It is perfect here mid 20s during the day and coolish nights. I'm also loving the fresh stone fruit and melons at this time of the year. We are staying in a little studio flat for a week instead of moving around quite as much so more time to relax and therefore getting more knitting done. Googled yarn shops last evening, there are a couple around here so may manage to get there at some stage, the on line photos are very tempting. Have a good day all jayemtoo - 2016-06-22 02:46:00
morning ladies, it's bucketing down with rain so am very glad we had the two days we had with the students. They are off to Rotorua today. On my way home from dropping them off I'll call into the cemetery as it was mum's anniversary the other day. Once home, will strip beds and remake (next group arrive on Tuesday, son arrives Friday) and then maybe some more knitting. Think I deserve some 'down' time for a bit! Sounds like you are having an awesome time jayemtoo, it may be wet here but very warm, still heading towards 18 degrees today in the Waikato! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2016-06-22 06:35:00

Morning everyone Wow Jayemtoo it sounds like your having a lovely time over there. Yep Kiwimade I reckon a few down/me days sounds good. Its quite tiring with all the travel, but also mentally trying to make sure that you are understood and they understand you too. I did 6 squares yesterday, just have to sew the ends in on one.. So 18 to go. Yay. Nothing planned here today.. Only dinner lol Pork slices and alfredo, which is one of my faves. YUMMM lol. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2016-06-22 09:37:00
Morning ladies. Phew! I've just put the second coat of paint on the ceiling and walls of the en suite. I must admit I'm a bit knackered now, and I still have to do some housework and tidy up as I've invited a friend round for tea, thought I'd better seeing I was at hers on Friday. It's knit and natter but I can't be bothered going, it's raining so I cancelled the window cleaner who was due at 9 this morning. Always seems to rain when he's due. I have to go to town later to check the mail, post a package and I suppose I had better do something about getting some ozzie $$$ or find out what's the best way to spend money over there. I might need a nana nap this afternoon seeing as I was awake before 4 and got up not long after. I'm just having a feet up and cup of tea break, then I will shower, I think I have paint in my hair, I know I have some on my elbow. I get the impression it's not cold here but seeing as the fire was going when I got up, I just put some more wood on, it's cheering me up on this miserable day even if it's not really needed. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2016-06-22 10:34:00
Wow you have been Busy Kuaka... I prefer to work in the mornings then relax in the afternoon. Ive done one square but will get more done later.. Its going to be really interesting to see if Ive done any double ups, purely by accident. cos I'm trying to be random, and that's not something I'm good at lol Perfect day for being inside popeye333 - 2016-06-22 12:14:00
