| 9810 | morning ladies, warm here too carole, just wearing jeans and a t shirt. Hoods do seem to take forever, kinda like knitting the back all over again. MrK spotted a family of pukekos yesterday, dad, mum, and three chicks. Crazy that chicks are being born now. I'm beavering away on the cardy, playing yardage chicken now lol. What is it about this cardy! Have decided to make it short sleeved as it's quite heavy with the triple knit and the wool I am using is 'prickly' even after using fabric softener in the last rinse. I know our grandy will keep taking it off it she is too hot. At least with short sleeves she can still wear a skivvie underneath and still have something warmer covering her back and front. After a couple of "firm" phonecalls the glass company are outing the glass on the courier this morning. It should be here by lunchtime and they will put it in straight away. The only thing we have run out of is still Missys bikkies, and close to the juice for MrP breakfast.. Its wet and warm here and still dark lol I have had some strawberries brewing over night, so will cook them this morning into Jam. It will only be a couple of jars, but I don't like to waste anything.. I have no idea where they came from lol. | 9812 | Morning ladies, well the weather is still miserable, what my uncle would call "mizzle" - it can't decide whether it's mist or drizzle, but it's pretty gloomy and damp. Didn't have a good day yesterday, but hopefully today will be better. I lit the fire late afternoon to cheer myself up and it was so hot I promptly fell asleep in the chair after tea and didn't wake till after 11pm. Have some sewing to do this morning - determined to line these bedroom curtains and then shopping this afternoon. Sold the shorter curtains yesterday, listed them on fb as "cherry red chintz" and the woman who came for them said "oh I thought they would be bright red" and then said "they look a bit like chintz" - yeah, well that's probably because they are chintz and they're not bright red 'cos they're cherry red which is what I'd said they were. Some people. Anyway she took them. Must get on and do some knitting, don't seem to be able to settle to do anything at the moment. The last of a couple of days has been full on.Had our mower guy in yesterday so spend time outside doing a catch-up. lawn seed was sown under a couple of fruit trees. I raked up leaves for the bin. Not many left on the trees now.Fixed the double gate,which took some time. Bolts on one side had pulled out from the wall. Now pleased that fixed. Mainly for safety reasons. | 9816 | Morning ladies, we have thick fog this morning, but it's very low and I can see out over the top of it. Looks like the road below me and the harbour has been cloaked in cotton wool. I can see the houses on the top of the hills opposite. Think the sun will come out soon and the fog will disappear. Well I ran out of puff before I finished the second lining. Just have to do the hem on it and attach it to the curtain, (hook it on with curtain hooks) then I can put the hooks up for the tie backs, and put the drill away. Be pleased to get it finished. Went grocery shopping yesterday afternoon, then went to see a friend for a coffee, and we went to the club and an hour and a half. Only had one drink each but it made a change. | 9818 | Morning everyone, So I finally managed to get some groceries. Will do the banking and blood tests on Monday. As it was hosing down yesterday. The car fitted in the garage but it blocks off my pantry, so Ill take it outside everyday. Missy spent a lot of time with it lol.. Was warm when I went to bed overnight, but it must have cooled down at some stage cos the windows were wet. We have some blue sky Yay. I Have loaded the back up with stuff to take to the recycling shop this morning. Getting that out of the way makes a difference too. I made two lovely jars of deep red strawberry jam yesterday.. Took about 10 mins of boiling lol. And of course I couldn't get into the pantry to get lids or jam covers. So I put glad wrap on them with a rubber band. And put them in the fridge. The Furry One is snuggled up with one of the students, once more he has the adoration of three teenage girls just as he expected. Omg he was such a showoff last night lol. I started knitting a pair of booties and had three teenage girls sitting at my feet watching me lol. They had never seen anything like it and were fascinated. Just as well I made no mistakes! I've been asked by one of mrK's mates to knit him a beanie in Waikato colours. He thinks it's a huge joke as I'm a massive Crusaders fan. I'm going to put the biggest pom-pom on it I can make lol. | 9827 | Oops, was going to say morning ladies, but I see it's afternoon. Didn't sleep well last night - well I did in the chair - but I only slept till 2am in bed, and have been awake ever since. I'm trying to make a Roman blind out of the curtain that the previous cat clawed to bits. I have enough fabric but trying to cut it straight is proving to be a bit of a nightmare. Apparently Roman blinds need straight sides and bottoms to look any good, because you have to sew seams straight across them to form the pleats. I don't know how many times I've measured, and re-measured, and I'm using a huge "square", but it still doesn't look right. Grrrr! I won't be able to finish it today because I need a piece of timber for a batten so will have to go to the timber merchant tomorrow. It has finally stopped looking miserable outside, but it's still overcast, the rain has stopped, the mizzle has lifted. Bit different from yesterday which was a fabulous day. We had a wonderful day yesterday in Taupo, and I visited Lincraft to buy more wool to finish off the baby blanket as well as make an adult's beanie. I picked up their 'VIP' card and it's a points system. Still have to figure out about redeeming the points but looks good. I have a few things to do in town today as I forgot the grocery list so missed a few grocery items when at the supermarket, Taupo was a tad far to come home and get it lol. | 9845 | Morning ladies, it's a bit cool here too kiwimade. I lit the woodfire when I got home yesterday from my afternoon out and it was still glowing with red embers when I got up this morning, so I just put some more wood on and it's lovely and warm in here now. I know the heat pump is easy, but the woodfire is much better in my opinion. I actually don't think the heat pump we bought is as efficient, nor big enough for the area it's trying to heat, as it should be. Knit and natter this morning, and this afternoon I have an appointment to go and sign a new will. I've been feeling a bit glum these last few days. Hope I can shake it off soon. I've been having quite a few "juicy eyes". Thought I would be feeling a bit more back to normal by now. I suppose it will take time. I have struggled and made the blind for the kitchen window and put it up, taken it down and added more rings, and put it up again. When I went to get the timber, I bought one length for the kitchen window (I already had one piece the right size) and two pieces for the office window. All nicely cut to size. When I went to pay for it the old chap growled at the young chap who had served me and said "you know you're not supposed to cut that timber any shorter than half a length" and the young chap said "I know, but I felt sorry for the old lady!". Charming. Got home and realised that the office window is wider than the kitchen one, so the timber isn't long enough - but as Paul would say "only at one end". I'll use it for the en suite window. In Denver at moment after a rather long trip from Washington as plane had to be diverted to Colorado Springs as Denver airport shut due to really bad thunder storms, when we did finally arrive after 10pm the place was frantically busy, apparently they had to get in 42 planes between 11pm and 2.30am. I hadn't taken my knitting with me and really wished I had as we sat in the plane for over 1 1/2 hours waiting. Catching the train tomorrow for San Fransisco right through the Rockies so should be great takes 33 hours so have knitting in carry on bag.
