Morning everyone
A beautiful clear day today.

Ohh Kiwimade, I turn my karcher on and off between windows too.. Maybe Ill do that a bit less.

The blankets are lovely.. I couldn't get into the 10 stitch ones.

Sounds like you had a dun if not cold night Kuaka. Wow the most Ive ever paid for clothing was a skirt and top for $120.. and that was in about 99 so it was a lot to me.

Shopping this morning. Then we will decide when to go get meat. It might be sunday cos then we know we wont be missing a courier.

have a fab day everyone

morning ladies, we have our first frost this morning, -2 out here :)

Our students are sound asleep, will let them sleep for a while longer. No point getting up when jet lagged and we're in no hurry to go out. The Furry One is smitten and they adore him so there was lots of playing and racing round last night. And the girls did the dishes for me without being asked, they even beat me to the sink lol. Today we're off to walk around Mt Maunganui, show them some cows (they asked to see some) and maybe some sheep. There's a deer farm up the road so will stop and let them see the deer as well. We'll have a picnic lunch at McLaren Falls and good old fashioned fish and chips wrapped in newspaper for dinner. Simple stuff we take for granted!

Might be able to squeeze some knitting in before the girls wake, if they sleep too long will poke the Furry One through the door to wake them :P.

happy knitting!

Morning everyone.. Our first frost too.

We had an interesting night.. Theres a pack of idiots in town going around smashing windows on cars.. Last night was Our Turn. They broke both windows on the drivers side. Id only just turned the bedroom light out.. Heard it and saw the car drive away.
The police Helicopter was already out here so they circled over our place several times.
I'm annoyed more than angry.. Anger wont do my BP any good. And thankfully we have insurance.

So I'm having breakfast first, or Ill not get it. And then will ring insurance and glass people.

This means MrP is finally ready to sort the garage out.. Well it will be me and a friend.. We need to Try and get the car in.

So I wont be getting to my hook until after dinner most likely.

Half my wool came from Turkey yesterday, hopefully the other will arrive soon.

Have a safe trip Kiwimade. Yes we do take things for granted eh.. That's why I like showing visitors around too.

Have a fab day everyone

Morning
That sounds a great day out Kiwimade and I'm sure the girls will love it.

Oh dear Popeye how frustrating, it is the inconvenience of having to sort out new windows and car out of use for a while that would really annoy me. At least you have new wool to look forward to using.

Little frost but lovely now so off to hang out washing and get going properly for the day.
Definitely some knitting later just doing a few little garments to use up spare balls.

Have a good day

Good Morning Ladies. Jack Frost has paid us a visit this morning. Everything is white.Sun out, we in for a great day.
DH is in a lot of pain almost 24hours at present. Will phone and see if the outreach nurse will come out today.
We have been told they can fuse the discs at the base, but can't not have a hip replacement.Happy days...

Popeye, hope you can get your car windows replaced today and get your car off the road. Good luck sorting your garage out. We are lucky we have a driveway and park the car behind 5-foot metal gates which are locked. Cannot get the car in the garage either.
If I can knit with circular needles you can too. Also, will help your shoulders as well as.
Yes, the milo top is lovely. Everyone go to popeye's facebook and have a look.It is soo cool!

Enjoy your trip to The Mount with your students. The day sounds a lovely day for everyone.Kiwimade.

Will no K & N for me today, need to get moving and tidy up the place, them maybe sometime in the garden.

Everyone have a Great Day.

Waggghhhhh No car till Tuesday... They have to order the glass in and of course its the long weekend.

But it gives me more time to sort the garage. And at least the car will be safe locked away at the panelbeaters

We were the third car for them today..

There were too others on the street that ours goes off.

Thank goodness for insurance.

Ill add pics soon. Ive never had a broken window on a car so had No idea just how far the glass went..
And I got two tiny pricks from it last night, and bled like a stuck pig lol.

Morning ladies, well my trip to the dentist yesterday was painless, he took some x-rays and did a general examination of my teeth and gums, and said the tooth I want out should be left in, as it's helping support it's neighbour, and the time to pull it out is when the filling falls out again, because then there really won't be enough tooth left to fill. He seemed very nice and I'm going back later this month for two small fillings and a clean. Wonder how much that will set me back.

Real bummer about your car popeye. Right little hooligans around, I suspect this is the result of the lack of discipline the little brats receive and they learn no respect for anything or anyone.

I was busy yesterday morning. I sent Paul a message last night which read along the lines of "I can't decide whether the jigsaw or your new battery drill is my newest favourite toy!" and then told him that I wasn't going to tell him what I'd been up to, I'd wait and see if he notices. He sent back a row of smiley faces. I also said I would tidy up the workshop today, so I had better do that.

Time I got organised, and had some breakfast and a shower.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Will be good to get your car off the road popeye, little buggars! We had vandals smashing letter boxes a few years back, senseless really. I caught some of them on our road, had a torch in my hand so they couldn't see me but I could see them lol, and I had the dog with me lol. They moved pretty quick!

Taking our 'girls' to meet their bus this morning so everyone is up and about. They have been a real delight to have stay.

Once home I'll be stripping beds and general tidy up. Might get some weeding done in the garden and I need to spray moss on some concrete. Gets really slippery in winter and quite dangerous. Will knit later this afternoon :)

happy knitting!

Morning - crisply cold with a very white roof over the road so keeping warm with coffee in bed, luxury! Going to be a beautiful day though but will wait till late am and the frost has melted before going on the Napier Taupo rd.

Safety glass is awful stuff to get rid if when I had a broken windscreen it kept turning up for months later, no idea where it kept hiding.

Well think I have packed all I need while away, have had to,take 2 cases one of summer things for USA and one of winter things to leave in Hamilton for when I return, the second one is the hardest what is the weather going to be like here in a months time, especially as only just started thinking winter the last couple of days it has been such a mild autumn.

Am taking sock wool as can knit socks while away, small, light and yet not too, mindless to do, the left overs can be baby beanies which are 'no think' things for on the plane.

Have a good day

Morning ladies, very nippy here this morning too, the heat pump is on but I'm not really warm yet, it was very tempting to stay in bed longer. Going to be a lovely day.

Plan today is to have yet another attempt at tidying up, and to finish the bedroom curtains and put the track up, and to sand and paint the project I worked on the other day (it's a shutter for the cat door seeing as she has managed to get the little tabs off which allow you to shut the door so she can only come in or only go out - I'm calling it a "portcullis" as it drops into place into a framework which I made - pic when it's finished). Course I probably won't get everything done but I'll give it a go.

Then I must find some time to finish the puzzle ball I'm making, just got one strip of "lids" to do, they don't take long.

Have a super day everyone, enjoy the lovely weather.

MMMorning everyone.. Tis a tad chilly.. I put the heater on for MrP.. Hes really feeling the cold this year.

We both slept like logs last night. Although I was awake from 4-6am, with a very sore back. Took pills and Ill top up again shortly.

My friend is coming in to help me in the shed this morning. Will get all the cardboard boxes out of the way and the old tv, and take them to the recycling centres we have here.

I'm almost dreading looking at FB, to see how many cars were done last night.

I'm only working to lunchtime today... Get the big stuff moved and I can do the rest over the weekend.

Have a fab day everyone.

PS It must be chilly I'm having my first hot drink since last winter lol

Good Morning Everyone. Another frost this morning. Yesterday was a long day. DH was not having a good day. Lower back and hip very painful.Ended up calling the big white taxi to take him.to hospital. He has stayed the night.
I arrived home again around 7pm. Tea and watched Coro Street. Did not sleep well till the early hours of the morning.
. Phoned the hospital and now playing the waiting game. I am sure you all know about that. Waiting for everyone to see him. So not sure what going to happen today.
I did a few rows of knitting last night.

Have a great day !!

Afternoon ladies, what a busy day I've had, and to congratulate myself on finishing (well almost finishing) my very first solo woodworking project, I've just opened a bottle or red (or I should say re-opened it, 'cos I didn't realise it was already open!)

So hiding behind the lump of heavy board which is wedged behind the heavy copper wood box is the cat door - not that you can see it in this pic:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/484918250.jpg

so now all I have to do is drop the piece of ply into the framework which I have made:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/484918723.jpg

instead of wedging the board in place and then dragging the heavy copper box in front of the board to keep it in place.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/484919562.jpg
I know it's not a perfect job, but I'm happy with my first attempt. Just need to cover the heads of the screws (which I have countersunk) with a dab of paint.

Puss has tried desperately to "open" the door, but she can't. Sorry puss.

I've also finished and hung the curtains (still to do the linings - tomorrow maybe) and taken down the blind and put up the track. I was screwing the 6th bracket into position when I realised I put the first five brackets up incorrectly, so had to take them all out again, but all good now, at least the possums won't be able to spy on me as I'm tucked up in bed.

Now to relax and do some knitting.

miffycat, it pays to check with the airline, although when needles are confiscated, it's the security staff who do it. Last time I flew to the UK, some five years or so ago, I took crochet hook, yarn and the short plastic "ends" off an old circular needle onto which I had glued a bead to stop the stitches coming off. I knitted (on the wee needles off the circulars) several pairs of bootees and crocheted several beanies and berets both on the plane and while waiting in airports and departure lounges and was never challenged. I made sure though that I didn't have in my hand luggage any needles or hooks that I wouldn't want to lose. I don't sleep on planes either which is a pain when it's a 24 hour flight.

Hi Miffycat
I knitted to and from Europe in January and on air NZ to Tonga in March with no problems.

I took my oldest changeable circular needles which are wooden, just in case they were confiscated. I'm off to USA tomorrow and hopefully can knit again but am taking an old set of needles just in case someone gets fussy. As Kuaka said it would be at security they would be stopped I just left them I'm my carry on and it went through the X-ray ok.
Knitting certainly helps the waiting and the trip go better.

I need sleep,as I didn't get much sleep the first part of the night.
Catch you all again soon

morning ladies, what a gorgeous day it's going to be today. Frosty and still, the paddocks look stunning this morning.

Clever you kuaka! Well done on puss' door! Aren't power tools great fun lol.

Sunflowers, so the hospital don't supply PJs? must be a cost cutting measure for the laundry budget. MrK used to take his own PJs but it was much easier all round if he wore their gowns. I hope MrS managed to get some sleep, hospitals aren't the best places for sleeping.

I ran out of wool for the wee blanket so will get some when in Hamilton next. Frustrating as I'm on a roll with it and about two thirds of the way.

So I started a puerperium cardy for the newborns due in our family. Daughter has asked me to knit a couple more, I knitted three (I think) for our first grandy and she loved them. So good for when baby needs changing and especially for undressing when the Plunket nurse visits. Daughter has also asked me to knit on her behalf a couple of them for her cousin and his partner as well. The knitting list is getting longer!

MrK is off duck shooting this afternoon with his mate so I'll be able to knit then.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, beautiful morning here, but a bit cool again.

Have decided that I don't like the curtains that I hung yesterday and I should have made them floor length and didn't - grrrr! - so going to make some more. Anyone would think I like making curtains. I have heaps of the fabric (which I do like) just don't like them finishing between the windowsill and the floor. Silly me. So my main job of the morning is to cut more curtains out. First I want to list a couple of things on here and have a cuppa.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone

A light fog this morning but its cleared, can see its still foggy in the south tho.
Tis nippy but not as cold as yesterday tho.

Not good re running out of wool Kiwimade, that could never happen here lol

Kuaka great Cat flap, I love power tools too.. I'm still waiting to try the hedge trimmer lol... First disturbed by having to move the furniture etc and now the car and garage. Still its not going anywhere, other than further over the footpath .

Today I will be in the garage again, moving the stuff from on and under the table. And get that moved so we can go through the shelves. Havent been in then for years. So hopefully will be able to downsize them.

Then when the sun is around the front we will yet again fix the gate that the lawn boy keeps hitting.. Tempted to put corrugated iron on the dam thing. lol

So I shall now check in on fb, I kinda dread it now. Don't want to hear of others having their cars damaged.

Have a fab day all

popeye333 - 2016-06-05 09:35:00

lol popeye, I only bought 4 balls of the wool as I wasn't sure what I was going to make and thought 100 grams would be heaps to use knitting newborn things. Wasn't planning on making this blanket lol. I don't mind, our home is too small to have a huge stash of wool, the storage is pathetic! Just as well I don't like clutter! And it's an excuse to visit Spotlight or Knitworld again.

I have been given some triple knit wool, have to weigh it to see how much is there. It's labelled 'sock wool' so I would think it's for heavy duty socks. Not sure yet what to knit with it so will have a potter online and see if any patterns grab my fancy.

Ohhh and as for hitting the gate lol, we had a shared driveway with our home in town and the tenants next door kept deliberately running over the garden near the letter box. MrK put a big rock in the corner of the garden one day. Later that night they came home, cut the corner and hit the rock! They did a bit of damage to their car, shouldn't laugh but oh boy, they were the worst neighbours we've ever had! The rock was huge, so not like it couldn't be seen!

Well I'm on my way sitting at Auck. Airport and using the free wifi. Knitting needles went through security no probs so have started a little beanie while watching the planes, it is finally sinking in that I am off and away lol.

Morning ladies, funny how sometimes you plan a day and it doesn't turn out the way you planned it.

Yesterday I went out to the boat in the morning, but was taken out there so didn't have to row. Much easier just being a passenger in a dinghy.

So it was afternoon before I got round to cutting out the floor length curtains for the bedroom, assisted by puss:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/485194214.jpg

So I have now cut them out, and sewn the seams on the first one and pinned the tape on. Have two pairs of trousers to shorten today which I need to take with me tomorrow when I go to my usual mah jong session for one of the ladies there, and I will have to do them today as I've already been paid. I prefer to do the work first, but it's better than not being paid at all. Then I hope I can finish and hang the curtains, then it's just the linings to do.

The tidy up didn't happen yesterday so will have to work on that in the next day or so. I don't know where all the stuff comes from, I'm sure it breeds while I'm not looking.

Enjoy your day and happy crafting.

morning ladies, another frosty morning here with no wind, just stunning.

Love how puss has to help kuaka, they have to be part of the action :)

I need to mow the lawn once the frost has gone, we have more students this week so want the garden looking nice. Also when it comes to spring, it will be easy to mow that spring growth.

I finished a wee puerperium cardy last night, now to find buttons. There is 500 grams of triple knit in the bag of wool my friend gave me, it's quite harsh, but pure wool and at least another 500g of green double knit. I can easily use the double knit but have my thinking cap on for the other as I rarely knit bulky wools.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
A frost again but there are grey clouds around..

Love the pic Kuaka, the colour of the fabric is lovely.

My Too do list seemed to be multiplying.. I need to trim the ferns, wash the windows and nets, cut MrP's hair, Make jam and soup.

But today I'm hoping to get the shed finished. Ill take MrP down with me this morning to finish sorting his tools, then he can watch his westerns this afternoon.
I phoned the landlord last night and I can use the recycle bin from next door which is great. Saves me a trip in a car I don't have lol.

Was having fun with Missy last night. She was laying on my lap and flicked her tail over the edge so I picked it up and put it back, she flicked it over, I put it back lol.. It was soo funny, the look on her face.
reminded me of the toddlers throwing a toy from the pram and continuing to do it so you have to pick it up lol.
She is two so maybe its natural; lol

Right I need to do a few things here and then get back to the shed.. Have to unearth some toilet paper lol.. I didn't think to fill the holder before I started, and there is stuff in front of the pantry lol

Morning Everyone. Slow and late start this morning. Everything white again today.
Received a phone call at 12.10 am not long put my book down and turned the light off. It was the hospital ringing. Can I speak to hubby as he is very upset. He was high on meds. and now he having a reaction from them.
I do not like late calls, not when we have family living in The UK and other parts of NZ It's just something we have live with over the years.

Time I moved and did some jobs around the place before heading off to the hospital.

I did some knitting last night.
Have a Great Day everyone

awww dam sunflower, I know how you feel about those late night calls. My family is all (except for dad and my sister and immediate family) in the South Island and Aussie, so those late night calls are frightening. *hugs* hope your day gets better.

I'm attempting my first go at dyeing wool. Have it soaking at the moment, just need to boot MrK out of the kitchen (he's making soup for lunch) so I can get cracking shortly. Can't wait lol.

Ohh Sunflower, I remember those calls well. Mum reacted to a lot of her meds.
Hopefully MrSunflower will feel better soon.

The Shed is DONE.. Ive got bags of rubbish to put out. recycles to go in the bin. And then just a couple of boxes to put aside for the recycle shop.

Ive been wanting to do it for sooo long, it feels soo good to have it done. Finally.

And now I can put my feet up for a well earned break.

All done, now drying on the line. Will bring it in soon as the day is getting chillier already.

Morning ladies, love the colours in the wool you've dyed kiwimade, very similar to my first attempt at dyeing wool - 'cos I just used what I had in the pantry.

Well I've made my full length curtains and hung them, just have to do the linings now, and I'm much happier with them. Should have made them floor length to start with. Plan to make a couple of Roman blinds for the office and one in the kitchen, that will leave just two kitchen windows with no coverings. Might put blinds on them eventually if the first two turn out ok and if I have enough fabric left.

Right now I'm about to have a cuppa and do my tax return and rates rebate application. What a way to start the day!

Might find time to knit later.

Have a super day everyone.

Bet you are pleased to have the curtains up kuaka, I remember having our old ones down last year while painting and feeling quite exposed.

Morning everyone.

Fine here at the mo but the clouds are greying up. Not cold and only a smidge of condensation down the hall. I put the dehumidifier on over night and that helps.

I feel so relieved the garage is done.. Now I can get to the normal jobs that need doing. Its a pleasure to walk into the garage now lol
Today is cutting MrP's hair and Ill wash the bedroom windows and nets.

Ill do the fern in the next dry spell.

I need to make Jam and soup, basically to use the fruit and veges in the freezer, and cos I enjoy doing both.. And of course we like to eat it lol.. Well I don't eat the soup lol

So this afternoon I'm finally going to get some squares done.

And we wait with excitement to get the car back. And yes Kiwimade it will be nice to be able to get into the car without it being covered in frost etc.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies :) Yep, hoodies sure use up the wool carole.

Sunflowers, it was lovely to 'meet' you on FB yesterday :).

Looks like we're in for rain today, perfect for pottering about indoors. I started knitting a wee cardy with the wool, I only dyed 200 grams of it in case I stuffed it up so hopefully have enough. I remembered a pattern I have had for a couple of years waiting until I had some tripleknit to knit it so now's my chance. Even MrK likes it lol. I have the rest of the wool to wind into hanks so will do that today, all ready for the next fine day when I can dye it. Was also given some embroidery threads by the same friend so will sort those out today as well. Have already used some of it on the baby's blanket. So it might be a rainy day, but still plenty to do.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies,

Hope Mr Sunflowers is settling down, I know how worrying it is when the meds upset them. Mr K was doing the most bizarre things the day before he went to hospital for the last time. Paul said "he's weirding me out!"

Well someone is coming round at 9am to pick up some old carpet which is stored under the billiard table - I advertised an exercycle for sale and it is parked alongside the billiard table and someone wants the carpet, can't seem to give the exercycle away!

It's knit and natter this morning and I can't decide what to take with me to do, might start a "mile a minute" blanket or I might start a "Rowena Rabbit". Decisions, decisions.

This afternoon I've got an appointment at the lawyers to have Mr Ks name removed from the deeds (not sure what that will involve as he's not here to sign anything - no doubt I will need to produce the death certificate) and to make a new will for myself.

Then when I come home I shall probably put feet up and knit for a while.

Looks like a miserable day today and it's not very warm, so the heat pump is on - I will light the fire later.

Have a super day everyone.

Not raining here, Yet. but it will later I think.

We hopefully get our car back today.. so that will be good, ive run out of Missys special bikkies.

Even managed to do 3 squares last night. So I thinks its about 82 Ive done.

I'm going to put some tomato soup on when I'm finished here.. And will vac. I have washing on, and while I have heaps of room in the garage I might just use the drying rack instead of the dryer.

There were three more cars done on Tuesday night.. But the noose is tightening .

Have a fab day everyone... I cant wait to cook lol

Afternoon ladies, just home from knit and natter. I wore a hat for a change, hardly ever wear one but it's so windy, decided I would. One of the ladies fell in love with it and bought it, so I'm happy. Might take some more along next week and see if I can't sell a few.

morning ladies :) Well I started knitting the wool I dyed, was thrilled with the colourway BUT lol, got part way through the pattern and realised my printer had mucked up the printing and I was missing half of the sleeves, the bit where the cable begins for the yolk, so it was a mad frantic look online and no, Deramores had taken the free pattern off it's site. It was about 18 months ago I printed the pattern off. And did I think to keep a copy of the downloaded pattern, no! Stupid, stupid, me, I usually do so haven no idea why I didn't this time. So I've emailed Deramores with a description of the pattern and fingers crossed, hopefully they can help me. If not, then I'll have to think of something else. Am so cross with myself!

Anyhoo, will find something else to do today to tide me over.

Happy knitting.

Morning everyone

Kiwimade can you describe it here, one of us might have it, you never know.

Well done Kuaka, on selling the hat.. Strangest place Ive sold things is when I was in hospital before my heart surgery, a Lady was visiting my room mate and she brought a hat and scarf set off me. She saw me knitting it and came in everyday so was able to buy it when finished lol

Well still no car, and today is normally shopping day... feels weird. yes I know I always have plenty of food, but its habit that I miss.

The two children (Aged 14 and 16) were named on Facebook last night. Ive yet to look at the result of that. But the parents were told it would happen and they didn't care. I don't think it will shame anyone cos none of them seem to care.

I know when I was those ages, I would have known smashing peoples car windows wasn't "OK"

The wrong glass has been sent twice for the window. so hopefully today.

Ohh I enquired about my first wool order which hadn't arrived from Turkey. They sent it to the wrong person.. they asked did I still want it.. I said Yes please since I had paid for it lol.. so they have sent another lot for me.. Ive been laughing about it all night.. did I still want it lol.. I ordered it Of course I wanted it lol

Have a fab day everyone

How frustrating popeye aboutyour car, we're rural and rely on our car so can imagine how annoying it all is. Trouble is, these kids have no idea of the inconvenience they cause, they just don't give a dam about anything like that. Until one day it happens to them (here's hoping!)

I had an email back from Deramores and no, sorry, they don't have it. So buggar, damnation and all that. It's a Sirdar cardigan pattern for a girl with no number on it. The little girl in the picture looks to be around 6 or 7 years old, is blond wearing a bright yellow beret. The cardigan is button to the neck, stocking stitch until the yolk which has a double cable knitted then sewn on as a yolk. Would be lovely if someone had downloaded the pattern. I suppose I could fiddle around with it and see if I can figure it out.
