I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning ladies, lovely and sunny here this morning and so far, not a breath of wind (I feel as though I should be rowing out to the boat, but can't be bothered).

Oh dear, sunflowers, I remember years ago my mil had all her new underwear nicked off the line. She'd bought several new sets of matching bra and pants to go on holiday with, and it all vanished, they left the old stuff!

Made a start yesterday on my bedroom curtains, so might try to get one finished today. Have some alterations to do for someone as well, so should try and get them done in the next day or so. Also should be putting in some seedlings I bought on Monday. Lots to do to keep myself busy so that's good.

Am making another puzzle ball, and then I have to find something else to do, meantime I keep falling back on my c2c blanket.

Have a super day everyone.

Yes sunflower it is lovely being home -the old boy has a serious lung disease and being by the sea is the best place for him
I bought a lot of scheodwool cotton from Deramores to crochet a Sophie blanket - one colour had so many joins drove me nuts - I contacted the manufacturers - picked up the phone one day and it was the owner calling from Holland - he apologised profusely and promised a replacement - instead of just replacing the one colour he replaced the whole order of 80 balls - gobsmacked when the parcel arrived - feel guilty talking about it as Sophie still sits among my many WIP -

Morning ladies, sorry to hear about your other half gerry64, wow, fancy getting an extra 80 balls of yarn for nix.

Thick fog her this morning, but it is lifting already. No plans for today except I would really like to make the second curtain for the bedroom, which would leave just the linings to do and then I can put up the track and hang them and get rid of the awful old blind that I detest.

And of course, there's the never-ending tidying up that I should be doing, somehow I never seem to get quite on top of it. I will have to get stuck in next week and do some paper-work, tax return and rates rebate application amongst other stuff that needs to be done. Groan!

Fog has now cleared enough so I can see a couple of boats but I can't see the sea, they look to be just floating on mist. Weird.

Have a super day everyone.

morning ladies :) Wow Gerry, what a lovely surprise having all that wool arrive! And I find I have no hayfever when by the sea, must be something about living along the coast that does us good.

I knew I shouldn't knit while I'm sick, make too many mistakes so once again for the fourth time I have unpicked the baby blanket. Have cast on the stitches but that is as far as I got. Will have another go today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning

Oh dear the ongoing tidying up Kuaka - know exactly what you mean as fast as I seem to put things away other things come out - but that is a 'lived-in' home rather than just a show home! My theory is that it is always good to have a to-do list as then know not getting bored.

That is great that you got the whole order Gerry64.

Another lovely sunny morning hope it lasts all day - go and help BiL with making his pet litter this am and would like a bit of time in garden later.
Down to just one thing on the needles and want to keep it like that - well at least for this week hehe.
Have a good day

Morning everyone

Yay we didn't have to get up early today. lol

Grey and wet again here. I love it. Not cold at all.

MrP is starting to get Cabin fever so we are going to do the Oppy and the recycle centre shop this morning.

I did 5 squares yesterday so I'm pleased with that. I'm trying not to do matching colours but Random is really hard for me to do.

I will have to start bringing some of my stuff for the hall stand soon, cos underneath those crates is the stuff I made for the stall, and I want to get a few coat hangers out , My aunt is turning 80 soon and I thought they would be perfect for her.

I heard from the company that sent me the wrong size circular needles yesterday. They are sending me some new ones, and I have to send these short ones back. I'm going to wait till the new ones arrive, before I return them tho.. I'm just feeling a bit dicey about them.

Have a fab day all...

morning ladies :) Housework for me today as we begin another round of overseas students next week. Need to get windows done again, thank goodness the flies seem to be over. Our daughter is staying the night tonight, will save her driving back in the dark and in this storm. Just her, no grandy :(.

I've finally got underway with this baby blanket, changed the stitch pattern to another lacy one and so far it looks pretty. Am knitting 4ply using 4mm needles to add a bit of looseness to the lace.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, what a stormy start to the day, everything is sodden, we had torrential rain, started around 5am and didn't ease off till well after 7. Meantime we had a brief power cut.

Must try to get the curtain done today, I managed to cut the second one out yesterday. Then make the linings and put the track up. I'm planning on making a couple of Roman blinds for the kitchen and office. Not going to start them just yet, but they are in the planning stage. Might have to see if there's any help on youtube as I've never made blinds before.

Just finished another puzzle ball, so looking for a knitting project next, might be another pair of those simple bootees (the ones that gave me so much grief last time) or a cute little toy I've found a pattern for.

Have a super day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone. Overcast and we in for a stormy day
I am off out to a craft day. Looking forward to it
.Oh what a list of things to take. Tell you all about it this afternoon.
Just hope I have better luck than with my knitting. Took a piece off the needles yesterday to start again.
Every your day and stay dry.

Morning everyone
We still have grey clouds but no rain at the mo, or wind which is good.

Well I had said to MrP I wanted to do something different today.. My friend just called. She fell down a flight of stairs at work.. Trouble being she has to go into Auckland to get her eldest brother from hospital.
So I'm going out there to drive her car up to get him.

Have a fab day evertyone

well so much for that baby blanket lol, off the needles and unpicked. Just couldn't be bothered with 19 rows for a pattern. The wool has been unpicked so many times now even the ply is unwinding. So I'm making some peggy squares a la me and am thinking of embroidering it as well. All thoughts at this stage.

Suns out and windy now so that should help dry things out. If it stays like this tomorrow I should be able to mow the lawn.

Ohh Kiwimade, Id have to agree, stuff 19 rows to a pattern lol.. Might be ok for a little cardy or something but not a blanket.
Cool idea re doing some embroidery on the squares tho. Could do letters of the alphabet and little animals etc.

I'm back from my drive... Went to Silvia Park, its grown since the first time I was there..

morning all, what a wet and windy night, I have started a coat for baby boy , he is 7 months old now and growing fast. got a funeral to go to this afternoon .

Morning ladies, well I nodded off in the chair last night but have only 6 rows of rib on the first of that simple bootee pattern that gave me so much trouble last time (and I haven't gone wrong on it yet). Course I paid for my armchair nap as I woke at 2.30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so I'm thinking a nanny nap after lunch might be a good idea.

I was pretty busy yesterday, decided to blitz the walk-in wardrobe in the main bedroom, 'cos Mr K had seriously disorganised it on Anzac day when he was behaving weirdly. I pulled everything off the top shelf, cleaned the shelf then put most of the stuff back, but tidily. Some stuff is in the op shop bag. Then I pulled everything off a chair in there and sorted that out, swept and washed the floor and put the chair back. I found yet another pair of Mr Ks shoes lurking in there which weren't in the original count!

Put clean sheets on the bed, so it's now ready for visitors - if I ever have any. Just got to wash the floor in there today and clean the en-suite, then I can close the bedroom door and forget it.

Pinned the curtain together but decided to put my plants in rather than sew, so the curtains are on the agenda this morning.

But first I'm going to do those 6 rows of rib on the bootee and have a cuppa.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) We had a rough night weather wise last night, so glad our daughter stayed and didn't drive home. Hope the weather holds off for your funeral carole.

You have been busy kuaka, another pair of shoes lol.

I have almost finished one square for the baby blanket, am still pottering about with it. I think it will look 'girly' with the embroidery and maybe a lace stitch somewhere on it.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Windy night but nice and sunny now.
Went to see Hunt for the Wilder people last evening with sister and BiL. I seldom go to the movies but we all thoroughly enjoyed it, very kiwi and funny as well as great NZ scenery. We then had Turkish for dinner so a great evening.

Good feeling getting things organised eh Kuaka. The blanket sounds like it will be lovely Kiwimade.
I have finally finished the bands on the baby Cardy I have been procrastinating over for ages, will sew in sleeves now and ready for the buttons. Also have a beanie on the go decided to use up bits of wool and save my socks for on the plane and while away.

Have a good day

Morning everyone
We had a lot of wind last night. Had to bung the hall door cos it rattles in the wind, cos the garage door doesn't shut right to the ground.

Didn't do any crochet yesterday.. and might get some done later. we are going to pop over to Pukekohe and look at the handbags in the warehouse, I like a backpack cos they don't aggravate my shoulders. They have some on special so hopefully they have one with heaps of pockets.

Everyone is doing soo well on their projects.. When I started this blanket I wanted to take my time to enjoy it, rather than making work out of it.. so I certainly doing that lol.

morning ladies, the sun has come out! Looks like we're in for a mixed up kind of day.

We want to see that movie jayemtoo, have heard some great reviews about it.

I have to take my window vacuum in for repairs, the switch is broken, just jammed and won't go. Hopefully it won't take long to fix, it certainly makes a grotty job quick and easy. So looks like the windows will be done 'by hand' this week before our students arrive.

Am knitting away at this blanket and the more I do, the more I like it. Was worth unpicking four times lol. MrK asked me if I was going to knit for a another friend who is going to be a dad soon, so have another baby to knit for. The needles are going to be clicking like crazy, lucky baby things are a quick knit.

Better get moving otherwise nothing will get done today.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, I slept quite well but had weird dreams about my teeth falling out - I'm thinking that's because I have a dental appointment on Thursday and I'm hoping he will yank out one molar that is giving me trouble.

Managed to fall asleep last night halfway through a row of knitting. Must have been tired. Haven't finished the curtain yet. I seem to keep getting side-tracked, so must try harder. (I recall seeing that a few times on my school reports "must try harder"). Have to press the seams open and do some ironing so think that will be first thing to do after breakfast.

No other plans for the day.

Have fun everyone.

Had a rough night coughing wise.. I'm soo sick of it. So I'm having a lazy day. I have to dig out some coathangers for my Aunts 80th birthday and apart from that I think Ill just crochet.

Have fun in Melbourne Dilligaf_dah... Id like to visit there one day. To see the town not my twin lol oops

Got a new backpack yesterday with 5 pockets so Ive transferred everything over. Fake leatherette so it will look nicer than the fabric one Ive had, for a lot longer.

Hope the eyes ok Carole and that annoying cough settles soon Popeye. I take one panadeine for cough, the little bit of codeine stops it for a while at least, but not sure if you can take this with all your other meds.

Into the baking at the moment was given a big bag of apples and also the granny smiths are ready on my little tree so into making apple cakes as on baking for Mainly Music this week and want to give one to neighbour who gave the apples, 3 cakes in the oven and 2 more waiting to be made hope that is enough as that is all the eggs I have.
Sun is shining and showing up the dust so will dust and vacuum while waiting for first lot of cakes to cook.
Sewed buttons and finished off all my little things yesterday so now just have the one little vest on the go.

Even managed to shut Missy in behind the sewing table. she sneaks in behind thengs and I don see, so have to pull thigns out to free her again.

Morning ladies, beautiful sunny morning here - so far - bit nippy, (oh to have a house in the sun! - never mind we chose the view instead)

Off for a massage this morning, then my usual mah jong afternoon, so a busy day. If I have time after the massage I might go and check out a cattery so I know that it is suitable lodgings for puss while I'm away, or I might pop in and see if one of the op shops has any bargains.

Won't have time to knit till this evening, but I have finished the second bootee (still need sewing up but that doesn't take long) and I didn't go wrong on these.

Have a super day everyone.

I finished the C2C blanket last night, thought I had better seeing as our students arrive Thursday and I could use it on one of the beds. It's a bit of a mish-mash of colours but it's definitely warm.

Grocery shopping today and then home.

Finally did a few squares last night. Got some oranges and teal colours out.

Theres a thread in general of hjrtraders, with my name in the title, shes just learnt to crochet squares, only done rows before and its turned out lovely.. red black and white but the design is soo nice.

I made it home before the rain kicked in, those black clouds were following me lol. MrK helped me get the groceries in and unpacked just as it started to pelt down. So good timing!

We're watching Happy Valley as well sunflowers, really enjoyed the first series so have been hanging out for this one.

Time for lunch then some knitting I think. MrK is already sorting out a lunchtime movie for us to watch on Netflix... omg since we've had Netflix he's in seventh heaven with the movies lol.

morning ladies :) carole, Netflix is online viewing and costs us $16 a month. We can watch movies and TV series over four devices for this price, you can have cheaper options if you want. But we mainly use the smart TV (hooked it up to wireless wifi so no cords). You need heaps of broadband width, we have unlimited anyway as when the kids visit they bring all their devices. We love it as between Netflix and the free Lightbox Spark give their customers, we have a cheap way of watching what we want when we want.

I've finished the bottom two 'blocks' of the baby blanket and have even knitted the border across the bottom and done the embroidery. Am very happy with it. Now, four more 'blocks' to go.

Our students arrive tomorrow so my knitting will be slowing down for a couple of evenings.

Happy knitting :)

Morning
First day of winter and it is starting to feel it and getting out of bed is not as easy these days.

Do hope your husband is feeling brighter again Sunflowers.

3 days before I fly out to USA for a month so my spare beds have a suitcase each on them - one for summer things for when away and the other winter things for when I get back, it's interesting trying to imagine what I will need weather wise for each.
Big decision do I take wool to last while away or plan on buying more while there? I'd hate to run out if can't find a shop but I'm sure I'll find something if get desperate enough!

Have a good day Everyone

Morning ladies, thick thick fog this morning, can't see a thing out of the window.

Some excitement at last. Paul sent me a message last night with his flight details for his next visit and I have now booked my flights to Auckland and to Sydney. Haven't booked the return yet as I'm not sure how long I will be in Sydney. Anyway lots to do between now and 29th June!

Knit and natter this morning so I had better find something easy to do, I don't seem to be able to keep my brain focused at the moment.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

Yayayayay we finally had some decent condensation, so have whizzed around with the karcher vac.. Did you get yours fixed Kiwimade?

Ohh to be able to travel.. Have fun Jayemtoo... Id Have to take some wool with me, just in case. But only use it of I couldn't find any.

Woohoo Kuaka, so glad you have a time etc for your trip. I'm sure the month will fly.

I gave in last night, to the temperature sookies in the house. There was me kicking off my slippers cos I was too warm, and MrP and Missy were sitting there wanting the heater. I'm the one on blood thinners lol !!!

A few things to do today.. put the electric blanket on my bed for the smallest sookie. Fill the pill trays and hopefully , once Ive checked the bank pop up and post some parcels.
Going to put some neck chops (yuck) into the crockpot for MrP too. With loads of veges in it.

Have a fab day everyone

popeye333 - 2016-06-01 09:14:00
9738

ohhh we have some travellers, sounds exciting for both of you!

Spare bedrooms have been freshened up and I've swapped some blankets around on the beds, the two C2C blankets are quite heavy so have put one on each bed with a lighter blanket under them. Should do the trick along with the duvet. The house is toasty warm anyway so they shouldn't be cold. I refuse to put electric blankets on the guest beds as the students don't turn them off! Windows are done, crockpot on for dinner, the porch has been tidied and a home found for the three pumpkins sitting on the boot box.

Time for a cuppa and some knitting I think.

Edited to add, sadly popeye, my window vac has died :( The circuit board was stuffed and it would cost more to repair than replace. So I had to blat round with the windowlene and a cloth... omg.... I am so buying a new karcher, it makes nice sparkling clean windows and is effortless to use. Forgot how spoilt I was with it lol.

Edited by kiwimade64 at 10:03 am, Wed 1 Jun

kiwimade64 - 2016-06-01 09:59:00

Wow Kiwimade, that's not good re the Karcher.. It wasn't terribly old was it?

I went to make MrP's irish stew with neck chops and they were off... I'm soo over rotten meat.. Going to start going to the butcher from now on.

So the meal got changed to Chicken Stoup.. Which is too thick to be soup and not thick enough to be stew lol

MIssy helped me put the electric blanket on the bed. I discovered why she loves playing under it.. There is about a million pieces of tissue under there. Don't know where she got it from.

Her namesake Missy the foxy loved to "Play" with toilet rolls if we forgot to put them up high before we went out.

So I'm finished for the day. Pills trays done too..

So I will crochet this afternoon

My word Gerry those crochet blankets are gorgeous will be such heirlooms when finished.
I have made 2 round and 2 square 10 stitch blankets and more are not on my "to-do" list I can assure you, they certainly aren't very inspiring to do although did use up quite a bit of my left over wool.

jayemtoo - 2016-06-01 16:08:00

Yes Grant151 I do occasionally. But not all the time.. We have aluminium windows and our landlord thought the best way to keep condensation down was to drill holes along the bottom of the window. So there is always a big difference of temperatures in and out.
My lovely friend gave me mine for Christmas 2014 and I love it.. I was planning on buying one before winter 2015 but she pipped me to the post.
And we got her a new crockpot for her Christmas present the same year , she was planning on getting herself one for her birthday 2015.

We banned each other from the shop... well sort of. we could go in there but we had both told the staff not to let each other buy what we had gotten each other.
The staff were fantastic and just steered us away from the items lol

Morning ladies. D day today (for dentist!) wish me luck.

Went to the op shop fashion parade last night, nearly froze to death as it was under cover but the sides of the place are all open to the elements, but well worth it, haven't laughed so much in ages. The models were an absolute scream as was the lady who did the commentary. The clothes were pretty awesome and the music was great. Bought one tunic at the end of the show. Someone (obviously someone with more money than me) had donated a Giorgio Armani suit which still had the price tag of $1700 on it. Pity it wasn't my size - although I would never go anywhere to wear it.

Freezing here today, have the heat pump on but I've just lit the fire. Have to try to book a rental car for Paul - he's tried but not been successful, so that's my first job this morning.

Have a good day everyone.

grant, yes, I always used the liquid and had just bought a new bottle of the stuff (in the 'triangular' bottle, clear liquid) as it is just such a good product. Gets rid of fly dirt easily without too much effort. And my karcher was around two years old but well used. I suspect it was the on/off switch that finally killed it as I would turn it off/on between windows so the switch had more use than the actual vacuum.

Am going great guns on this wee baby blanket, very happy with it. Am embroidering pink roses onto it as I go as this baby is being named after mum and mum loved flowers.

Our students arrive this afternoon, have a bit of housework to do then might get this next 'block' of knitting finished before I pick them up.

Washing machine has finished, better hang out the laundry and get cracking.

happy knitting.

Morning
Cold start to the day but still no rain, will rug up well and go to town I think.

Gosh fancy paying that for a suit and not wearing it - unless they wore it with the price tag on to remind them what they had paid.
Enjoy your students Kiwimade you certainly meet interesting people this way.

Have a good day
