Morning ladies, well if we had a stormy night, I don't know about it as I slept like a log last night. Had a really busy day just tidying up yesterday, polishing furniture, put clean sheets on the bed and did a couple of loads of washing, and then went to the club just before 6 with the friend I caught up with last week. We were home again by 8.30, I just had two glasses of wine (she only had ginger beer as she'd had an upset tummy in the week and didn't want alcohol so she drove) and then when I got home I promptly fell asleep in the chair. My sister phoned and woke me up, and then I went to bed and slept till after 7. I must have been tired.

I found an old $2 note when I was going through an old wallet of Mr Ks. Wonder what else I will discover as I gradually sort things out.

The house is starting to look a bit more like a home than a tip, but there's a way to go yet.

I will have to go to town today, just to check the mail if for no other reason, but another friend is in the op shop this morning so might call in and say hello and see if there are any bargains (not that I need anything - need to get rid of stuff not buy more but some bargains are hard to resist) and buy a ticket to the op shop fashion parade. Never been to one before, but they are supposed to be good.

Brought a couple of lots of wool yesterday and started a milo vest for a 3 month size so not taking long to do. Also have wool for a bit bigger Jersey.
Mmmmm mustn't forget to finish those bands lol.

Godmorning Everyone. The wind sure moved the leaves around during the night along with the rain. Spend last 45mins raking up leaves most went on the gardens.

We all had a great time at K & N yesterday. We arrived wearing pink. We had been asked to bring along size 4.5m needles,given 8ply pink wool along with what do with it. We made 45 squares and hopefully finish it next week. The rug will be given to a member who joined us during her last round of treatment.

Did some of my own knitting last night while watching Coro St then off to bed. Not sure what the day holds for me today, I will see if DH is up to doing anything today. His new meds are starting to work and having least pain and sleeping better.

Well the sun doing it best to shine for Kiwimade visit to Napier.

Kuaka , I saw an article somewhere in the last little while about the "old" money. So hang onto that $2 it could be worth something.
Ive kept a new $5 and $10, for prosperity's sake

I hit the 50 squares last night.. Im thinking 12 x 12.. but will wait till Ive layed it out and see what size it will be.

Ive been emailing my cousin in the last couple of weeks. Shes my eldest cousin and we are both catching up, and finding many similarity's health wise.
Im going to go through the drawers beside my chair today.. it tends to be a dumping spot, so ill go through it and hopefully make some more room.

Have to pop up the street too...

Ohh our New Oppy opens next month,, going to be strange. cos where it is now , used to be the sewing factory I worked my first job in. so it has a tie for me. The new one is right next door but Heaps bigger.

My sister phoned last night with some sad news. My mum's favourite cousin had died. We always called him "uncle" and he was a lovely chap, lived with his gran for a lot of his childhood (he was one of 7 brothers and sisters who lived in a two bedroomed miners cottage as his dad was a miner) and as she aged, he looked after his gran (my great-grandmother) till she died, then later in life he looked after his mum for years. He never married but would have made someone a lovely husband, and would have been a great dad. Anyway my sister had a phone call from his niece to say he'd passed away. So my sister asked his niece how her mum and dad are, and she said Dad passed away last month. My sister asked how the sister who lived next door to them was, and apparently she passed away in January. So that's 3 of them gone so far this year. My sister said she had bought a birthday card for Uncle Norman only the day before. His birthday was same day as mine. Feeling a bit glum.

This is sort of knitting related - I am still going through th boxes and boxes of stuff my old Mum has given me as she is going into a home - found yesterday these little brown envelopes - they are her points prizes for her knitting that won prizes in the CWI competitions and low and behold the old coins are still inside - the ennvelopes are dated 1948 though to 1963 - two and six for second prize and five shillings for first - shed a tear of two

Morning ladies, not feeling so flash this morning, was awake half the night with terrible pains in my tummy, and not really any better this morning. Should be going out to the boat as it's flat calm (although the wind is just starting) but there's no way I feel like it - feel like going back to bed, and I just might do that and take a hottie with me to put on my tummy, see if that helps.

Love the elephant Kuaka. I posted on here last week but I don't see the post so must have something to do with the work computer timing out. My darling daughter has volunteered me to do some dolls clothes and blankets for the special needs children she works with at school, so that is what I have/am up to doing at the moment. Nice and quick but a bit fiddly at times. Doing shift work this appeals to me rather than bigger things. I have adapted a couple of patterns to suit the dolls that they have at the school. You have all inspired me to get back into my crafts/knitting as over the past few years shiftwork has ruled my life and not enough time for crafts/knitting. Thanks to you all.

Morning Just Everyone
I got up and baked this morning, so I can rest my back before the next lot of packing/moving stuff.
Broke my mini kitchen whizz thingee but Im hoping I can glue it back together. I only use it for chopping peanuts and occasionally bread crumbs. Its soo handy tho.

Hope you feel better soon Kuaka. Love the elephant.. Nice and bright.

I told my sister in law about the sock wool that was on special at Ice yarns. so have ordered some for her. And cos they come in packs of four, ill have some to either list on here or in the Yarn destashers on fb. They are the self patterning ones.
So I have two parcels coming from them. and some free bamboo circular needles coming too from USA I think. They were free you just pay the postage which was $10-95, not bad for a set of 18 needles..

Sunny here but the wind is getting up again.. I hope its fine tomorrow, but we have covers for the lounge suite which will go outside.

Glad your getting back into your crafts Akalea.. Its nice to enjoy doing something relaxing and having a bit of quiet time.

Sat and knitted another four squares last nights. What going on with the programes of late. Our TV off more than on these days. . No we don't have Sky TV. .
We off out later today for a late lunch or early afternoon tea. We have a lovely spot down on a river bank that we go too. Has great walking /bike paths which I will walk. It's so peaceful. DH like going as well as he can watch what going on the water. and have a good read..

What every you are dong today take cCare and enjoy the day.
PS The Hawkes Bay is putting some great weather on for Kiwimade and Mr K for their visit.

Did a quick google and only seller I came across was 'Fishpond ' Not Cheap'.in NZ Came across a NZ Web page called. "Rare Yarns' they in Wellighton . Was a lisit of stores that stock the yarns around NZ Very top end range of yarns.

Not planning to pickup my knitting till tonight. Enjoying knitting the squares using new stitch patterns.

Morning ladies, I'm pleased to report that I am feeling a bit better than I did yesterday, not quite back to normal yet (tummy is sore if I touch it or move quickly - actually it's lower than the tummy - feel as though I've been kicked in the guts), but I am not as bad as I was.

Have to go to town shortly and this afternoon I might go and visit some old friends that I haven't seen for a while.

Weather is pretty rubbish, sun, rain and rainbows, and it is colder, soon be time to light the fire. I don't mind that as it heats the hot water too, so even though its hard work and messy, the power bill goes down. So it's not all bad.

Last night I unravelled a couple of squares so I could use the yarn to complete a c2c blanket which has been sitting for months. I ran out of the multi-coloured yarn, and tried to finish it in cream, didn't like it, then used white, didn't like that either, then found some squares and the pink is almost identical to the pink in the blanket so I've used that. Now I want to make a couple of flowers to put on it, do you think I can remember how to do them - not a chance. Will have to google. Brain seems to have gone on holiday at the moment. Never mind.

Hope the carpet laying is going well popeye, you won't know yourself when it's all done. Enjoy.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling too flash, Kuaka. Hope things settle down for you soon. Love your elephant - so colourful - he will be a big hit with some little one. Cold here - have the gas fire on. Not that fussed about gas but that's what was here when we moved in, so we're stuck with it. Do love the gas water heating though - heats as you use it, so you never run out of hot water. Knitting a little lovie blankie, will post a pic when it's finished. Don't hold your breath - it may take a while!

Hi All
The carpet man turned up bang on time. We were worried the lounge suite would have to go outside but cos the room is L shaped he just moved it one and then the other.. He was great, easy to talk to.

Ohh Its a sort of brownie charcoal, depending on the light.. Its lovely.. Cut pile, but I know my chair doesn't move.. So that's a bonus.

He even helped me put the table back down before he left.

Ive only put the essentials back out.. IE my computer and crochet lol.. The rest can wait.. Im absolutely knackered. So Im giving into it and buying tea again tonight. Cos the stove top and benches are still covered in stuff.

I will say tho that my back and shoulders have coped rather well till today.

Wow would be soo cool to have snow.. We had sleet here one winter, and there was snow on the other side of town.
But the best time we have had snow was for our First Wedding Anniversary.. It was thick and heaps of snowmen were made.. Told MrP he can organise stuff like that every year if he wished lol

And Missy loves it now shes got used to it lol...

Morning, well the heat pump is on at my place, I think if I was staying home all day I would be lighting the fire, but I'm out this morning for a massage and then my usual Tuesday afternoon out.

Took a load of Mr Ks stuff to the op shop yesterday and the ladies were busy unpacking the first lot as I went out to get the second lot and they were saying what lovely track suit, what lovely trousers etc so I'm sure they will appreciate most of the stuff that I've given them. Sad to see it go but it's no good to me. I'm keeping a couple of his better jerseys that sort of fit me, and when it's really cold I'll wear them to keep him close to me.

Bought a track for the window in my bedroom so I can make curtains and take down the awful matchstick blind which I hate, course the track isn't long enough so will have to take it back and change it. Then I called in to see some friends I haven't seen for several years. She had a really bad stroke a couple of years back and was asleep when I got there, but I stayed and talked to him for a while and when she woke up I went in to the bedroom and her face lit up and she said "how lovely to see you, how are you coping now on your own, I was so sorry to hear about Ron". She is bedridden now after breaking her hip a while back and because the stroke left her paralysed and with no feeling down one side the broken hip went undiagnosed for ages and she has seized up. She's like a tiny little old lady and she's younger than me. Life is so not fair to some people. I came away telling myself I mustn't feel sorry for myself, I have lots to be grateful for.

Made an appointment to see a dentist next week - really looking forward to that - I know I need one tooth out, probably fillings too. Ouch on the pocket.

morning ladies! Thanks for the gorgeous weather in Napier over the weekend sunflowers lol. Couldn't believe the temperature difference on our way home yesterday.

I knitted one pair of booties while away lol, too busy enjoying family and our days out. I only managed to visit Lincraft on the way home and even then it was brief as the weather was so miserable and we wanted to pick the Furry One up and come home. They had 30% off so bought some white four ply merino and a couple of doubleknit balls.

We had a fab time, visited wineries, the aquarium, loved the Hastings market, found a gorgeous 1930's print for our entranceway. We went out for breakkie... omgg Ahuriri is so pretty! We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday by going out for dinner and MrK and I had lunch out every day including one at Clearwater Winery at Cape Kidnappers and another very posh lunch and winetasting at The Church Rd Winery. And yes, we bought some wine home lol.

Back to regular life now, have a sore throat so will tick along over the next few days.

Morning everyone.
Still really windy here.. but have got the dining room window open to let some of the smell out.
The guy did such an awesome job. It was nice to walk into the lounge and it looks great.
Not doing too much today, as a preventative. I don't want to get so run round that I risk the shingles again.. I was asleep by 9-30 last night lol.

Id love to visit Napier etc again at some stage. I took some thai friends there once and basically only saw the motel, a friends house and Subway lol.
Missy was fantastic yesterday , she has an old head on her young shoulders.

Landlord was telling us, not only did the young ones next door put holes in all the walls and let a leak rot the kitchen, they even took handle door knobs, just one of each side of the doors, so she has to replace the whole things.
She said that she is going to see how the money goes and we might get the little porch at the front door. She could see how much of the carpet had rotted by the door. Even the carpet man said he would put tiles at the front door and ranch slider.. But the 2 sided porch will be a great help.

Right a wee looky around here then Ill potter

Pleased to hear Kiwimade and Mr K enjoyed your visit to Napier. Yes, we have some great wine,along with fresh vegies,fish and fruit. Could not get much better.Sometime during the day I take a walk along the beach path,others times I ssit in the car with a coffee and just watch th world go by.

Hope you get your porch at the front door. Napier has changed alot since we have moved here Popeye, so you would not know the place.

Off to make some bags and fill them with bites and pieces for a friend who runs a food van for the homeless here in Napier. Yes there are families as well turn up on Mondays for a hot meal. About 50- 60 plus have a meal at van every week. Sewing 8 bags for the women,some are so young to be sleeping on the streets. I try to go most Monday nights. Hay, it only an hour out of my life and I'm back to a warm home and bed,

Didn't get much knitting done yesterday, just wanted to blob with this sore throat. The chemist sold me some probiotics and other stuff and today I am feeling better so it must be working.

Today we are meant to have hail and thunderstorms so better make sure we have water in the kettle in case of a power cut. No power = no water here.

The joys of living Rural Kiwimade.. I remember years ago when we lived in Mangakino and the transformer at the Whakamaru dam blew up, It was 6 days with no power. We had people coming into town from the farms for water. And we had our BBQ just about running non stop heating water for the older residents for their cuppa teas.
It brought the community together even more.

The porch sounds such a good idea Popeye hope landlord can come to it soon for you.

The little Jersey I'm knitting is turning out well think I will get more of the wool and do a top for great nephew who starts school later this year, it is a good boy colour and knitting up well. A small wool shop in Taradale is stocking some new wools and very reasonable.

Thanks kiwimade. Friend and I got them cut out and finished 6 yesterday. I will do other 2/3 over the next few days
.A few weeks ago we had a mother,12 daughter and a 1 week old baby going to sleep in the public toilets block down on the waterfront. Person came across them and phoned asking a the group for help. She was put up for night and next day someone offered a flat in meantime. It good to see people coming togther and helping.

Popeye hope you can rest up today after all the moving around things for new carpet.
Well I better get going have my flu injection this morning. I changed my mind with DH not well I would not like him to get it as well.

Knit and natter later this morning, I started another puzzle ball last night, so will take that and try to do some, (I usually take an alternative in case I struggle to conconcentrate) so I will also take my c2c blanket.

Then this afternoon I think I'll have that tidy up that I've been threatening to do for weeks. Might even do the ironing.

Gerry64 - Spotlight have a good flesh coloured yarn - no name but col1060 is the number. It's Marvel 8ply. See pic below to see if the colour is suitable. I use it for all my toys.

There are 2 wool shops in Taradale JJs and Knit1Purl1 - both are on the right hand side of Gloucester st when coming from the clocktower - no idea if they have flesh coloured wool though.
JJs also have some lovely quilting and embroidery things.

I did notice that the wool shop in the Onekawa shopping centre had quite a wide range of acrylics so very likely would have a flesh colour amongst them.

Think I'd best get off the lappy before the power claps out. Feeling a bit glum - got the Death Certificate in today's mail.

Gerry was in Napier Warehouse today and they have all their yarn half price. .Acrylics 400grms balls. Good price if you knittig for kids,toys etc.
Aarons have some lovely wool yarn at 4.50 for 50g and 2.50 for crylics.Mixed colours.
Kuaka wet and cold here in Napier. Temp dropped around midday.. There is always another day to go out to the boat. Stay warm and enjoy doing what every you want to do.and eat what you want. and when.

morning ladies :) It is so foggy here I can't see across the road. Typical Waikato weather!

Knots in wool frustrate me too carole, I've had balls of wool that have been broken and no knot at all!

Have started knitting a small baby's blanket for my nephew and his partner but will need to unpick a couple of rows. Shouldn't knit when I'm sick lol. Still it should look pretty when done, a lacy stitch over 12 rows with moss stitch borders. I just picked a stitch pattern out of a book and started knitting.

No fog here, a bit of blue and grey sky and the clouds have a pink tinge.

Yeah sometimes its not good to knit etc while sick. Cos your not 100% concentrating even if you think you are.

We are up early so we can let the carpet man into the unit next door. and I have to go for my depo at 9-15 so its good timing. Our landlords live 35 mins out of town so they would have to be up early to let him in.. No problem for us to do it.
I'm managing 3 squares a day at the mo. Which is nothing like I can do, but I'm just taking it easy. if I finished it too fast Id end up making another.. Lol which is probably what will happen anyway hahaha.

Onto last sleeve of Jersey will get some more of the wool today but will have to be strong and finish off sewing up and buttons on a couple of things before starting anything else.

The Granny Smith apples on my little tree are ready for picking so must stew some of them up for the freezer, they are really delicious and crisp to eat raw as well, it is a miniature tree over 30 yrs old but crops really well.

Good Morning everyone
. Went to get some underwear this morning and found out someone has nicked my underwear from the line. We had been in and out over the few days. .Either one of us hands it out and bris it in and folds it and into the hot water cupboard. Checked everywhere.
So it off to the warehouse just glad they have a sale on at present..

Gerry you welcome,just hope you can get colours you need.Did check my my wool bins. It's colour I don't have much all for.. Ssometimes forget Arrons as well. Good thing at times.!
You would of noticed some changes around Napier.

DH hopefully has a better day today. He send most of the day on top of the bed.I had my flu injection yesterday so did not do alot. .
Housework is calling and I need to pot some cuttings up while it a warm day. Hopefully some knittng along the way as well.
