Well done you getting the blanket to that size already. Yesterday was a horrible, horrible day. Ex-DIL handled it as expected, ensuring all spotlights were on her to the detriment of the children attending. I am so pleased to have pretty much nothing to do with that family anymore unless it involves L. It looks like I am becoming a grumpy old lady, so join the club. LOL.

I have family shit going on at the moment, it is so hard on our mental health. grizzly I don't think we become grumpy old ladies. We have seen lots of life now and are a lot wiser than we used to be. I will join the club!!

LOL. Seems to be a lot of going round. I am being mucked around by the info put out by MSD regarding sharing your spouses Superannuation. Originally I'd been told you could no longer do this from 1 July this year. I rechecked for an update in August and it appeared the change had not gone ahead. Yippee!!! or so I thought till yesterday when one of the group members thought they came in on 1 November. I checked again and lo and behold the sharing had been stopped on 1 July but info took ages to update!!. Luckily at this point I. wants to stay at work because of his racing. My plans to leave my job in March would have been stuffed otherwise. I will still have my clients, craft and admin for daughter S but might keep an eye out for a wee job, just in case. Something with no funding involved and no staff management. LOL.

Oh my goodness, ladies. I am joining you in Grumpy Old Lady City. I haven't popped into the message board for ages ... not sleeping well, not doing a lot of crafting and sort of bad-mood self-isolating cos I've been so grumpy with so many people and my tolerance level for the amount of selfish, self-entitled bullsh!t I've been encountering has hit an all-time low. I feel like the more you give, the more you're totally taken advantage of and walked all over.
Anyway, lovely to catch up with your posts. Hugs to you all & I wish you strength for all you 're going through. And great to see that this thread has reached it's 13th (I think) birthday.

Yes must be 13 years!!! Zoe started it up just after L13 was born, I think. Good to hear from millefiori. Absolutely agree about the selfish, self entitlement that is rife in our society especially so many parents these days not putting their kids first. I hope you are finding some pleasant things around you to keep your life in balance. Mine is gardening and having time to read books again.

Not sure where my message yesterday went. Sigh. S had the stent to her liver removed yesterday. An hour appointment took 3 waiting for the specialist to see her afterward. She ended up her discharging herself as the nurse said he could be another hour and a half. Hopefully this end of the liver dysfunction problems now.

Our Family Support Worker stepped into the middle of a dog fight this week trying to save an 11 year old dog tied to a pole waiting for his owner from a vicious attack from a staffy with no collar or lead. The Staffy's owner was there but not able to stop his dog at all. He was finally made to let go when our staff member yelled at one of the spectators (!!!) to pour his bottle of coke on the staffy's face. She then took the injured dog and his owner who had arrived on the scene to the local vet who charged him $750 just for the initial consultation!!!!! Apparently one of the other onlookers had followed them to the vet and generously donated $600. Such a kind woman and apparently there is a fund through RSPCA that will help with the rest of his care. Apparently no one knows the other guy and his vicious dog.

Working both days this weekend. No rest for the wicked! LOL. It's the 20th anniversary for the Women's Group tomorrow and one of the members and her family are organising a 3 course sit down lunch. Very lovely of them, She has rostered friends and family as cooks, servers and clean up crew, Amazing! My job is preparing the hall, games, raffle she has donated the prize though!!!) presentations for founding members and a speech. LOL. We all have to dress up as well of course.

Kia ora Koutou
Well got the stupid laptop functioning again. House is sold they missed the deadline for the other so not sure what is happening. However I need to destash Mosaic stuff I have in the shed. I have to be ruthless now lol. I'm writing a plan this weekend as its only 2 months away. Ive been ignoring grumps and just plodding on. My granddaughter belongs to several groups as she is a part time Actress. She arranged a show for me at home. The group of 3 entertainers set up in the driveway and we watched from my lounge. It was so much fun. 15 mins and off they went to the next place. They entertain Kaumatua in their own homes or resthomes etc. No contact. They sang and danced to old tunes that took me back to my childhood. It was absolutely fabulous.
I tried to get some of the neighbours over as we have a huge deck but everyone in our Community are quite fearful. Gave up trying to explain the no contact with anyone policy.
That poor dog and what a wonderful donor.
Nice to hear from you other girls.

What a wonderful idea regarding the non contact entertainment. Absolutely brilliant. Anniversary lunch today, the hall is looking fabulous and I was really getting excited about it by the time we left. Today I'm just plain nervous. LOL.

Hope it all went well with the Anniversary Lunch. I had L1 for the night. She is a little character and everyone wanted to play with her. J seems to be her favourite as he is so patient with her. My son enjoyed his first night off without his daughter for months. He slept in ha ha. When he came to pick her up she pointed her finger at him and I swear she was telling him off in baby talk. Then she said 'Up " and gave him kisses. Swung around and gave me a kiss and said 'See Ya ' and off they went.
A nice weekend.

That is very cute. L13 reckons he is sick again today. It's becoming almost a weekly thing and driving me nuts. Hopefully he can be dropped at his Mum's so we can all go to work, he'd be going back there after school anyway.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-21 07:24:00

The lunch was absolutely wonderful, all the ladies seem to have such a good time and it was great seeing the past members that came. They all received their engraved wine glass as a souvenir and they presented me with a beautiful white orchid. Totally unexpected and very overwhelming.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-21 07:27:00
9664

That's fab that everything went so well at the Dinner. Nice idea about the engraved Wine glass.
I had J today as he has had a lot of stomach issues. Tests and more tests sigh. He appeared cheerful enough between bouts of stomach cramps. I believe anxiety plays a huge part in stomach upsets. However best to be sure with J given his history.
I'm still working on the blanket and it is growing. One 20gram ball gives me two rows across. Its a good way to use the small balls up.
We had the Builder for the Purchasers come. Supposedly to do a Builders Report . The whole Family came as well which is a no no. We had an open Home an hour after they arrived. Had to ring the Agent who was shocked and he rang them and told them they had to leave. There we were getting it ready for the Open home and Mum, Dad and 5 kids as well as the Builder are trooping in and out. I was very annoyed. Our Agent who is a lovely young man was so apologetic. He couldn't understand it as he made it clear. Builder only.
Its is not nice when someone is marching around as if they own the place already grrrr.
We have not seen another Property we like yet as the one we did like sold. I think the kids are regretting their decision to sell mmm Too late.

makerealbany - 2020-09-22 17:38:00
9665

Thats such a shame you missed the one you liked. Fingers crossed another one pops up soon. . Oh my gosh, 20gms for 2 rows!!!! I am thinking of the ends to sew in at the finish.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-23 07:11:00
9666

I need to organise my craft a bit better. I knit for the shop each night but haven't done any of my cross stitch for weeks (maybe since Lockdown), trying to crochet dolls blankets for the craft group stall in December and keep up the number of masks we have available to clients at work. Trouble is now I have a bit more time I am enjoying reading again and gardening, of course. Just not enough hours in the day, LOL.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-24 07:50:00
9667

I sew the ends in after 10 rows ha ha. No there are not enough hours in the day. I have so much to do and like you not enough time. I went to the Library today to get some more books and everyone had a mask on.
The Supermarket was not as good lol. The fact that we cant take our own bags in means I have to use those silly plastic bags for vegetables and fruit. So annoying opening them. Off to bed early tonight/

makerealbany - 2020-09-24 19:33:00
9668

Are you saying you can't take your own bags in because of Covid restrictions? Haven't heard of that before. Even during the first lockdown we all took our reusable bags, we just to pack them ourselves.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-25 07:35:00
9669

Despite the weather going back to wintry conditions this week, I have had a bit of spring fever this weekend. LOL. I have moved furniture around and bought new shelving etc for the Lego plus a wee library nook in our bedroom for a quiet space. Not sure we have done the right thing or not but have also bought a pool table. Last week it was electronic battleships. Must be going through our 2nd childhood, I think.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-28 07:11:00
9670

No we are not allowed to take our own bags into the Supermarkets up here. I can take them into the Asian Supermarket but everyone who goes in there must wear a mask . Its great there.
The property has sold and now I really need to downsize as I have decided not to go with A. After 15 years I need a change of pace. T wants me to go and live with her and we will have to get a wee place built for me. Its a wrench after always being with M with J since they were born but its time. I will have more time for me.
Its hard trying to let things go . So this week I shall concentrate on doing just that lol.

makerealbany - 2020-09-28 21:19:00
9671

That will be hard for A and the kids letting you go, too. Good decision for you when it clears your workload a bit. I worry 'cos when you get sick you really get sick. I'm glad T will be close by when you need someone. It could be fun to set up another wee cottage. I remember when you moved into this one. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2020-09-29 07:09:00
9672

Most of the knitting I did last night I had to pull back before I went to bed. Darn it! Read the wrong part of the pattern when I was struggling to stay awake to finish the movie I was supposed to be watching. Multi-tasking not working this week.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-01 07:20:00
9673

I've done that and I don't like undoing it all either lol. We are having a meeting at T's on Saturday to make a plan. We have also decided to bring our Caravan back from the Beach. It costs us $4000 a year for the lease at the Caravan Park and considering we will all be living 2 streets from the Beach in Orewa and with times being as they are, its an unnecessary expense.
Ive nearly finished the blanket. I seem to do a couple of rows and fall asleep ha ha.

makerealbany - 2020-10-01 20:11:00
9674

Sounds sensible, everyone seems to be making these choices lately. Oh except us.... our new pool table arrives today. Trouble with having a bigger house....you tend to fill it. We have decided to continue our living arrangements as it seems to be working for all of us at present especially being close to L's high school. These 2 years together have gone so fast.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-02 07:07:00
9675

We were supposed to be cruising on the Kaiapoi River for lunch today but the wind has got up and the river running high so cruise postponed. Still able to go for lunch as it has been prepaid and catered, Oh well. More disappointing for the friend who organised this for her 50th. I need to load a stash of sewing patterns on to TM today and get a bit more gardening done.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-04 09:40:00
9676

Everything is getting in the way of the gardening !!! Grrr

grizzly4 - 2020-10-06 07:18:00
9677

I spent the weekend at T's cleaning sheds lol. Today I sold some mosaics and yesterday I sold a box of beads. Both sold within 5 mins of listing. I'm being very generous but I need to in order to get rid of things. I gave away some larger tiles and two boxes of J's toys today as well. I did take things to the op shop for T yesterday.
Know what you mean about filling the house. Never ever doing that again ha ha.
What a shame about the cruise. Yes your friend would have been very disappointed. J is 10 today. We had a birthday tea for him with his friends and two of his older cousins as they cannot be here on Sunday for his Party. J is away up North then and A is performing in a show in Gisborne. It was nice of the girls to come over after work. J was still in he work gear ha ha. J was so happy they came.

makerealbany - 2020-10-06 23:36:00
9678

I'm glad they all made a fuss of him. I'll bet he is looking forward to his party.
I haven't worked in shop last 2 Mondays because of being tied up with Holiday Programme at work. Here was me thinking I would have quite a stash to take in next Monday but nope. 3 things so far.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-07 07:16:00
9679

I am so glad it's the last day of the holiday programme. It's exhausting trying to manage 2 jobs which should both be full time. Need to seriously look at some changes for January. It's been so long since I managed to get into the garden I might as well start from scratch again. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-09 07:10:00

OMG my message disappeared again. I was on Post the Parcel and that kept disappearing. It took me ages to send my parcels ugh

makerealbany - 2020-10-11 23:53:00
9681

Well that worked. What have you been up to. Thought you were going to slow down. Working 2 fulltime jobs is not slowing down. Hope you had a relaxing weekend. We have been flat out. Children everywhere but loads of fun.
I have been selling all sorts so its been a productive week for me.

makerealbany - 2020-10-11 23:57:00
9682

Me too, with clearing out sewing patterns I will never use. Busy weekend here as well, trying to catch up with all the house stuff not done. I feel like I have reclaimed my home back now. LOL. And got the front gardens sorted with some help from son S. I had another fairisle snowflake border to do for a customer so put on the new Outlander DVD and 3 hours later it was done. Also finished another crossover cardy but not sure if I will get a chance to sew it up at the shop so it can stay there. At least we are back to a normal routine this week and L is back.too.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-12 07:30:00
9683

Its raining so at lest I have a good excuse for not moving pots today ha ha.
I'm ignoring the tedious emails about Maori Land Issues today. I'm not going to clean out a thing. I'm going to finish that darn blanket and watch TV.

makerealbany - 2020-10-13 10:57:00
9684

If you made that happen, I would be very envious. LOL. Cold here today and going to be wet apparently. Typical the one day I need L to bike home. Oh well, just as well we women are great multi taskers. I found a new bootee pattern that uses up small amounts of 8ply wool and are very quick to do.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-14 07:19:00
9685

Just have to do the edging. I'm going to T's for the night and taking a car load of Pot Plants. Just waiting for the Plumber. I haven't had any hot water for two days and cold showers don t wash ha ha. Sell the house and things go wrong lol. I might have to go to my son W's home on the weekend to get some wool. I sent it all over there.
What are you doing biking home? What about your knees and legs. Take it easy .

makerealbany - 2020-10-15 12:24:00
9686

Haha!!!!! Very funny picturing me on a bike. It's L I needed to bike home not me. But so far I have managed to get to his school almost on time each day.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-16 07:41:00
9687

And so we start another week..... More gardening done this weekend than knitting and off to Blenheim on Friday for the weekend. I haven't seen my parents since Christmas so really looking forward to it.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-19 07:27:00
9688

Mmmm.... L13 took matters in his own hands yesterday and refused to go back to his mother's. We were all at work and had no idea he had come back here after school and he kept hanging up on her when she was calling his cell to find out where he was. While I had a late meeting the drama continued here with the son S meeting with L and ex-DIL. L got to have his say at long last but is still going back there today. I hope there are no repercussions once he is out of our reach but I guess he can get himself back here. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-20 07:22:00
9689

I did picture you on a bike ha ha. Well L13 is getting to that stage where hes becoming aware of what is going on around him. I remember J17 was the same at that age. Yes he will come back if he is feeling that it is the best place to be.
I'm off again tomorrow to Hamilton. I'm going to stay the night at my sister's after the Meeting. Looking forward to a catch up. I have been so busy destashing sigh.
It will be lovely to see your parents.
I had to go and see my grand daughter Alex yesterday. Little Teddy that I looked after for three years died. He was 15 which is a good old age for a Moodle. She is devastated. We buried him in their back yard near her bedroom window. A is 23 and he was her first and only pet. Out of all of my grandchildren she and S32 are the real animal lovers. They looked after their dogs as if they were their kids.
Now S32 is starting to worry because his old dog is the only one of the trio left.
I'm waiting for a guy to pick up a folding pet cage. This is the tenth person who said he would come and pick up. Fingers crossed ha ha

makerealbany - 2020-10-20 16:57:00

So sad about Teddy passing. He certainly got to a good age though, must have been all the love and care he received during that time. Have a good trip and I hope the meeting goes well.

Home again after a great visit with Mum and Dad and nearly finished the knitting I took up with me as well. Between sleeping in their spare bed, planting 56 bedding plants for Mum and travelling, pain levels are not great today but sense of achievement is high. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-26 10:04:00
9692

So glad you had a good visit with your Mum and Dad. Planting sounds delightful lol. I had a very good Meeting and everything went well for my sister. We stayed up most of the night talking ha ha. We spent the day at the beach yesterday E8 and I went for a walk and built sandcastles whilst everyone else went swimming. E broke her toe on the Jungle Jim so wasn't allowed to swim. Little L1 went marching down to the water with her Dad. She loves to play in the water. He takes her out and under she goes holding on to Dad like a little Limpid Mine. We took the trailer to the tip and now I have to get it loaded with pots to take to T's. The guy came and picked up the Dog Pen but Ive decided to keep the one I had at the beach because it folds flat and someone in the family may use it ha ha.
Haven't even considered knitting anything yet as I'm still destashing when I can. It is never ending but I have three quarters of my shed clear now. I'm watching the garden. As lillies pop up I'm putting them in pots.

makerealbany - 2020-10-26 22:01:00
9693

Sounds like you are doing really well. I have today off to use up some annual leave but it's raining so no gardening unfortunately. I will so up the jersey instead.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-27 07:44:00
9694

No rain here. We need it. I am taking a load up to T's today. My SIL is picking up his new ute today so is eager to tow the trailer and see how it goes ha ha. Never seen anyone so keen to tow the trailer. It is a lovely day here. Enjoy your day.

makerealbany - 2020-10-28 09:18:00
9695

Boys and their toys, eh? The weather cleared up enough yesterday for the Women's Group to play a round of mini-golf but it's raining again this morning which is not in the forecast. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2020-10-29 07:26:00
9696

Had to buy water lol. I'm going to spend the night in Rotorua with my sis. She is doing well. Cleared for two things. Just waiting on the last results. Its been a hellish couple of years for her. I have a Land Hui on Saturday there as well.
Hopefully the boys will get the Caravan from the beach while I'm away. Maybe ha ha. Found some more wool I had stashed in the blanket box so Ill knit L a cardi.

makerealbany - 2020-10-30 08:26:00
9697

I hope everything went well for your trip. I guess that new ute was pretty desperate for a trip to pick up the caravan. LOL. It's been a hard week pain wise but managed to weed a couple of small gardens yesterday. The coughing doesn't help either. Have finished a few little things for the shop tomorrow. I'm still trying to finish up the wools sitting beside my chair before getting more out. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2020-11-01 09:59:00
9698

OMG, what is it that people do not follow the basic rules of respect and courtesy!!!? I am surrounded by people who think they are entitled to do things the way they want regardless of how it affects others around them and the organisation they are part of. It's driving me nuts!

grizzly4 - 2020-11-03 07:25:00
9699

Thank goodness for knitting, so therapeutic on those bad days. Women's Group is having a stonecarving session today. The finished product will hopefully look like an owl. LOL.

Had a great Hui in Rotorua. Sparks flew all around the hall haha. We the shareholders ( about 200 ) of us would not pass the financials. Chairman just gave up after 30 mins or so. I spent the night at my sisters and we had a late chatty time. I drove home in lousy weather. Then opened my email to find I had a two hour Zoom class on Sunday at 2. What a scramble ha ha. I had to go to T's as she worked out of town on Monday night, Arrived home last night then found out I have a Funeral on Saturday so I had to rearrange the Zoom meeting for the Trust which was to have taken place on Saturday. We had it tonight at 7. Decided I quite enjoy zoom meetings until someone disappears ha ha. In between that I am still destashing and packing. Only have one more trailer load of pots and outdoor furniture to go. Boys cannot bring caravan back until next weekend because of the Funeral as they all need to be there to get it out of the bush. I love owls. I do have a jewellery collection of owls somewhere in the cosmos.
