I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

I wish you all the best tarshlove, there are lots of us in this thread who are either partners of or have had heart surgery so if you need/want to natter, come and chat with us.

Here's a pic of the booties knitted in 4ply using 3.25mm needles, average tension. I suppose if you want bigger boots using 4ply, you could increase needle size to 3.5mm. Am going to try this as a friend has a very bonny baby boy growing fast!

And no, the tape measure isn't back to front, it's a left handed measure and reads right to left. Love it, saves me reading numbers upside down all the time.

Soo cute Kiwimade...
Im not going to write the pattern out until at least after the carpet is replaced.. Otherwise this blanket wont get done lol.
I have quite a lot of 4ply.. And Its still accessable lol

I wanted a bright pink last night for the blanket. went and looked.. Theres three plastic crates in front of the pantry door and a big box of books.. So the pink can wait lol.

Gosh this lounge is big lol... Been a long time since it was this empty ..

Those 4ply boots look gorgeous ,no excuses now to use up the bigger balls of left overs, then with what's left I do my crochet squares.

Afternoon ladies, what a busy day. Two loads of washing, then went out to the boat, ran the motor - it started making funny noises so I turned it off. Paul says he will have a look next time he's here - I already have a list of things for him to do, he says he will be here for a weekend.

Then I washed the car and dried it off with a chamois - didn't wax it today, that can be done another day, then I mowed the little lawn twice, once with the blades on the highest setting, then with it on the middle setting, I'll do it again in a few days hopefully on a lower setting.

Decided I would cook a few bits on the barbecue, but halfway through cooking the gas bottle ran out of gas, so it's now on the stove. I must admit I'm hungry as I had no lunch, then I think I deserve to sit and relax for a while. I might even sew the buttons on the little cardi I made.

Night all.

A busy day indeed Kuaka. BTW did you get yesterdays herald? The witch put in a notice.
Im sure Paul wont mind doing anything you have on the list by the time he gets there.
Ive done two loads of washing. The last is in the dryer now.
Moved some more stuff, we are down to the basics now.. So I have a week to please myself again.

Just about to dish up dinner then Ill have a quick looky on here and facebook and then watch Mastermind.

Have a pleasant evening everyone

No, popeye, I cancelled the Herald subscriptions, 'cos I hadn't read one for weeks, and it's basically money I can't justify, as it looks like I'll only be using them for firelighters. Will pm you.

morning ladies :) People eh kuaka, takes all sorts.

I knitted the booties using 4ply and 3.5mm needles and this increased the boot size by aprox a centimetre. Will knit another pair using a different pattern today and will then be able to give my friend two pair of booties for her wee boy. The pair I knitted as part of the baby shower gift are already too small!

Looks like we're in for a wet day today (finally!) so it will be a good day for knitting.

Happy knitting :)

Morning

Love the little booties Kiwimade will make some to go with the Cardy I am doing, just need newborn size so they will be ideal.

Minimal stuff around is nice Popeye when my living area was redecorated I didn't put everything back into it and loved more space, unfortunately a couple of years later it has filled up a bit - good in theory but not in practice lol.

Lovely day here again so will be getting outside and take it from there as just what gets done.

Have a good day

Morning everyone to
The witch and the Ugly Blister live in lala land I reckon Kuaka. Glad you were able to see it .
We have had rain through the night. not Col, I ended up sleeping with my face on a cold hot water bottle. Coughing a lot still and Im sore again from the coughing.. Wish it would just go away, its over a month now.

Yeah I don't think everything will be coming back out to the lounge.

Im seriously considering getting rid of my collection of Old kids books and albums. I will keep the Enid Blytons tho. Meaning that will give me clear shelves in the lounge and two free bookshelves in the bedroom.
I have some people in mind, they are setting up a museum and I know they have books the same cos I gave them a box full a couple of years ago.

Funny thing is Ive never read any of these books, even when I was a kid. I started reading Mills and boons when I was about 12.. was too busy outside to read books when younger lol.

Ive done 32 squares now, so slowly but surely.

Have a fab day all, looks like we are going to have a mix of sun and rain

Morning ladies, yes popeye, I'm pleased I saw it too. Paul and Virginia were just as gobsmacked as I was. I was fuming. Beloved first wife Lorna - he hated her, loved grandad of da de da de da, he's never met half of them, never met Darrin, had one 3 minute visit from Rodney in 25 years, and he was off his head on something or other (P probably) so he wouldn't even remember. And the one who placed the notice is just heartbroken, and so she should be after shunning her father for 38 years. Don't know why she bothered to visit just 4 weeks before he died, or why she showed up at his funeral after being told he didn't want her there and to respect his wishes. I just find it amazing, it's like two different families, one half is normal and the others are nutters.

Anyway after that revelation I didn't get any knitting done, so must try to do some today.

Have to nip to town briefly, then I have someone coming to hopefully replace a length of guttering, which has been funneling water down onto the corner of the workshop and has rotted some timber which is letting the water leak into the workshop. Hoping that we will at least stop it from getting any worse. Mr K was going to do the guttering years ago but it was never high on his list of priorities, but it should have been.

Nice and sunny today, bit cool earlier but it's warm now. No sign of rain, so maybe we don't get any today. Fingers crossed.

Have a super day everyone.

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. We had a lovely sunny w/end which was great as we had family visiting. They made there way home today. So not alot of knitting done. Got to get some done this week.

The bootie pattern comes in two sizes you see them on Ravelry under mariannalazydaisydays. or so on mariannalazydaisydaysblogsport-
.co.uk.
Marianna designs all her own patterns and are test knitted by some great knitters. I have test knitted for her some time ago. May do some test kniintg for her over the winter
Kiwimade64 you may like some of her baby patterns to knit for your new grandchild.

Kuaku great to hear you have been out and about. .Paul would be proud of you going out to the boat at the w/end..

Popeye new carpet on the floors how lucky you are. Once we finish repainting I would like carpet down. At present we have lovey timber floors. Two out of three bedrooms had carpet down when we moved in,We replaced soon after.

Another load of washing done so time to move.
Where every you are, have a great day!!

Good afternoon already. We are getting some wind gusts but no rain yet.
I have spent the morning sewing up 60 small crochet squares done in 4 ply. Donated to me for Plunket. Finished off two fronts and the Brand on the knitting machine of a little cardie.
Having a bit of a rest as my shoulders and arms are aching.
Expecting a phone call,so might do a crossword till then.

morning ladies. The Furry One is being joined by the Fluffy One today, my sister's dog is coming to stay for a few days. So it will be madness for a while as they chase each other silly. All good though, they keep us well and truly entertained.

I have two pairs of booties to give to my friend today and after I have done the groceries will start knitting for my little great niece due August.

We've had rain overnight, lightening and thunder and more to come today. Am glad I mowed the lawn Sunday so I can relax a bit over the garden and knit later on today.

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies, off to hospice this morning for a massage, then if I have time get a few groceries (maybe have a quick squizz at an op shop) and then home for lunch then out for my usual mah jong afternoon.

I did an interesting exercise last night and copied that newspaper notice in as though I was placing the notice. Cost would have been $240.40 - very interesting that they can spend that sort of money to publish a load of lies, but when the youngest one showed up at Easter for her first visit in 38 years, all she could manage to give her father was a $5.99 "get well" card - as though that is an appropriate thing to give someone who is so ill they are not going to recover.

Anyway, they have just made themselves look stupid, so I will have to be satisfied with that.

Better get myself moving. Will take my knitting with me just in case there's a delay in having the massage. Have a little pair of bootees on the go. So easy. I really love that pattern.

Have a super day everyone.

Im going to pop up and do my INR today. Take a cat cage back to the vets that my friend has been carrying around in her car for a month or so. And get Madam Miss some more bikkies. shes eating a little more now its trying to cool down lol.

Will do some more crochet, Im enjoying it again now.

morning ladies :) was woken by two doggies wanting my attention and breakfast would be great too thanks mum!

I started knitting a matinee jacket last night for my new great niece, it's a pattern I've knitted before for our grandy. I already have a beanie and a pair of booties in the same wool so the jacket can add to it and make a set of sorts. I might knit a baby's blanket for them as well.

Two more sleeps and we are off to Napier, does anyone know what craft/wool shops there are at Napier? We will be stopping at Taupo for lunch so will sneak in a quick visit to Lindcraft (MrK doesn't know about the Lindcraft bit yet lol).

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone
Google should help you re the wool/ craft shops in Napier Kiwimade.

Ohh I can imagine two expectant faces looking at you lol.

Got up early to take the car to the garage, the heater is still leaking, so we will get it blocked off. Far less work than having it taken out and repaired.
Just as well I was up, the courier came to pick up a parcel, so I opened the door far enough to pass it out and that's it cos I was still in my nightie lol 7am this was lol.

Im over a quarter of the way for the blanket, have settled on 12 x 12 squares. But if I decide its not big enough its easy enough to add more.

Have a fab day all

Morning ladies, bit cooler this morning but it looks as though it might be a nice day (although it could all turn to custard later - who knows?)

I thought I would take a pic of the little cardi I made, and look what happened:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/479938405.jpg

so here's another one:

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/479937987.jpg

You can't see the cables very well, but it was quite interesting to knit, the cables are down the fronts besides the bands and down the raglan sleeves, back and front and it's knitted top down on circular needles, but back and forth, then divide for the sleeves. I managed to get a hole at the underarm (I suspect because I left the sleeve stitches on a needle holder rather than threading yarn through the stitches - and I think that stretched the edges - might do the pattern again and put yarn in the stitches next time and see if that helps) I quite enjoyed doing it. It's a charity one with yarn they supplied. Going to post it today.

Knit and natter this morning, then hopefully I have someone coming to see me about doing some painting on the boat. Once it's tidied up I can put it on the market. I can do some of the work on the boat, but I'm not going up the masts to paint them!

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
Cooler today so n
Not as keen to get up but had to go outside 7ish as forgot rubbish bag, but grabbed a coffee and back under blankets after putting washing on.

Love the photo Kuaka, does the Cardy have cables on it (as well as the intruder?). It looks a cute pattern

Kiwimade Not a lot of craft shops in Napier, my "go to" one is Skeinz in Husheer place in the Onekawa industrial area, it is an outlet shop attached to a factory - open 10am to 3pm. Reasonable prices and good bargains at times.
There is a craft Shop in Onekawa shopping centre and 2 in Taradale shopping centre which are easy to find as only one shopping street in Taradale.

Finished the beanie, now to do some booties to go with it and the Cardy I've nearly finished - somehow enthusiasm for doing the bands waned.

Have a good day

Love both pics, Kuaka! Pets just have to be into everything, don't they? The wee cardi looks very nice - love the cables especially the ones down the raglan shaping.

Love the cables Kuaka, is it a Ravelry pattern and what ply is it done in?

jayemtoo - 2016-05-18 09:29:00
9626

It's called "sunnyside cardigan" by Tanis Lavallee - Tanis Fibre Arts. The pattern says to use sock yarn, I just used 4 ply - it's acrylic that I was given by Little Sprouts charity who I've sent it to, but I wasn't overly impressed with the way the yarn knitted up, but I liked the pattern. Would come up lovely done in a nice 4 ply merino. There's two options on the pattern, lace or cables. They both look nice.

Good morning. Yes it cooler today was going to K& N this morning, changed my mind and will hit the gardens today
.
Kiwimade we are now very lucky for wool stores in Napier. Wool 'n' Things has changed hands, daughter has taken over and is bring alot of wool from around the world. Costly but nice to look at .FB woolnthingsnz. Open till 2pm Saturdays or 9-5.30 weekdays.. Skeinz wool milll is open 10am -2 pm Saturdays otherwise 10-3pm. They have a Website which is keeped updated daily. Check FB and Ravelry.
Kiwiworld and Spotlight are both in Hastings.

Creative Fibre HB have their bi annual sale at present but closes today. You would have picked up some lovely knit wear at good prices. Check out FB ' HB CreativeFibre'
.Pennylane in Waipawa south of Hastings is worth a look for homespun wool and knitwear. Waipawa has some very good 'Art n "Craft' shops on main road
Hope you enjoy your visit.
At present knitting squares with different stitches using up odd bites and pieces in 8ply. I think it be an on going project over winter.
Finished my cuppa so I better move.

Whatever you do, Enjoy Day!

Love the Cardy and Kitty Cat Kuaka. Love the idea of the cables down the raglan.
Kitty is a real Torty isn't she.

Yeah You wouldn't catch me up a boats mast either. MrP used to be a painter, and thought nothing of climbing flag poles with a sponge in a bucket of paint. He would wrap the sponge around the pole and slide down lol.

Sounds like Napier and surrounding districts have a few good spots to go to, wool wise.

Have had the heater blocked off now.. They suggest we get the radiator flushed soon too.. But it will have to wait, we have to pay for the disability parking this month. And of course the rent is going up a little.

Have done 2 squares and sewn in ends on three from last night. Ill keep plodding along.

And good news.. Missy has finally accepted my slippers lol

I've come to the conclusion that I have too many patterns! Just googled "sunnyside cardigan" - when I saw the other pics I realised that I had already downloaded the pattern a few years ago! I have absolutely no idea just what I've got, as most of my patterns are just in the computer - I don't print them out unless I intend to make them. Maybe I'll sort the computer out one of these days. Speaking of which - have just purchased a new laptop - hubby having problems getting sorted, so maybe my patterns will get sorted (as in "lost") any day now.

tinybaldone - 2016-05-18 15:43:00
9634

Oh dear tiny - I know when I got my laptop it nearly drove me crazy at first, and when I bought the ipad, I came close to chucking it out the window. Wouldn't be without it now.

I've just applied online for my passport, so that trip away is getting closer. Well maybe not actually closer, but at least I'll be ready when the opportunity arises.

Going to sit and knit for a while. I took my knitting to knit and natter this morning, cast on and did two rows, had the wrong number of stitches on the needles. Frogged it, tried again, two rows later, still got the wrong number of stitches, so it got frogged again, and luckily I'd taken my c2c blanket as well, so did some of that.

kuaka - 2016-05-18 15:52:00
9635

Well I can't believe how dumb I am. I had cast on the right amount of stitches, but I increased 4 times on the increase row instead of increasing on the first and last stitch and making two stitches in the middle, but I also purled two rows instead of one on my next attempt and then I managed to do two increase rows without a purl row in between, so it's in the naughty corner at the moment, and back to the c2c blanket. Think I need a glass of red to calm my nerves.

kuaka - 2016-05-18 16:56:00
9636

Oh dear Kuaka - sounds to me like you need more than one glass of red! Good luck.

First one went down quite easily, might have a second. Now that the bottle is open, I daren't risk it going off, so better have at least one more, then I can finish it tomorrow!

kuaka - 2016-05-18 17:30:00
9638

morning ladies ') Good thinking kuaka! You can't leave a bottle of red open for too long lol.

Housework today for me and a bit of packing. MrK has built me an awesome wooden crate to pack foodstuffs in like bottles and tins. Stuff that will rattle around and needs to be standing without knocking into each other. Think I will keep it in the boot of the car for grocery shopping.

The Furry and Fluffy Ones have been racing round, I have them at my feet now, it is just madness the way they chase each other lol.

Have almost finished the wee matinee jacket, one sleeve to go. A cold wet day was just the inspiration I needed to sit and knit yesterday. Will sort out what knitting I'm taking with me to Napier, have a lovely salmon pink to knit up (4ply) so want to do something special with it.

happy knitting :)

Have an very dear friend of Mr Ks coming today, he wants to go to the cemetery and say goodbye as he wasn't able to come to the funeral. I'm going to nip to the supermarket for some flowers and a couple of bits, then come home and blitz the family room which looks like a war zone at the moment.

I couldn't believe how much trouble I had with that simple bootee pattern yesterday, I've done several rows of it this morning without any problems at all. Yesterday I just could not get it right. Go figure!

Right, must away and get organised.

Still working on the squares. Was watching Antiques Roadshow last night and a woman had a pretty fabric scarf on in Pink, lemon, blue and white, So I made a couple of squares in the same colour lol.

Good Morning to a very windy morning.
The wind keeped us awake during the night. It was a busy time in the garden yesterday as I had a large flex plant removed and taken away. The lawns mowed and leaves off athe lawn, needs doing again.
It was sad to hear that our guy had his van broken into and had hims tool taken. He only got a small run at present and building it up. Works in a packhouse /office.hIs Boss let him replace his edge, rleaf.blower and chainsaw now another bill as he pays him back.. It not fair when someone working 7 days and long hours to get lawning/garden business off the ground and save for a house too..6.30pm last night knock on our door here he was dropping a 6-7kg bag of pears of to his customers.

Last night I opened a bag of bright coloured 8ply wool thread waste.. Now in balls ready to knit. Skeinz spin, dye and colour yarn for other business and if you in at the right time you can pick up some good deals.. It works out at 2.50 for 50grms. Worth looking in the boxes when visiting
Kiwimade it worth looking out for it on your visit. here at the w/end.

Have shopping to do. and a trip to the the Drs with My DH. He is in so much pain from his hip and base of his back. Last 4 nights I have been up getting him a hot drink. Broken sleep is starting take a toll on both of us.

Take care and enjoy your day everyone..

carton - thank you, it's not easy - some days are worse than others. Today didn't work out quite as I'd planned, I got home from the supermarket (was only gone about 25 minutes) and found our friend waiting on the doorstep. He brought lunch with him so I didn't have to worry about that. We didn't get as far as the cemetery but he says he will come for another visit soon and we will make a point of going up there. Also says I can go down and visit him any time (especially if the witches are giving me grief and I need to get away). I think he is lonely since his wife passed away, but he's always cheerful and good fun, so he cheered me up and had some good advice re how to cope over the next few months and ideas on what to do re the house etc. Something to think about.

Right, time to cook tea.

Morning ladies, well today I really must have a tidy up seeing as I didn't do it yesterday, so our friend had to sit and chat with all my muddle around us. He didn't seem to mind, but I suspect his place is far tidier.

I had a long chat with Mr Ks eldest daughter last night, and then promptly fell asleep, woke after 11 and looked at the dishes but went to bed instead, so this morning I have yesterday's breakfast, lunch and tea dishes to do. Groan! Might just chuck them all in the dishwasher for a change.

Cup of tea before I do anything, and then a second one and then I can face the day, might just do the last four rows of rib on that pesky second bootee. Oh did I mention that I discovered yesterday I had dropped a stitch and missed an increase and had to unravel half of it. Sometimes I wonder why I bother when thing just never seem to go right.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning
How frustrating Kuaka with that bootie - the silly thing is just trying to annoy you!
Safe travels Kiwimade (if it is today you head to Napier - otherwise enjoy your stay). Supposed to be a nice day today going up to 24 but changing for the weekend.

Have a "business" day today - paying bills, into town to sort out a few things and dentist, not my favourite place to visit! Might have to treat myself by going past the wool shop as it's just around the corner but probably won't be able to afford anything by then.

Will try and finish off the bands on the Cardy today 5 stitches only but seems to take ages and tedious.

Have a good day

Ohh Kuaka how frustrating.. Sometimes things just don't work eh.

Jayemtoo I have needles I have shortened for doing toys and bends etc.. Less effort than swapping long needles.

Im moving the last stuff today, that we can live without until Monday

MrP is very lucky he still has his head on his shoulders.. Last night he suggested that I wash the skirting boards, which is probably a good idea. But since he has only moved two plastic container, which are on wheels, he was mad to suggest I do even more.
I bit my tongue..lol

He doesn't know yet, but he is on dishes duty today.

Might find time to do a square or two when Im resting my back

Have a fab day all
