| 9559 | Morning ladies, another dreary day, thick mist/light drizzle, what my uncle would call "mizzle". Not cold though so not complaining. I went to mah jong yesterday afternoon and a couple of people asked how I am and I just said "I'm okay till someone asks so please don't ask or you'll start me off" and another lady handed me what was obviously a sympathy card from someone else, I thanked her and said "I won't open it till I get home, or I will be a mess" so she said she understood, gave me a hug and we carried on and enjoyed our afternoon. Going to knit and natter later this morning, then I really must tackle the sewing job I've been putting off for a couple of days, plus I have a stack of ironing to do - that's the problem when you have heaps of washing, you end up with heaps of ironing. I made one of those little bootees yesterday, didn't take me much longer than the time it took to drink a coffee (mind you I always drink coffee half cold). Super quick and easy. I should get a bit more knitting done today, the back and fronts are knitted as one piece until you get to the armholes. I have another pattern lined up for when I'm finished and am thinking maybe of adding a small blanket to the set. Will see how I go. Didn't have quite such a good day yesterday, was a bit "down" and frequently weepy. Hoping for a better day today. No real plans as yet, although the usual Friday knit and natter group which was always at the same place as the Wednesday one, is this week starting up at the new community centre and is going to be on a Thursday, so I might go along to that with a friend. Yesterday after a lot of faffing around I managed to cut out that sewing job, so I might overlock the edges this morning before I go out and then try to do the sewing this afternoon. Might - might not! The day looks pretty grey and overcast, but again not cold, so I'm not complaining, I'd rather have grey and warm, than sunny and cold - I think. Have a super day everyone. I coughed so hard this morning she fell off lol Spoke to our landlord yesterday, the unit next door is costing $15k to get it to normal. The idiots had a leak, they told the landlord when she handed in the notice. Said they would get the plumber in and didn't. 9 weeks later, there are rotten cupboards etc etc We are getting new carpet Yippee.. and I have 11 days to clear all the little stuff and they will move the furniture for us. So we will sit out the front with Missy in her cage. It wont take them long. A Slight increase in rent, but we offered that too, so that's good. we are still very lucky. Almost finished this wee jacket, one more sleeve and the collar to knit. Tried to find some buttons at the Sallies yesterday and out of a big basket full of them, found nothing! So it's not just my button jar then lol. They had a good range of knitting needles too so I looked for a 3.75mm metal pair... and nothing lol. Oh well, wasn't my day. Housework today, the Furry One will love it as he 'helps' me vacuum. Having an extra 8 kilos dangling off the end of the vacuum cleaner is great for the muscles but not so great for the cleaner. | 9578 | Morning ladies, thick fog here this morning. mndy1, altering the crotch on pants can be tricky, but the easiest way is to unpick the seam which goes up the insides of the legs towards the crotch and the back and front seams from the crotch up a little way. Then if you have a similar pair which fit you well, turn the pants and put one leg inside the other, so you just have the outline of one leg to work with. Do the same with the ones you want to alter, place the fitting ones on top of the ones that need altering and mark, cut and sew. Hope I've explained that clearly. Come back to me if you don't understand what I'm trying to say. Or maybe have a look on youtube. Plan to go to the supermarket for a few bits later this morning, and then after lunch I'm going to see a lady I have known for close to 30 years but haven't seen for about 15 years, she's just moved up from the bay of plenty and now lives about 2km up the road. Be good to catch up with her. Going to try to do a bit more sewing before I go out. Shouldn't really take me all that long to finish this sewing job, then I have another small one to do for our young friend who took us fishing last week - he wants a button sewn on a pair of shorts - he apologised for not providing the button. | 9588 | Afternoon ladies, well I slept in till nearly 8 this morning, and after sorting a few things walked to town to listen to the live country music which is on just about every street corner. Decided to call in at the craft market so I could join the local Arts and Crafts group, which I have done, so I'm ready to do markets sometime this coming season (they don't start again till August I believe) and while there met a couple of the mah jong/knitting group ladies who said they were going for a coffee and would I like to join them, so I said I would, but called in quickly at the op shop on the way. So spent a pleasant half hour or so having coffee and chat, and then walked home. Called in at the cemetery on the way and had a few words with Mr K and told him I miss him, and then came home. Was going to mow the little lawn and sweep the deck but we've just had a really heavy shower and now we have light rain, so that's the end of that idea. On the other hand, you could buy the pattern as the lady has gone to considerable effort to write up the pattern. The little cardy looks sweet too so you would be getting the pattern for that as well. I thought I could squeak a pair of booties out of some 4py I had but not quite enough so will unpick and combine with white to make a striped pair. | 9596 | Morning ladies, a late start to the day, I'm afraid. I fell asleep in the chair last night and didn't wake till late, so when I went to bed I was wide awake. At 2.30 I took half a sleeping pill, supposed to make me sleep within half an hour, but at 4 I was still awake, so it was well after 9 when I woke. I don't feel too bad though. It looks as though it's a nice day (suspect we had fog earlier) so I might go out to the boat later if the wind doesn't get up when the tide comes in, otherwise I will wash the car. My lawn needs mowing but it's too long and doesn't dry out. I might have to do it with the mower set very high, then do it again set lower. Grrrr! Finally finished a little 4 ply cardi for Little Sprouts with acrylic they sent me (it was included in the parcel with the wool they sent for the horse blanket), just have a couple of ends to darn in and sew on some buttons. Course I can't find any the right colour so I'm going for darker contrast ones. It's a cute pattern, pic later if I remember. I'd better have some breakfast. | 9597 | Well I have knitted one of the boots in 4 ply using 3.25mm needles and omg there is nothing cuter lol. The sole measures aprox 8cm long and my tension is pretty average. I think it will fit a newborn - time will tell when our new grandy is born lol. Once I knit the matching boot I'll take a pic and post it. | 9599 | tarshlove, go to ravelry and have a look there, type "cardigan" into the patterns search, and then modify the search with "has photo", "crochet", "free", and then the age you want, ie. "newborn", there's 3 pages come up, nothing identical but quite a few are similar and you could possibly adapt. I didn't check the beanies, but there's probably hundreds. I've made dozens of beanies and just nutted the pattern out myself. Good luck. I hope the heart transplant is a success and you can start to enjoy life once you've recovered.
