Shopping this morning , MrP is going to stay home with Missy, we have been out soo much this week.
Had a lovely day out yesterday, and KFC for Lunch, and the left overs for tea. One two piece pack would have been enough for us both, cos we brought home about the same amount as we ate lol

Kuaka, I looked at the death Notice before I read your post.. I said to MrP the Witches didn't get a mention Yee Haa!!!.. And I don't even know there names lol.
Yes getting back to living instead of existing is important, I know how that feels.
I brought a packet of black acrylic on here yesterday, so need to get back into the blanket I started.
Was on my way to the toilet at 6am this morning and got Sung too.. MrP is a crack up sometimes lol

Have some pork to roast for tea tonight,., Yumm

Happy Birthday Popeye. Cooler here today although it got rather warm in the night.
Started doing an edging on the shawl Im knitting but don't really like it so am tediously unpicking it, I usually just pull what I want undone off the needles then pick up the stitches but the pattern doesn't really allow for this so it is stitch by stitch.
I'm off to Hamilton when I get organised for a couple of nights.

Well Paul and I managed to fix the tumble dryer today, the "belt" for want of a better word had snapped, so no tumble, which means no heat. Didn't realise it wasn't tumbling, so $32 for a new belt, which has been fitted and it's okay again. He also finished putting "gunk" on the gap above the window which was letting water into the sewing room. The witch's boyfriend got up the ladder to do it, but only put a tiny squirt at each end of the window, why he wouldn't actually fill the gap is beyond me. Oh that's right, I nicknamed him "dweeb" which seems to sum him up nicely.

We went fishing off the rocks this afternoon just to use up the bait we had left. Paul caught two or three midget snapper, (I've seen bigger fish in the fish tanks at the doctors waiting rooms) and I caught a flipping big stingray which clamped to the sea bed and ended up breaking my line.

Bbq tea, now going to have a frame or two of snooker, and have a toast to Mr K

morning ladies :) That wasn't too bad about your drier kuaka, lucky it was an easy(ish) fix :)

I've almost finished the hoody for our granddaughter, only have the side seams to sew and sew the buttons on. Will start knitting again for the new baby, more 'quick knits'.

First there is housework to do and I have to take the hem up on a new pair of trousers for MrK and a pair of last year's trousers for me (hem came down).

In Hamilton had a very wet trip up yesterday but still nice and warm. Sister and I are going to learn how to make cheese this pm, it is a present from a Niece so should be interesting.

Did a little knitting yesterday am knitting both sleeves together but being on a circular needle I have managed to get one longer than the other! Made me smile as that is why I was doing them together and still managed to not concentrate properly at some stage.

Morning ladies, well no plans for the day as yet, Paul is still asleep. He goes home tomorrow, I will have to be up early as I have to get him to the airport by 6am I think.

He has cooked on the barbecue every day since he's been here, except for the day of the funeral when we went to the club for a drink (they had a minute's silence for Mr K) and we ate there. So from tomorrow I'll be back to cooking again.

Had to smile at your efforts with the sleeves, jayemtoo, because I've always thought that could be a problem if you end up with a sleeve on each needle, how would you know which one you need to knit next. It's the same amount of knitting whether you do them together or separately, I don't have second sock or second sleeve problems.

Wow I reckon you should be Hiring Paul out Kuaka.. What a handy dude to have around.
Ive never knitted two sleeves at once. But I keep a row counter with me and count the first number of rows, write it down then do the same for the second lol
I got the books from the library yesterday, Two weren't that helpful but one Im going to try and get a copy of, is like a bible of Crochet, and I can understand it.. Ive been doing all the basic stitches but now know what they are called lol
I have washing on, and some new black knickers soaking. I figured it might be a good idea to soak them in case there's too much dye in them. Don't fancy a black botty lol

Hi all...well both jerseys finished and passed on. C2c rug going well. About 5 yrs ago I found these 250gm hanks of acrylic that were reccommended for cushion covers. Well they all had labels missing and were 1.00 each and I couldnt resist buying all 10. Well they are crocheting up nicely in the c2c so I am glad I havent dropped them in the op shop when I have a cleanup, as I thought I would never do anything with them.
JM2 interesting to hear your fun with the sleeves, I have yet to have success with circular needles.
Popeye remenber that USA and UK seem to have different names for their crochet stitches. I am just a very basic peggy square crocheter.

Yep SunnySue, that's why I got the books, I know the UK terms.. Im only a basic crocheter, squares and rows.
But I didn't really know the name for the single and double crochets, I know now lol..
My shoulder is aching but Im going to work away on the squares. The bigger hook is annoying me, I cant seem to get into a rhythm with it.. But Ill stick with it.. probably be the slowest blanket Ive ever made lol.

Washing done and drying, two baskets of it put away, finally lol.

Morning ladies, a very different start to the day, had to be up at 5am to get Paul to the airport by 6.30 for a 7am flight to Auckland. I shed quite a few tears when he left, and I will miss him, miss the company and his helpfulness, but we discussed my proposed trip to Sydney on the way to the airport, and I said I want to leave it till I'm not so prone to "juicy eyes" because I want to enjoy it. He says he'll be back maybe in a couple of months. I suggested that maybe next time (or the following visit) I will travel back with him - makes sense. We agreed that was a good idea.

But yesterday we went fishing late afternoon with a young friend and his father and between us we caught 4 snapper, (well Paul caught dozens but they were so small it was laughable - especially if you could see the size of the reel and line he was using), and 3 kahawai, so we brought home two of the snapper and the kahawai as the others didn't want them. Snapper for tea last night, and again for me tonight & tomorrow.

Going to start decluttering the house, and I have to deal with all Mr Ks clothes. Not looking forward to doing that at all. Doesn't all have to be done today.

Also have a sewing job to do for someone, and an endless amount of paperwork to be dealt with.

Have to start crocheting again, as I have an order for a puzzle ball.

I finished the hoodie, am happy with the colour but it is quite 'thin' for double knit. Will post a pic after I have taken it.

Good Morning Ladies. Just about phoned our noise control at 5.30 am this morning LOL . Fog horn started up and still going. Not long back from a morning walk with a friend, The dog enjoyed the walk as much as us. Lots of runners and walkers getting out just as we headed back home.

Worked on my blanket at K & N and last night watching Coro St. Had a look around Loin Brand Yarn free knitting patterns.My next blanket is a mohair one in garter. . Will blanket blanket stitch around the edges so it will keep it shape. Do you think it would work.? I don't crochet.

Kuaku so pleased for you.that Paul and your son have keep you company this last. week Yes you much get your passport renewed, then you can go away when you want too. Just renewing ours. .

Pleased to hear Popeye you and Mr P enjoyed your day out this week.

Well my Banana and Walnut loaf must be cooked as timer has gone off.

Oh and at 11 o'clock last night, the tap on the water filter decided to fall apart. It couldn't have done it the day before so we could get another one and fit it. Paul has managed to put it back together but it's very fragile. What next?

I agree, going back to Aussie with Paul is a great idea Kuaka.

One thing I never understood when my dad and stepdad died was that Mum got rid of their clothes and stuff straight away. With Dad it would have been the following week, cos we got home from school and it was all gone.

I got rid of hers about a month later cos my SIL runs an oppy in their town and they were up for a visit in their camper. they were filled to the gunnels when they left. I kepts anything that was useful to me, like the polar fleece vests . And I kept a nightee and dressing gown set that we had got her for mothers day, early but she never wore it.

Ohh typical of the tap isn't. But I have faith you will get it fixed yourself Kuaka.
I did several squares yesterday, pleased with my effort. Getting my mojo back.
The builders are next door, it must be bad. Probably fixing the walls

My sister and I have just had to move my 98 year old Mum into a home and packing her things away is proving to be very difficult emotionally that's for sure - she has given me all her crochet and knitting WIP - there are piles of them - will put up some photos of the beautiful fine crochet squares etc -one of you may have a suggestion how I could make something of them . Unfortunately all the beautiful laces and braids smell so musty not sure how I will deal with them - found tucked away in a drawer a little story book my Dads mum gave him to celebrate his first day at school - this clear out is going to take us a long tine me thinks

Something to look forward to Kuaka.
Well a fog horn is something different to listen to Sunflowers we had a very noisy motor bike reving up and roaring around the streets at 3.30am.

The cheese making was great fun and the finished results yummy, we made haloumi and ricotta both are quite quick and ready to eat without having to mature.

Nice relaxing evening with the knitting, Cardy is growing nicely. Niece skyped her mum last evening so I was told officially about expected baby by an excited 4 year old, not due till October so she will have to be patient lol.

Off home when I get organised in no hurry.

Gerry You said your mother's lace and braids smell musty I had this problem with my own mothers pieces. This what my sister in law and I did. We put it outside when it was a fine day on sheets turned it over during the day. Did it 3 or 4 days. I took my lot home and rewind it on to fresh card. The inters from glad wrap,tinfoil etc came in handy for the job.
Over the last few years I used them on many projects. and garments.

I decided to tackle the shoes in Mr Ks wardrobe, knowing that it would be a big job. He obviously tried to compete with Imelda Marcos because I have found 32 pairs of shoes, (some brand new) 11 pairs of sandals, 6 pairs of slippers and one pair of leather jandals. He had them everywhere. Under the bed, in the wardrobe, under the chest of drawers, I suspect there's some down in the billiard room that I haven't counted.

The clothing will wait for another day. I don't think it will be so difficult.

Kuaka,I did not think men saved up shoes,sad I know but it did give me a giggle.
Been quite ill this week even spent two days in hospital and I got to thinking how do I declutter,no not my wool and patterns,maybe a few clothes,and I do have a few too many magazines waiting around to do the crosswords.
Then this morning I remembered a tiny ted pattern I thought I might knit,then after looking for it ,remembered I had thrown out a pile of machine knitting magsthat I think maybe contained that pattern.Too bad have plenty more ideas when I feel well enough.

Morning ladies, woke early this morning but didn't get up immediately, instead I planned my day, washing, tidy up, do some sewing, go for a walk, mow the lawns. Got up and discovered it's thick misty drizzle so unless it clears the walk and the lawns are out.

I'm sure I will find something to do.

Cooler this morning, not cold, but combined with the gloomy outlook I decided I need warming/cheering up so have the heat pump on.

morning ladies :) omg kuaka, all those shoes lol. He had more shoes than me! We have the heatpump on this morning too as it is foggy and damp outside.

Might put the gumboots on and finish the weeding I started yesterday even though the bins are all full of prunings and weeds. I found the rabbit burrow where the rabbits were coming in. It was covered with cabbage tree leaves, I stepped on it and sank up to my knee. Gave me a fright but am ok. MrK has filled it with broken concrete and I will top it up with soil. That will stop the little buggars from digging there. No doubt they will find somewhere else to get in.

Did a few more rows on the C2C blanket last night using the last of the 'magic' yarn and royal blue I used on the hoody. Almost finished it, will do more as I knit more and have leftover yarn.

Overcast here but certainly not cold.

Our town will be busy today with the Steel and Wheels family day out thing on. Im hoping my friend takes me out of town. Im not interested in walking through crowds that are packed tight.
She still hasn't told me where we are going. Just that I have to get dressed nice. lol.
OMG Kuaka, I have heaps of shoes I never wear, including new ones. But not that many lol.
I did a few squares yesterday. Im having to raid my balls of wool (although still partly used ones), to get some variation into the squares. Still using the little nuggets for the first two rounds tho.

After a heavy mist/fog yesterday morning ended up lovely and sunny day.After the market ,we had lunch in Havelock. North with some friends who where also out about.

Left DH to sleep in. His hip and lower spine is giving him hell. Has an appointment at the hospital on Wed

I cut down on my shoes after having 20 odd boxes of shoes . Always kept then in their boxes.
Knitted more of my blanket last night. Up late as we watched a film.

Just got home.
My friend picked me up and then made me chose which direction at intersections we got to and she would go the opposite way lol. '
Went over the harbour bridge which is something I haven't done in years.
And went to Spotlight in Wairau Park.. Much better than Manukau.. So of course I felt obliged to buy some wool.
Had lunch in Freedom furniture. Soo many pretty things in there.
Back to Manukau city, to Davids Emporium cos she wanted bean bag filling. And then home
A big day out, but it was lovely not driving and I saw things I had never seen, and Ive never been to Wairau Park before.

Going to buy tea, I cant be bothered cooking.

Had a nice day yesterday - relaxing day then out for a lovely dinner for sisters birthday but as it was also Mother's Day we got a free dessert as a bonus.

Finished the shawl I was knitting just need to block it now then must finish the other 2 things I have on the needles before starting something new.

morning ladies :) We had fog most of yesterday carole and when it did clear, it was a pretty bleak day. Today, no fog just clouds and maybe sunshine so I'm going to be outside for as much as I can.

Sounds like you had a lovely day popeye and were spoiled, good on your friend!

So much for starting to knit for the new baby, the 4ply I have is acrylic, lovely and soft but think I will leave it to knit something else with it. So I started another cardy for our granddaughter to fit her next winter. It's a pretty teal and quite girly. I need to buy some pink 4ply as I'm going to be a great aunt soon so will also knit for this new baby. So plenty of knitting planned over the next few months.

not my best work with the stitching together, the royal blue was quite thin for a double knit and I should have used the mattress stitch. Oh well, good for playcentre anyway.

Morning everyone. Was lovely out there an hour ago. but now overcast.

Feeling a tad hung over from yesterday.. I was sore before we left, so it has all caught up lol. But it was a lovely day.
The malls etc were jammed packed, as were the roads. It was like every family was out cos it was mothers day. lol

Needless to say I didn't do any crochet. And had an early night.

Have to take MrP to the drs today, just to get his script. He will get the dr to refer him back for his hernia surgery too..

Morning ladies, well my day didn't end up as I had planned it. I did some washing (I seem to have an endless supply of washing to do) and fluffed around then went for a walk along the beach in the afternoon, to see a young friend in town who has a sewing job for me (he's the friend that took us fishing the other day) and then walked back along the beach and really enjoyed it - haven't been for a walk for soooooo long. Then had a message from my son last night that he would be here in 10 minutes, he'd been up north fishing and just dropped in on his way home for 15 minutes and gave me some snapper - I never refuse free snapper, so I have snapper for tea tonight and tomorrow night.

I couldn't stay awake, kept dozing off in the chair so I went to bed early, but of course didn't sleep all night.

I have a lady from hospice coming at 10 - not sure what she wants, just to see how I'm coping I think.

I had better get showered and eat. Have some things to take to the op shop later.

Good morning. Just out of curiosity, what stitch do you ladies use to sew up jerseys? Your knitting all seems so lovely. It is all go here at the moment, I live in a "granny flat" attached to my daughter's house, and they are getting ready to sell, so it is painting, gardening, mending etc. I am helping by doing the meals and morning and afternoon tea. It is quite an adventure! Looks like another lovely day - the autumn leaves are falling and the trees look so lovely. Have a lovely day all.

Just come in for a cuppa, trimmed (well hacked lol) a camellia back a bit to make it easier to weed underneath and am halfway through weeding the biggest garden. A friend has dropped in some ducks for us so it's duck for dinner tonight.

Rosynana, I try to use mattress stitch but for that hooddie ^^^ I just sewed an over stitch (and shouldn't have, made a pigs ear of it).

I normally use a back stitch, I've tried the mattress stitch but find it quite fiddly and you do need the exact same number of rows on both bits of knitting or it doesn't work.

I use mattress stitch and gives a nice hidden seam but I don't think I do it quite as others do as I do it from the inside somehow but it seems to work!

3 things I have finished this week - hope I've downloaded the photos properly this time. The mini Ugg boots are the easiest bootie pattern I have found for a while. The purple cardy is supposed to be 3 year old size but I'm not sure but the one it is going to is not big for her age so may still fit ok.

morning ladies :) just lovely knitting jayemtoo, love the ugg boots as well. Makes a change from booties.

I had a wee hissy fit last night, knitting away, come to do the shaping for the front.... helllooooo... no instructions for the size I was knitting. I could fiddle around with it and do it but combined with being cheesed off about the baking I did, I threw it back into my bag and left it. Will have another look today with 'fresh eyes' just in case I missed something.

But first I have some plants to give away to a lady in a gardening group I belong too and mow the lawns.

No real plans today, but if I feel up to it I might go along to my usual Tuesday afternoon mah Jong session, haven't been for weeks, but I will see how I feel at lunchtime.

I suppose I should get up and face the day, but puss seems in no hurry to get up, so I might just have 10 more minutes in bed.
