Going to Stitch & Bitch for an hour later on this morning, if I can drag myself away from the computer long enough to have breakfast and do the dishes!

hi everyone, was busy yesterday bottling apples and freezing beans. The dog got into my wool last night so I spent the evening untangling it. The look on his face was priceless, he knew he was soooo busted!
Been to Hamilton this morning, unpacked the groceries and about to do a bit more to this boat neck jumper I'm knitting. Need some quiet to work through the pattern as I increase in the sleeves.
Happy knitting :)

I love freezing veges and preserving. Just don't get much garden produce any more.

I used to do it all on a coal range many years ago. I loved it. Preserving fruit, proving bread above the range on the rack And if I wasn't making bread Id have a roast in the oven part of it.. As well as heating the water.

Ohh norty dog.. did you think to take a photo Kiwimade?

One of my cats grew up with me knitting, laying on my lap, she knew not to touch it.. Meladdo tho will play if given the opportunity.

Hi everyone
Well I've spent the last couple of days in bed knitting. Have just been visited by the nurse and I'm on another course of antibiotics for my leg (it just refuses to heal). We had a very sad day yesterday as the wee stray kitten we saved last week got sick (feline parvo) and unfortunately he died at the Vets. We are going up to CHCH next weekend and will be bringing our other 2 cats back home with us so Miss 10 will be kept busy with them. We have to keep an eye on our 3 cats here but the Vet is fairly confident they will be fine as they have had their vaccinations, it would seem that Gryffin already had parvo when he came here :-(

Hi TC.... sooo sad re the kitten being too sick. But I think you were meant to make its last days happy .
I didn't know there was feline Parvo. We got a dog years ago that brough Parvo with her. The vet gave me a recipe for a drink for her. It was Baking soda, sugar and water. I had to give her so much every hour, until she hadn't been sick for 24 hours.
She came through it and was a lovely ginger girl. Called Ruby. So it might be possible with cats too.

But I think she found you to have her last few days being loved.

Not good re your leg, may I ask are you diabetic or anything, that is making your healing very hard?

Vet said that they tried their most agressive treatment on Gryffin but he was just too sick. He was fine when he got here but stopped eating on Sunday night. On Monday he was sleeping a lot but still not eating or drinking, yesterday morning he was drooling from the gastric ulcers so we rushed him to the Vet. We always get our kittens vaccinated when they get fixed as we always keep them inside till then. Gryffin had been living rough so had obviously picked it up before getting here.
I had knee surgery about 19 years ago and it took almost 2 years to heal from recurrent infections - I am immune to most antibiotics. I have hypoglycemia which is diet controlled but I don't think it affects my healing capabilities. This wound is virtually a gaping hole that is going to take a long time to heal unfortunately.

Thank you so much for feedback on Deramores. Wow they must have quite an NZ client base. Will give them a go.

lol no popeye, never even gave taking a pic a thought! I've unpicked the sleeve I've been knitting, made a few mistakes and got frustrated. Trouble is I just can't see very well with these glasses. Went to the optician yesterday and new reading glasses are on their way! Can't wait! And I can even use the frames I have now (I love them!)
The pantry is looking good with mango chutney, chilli sauce, bottled apple, courgette chutney and basil/tomato sauce. Am quite chuffed.
TC, that's not good, so frustrating for you!

Hello all, have just been checking out the Deramores end of season 30% off sale.... Quite a bit there I could use but have more pressing needs for things for the house at the moment, so might have to pass.
Sad to hear about your wee kitten thecritic, and am sending healing vibes for your leg xoxo
Well done with all your bottling/preserves kiwimade - I have not done any this year, so much other stuff going on.
Hope everyone is knitting away happily today, I have just started a jacket for my g.niece's 3rd birthday next month. The pattern is written in an odd way - have to keep jumping pages to check different sections, but have got it sussed now I think.
Take care everyone xoxo

I looked at the 30% sale too maible and had to back away slowly! Am going to have another go at knitting the sleeves to this wee jumper, don't know why I'm making silly mistakes. Can't wait to get my new glasses, hopefully that will make a huge difference.
Wondering how TC is today.

Your new glasses will make such a difference kiwimade! Good luck with the sleeves, hope they work out this time. I'm just about to start the jacket for the 3rd time, pattern is very frustrating to follow, got that sussed and then found I had made a mistake right at the start - so here we go again...

Hi all, hope it's a Happy Easter for everyone.
I'm just sitting knitting with some lovely music playing in the background - so relaxing. Hubby has been called out to a job about an hour away, so won;t see much of him today. Just me and the cats and dogs as usual, daughter away camping for the weekend,so won't see her, but son will call in for a visit hopefully.

Hello everyone. Beautiful day here in Christchurch. Went on a long walk this morning so have done way over my 10,000 steps, lol.

Going to finish a book soon as my sister got it out of the library and it has to be back soon. Will probably have a cruisy sort of day. Hopefully might get some knitting done - if not this afternoon, definitely tonight.

Am so glad it's not just me lol... I unpicked the sleeve four times but have it finished now. One more sleeve and I can sew it up.
Happy Easter everyone!

Morning Everyone... I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday.

I am on the last piece of Frisken. The scarf for him. then Im going to lay the pieces out and take a photo. So I can show my friend how much goes into making one of these toys. Im on day 23 today so should still have it finished in the month.
Braving the supermarket this morning, made custard last night (a rare thing in the house) so I need more milk
Then I will rest my not so good back today and get the scarf done. Need to do some listings for here too at some stage.. Ohh busy busy lol

Have a good day all. And don't eat Too much chocolate lol

arrgggggggggggggggg!!!!!! *bangs head against wall* these damed sleeves!!!!! omg why on earth can't I get it right? have unpicked the second sleeve back to the ribbing and put my knitting away for a bit. Maybe some time away will 'clear my head'. Am soooo glad I didn't knit both sleeves together as I normally would.
Ok, rant over lol. I feel so much better for typing that!!

Ohh noooo Kiwmade. very annoying eh... Mum used to put things aside for a few days then go back to it.

Yay I have finished the Racoon tail, well that's what the scarf looks like. 69cms or 27 inches of stripes lol.

So will lay all the pieces out tomorrow and take a photo. Then start putting the boy together. Till I have to do the stitching on the pants that is lol.

Hope everyone is having a good day..

wahoooo finished the sleeve, thank goodness!! Daughter is home with her partner so I'll sew the jersey up later.

Yay Kiwimade... Perseverance paid off in the end.

I finished the knitting so this morning will do the photo then start sewing him up. Going to be a fairly big job I think. My fingers are aching badly at the mo, so that's not going to help.
But I want him in the post by Friday so will get there. Of course he will have to go for an outing on Thursday at the supermarket first lol.

Twon feels dead lol its very quiet, no cars running around. Total opposite of yesterday when it was busier than Ive seen it in a long time.

I truly hope that none of our ladies have been caught up in the EQ email blunders...

Have a wonderfull day everyone

Well done kiwimade, you will be so pleased to get that done. I have started my jacket for the 4th time, got halfway through the body and thought it looked too small....
popeye, all that sewing up will be a big job, can't wait to see the photos.
We're having a lovely quiet weekend, finally managed to buy another display cabinet off trade me (got 2 actually) so will be able to get back to unpacking next week. Am so looking forward to getting all the boxes out of the way, and setting up my craft room :)
We've been having hot weather over the weekend but should be getting much needed rain for a few days. In the meantime having been washing blankets and duvets etc.,
Back to some knitting now, have a lovely day people xoxo

thanks popeye and maible, have sewn it up, put the buttons on and am so pleased with it. Daughter loves it. I have a big plastic box where I'm storing all the baby stuff and she had a good nosey lol. Told me she is feeling very spoilt and lucky I can knit. I'll post a pic of it later today, am quite pleased with it and was worth the effort. Still have no idea why I got so frustrated with the sleeves though!

58 Bits of a toy lol... My table is fairly large and it 3/4rs covers it. Its taken about 1.5 hours to sew and stuff the main body piece, (one pillow worth of stuffing) and to sew his feet, but the rest is a lot smaller.
Note to coon tail on the left lol.. My eyes didn't appreciate that bit lol.

Maible it will be nice to have all the nice bits out again eh.. I changed my stuff over a while back. And am enjoying the change.

Kiwimade it wold be fun to know theres a box of goodies to chose from

Wow popeye, that's a lot of work, good luck!
kiwimade I am starting a box of baby things also, just knitting away so I will have things on hand for all the babies due to friends and family in the coming months.
Hubby and son have been and picked up the cabinets I bought - am very pleased to have some more storage! We are going to put hubby's dragon collection in one cabinet, and will have a sort out of all my china and crystal before I decide what's going in the other one. Yay, progress!!

maible - 2013-03-31 13:28:00

Your daughter is very lucky Kiwimade. I bet you have some lovely knitting in your plastic box.

The cabinets sound good maible. Nice to be able to sort everything out. Look forward to seeing pics of your craft room.

Popeye - all I can say is, WOW. I don't envy your sewing it all up but I'm sure he will look great and look forward to seeing a pic.

Last night I undid all I knitted on Friday night because I thought I had done it incorrectly. It's a little vest done all in one, and you guessed it, when I started knitting it again, I realised I was correct the first time, aaaaggghhh!

holy heck popeye lol, good luck with the sewing lol. He will look stunning all made up.
It's quite nice maible to pop things away for the baby :). I bought two plastic boxes with lids which open at both ends at the Warehouse. They slide under the bed beautifully and I can easily see what is inside.
arrgggg Pat lol, how frustrating!! Wouldn't have been so bad if there had been a mistake lol

Morning everyone.

Pats what a bummer undoing work that was fine in the first place.

Thankfully Im one of the most patient people I know lol.. My grandmothers drumbed it into me that Patience is a Virtue. so I have one Virtue lol

The pic is one half of Friskens pants half stitched. What a job. Never done anything like that before, so Im kind pleased with how its turning out

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/261447430.jpg

Started to get a sinus headache a couple of days about. Its a full blown migraine now. Well just about. Cos I feel sick but haven't been sick.
Im also suspecting that my eyes could do with a rest, cos if Im not knitting or sewing , Im reading. So unless things improve today, I will be banning any eye work to rest my eyes today

Have a wonderfull day...

So nice to find other yarn addicts on here! I'm off to my patchwork quilting group this morning, where I will be...KNITTING! Shock horror. Haven't done anything there but crochet and knit since last year. I'm starting to feel guilty about going. But not guilty enough to stop!

Morning all

Lol Natural Kiwi... I like your last comment... We don't need to feel guilty about being productive... After all not only are we being productive, but we enjoy doing it and love having oodles of wool to do it with lol

Well my head cleared a little yesterday afternoon. so I did a few rows of the stitching. I have a full row and 3 short ones to do. Then the other half. I don't think ill have him ready to take him walk about on Thursday.

I will plod along tho. To appease MrP last night I actually sat through an hour of tv without doing anything with my hands. it was Terrible,,, felt like I was wasting time argggghhhh.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-04-02 08:57:00
932

Wow everyone must be busy.

I now only have half one poiece of the shorts to finish stitching. So that will be done today. Then it will be straight normal sewing to put the rest together.
I am pleased I had to learn how to do the stitching.

It has also taught me my eyes wont cope with cross stitch anymore I don't think. but I wont mention that to MrP. he would hit the roof if I even made a throw away comment about all my stuff sitting there, not being of much use to me anymore...
My Cross stitch stuff is up there with the wool lol

Looking forward to seeing him when he's finished popeye. I have this week off on annual leave as I wanted to get a few jobs done around here including getting the garden tidied up before winter. Have made a good start. Funny enough, with all the lovely weather we've had, it's meant to rain this afternoon. If it does, I will do some inside jobs.

Hopefully I'll finish the little vest I'm knitting. Am worried now that it will be too small for the great-nephew I'm doing it for!. Bought some lovely wool on Monday from Knit World to knit my sister a pair of fingerless gloves for her birthday in about 3 weeks and am dying to get a start on them.

Welcome to this thread naturalkiwi. On Sunday I'm going to a crochet class. Really looking forward to it. I did teach myself years ago when I was a teenager to crochet but have forgotten a lot. Hopefully I'll pick it up quickly.

Better go take the dog and myself for a walk and then in to the gardening.

934

Hi Ya Pats... That would be right re the weather lol.. We just had a light sprinkle of rain. Glad I didn't do the washing today. it would have got wet.

I finished the stitching on the pants bang on Noon today. Thank goodness. It should all be fairly simple from now on. wont be done by the morning but I can take him shopping on another day lol.

I will read this afternoon without feeling like I should be doing that stitching lol.

I cant wait to see him done. he has special meaning as B1ancas grandfather died a year ago on May 17th, and he was an avid golfer. so my timing is perfect.

And an All Black jersey lol and a cabled cardy..sigh... so much to knit!

You are certainly busy kiwimade. I know what you mean, so much to knit, not enough time. And I've got a lot of cross-stitch I want to do this year as well; and then I'm going to the crochet lesson on Sunday, so goodness knows where that will take me, lol.

Go Deramores - it's the only way to go !

lol Pat, I not even going to pick up my crochet hooks or I will be in bigggg trouble!!
Popeye, my glasses are great! omgg I can see the patterns... I think that was half my problem when knitting the sleeves of the wee jumper.
Have knitted a pair of booties and a beanie using the left over purple wool, still half a skein to go :).

Morning everyone.... Ohh I wish they have some crochet classes here. I will have to enquire around I think...

Lol Pats , we will have to add a couple of hours to each day to fit everything in.

I got Friskens pants padded last night. MrP said he had a hugely fat Butt so I took a bit out. Have put the vest on him and it looks good. You sew the shoulder seams once the arms are on. His shoes are really cool. Ill take a photo later.
He is coming ahead in leaps and bounds now.

Have to go get a few groceries this morning... Amazing, I haven't been out since Saturday... but I do need a few things

popeye333 - 2013-04-04 08:59:00

Well I'm guessing everyone is making the most of the sunny weather... Been a beautiful autumn day here today. A nice cool breeze.

Sewing on Frisken is coming along nicely. I've only got the last golf clubs to sew, the umbrella and attach the scarf/ I have found I have to make a couple more golf balls tho, didn't notice there is one on each end of the scarf lol.
I hope everyones projects are going well.

The weather has been "so, so" today. Not too bad this mornng but a bit cooler this afternoon with rain threatening. A friend said it had been raining over her side but nothing where I am. Just cold and overcast.

Went for a walk first thing. Made a card for a friend's birthday. That took me a while as I'm a real novice at cards and am pretty slow. This afternoon I've been knitting - have started fingerless gloves for my sister's birthday in a couple of weeks.

The first round says: k2, p2, k9, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, p2, k2, pm, k24, pm - does anyone know what the 'pm' means? I don't have the abbreviations as it's a page photocopied from a book. I have just ignored the 'pm' !!

Sounds as though Frisken will be finished pretty soon popeye.
