Daughter in hospital today for assessment. Now has eclampsia and they are trying to put her on bed rest. Good luck with that!! Had a lovely day yesterday. Bitterly cold outside but the sun was shining in the lounge so sat knitting and watched the DVD 'Eragon'. Beautiful movie - more tears. How come your daughter is having more tests, makerealbany?

Grizzly, lets hope they can sort her out I am a believer that the unknown is the worst. She has not got to long to go but I bet it cant come fast enough for you all. Glad you had a good day yesterday and I hope you are relaxing as best you can. Makereal what is wrong with you daughter? Is it the same on who has had the ongoing problems?

smartgirl - 2008-05-06 10:25:00

Yes it is the same girl Was having cardio tests to see if permanent damage done because of the side effects of those prescription drugs. She seems to have cyclic probelms still. I reckon she needs a good rest away from everything and everyone. Her husband does not agree with us but he is only here halve of the time so I am not really interested in what he thinks. Anyhow we are having the kids for awhile and trying to get her to go off somewhere by herself. She seems to get alright and then whoosh she is down again. Yes I know what you mean about bed rest grizzly. I had to for my last son 33 years ago. Sigh. That long!!!! Was on bed rest from 6 months. Gynacologist said "Bed rest or you will lose this baby". So I did it and what a nightmare it was with 4 other kids. He was worth it. Daughter in law had 2 miscarriages and then had bed rest for J and he is a strapping 14 year old. When you are so active it is diabolical but I did heaps of knitting, etc.

Haven't seen Eragon but read my grandson's book. C said he would get the movie from his uncle for us. He also has the second book for me to read. I enjoy reading what the grandchildren are reading. Gives me insight into Authors they like so I know what to buy them. My youngest son has all the books we had left as he was the youngest. Black Beauty, Kidnapped, What Katy Did, Treasure Island ,etc, etc. He also has all the Biggles books, Andy Capp, war comics and so on. All of my kids are avid readers and so are my grandchildren. I make them write their names in their books because we are all inclined to argue over what copy belongs to who. Ha ha.

I love buying books for children I handed all my childhood ones down to my kids. Very similar titles to you, makerealbany! But have bought some beauties for their kids. I didn't know Eragon was a book first!! I think the movies are never as good as the books. Look at Harry Potter for example. I enjoyed the movies but apparently the books were superb. Did you read those?

Blasted cat!!!! Jumped down from on top of the pantry and the shelving unit beside it wobbled, knocking off one of my favourite ornaments. I love her to bits BUT!!!!!

Goodness where is everyone? My week off is coming to an end. Boohoo! Caught up on lots of stuff so maybe not enough relaxation but it's been a good week. Hubby's surgery on his knee is sceduled for Mon 19/5 so will take another couple of days to be with him then. By then things might be happening with daughter so it will be all go. Hope you two are having fun somewhere to not be on line?

908

grizzly, I cant believe your week is over How are you and your daughter coping with everything. At least you have your timed mapped out till baby comes. I have been busy with nothing really but time flies. Have knitted a wee jersey for BR who is 9 months and some mittens for her at night, and thats about it. This week has flown

smartgirl - 2008-05-09 10:13:00
909

Thats a good sign Don't they say time flies when you are having fun? Daughter is taking one day at a time but is so far staying out of hospital.

Hi grizzly, I hope you have a great w/end before you go back to work. It sunny here. we had a power cut last night from 11pm till 8.30 this morning - accident down the road. I dont know where makereal has gone, I hope she is ok.

smartgirl - 2008-05-10 11:22:00

Hi girls What a hell of a week it has been. Daughter came out of hospital yesterday but still not good. I am absolutely bug-----ed. Have been running around up and down the motorway getting kids to school, visiting my daughter, picking up kids from school, etc, etc. This weekend they are staying with their Dad so I get to have a break. To top it off a friend of mine died and no one rang me until after the funeral and that tore my nightie. I knew she was sick but not how bad. My other sick friend is doing okay at the mo. Sis is due for surgery any day as well. I am going for a haircut this morning and then lunch with A and M R and a bit of retail therapy. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-05-10 11:45:00
913

Yes I have read the Harry Potter books grizzly Enjoyed them too. Glad your girl is staying out of Hospital. I feel so darn uncomfortable around those places. I have no fear of anything, never had maybe that due to the fact I used to shortcut through the cemetery at night to visit my Nana when she was poorly and I was about 10 when I started. It was on the side of the Airfield and if I ran on the airfield they used to send a guy in a jeep at to kick me off the field. Ha ha. But I have foreboding feelings in hospitals. Maybe the being widdowed twice and all that time in hospitals gets to me. Who knows?

Hi smartgirl I am here and all in one piece. I think. ha ha. Have a good day today girls.

Makereal, I was worried about you but I did think you were busy. I hope you and grizzly have a wonderful mothers day. It is a beautiful day here in hamilton. I hope your girls are ok.

Happy Mothers day girls Got new PJs and a lovely Photo Album so was spoilt. Have just lazed around today. Went to the Library to change my books. Finished baby's cardi and hat but need to buy buttons. Searched a big box of buttons I have and none of them are right for the set. !!!! I will have to get some tomorrow. Miss 12 is back tomorrow so I will be up at 6 and on my way to Orewa. She will stay here for another week whilst her Mum is recuperating. Weather not as nice here smartgirl. What is it like there grizzly.

Good to hear you are both enjoying your weekends. Has been a wonderful weekend to top off a great week off. My son & daughter gave me a silver locket!!! Rather blown away by that, wonderful kids that they are. Weather has been excellent till the last hour. Put plants into my new vege garden and bought some frost cloth. Hope it does the trick!!

grizzly4 - 2008-05-11 16:48:00

Lovely present grizzly I got a Jag black leather handbag today. Late present. Spoilt aren't we but we deserve it. Ha ha. You are so good gardening. I have not had the time to even look at my gardens but really need to. I will if it is fine this weekend.

Hi girls, grizzlys first day back at work I hope your daughters are both ok. I got a oil painting with poppies on it. I love red poppies so it great.
I had the locals for lunch and my Aus daughter rang. Next week we are having a re run as my whangarei daughter is moving down on Saturday

How exciting smartgirl! It must be hard having family living far away for both of you. My sister is in Wellington and we've only been close in the last 3 years, my parents moved to Blenheim years ago when my children were still really small. I could never understand them doing that when they retired. All their friends were still here in Christchurch. Now they try to put pressure for us to spend holidays with them but my kids couldn't afford to travel up with their families all the time and I'm not leaving them and my grandchildren at times like Easter and Christmas. And I could never move away from them either.

grizzly4 - 2008-05-13 08:56:00

Boy, work was full on as soon as I walked in the door yesterday. Some of clients think they own me!! Our organisation runs 3 After School Programmes as well as the Family Support Service which is me. I do all the admin for 2 of these programmes and now it looks as if I will take on no 3 as well. Really struggling to find a Supervisor for that programme at present. It's only 20 hours per week and not enough for people these days.

grizzly4 - 2008-05-13 09:02:00
922

You will have to divide yourself in two grizzly. I can not understand grandparents moving away either. My daughter and family only moved away last July and I knew it was only for a while and then it looked like it would be 18 - 24 months but not anymore. I cant wait. Its been horrible.

smartgirl - 2008-05-13 09:22:00
923

You'll have to split yourself in two as well, smartgirl. Between your family and US!

grizzly4 - 2008-05-13 19:38:00
924

Hi girls Maybe we should clone ourselves. ha ha. I have chased my kids around. The only reason I moved to Auckland was because 4 of my kids were living here and the other across the ditch in Aussi. I was always driving up to see them or vice versa. Yes that is odd grizzly but there are times!!! ha ha. Watch out grizzly workwise. I spread myself too thin at my last job. Sometimes you do get taken for granted if you have those extra skills. Even in my voluntary work now I am very careful not too take on too much. In fact I avoid it like the plague. Espiecially with my girl's health these days. Sometimes just checking the accounts, etc can take hours of work. We are knitting scarves at the mo to raffle off for the kids Soccer team in order to raise funds for a trip they are making, later in the year. I love size 15 needles.

makerealbany - 2008-05-14 23:42:00
925

Not a great start today. I have done an $80 knitting order for TM but for the second time no money as promised. Really p----- off. Yep I remember size 15 needles from way back doing lacy jerseys for a woman in Auckland. Could do one a day (but I wasn't going to work then).

grizzly4 - 2008-05-15 08:29:00
926

Oh that is not good grizzly I would be p---- off too. That is a large order. Hope it sorts out.

makerealbany - 2008-05-15 20:05:00
927

Have not tried the Lacy jerseys yet Might have a go after all these scarves and shrugs. Hey smartgirl what are you up to? I guess with the family moving you are really busy.

makerealbany - 2008-05-15 20:12:00
928

As if you did not have better things to do with your time grizzly. How is your daughter, I guess no news is good news. I cant get used to knitting on large needles, they make my hands ache.

smartgirl - 2008-05-15 20:48:00
929

All good with the money coming through this morning finally. Such a relief. I agree about big needles being hard on your hands but it is amazingly fast! My daughter was admitted to hospital last night indefinitely and have now changed their minds about her due date saying she is 34 weeks instead 36 on Tuesday. She could be in for 2 weeks before they do anything. She is already texting me with her frustration. Patience is not one of her strengths it seems. Baby is apparently 6lbs 2ozs at this point.

grizzly4 - 2008-05-16 08:45:00

I knew this would happen when hubby is due for surgery on Monday! They were never any good about sharing me!! I have grandsons first birthday on Sunday as well so its all on. Watch this space for possible major melt down. Just thinking about it makes me want to lock myself away with a good book and my knitting!

grizzly4 - 2008-05-16 08:48:00
931

Oh grizzly It never rains but it pours. This is what keeps us young girl. All the stresses of family life. We could each write a book of our lives. I am willing to bet that some events in all our 3 lives are very similar. I am having difficulty with that same situation but I just diffuse it by saying" You are stronger at this time and she needs more support, etc, etc. Then I run. Ha ha. My neighbour's little girl was 1 last Sat. They had a huge party but A and I could not go so A had lunch with her and their 2 babies yesterday. They had a lovely birthday afternoon tea. The Mums really enjoyed watching the 2 girls giggling at each other. My grand daughter thinks our neighbours girl is a nice big toy for her to play with.

makerealbany - 2008-05-16 16:34:00
932

Glad you got your money My daughter sold a pram( only had it 5 months) Did not like it. Got another new one. Anyway she sold the pram, the buyer paid and 3 weeks later is finally coming to get it. It amazes me!!!! These young people are educational. Bought a book awhile ago but no replies to my email. What a pain in the butt.

makerealbany - 2008-05-16 16:39:00
933

Loved the middle sentence of message 931: "You are stronger....then I run" PRICELESS and exactly how I feel. Had a lovely visit with daughter yesterday afternoon, DIL and grandsons were also there and daughter's partner and my hubby so it was a lovely family get together.Daughter (S) is in till Monday but hoping to escape for a wee while tomorrow to go wee grandsons first birthday. I get to make the cake: a giraffe!

grizzly4 - 2008-05-17 09:35:00
934

What a cool idea for a cake I have only made trains cars, buses and girly ones but this year Master 5 might want something other than trains and cars. Glad you all had a lovely time yesterday makes up for everything doesn't it? Took my daughter to watch my grand daughter play Soccer but she tired quickly and was throwing up by the time we got home.Poor girl is resting whilst I cook our tea. J,s team plays against the boys teams. The boys are pretty rough on the girls, pushing hard and shoving etc but they still got beaten by the girls. Ha ha. Real girl power in action. I love it.

Wow another busy day Took my grandson shopping, then drove to Albany picked up the dogs, up to Orewa picked up my granddaughter and took the dogs to the beach. Went back to Albany offloaded the dogs, bathed them, put the rubbish out and then came back to Orewa. Just had a shower and am now relaxing.

I am pleased you have your family back, smartgirl. Another full on weekend for you, makerealbany, I see. Wee grandson a whole one year old now. Wee darling that he is. Had a good family day again, cake was a hit and S was allowed out of hospital for a couple of hours to come along. She looked wasted when she went back though. Today hubby has his knee done so will take him to hospital at lunch time. At least I've got today & tomorrow off work to do all this running around! (Although I did bring some work home with me)

grizzly4 - 2008-05-19 09:55:00
938

Yes it is lovely grizzly, I have still got a daughter in aus but she wont come home. she loves it there and I just have to think that it is a great place for me to have a holiday. good luck for your husbands op. You will be so busy for the next few weeks with him and baby. My youngest has just turned 10 months and I cant believe how fast that has gone.

smartgirl - 2008-05-19 10:59:00
939

Gee grizzly It is bad enough having one person in hospital but two of them!!!!!. Just pace yourself. Thank goodness you have tomorrow off work. Even visiting the hospital is draining let alone being a patient. Went to the gym and came back and mowed my daughter's lawns. Took me 2 hours to mow. Can't hack this I felt bug---ed afterwards. I have knitted 3 scarves for the fundraising so far.Thought I might watch a DVD and knit tonight. Got my book I was waiting for so that was nice. Kids should be home soon so I am going to grab a drink before the onslaught. ha ha.

940

Hi smartgirl Hows the family? What are you knitting at the mo? I am still on these scarves but next week will have to get on and do some beanies for our charity. Have heaps of small balls of leftovers for the job. Ha ha.Saw some wool I liked on TM but was flat out this morning and missed out on the auctions. da!!!!

makerealbany - 2008-05-20 14:38:00
941

Thank goodness I took today off! Hubby's op went well and we should have been home by teatime but had a terrible reaction to the anesthetic and after waiting till 9pm they finally kept him over night. I was shattered after spending 8 hours up there in the end. Got him home this morning and he's great now. Scary at the time though. S went home yesterday and is doing well at present. She is reacting to the insulin now and they have taken her off the night shots. Crazy pregnancy!

I have knitted another vest another vest, this time in the dark grey and a pale blue to sell in the shop. Bought some variegated wool ages ago on TM in browns and a bright teal so have started a hooded jacket also for the shop.

Glad the surgery is over grizzly. There is nothing like being at home afterwards. I hope your hubby is a good patient at home. All the men in our family are frustrating when they are ill. My youngest son had his eyes lazered last week and said he was fine but seemed a bit short. I steered clear for awhile. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-05-20 20:57:00

I finally won an auction!!!! I have been bidding and even with autobids I have lost out. It is the time factor I am busy with the grandchildren and my daughter and I miss out. This morning I won yah. Housework done, 1st load of washing in, kids at school and I am off to the gym. Went home to Albany for a few hours yesterday and mowed our paddocks(ha ha ). Well the grass was so long. Had lunch with youngest girl and bubs who is a cheeky little minx. A was reading her,one of her daily stories and she avidly watches the pages turning then starts to cry. She was grabbing the book. Mum gave her a material book to chew on which she threw on the floor.(too soft) She wanted to chew on the hard book. Makes sense she is teething.

makerealbany - 2008-05-21 08:37:00
948

Congratulations on your auction! Don't trust the ACC money to work out when I need it to so not looking at anything to buy at present. Selling a few items each week so I'm pleased with that. I go back to work today, can't say I'm up to it much but I'll put a stew in the slow cooker to be ready when I get home. Nice easy option.

grizzly4 - 2008-05-21 09:14:00

Guilty as charged!! lol Sorry about that makerealbany!! I believe it was me on most of those wool auctions yesterday for one trader! I just can't resist her wool...its delicious! And love a good war when one presents itself!! lol Then I saw it was you who I was bidding against....felt guilty!! lol You are welcome to throw something at me....make it something soft like wool....but then I'd prolly catch it!! :-)

Hi grizzly That is the same option I am using for tea tonight. Nice and easy. Reminds me the gray is showing through and I have to dye my hair again. Lol.
