| winnie I'll try most stuff once. So that makes it a T of baking soda every time? Not so cheap compared to family budget shampoos when you have to wash oily hair every day like mine. That'd be almost a packet of soda a week. ange164 - 2009-03-31 08:25:00 |
| Cleaners for ceramic top stove I just want to know if anyone knows of anything rather than the chemical version on how to clean the stove top of a ceramic oven, the chemical cleaners you buy are so expensive now and do not smell very nice. I did post this question awhile back but did not get to see if there was anyone could help me. tydalelady - 2009-04-01 12:16:00 |

| ange soda is $1 a packet I'd say thats a cheap shampoo. i have washed my hair three times with the soda now and this last time i didn't use conditioner, came out lovely and shiny. winnie15 - 2009-04-06 21:48:00 |
| I tried the soda thing. Sorry, didn't work for me. It left my hair roots just as greasy as when i started. Mind you, the ends of my hair's a bit wrecked from dye. I think it really does need the conditioner etc. ange164 - 2009-04-08 08:43:00 |

| School Holidays are always challenging as since the children were small I have had a job that doesn't include the school holidays.... only problem is if I don't work.. I don't get paid so we have to think smart of things to do as we have time and no money. Yesterday Miss 14 and I had a fabulous afternoon out for $4.90. I had 2 free movie tickets and popcorn on my YUNO card (We saw Pink Panther 2)and we went to Columbus Coffee and I used a 2 for 1 coupon from my entertainment book, she had a Frappe and I had a large trim flat white.. which I love sipping on during a movie. We even made a young boys day in the process as 2 big popcorn is too much for us so we asked for a spare container, split one into 2 & then looked for someone in the queue who doesn't have popcorn and ask them if they would like some as we have a spare... His little face lit up and we saw him and his Mum sharing it in the theatre... so worth it. toadfish - 2009-04-23 06:31:00 |

| hi all hows all the budgeting going, have you all contacted power & phone companies and banks to work out the best deals for you and enjoyed the extra dolars in your wallet, it really does help.....and for those of us that are busy as it does pay to take stock of where your cash flow is going who your paying , WHY and DO you need it, do you need to upgrade it etc etc and work out how much per week your needing and how much is surplis its a great idea to know the difference and to set a goal for the savings you make it becomes easier to save when you have a purpose kob - 2009-05-13 06:11:00 |

| bought a book I bought a book not that long ago called "penny Pinching" or something similar. I sat down and read it at the weekend after reading all 900 posts on this thread. It has some brilliant ideas that I'll post on here to do with cleaning, and keeping things vs hoarding etc. Really good. annalies1 - 2009-05-13 20:14:00 |
| I seriously think KOB you should make this into a book, and sell on tm, alot of people would buy it. I would chonnni - 2009-05-15 16:44:00 |
| Magnetic Laundry system Just wondered if anyone has tried this. We're on tank water and it sounds like you don't have to rinse. Also once you bought the system - bout $120 you never have to buy anything ever again. THere's a 30 day money back gtee so thought might try it - just wondered if any of you have already. It's advertised in the 'kiddy'magazines - Littlies etc. sistermaria - 2009-05-15 19:53:00 |
| CHAMMOMILE SHAMPOO (untested) I don't have the ingrediants or want to try making it, but if someone does, here's a recipe. ____ 1 Tablespoon of soap flakes, 1 teaspoon of borax (isn't that an insect killer?) and 1 ounce (don't know what that is in grams) of powdered chammomile flowers. Put that all in a basin an add 1/2 a pint of hot water and heat it until thick lather is formed. Wet hair with warm water, massage, rinse and wash again. ______ So, who's gonna be brave enough to try? Don't know if you're ment to use all the mix, or just some. ange164 - 2009-05-16 10:45:00 |
| so I googled borax ... wikipedia says... Borax has a wide variety of uses. It is a component of many detergents, cosmetics, and enamel glazes. It is also used to make buffer solutions in biochemistry, as a fire retardant, as an anti-fungal compound for fiberglass, as an insecticide, as a flux in metallurgy, and as a precursor for other boron compounds. The term borax is used for a number of closely related minerals or chemical compounds that differ in their crystal water content, but usually refers to the decahydrate. Commercially sold borax is usually partially dehydrated. ange164 - 2009-05-16 10:46:00 |
| so to make your own ant bait... you'd make sugar water with a little borax for them to take back to their nest. ange164 - 2009-05-16 13:19:00 |

| How the Budget going here # 923 Great thank you. Got my kids saving $20.00 per week they now have about $280.00 something each. I have savings and I paid off the Credit card. Thank you I still make the wash liquid and use many other tips in here. Oh and the CC is in the freezer frozen solid in the ice cream container. happs1 - 2009-05-30 15:09:00 |
| okay so it's not really a budget thing but we signed up to get a vege box once a fortnight for $39. Cheaper than going to the vege store and organic veges which is great. We seemed to have an awful lot left over every week so I started to blanch and freeze the leftovers. Now we have enough frozen fresh veges to go probably a month without buying veges. Will still need fruit etc. But I'm quite stoked. Also fruit tree in the backyward is overflowing so I'm doing swop-sies with people. annalies1 - 2009-05-30 16:01:00 |

| how many of us are doing the $21 Challenge? We are :) its great, have given hubby 2 nights to scrape a meal together each week, tonight he's made a gourmet mince pie, mmm! should stretch it out over two nights :) was watching money man last wk, and the solo mum he told her to go shopping with her $21 she came back and had spent over 40!! some people just dont get it. anyway hope your all finding sneaky ways to save your $$ or just make ends meet. tried your washing liquid kob, i sneak in a teaspoon (yes just one) of the cold water surf(the new brand 2x concentrate) as i love my clothes to smellll nice and found the lux smell wasnt coming through much - maybe were a stinkier bunch than others hehe. --boss-- - 2009-06-06 17:08:00 |
| Some things we are doing to save money at mo **I keep a bar of sunlight soap at bench, for washing hands & dishes, and when we do dishes i soap it up under the running tap and thats my dishwash liquid :) --boss-- - 2009-06-06 17:18:00 |
| Listening to staff room delimas on friday I though id share them with you, ITS WINTERTIME so the petticoats and the expensive tights are back in fashion, we sell clothing so attentive fashion is a must, well two staff members were having this heated conversation on friday 1 was going on about her $19 stocking had a hole and would ladder and that was the end of that and the 2 nd lady was annoyed that her new skirt was clinging to her petticoat SO along comes Katrina out of her workbag she produces 1 saftey pin and a clear nail vanish I hand the nail vanish to the stocking lady and the saftey pin to the petticoat delima victim, walla problem solved, paint you ladder or hole with clear nail vanish onece it sets your hole ot ladder will not grow any bigger ($2 shop ones work just as well)and the safty pin attached to your petticoat will take the static out of your skirt so it wont stick to your petticoat, simple but effective and I had them all in my work bag kob - 2009-06-08 08:18:00 |
| good to know, i had this problem with a skirt two wks ago. so does the metal pin stop the static? --boss-- - 2009-06-08 08:33:00 |
| 936 & 940 - try adding a teaspoon of washing soda to your dishwasher powder. Use less than half the dishwasher powder in the machine dispenser and then add the 1 tsp of washing soda. Works a treat for me. You can't just use washing soda on its own. beagle12 - 2009-06-08 10:02:00 |
